COVID-19 pandemic , *COVID-19 , *NUTRITION surveys , *SOCIOECONOMIC factors , *QUARANTINE - Abstract
Objective. To examine compliance to isolation and quarantine recommendations during the early phase of the Covid-19 epidemic in Mexico. Materials and methods. Cross-sectional population-based study (National Health and Nutrition Survey 2020 Covid-19). We estimated the prevalence of compliance with recommendations and assessed its association with individual, household and context level variables using log-binomial models. Results. 48.1% of the population over 10 years old reported staying at home when faced with symptoms or a potential contact with a case. The prevalence was lower in employed vs unemployed population (PR 0.81; 95%IC 0.73-0.89), higher among higher socioeconomic position groups vs lower (RP 1.22; 95%IC 1.08-1.38), and lower among people living in states with an unspecific public health message regarding isolation and quarantine (RP 0.76; 95%IC 0.63-0.91). Conclusions. Compliance to isolation and quarantine recommendations was associated with socioeconomic factors and the quality of public health messages during the Covid-19 pandemic in Mexico. SQUAMOUS cell carcinoma , *KI-67 antigen , *ALCOHOL drinking , *DIAGNOSIS , *CELL proliferation - Abstract
The clinical, pathological and immunohistochemical aspects of a OSCC case diagnosed belatedly with a fatal outcome are presented as well as a retrospective-descriptive report. The data of the clinical history, the anatomopathological study and the cell proliferation index are measured by the Ki-67 antibody. The result of this advanced stage cancer case is the death of the patient. We highlight the importance of an oral examination performed by a professional with the capacity to identify injuries early, that may contribute to the decrease of deaths due to OSCC in Mexico. Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is mainly caused by excessive consumption of alcohol and tobacco. It mainly affects men over the age of 50. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ENDOSCOPIC retrograde cholangiopancreatography , *MALARIA , *ACIDOSIS , *AUTOPSY , *BONE marrow - Abstract
BACKGROUND: Histoplasmosis is caused by the dimorphic fungus Histoplasma capsulatum. In Mexico it is considered the systemic mycosis with the highest prevalence. CLINICAL CASE: A 24-year-old man began 3 months prior with a weight loss of 15 kg, unquantified intermittent fever, abdominal pain in the right upper quadrant and dyspnea. Based on the findings, an upper endoscopy and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography were performed, as well as a hemodialysis session due to anuria and severe metabolic acidosis. The patient's condition leads to respiratory failure, resulting in cardiorespiratory arrest and death. Postmortem histopathological analysis showed the presence of Histoplasma capsulatum in bone marrow, lung, liver, spleen, and kidney. ELISA postmortem serology for HIV was positive CONCLUSIONS: Disseminated histoplasmosis represents an entity with high morbidity and mortality. Histopathological diagnosis is essential to determine the final diagnosis when the other auxiliary diagnostic tests are inconclusive or negative and there is a high suspicion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article focuses, from the prism of International Economic Law (IEL), on the issue of remittances and international migration, with an approach based on human rights and economic inequality in this hemisphere. It is particularly limited to the case study of Mexico and its dynamics of individual and collective remittances, sent by the Mexican migrant population residing in the United States to their families and communities in Mexico. The analysis of the issue of remittances is also carried out with a look at economic globalization and with a trans-territorial approach of the Mexican nation-state, which is integrated in addition to its population settled in its territorial space, by the Mexican population residing in the States. The present study is from the IEL perspective, the epistemic synergy becomes relevant in a context of international migration with a human rights view, in order to analyze the remittances linked to the phenomenon of economic inequality and its potential effects for Mexico and the United States in the present decade. In recent years, several regions in Mexico are confronting a humanitarian crisis produced by rising numbers of internally displaced people. Some subnational governments have approved innovative legislation on internal displacement due to a lack of regulation at a national level, expecting to provide a solution to such a critical problem. In this article, we analyze the legislation approved in Chiapas. We draw on institutional strength theory to argue that the political process in Chiapas delivered a weak, "aspirational" institution. Far from creating substantive change on this matter, it has only generated assistance-driven actions. This research shows that, despite remarkable legislation, governmental assistance to internally displaced people is still hindered by diverging political interests and weak state capacity. VIRTUAL communications , *STATE universities & colleges , *LANGUAGE policy , *LANGUAGE schools , *LANGUAGE awareness - Abstract
