Ovaj rad je fokusiran na mogućnosti vatrozida otvorenog koda u svrhu primjene u podatkovnim centrima. Kao takav se nadovezuje i nadopunjuje diplomski rad Frana Hršaka pod nazivom Usporedba softvera otvorenog koda za usmjeravanje u svrhu paketizacije mreža niskih cijena u podatkovnim centrima koji je fokusiran na mogućnosti usmjeravanja istih operacijskih sustava. Zajedno tvore projekt koji je izrađen u suradnji s tvrtkom Combis d.o.o. Kroz ovaj rad, čitatelj će se upoznati s problematikom kojom se ovaj rad bavi, razumjeti osnovne elemente rada te vidjeti usporedbu više programa i/ili operacijskih sustava, što teoretski što kroz praktičnu primjenu. This paper is focused on analysing the possibilities of open source firewalls for their use in dana centers. As such, it is part of a bigger project carried out for Combis d.o.o. that includes Fran Hršak's master thesis Comparison of open source routing software with purpose of packetization of low cost networks in data centres. Through this paper, the reader will learn about the problematics of this papers topic, learn the basic elements of the paper and be able to read the comparison of a couple of different software, while some of the comparison is in theory and some have practical examples.

Ovaj rad je fokusiran na mogućnosti usmjeravanja jednih od najpopularnijih softvera otvorenog koda za usmjeritelje. Kao takav se nadovezuje i nadopunjuje diplomski rad Paola Lanče pod nazivom Analiza vatrozida otvorenog koda u podatkovnim centrima koji je fokusiran na mogućnosti vatrozida tih istih softvera. Zajedno tvore projekt koji je izrađen u suradnji s tvrtkom Combis d.o.o. U uvodu je dân kratki pregled povijesti softvera otvorenog koda kao i usporedba s ostalim vrstama softvera te postupka usmjeravanja. Softveri izabrani za testiranje uključuju VyOS, kao softver koji ima bolje izvedene funkcionalnosti usmjeravanja, i pfSense kao softver s naprednijim vatrozidom. Oba softvera su ukratko opisana te su predstavljene njihove mogućnosti. Za svaki od njih je opisan postupak instalacije i postavljanja, posebno kao samostalnih uređaja i posebno kao dijelova složenije mreže. Provedeni testovi uključuju mogućnosti usmjeravanja protokolom OSPF, sposobnost visoke dostupnosti kojom se osigurava da mreža nastavi funkcionirati i nakon ispada usmjeritelja koji je do tada obavljao usmjeravanje, te ispitivanje propusnosti. Testovi su provedeni za svaki od softvera zasebno, kao i u kombinaciji jednog s drugim. Nakon svakog testa dân je komentar, a potpuni pregled rezultata se nalazi u poglavlju 2.4. This master thesis is focused on routing possibilities of some of the most popular open-source softwares for routers. As such, it is part of a bigger project carried out for Combis d.o.o. that includes Paolo Lanča's master thesis Analysis of open-source firewalls in data centers. Introduction consists of a brief summary of open-source software's history and how it compares to other types of software along with a brief summary of network routing. Software chosen for testing include VyOS, as a software specialized in routing, and pfSense as a software with a more advanced firewall. Both of them are described briefly and their possibilites are introduced. Instructions on how to install and set up, both as lone devices and as part of a larger network, are given for both of them. Conducted tests consist of routing possibilities using OSPF, possibility of high availability which ensures that the network continues operating normally after the main router breaks down, and throughput tests. The tests were conducted on each software separately and while operating together. Every test is followed by a short comment and the overview of the results is given in the chapter 2.4.

Zahtjevi krajnjih korisnika za velikim prijenosnim brzinama u paketskim mrežama u posljednje su vrijeme sve veći, no brzina prijenosa podataka, govora i videa je u velikoj mjeri uvjetovana mehanizmom kontrole zagušenja. U ovom radu opisani su principi rada protokola TCP i mehanizma kontrole zagušenja protokola TCP-Tahoe. U mrežnom simulatoru NS2 provedene su simulacije komunikacije protokolom TCP-Tahoe u mrežama s raznim ograničenjima te analiziran utjecaj tih ograničenja na performanse protokola. Promatrana je komunikacija s jednim prometnim tokom te s više prometnih tokova uz mjerenje propusnosti mreže. In recent times, end user demands for high transfer speeds in packet networks are increasing, and video, voice and file transfer speeds are greatly determined by congestion control. This thesis describes the principles behind TCP and the congestion control mechanism of TCP-Tahoe. Using the NS2 network simulator, we perform simulations of TCP-Tahoe in networks with varying types of limitations, in an effort to understand the influence of said limitations on the protocol's performance. We simulate and analyze communication scenarios with one data flow, and with multiple data flows.

Cilj ovoga rada bio je implementirati sustav za višekanalnu bežičnu komunikaciju u stvarnome vremenu, a glavni zahtjev bila je brzina prijenosa od 2 do 3 Mbps. Detaljno su proučene mogućnosti samoga mikrokontrolera ESP32-S2 kao i službenoga frameworka. Implementiran je sustav koji koristi Wi-Fi tehnologiju i TCP protokol pri čemu se sama implementacija sastoji od dva programa: jednoga za poslužitelja mreže, drugoga za klijente. Sustav je analiziran nakon implementacije, a rezultati pokazuju kako je ostvarena i veća brzina prijenosa od tražene te kako stvarna brzina prijenosa ne odskače puno od maksimalne brzine, što znači da nema nepredviđenih, dodatnih zagušenja unutar mreže, odnosno da je sustav poprilično optimalno implementiran. The goal of this paper was to implement a system for multi-channel wireless communication in real time and the main request was the throughput from 2 to 3 Mbps. The possibilities of microcontroller ESP32-S2 as well as official framework were studied in detail. A system that uses Wi-Fi technology and TCP protocol has been implemented and the implementation itself consists of two programs, one for network server and the other for clients. The system was analysed after implementation and the results show that higher througput was achieved than the requested one and that the actual bit rate is not far from the maximum bandwidth, which means that there is no unforeseen, additional congestion within the network, i.e. that the system is quite optimally implemented.

