Objective: Multidicplinary tumor board(MTBs) are an an important component of cancer patient care. The participation of patients or caregivers in MTBs is an contentious issue and is uncommon in Turkey. This study aimed to determine what Turkish medical oncologists think about the participation of patients and caregivers in MTBs. Method: The study was conducted during 8th Turkish Congress Of Medical Oncology in Antalya İn November 2021. The medical oncologists that participated completed a 9-item questionnaire. The relationships between the participants' sociodemographic characteristics and their questionnaire responses concerning MTBs were analyzed using Pearson's chi-square test or the Fisher-Freeman-Halton test. Results: 75 % of the participants do not approve participation of patient or caregivers in MTBs. 12 % of participants approve the participation of both in the MTBs. 3 % of participants approve only the participation of caregivers whereas only the 6 % of medical oncologist approve only the participation of patients in tumor board. While 69% of the male participants thought that physicians should first talk among themselves and make decisions related to patient care, and then report and discuss their decisions with the patient and/or their caregivers, 55.6% of the female participants thought that physicians should first talk among themselves, but not make any definitive decisions until consulting with the patient and/or their caregivers. This difference between the male and female participants was significant (P = 0.011). Conclusion: Among 109 Turkish medical oncologists, most didn't approve of the participation of patients or caregivers in MTBs. The 2 major reasons for this lack of approval are fear that patients and caregivers will not understand medical terminology, and the emotional stress their participation can cause MTB members. Basic words have an important place in the vocabulary of languages. Basic words and therefore organ names are among the frequently used word categories in the Turkish word formation system. Studies on organ names constitute an important material about the language studied. In this study, the definition of organ names has been made by emphasizing the importance of basic words in the mother tongue, and the studies on these names in Turkey Turkish have been examined. Theses, books, book chapters, and articles and papers are listed. In the conclusion part, a brief evaluation of the studies is given and it is aimed that the bibliography will be a source for those who work on organ names and those who will do it. In the study, it was seen that organ names were included in separate sections in vocabulary studies, especially in studies on medical terms. While scanning, organ names studies, which constitute an important data for medical science and other sciences as well as Turcology, were limited to the field of social sciences. Explanations were made about master's and doctoral theses, books and book chapters, articles and papers were listed alphabetically according to the names of the authors. Scorpions are arthropods covered with a thick layer of chitin, whose adult individuals have a length between 11.5 and 220 mm. Since they cause situations of poisoning and due to their predatory nature, humans usually fear them. In scorpion envenomation, it is necessary to apply anti-venom especially for patients with severe symptoms. Turkey is a suitable country for scorpion life in terms of climate. Today, it is reported in the world that there are 2512 species of scorpions in terms of 21 families and 195 genera. In addition, when the recent increase is taken into account, it is reported that the number of Scorpion species in Turkey has reached 50 and will continue to increase. Although the most venomous scorpion species known in Turkey is Leirus abdullahbayrami, scorpion anti-venom is obtained from Androctonus crassicauda. The studies show that the antivenom from A. crassicauda in Turkey which had been produced in a continuous manner since 1942 gave better results than other anti-venoms. A. crassicauda, which is shown as one of the five most poisonous scorpions in the world, is about 90 to 100 mm in length, has dark brown or black color, and has claws which are very chunky and a very curved tail. It is one of the most important species regarding medical terms in Turkey. A. crassicauda is mainly found in the regions of Southeastern Anatolia and in the areas of the cities of Iğdır and Kars which have low altitude levels, located in Eastern Anatolia in Turkey. It is stated that the responsible scorpion is the A. crassicauda with respect to the majority of patients who are admitted to the hospital with complaints of scorpion stings especially in the Southeastern Anatolia Region. Scorpion sting events, occurring mostly during the summer period still continues to be a major problem both in Turkey and the world's other countries. The scorpion anti-venom produced from A. crassicauda has taken its place as a national monograph of the Turkish Pharmacopoeia, which was prepared for the first time after many years. This review aims to provide detailed information on the history of anti-venom preparations in Turkey, starting from the foundation of the Turkish Republic up until the present day. Originally derived from the Medieval Latin word, fīliātiō (from fīlius, son), filiation literally means paternity, descent-fromfather, or line of descent. Concerning medicine, however, it refers to the connection of things resulting from one another, or contact tracing. The core idea behind filiation as a measure of precaution against outbreaks is to prevent the disease by interrupting the chain of transmission with a systematical