Background: Guidelines and regulations in response to the COVID-19 pandemic have significantly impacted the health care sector. We explore these impacts in the gender-based violence (GBV) services sector and, more specifically, in the context of women's shelters. Methods: Using an interpretive description and integrated knowledge mobilization approach, we interviewed 8 women's shelter clients, 26 staff, and conducted focus groups with 24 Executive Directors. Results: We found that pandemic responses challenged longstanding values that guide work in women's shelters, specifically feminist and anti-oppressive practices. Physical distancing, masking, and closure of communal spaces intended to slow or stop the spread of the novel coronavirus created barriers to the provision of care, made it difficult to maintain or create positive connections with and among women and children, and re-traumatized some women and children. Despite these challenges, staff and leaders were creative in their attempts to provide quality care, though these efforts, including workarounds, were not without their own challenges. The contribution aims to shed light on the dynamics of secondary victimization of mothers who survived gender-based violence with child protection social workers. It is based on two research studies conducted in South Tyrol, northern Italy, and gathers different perspectives: that of the professionals in the women's shelters, that of the child protection social workers, and that of the mothers who have survived gender-based violence and are in contact with child protection social workers. These different perspectives show which factors lead to the double-risk mothers who survived gender-based violence are confronted with. International research shows great parallels in how these situations manifest themselves in social work practices that are penalizing for both mothers and children involved (Bourassa et al., 2008; Crawford et al., 2009; Cooley & Frazer, 2006; Freymond, 2003; Johnson & Sullivan, 2008, Lapierre, 2008). The analysis showed that the risk of establishing dynamics of secondary victimization can be mainly linked to two elements: the first to the expectations of motherhood, and the second to the expectations of the victims. Concrete examples will illustrate the double risk mothers who have survived gender-based violence are confronted with if they are in contact with child protection social workers. This article introduces a collection of lectures on the Laws of Social Reproduction, supported by an EU research project. Social reproduction encompasses various aspects of human life, including biological reproduction, unpaid work, cultural reproduction, and the provision of services. Feminist scholars have extensively studied social reproduction, using Marxist and materialist feminist theories to analyze reproductive labor and challenge conceptual binaries. The project aims to examine reproductive labor in different sectors and explore the role of law in governing women's work and maintaining boundaries between different groups of women workers. The article also provides brief biographies of several prominent scholars and activists in the fields of ecological economics, feminist economics, and social reproduction, including Professor Agarwal, Professor Federici, Professor Sen, Professor Gago, and Professor Sangari. Objective: As part of a larger community-based, service-driven research project, the primary purpose of this pilot randomized study was to examine the feasibility and acceptability of delivering time-limited adaptations of parent–child interaction therapy (PCIT) and child–parent psychotherapy (CPP) within a sample of children experiencing homelessness. The secondary goal was to examine the promise of both interventions in improving parent/child outcomes. Method: One hundred forty-four young children (18 month–5 years old; Mage = 3.48, SD = 1.09; 43.1% female; 78.5% Black/African American; 27.1% Hispanic) and their mothers were recruited from a women's homeless shelter and randomly assigned to 12 weeks of either PCIT or CPP delivered by shelter clinicians on-site. Attendance, fidelity, and program satisfaction were obtained. Families completed pre- and postintervention assessments, including observational data on maternal verbalizations during a child-led play session. Results: Both time-limited PCIT and time-limited CPP were successfully implemented with similarly high levels of intervention fidelity (>90%) and satisfaction by mothers (85%). Completion rates were similar across both time-limited PCIT (76.6%) and time-limited CPP (71.4%). Both time-limited CPP and PCIT resulted in decreases in children's posttraumatic stress, parental stress, and increases in maternal positive verbalizations. Only time-limited PCIT resulted in significant improvements in externalizing behavior problems in children and reductions in maternal negative verbalizations. Conclusions: Time-limited PCIT and CPP are acceptable, feasible, and hold significant promise for helping families within a homeless shelter environment and by extension, other transitional and/or shelter environments. A full randomized trial is warranted to determine which program may offer a more effective intervention. What is the public health significance of this article?: This study shows how a service-driven, community–university partnership can play a large role in addressing the mental health needs of sheltered children and families by identifying their clinical needs and showing the feasibility, acceptability, and promise of providing evidence-based early intervention programs within a shelter setting. Time-limited versions of well-established early intervention programs like parent–child interaction therapy (PCIT) and child–parent psychotherapy (CPP) were feasible to implement and well-accepted by families. Both PCIT and CPP hold significant promise for helping families within a homeless shelter. A larger future randomized trial is warranted to determine whether PCIT may offer a more effective intervention targeting externalizing behavior problems and parenting relative to CPP. The paper attempts to explore notions of public-private dichotomy with reference to