Ixodes ricinus nymphs and adults removed from humans, and larvae and nymphs from birds, have been analysed for infection with Babesia species and Borrelia species previously in separately published studies. Here, we use the same data set to explore the coinfection pattern of Babesia and Borrelia species in the ticks. We also provide an overview of the ecology and potential public health importance in Sweden of I. ricinus infected both with zoonotic Babesia and Borrelia species. Among 1952 nymphs and adult ticks removed from humans, 3.1% were PCR-positive for Babesia spp. Of these Babesia-positive ticks, 43% were simultaneously Borrelia-positive. Among 1046 immatures of I. ricinus removed from birds, 2.5% were Babesia-positive, of which 38% were coinfected with Borrelia species. This study shows that in I. ricinus infesting humans or birds in Sweden, potentially zoonotic Babesia protozoa sometimes co-occur with human-pathogenic Borrelia spp. Diagnostic tests for Babesia spp. infection are rarely performed in Europe, and the medical significance of this pathogen in Europe could be underestimated.

An investigation into whether Plato was committed to separate Forms in the Phaedo. Two accounts of separation are distinguished: Gail Fine's modal account where separation is a capacity to exist independendently from sensible particulars, and Daniel D. Devereux' non-modal account where separation is equivalent with non-immanence. I analyse multiple key passages of the Phaedo using these accounts of separation, to see whether any passage commits Plato to separation understood in either modal or non-modal terms. I argue and conclude that there is no evidence of Plato being committed to separation in the Phaedo, understanding separation in either modal or non-modal terms.

Syftet med studien är att få en fördjupad kunskap om hur lärare i idrott ochhälsa upplever och arbetar med inkluderande och differentierad undervisningsom tillgodoser elevers behov och förutsättningar i olika lärmiljöer. Studienbygger på sex kvalitativa semistrukturerade intervjuer med lärare från olikaskolor som är behöriga i ämnet idrott och hälsa. Studien utgick från följandefrågeställningar: Hur arbetar lärare i idrott och hälsa med att skapa eninkluderande och differentierad undervisning? Hur samarbetar de medspeciallärare/pedagoger? Vilka utmaningar stöter de på för att skapa enlikvärdig utbildning? De teoretiska utgångspunkterna som studien har utgåttifrån är tillgänglighetsmodellen från Specialpedagogiska myndigheten ochsom analysverktyg har en tematisk analys använts för att hitta olika teman iresultatet. Resultatet som framkom i studien visade på att samtliga lärareansåg att de gjorde sitt bästa för att skapa en inkluderande och differentieradundervisning men faktorer som tid, resurser och tillgängliga lärmiljöer harstor påverkan hur lärarna kan arbeta med att skapa en god undervisning.Resultatet visade även att de flesta lärarna inte hade något samarbete ellerkontinuerlig kontakt med speciallärare och elevhälsoteam samt att lärarnaansåg att speciallärarnas kunskap och engagemang inte sträcker sig ut tillidrott och hälsa undervisningen.

Rapporten bygger på tre delstudier med olika datainsamlingstekniker: En bibliometristudie av svensk spelforskning baserad på data från Scopus respektive SwePub. En enkätstudie över svenska spelforskningsmiljöer. En intervjustudie om svenska spelforskarmiljöer. Bibliometristudiens ansats har varit bred. Materialet inkluderar därmed även poster som endast har en perifer koppling till spel, men returnerar i fallet SwePub färre än 3000 poster. Spelforskning bedrivs på många lärosäten i Sverige och publiceras inom många ämnesområden. Totalt 95 forskare har en publicering som omfattar 10 eller fler spelpublikationer1. Det finns starka lokala kluster av forskare som sampublicerar men sampubliceringen mellan svenska och nordiska lärosäten är inte så omfattande. Jämfört med Finland har Sverige färre publikationer med ett tydligt fokus på spelforskning. Enkätstudien visar att spelforskarmiljöerna oftast består av ett antal forskare med olika ämnesmässig bakgrund där de själva definierar sig som spelforskare snarare än att organisationen som sådan gör det. Miljöerna har sammantaget och högt räknat runt 30 aktiva doktorander men siffran är osäker. 94% av respondenterna anger att deras forskning ligger inom ”spel för andra områden än underhållning” och endast 6% anger ”spelteknikfokus”. 44% anger ”spelbranschen”. Det är tydligt att spel för just underhållning inte ligger fokus för svensk spelforskning. Detta är remarkabelt då den svenska datorspelsindustrin är en multimiljardindustri fokuserad på just spel som underhållning. Det finns alltså en mycket stor diskrepans mellan industri och svensk spelforskning. Intervjustudien ger en bild av att spelforskningen bedrivs inom splittrade miljöer, av forskare med olika ämnesmässig bakgrund. Turbidity, which is the cloudiness or haziness of water caused by large numbers of individual particles, is a critical factor for drinking water producers. High turbidity can harbour harmful microorganisms and reduce the effectiveness of disinfection processes, making it essential to monitor and manage to ensure safe drinking water.This study was conducted at the Rökebo water production plant, which produces drinking water for Sandviken and nearby areas, serving around 29,000 people. The treatment process includes several steps, such as chemical precipitation, filtration, UV treatment, and chlorination, to ensure the water is safe to drink. A new plant is being constructed to use only lake water and will include additional treatment steps to remove natural organic matter.Lake Öjaren is