Razvojem interneta stvari, počinje se detaljnije razmatrati problematika obrade velikih količina podataka. Sustavi za upravljanje tokom podataka posjeduju mehanizme koji omogućuju obradu podataka u stvarnome vremenu, stoga se koncept toka podataka počinje koristiti za obradu podataka iz domene interneta stvari. Ovisno o zahtjevima sustava, potrebno je odabrati odgovarajući alat za obradu toka podataka. Platforma Apache Beam nudi uniformno sučelje koje omogućava obradu prostorno-vremenskih tokova podataka pomoću većeg broja alata za obradu toka podataka bez poznavanja detalja njihove implementacije. Za mjerenje performanci platforme Apache Beam korišteni su podaci iz domene interneta stvari. Mjerenje se sastojalo od računanja propusnosti alata Apache Flink i Apache Spark koristeći varijabilan broj procesorskih jezgri HTC Cloud infrastrukture. Rezultati su pokazali da povećanjem broja procesorskih jezgri raste propusnost sustava, ali samo do gornje granice broja procesorskih jezgri. Za određivanje optimalnog broja procesorskih jezgri potrebno je poznavati zahtjeve sustava te empirijski testirati performance sustava koristeći varijabilan broj procesorskih jezgri. With the development of the Internet of Things, the issue of processing large amounts of data is beginning to be considered in more detail. Data stream management systems possess mechanisms that allow real-time data processing, so the concept of data stream is beginning to be used in processing data from the domain of the Internet of Things. Depending on the system requirements, it is necessary to select the appropriate data stream management system. The Apache Beam platform offers a uniform interface that allows spatio-temporal data streams to be processed using a number of data stream processing tools without knowing the details of their implementation. Data from the Internet of Things domain was used to measure the performance of the Apache Beam platform. The measurement consisted of calculating the throughput of the Apache Flink and Apache Spark using a variable number of HTC Cloud processor cores. The results showed that increasing the number of processor cores increases system throughput, but only up to the upper limit of the number of processor cores. To determine the optimal number of processor cores, it is necessary to know the requirements of the system and empirically test the performance of the system using a variable number of processor cores.

Igranje na računalnom oblaku je arhitektura za dostavljanje sadržaja video igara. Igre se odvijaju na udaljenom poslužitelju, a video sadržaj se dostavlja korisniku. Postoje razne komercijalne i besplatne platforme za igranje na računalnom oblaku. Karakteristike i kvaliteta prijenosa video sadržaja je ovisna o mrežnim uvjetima pod kojima igramo. Platforma GeForce NOW sadrži razne mehanizme prilagodbe ukoliko se ograničavaju mrežni parametri. Smanjenje mrežnih parametara uglavnom povlači smanjenje kvalitete prijenosa i utječe na iskustvenu kvalitetu igranja. Slijedi da je iskustvena kvaliteta ovisna o mrežnim parametrima i kompleksnosti video sadržaja. U ovom radu je provedena procjena iskustvene kvalitete tokom igranja pod raznim mrežnim parametrima. Cloud gaming is an architecture for delivery of video game content. Video game logic is processed on a distant server and only video of the game is returned to the player. There are various commercial and free cloud gaming platforms. Characteristics and quality of the streamed video are dependent on the network conditions under which the user plays. The GeForce NOW platform contains various adaptation mechanisms that are applied if the network conditions are limited. Limiting the network conditions mostly reduces stream quality and overall quality of experience of gaming. It follows that the overall QoE is dependent on the network parameters and complexity of the required video content of the game. This work contains a study of the overall QoE of gaming under different network parameters.

U industriji Interneta stvari se dovodi puno novih tehnologija i tehnoloških rješenja na tržište kako bi se zadovoljile potrebe ostvarivanja komunikacije s krajnjim uređajima. LoRa tehnologiju bežične komunikacije je razvila tvrtka Semtech. Dizajnirana je tako da omogućuje dalekometnu komunikaciju između krajnjih uređaja i pristupnika uz malu potrošnju energije. U ovom radu je predstavljen sustav za ispitivanje propusnosti komunikacijskoga kanala izvedenog u LoRa tehnologiji. Sustav za mjerenje propusnosti komunikacijskog kanala se izvodi u fizičkom sloju LoRa-e i namijenjen je mjerenju propusnosti u mreži s N uređaja ovisno o parametrima LoRa komunikacije. Kao krajnji uređaj ili čvor se koristi LoPy mikrokontroler. Ulogu mrežnog pristupnika obnaša Raspberry Pi 3B+ računalo sa spojenim InAir9 modulom. In the Internet of Things industry there are many new emerging technologies and solutions which are used to establish communication with end devices. LoRa wireless communications technology was developed by Semtech. It was designed to enable long range transmissions between end-devices and gateways with low energy consumption. A system to measure throughput in LoRa communications channel is presented in this paper. The system is based on the LoRa physical layer and is intended for measurements in a network with N number of nodes with different parameter settings. LoPy microcontrollers are used as end devices and the gateway is implemented using Raspberry Pi 3B+ with connected InAir9 module.

