The present article describes the main qualities and strategies of the school's Principal leadership in a school in the region of Ñuble, Chile. The analysis of the case study is carried out by using a qualitative methodology with an interpretative approach, by means of the conduction and analysis of 12 interviews and 1 focus group to different actors of the educational community. Based on the methodology proposed by the International Successful School Principalship Project (ISSPP), we address the challenges posed in the context of school management, the contributions of the school management team, the integration of students coming from different social and cultural backgrounds, and the raising of achievement levels in the school. The study concludes that the qualities and strategies that characterize the school leadership evidence a successful leadership, as demonstrated by the integration of the three types of leadership: transformational, distributed, and pedagogical. Relying on network technology, the integration of personalized learning and Internet technology has become another trending industry. This paper explores a new strategy for education management, that is, a personalized information push system based on recommendation algorithms. The system can push personalized learning resources for teachers and students and help them quickly locate interest points and learning directions by analyzing their usage history and tag attribute characteristics. The personalized information push algorithm achieves data fidelity by pre-cleaning or pre-processing the data. In addition, after the clustering algorithm is integrated into the system, its computing efficiency and mining depth are greatly improved than before. At the same time, based on collaborative filtering technology, this paper introduces information entropy and standard deviation to optimize the core algorithm, so as to distinguish the similarity between users, and further push recommendation accuracy and precision to a higher level. Finally, the existing problems in the current development of big data education management are analyzed, and future development strategies are proposed. To sum up, the personalized information recommendation system proposed in this study has a lower MAE value, so this has forward-looking significance for enhancing the depth of interactive learning and changing the inherent learning mode. Purpose: The study was designed to investigate the effects of the decentralization of education through the perceptions of education managers. Design/methodology/approach: This was a qualitative case study research. The decentralization notification of 2014, issued by the secondary education department, Government of Balochistan, Pakistan was taken as a case. Some administrative and financial powers were devolved at cluster and district levels through this notification. In pursuance of data collection, focus group discussions were conducted with 20 education managers, 20 teachers, and 5 high-ranked education policy actors. The gathered data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Findings: The study found that the intent of the decentralization move was positive, where some of the issues of teachers are now resolved at district and school levels. However, academic decentralization was utterly neglected. Furthermore, with the inclusion of district administration in the education decision-making, powers seem to be recentralized. The study concluded that decentralization should occur through a proper legislative process based on sound planning. There should be a balance between central authorities and local/district-level education management in education management and decision-making. Research limitations/implications: The study adds to the existing literature relating to education management and informs education managers, teachers, school principals, and policy actors for research-based and informed decision-making. Global challenges are an objective factor influencing the development of socio-economic and socio-political subsystems of society. The influence of this factor is not uniform, causing a different impact on every social activity sphere. The actualization of challenge to people's health risk, determined by the widespread of the COVID-19 infection in 2020, has become the cause of changes in modes of operation for most of social institutes, including that of education. To implement the national governments' decisions concerning prevention of population's infecting with COVID-19, the administrations of most European universities have refrained from teaching educational programs in the face-to-face mode and adopted the decision of applying the distance form of training. This forced step by the universities has determined the raise in stakeholders' interest in the problematics of the quality of education obtained through the distance mode of higher education. In their attempt to provide the answer concerning the potential of the distance form of training in ensuring education quality, the authors of this article have conducted a poll of 544 students from higher education establishments of Eastern Ukraine. The answers obtained were analyzed by the following aspects: comparing education quality depending on the mode of obtaining it; perspectives of applying the distance form of education at each stage of higher education; efficiency of applying the distance training instruments in the training process. On the results of analyzing the respondents' answers, recommendations and conclusions as to the state of distance education and the perspectives of its development were formulated. Besides, the article offers a classification of distance education instruments and proposes recommendations concerning their application in the training process. The article's content will be of interest not only for specialists working at agencies that ensure quality of higher education, but also for stakeholders and administrations of the universities that are planning to raise the level of their presence at the education services market on account of implementing the distance training's