moderately sized, covering 21 square kilometres with an average depth of 4.66 meters, which means it is a shallow lake. The depth and shape of the lake influence how it responds to wind and weather, which can stir up sediments and affect water clarity. The catchment area of Lake Öjaren consists mainly of forest and moraine but has 5.5% clear-cuts, which contribute to higher turbidity levels in combination with heavy precipitation. Climate change is expected to bring warmer temperatures and more rain to Sweden, affecting Lake Öjaren’s water quality and availability. Projections indicate that runoff to the lake will increase by about 15%, which is more than the average for the area. Less precipitation will fall as snow, leading to more water flowing into the lake during winter. These changes will likely increase the levels of nutrients and organic matter in the lake, increasing turbidity and calling for an adaptation strategy at the drinking water plant. We tested several machine learning models to predict water turbidity, including ElasticNet Regression, RandomForestRegressor, GradientBoostingRegressor, and XGBoost. Plants in habitats with unpredictable conditions often have diversified bet-hedging strategies that ensure fitness over a wider range of variable environmental factors. A striking example is the diaspore (seed and fruit) heteromorphism that evolved to maximize species survival in Aethionema arabicum (Brassicaceae) in which external and endogenous triggers allow the production of two distinct diaspores on the same plant. Using this dimorphic diaspore model, we identified contrasting molecular, biophysical, and ecophysiological mechanisms in the germination responses to different temperatures of the mucilaginous seeds (M+ seed morphs), the dispersed indehiscent fruits (IND fruit morphs), and the bare non-mucilaginous M− seeds obtained by pericarp (fruit coat) removal from IND fruits. Large-scale comparative transcriptome and hormone analyses of M+ seeds, IND fruits, and M− seeds provided comprehensive datasets for their distinct thermal responses. Morph-specific differences in co-expressed gene modules in seeds, as well as in seed and pericarp hormone contents, identified a role of the IND pericarp in imposing coat dormancy by generating hypoxia affecting abscisic acid (ABA) sensitivity. This involved expression of morph-specific transcription factors, hypoxia response, and cell wall remodeling genes, as well as altered ABA metabolism, transport, and signaling. Parental temperature affected ABA contents and ABA-related gene expression and altered IND pericarp biomechanical properties. Elucidating the molecular framework underlying the diaspore heteromorphism can provide insight into developmental responses to globally changing temperatures.

Over the past century, prefabrication in Sweden has undergone phenomenal growth. With a cost-effective method, interest in this construction technique has steadily increased. In an era where demand for fast, cost effective, and sustainable housing is paramount, addressing this topic is crucial. Environmental concerns and climate change are among our most pressing challenges, with the construction sector playing a crucial role due to its substantial carbon emissions. Reversing the negative trend that has characterized the sector for decades is vital. This report compares prefabrication with traditional construction, focusing on time efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and environmental impact. Data collection was conducted through surveys distributed to various companies in the industry to gain a multifaceted understanding of the method's different aspects. The results were then compared with previous research and other articles written on the subject. Prefabrication proves to be a promising construction technique concerning the aspects under consideration, owing to several factors. Streamlining, predictability, and specially adapted facilities are among the reasons favoring the use of this construction method. Additionally, potential waste during the construction process is reduced, and transportation is minimized as the blocks only need to be transported to the site. In summary, prefabricated elements are considered the advantageous option regarding time efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability. However, further research is required to determine which method will be most advantageous in the long run., Under de senaste seklet har prefabricering i Sverige genomgått en fenomenal tillväxt. This paper has two main purposes. The first, more informational, is to introduce, re-introduce, the German-Nordic concept of Bildung to Canadian environmental education. This includes a brief attempt to define, a short overview of its history which stretches back to the Eighteenth century at least, and then an exploration of why and whether Bildung might still have some relevance and value in a post- modern, post-humanist, world filled with social crises and myriad human injustices that need attending to. The second purpose, is more theoretically expansive and experimental, wherein we explore ways this modern humanist concept of Bildung might not only be updated as an educational response to today’s human problems but might even be ecologized. Our reading shows that some of the former has already been considered but that there has been almost no work done on the latter. Finally, as a way to consider practice, we very briefly turn to Klafki’s five Bildung inspired questions for didactical analysis in order to illuminate implications for environmental education. This allows possibilities to emerge in spite of the need for further development.

