The article considers the method of finding the minimum of a multimodal function using a genetic algorithm with the excess code 0/1 / -1 in gene mutations.

Background. The direction of development of modern electronic communication systems tends to increase the speed of information transmission. In turn, increasing the speed requires the use of additional resources of the communication channel and tools to maintain the specified reliability of the transmission under limited conditions. But resources are not free. That is why there is a need to establish a relationship between the conditions for reliable transmission in high-speed channels and the spectral and energy parameters of the information transmission system. Objective. The purpose of the paper is to analyse and describe the effect of block noise-tolerant coding on the rate of transmission of symbols in the communication channel while ensuring the required reliability of information transmission at a constant speed of the message source by increasing the frequency involved. Methods. The initial stage of the study is the presentation of system parameters in case of inaccurate transmission. Then a block redundant code is synthesized, which ensures the reliability of information transmission and the procedure of spreading the spectrum at a fixed speed of the message source is performed. Results. Recommendations on the method of selecting coding parameters in the procedure of spreading the spectrum and provided that the speed of the message source is constant are formed. Conclusions. Analysis of the possibilities of noise-tolerant coding at different energies of the communication channel under conditions of increasing the channel transmission rate at a fixed speed of the message source. Στην παρούσα διδακτορική διατριβή παρουσιάζεται ένας μεταγλωττιστής της γλώσσας MATLAB ο οποίος παράγει κώδικα C αξιοποιώντας εντολές ειδικού σκοπού του εκάστοτε επεξεργαστή στόχου όπως εντολές επεξεργασίας πολλαπλών δεδομένων (SIMD) και βαθμωτές (scalar) εντολές μαθηματικών συναρτήσεων/λειτουργιών που υποστηρίζονται από το υλικό. Ο μεταγλωττιστής παράγει ANSI C κώδικα και οι εντολές ειδικού σκοπού αναπαρίστανται από εσωτερικές (intrinsic) συναρτήσεις επιτρέποντας τη συμβατότητα του μεταγλωττιστή σε οποιοδήποτε επεξεργαστή (και το μεταγλωττιστή του).Αρχικά, παρουσιάζεται ένα παραμετρικό μοντέλο επεξεργαστή, το οποίο χρησιμοποιείται για την περιγραφή των εντολών ειδικού σκοπού. Το μοντέλο αυτό επιτρέπει την περιγραφή εξειδικευμένων εντολών, λειτουργίες εισαγωγής δεδομένων σε διανύσματα (packing) για παράλληλη επεξεργασία και εσωτερικές δομές δεδομένων όπως οι τύποι δεδομένων των διανυσμάτων ενός επεξεργαστή. Το μοντέλο επεξεργαστή χρησιμοποιείται από έναν αλγόριθμο επιλογής εντολών (instruction selection) με σκοπό να αντιστοιχήσει τον πηγαίο κώδικα εισόδου με τις διαθέσιμες μονάδες του υλικού της αρχιτεκτονικής-στόχου. Το μοντέλο του επεξεργαστή χρησιμοποιείται επίσης από το στάδιο της εξαγωγής τύπων δεδομένων (type inference) ώστε να εξάγεται ο τύπος του αποτελέσματος των συναρτήσεων που αναπαριστόνται από εντολές ειδικού σκοπού. Το παραμετρικό μοντέλο επεξεργαστή διαμορφώνει ένα πλαίσιο μεταγλώττισης υποστηρίζοντας διαφορετικούς επεξεργαστές-στόχους κάτι που έχει ως αποτέλεσμα την παραγωγή βελτιστοποιημένου κώδικα για οποιαδήποτε αρχιτεκτονική.