Aim: Most patients with ectopic pregnancies experience a high level of psychological distress for various reasons. The psychological state and needs of patients with recurrent ectopic pregnancies need to be seriously addressed. However, psychological distress in patients with recurrent ectopic pregnancy has not been widely studied. The purpose of this study is to investigate and understand the prevalence and factors influencing psychological distress in patients with recurrent ectopic pregnancies. Design: A cross‐sectional study. Methods: This study follows the STROBE guidelines. The Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10) was utilised to assess the level of psychological stress in patients. The Kruskal–Wallis test or Mann–Whitney U test was used to compare the factors influencing psychological stress in patients with different conditions. Results: A total of 134 patients with recurrent ectopic pregnancies completed the survey, and most patients experienced moderate‐to‐severe psychological distress. The psychological distress experienced by patients with recurrent ectopic pregnancies is complex and dynamic, influenced by various factors. Among them, the main factors affecting the psychological distress of patients were age, education level, number of children, number of abortions, medical insurance and economic pressure (p < 0.05). Conclusion: This study suggests that the psychological distress experienced by patients with recurrent ectopic pregnancies is universal and cannot be ignored. It is necessary to pay attention to the psychological needs of patients with recurrent ectopic pregnancies and carry out scientific and effective psychological care management. Mountainous landscapes affected by strong earthquakes typically exhibit higher landslide susceptibility in post‐seismic periods compared to pre‐seismic conditions. This concept is referred to as the earthquake legacy effect, which needs to be better understood to develop an accurate post‐seismic landslide hazard assessment. The earthquake legacy effect is mainly assessed by monitoring either rapid landslide occurrences or slow‐moving landslides over time. However, landslide inventories provide discrete information both in spatial and temporal domains, whereas monitoring only selected slow‐moving landslides discards the response of hillslopes exposed to a given earthquake. Therefore, to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the concept, this research focuses on post‐seismic hillslope evolution by examining the deformation time series generated from the Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar technique over the area affected by the 2017 Mw 6.4 Nyingchi earthquake, China. We also analyse factors controlling these InSAR‐derived hillslope deformations. Our results show a high coherence between hydrologic conditions (i.e., precipitation and terrestrial water storage) and surface deformation in pre‐ and post‐seismic periods. The earthquake disturbs this strong correlation for a while (~2 years) right after the seismic tremor, and then, a seasonal deformation pattern depending on hydrologic conditions appears again. Our findings show that the average post‐seismic hillslope deformation is still higher than its pre‐seismic counterpart approximately four and a half years after the earthquake. These findings trigger further research questions regarding whether hillslopes could fully recover after a major earthquake or gain a new level of hillslope susceptibility caused by intense ground shaking. The career anchors of information technology personnel (ITP) are critical factors influencing their career satisfaction (CS), and these factors are also influenced by national culture. Although a number of scholars have studied the internal CS of employees, these scholars have not explained how to increase the CS of ITP from both individual and organizational perspectives and to further improve the success rate of IS projects. Thus, this study adopts the goal–achievement gap (discrepancy) theory to explore the gap between the "internal career desires (career wants, CW)" and "external career opportunities (career have, CH)" of ITP in two different cultural societies, namely mainland China and the United Arab Emirates, and whether the gap impacts their CS. The data in this study were collected from the Internet. A survey was posted on Internet discussion forums for full-time ITP participants within organizations in China and the United Arab Emirates; thus, the results of this study are possibly only generalizable to these two countries. Finally, the results of this study provide the following contributions: (1) There are 13 career anchors (technical competence, managerial competence, autonomy, organizational stability, challenge, lifestyle, identity, creativity, variety, service, entrepreneurship, geographic security, and learning motivation) of ITP in China, which can be divided into three categories, and these are totally different from the four categories identified by ITP in the United Arab Emirates. (2) The surface analysis approach (RSA) to test the curvilinear relationship between the CW, CH, and CS of ITP indeed can explain more than the linear SEM (structural equation modeling) test between the CW and CS, CH, and CS separately, both tests are in two different cultural societies, China and the United Arab Emirates. Ectopic pregnancy is a leading cause of death for child-bearing aged women. Most patients with ectopic pregnancy experience suffer psychological distress which seriously affects their physical and mental health. The psychological distress, influencing factors, measurement tools, and nursing interventions in patients with ectopic pregnancy in China are reviewed in this article. The results showed that the main psychological distress of patients with ectopic pregnancy is anxiety, depression, uncertainty sense of disease, and low self-esteem. The main factors affecting the psychological distress of ectopic pregnancy patients included life-threatening disease, different marital status, and reproductive needs. The main intervention methods for psychological distress in pregnant patients included: cognitive behavioral therapy, emotional therapy of traditional Chinese medicine, and family support. The majority of cross-sectional surveys in China focused on psychological conditions of the patients with ectopic pregnancy, and there are very few longitudinal studies. Large-sample, multi-center longitudinal studies should be conducted in the future to monitor the development of ectopic pregnancy. Qualitative research should be conducted on patient experience, to provide guidance