U ovom radu dan je kratak pregled IEEE 802.11ac/ax/ad standarada. Potom je, u alatu Ekahau Site Survey, isplanirana bežična lokalna mreža temeljena na 802.11ac standardu te su analizirani rezultati. Prema izvršenom planiranju, implementirana je stvarna mreža s četiri pristupne točke, s minimalno 2x2:2 MIMO tehnologijom, koje rade u frekvencijskim pojasevima od 2.4 i 5 GHz. Nad implementiranom mrežom vršena su mjerenja te je dan osvrt na rezultate. Aktivnim mjerenjem izmjerena je stvarna propusnost mreže. Zadnji dio se odnosi na simulaciju testa najmanje osjetljivosti prijamnika i na simulaciju vjerojatnosti odnosa pogrešaka paketa. This paper provides a brief overview of IEEE 802.11ac/ax/ad standards. Then, in the Ekahau Site Survey tool, WLAN was planned baised on the 802.11ac standard and the results were analyzed. According to the planning, real network was implemented with four access points, with minimum of 2x2:2 MIMO technology, which works in both 2.4 and 5 GHz frequency bands. Measurements were performed over the implemented network and the result were reviewed. Active measurement provided us look on a real throughput of the network. The last part refers to the simulation of receiver minimum input sensitivity test and simulation of packet error rate for 2x2 TGac Channel.

Ovaj diplomski rad opisuje teorijsku podlogu Ethernet komunikacije kao i provedbu analize TCP/IP protokolskog stoga za 100 Base-TX Ethernet na TTTechovoj TTA-Drive ploči. Analiza se provodila nad komunikacijom dva procesora na TTA-Drive ploči u tri faze: analiza maksimalne brzine slanja podataka, maksimalne brzine primanja podataka i analiza obilaska mreže. Analiziran je utjecaj Linux raspodjelitelja zadataka (engl. Scheduler) na performanse slanja, problem omjera korisnog sadržaja i zaglavlja podatkovnog paketa (engl. Goodput), ukupne propusnosti (engl. Throughput) i povećanje vremenskog kašnjenja (engl. Latency) za različite duljine podataka. Na temelju provedene analize moguće je predvidjeti ponašanje sustava u određenim uvjetima i na taj način poboljšati arhitekturu programske podrške za navedenu ploču. This thesis describes the theoretical background of Ethernet communication as well as the implementation of TCP/IP protocol stack analysis for 100 Base-TX Ethernet on the TTTech TTA-Drive board. The analysis was conducted over the communication of two processors on the TTA-Drive board and in three phases: the analysis of maximum send rate, maximum receive rate and round-trip analysis. The impact of the Linux scheduler on the performance of sending data, the problem of the ratio of useful content and package header (Goodput), the overall Throughput, and the increase of the latency for different lengths of data were analyzed. Based on the performed analysis, it is possible to predict the behavior of the system under certain conditions and thus improve the architecture of the program support for the specified board.

U lokalnim mrežama, mnogi korisnici dijele prijenosni medij za komunikaciju. Da bi se izbjegli sukobi pristupa prijenosnom mediju, kada dvije različite stanice šalju podatke istovremeno, mogu se koristiti tehnike FDMA, TDMA te tehnike pristupa mediju dodijeljenog po potražnji. Međutim, za praskav promet dolazaka, tehnike slučajnog pristupa mediju su učinkovitije jer medij nije fiksno zauzet. Zbog sudara paketa, mreža s tehnikom pristupa mediju čista ALOHA ima maksimalno prometno opterećenje, odnosno propusnost od oko 18.5%. Kod tehnike slotted ALOHA maksimalna propusnost je povećana za dvostruko do oko 37%. Tehnikom CSMA maksimalna propusnost se dobiva i preko 50%. Izrazi za određivanje propusnosti te prosječnog kašnjenja prijenosa u lokalnoj mreži koristeći TDMA, FDMA i CDMA su izvedeni. Općenito, prosječno vrijeme prijenosa putem tehnike TDMA je uvijek manje (za broj stanica N > 2) od korištenja tehnika FDMA ili CDMA. Pokazano je da tehnike FDMA i CDMA imaju isto prosječno kašnjenje prijenosa. In local area networks, the transmission channel for communication is often shared by many users. To avoid conflicts of access to the transmission channel, such as two stations transmitting at the same time, FDMA, TDMA, and demand assignment techniques can be used. However, for bursty input traffic, random access techniques have been found to be more efficient because the medium is not fixed assigned. Because of collisions, a pure ALOHA network has a maximum utilization factor of about 18.5%. When slotted ALOHA is considered the maximum throughput is increased to about 37%. With CSMA method, the maximum throughput is over 50%. Expressions for determining the average transfer delay in local area networks using TDMA, FDMA and CDMA are derived. In general, the average transfer delay using TDMA is always smaller (for number of stations N > 2) than that of using FDMA or CDMA. It is shown that CDMA and FDMA have the same average transfer delay.

