This paper discusses the factors having influences on learning listening skill in a case study non-English majored student at Saigon Techology University (STU), Vietnam. Five main factors, including 18 elements, were identified: texts, listeners, speakers, tasks, and environment. The data were collected through questionnaire, including multiple choice questions and open questions, from 319 students. The results show that the texts and the listeners are 2 factors having close relation and influence each other with different rankings of different features; interesting, “physical and psychological states” is not the important element in this case. Based on statistical results, from a view of readability, the paper deeply analyzes these features to find the solutions in designing course syllabus, selecting materials, proposing teaching methods and improving the listening learning environment to meet the learning outcome; especially, achieving the outcome standard “B1”, shown the scale by the international TOEIC test, being trained at the school.

The main purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between Writing feedback orientation (WFO) and self-regulated learning (SRL) Writing L2 strategies in online teaching during COVID-19. 200 EFL students from Van Lang University in Vietnam were recruited to participate in this study from a variety of courses (98 first-year students and 102 second-year students), using the questions from Jian Xu's study as a guide (2021). Data from this study are examined using qualitative, quantitative, and theoretical studies methodologies. Evidence from experiments has been gathered and categorized a number of guidelines that students follow when exercising in writing with a focus on feedback and self-controlled learning Writing techniques to develop their writing abilities. The findings revealed that EFL students had developed an optimistic response toward written corrective feedback (WCF), which is related to SRL strategies; at the same time, the teachers' and students' online interactions are also associated with teachers' feedback, which has created a confident academic online space for students accomplishing further tasks during COVID-19.

Zeolite Socony Mobil-5 (ZSM-5) was successfully synthesized by a hydrothermal method from the silicon dioxide (SiO2) precursor prepared from rice husk ash. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles were decorated on ZSM-5 substrate by a sol-gel method. ZSM-5/TiO2 materials were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area analysis. ZSM-5 was successfully synthesized in crystal structure with an average crystallite size of 3-5 mm. TiO2 nanoparticles with the size of 3-5 nm were distributed on the surface of ZSM-5. ZSM-5/TiO2 materials were used as a photocatalyst to remove alpha – cypermethrin, a kind of the pesticide residues. The results showed that the removal efficiency was 90% with the initial concentration of alpha - cypermethrin of 160 mg L-1. ZSM-5/TiO2 would be a very potential material for using as a photocatalyst for the treatment of persistent organic pollutants.

Background: Medication adherence in asthmatic patients enhances the effectiveness of treatments, but some studies in low and middle-income countries still show some limitations. Our study aimed to determine if pharmacist-led interventions could increase medication adherence, improve treatment effectiveness, and relieve symptom severity in outpatients with asthma. Methods: We conducted a randomized, controlled trial on 247 asthmatic outpatients (aged ≥ 16) with a 1:1 ratio randomization at the hospitalization time and repeated after 1-month discharge. The primary outcome was to detect the difference in medication adherence between groups. Adherence was assessed by the general medication adherence scale (GMAS). Data collected by questionnaire was coded and entered into SPSS_20 for statistical analysis; Results: 247 patients (123 intervention, 124 control) were enrolled (61.1% male). After intervention, the adherence rate was higher among the intervention group than the control group (94.3% vs. 82.8%, p = 0.001). Patient behavior and knowledge were enhanced in the intervention group (p < 0.05). Asthma symptoms were relieved in the intervention group (p = 0.014). Pharmacist-led interventions on adherence rate were higher with OR: 3.550, 95% CI: 1.378–9.143, p = 0.009. Conclusions: pharmaceutical intervention could improve medication adherence, treatment efficacy, and the outcome should not be taken for granted; further research should be carried out in this regard.