and basis for the implementation of targeted nursing interventions and to further explore standardized, continuous, and generalizable psychological care protocols for distress interventions for patients with ectopic pregnancy, thereby minimizing psychological distress such as anxiety, depression, and uncertainty in patients with ectopic pregnancy. Aims: To develop a competency scale for operating room nurses and test its reliability and validity. Background: The existing Chinese Registered Nurse Competency Scale and the core competency scale for operating room nurses developed abroad cannot fully meet the capacity needs of Chinese operating room nurses. Methods: The scale was developed based on the results of qualitative interview and the Delphi method. Ten experts were selected for expert consultation, and 300 operating room nurses were recruited by convenience sampling for a cross‐sectional survey to test the reliability and validity of instrument.The reliability and validity of the scale was assessed based on internal consistency reliability, test–retest reliability and confirmatory factor analysis. Data collection was conducted between March to July, 2015. Results: An initial scale with 42 items was confirmed, and 36 items remained. The internal consistency Cronbach's α was 0.97 for the overall scale and 0.88–0.94 for the subscales. The retest reliability ranged from 0.55–0.96. Five factors were extracted by exploratory factor analysis, and they explained 66% of the total variance. The fitting indices of the confirmatory factor analysis were as follows: χ2/df = 3.47, CFI = 0.83, TLI = 0.81, SRMR = 0.06 and RMSEA = 0.09. Conclusions: The core competency scale for operating room nurses with 5 components and 36 items had acceptable reliability and validity. The scale could continue to be optimized in the future. Backgrounds: Drugs with the ability to displace bilirubin from albumin-binding sites subsequently leading to an increased bilirubin level may cause hyperbilirubinemia in neonates. Ibuprofen is commonly used to treat patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) in neonates, yet the use of ibuprofen has drawn mixed conclusions. We performed a retrospective study to determine how ibuprofen use influences the total serum bilirubin (TSB) level in neonates of differing birth weight (BW). Materials and methods: Neonates (including premature infants) born at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan during January 2004 to July 2020 were entered into this study. We recorded the phototherapy duration, including the initial day and end day, and determined the average influence of one-day phototherapy on TSB level. The highest monitored TSB level post-ibuprofen use minus the one measured prior to ibuprofen use was considered the TSB change following ibuprofen administration in this study, and the above-mentioned influence of daily phototherapy on the TSB level was used to correlate the results. Neonates with any of the following conditions were excluded: those who received ceftriaxone, those with intraventricular hemorrhage, and those infected with TORCH. Results: The average daily influence of phototherapy on the TSB level of neonates was −0.20 (−0.57~0.05) mg/dL, −0.28 (−0.84~0.13) mg/dL, −0.75 (−1.77~0.10) mg/dL, and −1.60 (−2.70~−0.50) mg/dL in neonates with BWs of <1 kg, 1–1.49 kg, 1.5–2.49 kg, and ≥2.5 kg, respectively, indicating that neonates with a BW ≥ 1.5 kg experienced a greater reduction in TSB level following phototherapy as compared with those with a BW < 1.5 kg. The average TSB increase following ibuprofen use in neonates was 3.38 ± 2.77 mg/dL, 2.04 ± 2.53 mg/dL, and 1.34 ± 2.24 mg/dL in neonates with BWs of <1 kg, 1–1.49 kg, and ≥1.5 kg, respectively, i.e., an elevated TSB change with a decreased neonate BW was noted post-ibuprofen use (p = 0.026, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA)). Conclusions: As ibuprofen use is correlated with an apparent increase in TSB level in neonates with a lower BW, especially in those with a BW < 1 kg, iv acetaminophen can be an appropriate alternative to ibuprofen for ELBW neonates for the treatment of PDA if they are experiencing severe unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia. Xinyang Maojian (XYMJ) green tea is one of the top ten teas in China, and the consumers prefer spring tea due to its umami taste and pleasurable aroma. However, the knowledge about temporal variation of the volatile compounds in XYMJ green teas harvested during different seasons is very limited. In the present work, the main non-volatile compounds that endowed the taste and volatile compounds responsible for the aroma in XYMJ green teas harvested during the spring and autumn seasons were determined. The average contents of free amino acids (FAA) were significantly higher and gradually declined in the spring teas, whereas the caffeine was significantly lower and gradually increased in the spring teas. A total of 39 volatile compounds of six chemical classes were detected in XYMJ green teas, and they displayed various change trends during the spring and autumn seasons, among which 15 volatile compounds were identified as the key odorants based on odor activity value (OAV). The highest OAV of 2195.05 was calculated for the violet-like smelling trans-β-ionone followed by decanal, nonanal, dimethyl sulfide, linalool, geraniol and naphthalene. The OAVs of geraniol, (Z)-3-hexenyl hexanoate, heptanal, benzaldehyde and hexanal in XYMJ spring teas were higher than XYMJ autumn teas. The hierarchical clustering analysis indicated that XYMJ green teas were divided into three clusters and the quality of XYMJ green teas changed greatly within spring season. Industrial development and urbanization progress have been rapidly increasing in China, consequently accelerating infrastructure constructions, such as real estates and public facilities. Building construction dust has become one of the main sources of atmospheric particulate matter (PM) pollution in China. In this study, a typical building in Zhengzhou City was taken as an example, wherein the total suspended particle (TSP) and PM10 and PM2.5 indicators in the foundation excavation phase of the building construction were comprehensively monitored. The emission levels of both indicators were analyzed, and the periodic change laws of dust concentration and the correlations among TSP, PM10, and PM2.5 were quantitatively measured. Results indicate that the PM10 and PM2.5 concentrations at the monitoring points in the downwind direction of prevailing wind were higher than those in the upwind direction. TSP, PM10, and PM2.5 concentrations reached the