Održavanje i unapređivanje mobilnih mreža povlači potrebu učestalog testiranja i optimizacije parametara. Najčešći način ispitivanja korisničkog iskustva i ispravnog rada baznih stanica je provođenje mjerenja klasičnim cestovnim vozilom. Iako se ovim načinom prikupljaju relevantni podaci o korisničkom iskustvu te se omogućava pregled rada bazne stanice kao i okolišnih čimbenika javlja se ograničenje mjerenja na određena područja. Područje visokih stambenih i poslovnih zgrada kao i raznih kulturnih i sportskih objekata klasičnim cestovnim vozilom nisu dostupni stoga se javlja ideja izrade sustava mjerenja radiofrekvencijskih parametara pomoću bespilotne letjelice. Korištenjem ovog sustava smanjuju se troškovi testiranja i omogućuje se stvaranje šire slike korisničkog iskustva u svrhu brže i učinkovitije optimizacije. Praktični dio ovog rada analizira rezultate mjerenja klasičnim ispitivanjem pomoću bespilotne letjelice ukazujući na razliku pojedinih parametara. Maintaining and upgrading mobile networks entails the need for frequent testing and parameters optimization. The most common way of testing the user experience and the base stations proper operation is drive testing. Although this method allows the relevant data collection and provides image of user experience as well as environmental factors, there is a limit to the measurements to certain areas. High residential and commercial buildings as well as various cultural and sports facilities are not available to be measured with classic road vehicles. Therefore, arises the idea of measuring radio frequency parameters using drones. This system will reduce the costs of testing and provide wider image of user experience for faster and more effective optimization of radio networks. The practical part of this thesis analyzes the results of radio measurement with classic vehicle testing and using drones pointing out the difference of certain parameters.

U uvodnom dijelu ovog rada se čitatelje uvodi u koncept prijenosa govora Internetom kako bi se napravila teorijska podloga za razumijevanje izvedenih pokusa. U praktičnom dijelu ovog rada se kroz razne scenarije pokazuje utjecaj mrežnih elemenata na prijenos višemedijskog sadržaja u bežičnim lokalnim mrežama. Cilj svakog scenarija je opisati ponašanje mrežnih elemenata i njihov utjecaj na mrežne atribute kroz specifično osmišljene situacije. Prvi scenarij pokazuje kakav utjecaj jedno prelaženje između dvije pristupne točke iste mreže ima na kvalitetu poziva kod mobilnog korisnika. Sljedeći scenarij se nastavlja na prvi pokus i u njemu se pokazuje kako protokol RTP računa mrežne atribute na temelju varijabli u zaglavljima paketa iz tog prvog pokusa. U trećem scenariju su se obavila mjerenja mrežnog prometa na istom putu uz različite kodeke kako bi se dobila usporedba njihovih performansi. Na zajedničkom putu je tokom trajanja poziva došlo do mnogo prebacivanja između pristupnih točaka i utvrdilo se ponašanje kodeka u takvim mrežnim uvjetima. U četvrtom scenariju se proučilo ponašanje video poziva na putu iz prošlog scenarija, te su se usporedili audio i video tokovi. U posljednjem scenariju su se ponovila mjerenja kao iz trećeg scenarija uz iznimku da je dio mreže bio zagušen, iz čega se dobila usporedba performansi kodeka u stabilnim i nestabilnim mrežnim uvjetima. In the first part of this paper the reader is introduced to the concept of transmission of audio traffic over the Internet in order to gain a theoretical background for the understanding of presented experiments. In the practical part of this paper the influence of network elements on transmission of multimedia content is shown through various scenarios in wireless local networks. The goal of each scenario is to describe the behaviour of network elements and their influence on network attributes through specificly designed situations. The first scenario shows what influence the roaming between two access points of the same network has on call quality for the mobile user. The next scenario continues on the first experiment and it shows how the RTP protocol calculates network attributes based on variables in packet headers from that first experiment. The measurements of network traffic were done in the third scenario on the same path with different codecs in order to make a comparison of their performanse. There were multiple roamings between access points during the call on the common path and the behaviour of codecs is concluded for those network conditions. The behavior of video call on the path from previous scenario is discussed in the forth scenario, and the audio and video flows are compared. Same measurements as in the third scenario are made in the last scenario with the exception of network congestion in one part of the network, from which is the comparison of codec performanse in stable and unstable network conditions obtained.

U ovom radu je analiziran način prijenosa govornog prometa unutar lokalne bežične mreže, te dio problema koji se javlja pri tom prijenosu. Prikazan je razvoj tehnologija za prijenos govornog prometa kroz povijest, kao i glavni motivi koji su to ubrzali i doveli do tehnologije koju danas koristimo. Teorijski su obrađene tehnologije koje se koriste, poput IEEE 802.11 i njenih implementacija. Istražene su najčešće korištene 802.11 tehnologije i razlike među njima, te je pokazano koje su tehnologije najbolje pri implementaciji lokane bežične mreže. Navedeni su najčešći i najbolji protokoli za svaki mrežni sloj koji se koriste u prijenosu govornog prometa i njihove značajke. Nabrojani su i najveći problemi koji uzrokuju lošu kvalitetu govorne usluge i bitne značajke za prijenos govornog prometa da bi kvaliteta razgovora putem VoIP-a bila što bolja. Obrađena je metoda pristupa mediju CSMA/CA i pokazano je kako zbog nje pri povećanom broju čvorova dolazi do većeg kašnjenja uslijed čekanja na medij. Pri simulaciji rada mreže korišten je alat «Network Simulator» verzija 2, pomoću kojeg su se dobivali rezultati iz kojih je poslije izrađena analiza. Dio problema koji je proučavan bio je vezan za kašnjenje paketa i zagušenost mreže uslijed velike količine prometa, te velikog broja čvorova. Pokazano je da bi se izbjegla velika zagušenost mreže kad imamo veći broj čvorova, bolje je naizmjenično slati promet sa čvorova, a samim time se i otklanja dodatno kašnjenje uslijed spremanja paketa u red čekanja. Za autora je korištenje alata za simulaciju bilo nepoznato otprije što je dovelo do puno istraživanja u vezi rada samog alata i pisanja skripti za simulaciju. Odlučivanje između jako velikog broja mogućnosti postavljanja parametara kako bi rezultati analize bili što bliži realnima učinilo je ovaj rad veoma zanimljivim. This thesis examins transmission of voice traffic in local wireless network and analyzes few problems that occure during that transmission. It shows voice traffic technology development during ages untill today and also bring main motives for that development. Main technologies are theoretical processed, such as IEEE 802.11 and its implementations. It shows differences between implemetations and proposes best solutions to implement wireless local area network. Main protocols in transmitting voice traffic are listed, best and most common for each network layer. Many problems that are causing bad voice traffic quality are listed and important features for good quality of conversation through VoIP. It brings up medium accessing method which causes latency in voice traffic transport, because every node has to wait its turn to transmit. For network simulation it is used «Network Simulator» version 2 and its data was used for analysis. Part of problems, which is linked to latency and congestion of network due to increased data traffic and number of nodes. To avoid big network congestion due to increased number of nodes, it is better that every node sends alternately its packets. That solution also solves extra latency which is created by storing packet in interface queue. For the author it was first time to use this kind of tool for network simulation, which meant that conveying them in this thesis required a lot of research. Deciding between many possibilities in setting up parameters to bring results closer to reality, made this thesis interesting.

