This article is concerned with unraveling the meanings about motherhood and parenting in Colombia, of mothers and health professionals participating in Facebook and WhatsApp groups, regarding empowerment and the implications of this concept in the experiences of motherhood, in perspective of women's autonomy. In addition, it problematizes the misrepresentations in some empowerment approaches that, paradoxically, mask mothers' dependence. Finally, it discusses the real possibilities, as well as the obstacles that could constitute the interactions in virtual social networks on motherhood and parenting in the construction of autonomy of its participants. Objective-- Acceptable levels are between 45 and 65 dB according to the OMS, exceeding these values can affect mental and physiological health, deteriorating the quality of life of the inhabitants. The purpose of this research is to identify the levels of noise pollution in the historic center of the city of Popayán, Cauca, Colombia, during peak hours of midday. Methodology-- Applying the Design Thinking methodology, a prototype based on the Internet of Things (IoT) and a mobile application were designed to monitor the acoustic level in real time, and thus offer a technological tool that contributes to the empowerment of society in relation to its environmental conditions. Results-- The software solution was developed for Android mobile devices, in operating system versions higher than 6.0 (Marshmallow), using tools such as Android Studio and Firebase. As a perspective of this work, it is suggested to make measurements for longer periods of time, and in several places in the city. Conclusions-- Real-time measurements of the level of noise pollution, for example, through the application and measurements made during 9:11 a.m. and 6:31 p.m., on February 11, 2022, it was possible to deduce that the average level of noise pollution was 61.48 dB and that, in the measurements made in the morning, they were the ones with the highest levels of pollution., being the data of 11:01 a.m. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Grit is a construct that can predict performance in different domains. This research aims to provide evidence about the validity of the Grit-S Scale through a factorial structure confirmatory analysis and a convergence study with the Scale to Measure Personal Agency and Empowerment. Method: Firstly, university students from virtual learning programs (n = 313) answered the Grit-S Scale, and a confirmatory analysis was performed. Afterwards, the Scale to measure personal agency and empowerment was used to evaluate the convergence validity of the Grit-S Scale. Results: Findings confirm that the Grit-S scale has a bifactorial structure. On the other hand, the ESAGE Scale was adapted using an Exploratory Factorial Analysis, with four factors that explain 44.6% of the variance. Correlations between Grit-S subdimensions and the ESAGE Scale are positive and statistically significant. Conclusions: The Grit-S scale accurately measures Grit. Besides, it is possible to confirm the relationship between Grit and personality traits considering its convergence with the agency dimension in the Scale to measure personal agency and the low relationship with the social empowerment dimension. This paper explores the different dimensions of women's empowerment that can arise during the entrepreneurial process. It considers the changes in these dimensions as women advance in the development of their new ventures, differentiating characteristics according to the context (urban or rural). Another contribution refers to which empowerment factors developed by female entrepreneurs are key to reducing poverty. The proposal develops a multiple correspondence analysis and an ordered probit model, with data from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) Colombia. The results make it possible to identify what is needed to strengthen the empowerment of women through entrepreneurship, and the resources available for this. Furthermore, the relationship found between economic empowerment factors and family income provides evidence for the importance of empowerment for poverty reduction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction. The University of La Guajira (UNIGUAJIRA) reports that the university community rarely uses tutoring and video conferencing software, arguing that this institution does not have adequate infrastructure for the use of such technologies, which limits not only lifelong learning And reflective but also the ability to produce computer resources using multimedia material and virtual environments. Objective. This research proposes a set of digital empowerment strategies necessary for university education in this 21st century, aimed at strengthening the integration of the university with key sectors of Colombian society. Materials and methods. Under a research-action methodology, a diagnostic analysis was carried out on accessibility, integration, equity and employment management as dimensions of digital empowerment. Information was collected on the same through a questionnaire applied to a sample of 125 teachers of the University of La Guajira. Results. Teachers reported a very low level in regard to the implementation of the mentioned dimensions. Consequently, a proposal for digital empowerment strategies is developed to try to solve the problem. Conclusions: It is concluded that this proposal is consistent since it combines the programmatic contents with technological aspects that are primordial for the socioeconomic transformation of the country within a globalized world. This article examines aspects of teacher education in Colombia with regard to demands posed by bilingual education and foreign language programmes. There is an initial overview of developments in the Americas, followed by a discussion of research conducted in Colombia in relation to the teaching of language and content area knowledge in a bilingual education context. The results of a recent study carried out on teacher empowerment are presented and there is a fi nal discussion of how far teacher education programmes enable practitioners to cope with tensions in their classroom practice, both in bilingual education and in foreign language settings. El presente artículo explora de manera comparativa arreglos de género dentro de proyectos insurgentes en El Salvador, Colombia y Perú, con un particular interés en la introducción de una feminidad insurgente, "la compañera política", y las posibilidades de agencia que se dan en un contexto de lucha armada. El análisis en el nivel institucional logra discernir dos ámbitos dentro de los regímenes insurgentes que se rigen por arreglos de género distintos: por un lado, el ámbito "funcional para la lucha armada" que tiene una disposición al cambio, y por otro lado, el ámbito en el que se negocian las "relaciones afectivas", tendiente a reinscribir privilegios masculinos. Los hallazgos identificados permiten miradas matizadas sobre contextos de tránsito de la lucha armada al posconflicto y los mecanismos que operan para (re)instalar y perpetuar desigualdades de género. A useful example to analyze the potential and difficulties of victims participation in the development of peace building policies that are efficient is the 1448 Act of 2011 (commonly known in Colombia as “Victims Law"). There is a mechanism involving design complex, besides being costly for the state, has not been used for the promulgation of rules regulating the implementation of the law What happened to the tables? What are the weaknesses of the shareholding system designed by Law 1448 of 2011 and what its potential to become a participatory system that ensures the “empowerment" of the victims? These would be the questions that aspire answer this letter. The article argues that new participation tables, duly empowered, can generate positive transformation processes Colombian society in post-conflict. But it also warns that they may be one more frustration for victims' organizations and the government because deep problems persist in the concept of sharing mechanism designed in the 1448 Act. Thus, the item is inserted into the discussion about the real utility of participation mechanisms for building and repairing care policies and political empowerment of victims' organizations.