Introduction: Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness and the second leading cause of blindness in general. Early detection and timely treatment help reduce the progression of the disease, indirectly limit the economic burden and ensure the quality of life for patients. Currently, access to glaucoma prevention medical services is difficult in developing countries due to limited access to eye care facilities. Objective: To assess the effectiveness of interventions to increase the access to glaucoma services of people over 40 years old in Hue city. Methods: Applied the study design for community intervention with the comparison between intervened and control groups. Results: Our intervention approach included 3 groups of activities: active communication to change behaviors, medical staff training to improve knowledge and practice, treatment and management for glaucoma patients, suspected glaucoma cases or those at risk factors for glaucoma. Results showed that, in the intervention group, the percentage of people with good knowledge increased from 2.5% to 49.1%, good attitude increased from 3.4% to 51.6%, good practice increased from 2.3% to 46.3%. Regarding the improvement of access to glaucoma services, the proportion of people having annual eye exams increased from 30.7% to 49.9%, the figure for having glaucoma screening increased from 26.9% to 59.0%, proportion of those who were glaucoma patients, suspected and at risk with glaucoma that regularly monitored is 90.8%, percentage of those completely followed medication used instruction is 60%. In terms of the effective of the intervention program, the change in glaucoma good practice is 43.2%, the change in having annual eye examination is 46.7%, and the change in having glaucoma screening is 57.7%. Post-translational modifications on histones are well known to regulate chromatin structure and function, but much less information is available on modifications of the centromeric histone H3 variant and their effect at the kinetochore. Here, we report two modifications on the centromeric histone H3 variant CENP-A/Cse4 in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, methylation at arginine 143 (R143me) and lysine 131 (K131me), that affect centromere stability and kinetochore function. Both R143me and K131me lie in the core region of the centromeric nucleosome, near the entry/exit sites of the DNA from the nucleosome. Unexpectedly, mutation of Cse4-R143 (cse4-R143A) exacerbated the kinetochore defect of mutations in components of the NDC80 complex of the outer kinetochore (spc25-1) and the MIND complex (dsn1-7). The analysis of suppressor mutations of the spc25-1 cse4-R143A growth defect highlighted residues in Spc24, Ndc80, and Spc25 that localize to the tetramerization domain of the NDC80 complex and the Spc24-Spc25 stalk, suggesting that the mutations enhance interactions among NDC80 complex components and thus stabilize the complex. Furthermore, the Set2 histone methyltransferase inhibited kinetochore function in spc25-1 cse4-R143A cells, possibly by methylating Cse4-K131. Taken together, our data suggest that Cse4-R143 methylation and Cse4-K131 methylation affect the stability of the centromeric nucleosome, which is detrimental in the context of defective NDC80 tetramerization and can be compensated for by strengthening interactions among NDC80 complex components.

PurposeThis study examines the relationship between partners' locus of control and their spouses' domains of job satisfaction (job satisfaction and its domains, personal income and promotion) among Australian couples.Design/methodology/approachData were obtained from the Household, Income and Labor Dynamics of Australia (HILDA) Survey. Various estimation strategies including ordinary least squares (OLS), Mundlak approach and instrumental variable (IV) method are used to reveal the relationship between spouse's locus of control and domains of job satisfaction.FindingsTo reduce sex heterogeneity, the analysis used in this study is disaggregated by sex. In particular, the findings of this study show that wives' locus of control positively influences husbands' satisfaction with pay and working hours, while there is no relationship between husbands' locus of control and wives' domains of job satisfaction.Social implicationsThe study's findings emphasize the importance of locus of control in couples. A good work–life balance and a healthy marital relationship potentially facilitate positive effects of characteristics from the partner on employees' job satisfaction. Thus, on the organizational level, employers may consider creating a working environment that promotes a healthy marital relationship for their staff, including flexible working schedules, work from home options, family days or family-extended staff events.Originality/valueThis study is the first to reveal the relationship between spousal locus of control and domains of job satisfaction, enriching the current literature on this topic.

The Kyoto Protocol has received much criticism for its effectiveness as well as the spillover effect (i.e. carbon leakage and competitiveness loss). This paper provides the first evidence for the effect of the Kyoto Protocol on the bilateral trade in environmental goods, which can mitigate and prevent environmental damage. Using the generalized synthetic control method, I construct the counterfactual of trading pairs with Kyoto commitment and show that the export of environmental goods by Kyoto countries increases by 29–30% after the protocol enters into force. The paper further examines the top exporters (Germany and Japan) individually and also reports positive effects. Technology transfer induced by project-based mechanisms under the Kyoto Protocol, in particular Clean Development Mechanism, is found to be the potential driving force.

