Using a generalisation of the classical notion of Dirichlet-to-Neumann map and the related formulae for the resolvents of boundary-value problems, we analyse the asymptotic behaviour of solutions to a "transmission problem" for a high-contrast inclusion in a continuous medium, for which we prove the operator-norm resolvent convergence to a limit problem of "electrostatic" type for functions that are constant on the inclusion. In particular, our results imply the convergence of the spectra of high-contrast problems to the spectrum of the limit operator, with order-sharp convergence estimates., Comment: 15 pages, 1 figure. There exists a great deal of concrete evidence in favor of the exotic four-quark nature of light scalars. At the same time, the further expansion of the area of the $q^2\bar q^2$ model validity for light scalars on ever new processes seems extremely interesting and important. We analyze the BESIII data on the decay $J/\psi\to \gamma\pi^0\pi^0$ and show that the results of this high-statistics experiment can be interpreted in favor of the four-quark nature of light scalar mesons $f_0(980)$ and $f_0(500)$., Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures, v2: improved discussion, references corrected, matched the pudlished version in Phys. Decays $D\to\pi^+\pi^-e^+\nu_e$ and $D_s\to\pi^+ \pi^-e^+\nu_e$ serve as probes that check the existence of constituent $q\bar q$ components in the wave functions of scalar mesons decaying into $\pi^+\pi^-$. There exists a great deal of concrete evidence in favor of the exotic four-quark nature of light scalars. The graph complex acts on the spaces of Poisson bi-vectors $P$ by infinitesimal symmetries. We prove that whenever a Poisson structure is homogeneous, i.e. $P = L_{\vec{V}}(P)$ w.r.t. the Lie derivative along some vector field $\vec{V}$, but not quadratic (the coefficients of $P$ are not degree-two homogeneous polynomials), and whenever its velocity bi-vector $\dot{P}=Q(P)$, also homogeneous w.r.t. $\vec{V}$ by $L_{\vec{V}}(Q)=n\cdot Q$ whenever $Q(P)= Or(\gamma)(P^{\otimes^n})$ is obtained using the orientation morphism $Or$ from a graph cocycle $\gamma$ on $n$ vertices and $2n-2$ edges in each term, then the $1$-vector $\vec{X}=Or(\gamma)(\vec{V}\otimes P^{\otimes^{n-1}})$ is a Poisson cocycle. Its construction is uniform for all Poisson bi-vectors $P$ satisfying the above assumptions, on all finite-dimensional affine manifolds $M$. Still, if the bi-vector $Q\not\equiv 0$ is exact in the respective Poisson cohomology, so there exists a vector field $\vec{Y}$ such that $Q(P)=[\![\vec{Y},P]\!]$, then the universal cocycle $\vec{X}$ does not belong to the coset of $\vec{Y}$ mod $\ker[\![P,\cdot]\!]$. We illustrate the construction using two examples of cubic-coefficient Poisson brackets associated with the $R$-matrices for the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{gl}(2)$. Poisson brackets admit infinitesimal symmetries which are encoded using oriented graphs; this construction is due to Kontsevich (1996). We formulate several open problems about combinatorial and topological properties of the graphs involved, about integrability and analytic properties of such symmetry flows (in particular, for known classes of Poisson brackets), and about cohomological, differential geometric, and quantum aspects of the theory. The orientation morphism $Or(\cdot)(P)\colon \gamma\mapsto\dot{P}$ associates differential-polynomial flows $\dot{P}=Q(P)$ on spaces of bi-vectors $P$ on finite-dimensional affine manifolds $N^d$ with (sums of) finite unoriented graphs $\gamma$ with ordered sets of edges and without multiple edges and one-cycles. It is known that $d$-cocycles $\boldsymbol{\gamma}\in\ker d$ with respect to the vertex-expanding differential $d=[{\bullet}\!\!{-}\!{-}\!\!{\bullet},\cdot]$ are mapped by $Or$ to Poisson cocycles $Q(P)\in\ker\,[\![ P,{\cdot}]\!]