maximum values at 10:00-12:00 in the morning of most days, and the TSP concentration was maintained at 250-500 µg/m³. Moreover, the coefficient of determination between TSP and PM10/PM2.5 was 0.8164/0.8376, signifying favorable correlations. The proposed management and control measures include perfecting the construction dust pollution control and management system, establishing the responsibility management mechanism of construction dust, realizing the comprehensive refined control of construction dust, promoting the innovation of building construction dust control technology, and improving the environmental consciousness for building construction dust control. These findings can serve as references for construction dust source pollutant emission control and as scientific decision-making bases for environmental researchers and managers in this field. Two new steroidal glycosides (named fibrophiopogonins A, B), along with one known glycoside, were isolated from the fibrous roots of Ophiopogon japonicus (Liliaceae). Comprehensive spectroscopic analysis, including 2D NMR spectroscopy, and the results of acid hydrolysis allowed the chemical structure of the compounds to be assigned as 26-[(O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 6)-D-glucopyranosyl)]-barogenin- 3-O-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)]-β-D-glucopyranoside and (25R)-26-[(O- β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→6)-β-D-glucopyranosyl)]- 3β,22α,26- trihydroxyfurost- 5-ene-3-O-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)]-β-D-glucopyranoside. This is the first isolation of a cholestane glycoside with disaccharide moiety from a Ophiopogon species. The cytotoxic activities of 1~3 against A375 and MCF-7 cells are described. Background: Genitourinary embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma is rarely reported in China. This retrospective analysis aimed to characterize the clinicopathologic features and treatment outcomes of genitourinary embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma in a sample of Chinese patients. Methods: Basic demographic and clinical data of 29 patients, who were diagnosed with genitourinary embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma between January 2000 and December 2011, were retrieved and analyzed. Results: In these patients, 25 were males and 4 were females with a median age of 12 years. Paratesticule was the most common lesion site, followed by the prostate, bladder, and vagina. The median tumor size was 5.80 cm. Six patients had clinically positive regional nodes. At the initial diagnosis, patients had a metastatic disease. According to the TNM staging classification for the IRS-IV, phase I lesions were detected in ten cases, phase II lesions in six cases, phase III lesions in four cases, and phase IV lesions in nine cases. The median survival of all patients was 63 (range from 6 to 118) months. The 1-, 3-, and 5-year survival rates for these patients were 93%, 83%, and 52%, respectively. Multivariate analyses demonstrated that staging and anemia were significant predictors of prognosis. Conclusions: Our findings suggest that metastasis predicts a poor prognosis. Chemotherapy played an important role in comprehensive treatment. Palliative and neo-adjuvant chemotherapy could increase median survival time. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Salvia miltiorrhiza (SM, also known as DanShen) is one of the well-known widely-used Chinese herbal medicines in clinical practice. In this study we aimed to demonstrate the pro-angiogenic effects of Salvianolic acids (SAs) to treat illnesses such as ischemic cardiovascular diseases, the main active components of aqueous extract of SM. Materials and methods: To do this, new-born rat spleen mononuclear cells were isolated and endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) were expanded (not more than 24h) SD. Then the pro-angiogenic activities of SAs were evaluated on in vitro cultured EPCs and chick embryo chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) model. And the adherent cells were stained with DiI complexed acetylated low-density lipoprotein (DiI-acLDL) and fluorescein Ulex Europaeus agglutinin-1 (FITC-UEA-1), and then viewed by laser scanning confocal microscope (LSCM) to confirm EPCs lineage. EPCs identification was also tested by ultrastructural analyses. EPCs proliferation, migration and in vitro vasculogenesis activity were assayed with 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay, transwell chamber assay and in vitro vasculogenesis kit, respectively. EPCs adhesion assay was performed by replating those on fibronectin-coated dishes, and then counting adherent cells. Results: EPCs phenotype was confirmed by the presence of double positive cells for DiI-acLDL uptake and lectin binding and identification of Weibel–Palade body in cytoplasm by ultrastructural analyses. Incubation of EPCs with SAs increased the number of EPCs and promoted EPCs migratory, adhesive and in vitro vasculogenesis capacity. SAs also promoted angiogenesis as evidenced by CAM model. Conclusions: The results of the present study suggest that SAs may have utility for therapeutic postnatal vasculogenesis of ischemic tissue, contributing to the clinical benefit of SM therapy in patients with coronary artery disease. To characterize the strains of Anaplasma phagocytophilum in wild and domestic animals in China, we isolated the organism from rodents and sheep in northeastern China. We isolated 3 strains (2 from rodents and 1 from sick sheep) through propagation in BALB/c mice and then cell culture in HL60 cells. The 3 isolates were identified by Wright-Giemsa staining, immunofluorescence, and electronic microscopy and were characterized by sequence analyses of the 16S rRNA gene, partial citrate synthase gene, major surface protein 4 gene, and heat shock protein gene. The multiple sequences of the 3 isolates were identical to each other but different from all known strains from other countries. Objective: To investigate features of crush extremity fractures associated with massive earthquake on digital radiography (DR) and multidetector computed tomography (MDCT).Materials and Methods: Six hundred and twenty-three consecutive patients with clinically confirmed crush extremity fractures arising from the 2008 Sichuan earthquake were enrolled into our study. Six hundred and eleven patients with suggested extremity fractures underwent DR, and 12 patients with possible knee fractures underwent MDCT. Image data were retrospectively reviewed, with the focus on anatomic sites, numbers, and status of the fractures.Results: Extremity