Developing new antimicrobial agents towards Magnaporthe oryzae based on Piper betle extracts is practicable if an inhibition mechanism is known. The information for the retrieval was collected from experimental investigations and computational researches on the inhibitability of the plant extract compositions (P1 – P14) towards the fungus trehalose-6-phosphate synthase (PDB-6JBR). Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry characterisation determines 4-Chromanol (P5), 1’-Hydroxychavicol acetate (P6), Eugenol acetate (P7), and 4-Allyl-1,2-diacetoxybenzene (P8) making up the majority of Piper betle extract composition. Bio-assays provide experimental evidence of a total antifungal effect towards M. oryzae. Docking-based simulation confirms the significant static stability of P5-6JBR, P6-6JBR, P7-6JBR, and P8-6JBR. QSARIS analysis exceptionalises bio-compatibility of P5, P6, P7, and P8. The results prove the antifungal potentiality of Piper betle extracts and suggest trehalose-6-phosphate synthase as a promising target for M. oryzae inhibition.

Introduction: Glaucoma is a common eye disease that is quite dangerous to public health as one of the major causes of permanent blindness. Although glaucoma can be prevented, most glaucoma patients are underdiagnosed. It’s require a screening system to help patients detect glaucoma and treat it promptly. Objective: 1) To describe the glaucoma situation of person over 40 years old in Hue city. 2) To find out some factors related to glaucoma at study sites. Methods: A desciptive cross-sectional method was conducted with 2025 people over 40 years old in 27 wards of Hue city. Results: The percentage of glaucoma is 4.7%, with closed glaucoma accounting for 55.2%, with 9.1% of people suspected of glaucoma. The percentage of glaucoma patients suffering from blindness was 21.7%. There was an association between glaucoma and age, gender, hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, family history of glaucoma, previous history of ocular surgery. Conclusions: The percentage of glaucoma is 4.7%, blindness is 21.7%, glaucoma is related to age, gender, hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, family history of glaucoma, preoperative eye surgery. Aujourd’hui, en France, l’industrie pharmaceutique s’intéresse de plus en plus à l’écosystème dans lequel elle évolue et intègre dans sa stratégie tous les acteurs en santé, incluant désormais les patients. Depuis vingt ans, le rôle de ces derniers n’a cessé de prendre de l’ampleur, jusqu’à devenir des patients « experts » de leur propre maladie. En parallèle, l’accélération de l’innovation a également bouleversé les codes du secteur de la santé : le marketing pharmaceutique doit donc s’adapter, et se doit de mettre le patient au cœur de sa stratégie. Partageant l’ambition commune d’améliorer le parcours de santé de tous les usagers en France, une collaboration entre le patient expert et le marketing pharmaceutique semble évidente, mais non sans difficulté. En effet, d’un côté, la notion de patient expert n’est pas encore bien connue du corps médical et leur légitimité est souvent remise en cause. De l’autre, le marketing pharmaceutique a mauvaise presse à la suite de certains scandales sanitaires. Bien que des solutions aient été mises en en place, d’autres actions sont à mener pour établir un partenariat juste, responsable et basé sur une confiance mutuelle, afin d’obtenir le marketing pharmaceutique adapté, au service des patients.

Carvone and geraniol, well‐known by their biological activity, could be promising natural inhibitors for angiotensin‐converting enzyme 2 (UniProtKB‐Q9BYF1), SARS‐CoV‐2 main protease (PDB‐6LU7), and SARS‐CoV‐2 spike glycoprotein (PDB‐6VSB). Quantum properties of R‐(‐)‐carvone (CA1), S‐(+)‐carvone (CA2), and trans‐geraniol (GE) were examined using density functional theory (DFT). Their inhibitability towards the targeted proteins was evaluated using molecular docking simulation. Lipinski's criteria were utilised to preliminarily screen drug‐likeness of the potential inhibitors. Quantum analysis suggests that the compounds are highly favourable for intermolecular interaction towards protein structures. The overall inhibitability of the ligands follows the order GE > CA2 > CA1. Their biologically rigid conformation is given by RMSD registering under 2 Å in any systems. The expected inhibition is explainable by topographical complementarity between the inhibitory aducts. All the candidates are predicted compatible with pharmaceutical applications in physiological environments. Their high polarisability is also conducive to inhibitory activity towards highly polarised protein‐structures. The study proposes carvone and geraniol to be promising for natural medication‐assisted agents supporting treatment against infection caused by SARS‐CoV‐2.