Στην συνέχεια, περιγράφεται η υποδομή του μεταγλωττιστή με έμφαση στα τμήματα υποστήριξης της παράλληλης επεξεργασίας δεδομένων και παραγωγής διανυσματικού Cκώδικα. Αρχικά, παρουσιάζεται ο αλγόριθμος επιλογής εντολών ο οποίος αντιστοιχίζει τις εντολές και συναρτήσεις MATLAB με τις εντολές ειδικού σκοπού της αρχιτεκτονικής-στόχου. Ο αλγόριθμος επιλέγει την κατάλληλη από τις εντολές που περιλαμβάνονται στο μοντέλο του επεξεργαστή. Στη συνέχεια, λειτουργίες εισαγωγής και εξαγωγής δεδομένων σε μεταβλητές διανύσματα εισάγονται στην ενδιάμεση αναπαράσταση για να επιτρέψουν την παραγωγή κώδικα παράλληλης επεξεργασίας. Η διαδικασία αφορά την εισαγωγή των συγκεκριμένων λειτουργιών ώστε να μετατρέπονται τα δεδομένα σε κατάλληλη μορφή για παράλληλη επεξεργασία. Στη συνέχεια, ένας αλγόριθμος αρίθμησης των τοπικών μεταβλητών (local value numbering) εκτελείται με σκοπό την αφαίρεση από την ενδιάμεση αναπαράσταση των περιττών λειτουργιών εισαγωγής/εξαγωγής δεδομένων σε διανύσματα οι οποίες εισάγονται από το προηγούμενο στάδιο μεταγλώττισης. Τέλος, περιγράφεται το στάδιο παραγωγής κώδικα, εστιάζοντας στην παραγωγή κώδικα για παράλληλη επεξεργασίας δεδομένων και την παραγωγή κώδικα για τύπους δεδομένων σταθερής υποδιαστολής. Η παραγωγή διανυσματικού κώδικα περιλαμβάνει την παραγωγή βρόχων οι οποίοι αναπαριστούν τα τμήματα του κώδικα που περιλαμβάνουν διανυσματικές εντολές ειδικού σκοπού, την παραγωγή λειτουργιών εισαγωγής/εξαγωγής δεδομένων σε διανύσματα καθώς επίσης και τις εντολές παράλληλης επεξεργασίας. Η παραγωγή κώδικα για τύπους δεδομένων σταθερής υποδιαστολής αφορά την παραγωγή επιπλέον C κώδικα για τη διαχείριση της αριθμητικής δεδομένων σταθερής υποδιαστολής (π.χ. λειτουργίες ολίσθησης). Ο μεταγλωττιστής υποστηρίζει την παράλληλη επεξεργασία δεδομένων και επιτρέπει την παραγωγή διανυσματικού κώδικα αξιοποιώντας τις εντολές ειδικού σκοπού του εκάστοτε επεξεργαστή-στόχου. Ο παραγόμενος κώδικας επιτυγχάνει αξιοσημείωτη βελτίωση ως προς το χρόνο εκτέλεσης έναντι άλλων τεχνικών οι οποίες δεν παράγουν διανυσματικό κώδικα και/ή δεν αξιοποιούν εντολές ειδικού σκοπού ενός επεξεργαστή.Στην παρούσα διδακτορική διατριβή παρουσιάζεται επίσης η αξιολόγηση του μεταγλωττιστή σε διαφορετικές αρχιτεκτονικές. Για την αξιολόγηση του μεταγλωττιστή χρησιμοποιήθηκαν δύο επεξεργαστές ειδικών εφαρμογών (ASIP) εκ των οποίων ο ένας περιλαμβάνει εντολές επεξεργασίας πολλαπλών δεδομένων, και τέσσερις επεξεργαστές αρχιτεκτονικών ARM και x86. Για την αξιολόγηση του μεταγλωττιστή, χρησιµοποιήθηκαν οκτώ εφαρμογές ψηφιακής επεξεργασίας σήματος χρησιμοποιώντας διαφορετικά πλάτη παραλληλίας, τύπους δεδομένων κινητής και σταθερής υποδιαστολής καθώς επίσης και τύπους/μορφές δεδομένων για παράλληλη επεξεργασία. Η απόδοση ως προς το χρόνο εκτέλεσης του παραγόμενου κώδικα συγκρίθηκε με την απόδοση του κώδικα που παράγεται από τον MathWorks Coder. Ο προτεινόμενος μεταγλωττιστής επιτυγχάνει σημαντική βελτίωση της απόδοσης (ταχύτητας) σε όλες τις εξεταζόμενες αρχιτεκτονικές και ειδικά όταν χρησιμοποιούνται εντολές επεξεργασίας πολλαπλών δεδομένων. Επιπλεόν πραγματοποιήθηκαν δοκιμές για την αξιολόγηση της αυτόματης διανυσματοποίησης κώδικα (auto-vectorization) από δημοφιλείς μεταγλωττιστές της γλώσσας C όπως οι Clang/LLVM, GCC και MSVC. Οι δοκιμές πραγματοποιήθηκαν στους κώδικες οι οποίοι παράγονται από τον MathWorks Coder και τον προτεινόμενο μεταγλωττιστή. Τα πειραματικά αποτελέσματα έδειξαν ότι οι C μεταγλωττιστές διανυσματοποιουν ένα μικρό ποσοστό των βρόχων που μπορούν πραγματικά να διανυσματοποιηθούν οδηγώντας στο συμπέρασμα ότι οι μονάδες των επεξεργαστών που υποστηρίζουν την παράλλήλη επεξεργασία δεδομένων δεν μπορούν να αξιοποιηθούν πλήρως από αυτούς. Αντίθετα ο προτεινόμενος μεταγλωττιστής υποστηρίζει μια ευρύτερη κατηγορία περιπτώσεων.

