PLANT stems ,GENETIC variation ,STANDARD deviations ,STATISTICAL correlation ,PLANTS ,IRRIGATED soils ,BLACK cotton soil - Abstract
The aim of the study is to determine the variability and correlations between morphological characters for the vegetative development of cocksfoot collection and to make a selection of genotypes for different directions of use – for fodder (hay and pasture) and turf purposes. During the period 2017−2019 in the Institute of Forage crops – Pleven a collection nursery was studied in field non-irrigated conditions on leached black soil, in block method, in 2 replications of a total of 6 accessions of cocksfoot, with 50 individual plants each (3 varieties and 3 ecotypes, tetraploid, from Bulgaria and Romania). Mean, minimum, maximum values, standard deviations, variation and correlation coefficients for plant height, tuft width at base and top, habitus, number of leaves, leaf length and width, stem thickness, stem number were present. A great genetic diversity was found in the morphological features of the cocksfoot collection accessions, both between them and within population. Highest values of variation coefficients (CV) were obtained for plant stems – 77.55%, habitus – 47.12%, and stem width – 29.04%, respectively. The correlation analysis between the morphological traits in the cocksfoot accessions from the possible 36 cases of correlations, determines 9 significant ones, as in two cases there are positive correlations, and the other seven are negative, ie. the chances of tandem selection are 25% of the total case. There is a positive relationship between the tuft width above (TWA) and the base (TWB), as well as the habitus (HS) and the tuft width of the base (TWB). Significant negative correlations are observed between: the stem width (SW) and the width of the tuft above (TWA); leaf length (LL) and tuft width at the base (TWB); the thickness of the guide stem (SW) and the width of the tuft at the base (TWB); number of leaves (LN) and habit (HS); leaf length (LL) and habit (HS); number of plant stems (SN) and leaf length (LL); the number of plant stems (SN) and the stem width (SW). The group of varieties of cocksfoot Dabrava, Intensiv and Magda are suitable for hay and pasture use; the Topolovgrad ecotype – for turf in orchards; The BGR1120 and Bekovi skali ecotypes can be of a mixed type of use - both for fodder and for turf in orchards. TALL fescue ,PLANT stems ,STANDARD deviations ,PERSONALITY development ,FESCUE ,IRRIGATED soils ,BLACK cotton soil - Abstract
The aim of the study is to determine the variability and correlations between morphological characters for the vegetative development of fescue collection and to make a selection of genotypes for different directions of use – for fodder and ornamental purposes. During the period 2017-2019 in the Institute of Forage crops – Pleven a collection nursery was studied in field non-irrigated conditions on leached black soil, in block method, in 2 replications of a total of 8 specimens of the genus Festuca, (3 species: reed, meadow and red fescue, 4 varieties, 3 ecotypes and 1 selection population, from Bulgaria, Romania and Belgium). Mean, minimum, maximum values, standard deviations and variation coefficients for plant height, tuft width at base and top, habitus, number of leaves, leaf length and width, stem thickness, stem number were present. Highest values of variation coefficients (CV) were obtained for plant stems – 70.86%, leaf width – 49.88% and leaf length – 41.01%. The correlation analysis between the morphological traits in the fescue accessions from the possible 36 cases, determines 15 highly significant positive correlations, ie. the chances of tandem selection are 41.6% of the total case. The height of the plants (H) is outlined as a priority character and has a significant relationship with: the width of the tuft above; width of the tuft at the base; number of leaves; length and width of the leaves. The width of the tuft above (TWA) correlates positively with: the width of the tuft at the base; number of leaves; length and width of the leaves. The width of the tuft at the base (TWB) also positively correlates with: number of leaves; length and width of the leaves. The number of leaves (LN) has a positive relationship with the length and width of the leaves. Leaf length (LL) correlates with leaf width. Ecotype red fescue Ravnogor is characterized by a small height (H=24.73 cm); middle habit (score=4.67); narrow tuft at base (TWB=12.94 cm) and top (TWA=30.12 cm); very small number of leaves (LN=2.12); which are short (LL=6.02 cm) and narrow (LW=1.05 mm); with a large number (SN/plant=136.35) of thin (SW=1.10 mm) stems, which makes it promising for decorative purposes. The good combination of the correlatively related signs height, habit, width of the tuft on top and in the base in the variety of tall fescue Albena with values: H-73.59 cm; HS-1-3 (from semiupright to fully upright); TWA-62.19 cm; TWB-26.42 cm, together with the greater foliage and leaf size (LN>4. LL=22.04 cm, LW=7.00 cm); a large number of mediumthick stems (SN/plant=108.98 and SW=2.86 mm) makes it very suitable for haymaking. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Environmental impact assessment has emerged as a basic tool in identification and reduction of negative environmental consequences due to anthropogenic activities, reflecting a preventive approach to environmental management, with a view to sustainable development. Our research is made in Sibiu County, from Romania, and concerns the impact of the local waste landfill on the main environmental factors (water, air, soil). The proposed methods of prevention and reduction of pollution are characteristic of the technological process, and are given by the following conformations: waterproofing of the warehouse, realization of leachate drainage / discharge / treatment system, procedures for: acceptance of waste at storage, technological self-monitoring, self-monitoring of emissions and quality factors environment, procedures for cell closure with the implementation of the biogas combustion system resulting from anaerobic decomposition of waste, fencing (with fence and forest curtain). FOLK songs , *COLLECTIONS - Abstract
The collection contains a selection of folk songs from the Hungarian population living in Romania. Of the four volumes planned, three have been published so far. The entire collection is expected to span 18 regions and 3 micro-regions, as well as a strip of hundreds of kilometers from Transylvania and other areas outside Transylvania. These include some more developed areas which abandoned their traditions in the first half of the last century, and some more traditional regions. The first three volumes comprise folk songs from 174 localities, collected by 126 collectors, including Béla Bartók, Zoltán Kodály, László Lajtha, János Jagamas and Zoltán Kallós. The collections took place between 1899 and 2017. The melodies have been selected from the archives of Transylvanian and Hungarian institutions, as well as from audio materials accompanying various publications. In this selection I have tried to add as many songs as possible which belong to the old strata of folk songs. I have tried to include as many pentatonic melodies as possible because these strata predominantly feature this scale. Also, in the last century the everyday folk-song repertoire shifted toward a fixed-rhythm performance mode. An ancient form, with its speech-like mode of performance, is now in the process of being lost. Therefore, the number in the published volumes is smaller than that of the folk songs performed in a tight rhythm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

RYEGRASSES , *LOLIUM perenne , *BLACK cotton soil , *PLANT stems , *STANDARD deviations , *PLANT variation - Abstract
The aim of the study is to determine the variability of morphological characters for the vegetative development of perennial ryegrass collection and to make a selection of genotypes for different directions of use - for fodder and ornamental purposes. During the period 2015-2018 in the Institute of Forage crops - Pleven a collection nursery was studied in fi eld non-irrigated conditions on leached black soil, in block method, in 2 replications of a total of 21 accessions of perennial ryegrass, with 50 individual plants each (15 varieties and 6 ecotypes, 11 tetraploid and 10 diploid, from Bulgaria, Belgium, Romania and China). Mean, minimum, maximum values, standard deviations and variation coefficients for plant height, tuft width at base and top, habitus, number of leaves, leaf length and width, stem thickness, stem number were present. A great genetic diversity was found in the morphological features of the perennial ryegrass collection accessions, both between them and within population. Highest values of variation coefficients (CV) were obtained for plant stems - 43.05%, habitus - 33.85%, leaf length and width - 25.43% and 26.16%, respectively. In the collection the tetraploid varieties have higher plants, longer and broader leaves and more upright habitus, which ensures higher productivity of fodder and for ornamental and amenity purposes are suitable diploid varieties and ecotypes, with lower plants, short and narrow leaves. NATIONAL museums ,WEAPONS -- Exhibitions ,MUSEUM exhibits ,KINGS & rulers - Abstract