fractures occurred in lower extremities in 428 patients, upper extremities in 151, and both lower and upper extremities in 44. Lower extremity fractures were more common than upper extremity fractures (P < 0.05), and the commonly involved bones were the tibia and fibula in 141 patients, femur in 102, tibia in 52, and fibula in 40. According to the numbers of bones involved, multiple bone fractures occurred in 336 patients and included lower extremity fractures in 231, upper extremity fractures in 61, and both lower and upper fractures in 44. Multiple fractures in lower extremities were seen more often than in upper extremities (P < 0.05). As for status of the extremity fractures, comminuted fractures occurred in 324 patients and included lower extremity fractures in 248, upper extremity fractures in 51, and both lower and upper extremity fractures in 25. Comminuted fractures were more common in lower extremities than in upper extremities (P < 0.05).Conclusion: Multiple and comminuted fractures, predominantly in the lower extremities, could be considered as features of crush extremity fractures associated with the massive Sichuan earthquake. Researches on the May Fourth Movement tend to argue that modern Chinese intellectuals embraced the ideas of individual freedom and human rights as a means to solve China's crisis. Many later shifted to communism or other ideologies because of such instrumental attitudes. Based on a study of Chen Duxiu, this paper suggests that such instrumental attitudes were a result of a dilemma. On the one hand, the intellectuals wanted to pursue individual freedom and human rights in order to relieve the individual Chinese from the constraints of tradition, so that China could achieve wealth and power on the basis of a vigorous society. On the other hand, however, beset by the total disintegration of political order, they wanted to quickly complete the task of state-rebuilding through a strong central authority. The dilemma reflected an inherited tension between the power of central authority and the development of individual freedom and human rights. Examining how this tension affected Chen Duxiu's thinking and life experience helps us to better understand not only an important figure but also an important chapter of Chinese modern history. Background: This study aimed to devise a Cancer symptoms Discrimination Scale (CSDS) suitable for China based on a cross-sectional survey. Methods: The CSDS was developed using the classical measurement theory. A total of 3610 students from Yunnan province, China, participated in the cross-sectional survey. The test version of the scale was modified by the item analysis method, and after the official version of CSDS was developed, its reliability and validity were verified. A univariate analysis of variance and a multiple linear regression model were used to analyze the influencing factors of cancer symptoms discrimination among the university/college students. Results: There were 21 items in total for the CSDS, including 3 subscales --- common clinical manifestations (11 items), physical appearance defects (6 items), and drainage tube(s) wearing (4 items). This CSDS had good validity (GFI = 0.930, AGFI = 0.905, RMR = 0.013, I-CVIs> 0.80, and the Pearson correlation coefficient was satisfactory.) and reliability (Cronbach's alpha = 0.862, spearman-brown coefficient = 0.875). The multiple linear regression showed that certain factors may affect the students' discrimination level against cancer symptoms (P < 0.05), including gender, major, current education degree, guardian's highest record of formal schooling, self-rated health status, history of care for cancer patients, family relationship, ways of cancer knowledge acquisition, good/poor understanding of cancer-related information, degree of cancer fear, and their perception of cancer infectiousness. Six spirobiflavonoid stereoisomers including two new ones, spiropensilisols A (1) and B (2), were isolated from a mass-limited trunk barks of Glyptostrobus pensilis , an endangered conifer endemic to China. The new structures featuring a benzofuran-containing spirolactone and their absolute configurations were determined by extensive spectroscopic methods. All the isolates showed significant inhibitory activities against the human protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) enzyme, a potential therapeutic target for diabetes and obesity, with IC 50 values ranging from 3.3 to 17.1 µM. A preliminary SAR analysis with assistance of the molecular modeling approach was performed for the most potent compound (i.e., 1), to understand the nature of interactions governing the binding mode of spirobiflavonids within the active site of the PTP1B enzyme. Abstract: Hantavirus genome sequences were recovered from lung tissues of Chinese white-bellied rats (Niviventer confucianus) captured in Yunnan province, China. Pairwise comparison of the nucleotide and deduced amino acid sequences of the entire S and partial M and L segments indicated that the newly discovered virus strain, which was designated as strain YN509, was very different from other rodent-borne hantaviruses. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the new strain fit into a clade containing Da Bie Shan virus (DBSV) (also carried by N. confucianus), which is mainly found in Anhui Province in mainland China. Strain YN509 appears to be in a sister taxa of the DBSV group described previously. These data suggest that strain YN509 is a new subtype of DBSV, which appears to be widely distributed in China with a higher genetic diversity than expected. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Six previously unreported solanidane steroidal alkaloids, namely lyrasolanosides A-F, were isolated from Solanum lyratum. In addition, five known steroidal alkaloids were also identified. The structures of these compounds were determined through the use of NMR, HRESIMS,UV, IR and ECD analysis. To assess their bioactivities, the cytotoxic effects of the six previously unreported compounds were evaluated on A549 cells. The results revealed that lyrasolanoside B (2) exhibited the highest potency among them. Lyrasolanoside B (2) exhibited significant inhibition of cell migration, invasion, and adhesion dramatically. Mechanistically, it was found to suppress the activity of JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway by downregulating the expression of phosphorylated JAK2/STAT3 in an exosome-dependent manner. In addition, lyrasolanoside B (2) was found to significantly upregulate the expression of E-cadherin and downregulate the expression of N-cadherin and vimentin. These findings indicate