Cacopsylla sibirica (Loginova, 1966), comb. nov. Psylla sibirica Loginova, 1966: 24. Type material examined. This species was described in Psylla from Russia (Yakutskaya Republika) (Loginova 1966). It is congeneric with Cacopsylla mali (Schmidberger, 1836), the type species of Cacopsylla, and is formally transferred here to Cacopsylla.

Psyllinae Latreille, 1807 Comments. Kwon & Kwon (2020) referred Anomoneura Schwarz to the subfamily Anomoneurinae. Immatures of Anomoneura resemble morphologically those of Psylla and Spanioneura (Ossiannilsson 1992; Liao & Yang 2018) suggesting a close phylogenetic relationship of the three genera. We, therefore, follow Burckhardt et al. (2021) and treat Anomoneura as a member of the Psyllinae. Kwon & Kwon (2020) subdivided the genus Psylla Geoffroy, 1762 into the subgenera Koreopsylla Kwon & Kwon, 2020 and Psylla s. str. as well as the genus Cacopsylla Ossiannilsson, 1970 into the subgenera Cacopsylla s. str., Edentatipsylla Li, 2005 (misspelt as Edentipsylla), Hepatopsylla Ossiannilsson, 1970, Megapteripsylla Kwon & Kwon, 2020 and Thamnopsylla Loginova, 1978. Cacopsylla visci (Curtis, 1835), the type species of the monotypic subgenus Koreopsylla, does not match the diagnosis and circumscription of Psylla provided by Cho et al. (2019b) and Burckhardt et al. (2021), respectively. Rather,the species agrees with the concept of Cacopsylla by Burckhardt et al.(2021).For this reason, Koreopsylla, syn. nov., is synonymised with Cacopsylla and C. visci is referred to Cacopsylla rather than to Psylla (Koreopsylla). The splitting of Cacopsylla into subgenera by Kwon & Kwon (2020) is problematic as these subdivisions are, at least in part, artificial. In the «best ML tree» of Percy et al. (2018: Figure S1) species previously referred to the subgenera Cacopsylla s. str. (represented by 2 species) and Thamnopsylla (2 spp.) constitute each a monophyletic clade but not those to Hepatopsylla (15 spp.). Kwon & Kwon (2020) treated Cacopsylla tobirae (Miyatake, 1964) in the subgenus Edentatipsylla (misspelt as Edentipsylla) and Cacopsylla bibari (Kwon, 1983) in the subgenus Hepatopsylla. Both species are associated with Pittosporum tobira (Pittosporaceae) and are probably closely related, i.e. congeneric, though differing in the absence/presence of a genual spine. Similarly, Cacopsylla japonica (Kuwayama, 1955) is closely related to C. albopontis (Kuwayama, 1908), C. lineaticeps (Kwon, 1983) and C. pseudosieboldiani (Konovalova & Loginova, 1985) and shares the host association with Acer (Sapindaceae). Kwon & Kwon (2020) refer C. japonica to the monotypic subgenus Megapteripsylla, based on the broad forewing, but treat the other three species in the subgenus Hepatopsylla. For this reason we follow Burckhardt et al. Unknown. Comments. Cacopsylla hanlabori was described by Kwon (1983) from a single female from Korea and is, according to Kwon & Kwon’s (2020) key, similar to C. elaeagni and C. elaeagnicola. It is said to differ from related species in the body colour and head structure. Material recently collected in Japan differs from C. elaeagni in the more slender genal processes and forewings (H. Inoue, pers. comm.). Whether this Japanese material belongs to C. hanlabori cannot be judged at present. Kwon & Kwon (2020) synonymised four Chinese species with C. fulguralis which, however, are morphologically close to the Indian C. quadrimaculata (Mathur, 1975). We have not examined specimens of the four Chinese species and cannot judge if they are synonymous with C. quadrimaculata. Pending a revision of relevant type material we consider the Chinese taxa as good species: C. cyphospila Li, 2011, stat. rev., C. fluctimaculata Li, 2005, stat. rev., C. gossypinmaculosa Li, 2011, stat. rev., and C. nigrigenimacula Li, 2011, stat. rev. (misspelt as C. nigrigenimaculata). Cacopsylla fulguralis (material examined from France, Germany, Korea and Switzerland; KNA, NAAS, NHMB, SNU) differs from C. quadrimaculata (material examined from Nepal; NHMB) in the larger body size, the longer genal processes, the longer antennae and the longer apical process of the female proctiger. Cacopsylla maculiumbellatae (Li & Yang, 1987) (paratypes examined; MHNG), another close species from China, constitutes a good species. Kwon & Kwon (2020) transferred Cacopsylla moiwasana to Acizzia “justified by characters of the head, forewing and male genitalia”. Last instar immatures of C. moiwasana have 7-segmented antennae and marginal sectasetae on the caudal plate (Inoue 2004), a combination of characters found in many Cacopsylla