Public libraries play an increasingly vital role as a public hub and safe haven open to all, with innovative programming and services that increase literacy, access to resources, and capacity-building. This field note describes the implementation of a federally funded academic--community partnership integrating a trauma-informed care framework and social work field placements into a public library to address the needs of vulnerable patrons in accessing community resources. It describes the process of developing this pilot program, including placing MSW student interns, assessment, implementation, training, and community integration of services. It concludes by discussing implications, strategies and lessons learned from this innovative pilot project with attention to navigating the challenges of adapting services and field placements during a global pandemic.

Community visioning is based upon principles that maximize group participation in a creative problem-solving process. The process itself is structured to solicit and use the full range of interests and expertise within a given community to develop an implementation plan that specifically addresses the needs of the community and that fosters change with real benefits for residents. The plan and its associated strategies for change can be broadly embraced by the community because residents shared in its development. In this case study, the Fanning Institute at the University of Georgia designed and implemented a customized community visioning process for the city of Barnesville, Georgia, that provided a structured mechanism for the community to assess where they are, to determine where they want to go, and to plan for how they are going to get there. Over the last decades of the 20th century, and the first few years of the 21st, the conflict within the life of the Baptist church has often focused on control of Baptist-affiliated institutions of higher education. During this time, two such institutions in Georgia, Mercer University and Shorter College, were engaged in a struggle for power with the Georgia Baptist Convention, and often provided focal points for doctrinal disputes within the Baptist church as a whole. In this paper, the authors describe the development of the recent conflict between the Georgia Baptist Convention and the aforementioned institutions, provide historical background on intellectual life in the Baptist church generally, and provide a description of the legal issues that controlled the outcomes of the controversy concerning the two universities.

This article describes a chemometrics module that has been developed for senior-level students taking instrumental analysis chemistry at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Georgia. The module has been engineered for a wide spectrum of the student body. Abstract concepts have been simplified by use of illustrative examples and graphics, while demonstrating the capabilities of chemometrics. The initial activities are spread over the first four weeks of the semester, followed by further applications during the rest of the semester. The module is totally integrated with the instrumental analysis topics offered, namely, spectroscopy, separation science and electroanalysis.
