Context: YOLO (You Look Only Once) is an algorithm based on deep neural networks with real-time object detection capabilities. This state-of-the-art technology is widely available, mainly due to its speed and precision. Since its conception, YOLO has been applied to detect and recognize traffic signs, pedestrians, traffic lights, vehicles, and so on. Objective: The goal of this research is to systematically analyze the YOLO object detection algorithm, applied to traffic sign detection and recognition systems, from five relevant aspects of this technology: applications, datasets, metrics, hardware, and challenges. Method: This study performs a systematic literature review (SLR) of studies on traffic sign detection and recognition using YOLO published in the years 2016–2022. Results: The search found 115 primary studies relevant to the goal of this research. After analyzing these investigations, the following relevant results were obtained. The most common applications of YOLO in this field are vehicular security and intelligent and autonomous vehicles. The majority of the sign datasets used to train, test, and validate YOLO-based systems are publicly available, with an emphasis on datasets from Germany and China. It has also been discovered that most works present sophisticated detection, classification, and processing speed metrics for traffic sign detection and recognition systems by using the different versions of YOLO. In addition, the most popular desktop data processing hardwares are Nvidia RTX 2080 and Titan Tesla V100 and, in the case of embedded or mobile GPU platforms, Jetson Xavier NX. Finally, seven relevant challenges that these systems face when operating in real road conditions have been identified. With this in mind, research has been reclassified to address these challenges in each case. Conclusions: This SLR is the most relevant and current work in the field of technology development applied to the detection and recognition of traffic signs using YOLO. As a convenient learning tool in the We Media era, mobile apps have been paid more and more attention by college students because of their accompanying timeliness and practicality. With the increasing number of English learning apps, many such apps provide college students with new ways to obtain learning resources and diversified learning modes. The related research in the field of mobile-assisted language learning at home and abroad has developed over nearly 20 years, basically following the route from theory to application in practice, but there have been few process studies on learners' individual language skill learning behaviors based on mobile platform data. In this study, the time series clustering method was adopted, and the learning behavior of college students in an English vocabulary learning app in China was selected for data mining. Firstly, taking the "single-day memorization amount" as the measurement index, the memorization records of college students in the whole use cycle were extracted and processed into trajectory data, and the KmL algorithm was used to cluster the trajectory of the memorization amount in the time series. According to the intra-class average trajectory, the characteristics of learning behavior changes among the different college students are summarized, and two learning modes are depicted. Secondly, through the experimental analysis, it was found that adopting the English learning model three weeks before an exam can effectively stimulate college students and improve their willingness to learn and continue using the app. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study adopts an ethnographic approach to examine how digital technology used at home ‐ mobile platforms and smart devices ‐ shaped the intimacy of ageing adults (aged 55 to 65) in Beijing. China's fast-ageing population and its ambition to be a high‐tech superpower are some of the conditions that have necessitated the mobilisation of governmental ideas that link population management to technology development. This study built on Ara Wilson's (2016) essay "The Infrastructure of Intimacy" by including critical infrastructure studies to examine how practices of intimacy are translated and operationalised through daily technology use at home. Data analysis was conducted using three frameworks: (1) making intimate: familiarising and reconnecting; (2) materialising intimacy: gifts, bonding, and avoidance; and (3) self‐intimacy (re)structured: choices, self‐love, and empowerment. The ethnographic data unveils the pivotal role of intimacy in the use of technologies and platforms by the ageing informants in managing their relationships between the self and their family and social relations. With its profound functionality in broadening the practices of intimacy, such as strengthening self-worth and self‐realisation, the daily use of digital technology at home also made it easier for the ageing informants in this study to deter, replace, and lessen their need for physical interactions. The findings suggest that normalising older adults' active use of technology at home will further advance the technologisation of Chinese society while enhancing intimacy in the ageing population. BACKGROUND: Along with China entering an aging society, the percentage of people that over 60 will reach 34.9% in 2050, resulted in a significant increase in stroke patients. OBJECTIVE: This paper proposes a rehabilitation robotic walker for walking assistance during the daily life, and a control method for the motor relearning during the gait training. The walker consists of an omni-directional mobile platform (OMP) which ensures the walker can move on the ground, a body weight support system (BWS) which is capable of providing the desired unloading force, and a pelvic assist mechanism (PAM) to provide the user with four degrees of freedom and avoid the rigid impact. The study goal is to gain a better understanding of the assist-as-needed control strategy during the gait training. METHODS: For the man-machine interaction control, the assist-as-needed control strategy is adopted to guide the users' motions and improve the interaction experience. To build the force field in the