This article aims at describing the processes and outcomes of a virtual exchange initiative carried out by the International Language Center of the State University of Northern Paraná (UENP), Brazil, in partnership with UGMEX Campus Pluviosilla, Mexico, considering its contributions and challenges for the development of learners' linguistic and intercultural awareness by means of transnational partnerships, English as a lingua franca (ELF) communication, and internationalization at home policies. The partnership was held during the first months of the COVID-19 pandemic, which impacted the students and teachers' regular routines in both institutions. The case study presented here is theoretically grounded on studies on virtual exchange practices, internationalization and English language teaching, conducted by authors such as Telles and Vassallo (2009), Salomão (2020), O'Dowd (2017, 2018), Cavalari (2018), and ELF authors such as Jenkins (2000, 2006, 2009), Kirkpatrick (2006), Seidlhofer (2001). The research methodology is based on a qualitative approach of analysis of the data generated through Google applications, by the instructors and participants, such as the sessions diaries. The analysis indicated some limitations in asynchronous activities proposed and the pedagogical potential and demands for the consolidation of the virtual exchange between the institutions. UNIVERSITIES & colleges , *BUSINESSPEOPLE , *EDUCATIONAL intervention , *PRIVATE sector , *BUSINESS planning , *ACTION research in education - Abstract
The relationship between universities and the business sector is becoming more relevant. When exploring education and training in higher education institutions, the challenge is to establish whether teaching is oriented towards interpreting theory through experimentation, methods, and multidisciplinary work in the existing context or whether it focuses on memorizing theory and carrying out evaluations only. In this sense, this research aimed to determine the effect of an educational intervention proposal linking higher education students with small businesses through action research. An experimental, cross-sectional, and descriptive quantitative and qualitative design was used. The study sample consisted of small businesses from the northern border of Mexico, for which students from the Universidad Autónoma of Ciudad Juárez developed a business plan. Descriptive data were analyzed using the SPSS statistical tool. The results reveal that the learning was more significant for the students with this practice. For entrepreneurs, there were significant positive changes in their companies. Proposing linkage programs in the face of the diverse needs of the companies contributes to the development of university students, higher education institutions, and companies. It also contributes to the generation of new knowledge and the acquisition of real-world practices for students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The objective of this research was to identify the influencing factors in terminal efficiency in a rural secondary school in Yucatan, Mexico. It exposes the intercultural approach, which guided the search on the perceptions and ideas of the agents of a school community of a secondary school attended by Mayan children. The methodology used was ethnography throughout a school year accompanied by participant observation, interviews, and questionnaires. It is concluded that terminal efficiency is disrupted by the lack of interest of parents and students, the need of young people to support the household economy, life as a couple at an early age, absence of protective circumstances; in such a way that the factors involved are economic, motivational, family situation and the role of the teacher, much of it related to structural issues that have progressively impoverished and marginalized the Mayan people. Taking as a starting point that the crime novel in Mexico has been nationalized with the neopolicial developed by Paco Ignacio Taibo II, this study addresses the presence of those reflections on the detective occupation within the Mexican context included in his nine novels featuring Héctor Belascoarán Shayne. These reflections, which constitute judgments and qualifications towards the aforementioned character, as well as comparisons between him and the classic references of the crime novel, question the existence and the plausibility of this occupation in Mexican reality, while in turn they outline a series of characteristics of the Mexican detective, and at the same time presenting an example of the realism to which the Taibo's crime literature aspires. This study, therefore, aims to show that the difficult assimilation of the existence of a detective in Mexico should be considered as a feature of the nationalization of the neopolicial genre. In 2020, China displaced the United States as the main country of origin of cross-border M&A type investments and ranked fourth as the origin of new greenfield projects. This process has been accompanied by a growing diversification of investments towards activities in electricity, construction of transport infrastructure, manufacturing, finance, and information and communication technologies. The article examines the determinants of Chinese direct investment in Mexico from a systemic and territorial perspective under the premise that the growing presence of direct investment by Chinese private companies in the AAI is explained by the favorable prospects for demand generated by the presence of global assemblers in Mexico and location variables such as proximity to the United States, agglomeration economies and the benefits of the USMCA. KNOWLEDGE transfer , *GROUP process , *HIGHER education , *LITERATURE reviews , *SOCIALIZATION - Abstract