The ecological and social crises we face, and a need for Eco-Social-Cultural-change toward living in an ecologically and socially just society are intriguing questions for education (Blenkinsop and Fettes, 2023). In this paper, I set up a discussion about if, then what, and how the concept and meaning of eco-democracy might contribute for, in and through education, and implications that it might have for future research. If the purpose of education is to prepare the younger generation to support diverse, democratic, social, and ecologically just and sustainable societies then eco-democracy might be an important conversation for educational change, including questions of change in educational practices supporting uncertain tomorrows, young people's contemporary and imaginary future. The question is: What could eco-democracy mean for how to think about and enact public education whilst working towards an ecologically sustainable and just society where all living beings can flourish? The discussion builds on assumptions that to enact change education needs to be transformed (Jickling, et al, 2018; Paulsen, 2022). If considering the well-being of the whole community, more-than-humans included, and the right of mutually beneficial flourishing, the question that democracy seeks to answer -- how we should live together? - has to be re-thought. Accepting an ecocentric worldview has implications for democratic values such as participating, having a voice, liberty (freedom), and equality (Lundmark, 1998). The idea of a space for change and adaptation to new problem situations, the need for stabilizing forces, and rules necessary in democratic processes, as well as tools that make it possible to evaluate (Petersson, 1999) must then also include the more- than-human. The main aim of the paper is to discuss students' learning and personal development through developing scientific didactic models in education for sustainable development (ESD) based on rural small school conditions. A partial aim is to present a heuristic research methodology where collaboration between school staff, researchers, neighboring local actors, and the local geographical location contributes to developing ESD theory and practice. Considering present eco-social-cultural challenges and respecting the earth's carrying capacity (Fettes och Blenkinsop, 2023) and planetary boundaries (Oziewicz, 2022) education is an important partner (Jickling et. al 2018). Hence, the need to understand practical challenges and to develop didactical tools for teaching and learning is crucial. Accordingly, this paper presents tentative results from a practice-based research project with three small schools in sparsely populated areas in the middle of Sweden. The project builds on the assumption that schools’ geographical location is important for the kind of environmental and sustainability education that is possible and desirable. Furthermore, whereas place-based education research is common (see Yemini, Engel & Ben Simon 2023), research that focuses on small schools in sparsely populated communities is uncommon. In particular, the paper addresses questions concerning the potential of the local natural environment as an equally important partner in education. Other sustainability factors taken into consideration are how education can address migration into cities, extending formal education to formal-nonformal education in collaboration with neighboring local actors, and how to understand and organize students' learning in such teaching practice context (Miller, 2015; Pettersson, 2017; Wildy, et. al., 2014). In this presentation I will bring forward one strand of our recent work done in relation to living within the Earth's carrying capacity. Themes/frames that arose in our analysis and that have important implications for outdoor education in particular. We have called this strand the 4 C’s: community, change, critical, care/coeur. Each will be described in turn with a focus on the outdoor educator. This presentation arises out of work done in response to a SSHRC (Canada’s research granting agency) “knowledge synthesis” grant. Therein we set out to provide scholars, activists, educators, and policy- makers with a wide-ranging review of the current state of education for eco-social-cultural change. The starting point for our work was to acknowledge the following: that the ecological crisis is the consequence of entrenched attitudes, discourses and behaviours in many “modern” human societies; that modern educational traditions, processes and institutions have played a key role in fostering and reinforcing these cultural traits; that these same structures and processes are implicated in myriad forms of social inequity and injustice therefore, learning to live with Earth implies far-reaching, systemic educational transformation. The project had three main components: A review of contemporary philosophical and theoretical work that critiques damaging or limiting assumptions and practices in mainstream education systems and points towards ways of being, thinking, valuing, acting, learning and teaching that are more consonant with the goal of living in harmony with Earth; A review of generative and transformative educational practices, including outdoor education, scattered throughout both formal and informal educational systems, with the goal of bringing these disparate practices into conversation with each other in the context of a shared project of eco-social-cultural change; A review of current work on systemic social change, with a particular focus on how outdoor educa