U današnje vrijeme mobilne komunikacije su široko rasprostranjena tehnologija. Sve je brži razvoj mobilnih mreža novih generacija, a njihov osnovni cilj je povećati brzinu prijenosa podataka te omogućiti što bolju komunikaciju između korisnika bez obzira na okolinu u kojoj se nalaze i vrstu sadržaja kojeg međusobno dijele. U radu je evaluiran LTE-A sustav. LTE-A tehnologija predstavlja četvrtu generaciju mobilnih mreža i njen je cilj osigurati veće brzine prijenosa, poboljšati kapacitet sustava i pokrivenost, osigurati fleksibilni frekvencijski pojas, poboljšati spektralnu efikasnost te smanjiti kašnjenje. Važnu ulogu u ostvarivanju navedenih poboljšanja imaju i algoritmi dodjele radijskih resursa. Stoga je u ovome radu provedena evaluacija LTE-A sustava s obzirom na korištene algoritme za dodjelu radijskih resursa. Korišteni algoritmi su: Round Robin, Best CQI, Propoortional Fair Sun, Resource Fair i MaxMin. Također se koristila i FFR metoda koja predstavlja novi način raspodjele resursa u LTE-A sustavima. Performanse sustava su promatrane u ovisnosti o slijedećim parametrima: prosječna propusnost korisničkog uređaja, vršna propusnost korisničkog uređaja, rubna propusnost korisničkog uređaja, spektralna efikasnost korisničkog uređaja, prosječna propusnost ćelije i pravednost pri dodijeli radijskih resursa. Za evaluaciju LTE-A sustava se koristio Vienna LTE-A System Level Simulator. Nowadays, mobile communications is a widely used technology. The development of mobile communications has never been faster. The main goal of mobile communications is to increase the data throughput and to ensure the best possible quality of communication between users without taking into account the environment in which they are situated and the type of data they share. In this thesis LTE-A system was evaluated. LTE-A technology represents the forth generation of mobile communication systems. Its goal is to ensure higher data transmission speed, frequency band flexibility, to increase system capacity, coverage, spectral efficiency and to decrease latency. Radio resource management algorithms have an important role in achieving these goals. Hence, the evaluation of LTE-A system, concerning the used algorithms for radio resource management, was carried out in this thesis. The algorithms used in thesis are: Round Robin, Best CQI, Proportional Fair Sun, Resource Fair and MaxMin. Also a FFR method, which represents a new way of resource allocation in LTE-A systems was used in this thesis. System performance was observed according to the following parameters: average throughput of user equipment, peak throughput of user equipment, edge throughput of user equipment, spectral efficiency of user equipment, average cell throughput and fairness in radio resources allocation. Vienna LTE-A System Level Simulator was used for conducting evaluation of LTE-A system.

Glavna tema ovog rada je utjecaj veličine okvira na propusnost kod bežičnih lokalnih mreža. Opisuje se razvoj standarda 802.11 za bežične lokalne mreže, njihove osnovne karakteristike i međusobna usporedba, postojeći načini rada, implementacije te njihove prednosti i mane. Razmatraju se pojedini slojevi od kojih su sastavljeni WLAN-ovi, njihova međusobna interakcija te razlike koje su se morale napraviti u odnosu na žični medij. Nadalje, prikazana su teorijska razmatranja utjecaja raznih parametara na propusnost. Navedene su osnovne formule pomoću kojih se u teoriji može izračunati propusnost. Ovisnosti su prikazani grafički kako bi se čitatelju omogućio lakši uvid u problematiku. Konačno, provela su se mjerenja kako bi se teorijske tvrdnje potkrijepile stvarnim rezultatima kroz nekoliko scenarija. Opisani su alati potrebni za provedbu mjerenja. Na priloženim grafičkim prikazima čitatelj može vidjeti usporedbe u propusnosti različitih scenarija i objašnjenja zašto su ona takva. The main theme of this work is the impact of frame size on throughput in wireless local area networks. The process of standards development of basic standard for WLANs 802.11 is described, so as their main characteristics, their comparison, existing modes of operation, implementations and their pros and cons. Each of the layers that WLANs are consisted of are considered, their interaction and changes that had to be made in comparison to the standards for wired media. Moreover, theoretical analisys of the impact of various parameters on the throughput is described. Basic formulas are listed for theoretical throughput calculation. Dependencies are shown graphically so the reader can easily notice the existence of problems. Finally, measurements were made in order to confirm the theoretical analisys with practical results through various scenarios. Tools that were necessary for measurements are accounted. The comparison between each scenarios the reader can see on graphs so as the explanations of their claims.