that lyrasolanoside B (2) inhibits the metastasis of A549 cells by suppressing exosome-mediated EMT. Background: Thyroid dysfunction is closely related to arrhythmia. However, the relationship between sensitivity to thyroid hormone and risk of arrhythmia remains unknown. This study aimed to investigate the association between the thyroid system complex index and risk of arrhythmia in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD)., Methods: This large, multicenter study included 28,413 patients with CHD. Central sensitivity to thyroid hormone was assessed by calculating the thyroid feedback quantile-based index (TFQI). Logistic regression was used to analyze the relationship between sensitivity to thyroid hormone and risk of arrhythmia. This study also assessed the relationship between sensitivity to thyroid hormone and risk of arrhythmia in different sexes, ages, and glucose regulation and blood lipid states., Results: Of the 28,413 participants, 8935 (31.4%) patients with CHD had arrhythmia. There was a remarkable association between TFQI and risk of arrhythmia (odds ratio [OR]: 0.783; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.735-0.836). Furthermore, the association between the TFQI and risk of arrhythmia in women (OR: 0.731; 95% CI: 0.667-0.802) was stronger than that in men (OR: 0.894; 95% CI: 0.816-0.910), as well as higher in elder (OR: 0.779; 95% CI: 0.721-0.843) than middle-aged (OR: 0.789; 95% CI: 0.703-0.886) patients. Furthermore, the association was strong in the state of diabetes (OR: 0.635; 95% 0.569-0.709) and dyslipidemia (OR: 0.706; 95% CI: 0.644-0.774)., Conclusion: There is a remarkable association between sensitivity to thyroid hormone and risk of arrhythmia in patients with CHD, which is more pronounced among women and the elderly. Southern Taihang Mountain area is an important part of the key ecological regions along the Yellow River in China. Understanding the climate change trend in this area is of significance for the maintenance of ecological security and the planning and decision-making of major ecological projects in the Yellow River Basin. Taking Jiyuan City in southern Taihang Mountain area as the research area, we analyzed the climate change trend in Jiyuan based on the meteorological data from 1980 to 2019. The results showed that climate in Jiyuan tended to be warmer and wetter during the study period. The change rates of temperature and precipitation were 0.48 ℃·(10 a) -1 and 14.21 mm·(10 a) -1 , respectively. The rise of temperature in spring and summer was higher than that in autumn and winter. Climate was warmer and drier in spring, while warmer and wetter in the other three seasons. Potential evapotranspiration and aridity index showed increasing and decreasing trends, with the average value of 748 mm and 1.36, respectively. The first and last days ≥10 ℃ were about 3 days in advance and 1 day in delay every 10 years. The change rate of effective accumulated temperature ≥10 ℃, duration days ≥10 ℃ and high temperature days were 116.57 ℃·(10 a) -1 , 4 d·(10 a) -1 , and 5 d·(10 a) -1 , respectively. The 1990s was the driest decade in Jiyuan during the study period, with strongest increases of temperature. Half of the years showed the characteristics of semi-arid climate in that decade. From 2010 to 2019, the trend of climate warming and wetting in Jiyuan had accelerated significantly, which was the warmest and wettest decade. In recent 10 years, duration days ≥10 ℃ and the effective accumulated temperature increased by about 28 days and 389.36 ℃, respectively. The frequency and intensity of high temperature weather also increased significantly in this decade.

Objective: To compare the genotypes of Bordetella pertussis isolated from infants in Xi'an and Shanghai., Methods: Samples were collected by nasopharyngeal swab from infants aged <1 year hospitalized with suspected pertussis in Xi'an and Shanghai during 2018 and 2019. Bordetella pertussis was isolated, and multilocus antigen sequence typing (MAST) and multilocus variable-number tandem repeat analysis (MLVA) were used to analyse the genotypes., Results: A total of 1200 samples were collected from infants suspected of pertussis and 60 strains of Bordetella pertussis were isolated, including 34 strains in Xi'an and 26 strains in Shanghai. There were significant differences in the MAST types between Xi'an and Shanghai ( χ 2 =18.642, P <0.01); the prn1 / ptxP1 / ptxA1 / fim3-1 / fim2-1 strains dominated in Xi'an (32/34, 94.12%), while the dominated MAST types in Shanghai were prn1 / ptxP1 / ptxA1 / fim3-1 / fim2-1 (13/26, 50.00%) and prn2 / ptxP3 / ptxA1 / fim3-1 / fim2-1 (11/26, 42.31%). The composition of MLVA type of pertussis strains was also significantly different between Xi'an and Shanghai ( χ 2 =15.866, P <0.01); the MT195 (13/34, 38.24%), MT55 (10/34, 29.41%) and MT104 (9/34, 26.47%) strains dominated in Xi'an, while the MT27 (12/26, 46.15%) strain was most common in Shanghai., Conclusion: There are differences in molecular types of Bordetella pertussis isolated from infants with suspected persussis in Xi'an and Shanghai, indicating that further monitoring of Bordetella pertussis is necessary for better understanding the pathogen evolution in China.

Objectives: This study sought to compare the efficacy and clinical safety of the LONGTY drug-coated balloon (DCB) with those of SeQuent Please DCB in patients with in-stent restenosis (ISR)., Background: Although DCB technologies have evolved, little is known about the clinical efficacy of the new-generation LONGTY DCB., Methods: This was a prospective, multicenter, randomized, noninferiority trial comparing LONGTY DCB with SeQuent Please DCB in patients with ISR. The primary endpoint was target lesion late lumen loss at 9 months' follow-up., Results: A total of 211 patients with ISR from 13 Chinese sites were included (LONGTY DCB, n = 105; SeQuent Please DCB, n = 106). Device success was achieved in all patients. At the 9 month angiographic follow-up, target lesion late lumen loss was 0.35 ± 0.42 mm with LONGTY and 0.38 ± 0.45 mm with SeQuent Please (p for noninferiority <.001). The target lesion revascularization rates at 1 year were similar in both DCB groups (15.24 vs. 13.21%; p = .673). Over an extended follow-up of 2 years, the clinical endpoints, including cardiac death, myocardial infarction, and thrombus rate, were extremely low and similar in both groups., Conclusions: In this multicenter, head-to-head, randomized trial, the new-generation LONGTY DCB was noninferior to the SeQuent Please DCB for the primary endpoint of target lesion late lumen loss at 9 months., (© 2021 Wiley Periodicals LLC.)