Recent reports on children and adolescents’ physical activity indicate that approximately 80% do not meet the World Health Organisation’s recommended levels of physical activity. Childhood is a critical period of development; as such, it is important to prioritize health promotion in this phase of one’s life. Use of gamification in mobile apps has been shown to positively influence physical activity levels in children and adolescents. Inclusion of behaviour change techniques (BCTs) has been noted to increase the effect of health promoting interventions. Previous research highlights that children and adolescents find the BCTs of goal setting/planning, feedback, reward, self-monitoring, social comparison, and social support to be of interest. The aim of this study was to explore Swedish adolescents’ experience with physical activity and apps with a focus on the influence of BCTs. Three focus group interviews were undertaken with a total of 18 participants (11-15 years of age). The data were explored using reflective thematic analysis. In addition to the BCTs identified in previous research, participants in the present study indicated they were positive about mobile apps providing instruction on how to perform a behaviour, demonstration of the behaviour, and the influence of removal of reward. Other attractive features of physical activities apps included developing a streak, competition, and provision of an adequate level of challenge. The present study contributes to a deeper understanding of how BCTs and other features can be implemented in physical activity apps, where individualization and renewal appear to be more important than the actual content features. Migratory birds play a dual role as potential reservoirs of tick-borne pathogens, and potential dispersers of pathogen-containing ticks during their migratory journeys. Ixodes ricinus, a prevalent tick species in Northern and Western Europe, serves as a primary vector for Anaplasma phagocytophilum-a bacterium with implications for human and animal health. There is limited information available regarding A. phagocytophilum in birds. Our investigation focused on A. phagocytophilum prevalence in ticks collected from migratory birds in southeastern Sweden. The identification of ticks involved both molecular analyses for species determination and morphological classification to ascertain the developmental stage. The presence of A. phagocytophilum was determined using real-time PCR. Of the 1115 ticks analyzed from 4601 birds, 0.9% (n = 10), including I. ricinus and Ixodes frontalis, tested positive for A. phagocytophilum. Notably, common blackbirds (Turdus merula) yielded the highest number of A. phagocytophilum-infected ticks. The findings suggest that A. phagocytophilum is present in a small proportion of ticks infesting migratory birds in southeastern Sweden. Consequently, the role of birds as hosts for ticks infected with A. phagocytophilum appears to be low, suggesting that birds seem to play a minor indirect role in the geographic dispersal of A. phagocytophilum.

För att möta utmaningarna med att examinera stora studentgrupper inom högre utbildning krävs genomtänkta överväganden kring val av examinationsformer. Studiens syfte är att undersöka hur lärare vid vårt lärosäte hanterar examination av stora studentgrupper, med intentionen att synliggöra examinationsmetoder som är rättssäkra, effektiva och skalbara samtidigt som de främjar lärandet. Tre metoder för att examinera stora studentgrupper har identifierats: Digitaliserad examination med automatisk rättning; muntlig examination med uppföljande frågor och slutligen; individuella praktiska prov. Studien bygger på sex semistrukturerade intervjuer och diskuterar möjligheter med dessa examinationsformer och hur de kan kopplas samman med olika kunskapsnivåer i Blooms reviderade taxonomi. Samtidigt pekar den på de viktiga utmaningar som finns, såsom rättssäkerhet, tidskrävande förberedelsearbete och återkoppling på examination till studenterna. Det är också tydligt att studentgruppens storlek i vissa fall starkt påverkar vilka examinationsformer som används trots att respondenterna upplever att det kan finnas andra examinationsformer som skulle vara bättre ur ett pedagogiskt perspektiv. Studien är genomförd som ett projekt inom ramen för Arena för högskolepedagogisk utveckling vid Högskolan i Skövde under 2023., In order to meet the challenges of examining large student groups in higher education, well-thought-out considerations regarding the choice of examination forms are required. The purpose of the study is to investigate how teachers at our university handle the examination of large student groups, with the intention of making visible examination methods that are legally secure, efficient and scalable while promoting learning. Three different methods for examining large student groups have been identified: Digitized examination with automatic correction; oral examination with follow-up questions and finally; individual practical tests. The study is based on six semi-structured interviews and discusses possibilities with these forms of examination and how they can be connected with different levels of knowledge in Bloom's revised taxonomy. At the same time, it points to the important challenges that arise, such as legal certainty, time-consuming preparation work and feedback on examinations to the students. It is also clear that the size of the student group in some cases strongly influences which forms of examination are used, even though the respondents feel that there may be other forms of examination that would be better from a pedagogical perspective. The study has been conducted as a project within Arena för högskolepedagogisk utveckling at the University of Skövde during 2023.