spp. but not in Acizzia which has 9-segmented antennae and lacks marginal sectasetae on the caudal plate (Burckhardt & Mifsud 1998). We therefore adopt the generic combination used by Inoue (2004) and Cho et al. (2019a): Cacopsylla moiwasana, comb. rev. from Acizzia. The comparison of specimens of Cacopsylla moiwasana from Korea (SNU) and paratypes of Psylla micromeli (IBSS) showed that they are conspecific. According to Kwon & Kwon (2020), Triozidae “seems to be a complex artificial assemblage with broad and obscure traditional taxonomic concepts”. This is in stark contrast to Percy et al. (2018) and Burckhardt et al. (2021) who showed that the monophyly of the family is strongly supported by molecular and morphological characters. Kwon & Kwon (2020) divided the Triozidae into three tribes, two of which are monotypic, viz. Epitriozini and Trichochermini. Epitrioza is not included in Percy’s et al. (2018) analyses but Trichochermes is, which is nested within the Triozini of Kwon & Kwon (2020), rendering this tribe paraphyletic. As there is no gain in information in keeping monotypic and paraphyletic tribes we follow here Burckhardt et al. Cacopsylla pruniisa psyllid that has been known since 1998 as the vector of the bacterium ‘Candidatus Phytoplasma prunorum’, responsible for the European stone fruit yellows (ESFY), a disease that affects species of Prunus. This disease is one of the major limiting factors for the production of stone fruits, most notably apricot (Prunus armeniaca) and Japanese plum (P. salicina), in all EU stone fruit-growing areas. The psyllid vector is widespread in the Western Palearctic, and evidence for the presence of the phytoplasma that it transmits to species of Prunus has been found in 15 of the 27 EU countries. Recent studies showed that C. pruni is actually composed of two cryptic species, which can be differentiated bymolecular markers. A literature review on the distribution of C. pruni was published in 2012, but it only provided presence or absence information at the country level and without distinction between the two cryptic species. Since 2012, numerous new records of the vector in several European countries have been published. We ourselves have acquired a large amountof data from sampling in France and other European countries. We have also carried out a thorough systematic literature review to find additional records, including all the original sources mentioningC. pruni (or its synonyms) since the first description by Scopoli in 1763. Our aim was to create an exhaustive georeferenced occurrence catalog, in particular in countries that are occasionnaly mentioned in the literature with little detail. Finally, for countries that seem suitable for the proliferation of C. pruni (USA, Canada, Japan, China, etc.), we digged deeper into the literature and reliablesources (e.g. checklist)to better subtanciateits current absence from those regions. Information on the distribution ranges of these vector psyllids is of crucial interest in order to best predict the vulnerability of stone fruit producing countries to the ESFY threat in the foreseeable future. We give free access to a unique file of 1975 records of all occurrence data in our possession concerning C. pruni, which we have gathered through more than twenty years of sampling efforts in Europe or through intensive text mining. We have made every effort to retrieve the source information for the records extracted from litterature (1201 records). Thus, we always give the title of the original reference, together with the page(s) citing C. pruni and, if possible, the year of sampling. To makethe results of this survey publicly available, we give a URL to access the literature sources. In most cases, this link allows to freely download a PDFfile. We also give access to information extracted from GBIF (162 exploitable data points on 245 occurrences found in the database), which we thoroughly checked and often supplemented to make the information more easily exploitable. We give access to our own unpublished georeferenced and genotyped record from 612samples taken over the last 20 years in several European countries (Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, etc.). Theseinclude two countries (Portugal and North Macedonia) for which the presence of C. pruni had notbeen reported before.Asour specimens have been genotyped (74 sites with species A solely, 202 with species B solely, and 310 with species A+B), our new data enable a better view of the geographical distribution of the two species at the Palaearctic scale.