In this thesis, we develop a Generic Profiler which is a solution to profiling for mobile computation cloud offloading. Profiling refers to the process of examining and collecting statistics and information about data. The Generic Profiler uses reflection in many cases to reduce redundant code and allow developers to easily incorporate new profilers to their offloading solutions. Third party developers can include the Generic Profiler into their solutions with ease and without having to worry about the underlying processes of storing data using a Content Provider. The Generic Profiler also contains a set of default profilers, which include a Location Profiler, Software Profiler, Wi-Fi Profiler, Telephony Profiler, and a Battery Profiler. Using the Software Profiler, we have shown that the performance, in terms of inclusive invocation time, of the profilers which are designed by implementing the Generic Profiler adequately store data.

Open-source software (OSS) is widely reused as it provides convenience and efficiency in software development. Despite evident benefits, unmanaged OSS components can introduce threats, such as vulnerability propagation and license violation. Unfortunately, however, identifying reused OSS components is a challenge as the reused OSS is predominantly modified and nested. In this paper, we propose CENTRIS, a precise and scalable approach for identifying modified OSS reuse. By segmenting an OSS code base and detecting the reuse of a unique part of the OSS only, CENTRIS is capable of precisely identifying modified OSS reuse in the presence of nested OSS components. For scalability, CENTRIS eliminates redundant code comparisons and accelerates the search using hash functions. When we applied CENTRIS on 10,241 widely-employed GitHub projects, comprising 229,326 versions and 80 billion lines of code, we observed that modified OSS reuse is a norm in software development, occurring 20 times more frequently than exact reuse. Nonetheless, CENTRIS identified reused OSS components with 91% precision and 94% recall in less than a minute per application on average, whereas a recent clone detection technique, which does not take into account modified and nested OSS reuse, hardly reached 10% precision and 40% recall., To appear in the 43rd International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE 2021)

How is information distributed across large neuronal populations within a given brain area? Information may be distributed roughly evenly across neuronal populations, so that total information scales linearly with the number of recorded neurons. Alternatively, the neural code might be highly redundant, meaning that total information saturates. Here we investigate how sensory information about the direction of a moving visual stimulus is distributed across hundreds of simultaneously recorded neurons in mouse primary visual cortex. We show that information scales sublinearly due to correlated noise in these populations. We compartmentalized noise correlations into information-limiting and nonlimiting components, then extrapolate to predict how information grows with even larger neural populations. We predict that tens of thousands of neurons encode 95% of the information about visual stimulus direction, much less than the number of neurons in primary visual cortex. These findings suggest that the brain uses a widely distributed, but nonetheless redundant code that supports recovering most sensory information from smaller subpopulations., Information regarding a sensory stimulus is distributed in activity of neuronal populations. Here the authors show stimulus information scales sub-linearly with the number of neurons in mouse visual cortex due to correlated noise and may saturate in far fewer numbers of neurons than the total in V1.

