A síndrome de Dumping ocorre geralmente após cirurgia gastrointestinal superior onde a ausência do piloro funcional facilita a passagem de conteúdo direto para o intestino. Essa síndrome consiste em um conjunto de sintomas que podem ser divididos em precoce e tardio. Analisar a síndrome de dumping e sua relação com a cirurgia bariátrica. Trata-se de um estudo de Revisão Bibliográfica. A busca dos trabalhos na literatura foi realizada por meio das bases de dados da Biblioteca Norte Americana em Saúde MEDLINE/PUBMED, através da plataforma do Portal Regional da Biblioteca Virtual da Saúde (PORTAL BVS), Scielo e o portal da Organização Mundial da Saúde. O corte temporal aplicado foi de 15 anos. Após análise dos estudos, constatou-se que existe um aumento significativo na taxa de obesidade a nível mundial e um aumento considerável nas cirurgias bariátricas, a Síndrome de Dumping é uma das afetações mais frequentes relacionadas a esse tipo de cirurgia. Atualmente, estudos tem relacionado a Síndrome de Dumping a cirurgias bariátricas com um maior destaque para a técnica de cirurgia gástrica em Y de Roux, isto porque a alteração causada pela técnica facilita o esvaziamento gástrico de forma acelerada, causando os sintomas de forma precoce e tardia. É importante o conhecimento dos profissionais da saúde sobre o assunto assim como mais estudos direcionados a esse tema.

The choice of the material used to fill screw access channels in implant-supported prostheses depends, in most cases, on operator's preference, without considering the susceptibility of biofilm colonization. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine and compare the total amount of biofilm formed on different materials used to fill screw access channels in implant abutments. For this propose, titanium implant analogs were attached on abutments and divided into 5 groups: positive control (no filling material); negative control (closed with resin); and filled with cotton, gutta-percha, or polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). The analogs with attached abutments were then immersed in a brain heart infusion medium containing Candida albicans (strain 10231 from American Type Culture Collection [ATCC]) and incubated aerobically at 37°C with gentle agitation. After 15 days, materials were removed, and total viable biofilm on each material was quantified by methyl tetrazolium reduction assay at 490 nm. All experiments were performed in triplicate. Data were processed by IBM SPSS Statistic software using 1-way analysis of variance and Bonferroni post hoc tests to analyze differences between groups, with an overall significance level of P < .001. A significant difference was observed between cotton and gutta-percha (P < .017) and between cotton and PTFE (P < .025). However, there was no statistical difference between gutta-percha and PTFE (P > .050). Thus, this in vitro experiment showed that gutta-percha and PTFE presented lower biofilm formation compared with cotton when used to fill screw access channels. These results can provide a basis for future clinical studies that can be a guide to decreasing the occurrence of gaps and bacterial growth inside the implant/abutment attachment site. In addition, controlled in vivo studies are necessary to confirm the clinical viability of findings of this study.

O presente trabalho articula-se com as obras de Freire (1996) e Bernstein (2000) para abordar os conceitos de autonomia, colaboração e autoria compreendendo-os como elementos fundamentais da cibercultura (SANTOS, 2019) para pensar caminhos para uma educação mais flexível e focada não apenas na atuação docente, mas também na participação do aluno. Para tanto, parte-se do debate sobre a formação continuada docente como questão central para o desenvolvimento de um profissional capaz de, criticamente, compreender e atuar frente aos desafios impostos pela cibercultura (SANTOS, 2019) no que se refere à autoria e à colaboração na produção do conhecimento. Em seguida, propõe-se a articular este pensar com a estruturação de processos de ensino menos estruturados na figura central do professor e mais na autonomia do docente (FREIRE, 1990) e na contribuição de todos os envolvidos como elemento de ruptura aos modelos hierárquicos de educação (BERSTEIN, 1990). Para tanto, pretende-se gerar a compreensão de que tais objetivos somente se alcançam ao construirmos a figura do docente como um ser investigativo (NÓVOA, 2017), dotado naturalmente de curiosidade epistemológica (FREIRE, 1990).