The Psyllidae family is the most diverse within Psylloidea, with more than 1,300 species worldwide. Some psyllid species are important pests mainly of fruit trees, forest and ornamental plants. Despite being an economically relevant group, there are few studies on its biology, geographic distribution, natural enemies or host plant associations for many Argentinean psyllid species. This work records one species from Argentina for the first time, extends the distribution of another two psyllid species and provides information on host plants. The classification of the superfamily Psylloidea is revised to incorporate findings from recent molecular studies, and to integrate a reassessment of monophyla primarily based on molecular data with morphological evidence and previous classifications. We incorporate a reinterpretation of relevant morphology in the light of the molecular findings and discuss conflicts with respect to different data sources and sampling strategies. Seven families are recognised of which four (Calophyidae, Carsidaridae, Mastigimatidae and Triozidae) are strongly supported, and three (Aphalaridae, Liviidae and Psyllidae) weakly or moderately supported. Although the revised classification is mostly similar to those recognised by recent authors, there are some notable differences, such as Diaphorina and Katacephala which are transferred from Liviidae to Psyllidae. Five new subfamilies and one new genus are described, and one secondary homonym is replaced by a new species name. A new or revised status is proposed for one family, four subfamilies, four tribes, seven subtribes and five genera. One tribe and eight genera / subgenera are synonymised, and 32 new and six revised species combinations are proposed. All recognised genera of Psylloidea (extant and fossil) are assigned to family level taxa, except for one which is considered a nomen dubium.

Master; The aim of this study was to describe populations structure and investigate the phylogeography of the psyllid cryptic species complex, Cacopsylla pruni, at the west palearctic scale. Therefore, we conducted several population genetic analysis (haplotype networks, discriminant analysis of principal components, bayesian clustering, phylogenetic analysis, statistics computations, etc) and an Approximate Bayesian Computation(ABC) analysis. We used several types of markers such as sequences of mitochondrial (COI-t) and nuclear (ITS2) genes, and 8 microsatellite markers. We confirmed that C. pruni is a complex of two, and only two, cryptic species (A&B), and we unveiled the spatial and genetic structureof their populations. The two species would have diverged from a common ancestor 40-50 My ago in what we call France today. Then, the A species would have diverged in Spain before the B species diverged toward the East. The french populations of both species have also experienced demographic expansions after their divergence before the populations shrank at more recent times (between 3-10 My and 16.000 years ago depending on the species). Ourstudy allowed to propose new hypothesis on the evolutionary history of the two species of the C. pruni complex. Plusieurs types de marqueurs ont été utilisés : des séquences d’un gène mitochondrial (COI-t) et d’un gène nucléaire (ITS2), et 8 marqueurs microsatellites. Nous avons confirmé que le complexe était composé de deux et uniquement deux espèces cryptiques (A & B) et nous avons décrit la structuration génétique et spatiale des populations de C. pruni. Ces deux espèces auraient divergé d’un ancêtre commun il y a 40-50 Ma en France. L’espèce A aurait ensuite divergé en Espagne avant que l’espèce B ne diverge vers l’Est. Les populations françaises de ces deux groupes ont également vécu des expansions démographiques après leur divergence avant que les populations ne rétrécissent àdes temps plus récent (entre 3-10 Ma et 16.000 ans selon l’espèce). Notre étude a permis de poser de nouvelles hypothèses sur l’histoire évolutive des deux espèces du complexe C. pruni. Nous proposons des perspectives de travail pour préciser nos résultats.

Cacopsylla burckhardti Luo, Li, Ma & Cai, 2012 (Hemiptera, Psylloidea, Psyllidae) is a pear psyllid species, distributed in the East Asia. The complete mitogenome of C. burckhardti is obtained in this study for the first time. The mitogenome of C. burckhardti is circular form and 14,798 bp long, which consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNAs and two rRNAs. The base composition is 38.80% for A, 34.89% for T, 9.99% for G and 16.33% for C, with the higher A + T contents (73.69%). The phylogenetic analysis, using 13 protein-coding genes, shows that C. burckhardti is clustered with other Cacopsylla species and nested in the Psyllidae clade within the superfamily Psylloidea.