three-dimensional space, the dynamics of the system is derived to increase the accuracy of force control. RESULTS: The simulation results show that the force field around the motion trajectory was generated in the three-dimensional space. In order to understand the force field, we designed the simulation on sagittal plane and the controller can generate the appropriate force field. The preliminary experiment results were consistent with the simulation results. CONCLUSION: Based on the mathematical simulation and the preliminary test, the results demonstrate that the proposed system can provide the guide force around the target trajectory, the accuracy of force control still remains to be improved. Mobile social platforms have become a valuable information source by which users gain information about the COVID-19 pandemic. However, little is known about whether users have experienced increased daily fatigue as a result of the disruptions caused by pandemic. Drawing on the cognitive activation theory of stress (CATS), this study proposed that two typical characteristics of social media platforms (SMP), information quality and media richness, are associated with event disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic (EDC), and then induce social media fatigue. To address this, this study used the experience sampling method (ESM), collecting 550 matched cases from 110 users of the WeChat application in mainland China over five consecutive days. Through multilevel structural equation modeling (MSEM), this study discovered three main findings: (1) daily information quality is negatively related to event disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic, which in turn decreases daily social media fatigue; (2) daily media richness is positively associated with such event disruptions, which ultimately increases daily social media fatigue; (3) these effects were stronger for users who reported higher (vs. lower) levels of health consciousness. In order to solve the problems existing in the current mobile education system, this paper proposes a method of mobile education system based on genetic algorithm. By analyzing the research status of mobile learning and the theory and application mode of mobile learning, this method explores the combination of mobile learning theory and application mode and China's traditional primary and secondary education mode, then puts forward a mobile teaching model suitable for primary and secondary education, and builds a mobile teaching system on this basis. The results show that, through the analysis, it is found that most of them remain at about 10%. In practice, the occupation is slightly increased only when multiple people teach, but it also belongs to an acceptable normal level, which can meet more complex functions in the future. The function of mobile learning platform needs to be expanded. For example, mobile learning forum can provide learners with a platform for communication, discussion, and sharing learning materials. In recent years, with the development of the mobile Internet, big data, and cloud computing, the mobile medical platforms such as Ding Xiang Yuan aggregating platform ecological resources have played an irreplaceable role in improving efficiency, optimizing resource allocation, and even promoting the transformation and upgrading of the medical industry. Despite all this, most mobile medical platforms in China still face many problems, including the immature business model, the stagnation of the interaction of knowledge and information among platform members, and the weak platform competitiveness. Based on a review of the platform and commercial ecosystems, this paper adopts the evolutionary game method and simulation to analyze the evolutionary stability strategy of operators, partners, and users in the core layer of the platform during preflow and postflow periods of a mobile medical platform, hence, to construct a beneficial dynamic equilibrium model of a platform business ecosystem under the optimal decisions made by all parties involved in the platform: the goal in the early stage (preflow period) is to increase platform user flow. Hence, the knowledge/information sharing of platform users is needed to enhance platform's visibility. While in the late period (postflow period), when the platform user flow reaches a certain scale, platform's goal is to promote revenue, which relies mainly on the pricing strategy. It is critical to promote the stability of the platform and the dynamic balance of interests at the core layer in the pricing process. This paper applies the platform business ecosystem theory and the evolutionary game theory to mobile medical platform development, contributing theoretically and practically in the following: (1) providing a more solid theoretical support for the mobile medical platform research and enriching the theoretical framework of the platform business ecosystem; (2) proposing the dynamic equilibrium model based on the optimal decisions of the platform core layers, which help to reveal the inherent law of the evolution of the mobile medical platform; (3) providing policy suggestions and management implications in constructing an appropriate business ecosystem and achieving sustainable development in mobile medical platforms. Purpose: As social commerce migrates to the mobile platform, mobile social commerce (ms–commerce), an emerging way of conducting social commerce in the mobile environment, is gaining popularity among mobile users. Although impulse buying in social commerce has been the focus of scholars in recent years, individuals' impulse-buying behavior in ms–commerce has not been highlighted and therefore is worth investigating. This study addressed that gap by differentiating and monitoring the impacts that three key targets of social identification in ms–commerce exerted on impulse buying. Furthermore, previous studies had highlighted the importance of culture in impulse buying in other contexts, so the authors examined how the effects of the key identification targets differed across cultures, as a result of cultural diversity among the ms–commerce users. Finally, the authors drew upon the lens of