Schools are ideal settings to promote adolescent physical activity (PA), yet school-based interventions have shown limited long-term impact. This position paper presents key issues surrounding school-based PA interventions. Collaborative conceptual thinking drawing on multi-author expertise and available evidence advanced our understanding and opinion. Key arguments: 1) the adoption of a systems approach, which maximizes partnership action and leverages policy, is crucial for understanding the complexities of implementing whole-school programs; 2) a reorientation to an assets perspective optimizes existing strengths and resources allowing greater emphasis on the full range of physical, cognitive, emotional and social benefits that PA provides, and 3) a move beyond traditional positivist research designs to advance our knowledge of what works better, for whom and in what context is needed for greater progress We provide suggestions, specifically advocating for systems approaches, as a realistic way to improve how we support PA in schools in the future.

This paper addresses the interaction between European Union policies and national higher education sectors in the countries involved in the TRUE project (England, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal and Switzerland) making the case for European governance. Relevant for this matter is the role of political processes that evolve at European level shaping political discourses and practices, thus creating a common grammar for European higher education governance. By empirically focusing on evaluation and funding policies the paper argues that European governance reflects in how this common grammar is being created and reconfiguring the environment within which European higher education systems and institutions are developing.

This article focuses on the interaction between the European dimension driven by the creation of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and the development of national reforms to fulfil that objective. On the basis of data gathered in eight countries involved in EuroHESC project TRUE (Transforming European Universities), the curricular and the governance reforms are examined in order to identify the tension between the European dimension and the implementation of reforms in national contexts. European higher education policies take the momentum of the implementation of the Bologna Process at national level and European Union (EU) governance brings to the forefront the need for political coordination.

For over a century, historians and literary critics appear to have been at odds regarding the poetry of the First World War. This schism owes itself to processes of canonization which restrict (in Britain) or completely ignore (in France) the full extent and diversity of wartime poetic practices. Investigating a new corpus of French poets of the First World War, and considering poetry as a social and cultural category and as a wartime practice whose functions go beyond literary value, this article argues that war poets can be read as ethnographers of wartime culture. In proposing this analogy, it aims to present the ethnographic conventions as a common ground where History and Poetics can establish a dialogue. For scholars aiming to investigate how cultural production shapes experiences of armed conflict, this ensures poets are seen as the producers of interpretive knowledge of war and poems as more than either transparent documents or hermetic lyrical creations. This paper examines how servant leadership influences an organisation's readiness for strategic value co-creation through service climate, innovation climate, locus of control and self-efficacy. A model that draws on servant leadership and social cognitive theories is tested by surveying 222 hospitality and tourism business managers operating in France and the UK, and the data is analysed with structural equation modelling and ordinary least squares. The study contributes to personality research showing that servant leadership practices influence a manager's internal locus of control and self-efficacy. We demonstrate that service climate and innovation climate mediate between servant leadership and readiness for strategic value co-creation, and moderate between a manager's beliefs and the firm's readiness for strategic value co-creation. The findings show that servant leadership has a stronger effect on innovation climate than on service climate, and that innovation climate has more influence on readiness for strategic value co-creation than on service climate. • Servant leadership improves an organisation's value co-creation. • The practice of servant leadership influences manager's beliefs. • Value co-creation fuel more via innovation than customer service. • Environment moderate the relations between manager's beliefs and behaviour. During a decade (1996–2006), ecotoxicological studies were carried out in biota of the Vaccarès Lagoon (Biosphere Reserve in Rhone Delta, France). A multicontamination was shown at all levels of the trophic web due to a direct bioconcentration of chemical from the medium combined with a food transfer. Here, the pollutants investigated were organochlorines, among which many compounds banned or in the course of prohibition (or restriction) (PCB, lindane, pp′-DDE, dieldrin, aldrin, heptachlor, endosulfan…) and some substances likely still used in the Rhone River basin (diuron, fipronil). The results confirmed the ubiquity of contamination. It proves to be chronic, variable and tends to regress; however contamination levels depend on the trophic compartment. A biomagnification process was showed. A comparison of investigation methods used in other Mediterranean wetlands provides basis of discussion, and demonstrates the urgent need of modelling to assess the ecotoxicological risk in order to improve the management of such protected areas. Introduction: L’HAS recommande un dépistage régulier des complications du diabète. D’après l’enquête ENTRED 2007, seuls 28% des patients ont bénéficié du dosage de la microalbuminurie, 50% d’une consultation ophtalmologique, 61% d’une gradation podologique. Matériels et méthodes: Dans le cadre du programme DIABSAT, un véhicule muni d’une antenne satellite et équipé d’un rétinographe non mydriatique, d’un appareil de mesure de la microalbuminurie, d’un monofilament, d’un stétho-doppler, d’un enregistreur des pressions plantaires a sillonné trois départements de la région Midi-Pyrénées. Une infirmière a réalisé auprès des diabétiques n’ayant pas un suivi régulier les examens. Ces données transmises par satellite sont interprétées à distance par des ophtalmologistes, diabétologues et pédicure-podologues référents et les comptes-rendus sont envoyés par courrier aux patients, à leurs médecins traitants et diabétologues. Résultats: En moyenne, 5 (+/– 3) patients sont dépistés par journée. L’âge moyen des patients est de 70 ans (+/– 10). 59.2% sont des hommes. 95.6% ont un DT2 avec une ancienneté moyenne de 10,9 ans (+/– 9.7). 100% des patients sont suivis par leur médecin généraliste, 22.2% par un diabétologue. La mesure des IPS a été réalisée chez 92.1% des patients (15.7% pathologiques); le dépistage de la neuropathie des membres inférieurs chez 95.2% des patients (15.3% pathologiques); l’enregistrement des pressions plantaires chez 92.3% des patients. 16.5% des personnes dépistées peuvent bénéficier d’un remboursement des soins podologiques (10,6% : grade 2; 5.9% : grade 3). La microalbuminurie a été réalisée sur 61.3% des patients (25.3% pathologiques) et la rétinographie chez 50,1% des patients (18.4% de rétinopathies diabétiques, 26.9% de maculopathies ou autres anomalies). Conclusion: Ces résultats montrent qu’il existe un réel besoin de dépistage dans des zones isolées pour améliorer le suivi du diabète selon les recommandations de l’HAS, optimiser l’action des réseaux de soins et tenter de réduire le nombre de déplacements onéreux.
