Delayed intracranial hemorrhage is dangerous and not so rare. To prevent such an exacerbation, head trauma patients taking anticoagulants is recommended 24-48 hour observational admission despite of normal CT. Among delayed intracranial hemorrhage, delayed traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage (DTSAH) is rare. Here, we show 82-year-old woman presented with head injury. She was alert and no abnormality was detected in initial CT. Four days after that she came again due to vertigo. The CT showed subarachnoid hemorrhage in sylvian fissure. She had atrium fibriation and anticoagulant. We experienced an infrequent DTSAH with anticoagulant. The appearance of symptom was delayed notably 96 hours. Clinicians should be aware that DTSAH can occur much later than previous studies about delayed intracranial hemorrhage expected and check coagulation despite no drug information.

The catch of snow crab in the Sea of Japan has decreased. Therefore, there are many regulations including the size limitation and protected season, protected areas and production of fingerlings to enhance the resources. However, these measures may be insufficient to maintain and restore resources because the effect of the regulation was not evaluated very well. It is very difficult to observe the snow crab behaviors because they inhabited the deep-sea floor in the Sea of Japan. Therefor we began to investigate the challenging biotelemetry study in order to reveal their behaviors. In this paper, we introduced preliminary results of the deep-sea trials of Vemco positioning system (VPS). This was our first experience using the deep-sea VPS study., 19–22 May 2022 Kyoto, Japan

Air-breathing divers are assumed to have evolved to apportion their time between surface and underwater periods to maximize the benefit gained from diving activities. However, whether they change their time allocation depending on the aim of the dive is still unknown. This may be particularly crucial for 'surfacers' because they dive for various purposes in addition to foraging. In this study, we counted breath events at the surface and estimated oxygen consumption during resting, foraging, and other dives in 11 green turtles (Chelonia mydas) in the wild. Breath events were counted by a head-mounted acceleration logger or direct observation based on an animal-borne video logger, and oxygen consumption was estimated by measuring overall dynamic body acceleration. Our results indicate that green turtles maximized their submerged time, following this with 5-7 breaths to replenish oxygen for resting dives. However, they changed their dive tactic during foraging and other dives; they surfaced without depleting their oxygen content, followed by only a few breaths for effective foraging and locomotion. Computations find that o-phenylene(halo)carbenonitrenes 2-XN, X = F, Cl, Br, have quinoidal singlet biradical ground states such as the parent o-phenylenecarbenonitrene (2-HN). Compared to the parent 2-HN, halogen substitution stabilizes the A″ states relative to the A′ ones. Halogen substitution also affects the barrier and exothermicity of the ring-opening reaction (to form unsaturated nitriles 4-XN, X = F, Cl, Br), but it has a smaller effect on the ring-closing reaction (to form benzo(aza) cyclobutadiene 3-XN, X = F, Cl, Br). Attempts to generate and observe the o-phenylene(halo)carbenonitrenes 2-XN, X = F, Cl, Br, using matrix isolation spectroscopy under conditions similar to those of the successful observation of 2-HN failed. Instead, the observed photoproducts were a mixture of 3-XN and 4-XN. In each case, the major product of the mixture appears to be the thermodynamically more stable one. In the case of X = Br, the observed mixture contains an additional component that is postulated to be Z-6-BrN. o-Phenylenechlorocarbenocarbene is also computed to have a quinoidal singlet biradical ground state and relatively stabilized A″ excited states. Attempts to generate the biscarbene under matrix isolation conditions led to the detection of benzochlorocyclobutadiene (3-ClC), small amounts of the ring-open product (dienediyne 4-ClC), and cycloalkyne 5-ClC. As part of Southern Ocean GLOBEC (Global Ocean Ecosystem and Dynamics) sponsored by the Scientific Committee on Ocean Research and cosponsored by the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research, the research program of Sea Ice and Penguin Study (SEPENS) had been conducted at Syowa Station area. The program was promoted from 1995/6 to 1999/2000 season as one of the 5 years-core projects of Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition (JARE) aiming to understand how Adelie penguins (Pygoscelis adeliae) respond to change of ice condition through their foraging and breeding behavior as indicator species of marine ecosystem changes. During 5 years season we surveyed the sea ice condition, diving and trip pattern and nest attendance pattern of penguins.

Purpose: An International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) consensus classification system for focal cortical dysplasias (FCDs) has been published in 2011 specifying clinicopathologic FCD variants. The aim of the present work was to microscopically assess interobserver agreement and intraobserver reproducibility for FCD categories among an international group of neuropathologists with different levels of experience and access to epilepsy surgery tissue. Methods: Surgical FCD specimens covering a broad histopathology spectrum were retrieved from 22 patients with epilepsy. Three surgical nonepilepsy specimens served as controls. A total of 188 slides with routine or immunohistochemical stainings were digitalized with a slide scanner to allow Internet-based microscopy review. Nine experienced neuropathologists were invited to review these cases twice at a time gap of 3 months and different orders of case presentation. The 2011 ILAE FCD consensus classification served as instruction. Kappa analysis was calculated to estimate interobserver and intraobserver agreement levels. In a third evaluation round, 21 additional neuropathologists with different experience and access to epilepsy surgery reviewed the same case series. Key Findings: Interobserver agreement was good (kappa = 0.6360), with 84% consensus of diagnoses during the first evaluation (21 of 25 cases). Kappa values increased to 0.6532 after reevaluation, and consensus was obtained in 24 (96%) of 25 cases. Overall intraobserver reproducibility was also good (kappa = 0.7824, ranging from 0.4991 to 1.000). Fewest changes in the classification were made in the FCD type II group (2.2% of 225 original diagnoses), whereas the majority of changes occurred in FCD type III (13.7% of 225 original diagnoses). In the third evaluation round, interobserver agreement was reflected by the level of experience of each neuropathologist, with kappa values ranging from moderate (0.5056; high level of experience >40 cases/year) to low (0.3265; low level of experience