Pig transport drivers' (TDs') handling actions are of great importance as these drivers handle a large number of finishing pigs during stressful situations. Poor handling techniques can have negative consequences for working conditions, pig welfare and meat quality. We studied the effects of a training intervention on Swedish TDs' attitudes towards pigs and their handling actions during loading for transport to slaughter. Twenty TDs working with commercial pig transportation in Sweden were recruited and completed an attitude questionnaire. Ten of them were observed during one loading of pigs before training, and one or two loadings after training (49-265 pigs per loading), and eight of them completed the attitude questionnaire again 50-160 days after training. The cognitive-behavioural training program ProHand Pigs® was adapted and delivered to the ten TDs during a group session, followed by individual meetings. TDs' handling actions were video recorded and summarised as binary variables per 5-s interval. Factor analysis, principal component analysis and paired t-test were conducted to investigate the effects of the training intervention on TDs' attitudes, and mixed-effects logistic models were used to examine effects on negative and positive handling actions. Training tended to decrease TDs' beliefs that it is important to move pigs quickly (P = 0.095). Training decreased the odds of a 'moderately to strongly negative' action by 55% (P = 0.0013) and increased the odds of a 'positive' action by 97% (P < 0.0001). This study provides valuable insights into the possibilities to improve TDs' handling actions, and implications for pig welfare during slaughter transport. The study supports previous findings that the attitudes and behaviour of handlers can be improved by cognitive-behavioural training. Då forskarna uppfattat att vägledningen ofta nedprioriteras i de skolor som inte har någon anställd vägledare, blev ämnet studie- och yrkesvägledning som hela skolans ansvar på mellanstadiet intressant att utforska. Vårt syfte är att undersöka hur mellanstadielärare ser på studie- och yrkesvägledning i undervisningen som en del av hela skolans ansvar. Med grund i kommunala styrdokument diskuterar vi hur detta påverkas. De frågor som besvaras i studien är: Hur ser mellanstadielärare på sin roll och ansvar för att främja elevernas valkompetens genom studie- och yrkesvägledning i klassrumsmiljön i förhållande till aktuella kommunala styrdokument? Har lärarna behov av stöd för att tillgodose skollag och läroplan gällande studie- och yrkesvägledning? Vilka är dessa isåfall? De teoretiska begrepp forskarna utgått ifrån var symbolisk interaktionism, roller, handlingshorisonter samt habitus. Med hjälp av dessa kunde resultatet analyseras utifrån hur den sociala interaktionen mellan kollegor samt kunskap kan påverka arbetet med studie- och yrkesvägledning. Genom den kvalitativa metoden kunde forskarna använda semistrukturerade intervjuer där informanterna tilläts berätta sina uppfattningar. Resultatet av de intervjuer som genomfördes innebar i sin helhet en kunskapsbrist. Kunskap om vad studie- och yrkesvägledning innebär och hur det kan implementeras i mellanstadiet. Forskarna drar slutsatser om lärarutbildning, kommun och ledning som bristande.

Denna uppsats ifrågasätter diskurs om grönytor på kommunal nivå. Empirin analyseras med kritisk diskursanalys för att framhäva underliggande meningar och visa på vad som värdesätts i den kommunala planeringen. Genom undersökningen av Helsingborgs stads framställning av grönytor synliggörs hur grönområden porträtteras i förhållande till värde och nytta. Resultatet visar att beslut och formuleringar i Helsingborgs stads kommunala planeringsdiskurs om grönytor, med utgångspunkt i grönplanering, har ekonomiska motiv. Planeringen av grönytor i Helsingborgs stad kan ses som greenwashing., This thesis questions municipal discourse about green spaces. Critical discourse analysis applies empiricism to showcase meaning and worth in municipal planning. By studying Helsingborgs city’s description of green spaces, it is possible to analyse how worth and value is portrayed. In conclusion, Helsingborgs city’s municipal planning discourse about green spaces has revealed economic motives in their green structure planning. Helsingborgs city’s planning of green spaces could be considered greenwashing.

