Intercultural communicative competence (ICC) is crucial for future workers in the global job market, where many feels unprepared to communicate effectively with culturally diverse colleagues. Therefore, university students must develop this skill to stay competitive. Experiential learning pedagogy, focused on ICC training, can enhance final-year students' abilities, offering an alternative to traditional teaching methods. To examine the effectiveness of experiential learning pedagogy in a redesigned ICC module for undergraduates, a multiple-group pre-test and post-test quasi-experimental design was adopted. Data were collected from 31 undergraduate students at two public universities in Indonesia. The module was redesigned to incorporate experiential learning pedagogy, providing various opportunities through face-to-face training workshops. Validated and reliable instruments measured students' experiential level with the pedagogy and their competencies in intercultural communication. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. Participants showed a substantial enhancement in the Intercultural Communicative Competency Scale after the training workshop, as evidenced by higher post-test scores compared to pre-test scores. Additionally, the post-test data demonstrated a moderate improvement in participants' expectations from the pre-test for the experiential learning pedagogy. The findings prove the effectiveness of both the content and the pedagogy of the module. Furthermore, these modules should continually integrate more interactive elements to better meet learners' needs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The issue of Construction and Demolition Waste (CDW) requires the attention of all stakeholders worldwide. CDW worldwide, including Indonesia, contributes more than one third of the world's waste. To address this issue, the GoI is promoting Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and a Circular Economy (CE) in various sectors, including construction. Simultaneously, the GoI is also promoting the standardization of engineering competency to ensure competitiveness and professionalism. However, the two efforts remain to be synergised, and therefore an evaluation is needed as a critic and a corrective. This research examines the contribution of basic engineering competencies to the implementation of the CE concept with respondents who are certified members of the Institution of Engineers Indonesia (PII) using IPA analysis. The research found that 4 competencies are dominantly perceived as performing well in contributing to the implementation of CE, which are Technical Knowledge (BC.1), Leadership and Management (BC.5), Design and Analysis (BC.3), and Lifelong Learning (BC.7). Meanwhile, the other 3 competences are not considered as a priority in supporting the concept of CE, which are Problemsolving Skills (BC.2), Communication Skills (BC.4) and Ethical Conduct (BC.6). To solve the basic problems of SDG and CE implementation, it is necessary to strengthen the competencies, knowledge, and skills of engineers by improving the vocational education curriculum and certifying professional engineers. Further research is needed to assess the influence of policy variables and regulations on the SDG and CE, in order to increase the competence and skills to implement CE in the construction sector in Indonesia. Introduction: Urinary tract stones are one of the most prevalent urological diseases worldwide. Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) and retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) are two primary treatment modalities for the said disease. This study analyzes and compares the clinical characteristics and outcomes of kidney stone patients undergoing PCNL and RIRS in Indonesia. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed patients with urinary tract stones who underwent PCNL and RIRS in a single hospital. Patient characteristics were retrieved from medical records between January 2022 and December 2023. We compared the age, gender, number, size of stones, as well as preoperative imaging, comorbid diseases, and stone-free rate (SFR) of the patients. Results: From January 2022 to December 2023, 116 cases of kidney stones were found in Universitas Airlangga Hospital. Sixteen patients underwent the RIRS procedure, and 100 patients underwent the PCNL procedure. Conclusions: Patients who underwent PCNL procedures for kidney stones are generally men over 40 years old with kidney stones larger than 2 cm and < 2 cm for RIRS procedures. The PCNL procedure has an overall higher SFR than the RIRS procedure, especially for large and complex stones. However, RIRS has a higher success rate for stones under 2 cm. The SFR of both modalities decreases as the Guy's stone score increases. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Turnover intention research with the addition of independent variables of work-life balance and work stress in nurses with health backgrounds is rarely found in type c public hospitals in Karawang city, where literature about this research needs to explain it. This research aims to ascertain how work-life balance, workplace stress, and work-family conflict affect nurses’ intentions to quit their jobs by using job satisfaction as a mediator. The sampling for this study was carried out using the probability sampling method known as proportionate stratified random sampling. A total of 550 nurses from 4 schools submitted responses. Work-life balance, workrelated stress, and job happiness all significantly influence the likelihood of turnover. The desire to increase orreduce hospital turnoveris significantly influenced by work-life balance, stress at work, and work-family conflict. This study has limitations that can lead to imperfect conclusions because the sample used is only the nurse division, so this study can only be generalized to some other districts. The variables studied still need to be reviewed to affect turnover intention by mediating job satisfaction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Izzatul Mu'minin Mosque (MIM) in Lembang aims to extend its impact beyond ritual worship to positively influence the wider community through worship, social, economic, educational, and da'wah activities. To achieve this, MIM seeks to become a regional center of civilization. This study analyzes internal and external factors to develop strategies for transforming MIM into a prosperous mosque, aligning with the Ministry of Religious Affairs' guidelines and the Quranic verse At-Taubah 18. A qualitative research method is used to explore the mosque’s context, utilizing observations, interviews, and document analysis to identify practical solutions. The research incorporates a strategic management approach to provide academically sound recommendations that benefit both the mosque and the broader community. Validation is ensured through triangulation of methods and informant input. Using the IE Matrix, MIM is positioned in Cell 5 (Hold & Maintain), while the SWOT Matrix helps generate strategic recommendations. Key strategies include enhancing communication forums for formal and informal discussions, collaborating with external communities for social activities, digitizing the mosque's infrastructure, improving facilities like bathrooms and ablution spaces, offering rest areas for worshippers and tourists, and establishing a baitul mal (financial body) with independent audits to ensure accountability. This study examines the impact of village fund (VF) transfers on rural welfare in Indonesia. We use the monthly night-time light (NTL) dataset as a proxy for rural welfare for around 75,000 villages from 2014 to 2019. Using Regression Discontinuity in Time (RDiT), we find that VF positively impacts rural welfare, as the value of Average Light Intensity (ALI) increases by almost 97% after the implementation of VF. The highest influence of VF transfers is revealed to be in underdeveloped villages. This indicates preliminary evidence of regional convergence, where poor villages grow faster than developed villages. In addition to the RDiT, the Difference in Difference (DiD) estimations show that the rural welfare of villages that received VF early in 2015 was 19% higher than those without VF in 2015. Objective: The aim of the article is to examine the interplay among dynamic capabilities, digitalization, and competitive advantage, with a specific focus on exploring the mediating influence of digitalization in the relationship between dynamic capabilities and competitive advantage among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Indonesian context. Research Design & Methods: We utilized a survey method for the collection of primary data. The respondents were SME founders in the provinces of Central Java and North Kalimantan, Indonesia, with a minimum of one year of business engagement. Moreover, we utilized Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLSSEM) analysis on 230 collected responses to examine the proposed hypotheses on the relationships among dynamic capabilities, digitalization, and competitive advantage. Findings: We found that dynamic capabilities, except for coordinating capability, positively influence the implementation of digitalization. This highlights the role of these capabilities in utilizing digital technologies effectively. The study also revealed a positive relationship between digitalization and SME competitive advantage. Furthermore, the study showed the significant role of digitalization in mediating the associations between sensing capability, learning capability, integrating capability, and competitive advantage. These findings underscore the importance of developing dynamic capabilities to facilitate digitalization for enhancing competitive advantage in the digital era. Implications & Recommendations: The study's implications for SMEs seeking to enhance competitive advantage through digitalization include the importance of improving sensing capability for market understanding, cultivating a learning culture for employee tech updates, and strengthening integrating capability by seamlessly incorporating digital technology into existing processes and functions. Contribution & Value Added: While many studies have concentrated on evaluating