Frente a um contexto de muitos desafios na educação pública brasileira, novos métodos para aprimorá-la estão cada vez mais em voga. No contexto do ensino público fundamental e médio, motivar os alunos e oferecer meios que facilitem a compreensão e a aplicação dos conteúdos abordados é desafiador, sobretudo num cenário onde as aulas expositivas são hegemônicas e o investimento é baixo. O trabalho apresentado relata uma experiência de oficina para professores do ensino médio, onde foi discutido e aplicado o uso da tecnologia de manufatura aditiva na produção de modelos tridimensionais para o ensino de ciências. Tal oficina serviu como excelente momento de discussão e reflexão quanto aos desafios e benefícios de aplicar propostas inovadoras no ensino de ciências, e também de como a impressão 3D oferece uma ferramenta notável.

The Amazon forest has the highest biodiversity on earth. However, information on Amazonian vertebrate diversity is still deficient and scattered across the published, peer-reviewed and grey literature and in unpublished raw data. Camera traps are an effective non-invasive method of surveying vertebrates, applicable to different scales of time and space. In this study, we organized and standardized camera trap records from different Amazon regions to compile the most extensive dataset of inventories of mammal, bird and reptile species ever assembled for the area. The complete dataset comprises 154,123 records of 317 species (185 birds, 119 mammals and 13 reptiles) gathered from surveys from the Amazonian portion of eight countries (Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela). Extensive pasture systems established in highly weathered tropical soils on steep slopes are vulnerable to soil degradation. Soil degradation can be monitored using an soil quality index (SQI). The SQI can assess both environmental aspects and indices related to pasture productivity within specific environments. A framework to evaluate and map a soil quality index for Ferralsols was developed in this study, emphasising pasture quality and seasonal variations, as well as geologic–geomorphological influences. Ground cover was determined in pasture areas with different levels of degradation. A minimum data set associated with pasture quality and productivity was selected by partial least squares regression to generate the SQI. The SQI is controlled by geomorphology and geology. In highlands, Ferralsols that develop in the oldest surfaces show strong leaching of basic cations and have higher acidity and, although components of organic matter increase, they are less important to pasture quality. In lowlands, landscape dissection exposes less weathered saprolite, forming Ferralsols with good chemical properties. This favours sustainability in pasture systems and reduces soil degradation in vulnerable environments. Soil quality indices were able to better evaluate pasture quality when established in summer. Introduction To analyze COVID-19 mortality in cancer patients and associated factors such as age, sex, type of insurance, situation at COVID-19 diagnosis, and cancer histology during the pandemic at a cancer center in Brazil. Methods Cross-sectional study carried out from April 02, 2020 to August 31, 2020 at A.C. Camargo Cancer Center (ACCCC), in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Cases were extracted from the Hospital Cancer Registry. COVID-19 lethality rates by histology were calculated; multiple logistic regression was used to identify factors associated with COVID-19 mortality. The log-rank test was applied to compare the survival curves for each variable. Results Of the 411 patients analyzed, 51 (12.4%) died due to COVID-19. Death occurred at an average age of 63 years. The fatality rate was higher for lung (0.333) and hematological (0.213) cancers and was associated with age over 60 years. The greatest chances of death from COVID-19 were in cases of lung (odds ratio, OR, 4.05, 95% confidence interval, CI 1.33–12.34) and hematological (OR 2.17, 95% CI 0.96–4.90) cancers, and in patients currently undergoing cancer treatment (OR 2.77, 95% CI 1.25–6.13). There were no statistical differences in survival by sex, age group, type of insurance, situation at the diagnosis of COVID-19, and histology of cancer for COVID-19. Conclusions Mortality due to COVID-19 in cancer patients is heterogeneous. These findings reinforce the need for individualized strategies for the management of different types of cancer that reduce the risk of death from COVID-19.