U ovom radu opisana je problematika optimizacije povećanja propusnosti kombinacijskih mreža korištenjem evolucijskih algoritama, ponajprije genetskog algoritma. Sagledava se problematika samog postupka paralelizacije kombinacijskih mreža s obzirom na svojstva i pripadna ograničenja mreže. Opisani su razvijeni algoritmi korišteni za evaluaciju jedinki te navedeni prijedlozi mogućih drugačijih pristupa samom problemu. Ostvaren je programski sustav koji predstavlja evaluator genotipske reprezentacije rješenja koji na temelju zadane jedinke definiranim postupkom određuje vrijednost preslikane konfiguracije mreže. Evaluacijom testova uz varijabilne parametre dokazana je mogućnost ostvarenja rješenja zadanog problema ovim pristupom rješavanja. The main issue described within this bachelor’s thesis is the problem of optimizing throughput of combination networks by using evolutionary algorithms, primarily the genetic algorithm. The issue of the parallelization process of combination networks is being described with respect to the properties of given networks and the associated limitations. A description of developed algorithms used for the evaluation of individuals is given together with proposals of possible different approaches to the defined problem. A software system has been implemented for the evaluation of the genotypic representation of solutions by calculating the value of a specified configuration of a network based on a given individual. The possibility to generate solutions by using the described problem-solving approach was proved by evaluating tests with variable parameters.

Primena diverziti tehnike i majoritetnog kombinovanja paketa predstavlja jednostavno i atraktivno rešenje za kontrolu grešaka u bežičnim telekomunikacionim sistemima. Ove tehnike su posebno interesantne u paketski orijentisanim mrežama sa višestrukim putanjama i kooperativnim mrežama sa jednom ili više predajnih i prijemnih antena. Tipičan primer su bežične senzorske mreže koje često rade u ekstremno otežanim uslovima prenosa, pri čemu zahtevi za pouzdanim prenosom imaju veći prioritet od zahteva za racionalnim korišćenjem komunikacionih kapaciteta. Teorijski i aproksimativni izrazi za verovatnoću pogrešnog prenosa paketa u slučaju proizvoljnog broja kanala sa različitim verovatnoćama grešaka predstavljaju ključne parametre za procenu energetske efikasnosti senzorskih čvorova. Cilj rada: U okviru ove problematike, u tezi su postavljeni sledeći ciljevi: (i) da se dobiju teorijski izrazi za verovatnoću pogrešnog prenosa paketa u slučaju primene selektivnog i majoritetnog odlučivanja, u uslovima kada su verovatnoće grešaka različite na različitim putanjama i kada je broj mogućih paralelnih putanja proizvoljan; analitički izrazi su veoma bitni prilikom odreĎivanja optimalnog broja putanja u senzorskoj mreži sa ciljem maksimalne uštede potrošnje energije u senzorskim čvorovima, (ii) da se analizira efikasnost hibridne ARQ šeme imajući u vidu različita scenarija pristizanja paketa u odredišni čvor; naime, prisustvo prostornih putanja pri kojima su na pojedim putanjama uslovi prenosa loši, ne obezbeĎuje garantovano prepoznavanje paketa i prenos po svim putanjama, tako da se uslovi za majoritetno odlučivanje mogu obezbediti posle jedne ili više retransmisija; zbog toga, realni scenario je kombinacija prostornog i vremenskog diverzitija u korist jednog ili drugog scenarija, (iii) da se sagleda mogućnost implementacije imajući u vidu korišćenje poznatih standarda i postojećih hardverskih i softverskih rešenja koja se koriste u senzorskim mrežama; posebno težište je bilo dato modifikaciji rešenja neohodnih za implementaciju korekcije grešaka na bazi majoritetnog kombinovanja paketa... The application of diversity technique and majority packet combining is a simple and attractive solution for error control in wireless telecommunication systems. These techniques are especially interesting in packet-oriented multipath and cooperative networks with one or more transmitting and receiving antennas. A typical example is wireless sensor network which often operates in extremely harsh conditions, where requirements for reliable packet transmission have a higher priority than requirements for efficient usage of communication capacities. Theoretical and approximate expressions of packet error probabilities in the case of an arbitrary number of channels with distinct channel error probabilities are key parameters for estimation of the energy efficiency of sensor nodes. Goal of research: As part of this problem, the thesis sets the following objectives: (i) to obtain theoretical expressions for packet error probability in the case of application of selective and majority decision when the number of parallel channels is arbitrary and channel error probabilities are distinct; analitical expressions are very important in determining the optimal number of paths in a sensor network in order to achieve maximum saving of energy in sensor nodes, (ii) to analyze the throughput efficiency of a hybrid ARQ scheme, considering various scenarios of packet receiving in the destination node; namely, the presence of spatial paths, with poor transmission conditions in certain paths, does not provide guaranteed detection and transmission of frame copies via all paths, so that the conditions for majority combining may be provided after one or more retransmissions; therefore, the real scenario is a combination of space and time diversity in favor of one or the other scenario, (iii) to examine the possibility of implementation of majority combining, having in mind the known standards and the usage of existing hardware and software solutions in sensor networks; the particular focus was given to the modification of solutions required for the implementation of error correction, based on majority packet combining...

