An essay is presented on the beginning of dance to be figured as female emancipation in key works of recent scholarship in Bloomsbury in London, England. It offers that dance was claimed by the interwar British intellectuals as attentive to social dancing. The author considers that a close reading of dance scenes ends with a demonstration of the ubiquity and powerful resonance of social dancing in key works of the modernist literary imagination.