Bakgrund: EU har skapat ett nytt hållbarhetsdirektiv som företag måste följa, vilket är Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Införandet av EU-direktiv har standardiserat och ökat kraven på hållbarhetsrapportering för företag, vilket innebär betydande förändringar och utmaningar i hur företag ska styra och redovisa sin verksamhet. CSRD innebär ett behovet av att integrera hållbarhet, där Malmi och Brown’s (2008) modell för Management Control System (MCS) kan tillämpas. Tidigare forskning visar att det är svårt att integrera hållbarhet i ett företag vilket gör att vidare forskning behövs för att förstå hur styrverktyg samspelar med varandra vid införande av hållbarhetsstrategier. Syfte: Syftet med studien är att utveckla kunskap om hur MCS används i företag vid implementeringen av CSRD. Studien syftar till att bidra med insikter om hur styrverktygen samspelar vid implementeringen av CSRD samt att identifiera de specifika utmaningar som uppstår internt i företagen under implementeringsprocessen. Metod: Studien är en kvalitativ studie med en abduktiv forskningsansats. Semistrukturerade intervjuer har genomfört med sju respondenter i sex företag. Intervjupersonerna ansvarar eller arbetar aktivt med CSRD i företagen. Slutsats: Företagen använder fyra av fem styrverktyg vid implementeringen. Företagens kulturella styrning är central i alla faser och ett samspel mellan fyra av de olika styrverktygen är avgörande för en framgångsrik implementering. Utmaningar inkluderar svårigheter med att samla in data, förstå omfattningen av direktivet och skapa en hållbarhetskultur i företagen., Background: The EU has introduced a new sustainability directive, known as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), which companies are required to comply with. The introduction of EU directives has standardized and increased the requirements for sustainability reporting for companies, leading to significant changes and challenges in how businesses govern and disclose their operations. CSRD necessitates the integration of sustainability, where Malmi and Brown’s (2008) model for Management Control Systems (MCS) can be applied. Previous research indicates that integrating sustainability into a company is challenging, highlighting the need for further research to understand how control tools interact with each other during the implementation of sustainability strategies. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop knowledge of how MCS is used in companies during the implementation of CSRD. The study aims to provide insights into how control tools interact during the implementation of CSRD and to identify the specific challenges that arise internally within companies during the implementation process. Method: This study is a qualitative study with an abductive research approach. Semi-structured interviews have been conducted with seven respondents in six companies. The interviewees are responsible for or actively involved in CSRD within the companies. Conclusion: Companies utilize four out of the five control tools during the implementation. Cultural control is central in all phases, and the interaction between four of the control tools is crucial for successful implementation. Challenges include difficulties in data collection, understanding the directive, and creating a sustainability culture within the companies.

Astronomical image subtraction is a method for generating a difference image from two images, which covers the same area but taken at different times, in order to see changes over time. Due to the images being taken at different times, one of the images has to be convolved, to match the atmospheric conditions ofthe other image. HOTPANTS is an open source software used for astronomical image subtraction. The problem is that HOTPANTS is written in serial C and therefore does not scale well with growing image sizes. There have been previous efforts to parallelize HOTPANTS, which include P-HOTPANTS and GBAISP. However, these projects are outdated or unavailable, respectively. The latest effort, BACH, is a reimplementation of HOTPANTS in C++, where the convolution and subtraction parts have been parallelized on a GPU using OpenCL. This thesis project is a continuation of BACH, called X-BACH, which aims to parallelize the remaining parts of the HOTPANTS algorithm using OpenCL. The results show that some parts of the HOTPANTS algorithm, excluding convolution and subtraction, are highly suitable for the GPU while other parts arenot suitable for the GPU. It is believed that some parts which are not suitable forthe GPU are highly suitable for CPU parallelization. Overall, running on an external GPU, X-BACH achieves a relative speed of 1 to 2 compared to BACH, and a relative of 0.8 to 2.5 compared to HOTPANTS. When running on an integrated GPU, X-BACH achieves a relative speed of 0.5 to 1.2 compared to BACH, and a relative speed of 0.3 to 2 compared to HOTPANTS. Some parts of the algorithm achieves a speedup of up to 10 times when parallelized on a GPU. In terms of accuracy, X-BACH generally obtains a maximum relative error in order of magnitude ranging from 10−7 to 10−1. However, on certain test images, the algorithm has been observed to be unstable.