Software reuse may result in software bloat when significant portions of application dependencies are effectively unused. Several tools exist to remove unused (byte)code from an application or its dependencies, thus producing smaller artifacts and, potentially, reducing the overall attack surface. In this paper we evaluate the ability of three debloating tools to distinguish which dependency classes are necessary for an application to function correctly from those that could be safely removed. To do so, we conduct a case study on a real-world commercial Java application. Our study shows that the tools we used were able to correctly identify a considerable amount of redundant code, which could be removed without altering the results of the existing application tests. One of the redundant classes turned out to be (formerly) vulnerable, confirming that this technique has the potential to be applied for hardening purposes. However, by manually reviewing the results of our experiments, we observed that none of the tools can handle a widely used default mechanism for dynamic class loading.

Many websites import large JavaScript (JS) libraries to speed up development time and enhance user experience. However, many JS libraries that only partially utilized during page loading are all packaged into bundles. Redundant JS code inflates the page weight, which inflates the time it takes to download, parse, and compile JS resources. Therefore, it is very important to optimize the payload of JS resources to improve Web performance. This paper proposes a scheme combining static structure analysis technique and dynamic tracking technique to identify unused code during application execution and optimize the size of application bundle. Through the dependency relationship between the third-party libraries, this paper designed an analysis structure, which extract various types of function information to improve the redundant functions detection efficiency. After that, in the construction of the application bundle, this paper eliminated the redundant JS code. Our experiments show that the scheme is simple and effective, and reduces the amount of code in the bundle by 32.64% on average, and improves the accuracy by 23% on average compared with the coverage API redundancy detection tool. On the basis of ensuring the robustness of the code, the loading performance of the application is optimized.

Software development organizations face issue like Technical Debt in their software projects. Technical Debt (TD) is incurred when a person involved in engineering of software, intentionally or unintentionally makes wrong or non-optimal design decisions. This problem occurs due to non-systematic and undefined approach to manage the high level of uncertainty in requirements. These non-optimal design decisions and the nonsystematic approach can result in introduction of code smells. Code smells are actually technical debt (also known as perceived debt), which may cause a project to fade out with time. Code of a software project with technical debt is considered as unclean code. Refactoring is an activity of modifying the code to remove technical debt from a software project and make the project code clean. Goal of this work is to study the impact of removing TD on the effort required to add features and remove bugs from software. To this end, this work uses a stepwise approach; first code smells (considered as TD) are identified, and in the next step the smells are removed and impact of removing the code smells (on removing bug and adding new feature) is observed in terms of effort required during maintenance. Technical debt in five open source software applications has been calculated and impact of removing the code smells has been observed on one of the applications named NopCommerce (an ecommerce-based system). Effort to add a new feature and remove a bug, before and after refactoring, has been calculated in terms of man-hours. The effort required to add new feature and remove a bug from the clean code has been 7% less as compared to the effort required to do the same in unclean code. Whether to perform refactoring or not is a decision made by software developers. The impact of refactoring in reducing effort required to maintain code will help a developer make a decision regarding refactoring.

Masking schemes are a popular countermeasure against side-channel attacks. To mask bytes, the two classical options are Boolean masking and polynomial masking. The latter lends itself to redundant masking, where leakage emanates from more shares than are strictly necessary to reconstruct, raising the obvious question how well such “redundant” leakage can be exploited by a side-channel adversary. We revisit the recent work by Chabanne et al. (CHES’18) and show that, contrary to their conclusions, said leakage can—in theory—always be exploited. For the Hamming weight scenario in the low-noise regime, we heuristically determine how security degrades in terms of the number of redundant shares for first and second order secure polynomial masking schemes.Furthermore, we leverage a well-established link between linear secret sharing schemes and coding theory to determine when different masking schemes will end up with essentially equivalent leakage profiles. Surprisingly, we conclude that for typical field sizes and security orders, Boolean masking is a special case of polynomial masking. We also identify quasi-Boolean masking schemes as a special class of redundant polynomial masking and point out that the popular “Frobenius-stable” sets of interpolations points typically lead to such quasi-Boolean masking schemes, with subsequent degraded leakage performance.

