The study of usages and functions of flags remains underdeveloped, and particularly in the Iberoamerican sphere. This monograph establishes empirical and theoretical foundations to give impulse to this area of research and to move forward in the analysis of the reasons why the presence of flags in the public sphere fluctuates — very abruptly on occasion. Beyond the relation this may have with the contested concept of nationalism, the fluctuating public prominence of flags constitutes an intriguing phenomenon that raises substantive questions about social dynamics, political communication, and individual and collective behaviours in diverse cultural spheres. What are the conditions for establishing solidarity aft er a period of intensive and divisive social confl ict — what Kant called a cosmopolitan constitution? In this essay, I argue that such a widened solidarity depends on establishing a relatively independent civil sphere, the eff ective functioning of whose institutions depend, in turn, on a shared sacred discourse of civility. To speak such a shared language, however, requires much more than engaging in speech acts. It depends upon a deeply emotional and highly symbolic process, one in which public performances of reconciliation create new structures of feeling and identifi cation. This article approaches the role of translation in Iberian literary modernity not as a question of importation of foreign models from Europe but rather as a question of the circulation of texts and cultural traditions within Iberia. It focuses on translation projects that originated within and among Iberian cultures in the nineteenth century, and that projected themselves outward. This study proposes a genealogy that links the revival and spread of floral games in Catalonia and across Spain beginning in the 1850s to translation practices in the Peninsula in the early twentieth century. After an analysis of the relationship between the spread of the floral games and the perception of their decadence in Catalan literary historiography, the article proposes an alternate understanding of the phenomenon that links the floral tradition to translingual cultural projects. Particular attention is paid to the 'polyglot edition' of Catalan poet Joaquim Rubió i Ors' Lo Gayter del Llobregat ('The piper of the Llobregat River') (1888–1902). This publication, like the floral tradition that proliferated alongside it, reflects an effort to create a multilingual literary sphere anchored in the Iberian Peninsula that Spanish and Catalan literary histories have overlooked. The increase in longevity in Spain will not be accompanied by better health in the vulnerable population. This population will spend more years with chronic problems and dependencies if another care model is not developed. As a consequence, it is estimated that an exponential increase in professionals and caregivers will also be required in this decade. This growth is estimated at 25% of professionals if there is no change in the way of attending to this population. The most important problem is not the magnitude of the challenge or the lack of solutions, but rather the lack of response from the policy sphere. The essay analyses Fulvio Tessitore's volume devoted to Ramón Menéndez Pidal and Américo Castro. Both intellectuals were faced with an enormous challenge that demanded a study of the history of Spain at multiple levels, from the most transcendental political events to the most sublime linguistic, literary, artistic and religious expressions. But this task, according to Tessitore, was not designed simply to reconstruct the past for the sake of erudition, but to learn from its history and draw from it the necessary recommendations useful for proposing fundamental future transformations in all spheres of Spanish society. After an initial period characterized by experimentation, amateurism, small audiences, technological difficulties, and scarce funding, podcasting is now fully consolidated. The aim of this paper is to analyze the characteristics of the Spanish podcast sphere: its structural, personal, thematic, formal, economic, and dissemination aspects. To this end, a content analysis of 21 variables was applied to the 206 programs that attained the highest popularity in the general rankings of Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and iVoox during the first quarter of 2021. Along the structural dimension, the results reveal the preponderance of digital-native podcasts in comparison with previously broadcast podcasts, and of podcasts promoted by radio stations or those associated with networks over independent ones. Regarding the personnel involved, programs produced by professionals from the media or other cultural industries are more popular than those produced by amateurs, while those presented by men are more popular than those presented by women. Regarding their themes, content related to mystery and/or crime, history, entertainment, and emotional well-being predominates. In the formal sphere, the majority of programs are exclusively audio programs, produced weekly and in Spanish, with a limited presence of the other co-official languages in Spain. In terms of funding, the most common situation is production by media groups or podcast networks, followed by monetization on YouTube and offering additional services. Based on all this, the main conclusion of this study is that podcasting in Spain has abandoned the democratizing potential attributed to it by some theorists and researchers in its beginnings to become embedded in a largely commercial logic. The article analyzes two 18th-century theatrical works in Spain, "La casa de Chinita" and "El pueblo feliz," which address themes related to enlightened reforms in the socioeconomic and moral spheres. These works portray the problems of Spanish society at the time and present solutions that symbolize enlightened ideals. The importance of raising awareness about the interrelation between society and economy in that historical moment is highlighted. This article looks at new ways of putting the past on display, specifically the digital sources pertaining to the Spanish transition that constitute the new digital, historical and journalistic public sphere. The article describes and analyses the database resulting from the HISMEDI: Political Transition to Democracy project, with the aim of distinguishing and quantifying the different digital sources that are part of its collections. Since 2016 we have witnessed a rather fruitful production of works outside the academic sphere on Andalusian feminism, understood as a different way of understanding and experiencing feminism as determined by the specificities of that territory. In this article, we intend to analyse whether academic feminism has paid attention to this new current before, with the