the direct impact of dynamic capabilities on firm competitive advantage or exploring different mediating factors, this research explored the indirect effects of SME's dynamic capabilities on competitive advantage, delving into digitalization's mediating role. Bidara upas (Merremia mammosa) and adas (Foeniculum vulgare Miller) are 2 medicinal plants that grow abundantly in Indonesia. This study investigated the chemical composition and biological activity of M. mammosa and F. vulgare. Phytochemical screening was conducted on both plants. However, only the essential oil of F. vulgare was analyzed for GC spectra. A total of 23 compounds were identified from the essential oil of F. vulgare, with anethole being the main constituent (79.02 %). The extract of M. mammosa had a higher total phenolic content (TPC) and total flavonoid content (TFC) of 50.241 ± 0.012 mg gallic acid equivalent (GAE) per gram extract and 53.968 ± 0.742 mg quercetin equivalent (QRE) per gram extract, respectively. In the DPPH antioxidant test, the IC50 value indicated that M. mammosa extract had better activity than F. vulgare, with an IC50 of 89.139 ± 0.189 μgmL-1. This is supported by the TAC (Total Antoxidant Capacity) and Reducing Power Hexacyanoferrate (III) values, which also show a better antioxidant potential in M. Mammosa than in F. vulgare. In addition, M. mammosa has been shown to have an IC50 value of 2.215 ± 0.015 mgmL-1 against α-amylase inhibition, which is slightly different from F. vulgare with an IC50 value of 2.467 ± 0.025 mgmL-1. Overall, the antimicrobial activity of F. vulgare and M. mammosa was found to be resistant against S. mutans bacteria. The ethanol extract of F. vulgare was more potent against gram-positive bacteria and the essential oil was only effective against fungi. On the other hand, the ethanol extract of M. mammosa and the combination of their ethanol extracts showed no significant activity against bacteria and fungi. The combination of water extracts is most effective against 2 microbes, namely S. epidermis and E. faecalis with MIC 7.81 and 3.91 mgmL-1. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Currently, Malaysia and Indonesia are the biggest palm oil producer in the world. However, the oil extraction rate (OER) for palm oil mills in both countries is below the potential yield of palm oil fresh fruit bunch. The OER for palm oil mills in Malaysia is less than 21% for almost 40 years. Increment of the OER by 1% may contribute significantly to the world palm oil industries. In this study, a simple dry method was employed to increase the OER of the palm oil. The fresh fruit bunch (FFB) of palm oil tree was dried for 24 hours. The dried palm fruit was detached and the mesocarp was separated from the kernel using a knife. The oil from the sliced mesocarp was extracted using bench top screw press. The CPO obtained, later was characterized for free fatty acid content (FFA), moisture content, carotene and deterioration of bleach ability index (DOBI) number. The single FFB OER calculated in this study was 23.1%. All but the DOBI index were within the standard criteria of the CPO. In conclusion, this study showed that this dry method was able to increase the OER for palm oil mills. Furthermore, since steam was not in used, this method may reduce the carbon footprint and pollutant from palm oil industries in the future. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aims to analyze the effect of corporate governance, share ownership, management compensation, and the Covid-19 pandemic on tax avoidance in mining companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the period 2018-2023. Corporate governance is measured by the number of independent commissioners and audit committees, while share ownership includes institutional and managerial ownership. This study uses 20 companies as samples with a total of 120 data observations using the purposive sampling method. The research data were analyzed using panel data regression using EViews12 software. The number of independent commissioners and institutional ownership contribute to a decrease in tax avoidance by increasing supervision and compliance. Conversely, the number of audit committees and management compensation are positively related to tax avoidance, indicating weaknesses in the effectiveness of supervision and compensation incentives that encourage tax avoidance. Managerial ownership has a negative but insignificant effect on tax avoidance. The Covid-19 pandemic shows a positive but insignificant effect, with government policies and corporate governance helping to limit its impact. Overall, the low tax ratio in the mining sector could be related to a combination of these factors, including weaknesses in corporate governance, audit committee effectiveness, institutional ownership, and inadequate compensation incentives. This study also found that the low tax ratio in the mining sector is closely related to tax avoidance practices carried out by companies. The implications of this study are the importance of increasing supervision of corporate governance, especially in terms of the effectiveness of independent commissioners and audit committees, as well as transparency in share ownership and management compensation. Government policies and related authorities need to be strengthened to minimize tax avoidance practices, in order to increase state tax revenues from the mining sector. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aims to examine the use of the appraisal system, especially the attitude subsystem, and the judgement of appraisal in the political campaign slogans of legislative candidates in Tuban Regency. There have been many studies on political campaign slogans, but similar studies using appraisal theory have not been found. In fact, appraisal system analysis can help text readers understand the attitudes and judgments of text creators towards the things they communicate. The data in this study were analyzed using appraisal system theory. The data were obtained through the listening method and analyzed using the referential pairing method. The results show that judgment is the most widely used attitude subcategory in slogans. This shows that the advertisement creators emphasize judgment on human behavior, both towards themselves and others (society). Meanwhile, the most dominant subject and object of judgment is the legislative candidates themselves as slogan creators. This finding shows that legislative candidates in Tuban Regency tend to make subjective claims about their own qualities without quoting or displaying opinions from other parties in their political advertisements. The tsunami disaster in Palu, Indonesia, on September 28, 2018, caused many casualties and damage along Palu Bay, Indonesia. Prior to the tsunami, an earthquake was recorded 25 km northeast of Donggala. The analysis suggests that the tsunami was triggered by a landslide beneath the waters of Palu Bay. The investigation then focused on the earthquake’s impact on the tsunami. This study conducts simulations to discern the dominant causes of tsunamis, comparing the effects of landslides with earthquakes. Three distinct tsunami sources were identified: earthquake-only (T-E), earthquake and submarine landslide (T-EL), and submarine landslide-only (TL). Interpretation of tsunami source parameters for underwater landslides is carried out accurately. A nesting grid numerical method was employed to increase resolution and accuracy in the simulations. This study accurately interprets tsunami source parameters using data from the Bathymetry National Data-Geospatial Information Agency (185 m resolution) and the field survey data from Baruna Jaya IV-BPPT Research Vessel Indonesia (25 m resolution), thereby contributing to the creation of a tsunami inundation model map. This map serves to inform preparedness efforts and guide recommendations for infrastructure development in the Palu Bay area. The tsunami inundation model map is verified with field data and estimated using tide gauge monitoring data. The characteristics of the tsunami waves on September 28, 2018, reflect a T-EL-type tsunami source, while the T-L type source produces tsunami waves with longer periods compared to earthquake-generated tsunamis (T-EL). The T-E type, located on land, had minimal influence in causing the tsunami, despite the destructive potential of the shallow-depth M7.5 earthquake. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose. This study aims to enhance the optimization approach by integrating stability analysis using Mathews Stability Graph into stope mining-level optimization algorithm. Methods. The programming language is employed to integrate the Mathews Stability Graph into the stope mining-level optimization algorithm at the preliminary optimization stage, providing dimensional constraints based on rock conditions. Algorithm validation is conducted using three scenarios reflecting rock conditions in the block model: fixed stope dimensions with a maxi-mum stope size, fixed stope dimensions with a minimum stope size, and variable stope dimensions based on the proposed algorithm. Additionally, to validate the stability of the stope in the optimization algorithm, the stability of each stope wall is confirmed by back plotting on a stability graph. Findings. The algorithm manages to create a stope design that complies both with geotechnical and economic aspects, based on the data provided in the synthetic block model. Originality. Optimal stope design is often determined by the stope’s economic parameter, whereas geotechnical variables, easily available in the block model, are neglected. The proposed algorithm aims to include stability analysis using the Mathews Stability Graph into the stope mining-level optimization algorithm. Practical implications. The method was successfully tested using data from a block model simulating the conditions of a real ore body in Indonesia. In addition, the method may be used by mine planners during the early stage of feasibility assessment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ENVIRONMENTAL impact analysis ,SOLAR dryers ,FOOD preservation ,CLEAN energy ,SOLAR technology - Abstract