Dissertação de Mestrado Integrado em Medicina Veterinária, área científica de Clínica A rotura tendínea danifica o sistema de força/tensão, que permite a flexão e extensão de um membro, impedindo que a força do músculo atue no movimento do osso, originando andamentos ou posturas anormais. Pode dever-se a um fenómeno abrupto ou crónico-degenerativo, sendo que para o segundo ainda não existe na comunidade científica uma etiologia bem definida. A rotura pode dar-se de forma parcial ou total, para a primeira opta-se, inicialmente, por um tratamento conservativo, no caso de ser total o tratamento mais recomendado é cirúrgico. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo descrever a utilização de um implante de malha de titânio poroso produzido em Electron-beam melting tratado posteriormente com tecnologia Coldblast ® como uma nova técnica cirúrgica de tendinoplastia. A amostra é constituída por três cães submetidos ao novo método cirúrgico. Cada caso clínico apresentava uma diferente história pregressa: uma rotura com 2 meses, uma rotura submetida a várias intervenções cirúrgicas e uma rotura de urgência. Verificou-se que a utilização do implante permitiu a formação de novos pontos de ancoragem entre a malha e o tendão. Além de substituir o tecido em falta, gera um novo sistema de distribuição de forças, sem necessidade de uma segunda cirurgia para remover o implante. Concluiu-se que a utilização de titânio puro ultrapassa todos os problemas apresentados pelos materiais biológicos e de tecnologia de tecidos. Apesar de um dos implantes ter fraturado, a técnica demonstrou resultados muito promissores de cicatrização originando um retorno à postura e andamentos normais. No entanto, de modo a aprofundar o conhecimento sobre esta técnica mais estudos histológicos e biomecânicos serão necessários. ABSTRACT - TENDINOPLASTY : TITANIUM IMPLANTS - The tendon allows the flexion and extension of a limb. When a rupture occurs, it affects the force/tension system. Without this system, the muscle isn’t able to participate in the bones’ movement, causing abnormal gait and postures. These ruptures can have an abrupt or chronic-degenerative origin. The etiology of the second scenario is not well defined by the scientific community. The rupture can be partial or complete. If partial one should opt, initially, for a conservative treatment whereas in complete rupture, the most recommended treatment is a surgical one. The present work aims to describe the use of a porous titanium mesh implant produced in Electron-beam melting treated with Coldblast ® technology as a new surgical technique of tendinoplasty. The sample consists of three dogs submitted to the new surgical method. Each clinical case had a different previous history: a rupture with 2 months, a rupture submitted to several surgical interventions and an emergency rupture. It was found that the use of the implant allowed the formation of new anchorage points between the mesh and the tendon. In addition, the mesh could replace the missing tissue, and generate a new force distribution system, without the need for a second surgery to remove the implant. In conclusion, the use of pure titanium overcomes all the problems presented by biological materials and tissue technology. Although one of the implants fractured, the technique showed very promising healing results with return to a normal posture and gait. However, to deepen the knowledge about this technique, more histological and biomechanical studies will be needed. N/A