According to recent epidemiological statistics, up to this moment, the disease is the most recorded peroxisomal disorder. ABCD1 is a gene related to ALD, with more than 850 unique mutations have been reported. Early diagnosis of the disease would help to consult families with ALD to plan for interventions to prevent passing along the pathogenic mutations to their children.Material and Methods: A heterozygous ABCD1 gene mutation related to ALD found in a Vietnamese woman was used to design primers for the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to amplify the segment spanning the mutation. Then, combining sequencing methods for the PCR products, especially Sanger sequencing and next-generation sequencing (NGS), a protocol was developed to detect mutations on the ABCD1 gene to apply for the DNA samples of in-vitro fertilization (IVF) embryos biopsied at the blastocyst stage to screen for pathogenic alleles.Results: The established protocol for PGD of ALD detected mutant alleles in 5/8 embryos (62.5%), while the remaining 3 embryos (37.5%) did not carry any mutation. One of the 3 embryos was transferred, and a healthy female baby was born after a full-term pregnancy.Conclusion: The developed protocol was helpful for the preimplantation genetic diagnosis process to help families with the monogenic disease of ALD but wish to have healthy children.Keywords: adrenoleukodystrophy, ALD, peroxisome disorder, ABCD1 gene mutation, preimplantation genetic diagnosis, PGD

The hydrothermal alteration zones are the important sign for mineral exploration and can be identified by remote sensing images completely, but this is limited due to the effect of vegetable. We address this problem by a method called “Directed Principal Component Analysis” (DPCA) that involves calculating principal components on two input band ratio images. One ratio is a geological discriminant, confused by the presence of vegetation; the second ratio is chosen for its suitability as a vegetation index. DPCA applied on Landsat 8 image in Pu Sam Cap area, Lai Châu characteristied by argilic alteration, sericite alteration, etc., with the typical minerals like kaolinite, illite, etc., and pyrite, chalcopyrite, magnetite; specularite, etc., The results have identified Fe - rich zones in Bai Bang and Nam Tra areas; clay minerals are concentrated mainly in Nam Tra area and along the main faults. The results are also compared with previous research data and fieldtrip data that shows similarity and feasibility. This paper indicated limitation of Landsat image such as spatial resolution, spectral resolution, etc., when applied in the tropical area.

This study aimed to use charcoal derived from the bamboo and melaleuca produced by traditional kiln applied to sandy soil growing mustard green (Brassica juncea L.). The charcoals were applied at three ratio (1%,2%, and 3%, which correspond to 10, 20, and 30 g charcoal/kg soil in pots) and the control treatment without charcoal. Soil properties were investigated including bulk density, pH, electrical conductivity (EC), cation exchange capacity (CEC), organic matter content, total nitrogen, and total phosphorous. The results showed that bulk density decreased in charcoal-treated soils. pH and EC were in the suitable range for plants.Nutrients and CEC of the soil in the charcoal treatment were significantly higher compared with the control (CEC increase 6.8% to 16%; TC increase 80% to 115%; TN increase 37.5 to 75%). Green mustard growing on charcoalamended soil had greater height (higher 3% to 21%), bigger leaves, and higher yield (increase18% to 81%) than those of plants groomed in the control treatment. This study showed the potential of using charcoal as supplying nutrient to the poor soil. Moreover, the abundant of raw material and easy to produce, it is suitable for applying in the Mekong Delta, Viet Nam, and other countries with similar conditions and infrastructure.

Sludge of seafood processing factories discharged directly into the environment can lead to environmental pollution. Research on the use of seafood processing sludge as compost for agriculture in the Mekong Delta is encouraged. The objectives of this study were (1) to evaluate the chemical composition of seafood processingsludge after 60 days composting and (2) to evaluate the growth of Tagetes patula L planted with composted sludge. The sludge composting experiment was carried out with 3 treatments: sludge + Trichoderma fungi; sludge + chicken manure + Trichoderma fungi; sludge + straw + chicken manure + Trichoderma fungi. The results showed that the treatment of sludge + straw + chicken manure + Trichoderma fungi had a betterquality than the other two treatments. The pH, TC, TN, NH+ 4 , NO- 3 , TP, PO3 4- and heavy metal(Pb, Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Zn and Hg) contents of sludge meet the environmental standard of Viet Nam (10TCN526:2002). E. coli and Salmonella were not present at the end of the composting experiment. Tagetes patula L grew and flowered on all 4 treatments: control – composted straw; sludge + Trichoderma fungi; sludge + chicken manure + Trichoderma fungi; sludge + straw + chicken manure + Trichoderma fungi. However,Tagetes patula L grew best on the sludge + Trichoderma fungi experimental condition .