Program synthesis, the task of automatically finding programs from the underlying programming language that satisfy user intent expressed in some form of constraints, has been regarded as one of the most central problems and hottest research fields in the theory of programming. On the other hand, the development of neural networks and deep learning in many fields has led researchers to consider the possibility of applying them to solve the program synthesis problems. In this paper, we took the probabilistic program synthesis realized by the neural network as the research subject and noticed that most of the current work borrows from the structure of encoding and decoding in natural language processing. We analyzed its two possible disadvantages, one is the performance degradation of the long-sequence structure, the other is that synthesized results without validation are too redundant. We took a probabilistic encoder-decoder neural model named BAYOU as an example to analyze the specific problem. We proposed a framework named PASS which contains several methods to solve those problems and improve the model performance. For the former problem, we showed how to adapt neural networks to increase the attention mechanism to address the problem of information forgetting and long sequences unmanageable. Then, we combined the program slicing in the field of program analysis to slice the generated program, thereby eliminated redundant code of result from methods without validation and had a more refined result. The experiment showed that the accuracy of neural program synthesis guided from our approach improved by a mean of 17%, up to a maximum of 22%. Besides, the slicing work of our approach succeeded in a mean about code refinement rate of 25.3% for those methods without result validation.

Function merging is an important optimization for reducing code size. This technique eliminates redundant code across functions by merging them into a single function. While initially limited to identical or trivially similar functions, the most recent approach can identify all merging opportunities in arbitrary pairs of functions. However, this approach has a serious limitation which prevents it from reaching its full potential. Because it cannot handle phi-nodes, the state-of-the-art applies register demotion to eliminate them before applying its core algorithm. While a superficially minor workaround, this has a three-fold negative effect: by artificially lengthening the instruction sequences to be aligned, it hinders the identification of mergeable instruction; it prevents a vast number of functions from being profitably merged; it increases compilation overheads, both in terms of compile-time and memory usage.We present SalSSA, a novel approach that fully supports the SSA form, removing any need for register demotion. By doing so, we notably increase the number of profitably merged functions. We implement SalSSA in LLVM and apply it to the SPEC 2006 and 2017 suites. Experimental results show that our approach delivers on average, 7.9% to 9.7% reduction on the final size of the compiled code. This translates to around 2×more code size reduction over the state-of-the-art. Moreover, as a result of aligning shorter sequences of instructions and reducing the number of wasteful merge operations, our new approach incurs an average compile-time overhead of only 5%, 3× less than the state-of-the-art, while also reducing memory usage by over 2×.

The CLEARSY Safety Platform (CSSP) is aimed at easing the development and the deployment of safety critical applications, up to the safety integrity level 4 (SIL4). It relies on the smart integration of the B formal method, redundant code generation and compilation, and a hardware platform that ensures a safe execution of the software. This paper exposes the programming model of the CSSP used to develop control & command applications based on digital I/Os.

The goal of finding unreachable code is to report warnings about possible bugs in the source code and an increase of other analyses accuracy. The paper describes unreachable code classification and approaches for finding unreachable code in C/C++ programs. We described three data-flow analysis problems: value interval analysis, excluded value analysis, predicate analysis. Solutions for these problems are used to detect redundant expressions in conditional statements. We described common occurrences of useless warnings. The algorithms are implemented in the Svace tool that is developed by ISP RAS. The results are evaluated for open source projects Android-5.02 and Tizen-2.3. They represent the number of found warnings and its intersection.

Code comment is one of the most effective ways to help programmers to understand the source code. High-quality comment decisions can not only cover the core code snippets in the software system but also avoid generating redundant code comments. However, in actual development, there is no uniform comment specification, and most of the comment decisions depend on personal experience and domain knowledge. This paper has learned a common comment decision specification from a large number of code comment examples to assist programmers in making appropriate comment decisions during code development. This paper proposes a method to extract the code structure from the context code of the current code line, and use the machine learning algorithm to determine the possibility that the current code needs to add comments. The proposed method was evaluated on 8 well-known open-source Python projects in GitHub and the experimental results show the feasibility and effectiveness of the method in some code types.

