In the past, pear psyllids have been misidentified repeatedly in the literature (Burckhardt & Hodkinson 1986; Luo et al. 2012; Cho et al. 2017b, 2020). Cacopsylla burckhardti was reported from Korea also under the names Cacopsylla pyrisuga, Psylla pyrisuga or Psylla (Thamnopsylla) pyrisuga.