The world's population is projected to increase, impacting a 60% rise in food production demand by 2050, including the demand for maize. Currently, maize production is estimated to reach 1510 million tons in 2023, necessitating suitable methods for preserving maize kernels to maintain quality and reduce post‐harvest agricultural losses. Although drying methods present a viable solution to address this issue, the majority of farmers in Indonesia still use conventional drying methods, such as open sun drying, which has several drawbacks. Hence, solar drying systems aim to overcome these limitations by harnessing renewable, clean, sustainable, and eco‐friendly energy to support the sustainable development goals (SDGs). This research comprehensively reviews the progress of solar drying technology, providing insights into its working principles, innovative designs, and operational modes across various types of solar dryers. The 4E + Q analysis provides information regarding the performance of solar drying systems, including energy analysis to determine the quantity of energy utilized and exergy analysis to demonstrate irreversibility in thermodynamic processes. Additionally, this analysis highlights environmental impacts such as CO2 emissions and mitigation efforts, while considering economic aspects through lifecycle assessment and payback period methods. The quality assessment of dried maize kernels according to the standards set by the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) is conducted, including proximate analysis, aflatoxin levels, color measurements, and internal cracking analysis. Practical applications: Drying technology is essential for the food preservation process, enabling the maintenance of product quality and extending storage life by reducing the moisture content to eliminate the activities of microbial agents. The application of solar drying technology harnesses solar radiation as the primary energy source, making it well‐suited for crops like paddy, maize, cassava, etc. The development of solar dryers continues through modifications and the addition of auxiliary systems to achieve more efficient, economical, and sustainable technologies. The hope is that in the future, these technologies can be adopted by farmers on an industrial scale due to low operational costs, ease of operation, and controllable operating conditions. The methodological approach is necessary to evaluate the performance of solar dryers and the quality of dried products through a 4E + Q analysis, it provides information on energy consumption, exergy flow, economic considerations, environmental aspects, and quality assessments against national quality standards (SNI). AGRICULTURE ,BIOMASS ,PLANT stems ,SUSTAINABILITY ,BACILLUS subtilis ,AMINO acids ,LIGNOCELLULOSE - Abstract
Agricultural plantations in Indonesia and Malaysia yield substantial waste, necessitating proper disposal to address environmental concerns. Yet, these wastes, rich in starch and lignocellulosic content, offer an opportunity for value-added product development, particularly amino acid production. Traditional methods often rely on costly commercial enzymes to convert biomass into fermentable sugars for amino acid production. An alternative, consolidated bioprocessing, enables the direct conversion of agricultural biomass into amino acids using selected microorganisms. This review provides a comprehensive assessment of the potential of agricultural biomass in Indonesia and Malaysia for amino acid production through consolidated bioprocessing. It explores suitable microorganisms and presents a case study on using Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6051 to produce 9.56 mg/mL of amino acids directly from pineapple plant stems. These findings contribute to the advancement of sustainable amino acid production methods using agricultural biomass especially in Indonesia and Malaysia through consolidated bioprocessing, reducing waste and enhancing environmental sustainability. Traces of past landslides were found on the seabed of Palabuhanratu Bay, West Java. This landslide is thought to have generated a tsunami, but has never been investigated before. This bay is located around the western part of the Cimandiri Fault which is an active horizontal fault with a length of 100 km. Therefore, it is necessary to study the potential impact of a tsunami in the Palabuhanratu Bay area caused by a combination of local earthquakes and underwater landslides around the bay. Evidence of past landslides was revealed through side-scan sonar data from the underwater research vessel Baruna Jaya IV in Palabuhanratu Bay, Indonesia, in 2020. The data from this survey provides evidence of debris flows (historical landslide data) at the survey site. We simulated 29 tsunami scenarios from combined landslide earthquake sources by solving shallow water nonlinear equations numerically. Tsunami sources from earthquakes are classified into three types, e.g., land faults, sea faults, and combinations of land and sea faults. While the source of the tsunami from the landslide is divided by volume. Combination of the earthquake magnitudes range from M6.80 to M7.85, and the landslide volume ranged from 3.06 × 10