Conventional approach to pipe manufacturing process design is using capacity to satisfy maximal load for each process. In the new approach, throughput is suggested as a basic determinant aiming at finding dynamic balance among following and previous process phases. Throughput is defined by the interval of time between product exiting from the preceding process phase and its entry to the next one. Interval of time for the product delivery from the preceding phase must be less or equal as the amount of time necessary for activating the next phase. Knowing the performances of the next phase one can impact to the characteristics of the preceding phase. Throughput can be also used as a more precise way for observed process productivity measurement. Such approach is suggested and for other complex technological processes., Konvencionalni pristup projektiranju procesa izrade cijevi koristi kapacitet kako bi se zadovoljilo maksimalno opterećenje u svakom trenutku procesa. U novom se pristupu kao temeljna odrednica predlaže propusnost, koja teži iznalaženju dinamičke ravnoteže narednih i prethodnih faza procesa. Propusnost se definira međuvremenima izlaza proizvoda iz jedne faze procesa i ulaska u narednu, gdje međuvrijeme isporuke proizvoda iz promatrane faze, mora biti manje ili jednako vremenu potrebnom za aktiviranje naredne faze. Tako je moguće, poznavajući performanse narednog procesa, utjecati na karakteristike onog promatranog. Propusnost se koristi i kao precizniji način mjerenja učinkovitosti promatranog procesa. Pristup se može koristiti i za druge složene tehnološke procese.

Svako korištenje zajedničkog medija u komunikacijskim sustavima zahtijeva odgovarajući protokol koji upravlja pristupom. U optičkim mrežama temeljenim na valnom multipleksu zajednički medij predstavljaju raspoložive valne duljine. Tema ovog rada su protokoli višestrukog pristupa koji upravljaju pristupom čvorova valnim duljinama sustava. U radu su detaljno analizirana četiri pristupna protokola: I-SA (Interleaved Slotted ALOHA), I-TDMA (Interleaved Time Division Multiple Access), I-TDMA* (Interleaved Time Division Multiple Access Star) i TDMA-C (Time Division Multiple Access Collisionless). Izrađen je simulator pomoću kojega su promatrane najznačajnije karakteristike sustava: ukupna propusnost i prosječno kašnjenje okvira u sustavu. Rezultati simulacija prikazani su u obliku grafova i analizirani. Communication systems often use a shared medium. Access to that medium requires a protocol. Communication systems based on wavelength division multiplexing use many wavelengths, each representing a distinct channel. This paper examines media access control protocols for such WDM networks. The paper presents four access protocols: I-SA (Interleaved Slotted ALOHA), I-TDMA (Interleaved Time Division Multiple Access), I-TDMA* (Interleaved Time Division Multiple Access Star) and TDMA-C (Time Division Multiple Access Collisionless). The simulator has been built and used to measurs network throughputs and average packet delays. Gathered results were displayed and analyzed.

Jedan od osnovnih zadataka poboljanja djelotvornosti genetskih algoritama je skraćenje vremena izvođenja, jer je poznato da su genetski algoritmi vremenski zahtjevne optimizacijske metode. Paralelizacijom genetskog algoritma moe se značajno skratiti trajanje optimiranja na vieprocesorskom računalu. Postojeći paralelni modeli genetskih algoritama pokazali su se nepogodnima za izvođenje na vieprocesorskim računalima s operacijskim sustavom koji podrava viedretvenost. Najprimjereniji je tradicionalni model globalnih paralelnih genetskih algoritama (GPGA). Međutim, tradicionalni GPGA obavlja paralelno samo evaluaciju, dok se svi genetski operatori obavljaju sekvencijski. Povrh toga, značajan udio u potronji procesorskog vremena zauzima komunikacija između gospodara i slugu. U predloenom modelu GPGA otklonjeni su spomenuti nedostaci preraspodjelom posla između gospodara i slugu. U tradicionalnom modelu GPGA sluge samo evaluiraju jedinke, dok gospodar obavlja cijelu evolucijski proces. U novom modelu GPGA gospodar samo inicijalizira populaciju, dok sluge obavljaju cijeli evolucijski proces i evaluaciju. Osim toga, koristeći viedretvenost i zajednički radni spremnik izbjegnuti su sloeni komunikacijski mehanizmi. Uporabljena je 3-turnirska eliminacijska selekcija bez duplikata jer ona omogućuje izvođenje selekcije i reprodukcije u istom koraku, a cijeli postupak se moe na jednostavan način izvoditi paralelno koristeći viedretvenost. Za razliku od selekcije s duplikatima, selekcija bez duplikata ima inherentno ugrađeni elitizam i sprječava generiranje novih duplikata. Ostvarene su dvije verzije novog modela GPGA: sinkrona i asinkrona. U sinkronom GPGA dretve ne trebaju čekati da se oslobodi već zauzeta jedinka, nego jednostavno odabiru neku drugu sve dok ta slučajno odabrana jedinka ne bude slobodna. Genetski algoritam s turnirskom selekcijom slučajno odabire jedinke koje će sudjelovati u selekciji i reprodukciji. Koristeći to dobro svojstvo genetskog algoritma s turnirskom selekcijom izbjegava se čekanje dretve na oslobođenje zauzetog zajedničkog podatka. U asinkronom GPGA vie dretvi moe istodobno pristupati istim zajedničkim podacima. Kada se to dogodi samo će jedna dretva obavljati korisno posao, dok će ostale dretve obavljati tu iteraciju uzalud. Izračunata je vjerojatnost da dretva obavlja posao uzalud na vieprocesorskom sustavu s proizvoljnim brojem dretvi. Naime, ako je poznata ta vjerojatnost, moguće je odrediti broj dodatnih iteracija koje asinkroni GPGA treba obaviti da bi imao ista svojstva kao i sekvencijski GA. Novi model GPGA je ispitan na 38-dimenzijskom aproksimacijskom problemu. Eksperimentalno je određen optimalni skup parametara te propusnost, odnosno ubrzanje za asinkroni i sinkroni GPGA. It is a well known fact that genetic algorithms require a lot of computation power. Reducing the computational time is thus one of the basic tasks when improving efficiency of the genetic algorithms. With parallelization we can get a significant decrease in computation time on a multiprocessor system. Existing parallel models of genetic algorithms have proved not to be suitable for executing on multiprocessor computers with operating systems which support multithreading. The most appropriate model is the traditional global parallel genetic algorithm (GPGA). However, the traditional GPGA performs only evolution in parallel, while all genetic operators execute sequentially. Moreover, communication between the master and the slaves takes considerable amount of CPU time. The disadvantages mentioned above are eliminated in the proposed model of GPGA by rearranging the jobs between the master and the slaves. In the traditional model of GPGA slaves only evaluate individuals, while the master performs the whole evolution process. In the new model of GPGA the master only initializes the population, while slaves perform the whole evaluation process including evaluation. Beside that, the complex communication mechanisms are avoided by using multithreading and shared memory. The 3-tournament elimination selection without duplicates is used, because it allows to perform selection and reproduction in the same iteration and the whole process can be easily parallelised by using multithreading. Selection without duplicates has elitism inherently implemented and it disallows generating new duplicates. Two versions of the parallel model are realized: synchronous and asynchronous GPGA. In the synchronous GPGA the threads will randomly select another individual if the chosen one is already taken by some other thread. Genetic algorithm with tournament selection randomly chooses individuals for selection and reproduction. So, using that inherent characteristic of the genetic algorithm with tournament selection, the waiting will be avoided in most cases. In the asynchronous GPGA several threads can change shared data at the same time. The probability that a thread will work in vain, while several threads change the same individual, is calculated. If we want to achieve the same results as sequential GA, the asynchronous GPGA must perform some additional iterations. The number of additional iterations can be predicted and calculated as it was shown in this work. The new model of GPGA is tested on a 38-dimension approximation problem. The optimal parameter set and speedup for asynchronous and synchronous GPGA was experimentally determined.

