Social and Behavioral Sciences - Abstract
Character strengths are widely valued behavioral tendencies that are authentic, energizing, and enable optimal functioning (Linley 2008). Some examples of strengths are curiosity, humor, leadership and perseverance. When adolescents are asked to identify and use their strengths for personal aims, they report higher psychological well-being (Ghielen, van Woerkom, & Christina Meyers, 2017). Yet, the impact of strength use for self-growth vs. benefiting other people remains unexamined. This study sets out to test whether using strengths to benefit others vs. the self may have a different impact on facets of psychological well-being among adolescents.

FOS: Psychology ,Psychology ,Social and Behavioral Sciences - Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic is the most important issue facing the world today. The effects of this pandemic are health-related, economic, social, and cultural. This study is part of an international project to collect measures related to social & moral psychology and examine the relationship with attitudes and behavioural intentions related to COVID19. The measures include beliefs in conspiracy theories, cooperation, risk perception, social belonging, intellectual humility, national identification, collective narcissism, moral identity, political ideology, self-esteem, and cognitive reflection. The goal is to generate a massive multi-national sample of representative samples that can serve as a public good for the scientific community. This registration concerns the Canadian sample and additional research questions posed by those involved with collecting the Canadian sample.

Many organisations are having to rapidly transition to full remote working in order to meet the requirements of the UK government social distancing measures in response to COVID-19 (lockdown). At the same time, closures of schools have greatly increased the care burden on families. For these reasons, uptake of the flexible working arrangements remote working and part-time working should increase as a result of lockdown. Flexible working is critical for providing access to the workplace for those with caring responsibilities. However, when flexible working is perceived as a lack of job commitment and unavailable in more senior roles, it can lead to worse gender equality outcomes. In the UK, much of the gender pay gap is explained by the disproportionate uptake of part-time working among women. Analysis shows that for many people who move into part-time work, their progression does not just slow down, it stops entirely. Women are more likely to carry out the majority of unpaid care work and so are more likely to reduce their working hours in response to the higher care burden. As a result, the lockdown period could lead to greater long-term negative consequences for women as the length of experience in paid work, particularly full-time work and overtime, are disproportionately rewarded in terms of pay and progression. However, this moment could present some opportunities to progress gender equality in three ways. Firstly, if the majority of employees work remotely in an organisation, this could reduce penalties for those who need to work remotely. Secondly, organisations will be forced to overcome barriers to the implementation of flexible working by developing the infrastructure to support remote working, and rapidly reconfiguring many roles to become suited to part-time and/or remote working. Meanwhile, employees will develop new working habits. Thirdly, the increased care burden and disproportionate representation of women in key worker roles may result in a subgroup of men taking on a greater share of the care work at home. This research aims to measure changes in flexible working uptake and understand the extent to which different factors influence whether flexible working leads to positive or negative career outcomes by gender. Limiting the scope to those in work, we will measure changes from before lockdown, during the lockdown and several months after to track changes and whether they are maintained.

- Abstract
At the beginning of 2020, COVID-19 became a global problem. Despite all the efforts to emphasize the relevance of preventive measures, not everyone adhered to them. Thus, learning more about the characteristics determining attitudinal and behavioral responses to the pandemic is crucial to improving future interventions. In this study, we applied machine learning on the multinational data collected by the International Collaboration on the Social and Moral Psychology of COVID-19 (N = 51,404) to test the predictive efficacy of constructs from social, moral, cognitive, and personality psychology, as well as socio-demographic factors, in the attitudinal and behavioral responses to the pandemic. The results point to several valuable insights. Internalized moral identity provided the most consistent predictive contribution—individuals perceiving moral traits as central to their self-concept reported higher adherence to preventive measures. Similar results were found for morality as cooperation, symbolized moral identity, self-control, open-mindedness, and collective narcissism, while the inverse relationship was evident for the endorsement of conspiracy theories. However, we also found a non-neglible variability in the explained variance and predictive contributions with respect to macro-level factors such as the pandemic stage or cultural region. Overall, the results underscore the importance of morality-related and contextual factors in understanding adherence to public health recommendations during the pandemic

- Abstract
The impacts of COVID-19 on workers and workplaces across the globe have been dramatic. This broad review of prior research rooted in work and organizational psychology, and related fields, is intended to make sense of the implications for employees, teams, and work organizations. This review and preview of relevant literatures focuses on (a) emergent changes in work practices (e.g., working from home, virtual teamwork) and (b) emergent changes for workers (e.g., social distancing, stress, and unemployment). In addition, potential moderating factors (demographic characteristics, individual differences, and organizational norms) are examined given the likelihood that COVID-19 will generate disparate effects. This broad-scope overview provides an integrative approach for considering the implications of COVID-19 for work, workers, and organizations while also identifying issues for future research and insights to inform solutions. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2021 APA, all rights reserved) Public Significance Statement—COVID-19 has disrupted work and organizations across the globe. This overview integrates and applies prior research in work and organizational psychology as well as related fields in its examination of emergent changes for work practices as well as workers. This article also acknowledges and considers the disproportionate impacts that COVID-19 may have on workers depending on demographic characteristics, individual differences, and relevant organizational norms. In addition to helping make sense of the implications of COVID-19 for employees, teams, and work organizations, this review features roadmaps for future research and action.