potentials. School level education management requires the active involvement of both school administration and the board of governors. Without board's supervisory eye, school administration may easily lapse to the detriment of education quality. How, then, did school boards execute their oversight mandate during the difficult times of COVID-19? Using a tripartite case study design, the study examined school board 'visibility' in school management during COVID-19 with focus on the ensuing education management lessons. Results showed that, during the pandemic, the visibility of different school boards varied from 'considerable' to 'no visibility' depending on certain interesting factors. It was concluded that there is no single uniform descriptor of board's visibility during an emergency such as COVID-19. Secondly, there are both materialistic and altruistic antecedents of boards' visibility levels. The study serves as a correction to the stakeholder model's excessive faith in board members' disinterested commitment to service of the common good. Purpose Efforts to improve education quality through formalization have resulted in the disorientation of pesantren education (i.e., education conducted at traditional Islamic boarding schools), and even created a dilemma in everyday life dynamics of these institutions. This study seeks to understand how the formalization process occurs in pesantren and what factors hinder the formalization of pesantren education management. This study also seeks to understand the implications of formalization for the traditions of these institutions. Methodology The study applied a descriptivequalitative approach, with data collected through observations, interviews, and document reviews Findings. This study finds that formal education management systems limit the ability of pesantren to adapt to new challenges and demands. At the same time, formalization has eroded the traditional characteristics of these institutions, including the dignity of the Kyai and the values of independence, simplicity, and submission. Pesantren have been required to transform their cultural management systems into structural ones, and their family-based leadership models into professional ones. These institutions have not rejected change but sought to accommodate it by maximizing the potential of new systems. Implications to Research and Practice Future research should consider a range of pesantren to provide a more comprehensive understanding of how the formalization of education management influences such institutions. In this study, it was aimed to examine the professional, personal and technical characteristics of Information Technologies (IT) teachers and reveal their roles in school management. For this purpose, the main problem of the study was to take the views of school administrators on the question of "What is the role of Information Technology teachers in school administration?". So, the study was carried out in accordance with the phenomenology pattern, one of the qualitative research methods, and the opinions of 8 school administrators working in the state schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in Sakarya were examined in depth with a semi-structured interview form created by the researchers. The obtained data were analyzed through content analysis. As a result, it was seen that Information Technologies teachers have an important place in effective management of the school with their professional knowledge as well as their technical knowledge. In this context, it can be said that Information Technology teachers play a facilitating role in school administration, and this is not only due to their technical knowledge but also to their professional and personal competencies. In this case, within the scope of education policies, it is considered that it is necessary to create positions in schools where Information Technologies teachers can apply their field and technical knowledge. It is thought that Information Technologies teachers will not only contribute to managerial processes, but also create environments where they can work in collaboration with other stakeholders. This article is a synthesis of documents to study the role of the sangha organization. In Thai society, Buddhist monks are in one of the main national institutions and have taken roles and responsibility in education from the past to present. This study is based on the community cultural capital theory as the fundamental for educational management for developing the future society and community in 4 aspects: 1) sangha organization and education management, 2) cultural capital and lifelong education, 3) sangha organization and learning society, and 4) educational management on the cultural capital base. The study results are useful as guidelines for the concrete practical implementation in developing the quality of the community education. The applicable concepts are proposed for managing education effectively by basing on the existing cultural capital in the communities where the schools are situated for the highest benefits from the concrete development. In this contribution we describe and reflect on the organization of Chalmers University of Technology and how it benefits education development and innovation. Chalmer's matrix organization with a buyer-supplier management model for education has proven to be a driving force for change and quality enhancement and promotes the agility necessary for implementing educational reforms in response to both internal and external impulses. We exemplify this by describing and analyzing development projects in curriculum design, education for sustainable development, entrepreneurship, and a new transformative model for flexible education. Purpose: The Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has already had a significant disruptive impact on the society, posing challenges to the provision of education across the world. Due to this crises governments over the world have temporarily closed educational institutions to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. Accordingly, educational institutions