The presence of same code more than one time degrades the quality of the software that outperforms software maintainability which is too difficult to manage. In this research paper, authors designed a new methodology which is termed as “A Hybrid Technique for software code clone detection by using Token Based and Line Based Approach” (HTSCCDUToLiA) whose main purpose is to detect different types of clones viz. Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3 clones etc. This newly designed methodology working is based on two different types of software cloning approaches viz. Line based Approach and Token Based Approach. The major objective of this research paper is to remove redundant code or free space which is covered by the comment lines especially.The main significance to detect clones is to improve software code reusability and decrease same lines of source code. The major benefit to propose this new designed methodology is automatic detection of software code clone within minimum duration of time.In addition, the other benefit to design this new hybrid technique is to save software developer time, space as well as effort. By utilizing this new designed methodology the amount of code clones under a specific project or specific application can be easily reduced or removed up to some extent that will ultimately increase the performance of the software. In this way, this new designed methodology in future will helpful for producing more consistent or more efficient results.

Off-The-Shelf (OTS) software components are the cornerstone of modern systems, including safety-critical ones. However, the dependability of OTS components is uncertain due to the lack of source code, design artifacts and test cases, since only their binary code is supplied. Fault injection in components’ binary code is a solution to understand the risks posed by buggy OTS components. In this paper, we consider the problem of the accurate mutation of binary code for fault injection purposes. Fault injection emulates bugs in high-level programming constructs (assignments, expressions, function calls, ...) by mutating their translation in binary code. However, the semantic gap between the source code and its binary translation often leads to inaccurate mutations. We propose Faultprog , a systematic approach for testing the accuracy of binary mutation tools. Faultprog automatically generates synthetic programs using a stochastic grammar, and mutates both their binary code with the tool under test, and their source code as reference for comparisons. Moreover, we present a case study on a commercial binary mutation tool, where Faultprog was adopted to identify code patterns and compiler optimizations that affect its mutation accuracy.

Developers spend much of their time reading and browsing source code, raising new opportunities for summarization methods. Indeed, modern code editors provide code folding, which allows one to selectively hide blocks of code. However this is impractical to use as folding decisions must be made manually or based on simple rules. We introduce the autofolding problem, which is to automatically create a code summary by folding less informative code regions. We present a novel solution by formulating the problem as a sequence of AST folding decisions, leveraging a scoped topic model for code tokens. On an annotated set of popular open source projects, we show that our summarizer outperforms simpler baselines, yielding a 28% error reduction. Furthermore, we find through a case study that our summarizer is strongly preferred by experienced developers. Copying and pasting of source code is a common activity in software engineering. Often, the code is not copied as it is and it may be modified for various purposes; e.g. refactoring, bug fixing, or even software plagiarism. These code modifications could affect the performance of code similarity analysers including code clone and plagiarism detectors to some certain degree. We are interested in two types of code modification in this study: pervasive modifications, i.e. transformations that may have a global effect, and local modifications, i.e. code changes that are contained in a single method or code block. We evaluate 30 code similarity detection techniques and tools using five experimental scenarios for Java source code. These are (1) pervasively modified code, created with tools for source code and bytecode obfuscation, and boiler-plate code, (2) source code normalisation through compilation and decompilation using different decompilers, (3) reuse of optimal configurations over different data sets, (4) tool evaluation using ranked-based measures, and (5) local + global code modifications. Our experimental results show that in the presence of pervasive modifications, some of the general textual similarity measures can offer similar performance to specialised code similarity tools, whilst in the presence of boiler-plate code, highly specialised source code similarity detection techniques and tools outperform textual similarity measures. Our study strongly validates the use of compilation/decompilation as a normalisation technique. Its use reduced false classifications to zero for three of the tools. Moreover, we demonstrate that optimal configurations are very sensitive to a specific data set. After directly applying optimal configurations derived from one data set to another, the tools perform poorly on the new data set. The code similarity analysers are thoroughly evaluated not only based on several well-known pair-based and query-based error measures but also on each specific type of pervasive code modification. This broad, thorough study is the largest in existence and potentially an invaluable guide for future users of similarity detection in source code.