Antennal segments 1–8 yellowish brown, segments 6–8 dark brown apically, segments 9 and 10 entirely dark brown. Genal processes yellowish brown with darker apex. Compound eyes grey, ocelli reddish brown. Pronotum yellowish brown with six light spots. Mesopraescutum yellowish brown with a light mid-line. Mesoscutum yellowish brown with six longitudinal light stripes. Legs generally dirty yellow. Forewing transparent with light brown veins. Terminalia yellowish brown; tip of paramere and female proctiger dark brown. Structure. Head approximately as wide as thorax; vertex 0.5–0.6 times as long as broad; genal processes slightly longer than vertex along mid-line, with subparallel axes, strongly narrowing in proximal half, slender in distal half, obliquely truncate apically, with long setae (Fig. 1B). Antenna 1.8–2.0 times head width; relative length of antennal segment 10 and terminal setae as 1.0: 1.0: 1.4 (Fig. 1D). Thorax moderately arched. Metatibia 0.7–0.8 times as long as head width, with well-developed genual spine and five grouped sclerotised apical spurs as 1+3+1. Metabasitarsus with two lateral sclerotised spurs. Forewing membranous, oval, 3.6–4.0 times as long as head width, 2.4–2.5 times as long as broad; pterostigma long, relatively evenly narrowing to apex; cell cu 1 slightly longer than high; surface spinules restricted to patches along wing margin and sometimes narrow fields in the middle of cells (Fig. 1F, H). Hindwing shorter than forewing, membranous; costal setae, distal to costal brake, not grouped; veins M and Cu with short common stem. Terminalia as in Fig. 2. Male proctiger simple, 0.4–0.5 times as long as head width, moderately to densely beset with long setae in distal four fifth. Male subgenital plate subglobular sparsely beset with long setae (Fig. 2A). Paramere about as long as proctiger; digitiform, hardly curved with subparallel fore and hind margins, evenly tapering apically ending in sclerotised, forward pointing hook which is slightly angular in dorsal view (Figs. 3B, D, 4B); beset with long fine setae on outer and inner face, except for basal quarter (Fig. 2B). Distal segment of aedeagus slightly longer than parameres, with very long and slender stalk and subrectangular apical inflation bearing a blunt hook apically (Fig. 3F). Female proctiger 1.8–1.9 times as long as head width, with almost straight dorsal outline that is weakly raised in distal third, very slender in apical third with narrowly rounded apex; beset with short setae around circumanal ring, long setae in basal half laterally, a submedian longitudinal row of very long setae on either side in apical half and dense peg setae in apical third (Fig. 2E), laterally; proctiger 4.7–5.4 times as long as circumanal ring, composed of two unequal rows of pores; proctiger 1.3–1.4 times as long as subgenital plate, which is subacute apically; covered with long sparse setae in apical three quarters laterally and ventrally, with sparse, shortish setae laterally and dense peg setae in the apical half which are longer than those on proctiger (Fig. 2F). Dorsal and ventral valvulae hardly curved, lacking teeth. Measurements (5 ♂, 5 ♀, in mm). Head width 0.65–0.70; antenna length 1.30–1.40 mm; metatibia length 0.55–0.62; forewing length 2.50–3.10; male proctiger length 0.25–0.27; female proctiger length 1.20–1.25. Distribution. Cacopsylla nasuta (Horváth), which is newly recorded from Iran, is redescribed based on specimens collected on Hippophae rhamnoides. The species is morphologically similar to but distinct from Cacopsylla hippophaes (Foerster). Morphological characters are discussed for separating the two taxa. It is concluded that C. nasuta is restricted to the mountain ranges of Iran, Central Asia, Siberia and probably the Caucasus, and C. hippophaes to Europe. Probably all previous records of C. hippophaes from Asia concern C. nasuta. Specimens from Afghanistan and Turkey, provisionally referred to C. nasuta, are not conspecific with specimens from Iran.
