Good educators are vital as referents in the education process for novice nurse teachers and nursing students. Objective: To explore transcendental aspects for the educational performance of the good trainers in nursing, from their own perspectives and in spheres related to their personal and professional history. Methods: Qualitative research, case study methodology. To identify the best nursing educators, students and teachers of two University Nursing Schools were consulted in Barcelona. Professor's diary, interviews and participant observations were used. Criteria of scientific rigor were applied. Informed consent and an identification system were used, ensuring confidentiality and anonymity. Results: The influence of models as parents and clinical teachers, the value of the teacher-student relationship, the pedagogical intuition and the relevance of the clinical practice scenario were described as transcendental for their performance. Discussion and Conclusions: Several aspects of personal life and professional history were influential to the performance of good nursing educators, with a potent coherence between the professional act and the educative action, corroborating the importance of the practical knowledge built based on personal experiences without requiring a necessary participation in formal pedagogical training programs. Introduction: Training and acquisition of critical-reflective thinking in nursing students is essential to form reflective practitioners, where interventions and actions are the result of constant questioning and critical thinking, to acquire the principle of learning to learn. One of the methods that have emerged to encourage any form of reflective critical thinking in students is the portfolio. Objective: To know the perceptions of students about the development of critical-reflective thinking through the portfolio of practices. Material and Methods: A qualitative descriptive study. Data collection was conducted through questionnaires portfolios and nursing students of 4th year of the School of Nursing Red Cross, who conducted practices during course 2013-2014. The results were analyzed using content analysis. Results: Students consider that critical thinking generated when performing portfolio, helps them mainly for reflective thinking in action and also to integrate knowledge. Conclusions: Students perceive that the critical-reflective thinking is an essential tool in the process of overcoming contradictions that are present in the teaching and learning processes during their clinical practice. The purpose of this study was to know the perception of nurses about safety in the preparation and administration of medications in a primary care health department of the Spanish national health system. Cross-sectional descriptive study. Carried out in the Health Department 21 (Alicante, Spain) in the months of September to November 2021. 66 nurses, with a predominance of women (88.9%). A semi-structured interview with ten questions was used. The inclusion criterion took into account nurses with more than two years of experience working in the health center. The perception of nurses about the degree of safety in the preparation and administration of medications was evaluated. 81.9% of the sample did not report adverse events. The steps for secure administration were varied. A significant association was observed in the correct time of medication (p < 0.031) and antisepsis (p < 0.026) according to the number of nurses in the basic health areas. Our results indicate the perceptions of nurses about improvements in the degree of implementation of standards or tools for the safe administration of medications, with special attention to lack of knowledge, care overload (high patient/nurse ratio) and associated dilemmas with the notification., (Copyright © 2022 The Authors. Objective: To discover the opinions of the tutors and students of the Degree in Nursing on clinical practices and identify strategies and improvement proposals for teacher performance., Method: A qualitative study with a phenomenological perspective through focus groups with clinical nurse tutors and nursing students. The participants were divided into 3 groups: students, tutors from the medical area and tutors from the surgical area. The number of groups was determined by saturation of the information. The discourse was transcribed and a syntactic and semantic manual analysis of the discourse was made to extract the analysis variables. Permission was obtained from the Provincial Research Ethics Committee and the corresponding centre., Results: Both the tutors and the students emphasized the need to train tutors in teaching skills and provide them with tools that facilitate their work, as well as the need for formal recognition of their teaching function. In their discourse, both groups proposed a change of vision, and above all of attitudes, in the development of teaching-learning. Finally, there is a need for a change in the model of relations between the University and health services., Conclusions: Based on the above, the need to encourage and train clinical professionals as tutors is identified and a change of model proposed to bring the University and the health system closer together., (Copyright © 2018 Elsevier España, S.L.U. Objective: The design of new Bachelor degree courses, together with the agreement reached between the Regional Government of Andalusia and Andalusian universities shape the new clinical training model for Health Science students. The aim of this project is to present a qualitative evaluation of the implementation of the new model in Nursing and Physiotherapy degrees at the University of Almeria and the Andalusian Public Health System., Method: An exploratory qualitative study using document content analysis techniques, by analyzing 12 reports from teachers and those responsible for Practicum in Nursing and Physiotherapy degrees at the University of Almeria. The reports included opinions and proposals from university and clinical placement teachers, healthcare professionals or clinical placement tutors, students, and those in positions of responsibility as regards clinical placements., Results: Three categories emerged in the data analysis: Health system organization, with sub-categories of disparity between shifts, difficulties with supervisor coordination, feelings of a lack of control, disparities in evaluation criteria and geographic distribution; academic organization, with sub-categories of short rotations, a lack of information received by the clinical placement tutor, and carrying out placements without studying the theory; and management of the work agreement, with sub-categories of being discouraged by what is received in return, extra work for those in charge, and delays in evaluations., Conclusion: The study suggests a need to support and guide clinical tutors, to increase coordination between the university and health services, to organize the students' theoretical and practical training and to provide the management of the model with flexibility and transparency., (Copyright © 2013 Elsevier España, S.L.