In this paper, we consider the problem of source code abridgment, where the goal is to remove statements from a source code in order to display the source code in a small space, while at the same time leaving the ``important'' parts of the source code intact, so that an engineer can read the code and quickly understand purpose of the code. To this end, we develop an algorithm that looks at a number of examples, human-created source code abridgments, and learns how to remove lines from the code in order to mimic the human abridger. The learning algorithm takes into account syntactic features of the code, as well as semantic features such as control flow and data dependencies. Through a comprehensive user study, we show that the abridgments that our system produces can decrease the time that a user must look at code in order to understand its functionality, as well as increase the accuracy of the assessment, while displaying the code in a greatly reduced area.

Along the years, the complexity of processors has increased and with it the demand grows for generating optimized code for them. Therefore, changes in the program, keeping the semantics of the original code and presenting a better performance, known as optimizations are required. The use of non-conventional architectures may be an option for increased performance, as the IPNoSys processor. This processor presents a computer model driven packages which is reflected in its programming model. The objective of this paper is develop the code optimization step in IPNoSys compiler, considering features not explored it, as the parallelism, and even improving your generated code. The optimization modulo offers three levels of optimization. In order to obtain the results a comparison of execution time and memory required of codes generated in the three levels of optimization was performed. The great level optimization reduced at least triple the execution time comparing to no optimized code. Also it was possible reduced the size code by the half in other optimization level.

When a mobile application is supported on multiple major platforms, its market penetration is maximized. Such cross-platform native applications essentially deliver the same core functionality, albeit within the conventions of each supported platform. Maintaining and evolving a cross-platform native application is tedious and error-prone, as each modification requires replicating the changes for each of the application׳s platform-specific variants. Syntax-directed source-to-source translation proves inadequate to alleviate the problem, as native API access is always domain-specific. In this paper, we present a novel approach—Native-2-Native—that uses program transformations performed on one platform to automatically synthesize equivalent code blocks to be used on another platform. When a programmer modifies the source version of an application, the changes are captured. Based on the changes, Native-2-Native identifies the semantic content of the source code block and formulates an appropriate query to search for the equivalent target code block using popular web-based programming resources. The discovered target code block is then presented to the programmer as an automatically synthesized target language source file for further fine-tuning and subsequent integration into the mobile application׳s target version. We evaluate the proposed method using common native resources, such as sensors, network access, and canonical data structures. We show that our approach can correctly synthesize more than 74% of iOS code from the provided Android source code and 91% of Android code from the provided iOS source code. The presented approach effectively automates the process of extracting the source code block׳s semantics and discovering existing target examples with the equivalent functionality, thus alleviating some of the most laborious and intellectually tiresome programming tasks in modern mobile development.

The problem of similar code sequences search in executable binary files is explored in this paper. Within the scope of the previously proposed original search method outlined in this paper the impact on its efficiency of several ways of the program’s code initial description is investigated. The results of experimental researches of search efficiency for each of them are presented. The efficiency of the proposed method is also compared to known methods of similar code sequences search.

Even though there are various source code plagiarism detection approaches, only a few works which are focused on low-level representation for deducting similarity. Most of them are only focused on lexical token sequence extracted from source code. In our point of view, low-level representation is more beneficial than lexical token since its form is more compact than the source code itself. It only considers semantic-preserving instructions and ignores many source code delimiter tokens. This paper proposes a source code plagiarism detection which rely on low-level representation. For a case study, we focus our work on .NET programming languages with Common Intermediate Language as its low-level representation. In addition, we also incorporate Adaptive Local Alignment for detecting similarity. According to Lim et al, this algorithm outperforms code similarity state-of-the-art algorithm (i.e. Greedy String Tiling) in term of effectiveness. According to our evaluation which involves various plagiarism attacks, our approach is more effective and efficient when compared with standard lexical-token approach.&nbsp