are deploying innovative emergency remote teaching (ERT) and virtual learning (VL) approaches for students to study at home. Digital technologies are being employed as a positive response to COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, this study draws on existing literature and theories of online learning and change management to provide evidence on the state of art of ERT and VL. Design/methodology/approach: This current study employs a systemic review of 53 sources to provide descriptive analysis leveraging on secondary sources from the literature and document reports on theories of online learning and change management, COVID-19, pandemic, emergency remote teaching and virtual learning. Findings: Findings from this study present the theories of online learning and change management and significance and challenges of adopting ERT and VL during the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, our findings present application platforms that are being deployed for the adoption of ERT and VL during and after COVID-19 pandemic. Lastly, the findings explore potential strategies as recommendations to be employed to improve current and future adoption of ERT and VL in educational institutions. Originality/value: This study draws on existing literature and adds to existing body of knowledge by exploring the adoption of emergency remote teaching and virtual learning during and after COVID-19 pandemic. This study provides a timely guide on the potential of emergency remote teaching and virtual learning in higher education as a response to COVID-19 crises now and into the future. This study discusses the theories of online learning and change management and also offers recommendations to educationalists and policymakers in educational institutions on addressing the crisis. This paper aims to develop a new approach to management of education in the regional economy, which is oriented at quality. Originality of this research consists in considering quality as the key landmark of management of education in the regional economy. This ensures harmonization of non-commercial and commercial function of universities. It is proved - by the example of modern Russia -- that quality should be the key landmark of management of education in the regional economy. It is determined that in 2020 quality of services of secondary vocational and higher education in Russia's regional economy has a secondary role, determinining the opportunities for employment of university graduates by 31.22% and having almost no influence on the level of their wages. The key factor of graduates' employment is the number and qualification of lecturers (48.75%). The perspectives of increase of quality of services of secondary vocational and higher education in Russia's regional economy are connected to transition to the practice-oriented model of education, active use of the network form of education, wide professional and public accreditation of educational programs by employers, and upgrade of equipment and equipment of universities. For this we offer applied recommendations, which are based on expansion of the use of the leading technologies according to the federal project of digital education, which is successfully implemented in Russia's regions and is oriented for the period until 2024. Investigating the democratic management of schools is a complex task, as it involves questioning the extent to which policies, systems and educational institutions were made, or are, democratic, considering different governments and the historical, social, economic and cultural movement of society. In this sense, we searched in the article to discuss a conception for Education management assumed between the years 1990 and 2010 in educational policies by the State Secretary of Education (SEED) in Paraná. Therefore, the study is based on the analysis of bibliographic and documental references relevant to the theme. Pointing the historic route of political constitution on democratic management frame in different moments of federal and state government, a field of disputes is noticed out, in which governing is synonymous with interests and momentary conveniences of specific groups that cover minority parcels of the population, not advancing in the formulation of a policy of democratic management for the State. It concludes that in political guidelines regarding the schools' participation and autonomy, the predominance is for managing and financial aspects. According to Lima (2011), for education, the perspective that is inscribed in economic rationality is based on the terms autonomy, decentralization and participation stripped of political meaning; that is, as technical-rational instruments. Participation means integration, collaboration and a strategy to reduce institutional conflicts, promoting cohesion and consent. Autonomy and decentralization are restricted to the functional and operational articulation between the central level and the local and institutional levels of school education. It intends to establish an organizational culture of strategic management, in which educational agents assume responsibility for the results, releasing the government from guaranteeing the necessary conditions for the realization of the right to education. This paper is inspired by the conviction that education required by the new society goes beyond the cognitive paradigm and requires progressing towards a more comprehensive education in which emotional education is an imperative. As a result of research, and based on a comprehensive interest of teacher training in Colombia and under the methodological logic of the hermeneutic circle, this article contributes to open spaces for reflection on teacher in training colleges. Teachers in South Africa experience exceptionally high levels of bullying in the workplace, in particular, bullying that relates to their profession. As research has shown that the organisational culture can either inhibit or promote bullying, in this paper we consider the possibility that neoliberalism creates an environment for workplace bullying to thrive. Based on unstructured interviews