U ovom radu razmatra se problematika analize svojstava poslovnih informacijskih mreža. Informacijske mreže moraju omogućavati prijenos prometa različitih vrsta aplikacija, od kojih višemedijske aplikacije zauzimaju sve veći dio. Stoga su razrađeni svi prometni parametri koji definiraju svojstva informacijske mreže, te su definirani osnovni načini mjerenja tih parametara. Definiran je postupak mjerenja prometnih parametara koji se odvija etapno, te su razvijeni odgovarajući programi. Razrađeni su analitički modeli za pojedine vrste prometnih tokova na temelju kojih je za eksperimentalno utvrđivanje svojstava informacijske mreže generiran sintetički promet koji predstavlja aproksimaciju realnog prometa. Proveden je i opisan postupak mjerenja parametara informacijske mreže na primjeru realne informacijske mreže HT – TK Centar Rijeka. Pokazano je da opisani postupak omogućava ocjenjivanje svojstava poslovnih informacijskih mreža, s naglaskom na prijenos višemedijskih informacija. This paper considers the problem of performance evaluation of information network. Information networks caries the traffic from various applications. Multimedia traffic is expected to be a substantial portion of network traffic. Performance metrics, which defines the performance of information network and implementation of metrics measurement process, are elaborated. Measurement methodology is developed and implemented in phases. To experimentally evaluate networks, realistic flows must be generated to emulate the actual traffic. Such empirically derived traffic source models are elaborated and implemented. Measurement experiments were conducted on information network of HT – TK Centar Rijeka. Achieved results are considered successfully as a methodology for evaluation performance of information network.

Projektiranje novoga proizvodnog procesa zadatak je koji se izvodi temeljem raznih pretpostavki uz poznata ograničenja. Rješenje je nužno rezultat složene međuovisnosti elemenata u postupku odlučivanja. Autori su prethodno predložili nov pristup projektiranju proizvodnog procesa, temeljen na propusnosti proizvodne linije, kao osnovnoj pretpostavci uravnoteženog procesa. Propusnost se pri tome definira kao skupna tehničko-proizvodna jedinica mjere koja pokazuje vremensku zauzetost odabranoga proizvodnog procesa s točno određenom mjernom jediničnom količinom obrade. U ovom je radu za provjeru i potvrdu ovih teorijskih postavki primijenjena metoda simulacijskog modeliranja. Njome je potvrđeno da takav pristup omogućava pouzdanije uspoređivanje zamjenskih tehnologija i definiranje layouta proizvodnog procesa, u odnosu na konvencionalni pristup temeljen na proizvodnom kapacitetu kao prosječnoj veličini te na nizu nedovoljno točnih pretpostavki. Vrednovanjem je ujedno potvrđeno da pristup temeljen na propusnosti umanjuje financijski rizik i osigurava zadovoljavajuću razinu kvalitete definiranoga projektnog rješenja., Any improvement from an existing fabrication technology level to a higher one is a task performed upon different assumptions and within known limitations. The solution should be the result of the interaction of complex elements derived from the decision making process. The authors have previously suggested a new approach for the definition and verification of new production line parameters based on the production process throughput as one of the critical assumptions for defining continuous workflow in the production process. Throughput is a group unit based technical production measure for expressing processing time of a particularly complex production group along the analyzed line. In this paper, for testing and evaluation of such an approach, simulation modelling has been applied. Furthermore, the proposed approach was confirmed as more suitable for defining new technologies and optimal production line layout, compared to the conventional approach, which is based on production capacity as an average category, and on many uncertain assumptions. Furthermore, the authors emphasize that the proposed approach also enables lower risk in terms of financial investments and a higher quality solution for the shipyard.