Tendo como pano de fundo os edifícios escolares intervencionados ao abrigo do Programa de Modernização das Escolas do Ensino Secundário da Parque Escolar E.P.E., e com base na participação no projeto de investigação ESCOLAS: Complexidade e Interpretação, a presente dissertação enfoca os impactos socioespaciais no espaço escolar sob a ótica da apropriação pelos alunos. Mais precisamente, pretende-se aprofundar os significados e usos desenvolvidos no contexto espacial, interpretando o processo de relacionamento entre os alunos e os espaços da escola, bem como as interferências que os transformaram à luz das necessidades deste grupo de utilizadores. Enquanto espaços de socialização, os edifícios escolares materializam o lugar onde o processo de ensino-aprendizagem dos alunos é protagonizado por características espaciais, cuja interrelação ultrapassa a dimensão arquitetónica. Deste modo, esta investigação propõe aprofundar a componente humana da arquitetura escolar, recorrendo ao conhecimento de áreas complementares da Arquitetura, como a Antropologia, Sociologia e Psicologia Ambiental, de forma a otimizar a leitura e compreensão dos diversos significados e usos dos espaços que compõem o ambiente físico das escolas. Este estudo alicerça-se não só no trabalho realizado pelo grupo de investigação, mas também na observação e recolha de informação junto dos alunos que, ao serem convidados a partilharem um pouco da sua experiência pessoal através de um inquérito, proporcionaram um entendimento mais consciente sobre as diferentes interações entre estes e o seu ambiente escolar. Assim, o trabalho aqui exposto pretende estudar as formas de apropriação do espaço pelos alunos no edifício escolar, com o intuito de compreender as vivências, rotinas e modos de habitar a escola nas suas correlações e interseções com a arquitetura. Having as a backdrop the school buildings modernization program led by Parque Escolar E.P.E., and based on the participation in the research project ESCOLAS: Complexidade e Interpretação, this dissertation focuses on the socio-spatial impacts on the school environment through the perspective of the student's appropriation. More precisely, it intends to deepen the meanings and uses developed in the spatial context, by interpreting not only the relations between students and school spaces, but also the interferences that transformed them in the light of this user group. As spaces of socialization, school buildings materialize the place where spatial characteristics play a key role in the students teaching-learning process, whose interrelation transcends the architectural dimension. Thus, this research aims to deepen the human component of school architecture, using the knowledge of complementary areas of Architecture, such as Anthropology, Sociology and Environmental Psychology in order to optimize the comprehension of both the meanings and uses in the school environment. This study is rooted in the work that has been done by the research group, as well as in the observation and collection of information given by students, who shared some of their personal experience through a survey. This inquiry provided a deeper insight of the different interactions between them and their school environment. In this way, the present dissertation seeks to study the students' forms of appropriating school spaces, with the goal of understanding the experiences, routines and ways of inhabiting the school.

Objective: to evaluate the playful profile and play of hospitalized children, before and during hospitalization.Material and Methods: This is a qualitative research, carried out in a pediatric ward of the Santa Casa de Misericórdia do Pará Foundation (FSCMPA), with 13 companions of children over 12 months of age, whose instrument used was Takata’s Playful History.Results: It was identified that there were changes in the profile and play behavior of the children participating in the study, mainly in playful experiences during hospitalization. The companions reported changes in the form, resources, interactions and time of engagement in this activity, before and during hospitalization. In addition, the presence of the itinerant toy library was considered the main moment of playful experiences during hospitalization. However, the operation of the toy library was only twice a week, triggering the lack of play opportunities on the other days of the week, which implies in the non-stimulation of the occupation to play, so important in childhood.Conclusion: It is important to emphasize the importance of playing as a basic occupation for development and during hospitalization and to assist this public in a holistic way. The need for structured spaces for this purpose in hospitals is highlighted. Objetivo: avaliar o perfil lúdico e o brincar de crianças hospitalizadas, antes e durante a internação.Materiais e Método: Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, realizada em enfermaria pediátrica da Fundação Santa Casa de Misericórdia do Pará (FSCMP), com 13 acompanhantes de crianças, em idade superior a 12 meses, cujo instrumento utilizado foi o Histórico Lúdico de Takata.Resultados: Identificou-se que houve alterações no perfil e comportamento do brincar das crianças participantes do estudo, principalmente nas experiencias lúdicas durante a internação. Os acompanhantes relataram mudanças quanto à forma, recursos, interações e tempo de engajamento nessa atividade, antes e durante a hospitalização. Além disso, a presença da brinquedoteca itinerante foi considerada o principal momento de experiências lúdicas no período de hospitalização. Entretanto, o funcionamento da mesma era somente duas vezes por semana, desencadeando na carência de oportunidades de brincadeira nos demais dias da semana, o que implica na não estimulação da ocupação brincar, tal importante na infância.Conclusão: Destaca-se a relevância de se oportunizar o brincar como ocupação basilar ao desenvolvimento e hospitalização infantil, assistir esse público de forma holística e ressalta-se a necessidade de espaços estruturados para essa finalidade nos hospitais.