The National Military Museum Ferdinand I (Muzeul Militar Naţional Ferdinand I) and National Pe Ies Castle (Castelul Naţional Peleş) are host to the most valuable weapons collections in Romania. The National Military Museum was founded on 18th of December 1923, since then it has occupied various premises, undergoing reorganising, improvements and growth in the size of the collection. Today the weapons collection, considerably larger than at inception, is exhibited on the ground floor of a building that holds all the major collections of the museum mentioned above. The collection at Peles Castle, host to some of the most representative weapons from the 13th-19th centuries, were gathered by King Carol I, with the help of his German armament specialist; Julius Scheuer. The King was not trying to present the evolution of weapons over the centuries, his aim was to acquire artefacts based on an artistic criterion, shapes, types and origins. His approach led to the weapons being arranged on panoplies, but this way of exhibiting artefacts on top of artefacts was a bit too crowded. This exhibition system was kept until 1977, when Peles Castle was the subject of multiple consolidation and restorations works, completed in 1983. During this time, the entire collection was studied and reorganized, taking into considerations criteria like place and date of the forge, typology etc. We believe that our extensive experience both in armament, and the study of these collections, should be shared with the public, as well with the specialists in armament history. This paper represents an important contribution to the knowledge of the Romanian butterfly heritage, thereby completing the literature faunal data of great interest for the values of the natural heritage. In the Lepidoptera collection of "Lucian Blaga" University-Sibiu, there are 1,017 samples, 660♂♂ and 357♀♀, belonging to 19 families, 334 genera, 572 species. The collection was acquired in 1998 from Lepidopterolog Levente Szekely from Braşov. The list of the 572 species renders the collecting data of each specimen, the altitude, the name of the collecting sites and the classification in geographical regions of Romania, as well as the degree of endangerment, which are of great documentary value. The systematic classification is updated according to Verzeichnis der Schmetterlinge Romäniens (RÁKOSY et al., 2003). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

WASTE management , *WASTE recycling , *WASTE minimization , *SANITARY engineering - Abstract
This paper aims to highlight the concerns about the waste management and at the same time highlighting its regional peculiarities. Municipal waste management methods in use today are related both to the waste that are being generated and collected, as well as waste that are generated and then collected. Collected waste are waste that are being generated and then collected by the sanitation services. Waste uncollected is waste generated but not collected by sanitation services. The methods that are used, such as statistical analysis, comparative studies, historical method, allowed the authors to comprehends the evolution of this phenomenon. This paper is a systematic investigation of this phenomenon based on waste generation, collection and transport of them to their reuse and treatment. The analysis made in the region of Galati in Romania revealed that waste generation is influenced by several factors such as those tied to the region population trends or changes in the economy and the of consumer demand nature, changes in production technology. The data analyzed led to the identification of a clear trend of municipal waste generated annually. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

CERAMIC toys , *NATIONAL museums - Abstract
The patrimony of the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant contains a special category of objects: clay toys. The almost 2000 pieces constitute a veritable world in miniature. People, birds, animals, as well as copies of traditional kitchen utensils were skilfully shaped by master potters for use in childrens games. These toys take the following forms: „primitive” musical instruments, anthropomorphic miniatures (men, women in crinolines), avimorphic and zoomorphic (chicken, hen with chicks, peacocks, dogs, rams, horses, horses with riders, bears, lions), as well as miniatures modeled on traditional kitchenware (pots, cups, jugs, plates, platters, cake pans). Their molding was accomplished either manually, that is on the wheel or by pressing the clay into templates. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BOOK collecting , *UNIVERSITIES & colleges - Abstract
The book collection of the History of Medicine Department of the Cluj „Iuliu Haţieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy was created during the first interwar decade, by Prof. Dr. Jules Guiart (1870-1965) - the founder of this department. For this purpose Guiart was helped by his disciple Valeriu Bologa (1892-1971). The collection was developed between 1930 and 1962, when Bologa was professor and head of this department. Some books have a special value, owing to their author's dedications. A part of these dedications were personalized, being addressed to V. Bologa and to other professors of the Cluj Faculty of Medicine. Other volumes were offered „to the Library of the Cluj Institute of History of Medicine”. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