$, that is, to infinitesimal symmetries of Poisson bi-vectors $P$. Consider the real vector space of formal sums of non-empty, finite unoriented graphs without multiple edges and loops. Let the vertices of graphs be unlabelled but let every graph $\gamma$ be endowed with an ordered set of edges $\mathsf{E}(\gamma)$. Denote by Gra the vector space of formal sums of graphs modulo the relation $(\gamma_1,\mathsf{E}(\gamma_1))-\text{sign}(\sigma) (\gamma_2,\mathsf{E}(\gamma_2)) = 0$ for topologically equal graphs $\gamma_1$ and $\gamma_2$ whose edge orderings differ by a permutation $\sigma$. The zero class in Gra is represented by sums of graphs that cancel via the above relation. The Lie bracket of graphs with ordered edge sets is defined using the insertion of a graph into vertices of the other one. The decays $D^0\to d\bar u\,e^+\nu\to a^-_0(980)\, e^+\nu\to\pi^-\eta\, e^+\nu$ and $D^+\to d\bar d\,e^+\nu\to a^0_0(980)\, e^+\nu\to\pi^0\eta\, e^+\nu$ (and the charge conjugated ones) is the direct probe of the two-quark components in the $a^\pm_0(980)$ and $a^0_0(980)$ wave functions. Recent BESIII experiment is the first step in experimental study of these decays. Motivated by the urgent need to attribute a rigorous mathematical meaning to the term "metamaterial", we propose a novel approach to the homogenisation of critical-contrast composites. This is based on the asymptotic analysis of the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map on the interface between different components ("stiff" and "soft") of the medium, which leads to an asymptotic approximation of eigenmodes. This allows us to see that the presence of the soft component makes the stiff one behave as a class of time-dispersive media. By an inversion of this argument, we also offer a recipe for the construction of such media with prescribed dispersive properties from periodic composites., Comment: 24 pages, 6 fugures

This work deals with the functional model for a class of extensions of symmetric operators and its applications to the theory of wave scattering. In terms of Boris Pavlov's spectral form of this model, we find explicit formulae for the action of the unitary group of exponentials corresponding to almost solvable extensions of a given closed symmetric operator with equal deficiency indices. Kontsevich designed a scheme to generate infinitesimal symmetries $\dot{\mathcal{P}} = \mathcal{Q}(\mathcal{P})$ of Poisson brackets $\mathcal{P}$ on all affine manifolds $M^r$; every such deformation is encoded by oriented graphs on $n+2$ vertices and $2n$ edges. In particular, these symmetries can be obtained by orienting sums of non-oriented graphs $\gamma$ on $n$ vertices and $2n-2$ edges. The bi-vector flow $\dot{\mathcal{P}} = \text{Or}(\gamma)(\mathcal{P})$ preserves the space of Poisson structures if $\gamma$ is a cocycle with respect to the vertex-expanding differential in the graph complex. A class of such cocycles $\boldsymbol{\gamma}_{2\ell+1}$ is known to exist: marked by $\ell \in \mathbb{N}$, each of them contains a $(2\ell+1)$-gon wheel with a nonzero coefficient. At $\ell=1$ the tetrahedron $\boldsymbol{\gamma}_3$ itself is a cocycle; at $\ell=2$ the Kontsevich--Willwacher pentagon-wheel cocycle $\boldsymbol{\gamma}_5$ consists of two graphs. It is shown that the recent data on the $K^0_S K^+$ correlation in Pb-Pb interactions agree with the data on the $\gamma\gamma\to\eta\pi^0$ and $\phi\to\eta\pi^0\gamma$ reactions and support the four-quark model of the $a_0(980)$ meson. It is shown that the data does not contradict the validity of the Gaussian assumption. Let $P$ be a Poisson structure on a finite-dimensional affine real manifold. Can $P$ be deformed in such a way that it stays Poisson? The language of Kontsevich graphs provides a universal approach -- with respect to all affine Poisson manifolds -- to finding a class of solutions to this deformation problem. For that reasoning, several types of graphs are needed. In this paper we outline the algorithms to generate those graphs. The graphs that encode deformations are classified by the number of internal vertices $k$; for $k \leqslant 4$ we present all solutions of the deformation problem. The finite size of doubly heavy diquark gives a positive correction to the masses of baryons calculated in the local diquark approximation.