collective agency and inclusion. It looks at a women's shelter run by a missionary wife Julie Gundert of the Basel Mission in nineteenth-century Malabar. The missionaries played a key role in the introduction of printing and the development of a modern public sphere in the region: a space, nevertheless, restricted to men from the educated elite classes. Julie's shelter, meanwhile, provides an alternate cultural space where women, especially those from the excluded communities, the disabled, the abandoned and the lowest classes and castes could come together. The shelter is seen as a location of intimate and privatised cultural contact radically different from that practised in the formal, restrictive sites of the emerging public sphere; a space where subaltern cultures challenged the status of the visible public sphere as the key platform for social-cultural inclusion and agency. Most Indigenous women in Canada (61%) experience intimate partner violence (IPV), which is significantly worse than the high rate of 44 percent for other women in Canada. Despite the great risk for IPV, only three unfunded second-stage shelters for more than 600 First Nation reserves exist in Canada to provide First Nation women and their children a safe home. Second-stage housing offers IPV survivors transitional homes for an extended period that provide safety and renewal after their initial emergency shelter stays. This article documents the need for safe, nurturing, and culturally appropriate second-stage shelters for Indigenous women and their families to heal and rebuild. The authors provide two second-stage prototype designs based on domestic environmental analysis and concepts of houselessness, home, and co-housing. We discuss how these designs are one step in an action plan to protect Indigenous women and stop the genocide of Indigenous Peoples by supporting cultural, economic, health, and social development. The literature review and design concepts form an agenda to have design goals for housing IPV survivors that answers the "Calls to Justice for Murdered and Missing Women" and expands this needed service to every reserve. The present paper aimed to analyze the refuge of women in Brazil and compare the information with international in order to verify if the gender issue still has relevance in the requests. Therefore, at first, a historical construction was made around human rights and personality rights. Then, the analysis of the (in) equality of gender was carried out, verifying if there was, or still is, the search for the emancipation of women in the international community. After that, the data on women's refuge in Brazil were compared with the world situation. Although the cut referring to a country has been made, it is concluded that even in the refuge there are reflections of the absence of gender equality. Gender-based violence (GBV) is a pervasive public health concern with significant economic costs. While common forms of violence include physical, sexual, and psychological, there is growing research on the impacts of economic abuse. By hindering a women's economic self-sufficiency or self-efficacy, this form of abuse positions women to be dependent on their partners. The purpose of this study is to explore how resilience is influenced by economic abuse in rural Ontario in the context of GBV. This interpretive description study involved interviews with 14 women who experienced GBV and 12 service providers across eight rural women's shelters between November 2020 and June 2021. Both women and service providers identified barriers to women's resilience stemming from economic abuse, including different forms of economic abuse (e.g., being forbidden from working), a lack of economic self-sufficiency as a barrier to individual resilience, and the economic setbacks of rural communities to women's environmental resilience. Objective: Globally, domestic violence against women increased in severity over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic. Shelters supporting women experiencing temporary homelessness due to violence had to make major changes in service delivery to accommodate pandemic protocols, including how many families could stay in shelter, where they were allowed to reside, and how they were, and were not, able to interact with shelter staff and the outside world. The present study used a novel approach to spatial analysis to understand how pandemic protocols affected shelter space use. Method: Floor plans and written pandemic protocols were submitted by 15 women’s shelters in Ontario, Canada. Each pandemic protocol was analyzed and mapped onto its respective floor plans to determine how much space was lost under different modes of operation: normal (pre-pandemic), physical distancing (using pandemic protocols), and quarantine (using pandemic protocols during an outbreak). Three types of shelter space were analyzed to understand what types of spaces shelters were losing: Primary (bedrooms, bathrooms, and laundry areas), Secondary (community areas and staff offices), and Tertiary (hallways and storage). Background: Unmet health needs of women with head injuries sustained by intimate partner violence (IPV) include risk of traumatic brain injury (TBI). The purpose of this evaluation was to explore the potential effectiveness of TBI screening as a health promotion strategy for shelter-seeking women with IPV head injuries. We wanted to learn if shelter-seeking women, willing to disclose IPV, would accept TBI screening if offered. Methods: An extended version of the HELPS TBI screening tool and survey of daily symptoms and health needs were used to screen new residents of an urban shelter for women. Results: The participants (N?