Fifty cultivated Perilla seeds were collected all over the country and planted in Beijing experiment field for morphology and chemical-type researches. Twenty morphological characteristics were selected and observed, and the essential oil from leaves was extracted by steam distillation and analyzed by GC-MS to confirm chemical-types. There were significant diversities in plant height, leaf color and morphology, and fruit color and weight. Clustering analysis was carried out based on these morphological characteristics. Six types were divided with their chemical-type designated. Type Ⅰ: Six germplasms, attributed to P. frutescens var. crispa, with dwarf plants, thin creased purple leaf, named Crispa, their chemical types were diversified, including EK, PAPK, PA and PK. Type Ⅱ: Six germplasms, attributed to P. frutescens var. crispa, plants were taller than type I and with thin and creased green leaf, named Big Crispa, all PK type. Type Ⅲ: Seventeen germplasms, attributed to P. frutescens var. frutescens with leaf color upside green and underside purple, tall plant and wide distribution all over the China, named Ordinary Frutescens, all PK. Type Ⅳ: Four germplasms, attributed to P. frutescens var. acuta with tall plant and small seed, named Acuta, all PK. Type Ⅴ: Seven germplasms, attributed to P. frutescens var. frutescens with green leaves, tall plants and long clusters, named Long-spike Frutescens, all PK. Type Ⅵ: Ten germplasms, attributed to P. frutescens var. frutescens with big, thick and creased leaf, named Thick-leaf Frutescens, including PK, PP, PL and PA. The morphological classification of this paper would lay the foundation for the taxonomic naming and following evaluation of the Perilla germplasm resources.This study also showed that there was no correspondence but a certain correlation between volatile oil chemical-types and subspecies classification and morphological characteristics of Perilla.

Objective: To identify genetic susceptibility genes and the loci of their single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in patients with testicular germ cell tumor (TGCT) and provide some new ideas for the prediction, diagnosis and treatment of TGCT., Methods: We identified 41 SNP loci of TGCT-related genetic susceptibility genes from the literature published abroad. Using the iMLDRTM genotyping technique, we examined the SNP loci of the genetic susceptibility genes in the blood samples from 76 TGCT patients (aged 16－68 years) and 148 healthy men (aged 22－61 years) in China and analyzed their correlation with TGCT., Results: In China, TGCT was found to be correlated with the SNP loci rs2978381, rs10146204, rs12435857 and rs1256063 of the ESR2 gene, rs9397080 of the ESR1 gene, rs11202586 of the PTEN gene, rs2606345 and rs4646903 of the CYP1A1 gene, and rs1456432 of the CYP19A1 gene., Conclusions: The results of our study indicated some difference in the positive SNP loci of the TGCT patients between Chinese and foreign cohorts as well as in different groups in China.

Objectives: Lower serum uric acid (UA) levels are considered to be related to the risk to develop many neurodegenerative disorders. However, the association between serum UA level and multiple system atrophy (MSA) remains controversial. The aim of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the relationship between serum UA level and MSA., Patients and Methods: PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane Library and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) were searched for eligible studies. Standardized mean difference (SMD) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CI) were calculated in a fixed-effects model or a random-effects model when appropriate. Subgroup analyses were carried out based on gender. A total of 6 eligible studies involving 547 MSA patients and 637 healthy individuals were identified., Results: Meta-analysis results revealed that individuals with MSA had lower sera levels of UA as compared with healthy controls (pooled SMD is -0.51, 95%CI: -0.88 to -0.14; p = 0.006). The subgroup analysis to detect sex differences showed that the pooled SMD was -0.61 (95% CI: -0.82 to -0.40; p < 0.0001) for males and -0.22 (95% CI: -0.55 to 0.10; p = 0.18) for females compared with healthy controls., Conclusion: Our meta-analysis revealed that lower serum level of UA is associated with an increased risk of MSA and the relationship is significant in men but not in women., (Copyright © 2018 Elsevier B.V. Background: Fractional flow reserve (FFR) is currently considered as the gold standard for evaluating the functional significance of coronary stenosis. However, its potential benefits in real-world practice remain unknown in China. This study aimed to test the hypothesis that the use of FFR is associated with improved outcome and reduced cost in Chinese real-world clinical practice., Methods: A retrospective cohort study was carried out using the database of Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University, a tertiary and high-volume center in China. Clinical events were compared using the Cox proportional hazards model during a median follow-up of 13 months., Results: The study cohort consisted of 366 consecutive patients referred for coronary revascularization with adjunct FFR and 366 matched controls, from 2010 to 2014. Major adverse cardiac events (MACEs) (death, myocardial infarction, repeated revascularization, or hospitalization for angina) at 4 years were found in 12.0% of angiography-guided patients and 4.9% in the FFR-guided group (P < 0.001). The mean number of implanted stents was significantly lower in FFR treated subjects (0.52 ± 0.82 stents) compared with the angiography-guided group (0.93 ± 0.96 stents) (P < 0.001). No difference in overall costs at initial hospitalization was observed between angiography-guided percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) compared with FFR-guided PCI (RMB 33,000 Yuan, range: RMB 7393-44,700 Yuan) versus RMB 21,200 Yuan (RMB 19,100-47,100 Yuan) (P = 0.54). However, costs for MACEs during follow-up were significantly reduced in the FFR-guided arm (P < 0.001)., Conclusions: In the contemporary clinical practice, FFR-guided PCI is associated with decreased use of stents, improved clinical outcome, and reduced costs, compared with angiography-guided PCI.