The apparent lack of practicality of the contents generated in the social sciences and humanities (CSH), results in the approach of the problem of this research, since contrary to other scientific disciplines that are associated with the direct application of knowledge in practice, here, we look for to identify possibilities by linking the higher education sectors with social entities, taking as a reference for this, the concretion of a knowledge transfer model (TC) specific to the CSH and their respective operating mechanisms, which allows a process of connection between the educational and social sectors. From the identification of the TC model and mechanisms based on the review of the literature, a mixed type investigation was carried out: (1) with the participation of 17 experts from the area of organizational management and 13 social entities, where through focus groups a validation process was carried out; and (2) the application of a questionnaire to 222 teachers in the area of CSH assigned to higher education and representatives of 24 social entities, who evaluated the relevance of the model and the mechanisms of the TC, as well as the possible barriers that they would face in their application. The result of the investigation allowed us to identify various conditions and characteristics on the ways of executing the processes, as well as the aspects that surrounds this kind of proposal in terms of their implications, limitations and strengths that favor bringing this kind of initiatives to a reality. FEAR of crime , *CAPITAL punishment , *LIBERTY , *CIVIL rights , *PUNISHMENT , *CRIME - Abstract
This article studies the relationship between fear of crime and demands for harsher punishments against those accused of criminal activity. We consider two types of fear of crime: 1) fear of robberies; and 2) fear of murder. This study is relevant because in situations of substantial fear of crime, citizens may be willing to sacrifice certain civil and personal liberties in exchange for greater security (Tulchin & Ruthenburg, 2006; Buil-Gil, 2016). We find that fear of being killed is consistently associated with increases in demand for harsh punishment, including the death penalty. Our analysis also suggests that when the magnitude of the harm that crime can cause is smaller, that association is weakened. This result suggests that in conditions of insecurity for life, the demands for the establishment of disproportionate sentences tend to intensify, and therefore, the incentives for the practice of punitive populism strengthen. The General Archive of the Nation (agn) in Mexico has functioned for more than two-hundred and thirty years, but there are no contemporary studies on its history. Faced with this problem, in this article I study the last ninety years of the agn's history from the study of the Boletín del Archivo General de la Nación, understood as a discursive form that functions as a record transmitter of knowledge and an indicator of historical change. The main argument of this article is that archival science as a feminized auxiliary science of history has been neglected by the production of historical knowledge under assumptions advanced by sexist premises. In light of this, I propose a methodology through which archival science and the craft of archivists come to the fore in the historical analysis of Mexican archival history. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article seeks to analyze the role of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and bank credit to the industrial sector as expansion factors for the productive sector in Mexico from 1995 to 2020. During this period, Mexico was transitioning from an economy with high tariff protection to an open economy, under the generally accepted theoretical postulate that financial repression impeded the free flow of investment. This scenario was unfavorable for an industry that was beginning to reconfigure itself within the framework of a secondary export model. Analysis was conducted using a Markov regime switching model and an Error Correction Vector Model (ECVM). The selected models do not reveal any causal relationship from the financial sector to the real sector or vice versa. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In recent years, the dominant model of Eurasian Neolithic domestication has been transformed. Such explains the origin of dozens of specific animal lineages through artificial selection processes, which we use until today. The current vision recognizes a biocultural diversity, integrating the different local processes of management and breeding of animal species. Therefore, the domestication process includes biological, geographical, and cultural dimensions, which are present in all chronological stages of human groups, including ongoing times. The turkeys, identified as the genus Meleagris, are a group of American endemic pheasants, comprising two species: the ocellated turkey (M. ocellata) and the Northern or wild turkey (M. gallopavo). Over the previous ten years, this last species had a renewed research process mainly on genetics and other issues. The results indicate a relationship with early human groups in America that includes symbolic and diverse practical purposes, two events of species management in the continent, as well as changes in geographical areas due to cultural practices. However, some questions are still arising interest: How early is the association of wild turkey with human cultures, and if the presence of wild turkeys in Central Mexico is a natural or cultural effect. This article makes a brief review on the subject. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We explore the conceptualization of geodiversity and its implication in the conservation of biodiversity; furthermore, we present the perspective of some Mexican naturalists of the XIX century regarding geodiversity, and case studies from central Mexico that evidence the importance of the fossil record in the conservation of nature. The study is based on the revision of previous interpretations about the concepts and field work in fossiliferous localities of Puebla and Hidalgo. It is shown that fossils are part of geodiversity that testify the evolution of biota in the geological past, playing an important role in the proposal of strategies for biological conservation. Thus, paleobiological conservation integrates paleontological and ecological information used as evidence to understand current environmental modifications and alterations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

As an example, we analyze the community goods of Izamal, through the "Matricula y cuenta de comunidad de los indios de la cabecera y pueblo de Izamal de 1795", a document located in the Archivo General de la Nacion of Mexico. "The Matricula y cuenta" is, along with Buczotz and Pixila (previous documents in the same record), the only ones of its kind that we have found for the Yucatecan towns of the eighteenth century. Finally, we propose that the Izamal neighborhoods corresponded to the guild farms sold a few years before by the bishop fray Luis Piña y Mazo. As they were also part of the community goods, the farms were deliberately concealed by local authorities to avoid their dispossession and to preserve the bonds of community reciprocity. REGIONAL planning , *FINANCIALIZATION - Abstract
In recent decades, some intermediate Mexican cities show a high economic dynamism whose most evident territorial expression has been a dispersed and diffuse expansion over increasingly wideranging spatial areas that generally were considered eminently rural. This is the case of the city of Querétaro and its expansion sphere, scattered over the rural areas of El Marqués and, especially, Colón. In this sense, this work analyses and characterizes the socio-territorial transformation of this expansion area of an intermediate city, through a theoretical-methodological approach of a structural-systemic type, whose unit of analysis goes beyond the city, it includes its linked rural spaces, in which the recent financialization schemes of the real estate sector generate new configurations and spatial inequalities that lead to a dispersed and disorderly occupation of the territory, where the premises of profitability of investors have replaced any coherent urban-regional planning criteria that privileges long-term sustainable local and environmental development. This text analyzes and examines theoretically and empirically what is now a matter of a serious discussion in the national academic environment around the production, diffusion and dissemination of scientific academic research: Do basic research activities contribute significantly to the progress in training of specialized personnel? If so, what role do academic diffusion products have as a teaching strategy in the area of communication studies in undergraduate and graduate programs? The objective was to evaluate the internal consistency and reliability of a theoretical scale that measures the production and scientific diffusion of communication in the higher education environment. A questionnaire with thirteen manifest variables was applied in a sample of 66 undergraduate and graduate professors in the area of Communication Sciences in a public university in of Mexico. The results confirm that a reliable instrument was available with data consistent with the validity of the scale. The evidence presented concludes that there are some causes to explain why undergraduate and graduate professional teaching and training are disconnected from research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

DOCUMENTARY photography , *SCHOOL violence , *SECONDARY education , *SECONDARY analysis , *URBAN schools , *HIGH schools - Abstract
This document it's a review of the concept of school coexistence based on the results of two studies cases carried out in a couple of Higher Secondary Education schools in the city of Aguascalientes (México), one with high levels of school violence and the other with low. Mixed collection techniques were used for both studies: secondary data analysis, questionnaires, individual interviews, group interviews, documentary analysis and others such as social cartography, metaphorical analysis, observation and collaborative ethnographic photography. Here it's argued that the concept of school coexistence has been treated inadequately in most of the literature on the subject, since they do not refer to interrelational practices within schools or of how people (especially the student body) relate to each other, but on how such practices are managed or should be managed. Here is a rethinking of the concept and a proposal of how to approach it from the sociocultural perspective is presented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper looks at the transnational cultural experiences of a Cantonese migrant while border crossing the United States and Mexico. Specifically, we explore his experiences while residing in transnational spaces [Mexico, the United States, and Canton (Guangzhou)]. Fieldwork including participant observation and qualitative data were collected through ethnographic interviews carried out during the period 2014-2016, at a Chinese food restaurant in Puebla, Mexico. Our goal is to