information technology (IT) affordances to explore how different combinations of ms–commerce affordances influenced each target of identification. Design/methodology/approach: This research first applied a qualitative methodology by using semi-structured interviews with 27 ms–commerce users to extract the relevant subdimensions of IT affordances in ms–commerce. Then, the authors tested their hypotheses with survey data collected from the United States and China. Findings: The results clearly illustrate that three key targets of social identification had varying impacts on impulse buying in different cultural dimensions. In addition, nearly all of the proposed IT affordances in ms–commerce aided users in building multiple identifications, to various degrees. Originality/value: This study extends social commerce research by examining the important role that social identification plays in impulse buying in the mobile environment. Moreover, unlike previous studies that mainly had focused on ordinary buying in social commerce across cultures, this study investigated the relative importance of the targets of social identification on impulse buying in different espoused cultural dimensions. Importantly, the authors used a technology affordance lens to also uncover the context-specific stimulators of separate identification targets, thus going beyond the existing body of knowledge that focused on general beliefs. The web dramas produced and consumed in South Korea are a short, serialized form of content produced specifically for mobile viewing platforms. Through discursive analysis, this article examines the positioning of web dramas as a step in the evolution of television and finds that they have been legitimized as a higher-quality form than television drama because of their economic potential. To begin with, web dramas have the potential to generate synergistic economic effects impacting other areas of culture, such as tourism, television, and webtoons. Second, web dramas have been represented as the best strategy for tapping into the vast Chinese market, especially during periods in which strained political relations between Korea and China prevented the export of television dramas. Moreover, web dramas have been optimized for mobile platforms through experimentation with aesthetics and topics in ways that have not been possible for television dramas. The pandemic of COVID-19 witnessed a massive infodemic with the public being bombarded with vast quantities of information. The spreading of neutral and highly accurate reports can guide the public to self-protect and reduce the pandemic. Mis- and dis-information would intrigue panic and high exposure risk to epidemic. Although the infodemic has attracted attentions from the academia, it is still not known to what degree and in which direction the information flows contribute to the COVID-19 pandemic. To fill the gap, we apply network reconstruction techniques to rebuild the hidden multiplex network of information and COVID-19 spreading by which we aim at quantifying the interaction between the propagation of information and the spatial outbreak of COVID-19, and delineate between the positive and negative impact of information on the pandemic. By differentiating the types of media that participated in the information process, we find that in the early stage of COVID-19 pandemic, infodemic does play a critical role to amplify the risk of virus outbreak in China and the risk is even larger for those highly developed regions. Compared to the old-fashion media, the new mobile platforms impose a greater risk to reinforce the positive feedback between infodemic and COVID-19 pandemic. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

aimed to prospectively evaluate the visit adherence in mild to moderate psoriasis patients. Methods: Plaque psoriasis patients aged 18 or above who were prescribed with a two-component formula ointment were eligible for the study. The patients were randomly assigned to group A or B, and received management with or without planned patient-doctor communication via a mobile platform. The outpatient visit was scheduled at week 2, 8, 16, 28, 48, and 52. Visit adherence was evaluated as the visit rate of the patients. Results: Two hundred twenty-one patients were included. Generally, the visit adherence dropped over time during follow-up. The visit rates in group A were 5.2– 15.7% through the 52 weeks, and similar rates were found in group B (7.5– 17.0%, vs group A, P > 0.05). A negative binomial regression model showed that older age and higher BSA were correlated with more frequent visits. Conclusion: The visit adherence of mild to moderate psoriasis patients was very low in China. Proactive inquiries of the doctors via the mobile platform failed to improve the visit adherence of the patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Momo is becoming a popular mobile platform in China to date, hook up, and engage in social networking. Based on in-depth interviews with 35 dating app users and a survey of 250 current Momo users, I provide a detailed empirical account of the multiple uses of Momo. Momo users used Momo differently, with systematic gender differences and differences among people of various marital statuses. Furthermore, my informants used the notion of mudixing (purposefulness) to describe the direct, overt relationship-seeking practice prevalent on marriage websites, in matching by parents, and among some Momo users. They strongly objected to mudixing and believed Momo having less mudixing. This anti-mudixing may signal push-back against the increasing neoliberalization of Chinese intimacy that foregrounds material calculation and access to more partners. Nonetheless, Momo operates according to market principles. It is, therefore, hard to discern whether Momo is an alternative to the neoliberalization of intimacy in China. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Connected by platforms and equipped with mobile recording devices, social media users are able to conduct near-constant mutual scrutiny. Such mediated scrutiny sometimes escalates to public denunciations online and even mediated or embodied interventions. A recurring theme of such scrutiny can be observed not only on Chinese social media but also on platforms in Russia and elsewhere, in which hostility is openly expressed towards people with nice cars (i.e. late model, luxury, foreign vehicles). In these cases, nice cars are not merely a fact provided by participants in their denunciations; they also serve as an implication of the privileges the owners might possess. By juxtaposing cases in China against other socio-political contexts, the research intends to achieve a better understanding of how and why nice cars are rendered meaningful by participants via mediated scrutiny on social media in China and beyond. The research collects and analyses relevant social media discourses on platforms including Sina Weibo (China), YouTube (Russia), and Facebook (United Kingdom; Australia; United States). Comparing and contrasting cases in different countries, the research demonstrates various forms of critical and populist sentiments that are shaped by unique socio-cultural and political contexts. Purpose: Technology has dramatically changed the nature of interorganizational relationships and the ways partners interact with each other. In the new platform business model, platform technology usage seems to work as a governance mechanism to regulate operations and manage platform builder–platform participant relationships. To respond to these changes, this study aims to examine how platform technology usage in platform operations influenced the relationship quality between the platform builder and platform participants by promoting perceptions of three types of justice (procedural, distributive and informational). Design/methodology/approach: The authors propose that it is through the perception of three types of justice (procedural, distributive and informational) that platform technology usage exerts its governance effect on the platform relationship. In doing this, the authors seek to answer the following two related research questions in the platform setting: How does platform technology usage drive relationship performance via different types of justice perceptions? Which type of justice affects relationship performance most effectively? Findings: The results from a survey of 384 participant firms from two of the largest digital platforms for mobile/PC application in China reveal that platform technology usage leads to better relationship performance through enhanced perceptions of procedural, distributive, and informational justice. The positive impacts of procedural justice and distributive justice on relationship performance are greater than that of informational justice, while the impacts of procedural justice and distributive justice show no significant differences. In the past decade, an explosion of data has taken place in Chinese cities due to widespread use of mobile Internet devices, Web 2.0 applications, and the development of the “Wired City.” With advances in data storage and high-performance computing, big/open urban data have opened up important avenues for urban studies, planning practice, and commercial consultancy. Urban researchers and planners are eager to make use of these abundant, sophisticated, and dynamic data to deepen their understanding on urban form and functions. However, in practice, access to such urban data is limited in China due to institutional constraints on data distribution and data holders’ hesitation to share data. And this hampers urban analytics. To draw reliable conclusions about the workings of complex urban systems, efficient and effective interoperation of multisource urban datasets is needed. Also, dealing with the heterogeneity between datasets is an equally critical challenge, especially for urban planners and government officers. They would derive value from data analytics, but have little data processing experience. To address these issues, we initiated SinoGrids (Plan Xu Xiake), a crowdsourcing platform that standardizes (or “downscales”) microscale urban data in China to facilitate its sharing and interoperation. To assess the performance evaluation of SinoGrids, we propose field-testing with actual urban data and their potential users. Digital desert, a son project of SinoGrids is also included. A mobile platform of medical and senior care (MPMSC) is a platform that provides users with one-stop medical and senior care services. Although an MPMSC presents users with multiple benefits, there is insufficient understanding of the factors motivating users to adopt such new platforms. Focusing on the characteristics of an MPMSC, this study develops a research model based on the value-based adoption model and uses the partial least squares technique to analyze data collected from a sample of 215 potential users to validate its model. The results reveal that perceived value is a predictor in explaining users' intention to adopt an MPMSC; perceived service usefulness and perceived service complementarity positively impact perceived value; perceived service fee negatively impacts perceived value; legal concerns negatively impact users' adoption intention. • This article explores the effectiveness of distance physical education courses. • 86 students from China, aged 18 to 35, took part in the training course. • Innovative practices led to a decrease in fatigue and increased self-esteem. This article explores the possibilities of mobile web platforms in the development of thinking skills, especially such kinds of thinking as critical, strategic and lateral, in distance physical education courses during COVID-19 constraints. The research was carried out within the framework of the distance online course "Self-management and physical education" on the SkillShare platform. 86 students from China, aged 18 to 35, took part in the training course. The research participants identified the advantages of fitness applications in the structure of the training course. The results of the analysis demonstrated the effectiveness of technological solutions in the development of critical, strategic and lateral thinking skills in context of the structure of educational practices in particular for the improvement of self-management skills, such as leadership, personal efficiency, self-control, self-motivation, self-esteem. 