A lot of rockfish in the genus Sebastes exhibit distinctive homing ability. They can return back to an original location after displacement of metres or even kilometres. The black rockfish S. cheni is a site-specific fish, and shows homing to their original habitat after displacement. Using highresolution acoustic telemetry, we monitored homing behavior of the eight rockfish. The results demonstrated that they spent their time around the release site, and during this period they moved in the upstream and/or downstream direction. Then they gradually returning to their familiar area, and finally showed directed movements to the original habitat., 19–22 May 2021 Kyoto, Japan

The authors report a case of pulmonary squamous cell carcinoma which occurred after chemotherapy of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL). A 76-year-old man, who was admitted to our department because of swelling of cervical lymph nodes, was diagnosed as having NHL (follicular mixed cell lymphoma). He was treated with 11 courses of CHOP therapy. Thereafter, chemotherapy including ifosfamide was carried out for approximately three years. In June, 1991, he was readmitted to our department because of swelling and pain in his left thigh and an abnormal shadow on chest X-ray. Chest CT demonstrated a cavitated shadow (about 5 cm in diameter) with an irregular margin in right S1, which was suggested to be lung cancer or pulmonary infiltration of malignant lymphoma. Bronchoscopy, which was carried out on July 12, showed bloody sputa from the right B1 ramus and markedly reddened mucosa at the orifice of the right upper bronchus. Sputum cytology revealed no malignancy. ACVP-16 chemotherapy including ara-C, CBDCA and VP-16 was initiated on July 14 because of enlarged superficial lymph nodes. On July 18, he fell out of bed and fractured his left femur. He also suffered from respiratory failure. He died of pulmonary haemorrhage on July 26. Autopsy revealed pulmonary squamous cell carcinoma. The occurrence of pulmonary squamous cell carcinoma is rare after the chemotherapy of malignant lymphoma.

COP-BLAM therapy, which has recently been reported to be useful in the treatment of malignant lymphoma, was performed on aged patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and the results and adverse effects of the treatment were evaluated. The subjects of the present study included 13 patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, aged 60 years or older, treated during the period from October, 1987 to June, 1989. They included four recurrent cases after CHOP therapy. According to the Ann-Arbor classification of pathological stage there were two patients in stage I, one in stage II, two stage III and eight in stage IV. COP-BLAM therapy was conducted using the following procedure, irrespective of the patient's age, intravenous drip infusion of cyclophosphamide (CPM) at a dose of 400 mg/m2 and intravenous infusion of 1 mg/m2 vincristine (VCR), and 30 mg/m2 adriamycin (ADM), on day 1; oral administration of 40 mg/m2 prednisone (PSL), and 100 mg/m2 procarbazine (PCZ), from day 1 through day 10, followed by intravenous infusion of bleomycin (BLM), 10 mg/body on day 14. BLM was withdrawn or decreased to less than 70% of the initial dose in patients who exhibited disturbed pulmonary function. Treatment resulted in complete remission (CR) in 11 and partial remission (PR) in 2 out of the 13 patients. Analyzing results according to pathological stage. CR was obtained in all of those in staged I and II, and eight out of the 10 in staged III and IV. The four patients with recurrent disease after CHOP therapy exhibited a CR rate of 50%, indicating that therapy is highly effective in recurrent cases.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)

Summary: We report 2 cases of intraspinal germinoma associated with Klinefelter syndrome. In one patient, spinal cord atrophy was observed at the upper and lower ends of the intraspinal tumor. Brain atrophy was observed in both cases. Germinoma should be included in the differential diagnosis if an intraspinal tumor is observed in a patient with Klinefelter syndrome.

Schooling behaviour of Pacific bluefin tuna (PBF; Thunnus orientalis) was observed in a sea net cage located off the coast of Aso-bay, Tsushima-island using a fine-scale acoustic positioning, and telemetry system. This system can record full frequency bands of underwater sound in stereo, and detect the three dimensional positions of the plural ultrasonic transmitters, which were attached to the backs of PBF. Twelve PBF of approximately 1.5 years old were used as an experimental fish and their behaviour was observed for 10 days. PBF generally formed a school throughout the experimental period. Immediately after the operation of the transmitter attachment, they formed more cohesive school rather than the few days after releasing. The behaviour of PBF was distinctive among day-time and night-time. During day-time, PBF swam in fast speed and formed relatively looser school at the bottom of the net cage. During night-time, in contrast, they swam in slow speed and formed cohesive and polarized school in the shallower range. Since the most important sensory organ for PBF is considered to be the vision, PBF might maintain the distance between individuals close, and swim in shallow water during nigh-time to keep visibility to form school., 19–22 May 2019 Kyoto, Japan