5 m3 to 2.5 × 108 m3 . This study concludes that in our scenario, the M8.12 type T7 earthquake generates the largest tsunami in the study area, followed by the T6L5 scenario with M7.85 from the Cimandiri Fault and landslide with a total volume of 2.5 × 108 m3 . [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

GREEN fuels ,GEOTHERMAL power plants ,GEOTHERMAL brines ,GEOTHERMAL resources ,COMBINED cycle (Engines) ,SULFUR cycle - Abstract
Renewable energy is an energy source that is naturally inexhaustible and continuously replenished. One of renewable energy sources is geothermal energy. As a country located in the ring of fire, Indonesia has abundant geothermal energy potential of 29 GW, which accounts up to 40% of world's geothermal potential. Geothermal energy can help Indonesia to reach national target to reach 23% energy mix from renewable energy by 2025. However, geothermal energy potential utilization in Indonesia is still limited, with only 2130.7 MW installed electric capacity as of 2021. Furthermore, hydrogen energy is a new energy source which is a potential future main energy source. Hydrogen can be produced via electrolysis by splitting water molecule into hydrogen and oxygen using electrical energy. If the electrical energy is generated from renewable energy sources, the produced hydrogen is called as "green hydrogen". Ulubelu geothermal power plant discharges 772.2 kg/s of separated brine with 175°C temperature and 9 bar pressure, thus has the potential waste energy to be utilized. From those conditions, an innovation is proposed to utilize the separated brine at Ulubelu geothermal power plant for green hydrogen production using an integrated bottoming binary cycle using and electrolysis unit system. The bottoming binary unit uses Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC), which is analyzed using energy analysis using n-pentane, n-butane, and isopentane working fluids. Meanwhile, the electrolysis unit is analyzed using electrochemistry analysis. The result shows that the bottoming ORC is able to generate the highest specific power output of 149.6 kW/kg.s using n-pentane as the working fluid with 26.2% thermal efficiency and net power output of 45,498 kW. The electrical energy produced by the bottoming ORC is used to power an alkaline electrolyzer to produce 20.53 tonne/day of green hydrogen and 162.96 tonne/day of oxygen. Furthermore, the electrolyzer requires 229.35 tonne/day of steam condensate as the water supply. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Condensate is the result of condensation of vapor in the air by the evaporator of the air conditioning (A/C). The production rate of condensate depends on the capacity of the A/C. In addition, the production rate of the condensate is also influenced by the condition of outdoor air. The present study investigates the production rate of condensate produced by A/C in two cities in Indonesia, namely Bandung and Garut. These two cities represent areas with cool and temperate climates. As a result, these two cities have different outdoor air conditions. The investigation was carried out on the split-type A/Cs installed in bedrooms with compressor capacity of 0.5 HP (0.38 kW). Site data collection was carried out for 24 hours, where the amount of condensate, indoor and outdoor air temperatures and relative humidity were recorded for each hour. The results showed that in 24 hours, the A/C in Bandung and Garut produced 18.555 and 20.370 liters of condensate, respectively. A part from that, the condensate rates in Bandung and Garut are equivalent to 773,125 ml/h and 848,750 ml/h, respectively. The correlation between condensate production in Bandung and Garut to the difference outdoor and indoor air temperatures shows a directly proportional relationship. It means that the higher the indoor and outdoor air temperature difference, the higher the condensate generation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study builds on a new COVID-19 model with isolation subpopulations. This model divides the population into five subpopulations: S, E, I, H, and R. The model that has been built is then subjected to dynamic analysis, such as the basic reproduction number, determining the equilibrium point, and analyzing the stability point. From the model, two equilibrium points are obtained: disease-free and endemic. The stability analysis of the equilibrium point for τ =0 is carried out using the Routh-Hurwitz criteria on the eigenvalues of the system that has been linearized. Meanwhile, for τ >0 is done by checking the existence of the eigenvalues with the zero-valued real part of the characteristic equation. The results of the analysis show that the basic reproduction number, R0, determines the stability of each equilibrium point. The existence of a time delay affects the type of stability and convergence of the equilibrium point. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Millions of Indonesian migrant workers have sought employment in Malaysia during the last three decades. Many of them are skilled and unskilled laborers, and their incorporation into the host society's labor market has the potential to improve their own quality of life while also contributing significantly to the country's economy. However, Indonesian migrant workers encounter numerous problems in their professional and personal lives. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the intercultural communicative competence (ICC) factors as one of the Indonesian migrant workers' strategies. This is qualitative exploratory research on the factors of ICC in the integration of Indonesian migrant workers into the Malaysian labor market. Focus groups were used to obtain data from 16 Indonesian migrant workers who had already successfully integrated into the Malaysian workforce as well as newcomers who were in the process of integrating into the local culture. In addition, interviews have been conducted with the 13 employers to complement the data from the migrant workers. The data was analyzed using rounds of deductive and inductive coding and analysis based on the five components of Byram's model. The findings suggest that practicing intercultural communication skills can help migrant employees overcome cultural difficulties in the Malaysian labor market. The Indonesian migrant workers and their employers also indicated that they have an advantage in cultural integration due to the cultural similarities. The paper discusses the implications of the findings in terms of ICC training offered to migrant workers themselves (culture and language) and to professionals who work with them, with the goal of facilitating and promoting Indonesian migrant workers' labor market integration. The COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has had significant repercussions for early childhood education. In this article, we begin by discussing the impact of a world health pandemic on education and the challenges of conducting a literature review following the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, we examine the challenges of conducting a literature review on building resilience in young children in the digital era. The four sections categorize the resilience literature into the following themes: (1) defining resilience in young children, (2) powerful play for resilience in young children beyond the COVID-19 pandemic, (3) creative play building resilience in young children, and (4) digital puzzles for resilience: the case of early childhood classrooms in Indonesia. Each of the four themes is presented with a narrative whose content is current, followed by a literary consensus. The article ends with changes to build resilience in young children using creative play through digital puzzles. Digital puzzles as media for creative play support young children in developing skills that will make them happier and more resilient in overcoming daily hardships. Young children can become individuals who successfully face daily hardships creatively to reconstruct themselves after experiencing bad conditions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aims to investigate the connection between knowledge conversion abilities and innovative work behavior among academic librarians. It was undertaken due to the scarcity of information on the knowledge conversion capabilities of academic librarians and their association with innovative work behavior. This study conducted quantitative research using a survey questionnaire to collect data from 320 academic librarians working in public and private universities in Indonesia. The study found that academic librarians reported engaging in all four knowledge conversion processes, with combination being the most frequently used, followed by externalization and internalization. Additionally, academic librarians reported being engaged in both types of innovation, but more involved in service innovation than process innovation. The study found that externalization, combination, and internalization were positively related to innovative work behavior, but socialization was not significantly related. The study emphasizes the need for infrastructure and competencies support for librarians to foster knowledge conversion and access to knowledge management tools. A conducive work environment is essential for innovation in academic libraries, and relevant authorities need to provide adequate support. Moreover, this research enhances our understanding of the role of knowledge conversion abilities and innovative work behavior in the context of Indonesian academic libraries. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

GOLD nanoparticles ,SYNECHOCOCCUS ,SURFACE plasmon resonance ,MICROALGAE ,ESCHERICHIA coli ,DUNALIELLA - Abstract
Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) synthesized through green synthesis have the potential for application in various biomedical sectors. This study demonstrates the optimization, synthesis, and characterization of AuNPs using marine microalga, Synechococcus moorigangae strain InaCC M208, isolated from Jakarta Bay, Indonesia. Optimization of the synthesis process focused on three parameters: temperature, ratio of precursor-to-extract, and incubation time. The AuNPs were characterized using various techniques, including UV–Vis spectroscopy, TEM, XRD, FT-IR, PSA, and EDX spectroscopy. The ethanol extract of S. moorigangae InaCC M208 was responsible for the reducing and stabilizing agent during the AuNPs synthesis. The optimized conditions for synthesis were found to be a precursor-to-extract ratio of 1:1 at 37 °C for 22 h. The UV–Vis spectra of the synthesized AuNPs (Syn-AuNPs) exhibited a surface plasmon resonance at 552 nm. According to FT-IR, various phytoconstituents from the extract contributed to the reduction and stabilization of Syn-AuNPs. Syn-AuNPs exhibited a spherical form with an average size of 8.2 nm and a zeta potential of − 21.5 mV. Notably, these Syn-AuNPs exhibited antibacterial efficacy against the pathogenic Staphylococcus aureus InaCCB4, Escherichia coli InaCC B5, Klebsiella pneumoniae 1617, Pseudomonas aeruginosa N90PS, and E. coli 8654. Additionally, Syn-AuNPs also demonstrated antioxidant capacities against DPPH radicals. It is possible to readily scale up this environmentally friendly synthesis technique for future studies, and AuNPs produced through microalgae-mediated green synthesis have substantial promise for nanomedicine applications. Rainfall data is pivotal for hydrological studies, water resource management, and climate analysis. However, regions like Indonesia face challenges due to uneven rainfall station distribution. This study explores the potential of Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) 3B42RT Daily V7 satellite data for rainfall estimation in such areas, focusing on the Brantas sub-watersheds: Kedak, Ngampel, and Kresek. Multiple TRMM scenarios are assessed for reliability and accuracy against ground-based rainfall station data. In monthly rainfall analysis, TRMM exhibits stronger correlations with average ground station data (coefficients of determination ranging from 0.62 to 0.74 for individual stations and 0.76 to 0.79 for averages) with an average PBIAS of 35.07%. The TRMM data exhibited weak performance on daily rainfall records, as evidenced by the low coefficient of determination (R²) values ranging from 0.04 to 0.21. TRMM proves sufficiently reliable for areas with limited rainfall records, particularly for cumulative monthly rainfall assessment. A comparative analysis of rainfall values for different return periods reveals that TRMM tends to provide lower values compared to single-station ground-based estimates. However, nearly similar values were obtained for area-averaged ground-based stations. Combining area-averaged TRMM data with cumulative ground-based rainfall data reduces variability in values for diverse return periods (3-8%), enhancing data accuracy. In conclusion, TRMM 3B42RT Daily V7 data integration enhances rainfall estimation accuracy in regions with limited data availability. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SUPPORT vector machines ,SENTIMENT analysis - Abstract
The objective of this research is to classify public comments on YouTube related to disaster preparedness simulations through sentiment analysis. The research process included data collection, labeling, pre-processing, and classification. Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Naïve Bayes algorithms were used for classification. Following manual labeling of 204 datasets, the breakdown of sentiment was as follows: 112 positive, 43 negative, and 49 neutral. The evaluation involved two scenarios: performance testing and sensitivity testing. Performance testing, conducted on pre-processed datasets, revealed that Naïve Bayes Classifier (NBC) achieved an accuracy rate of 80.4%, with the best execution time of 0.0097 seconds. In contrast, the Support Vector Machine (SVM) achieved the highest accuracy rate of 72.3%, albeit with a longer worst-case execution time of 193.48 seconds. Furthermore, in the results of sensitivity measurements using the dataset without going through the preprocessing stages, each method was able to show the best results with a value of 100%. UNITED Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (1982) ,MARITIME boundaries - Abstract
A unilateral claim from China is in the form of dots or 9 dotted 'Nine-dash line' which forms the letter 'U' intersects with Indonesia Exclusive Economic Zone. Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs of Indonesia, has issued the latest 2017 Map of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. The 2017 NKRI Map is the proposed naming of the sea space, which was previously known as part of the South China Sea (SCS), to the North Natuna Sea. Therefore, this study aims to: (1) analyse how the legality of the sovereign rights of the Republic of Indonesia in the North Natuna Sea-based United Nations Convention on the law the Sea 1982; and (2) analyse how the Indonesian government responds in the North Natuna Sea. This research uses normative research methods. The results show that based on UNCLOS 1982, Indonesia has the legality to exercise sovereign rights in the North Natuna Sea. The Republic of Indonesia confirms that there is no dispute with China in the North Natuna Sea because China's claims are not legal or not based on United Nations Convention on the law the Sea 1982.