87% of study participants confirmed that innovative teaching practices, used in a course, improved different kinds of thinking skills (critical, strategic and lateral), health indicators, overall well-being, and attractiveness; contributed to the formation of correct eating habits; led to a decrease in fatigue; increased self-esteem. The internet is becoming a major source of everyday information, yet existing research often focuses on specific information seeking contexts such as health, climate change, news, or hobbies. In this paper, we put forward a more holistic theoretical model of information seeking practices in everyday life that combines the social phenomenological perspective of everyday life information seeking practices and the domestication framework. We extend the cultural context to the Global South countries, where there is less research on "mobile first" societies centred on emerging mobile platforms. Based on extensive and mixed-methods fieldwork in rural and industrial China about everyday information seeking practices, the paper goes beyond previous research about digital divides in internet access and internet literacy. Instead, it focuses on divides in everyday information seeking practices. We argue that new divides are emerging between those with more restricted everyday internet uses and those with broader and more diverse ones. We compare everyday information practices and divides in China with those in India and show how a theory of digital divides in everyday information seeking practices can be applied beyond both countries to the Global South. Tourism-driven development in this area, echoing the longing of urban residents for recreational and leisure space, provides an alternative to conventional urbanization approaches. Particularly, in view of heightened conflicts and fierce competitions that often occur in the area, developing the knowledge of the co-visitation network, or how different attractions and villages interact with each other from the visitors' perspective, is key to more informed planning strategies. With the rapid development of online social media platforms and mobile devices, researchers can collect massive real-time data on the basis of online user-generated content. While there are already many attempts on its application on tourism design, few studies to date have explored how peri -urban attractions and villages are organized in same trips. In this paper, we design a new methodology on the basis of social media analytics to construct and map a co-visitation network, and apply NetMiner-enabled social network analysis to explain its structure and nodal functions. The usefulness of this methodology is demonstrated through a detailed case study in Shenzhen, China. Research findings reveal types of existing co-visitation patterns, which help planners predict future trends, design new experiences and take specific measures in line with visitor demands. Studies on gender differences in mobile English learning are in their initial stages. College English IV, designed by a number of professors and engineers in a university in China, serves as a mobile English learning platform. This study aims to determine gender differences in cognitive loads, attitudes, and academic achievements in English language learning assisted with this mobile English learning platform. Through a mixed research design, 79 randomly selected participants join the research, together with interviews and posts to collect qualitative data. Cognitive loads, attitudes, and academic achievements are measured through related scales to collect quantitative data. It is concluded that there are significant gender differences in cognitive loads, attitudes, and academic achievements in English language learning assisted with the mobile learning platform. Future research on gender differences in mobile English learning should also examine relationships between gender differences, learner motivation, achievement goals, and learning outcomes. Background: Renal anemia is one of the most important complications in patients on maintenance hemodialysis (MHD). Telehealth-based dialysis registration systems have the advantage of real-time monitoring and have gradually been applied to the management of chronic diseases.Objective: The objective of our study was to evaluate the impact of a telehealth-based dialysis registration system on patients on MHD in terms of renal anemia control.Methods: The Red China project aimed to develop a dialysis registration system based on the WeChat mobile platform. Demographic and baseline laboratory parameters such as age, gender, primary disease, dialysis age, and baseline creatinine levels were recorded using this system. In addition, the hemoglobin and hematocrit levels were recorded monthly. The platform then generated a hemoglobin and hematocrit statistics report for each hemodialysis center monthly, including the detection rate, target rate, and distribution of hemoglobin and released it to physicians via the WeChat mobile phone app. The physicians were then able to treat the individual's anemia appropriately by changing the doses of erythropoiesis-stimulating agents or iron use on the basis of this report. We analyzed the demographic and baseline laboratory parameters, detection rate, target rate, and average level and distribution of hemoglobin 28 months after the launch of the project.Results: A total of 8392 patients on MHD from 28 hemodialysis centers in Shanghai were enrolled from June 2015 to October 2017. The detection rate of hemoglobin increased from 54.18% to 73.61% (P<.001), the target rate of hemoglobin increased from 47.55% to 56.07% (P<.001), and the mean level of hemoglobin increased from 10.83 (SD 1. 60) g/dL to 11.07 (SD 1.60) g/dL (P<.001). In addition, the proportion of patients with hemoglobin levels ≥11 g/dL but <13 g/dL increased from 40.40% to 47.48%.Conclusions: This telehealth-based dialysis registration system can provide timely reporting of the anemia status in patients on MHD, which may improve the awareness of anemia and the attention to and compliance with anemia monitoring.