RESUMO: Objetivo: Estimar o grau de concordância e validade dos diagnósticos de neoplasias malignas relacionadas à exposição ao asbesto registrados no Sistema de Informação Hospitalar do Sistema Único de Saúde (SIH/SUS), em comparação aos Registros Hospitalares de Câncer do Estado de São Paulo (RHC/SP). Métodos: Óbitos com registros de neoplasias malignas associadas ao asbesto foram identificados e extraídos do SIH/SUS entre 2007 e 2014. Óbitos nos casos de câncer registrados na base do RHC/SP foram extraídos para o mesmo período. Essas bases foram unidas pelos mesmos indivíduos empregando-se o software Link Plus. Um único diagnóstico codificado pela CID-O3 ou CID-10 selecionado de cada sistema foi analisado. A proporção de concordância e a sensibilidade, especificidade e valores preditivos foram estimados. Resultados: Encontraram-se 19.458 pares com registros nas duas bases. A proporção de concordância foi elevada, variando de 92,4% para a localização primária desconhecida a 99,7% para o câncer de pleura. O índice Kappa variou de 0,05 (IC95% 0,04 - 0,07) para o câncer de pleura a 0,85 (IC95% 0,84 - 0,87) para o câncer de pulmão. A menor sensibilidade foi de 0,08 (IC95% 0,01 - 0,25), para o câncer de pleura, e a maior de 0,90 (IC95% 0,90 - 0,91), para o câncer de pulmão. Conclusão: Diagnósticos de neoplasias malignas associadas ao asbesto alcançaram maiores níveis de concordância e validade quando comuns. Os diagnósticos mais raros apresentaram baixa acurácia no SIH/SUS. ABSTRACT: Objective: To estimate the degree of agreement and validity of diagnoses of asbestos-related malignant neoplasms registered in the Hospital Information System of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SIH/SUS), in comparison to the Hospital Cancer Registries of the State of São Paulo (HCR/SP). Methods: Deaths with records of malignant neoplasms associated with asbestos were identified and extracted from SIH/SUS between 2007 and 2014. Deaths in cases registered in the HCR/SP were extracted for the same period. The databases were linked using software Link Plus. A single ICD-10-coded diagnosis selected from each system was analyzed. The proportion of agreement, and the sensitivity, specificity and predictive values were estimated. Results: 19,458 pairs were found with records in both bases. The proportion of agreement was high, ranging from 92.4% for the unknown primary site, to 99.7% for cancer of the pleura. The Kappa Index ranged from 0.05 (95%CI 0.04 - 0.07) for cancer of the pleura to 0.85 (95%CI 0.84 - 0.87) for lung cancer. Sensitivity varied from 0.08 (95%CI 0.01 - 0.25) for cancer of the pleura, to 0.90 (95%CI 0.90 - 0.91) for lung cancer. Conclusion: Diagnosis of asbestos-related malignancies reached higher levels of agreement and validity when common. Rare diagnoses showed low accuracy in SIH/SUS.

Keeping a certain balance of body fat is essential for a healthy life, and proper nutrition is fundamental. One of the most worrying malnutrition problems is obesity, which plays a significant risk factor for chronic diseases like cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and cancer. The Dual-energy X-ray absorp-tiometry (DXA) is the most accurate and automatic method that returns the body fat percentage; however, this method is expensive and not easily found at clinics. A lower-cost way of estimating the body fat percentage is through anthropometric measures. However, the literature has shown that estimating body fat percentage on women is challenging. In this work, we propose an approach specialized in gender to estimate body fat percentage using machine learning. Another contribution of this work is a dataset, BodyFat-163 (BF-163), containing the 12 anthropometric measures and the body fat percentage from DXA exams collected by a specialist. The dataset consists of 163 individuals (84 males and 79 females). Our experiments involved a variety of methods of regression, which includes Random Forest Regression, Extreme Gradient Boosting, Decision Tree, Support Vector Regression, Multilayer Perceptron Regression, and Least Square Support Vector Regression. The experiment results were evaluated with the metrics Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Root Mean Square Error, Mean Squared Logarithmic Error, and R2 score. Our gender-based approach successfully estimates the body fat percentage achieving a MAE = 2.756, and R2 = 0.68 on the male set and MAE = 3.869, and R2 = 0.69 on the female set.