aim of achieving two objectives. Firstly, to clarify whether Andalusian feminism exists only since its categorization as such, or whether it already existed before, even if that denomination was not used yet. Secondly, to clarify whether all the literature on feminism produced in or about Andalusia can be considered Andalusian feminism, or whether in order to qualify as such it must fulfil a series of specific characteristics. To this end, after a brief genealogy of the academic feminism in Spain and, above all, in Andalusia, we have carried out a systematized review of the Wos, Scopus, Dialnet and InDICes-CSIC databases, from 1975 to 2020 in order to find the possible academic roots of Andalusian feminism. In this review, we have found that, although there have been works on feminist issues in Andalusia, these have not been done from the perspective of Andalusian feminism. The objective is to trace the role of the AATS and its most representative members in the construction of an academic field that was emerging in the United States, always considering the geopolitical context of each moment, in which both Spain and Latin America participated. While a network of connections is being woven between scholars internationally, it is shown how the AATS becomes a pioneering institution in the creation of instructional materials in Spanish and in the configuration of Hispanic studies in the U.S. educational sphere. In a context of re-definition of what is Agroecology, we reflect on the characteristics of an agroecological education for food sovereignty (AEFS). To do this, we analyse four courses self-claiming to have a food sovereignty focus in the formal and non-formal spheres in Brazil and Spain by answering three questions: "from where" (motivations and actors promoting it), "who" (teachers, students), and "how" (pedagogies). We describe the commonalities and differences among them and show that in developing AEFS, the most important question is the from where. However, important differences may exist between the formal and non-formal spheres, mostly in the who and the how. AEFS in the classroom is based on diálogo de saberes , participatory methodologies and dynamics with a rotational focus (alternancia) on learning from the dialectic between theory and practice and reflection and action. Furthermore, the emotional and organizational spaces are as important as the "official" content of the course. We conclude that despite existing barriers to follow some of pedagogical tools in the formal sphere, it is possible to develop AEFS with a focus on transformative education. • In a resignification context of Agroecology, agroecological education is another terrain in dispute. • Agroecological Education for Food Sovereignty (AEFS) aims at transforming power relationships. • In AEFS the who and from where are as important as the how. • In AEFS, the emotional and organizational spaces are as important as the "official" content of the course. • In the formal context, despit some barriers exist, it is possible to develop AEFS. The early 1960s in Spain saw the beginnings of a cycle of protest against the dictatorship of Francisco Franco that would end by rendering its continuity unviable after the dictator's death in 1975. The process of building democracy was undertaken bidirectionally, both from 'above' and from 'below', and it involved multiple actors. This article pays special attention to those 'democratizing agents' in civil society who acted in the cultural and educational spheres, as teachers, students, protest singers or members of the cultural centres and neighbourhood associations that emerged at that time, especially in rural Andalusia. It argues that through day-to-day micro-conflicts and micro-mobilizations, those actors acquired and transmitted civic–democratic guidelines and values. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This work analyzes the communication discipline in Ibero-America regarding the dynamics of publication and collaboration, thus identifying the communities that have took part in its scientific narrative. It emphasizes the endeavor carried out in Mexico, in the context of the main countries that have contributed to consolidate the communication as a field of knowledge. The study universe consists of 8,989 scientific articles published between 2005 and 2018 in the 27 communication journals linked to Redalyc and are evaluated as a scientific product based on their methodology and indicators. The analysis identified the relevance of regional journals in the consolidation of this discipline as well as the central position of Spain, Brazil and Mexico thanks to their contribution to the scientific literature. In addition, this work highlights the presence of collaborator networks, which are mostly institutional, while in the international sphere it highlights the strong link between Latin America and Spain. The article discusses globus cruciger, a cross-topped orb or globe, and the Spanish empire during the Enlightenment. Topics include the interrelationship between science and religion, the symbolic meanings of the globus cruciger, it's use as regalia, the scientific and philosophic understandings of spheres and ellipses, and the Jesuits spread of Western and Christian symbolism.

In proton therapy facilities, high-energy neutron fields are generated as a consequence of (p,Xn) nuclear interactions. UPM has designed and tested its own extended-range Bonner Spheres Spectrometer (BSS) to support the development of this technology in Spain. This work shows the results obtained in the first experimental testing of this new BSS, using for the first time the ReBUNKI unfolding code in this kind of BSS. An intercomparison exercise with several unfolding codes has been carried out to validate ReBUNKI results and the new extended-range BSS response matrix. • Design and testing of a novel extended-range Bonner Spheres Spectrometer (BSS). • Comparison of neutron unfolding codes: BUNKIUT, NSDUAZ, NSDann, ReBUNKI and UMG. • Validation of ReBUNKI as a reliable unfolding code for extended-range BSSs. • Comparison of H*(10) estimations by different techniques: monitors and spectrometry. The three-dimensional exposures of the Sierra Blanca marbles and neighbouring rocks in the western Betic cordillera of the south of Spain show tight to isoclinal F folds re-folded by a larger sheath-like structure. The relationships between both structures are as follows: (1) The mean axial surface for Sierra Blanca sheath fold can be defined as the great circle of best fit through the ß-axes of sub-cylindrical F folding domains. (2) The asymmetric F-folds indicate a single mainly eastward normal sense of shear. (3) The mean attitude of the axial-plane crenulation foliation, Sc, is also sub-parallel to the mean axial surface for Sierra Blanca sheath fold.