=?18) primarily were educated black women with one or more self-reported IPV-related head injury. Most participants (77.8%) had positive TBI screens for probable brain injury. The majority (88.8%) lived with one or more daily symptoms they did not have before sustaining a IPV head injury. The symptoms reported most frequently were depression (88.9%), anxiety (77.8%), and headache (66.7%). All participants had one or more unmet health need. Although most (77.8%) needed to see a primary care provider, mental health care was the most important health need identified. Conclusions: TBI screening could be considered an effective health promotion strategy for IPV survivors if screening facilitates treatment for positive screens and other unmet health needs. The article describes the implementation of the Marburg Model for intervention in cases of domestic violence in Hesse. The model was introduced in 2020 and has been implemented statewide since 2022. It is based on fast and intensive cooperation between the police, public prosecutor's office, and court, involving external organizations. The implementation during the pandemic was challenging but successful so far. The Marburg Model aims to strengthen victim protection and hold perpetrators accountable by involving court assistance at an early stage. Additional positions for court assistance have been created to implement the model. The practical implementation is based on preliminary minimum standards that can be adapted to regional conditions. The police directly report certain offenses to court assistance. The Marburg Model for intervention in cases of domestic violence provides for disputed cases to be handed over to the public prosecutor's offices to make a decision on the use of court assistance. Collaboration and networking are established to enable appreciative and targeted cooperation. Court assistance works closely with victims and defendants to identify individual needs and problem situations and develop support options. Court assistance reports on the content of the discussions to the public prosecutor's office and provides a statement on the sanctioning of the defendants. The implementation of the Marburg Model faced challenges in collaborating with external organizations such as women's shelters. The article describes the Marburg Model, a field of work for court assistance in Hesse that deals with domestic violence. It emphasizes that the work of court assistance should not replace that of counseling centers but rather complement it. It is recommended that the judiciary and intervention centers work closely together to identify interfaces and synergies and differentiate between the various services. It also points out the challenges that can arise from language barriers and suggests that interpreter costs should be covered by the public prosecutor's office. While most shelters for abused women in Sweden used to be run by the women's movement, about half of the shelters are, today, operated by private companies. The social services' procurement of these shelters has resulted in increased demands for quality and monitoring. This article examines perceptions of quality regarding shelters among local politicians on municipal level and managers in the social services. The analysis shows that perceptions of quality range from adherence to the social services' assignment orders to evidence, costeffectiveness, and competence among staff both at the social services and shelters. Moreover, an overly "caring" attitude among staff both at the social services and shelters is portrayed as problematic and unprofessional. The article concludes that the social services' work with quality, procurement of, and placements in shelters can constitute an unwieldy conflict surface where logics and practices typical of both market and welfare are pitted against each other. Tens of thousands of women and children are forced to relocate in the UK to escape domestic violence in a mass of individual and hidden journeys. As Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the UK, the state should have duties to minimise their losses, and support their resettlement; but such duties are not currently acknowledged at either local or national scale. The scale of government is crucial in understanding – and potentially addressing – this failure; and the gendered and spatial inequalities that result. Domestic violence services – such as women’s refuges – are generally provided at the scale of local government; whereas women commonly cross administrative boundaries to seek help. Women who stay put, remain local or go elsewhere as part of their help-seeking strategies need different types of services; highlighting the service infrastructure that should be developed to address their rights and needs. This article presents analysis of administrative data from services – over 180,000 records of service access by women in England over 8 years – highlighting the patterns of flows between local authorities and within regions; and concluding with the inappropriateness of focusing service responses on the local authority scale. It uses this evidence to argue for policy and practice changes that could journeyscape the current service landscape to ensure a more effective response, based on the rights and needs of women and children. Domestic violence shelters present a unique context within the congregate living sector in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Shelters supporting women during the pandemic had to change service delivery models to include housing women in hotels to adhere to government restrictions and ensure women, and their children, were not homeless. The purpose of this study was to explore the impact of hotel use as alternative housing for women experiencing domestic violence during the COVID-19 pandemic in Ontario, Canada. We used interpretive description methodology, including in-depth interviews with 8 women using shelter services, 26 shelter workers and 5 focus groups with 24 executive directors of women’s shelters and other organizations who serve women who have experienced domestic violence. We identified and explored three main tensions in housing women at hotels compared to shelters: 1) autonomy/independence versus support, 2) a better option, the only option, and/or a safety concern, and 3) adequacy of hotels as housing. Drawbacks and benefits of the use of hotels as housing for women in the context of domestic violence are explored and recommendations are highlighted.

What is particularly apparent is white feminists' lack of interest in the Stolen Generations, a silence that might have been fractured by exploring material beyond the white feminist archive.