Den pågående urbaniseringen tillsammans med en ökande befolkning har lett till att antalet människor som idag bor i städer jämfört med på landsbygden har ökat betydligt. I strävan efter en hållbar utveckling förespråkas förtätning, vilket i många fall innebär att urbana grönytor fragmenteras och rekreativa kvalitet kan försämras. En ofta tilldragande och attraktiv aspekt av stadsupplevelsen är deras vatten. I Skara rinner ån Drysan. Trots sitt centrala läge i staden är idag Drysanpromenadens potential som Skaras offentliga vattennära rekreationsstråk ännu delvis outnyttjad. Kontakten med vattnet är i många fall svag och utmed stråket finns idag få platser att slå sig ned på och vistas på samt få platser som främjar sociala interaktioner. Då förtätning av städer innebär att de hälsosamma aspekterna hos gröna områden och vatten riskerar att påverkas, växer behovet av en balanserad och genomtänkt utveckling för rekreationsvärdena inom staden sig allt starkare. Syftet med arbetet är att utveckla en befintlig åpromenad som tillvaratar och förhöjer dess rekreativa värden. Målet är att öka medvetenheten om rekreationsvärden i grönområden och vattenmiljöer och genom ett programförslag exemplifiera hur dessa värden kan förstärkas för att bidra till mer hållbara och hälsosammare städer. Huvudmetoden för arbetet utgjordes av evidensbaserad gestaltning utifrån en iterativ gestaltningsprocess. Processen omfattade flera olika moment uppdelade i en förstudie, en gestaltningsfas och en presentationsdel. Gestaltningen bygger på en förstudie där en kunskapsdel omfattande dokumentstudier, litteraturstudier, studiebesök av referensplatser samt inventering och analys av projektområdet syftar till att sammanställa kunskap om rekreativa värden gällande stråk, gröna och blå miljöer samt skapa förståelse för projektområdet. Informationen från förstudien har varvats med kreativ utforskning, för att slutligen landa i ett programförslag för Drysanpromenaden. Resultatet redovisas i en övergripa, The ongoing urbanization, coupled with a growing population, has led to a significant increase in the number of people living in cities compared to rural areas. In pursuit of sustainable development, densification is advocated, which in many cases entails the fragmentation of urban green spaces and potential deterioration in recreational quality. An often alluring and attractive aspect of the urban experience is water. In Skara, the Drysan river flows. Despite its central location in the city, the potential of the Drysan Promenade as Skara's public waterfront recreational route remains partially untapped. The contact with the water is often weak, and there are currently few places along the route to sit and linger, as well as limited places that promote social interactions. As urban densification poses a risk to the health aspects offered by green areas and water, the need for a balanced and thoughtful development approach to the recreational values within the city grows stronger. The purpose of the project is to develop an existing riverside promenade, capturing and enhancing its recreational values. The goal is to raise awareness of the recreational values in green areas and water environments and, through a program proposal, exemplify how these values can be strengthened to contribute to more sustainable and healthier cities. The primary method for this work was evidence-based design, based on an iterative design process. The process involved several stages, including a pre-study, a design phase, and a presentation section. The design is based on a pre-study that encompasses a knowledge section involving document studies, literature reviews, visits to reference sites, as well as an inventory and analysis of the project area, all aimed at compiling knowledge about the recreational values related to routes, green and blue environments, as well as creating an understanding of the project area. Studien tar en abduktiv ansats och intervjuer har gjorts med samtliga ordinarie ledamöter och ordförande i styrelsen. Teoretiska perspektiv: Litteraturöversikten presenterar den relevanta forskningen som rör bolagsstyrning och identitet. Resultat: Styrelsemedlemmar har olika inställning till uppdraget, enighet och neutralitet i arbetet samt styrelsens takhöjd. Dessa uppfattningar och dess följder har lett till två motsägande bilder av arbetet. Slutsats: Denna studie har bidragit med forskning om hur styrelsearbete kan utspela sig i praktiken.