tracing and isolation of susceptible individuals having contact with any confirmed cases. Filiation became a widely used medical term in the first quarter of the 19th century, primarily in French medical literature, soon adapted to English and some other languages. In the Ottoman Empire, it appeared in medical journals in the 1850s, used primarily by some European physicians practicing in the country. As part of various measures that have been taken to tackle the current pandemic of COVID-19, the method of filiation was also recalled by the medical community. Soon after the observance of the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Turkey on March 11, 2020, the index case and its contacts were identified and the Turkish Ministry of Health launched the procedures of filiation at a national level with ad-hoc medical teams established around the country. Objective: Communication issues within clinical encounters are increasing within Turkey. To raise awareness of the problem and identify solutions, it was decided to undertake the current research. Methods: Separate questionnaires, one for doctors, the other for patients, were prepared and distributed between May and July 2018 to 100 doctors plus 100 adult patients at either Adana Numune Hospital or Eskisehir Osmangazi University Hospital. Results: Patients' views: 60% responded that doctors give insufficient information in terms of quality and quantity. 80% stated that the doctor failed to convey a clear message. 40% described doctors as lacking enthusiasm in explaining the issue and curtailing the conversation. 40% felt that the inadequate length of the consultation contributed to a sense that the patient was undervalued by the doctor. 40% felt consultation times needed to be lengthened. 20% stated that the doctors listened inadequately. 30% felt that communication would be improved by better use of Turkish equivalents for latinate medical terms. 10% felt that the key element in communication was for doctors first to value patients. Doctors' views: 100% felt they had the ability to explain, but that time constraints and patients' inability to understand key elementshindercommunication. 95% felttheissuerestedwith patients andtheir inabilityto comprehend. 60% consideredthe patientsinsufficientlyeducatedorlackingadequateintellectual resources tounderstand. 90% proposedlengthening consultation times to improve communication. Conclusion: Blaming either party is not the solution. Short consultation times are the root cause of miscommunication and need to increase if communication is to improve. Improvements in patients' education may in the future lead to more fruitful clinical encounters. In this article, language of medical texts written in Old Anatolian Turkish in 14th and 15th centuries is studied through a different aspect. Although they are used even in modern medical texts, "Descriptive Medical Terms" are present in almost all of the medical texts belonging to the Old Anatolian Turkish era, and these terms have hardly been investigated yet. Their presence was mentioned only in some of the works related to medical texts; however, they were not regarded as in the medical terminology. The aim of this work is to discuss what medical terms are through examining the terminological types and different styles of medical texts, how and why they were used in Old Anatolian Turkish texts, and contribution of these terms to the Turkishization of medical terms through the relation between physician-text-society and through semiotics. The article presents a study that clarifies the uses of the medical terms Çignemek and Çeynemek that were written in Old Anatolian Turkish in the 14th-15th centuries in Turkey. It explores the translation and interpretation of the two terms, and how their different meanings have been interchangeably used in medical settings. It also mention show the misinterpretation of the terms' meaning have resulted to the mis-conceptualization of their interpretation.

During the old Anatolian Turkish period, a large number of medical works had been written in Turkish language. The anatomical and physiological names in these works had been generated in line of word formation rules which had contributed to the development of Turkish Medical language. 16 crucial medical works that had been written in the above mentioned period were investigated on the basis of phonetic, semantic and lexical properties. The results of our investigation revealed the fact that this productive period had had a considerable influence on the Turkish medical language in other time periods. In this period, most of the simple single word medical terms that had been formed and transferd in folk language remained permanent. However, the terms generated by the author or transcriber (copying press) had been used as temporarily and had faded away in the course of timecomposed of temporary terms and were not used today any more. Turkey has been witnessing purification activities in the field of medical terminology for a long period of time. However, the purified terms have not replaced the original ones possibly because of the lack of interest on the part of those who are engaged with purism. This is why Turkish cannot be used by the Turkish people as a language of science. Since there is a strong relationship between language and thought, an individual can think and act creatively through his/her mother tongue. Therefore, the present study concentrates on the concept of language, the close link between language and thought, the concept of native language, and the concept of terminology. In so doing, this study aims to argue for the significance of using mother tongue as the language of science.