This study aims to present the experience of a public university in the North of Portugal at the time of adapting to the scenario and the urgencies of the pandemic caused by the spread of the Covid-19 virus. Together with the articulation with relevant and recent theoretical references on the topic, the text brings experiences that are capable of reflection and learning for present and future moments. From the report presented here, a new perspective on the teaching performance that reverberates through the issue of continuing education for teaching is perceived. It should be noted that, when opting for the implementation of remote emergency teaching (HODGES ET AL, 2020), gaps were highlighted regarding the use and framing of resources from digital technologies along with educational processes. O presente estudo se propõe a apresentar a experiência de uma universidade pública do Norte de Portugal no momento da adequação ao cenário e às urgências da pandemia provocada pela disseminação do vírus Covid-19. Conjuntamente com a articulação com referenciais teóricos relevantes e recentes sobre o tema, o texto traz vivências passíveis de reflexão e de aprendizado para momentos presentes e futuros. A partir do relato aqui apresentado, percebe-se um novo olhar sobre a atuação docente que reverbera pela questão da formação continuada para a docência. Note-se que, ao optar pela implantação do ensino remoto de emergência (HODGES ET AL, 2020), lacunas foram evidenciadas no que se refere ao uso e ao enquadramento dos recursos advindos das tecnologias digitais junto aos processos educativos. O futebol é uma modalidade esportiva acíclica caracterizada por esforços intermitentes com curtos intervalos de recuperação entre as ações, intercalando esforços de alta e baixa intensidade embora o metabolismo aeróbio forneça a maior proporção de energia para as atividades durante os jogos. Para monitorar as melhoras no desempenho, o teste Yo-Yo de recuperação intermitente nível 2 (Yo-Yo IR2) tem sido amplamente utilizado no futebol. O desempenho neste teste apresenta alta correlação com as respostas de aptidão física, durante partidas de futebol, assim, discrimina diferentes níveis competitivos. As adaptações fisiológicas também têm sido monitoradas por meio das respostas do sistema nervoso autônomo, analisadas a partir da modulação autonômica cardíaca, que pode fornecer informações úteis quanto a alterações no estado de treinamento. Desta forma, poderíamos sugerir que a VFC também poderia estar associada a melhoras no Yo-Yo IR2. Por outro lado, fisiologicamente falando, o futebol exige dos jogadores um sprint de esforço total a cada 90 segundos e esforços de alta intensidade a cada 30 segundos, embora diferenças substanciais devam ser esperadas de acordo com o estilo, habilidade do jogador e função em campo (posição). Como "atleta" é um rótulo bastante inespecífico em termos de aptidão física real (aptidão aeróbica, flexibilidade, força / potência muscular, equilíbrio e composição corporal), abrangendo esportistas com perfis físicos e fisiológicos notavelmente diferentes, existe uma controvérsia significativa em relação à modulação autonômica cardíaca em jogadores de futebol e suas respectivas atuações em campo de acordo as diferentes posições táticas do futebol. Portanto, o objetivo desta presente dissertação foi de avaliar e associar a modulação autonômica cardíaca de repouso e desempenho físico com o posicionamento tático em jogadores de futebol amador. Soccer is an acyclic sport characterized by intermittent efforts with short recovery intervals between actions, alternating between high and low intensity efforts although aerobic metabolism provides the highest proportion of energy for activities during games. To monitor performance improvements, the Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Level 2 (Yo-Yo IR2) test has been widely used in soccer. The performance in this test presents a high correlation with the physical fitness responses during soccer matches, thus, it discriminates different competitive levels. Physiological adaptations have also been monitored through autonomic nervous system responses, analyzed from cardiac autonomic modulation, which can provide useful information regarding changes in the training state. Thus, we could suggest that HRV could also be associated with improvements in Yo-Yo IR2. On the other hand, physiologically speaking, football requires players to perform a sprint of all-out effort every 90 seconds and high-intensity efforts every 30 seconds, although substantial differences are to be expected based on style, player skill and role on the field (position). As the word "athlete" is a rather non-specific label in terms of actual physical fitness (aerobic fitness, flexibility, muscle strength/power, balance and body composition), encompassing sportsmen with remarkably different physical and physiological profiles, there is significant controversy regarding cardiac autonomic dysfunction modulation in soccer players and their respective performances on the field according to different tactical soccer positions. Therefore, the objective of this present dissertation was to evaluate and associate cardiac autonomic modulation at rest and physical performance with tactical positioning in amateur soccer players.