Objective: To describe the current status and associated risk factors on child abuse in children aged 7-12 in rural areas of Ningxia., Methods: Using multistage sampling method to select townships and villages. Children aged 7-12 and their guardians were selected by random sampling method in those villages. Current status on child abuse was described under related percentage while logistic regression model was used to evaluate the risk factors associated with child abuse., Results: A total number of 704 children aged 7-12 from 15 villages in two counties were interviewed. Among them, 359 (50.2%) children had experienced child abuse (include physical abuse, negligence, emotional/physical abuse and sexual abuse) in the past year. Physical abuse (44.6%) was the most frequent one in all the child abuse cases. Only 10 (1.4%) children had a comprehensive understanding of 'child abuse'. 55.5% of the children had ever reported this problem to their parents or teachers when suffered from abuse episodes. Results from the logistic regression model showed that factors as: being boys (OR = 1.37, 95% CI: 1.01-1.85), under Han nationality (OR = 1.49, 95% CI: 1.06-2.08), at younger age (OR = 1.16, 95% CI: 1.05-1.28), staying with single parent (OR = 2.05, 95% CI: 1.16-3.64) and from wealthy family (OR = 1.55, 95% CI: 1.03-2.33) were at risk for child abuse., Conclusion: Child abuse in rural areas in Ningxia was a serious problem, Children's cognitive to child abuse was very low. More attention should be paid to children with the following characteristics as: being boys, under Han nationality, at younger age, staying with single parent.

Objective: To investigate the current status of reproductive history among married women and the mortality rate of children under 5 years. Influence of reproductive history among married women on mortality rate of their children under 5 years in rural areas in Shaanxi province was also studied., Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted on reproductive history and mortality rate of their children under 5 years of age in five Fourth National-Level Poverty-Stricken counties in Shaanxi province. Sample under study was chosen according to the three-stage stratified random sampling technique., Results: A total number of 4 732 married women were studied, with the average age of first birth as 23.65 years, the average parity as 1.49, the average spacing between first and second child birth as 6.96 years and the average spacing between second and third child birth as 3.98 years. In children under 5 years of age among the surveyed women in 2007-2010, 32.19% of the deaths in children under 5 years of age occurred during infancy while 70.21% of the infant deaths occurred during neonatal period. The mortality rates (1/1000)for newborns, infants and children under 5 years were 6.71‰, 9.55‰, 29.67‰ respectively. Infant mortality rate of mother with multiple births was higher than the singletons (χ² = 6.057, P = 0.014). Parity differences in mortality rate of children under 5 years were significant(χ² = 17.469, P < 0.001)and interval differences of births on infant mortality rate were also significant(χ² = 13.137, P = 0.001)., Conclusion: Fertility of rural women in Shaanxi was in good condition. The proportion that infant death was accounted for the total deaths of children under 5 years had declined, but the neonatal deaths still accounted for a big proportion of infant deaths. Infant mortality rate and mortality rate of children under 5 years old had declined, when compared to the national level in 2000, however, it was still higher than the city level. In terms of the fertility characteristics in women as multiple births, more parity and short spacing of births etc, were important factors of death of their children under 5 years of age.

Objective: To understand the transmission of human parasites in Qushui Village, Yangqing Town, Suixi County, Zhanjing City, Guangdong Province., Methods: The direct stool smear, floatation, Kato-Katz technique, and hookworm larva culture were used for the parasite infections. The questionnaire survey was applied for the hazards of parasites. The dissections on rats and snails were used for Angiostrongylus cantonensis infection., Results: Five parasites were found and the total infection rate was 10.75%. The infection rates of hookworm (Necator americanus), Ascaris lumbricoides and Trichuris trichiura were 6.07%, 1.87% and 1.87%, respectively, and the infection rates of Enterobius vermicularis and Tyroglyrhus farinae were both 0.47%. The infections were not correlated with the career and age but preferred to males. The densities of infections were slight. The rate of dermatitis caused by hookworm larvae was 69.23%. The infection rates of Angiostrongylus cantonensis were 16.66%, 13.04% and 10.00%, respectively in rats, Achatina fulica and Ampularum crossean., Conclusion: The main species of human parasites are nematodes, with hookworm predominately, in Qushui Village, Suixi County. This area is the natural foci of Angiostrongylus cantonensis.

The impact of sildenafil on pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in Chinese patients has been less investigated. A prospective, open-label, uncontrolled and multicenter study, therefore, was carried out to address this issue. Ninety patients with multicause-induced PAH received oral sildenafil (75 mg/day) for 12 weeks. The 6-minute walk test (SMWT) and cardiac catheterization were performed at the beginning and the end of the 12 weeks. The primary endpoint was the changes in exercise capacity assessed by the SMWT; the secondary endpoint included assessment of functional class, evaluation of cardiopulmonary hemodynamics, and clinical worsening. Drug safety and tolerability were also examined. The results showed that there was a significant improvement in SMWT distances (342 ± 93 m vs 403 ± 88 m, P < .0001), Borg dyspnea score (2.9 ± 2.6 vs 2.4 ± 2.0, P = .0046), World Health Organization functional class, and cardiopulmonary hemodynamics (mean pulmonary artery pressure, P < .0001; cardiac index, P < .0001; pulmonary vascular resistance, P < .0001) after 12 weeks of oral sidenafil therapy. Almost all enrolled patients did not experience significant clinical worsening. This study confirms and extends the findings of previous studies relating to effects of sildenafil on PAH, suggesting that oral sildenafil is safe and effective for the treatment of adult patients with PAH in the Chinese population.