For organizing offline and online diagnostics systems, redundant coding is widely used. Codes are focused on error detection in the codeword bits. At present, the automation devices function in binary logic and consequently binary redundant codes are used in the development of technical diagnostic tools. Nevertheless, several specialists note the ternary number system and automation devices advantage that implement its principles. This work is devoted to the simplest ternary codes - ternary parity codes. Some ternary parity codes properties are described, and the need for a more detailed account of the error type in the ternary redundant code's data vectors is noted. It is proved that the described ternary parity code, built based on using a single convolution function modulo three, has the data vectors uniform distribution property between check single-trit vectors. In addition, was introduced the concept of code with the least total number of undetectable errors in the ternary code data vectors for the lengths fixed values of data and check vectors. It is proved that such a code has an data vectors uniform distribution between all possible check vectors. Formulas for calculating the total number of undetectable errors in such codes are given.

Deep supervised hashing has become an active topic in information retrieval. It generates hashing bits by the output neurons of a deep hashing network. During binary discretization, there often exists much redundancy between hashing bits that degenerates retrieval performance in terms of both storage and accuracy. This paper proposes a simple yet effective Neurons Merging Layer (NMLayer) for deep supervised hashing. A graph is constructed to represent the redundancy relationship between hashing bits that is used to guide the learning of a hashing network. Specifically, it is dynamically learned by a novel mechanism defined in our active and frozen phases. According to the learned relationship, the NMLayer merges the redundant neurons together to balance the importance of each output neuron. Moreover, multiple NMLayers are progressively trained for a deep hashing network to learn a more compact hashing code from a long redundant code. Extensive experiments on four datasets demonstrate that our proposed method outperforms state-of-the-art hashing methods.

Fork-based development is popular and easy to use, but makes it difficult to maintain an overview of the whole community when the number of forks increases. This may lead to redundant development where multiple developers are solving the same problem in parallel without being aware of each other. Redundant development wastes effort for both maintainers and developers. In this paper, we designed an approach to identify redundant code changes in forks as early as possible by extracting clues indicating similarities between code changes, and building a machine learning model to predict redundancies. We evaluated the effectiveness from both the maintainer’s and the developer’s perspectives. The result shows that we achieve 57–83% precision for detecting duplicate code changes from maintainer’s perspective, and we could save developers’ effort of 1.9–3.0 commits on average. Also, we show that our approach significantly outperforms existing state-of-art.

The results of a Speed-Independent Fused Multiply-Add (SIFMA) unit pipeline implementation research are presented. SIFMA is compliant with IEEE 754 Standard. A criterion of the SIFMA pipeline's maximum performance is formulated. A method of reducing hardware costs of SIFMA multiplier by 1.5-2 times depending on its features is offered. The multiplier utilizes a modified Booth algorithm using self-timed redundant code. A new energy efficient self-timed organization of an input and output FIFO was developed. It provides less complexity versus a previous SIFMA implementation on base of semi-dense register.

Unit tests and production code are intrinsically connected. A class that is easy to test usually presents desirable characteristics, such as low coupling and high cohesion. Thus, finding hard-to-test classes may help developers identify problematic code. Many different test feedbacks that warn developers about problematic code were already catalogued. In this paper, we argue that analyzing assert instructions in unit tests also aid in identifying and reasoning about potentially problematic pieces of code. We report an analysis conducted with both open source and industry projects relating assert instructions in a unit test with quality measures of the code being tested. We observed that when a production method has a unit test that uses the "assert" instruction in more than one object instance, it often exhibits higher cyclomatic complexity, number of lines of code, or higher number of method invocations. It means that developers should monitor the number of asserts in a unit test as it may indicate problems in the production code.

2D barcode becomes a famous technology in information security issue in this decade. We propose a security mechanism improvement method by applying the error correction with random segmentation (ECRS) technique. In this paper, we use private key array for segmentation of the original texts be-fore merging the segmented texts whose were encoded by using error correction coding approach. Our proposed method has two advantages when com-pare with the traditional Reed-Solomon error correction coding algorithm. On one hand, our ECRS performs random segmentation using multiple redundant code to protect data. On the other hand, the ECRS protects the code from being falsified by using encryption keys. Our experiments manifest that the proposed method improves the security degree of significance while just only few sacrificing coding times.