Este artigo presta uma homenagem ao professor chileno, Fernando Plaza Mallea, idealizador da licenciatura em Letras: Espanhol da Universidade Federal de Goiás, por ocasião dos 20 anos de colação de grau da primeira turmaa graduar-se nessa modalidade. O referido docente ministrou as disciplinas de latim e espanhol tanto no antigo ICHL (Instituto de Ciências Humanas e Letras) quanto na atual Faculdade de Letras da Universidade Federal de Goiás. O Prof. Plaza vislumbrou a possibilidade de uma licenciatura em Espanhol em Goiás a partir da criação do Mercosul, Mercado Comum do Sul, em 1991 (acordo de livre comércio e união aduaneira) entre Brasil, Argentina, Paraguai e Uruguai e também pelo fato de o Brasil estar rodeado de países de língua espanhola no continente sul-americano. Em 1996, quando o nosso mestre se aposentou, já tinha visto seu sonho, mesmo que parcialmente, transformar-se em realidade. A graduação em Letras: Espanhol habilitou, de 1998 a 2018, 268 profissionais docentes, segundo informação da Coordenadoria de Expedição e Registro de Diplomas da UFG. Esses egressos tiveram acesso a processos seletivos e concursos públicos, podendo exercer sua profissão em instituições de ensino infantil, básico, técnico, tecnológico e em faculdades. Em 2004, o Prof. Plaza faleceu e não pôde acompanhar o retorno à própria UFG de muitos ex-alunos que passaram a atuar como professores efetivos no curso de licenciatura em Espanhol no qual se formaram.

In this work, we propose a novel approach to detect cardiac arrhythmias in electrocardiograms (ECG). The proposal focuses on different feature extractors and machine learning methods. The feature extraction techniques evaluated were Fourier, Goertzel, Higher Order Statistics (HOS), and Structural Co-Occurrence Matrix (SCM). As far as the authors know, this is the first time that SCM has been applied to the feature extraction task with ECG signals. Four well-known classifiers, commonly referred to in the literature (Support Vector Machine, Multi-Layer Perceptron, Bayesian, and Optimum-Path Forest) were tested and we compared our results with six classical feature extraction methods. Furthermore, the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation protocol was adopted and we made use of the MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database for producing reliable results for clinical analysis. The confidence level to identify heart dysrhythmia in our results was 2% greater than other approaches in the literature. The proposed system is 1.3% more accurate than the best approach reported to date, and is 1 0 6 times faster. blackIn short, it is clinical reliable to use HOS for describing types of arrhythmia, since achieved 94.3% of accuracy.

Wind energy is an interesting source of alternative energy to complement the Brazilian energy matrix. However, one of the great challenges lies in managing this resource, due to its uncertainty behavior. This study addresses the estimation of the electric power generation of a wind turbine, so that this energy can be used efficiently and sustainable. Real wind and power data generated in set of wind turbines installed in a wind farm in Ceara State, Brazil, were used to obtain the power curve from a wind turbine using logistic regression, integrated with Nonlinear Autoregressive neural networks to forecast wind speeds. In our system the average error in power generation estimate is of 29 W for 5 days ahead forecast. We decreased the error in the manufacturer’s power curve in 63%, with a logics regression approach, providing a 2.7 times more accurate estimate. The results have a large potential impact for the wind farm managers since it could drive not only the operation and maintenance but management level of energy sells.