From the strains of lactic acid bacterium in the Laboratory of Microbiology, Ho Chi Minh City Universityof Education, 03 of those strains with activated probiotic have been chosen: Lactobacillus agillis (B), Lactobacillus salivarius (N4), Lactobacillus acidophilus (L2). These strains of bacteria have high lactic acid production capacity, strong antagonistic activity, and wide antibacterial spectrum. Specially, they have strongresistance to two bacterial strains causing digestive disorder in pigs such as E.coli and Samonella choleraesuis which resist the four important types of antibiosis including Neomycin (Ne), Nalidixid acid (Ng), Kanamycin (Kn) and Gentamycin (Ge). The optimal conditions for their receiving biomass are: Tomato medium with temperature: 30 - 40oC; Initial pH: 5,5 -6,5; Yeast extract: 1,0 - 2,0%; Saccaroza: 1,0 - 2,0%; The optimal time for receiving biomass is from 24 - 36 hours. On this basis, the biomass of three lactic bacterial strains were studied and used to produce probiotic products for preventing and treating the digestive disorder in pigs.

This study is conducted to assess the impact of using E-learning on students’ learning outcomes through combining models of technology acceptance model (TAM) and an information system success model (D&M model) basing on surveyed data from 294 students using E-learning system in Can Tho university. The main method used to evaluate this impact is structural equation model analysis method (SEM). The empirical results showed that perceived learning outcome is statistically influenced by three factors including learning assistance, community building assistance and perceived motivation. Of which, the community building assistance factor was found to play a strong role of students’ perceived learning outcome. Therefore, building solutions to develop of perceived motivation and community building assistance of the system in order to improve E-learning usage in Can Tho university should be paid attention in the coming time.

Repeated bolus injections are associated with higher costs and poor compliance and can hinder the implementation of global immunization campaigns. Here, we report the development and preclinical testing of patches of transdermal core-shell microneedles-which were fabricated by the micromoulding and alignment of vaccine cores and shells made from poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) with varying degradability kinetics-for the preprogrammed burst release of vaccine payloads over a period of a few days to more than a month from a single administration. In rats, microneedles loaded with a clinically available vaccine (Prevnar-13) against the bacterium Streptococcus pneumoniae induced immune responses that were similar to immune responses observed after multiple subcutaneous bolus injections, and led to immune protection against a lethal bacterial dose. Microneedle patches delivering preprogrammed doses may offer an alternative strategy to prophylactic and therapeutic protocols that require multiple injections.

Zooplankton is a secondary consumer in the food chain of aquatic ecosystems. They are closely related to the nutrient content and play a vital role in the nursing of many aquatic species, particularly in the larval stage including black tiger shrimp. Therefore, an expedition study has been conducted to investigate the seasonal changes in the zooplankton community at several ecological black tiger shrimp ponds in Ca Mau mangroves, considering the potential for use as an additional natural food source in shrimp pond. Samples were collected in 8 shrimp ponds in two times of the year (July and November). The results were recorded 24 species belonging to 20 genera, 12 families, 3 phylla and 3 kinds of larval zooplankton. The results were recorded 6 groups of zooplankton in ponds in July, but in November the Rotatoria group did not appear in any ponds. Zooplankton densities varied from 16592 to 53330 individuals / m3. In particular, the Copepoda order occupied more than 50% of the total species and density. There is a negative correlation between individual density and NO2 concentration or salinity. The zooplankton community associated with the ponds can be used as the livefood for suitanable aquaculture. Utilization of these resources is very economical for aquaculture due to the low cost to compare with that of the artifical food. However, the diversity of the zooplankton community in ponds is not high. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the number of species in the water bodies by creating a suitable environment for some groups such as Rotatoria, Cladocera to grow out in these ponds.