understand the border crossing experience as a confluence of activities, which contribute to the construction of epistemologies from below and the understanding of transnationalism from a cultural approach. The objective of this study is to compare prices across ten food categories sold by four large food retail chains in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. The data was collected through mystery shoppers across a seven-month period. The analysis consisted of descriptive statistics and analyses of variance (ANOVA). The results suggest that the retailers in the study apply similar prices across ten food categories. This is one of the few studies conducted in the region to address food price convergence in the retail sector. The conclusion is that price convergence takes places among large retail chains in Tijuana. The main limitation of the study is the geographic focus. The implications are that retailers find themselves struggling to differentiate based on price, and end up making unsupported claims around lowest-price value propositions. Future studies can argue whether price convergence limits consumer choices or keeps prices in check. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The objective of the article is to present a panoramic analysis of cooperativism in Ciudad Juarez. A concurrent mixed method organized in two parallel phases is used: quantitative and qualitative. The documentary research consisted of reviewing newspaper sources and public archives to identify the legally constituted cooperatives. Observation techniques and semi-structured in-depth interviews were used. The main results are the outline of the background of cooperativism in Ciudad Juarez, its contours, and its macroeconomic presence. It also analyzes the correspondence of the management, practices, and values of the cooperative universe and the ideology and proposal of the social and solidarity economy. As an exploratory study, this article contributes to the documentation, reflection, and research on this subject, since the performance, practices, values, and potential are little known. The main limitation of the research is the lack of complete, transparent, and reliable statistical data on cooperativism. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article's objective was to determine the impact of the hardening of the Mexico-United States border, particularly by the partial closure of the border due to Covid-19-the migrant's conglomeration in the city and the limitation of cross-border mobility- in the reception of remittances in Ciudad Juárez. Applying linear regression model with ordinary least squares method and the Pearson and Spearman correlation analysis, we estimate the relationship between remittances with the number of border crossings and immigrant's concentration in the city. The results show that the only statistically significant variable was the partial closure of the border, through a decrease in the number of crossings, which has a negative relationship with the receipt of remittances in the locality, i.e., the fewer the number of crossings, the greater the receipt of remittances. POLITICAL systems , *TWENTY-first century , *GOVERNMENT policy , *UTOPIAS , *COLLECTIVE action , *SOCIAL movements - Abstract
Faced with popular dissatisfaction with liberal-capitalist democracy, at the beginning of the 21st century there is a governmental shift to the left in Latin America, in which Mexico is recently participating, with the arrival of the Morena party to power. The social movements that promote these political projects convey leftist utopias that seek to institutionalize themselves in political systems and public policies. However, this process of utopian institutionalization presents tensions and contradictions within the so-called party-movements. In this paper I present a methodological proposal for utopian analysis, which I apply to the "Colectivo La Calle", a group that is part of the lopezobradorista movement in Mexico. I analyze three utopias mediated by this group and find that indeed the Colectivo is mobilizing against Morena's pragmatism. This result adds to previous literature, which, given contemporary governmental experiences, questions the ability of the Latin American institutional left to overcome conservative hegemony. INCOME inequality , *QUANTILE regression , *REMITTANCES , *CITIES & towns , *CROSS-sectional method - Abstract
Although the association of remittances with inequality in Mexico has been previously studied, there is no consensus on the subject and it is seldom analyzed at municipal level. The objective of this study was to analyze the association between remittance reception in Mexico and inequality at municipal scale in 2015. We conducted a quantitative, descriptive, and cross-sectional study with data from the 2015 INEGI Intercensus Survey. We estimated a quantile regression to examine the relationship between household remittance reception and income inequality in all municipalities. Remittance reception was found to be associated with income inequality at municipal level after controlling for several characteristics of the municipalities. This is likely to occur because those that migrate do not necessarily come from the most disadvantaged sectors of the population, which produces social differences within communities between those who are able to migrate and those who are not. POLITICAL ecology , *WATER management , *WATER use , *COMMUNITIES , *PERSPECTIVE (Philosophy) , *RESOURCE management - Abstract
