BUSINESS success - Abstract
The article looks at the success of Chicago, Illinois-based Groupon which is known as the fastest growing company in U.S. history, built on coupons for leg waxing and go-kart rides. According to Rich LeFurgy, founder of Silicon Valley advisory firm Archer, Groupon was looked at as a low-margin, not-scalable model that was taking the printed entertainment books and putting them online. The company was founded by Northwestern music major, Andrew Mason. In 2010, Google made a 6 billion U.S. dollar offer to purchase Groupon.