The polymorphism of Interleukin-8 (IL8) gene were investigated for 610 Chinese Holstein cows of 30 bull families from a dairy farm in Shanghai using Polymerase Chain Reaction-Single Strand Conformation Polymorphism (PCR-SSCP) technique with a mixed animal model to verify the effects of the polymorphisms on some milk productive performance, tested day milk yield, tested day fat percentage, tested day milk protein percentage, 305 d corrected milk yield, 305 d milk fat yield, 305 d milk protein yield, and somatic cell score (SCS). The aim was to explore the significant molecular marker in practical dairy production. Three genotypes were identified and the genotypic frequencies of KK, KA, and AA were 0.187, 0.451, and 0.362, respectively. The gene frequencies of K and A were 0.412 and 0.588. The results showed highly significant (P < 0.01) association of IL8 mutations with tested day milk yield, 305 d milk protein yield, 305 d corrected milk yield and 305 d milk fat yield, SCS and tested day milk protein percentage (P < 0.05). However, no association (P > 0.05) with tested day milk fat percentage was recorded. The cows with KK genotype had higher tested day milk yield, 305 d milk protein yield, 305 d corrected milk yield and 305 d milk fat yield than those with AA and KA genotypes (P < 0.01). The least square mean of SCS for KK was significantly lower than that with AA and KA genotypes (P < 0.01). AA genotype was significant lower in tested day milk protein percentage than KK and KA genotypes (P < 0.05). The IL8 gene genetic diversity has a great genetic effect on milk traits and mastitis resistance and could be a useful genetic marker for Chinese Holstein breeding.

To characterize the strains of Anaplasma phagocytophilum in wild and domestic animals in China, we isolated the organism from rodents and sheep in northeastern China. We isolated 3 strains (2 from rodents and 1 from sick sheep) through propagation in BALB/c mice and then cell culture in HL60 cells. The 3 isolates were identified by Wright-Giemsa staining, immunofluorescence, and electronic microscopy and were characterized by sequence analyses of the 16S rRNA gene, partial citrate synthase gene, major surface protein 4 gene, and heat shock protein gene. The multiple sequences of the 3 isolates were identical to each other but different from all known strains from other countries. The public health and veterinary relevance of the isolates deserves further investigation.

The LPIN1 gene, encoding lipin-1 protein, plays critical roles in adipocyte differentiation and lipid metabolism. This study aimed to analyze the association of LPIN1 mRNA levels in human adipose tissue with metabolic phenotypes. We also examined the association of LPIN1 genetic variation with type 2 diabetes and related metabolic phenotypes in the Chinese population. The relative LPIN1 mRNA levels were measured in abdominal visceral (VAT) and subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) obtained from 102 nondiabetic Chinese females. Seven single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) spanning from the 5'-upstream region to the 3'-end of the LPIN1 gene were genotyped in 1,520 Chinese (760 type 2 diabetic cases and 760 controls). LPIN1 mRNA levels in VAT were negatively correlated with BMI (r = -0.21, P = 0.03), body fat percentage (r = -0.22, P = 0.02), plasma triglycerides levels (r = -0.21, P = 0.03), and plasma leptin levels (r = -0.63, P = 0.0002). LPIN1 mRNA levels were positively correlated with PPARG and ADIPOQ mRNA levels in both VAT and SAT. No single SNP of the LPIN1 gene was associated with type 2 diabetes in our population. One rare haplotype showed a significant association with type 2 diabetes (odds ratio (OR), 4.35; 95% confidence interval, 1.86-11.75; P = 4 x 10(-4)). No SNP or haplotype of the LPIN1 gene was associated with quantitative metabolic traits in the nondiabetic subjects. The results confirmed the association of LPIN1 gene expression in adipose tissue with lower adiposity and favorable metabolic profiles in the Chinese population. However, the LPIN1 gene seemed not to be a major susceptibility gene for type 2 diabetes or related metabolic phenotypes in the Chinese population.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence of Anaplasma phagocytophilum in small mammals from the forest area of Hengduan Mountains in southwestern China., Methods: Small mammals captured from Gaoligong and Xianggelila mountainous area of Yunnan province were detected by PCR amplification. The sequences of 16S rRNA and Msp4 gene fragments from positive samples were compared with corresponding sequences deposited in GenBank., Results: A total number of 436 small animals, which belongs to 5 orders 18 genera 35 species were tested, 32 (7.34%) were positive in 6 genera 11 species. There were 8.64% (26/301) positive in 25 species at Goligong mountainous areas, and 4.44% (6/135) were positive in 19 species at the Xianggelila mountainous areas. Positive small mammals were most rodents. The nucleotide sequences of A.phagocytophilum 16S rRNA gene amplified from small mammals varied from 99% - 100% and were 99% - 100% similar with the corresponding segments of A. phagocytophilum from Jilin deposited in GeneBank. The sequences of A. phagocytophilum Msp4 gene showed that there was 95% - 97% similarity with the corresponding sequences registered in GenBank., Conclusion: A. phagocytophilum was firstly identified in 6 genera 11 species small mammals from a forest area of Hengduan Mountainous areas in southwestern China. Rodents might serve as the primary hosts indicating the potential risk to the domestic animals and human beings in this area.

Objectives: To analyze the epidemiology information of prostate cancer from three centers of Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and to reflect the current situation of prostate cancer in China, and to analyze the information of 272 patients with advanced prostate cancer who received hormonal therapy to find the prognostic factors of hormone therapy., Methods: Collect the information of 525 patients with prostate cancer from three centers. Two hundred and seventy-two cases of advanced prostate cancer with full information were selected from the 525 cases to analyze the prognostic factors of hormone therapy., Results: Three hundred and fifty-seven cases (68.0%) had advanced disease at diagnosis and 80.2% patients received hormone therapy as the main therapy. Prognostic analysis indicated that Gleason score, bone metastasis and prostate specific antigen nadir were independent prognostic factors of progression-free survival time., Conclusions: In this report, most patients are advanced prostate cancer at diagnose, and hormonal therapy is the main therapy. Gleason score, bone metastasis, prostate specific antigen nadir are independent prognostic factors of advanced prostate cancer after hormone therapy.