English abstract: The article approaches community water management in the rural town of El Mirador, Puebla, Mexico, from the political ecology perspective. To answer the question of how community water committees face the challenges of water management at the local level, we combine quantitative and qualitative methodologies. The results indicate that community households face lack of access to water, and the community committee manages the water from normative, technical, ecological and symbolic spheres, without having technical or financial support from the municipality, acting autonomously. We conclude that the norms established for the management of the resource of common use are consensual, which has fostered both sustainability in the use of water and the strengthening of community ties. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BACKGROUND: Tubular adenoma is a benign sweat gland tumor. It consists of a benign dermal nodule with dilated ducts, with size variation and lined by two or more layers of cuboidal and columnar epithelial cells that project unto the lumen in a papillary pattern. CLINICAL CASE: 73-year old female patient, who presented a exophytic skin lesion on the lateral side of the right ankle, with a ten-year evolution, along with an occasional pruritus. The lesion was extirpated with a clinical diagnosis of verruca vulgaris and histopathologically diagnosed as a tubular adenoma. One year after of surgery the patient is in good health, without recurrence or symptoms of the disease. CONCLUSIONS: The epidermis presented histopathological changes similar to a common wart, this being an uncommon presentation in a tubular adenoma. Tubular adenoma is a rare tumor, this one being the first reported in Mexico. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

INTELLECTUAL property , *TECHNOLOGY transfer , *INDUSTRIAL property , *GOVERNMENT policy , *KNOWLEDGE transfer , *LITERATURE reviews , *DRUG patents - Abstract
Introduction: In order to detonate the transfer of knowledge, the Mexican government has established the public policy of the creation of Technology Transfer Offices (OTT); however, this policy has proved ineffective due to the inconsistency in the permanence of most Mexican TTOs. Despite this, there are some OTTs that have excelled; such is the case of the OTT of the Benemerita Autonomous University of Puebla (OTT-BUAP) that was established in 2011. This office has positioned this university in the first places nationwide in the context of patent generation, reason for that this OTT has been the object of analysis of this study to answer the following question of this research: How has the OTT-BUAP managed to position itself within the best OTT in Mexico, in the field of patent management, during the 2011-2018 period? The general objective of this research is to contribute to the knowledge of the specialist in technology transfer and commercialization that is dedicated to the management of University OTTs. Regarding the review of the literature, it was found that this issue related to the performance of Mexican TTOs in the field of patent management has been poorly studied, which is why this research is justified. Method: This research is considered exploratory, qualitative, descriptive and transversal, which consisted in applying the case study methodology to the OTT-BUAP, based on six propositions made from secondary sources. Results: It was found that of the processes of intellectual property protection, consulting, licensing and the creation of spinoffs, only the process of intellectual property protection is the one that is in the maturation stage in said OTT. It was also found that the OTT-BUAP has an expert team in the drafting of patents, which was hired, specifically, for the creation and promotion of said OTT. Discussion or Conclusion: According to the results found in this investigation, the reason why the OTT-BUAP has positioned itself among the best OTTs in Mexico in the 2011-2018 period, is largely due to the fact that it has an effective patenting process, based on equitable regulations on the distribution of royalties supported by a strategic incentive plan to motivate researchers to protect the results of their research. This process was designed and managed by a researcher from the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property, an expert in intellectual property protection, hired by BUAP, specifically, to form a professional teamwork for the drafting of patents and other tasks related to the transfer and commercialization of technology that comes from the BUAP. Indigenous groups possess environmental knowledge that allows them to identify the landscape as a supplier of goods to meet needs such as food, clothing, housing and health. The present study has a biogeographic approach that aims to identify the traditional Mazahua herbalism in the biocultural landscape of two communities of the State of Mexico. Documentary research and semi-structured interviews were applied via digital media to contact the communities. The study shows that women of both communities give meaning to their environment by using it to care for their families' and communities' health; it highlights their knowledge and preservation of medicinal plants, which is part of their biocultural landscape manifested in the cultivation of medicinal plant and the conservation of communal collection sites where they obtain medicinal plants. The study also shows that the cultivation and collection sites of medicinal plants are also used for other purposes, which shows the biocultural nature of the landscape. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