with 4 educators, we draw parallels between what they subjectively perceived as workplace bullying within the hierarchal structure of the school and school system and the ideology of neoliberalism. The objective of this study is to perform a review and contextualize the existing definitions of educational quality from the managerial point of view. We will be presenting also the factors that have been considered to support managerial decision making within educational institutions. Relevant research related to the different models for measuring educational quality and the different factors that affect this quality are discussed. The existing methodological gap of the statistical processes, the theoretical evidences and the number of investigations in every level of education are identified. The results provide a framework for future research and can become the basis for the design and construction of multidimensional models for educational management quality measurement needs of educational institutions. Background. The article draws thereaders' attention to changes - trends in particular from the environment of further school organizations, and having a significant impact on the way they function. Research aims. Review and attempt at the theoretical analysis of macro trends: economic, (post) humanities and technology, which governs or will govern education throughout the world. Attention was also paid to challenges posed by individual management perspectives. Methodology. My research is based on a literature review giving insight into the basic understanding of changes in education and on existing approaches. Key findings. The article shows that school organizations are subject to various changes initiated by various entities, including political and economic ones and this requires parallel attention to the development of humanities that will allow individuals to become "fully" human, so that entry into the world of nature, economy, technology, society, and culture can be accomplished through awareness and implementation of humanistic ideas. With the reform of the education system and the prosperity of college sports leagues, China has witnessed certain achievements in the advancement of sports talent training models and league activities. However, colleges and universities face several difficulties and restrictions in the training model and strategy, training management system, athlete management and the league organization for the basketball promotion. Therefore, the paper, by taking the teams with high-level basketball training in 30 colleges as the research object, analyzed and summarized the existing problems in the education management of college 3V3 league, and established an education management model integrating players, coaches, training management and logistics support. Finally, in line with the teaching and training principles of the Ministry of Education, this paper, proposed targeted countermeasures and suggests combined with the status quo of domestic basketball league education, to promote and improve the application and quality of the integrated education management model. Purpose Leaders in education face diverse challenges in an increasingly competitive and changing environment. Although women numerically dominate the workforce, senior managers are predominately men. The purpose of this paper is to examine leadership skills required for senior management roles in vocational education training (VET); determine if the ranking of importance of skills differs by gender and if the ranking contributes to women not advancing to senior management roles. As skills are abilities that can be developed and learned focusing on leadership skills will provide further insight into leadership and influence leadership development programs in VET to re-orientate women into senior management roles.Design/methodology/approach The methodology was based on the theoretical framework of the Leadership Skills Strataplex Model (LSSM). The model categorises leadership skills into cognitive, interpersonal, business and strategic skills and determines skill requirement based on management level. A quantitative study with data collected from an online survey completed by 100 senior managers employed in Australian VET, with an even distribution of men and women, identified leadership skills and ranked the importance of the skills. Analysis of the data was conducted using correlation test and principal factor analysis.Findings Both men and women identified that cognitive, interpersonal, business and strategic skills were required for senior management roles in VET; however, they ranked the importance of these skills differently. Men ranked business and strategic skills as the most important whilst women ranked cognitive and interpersonal skills. The findings provide insight into how gender influences leadership with men focused on task-orientated leadership skills whilst and women focused on relationship development leadership skills.Research limitations/implications The major limitation of this study was that the results were derived from the employees’ perspective and not that of the employer. However, the limitation does not detract from the overall contribution, this study makes to leadership, leadership skills and VET. The findings of this study suggest that further education leadership research is warranted as most studies are predominately focused on leadership theory with limited reference to leadership skills.Practical implications The findings of this study provide practical implications to inform VET leadership professional development programs for teachers and managers to focus on leadership skills. The difference in ranking of importance of leadership skills by men and women highlights that focusing on specific leadership skill development of cognitive, interpersonal, business and strategic skills for aspiring managers may help re-orientate women into senior management roles.Originality/value The use of the LSSM, previously used in government and higher education to identify leadership skills, the online survey as the data collection tool and quantitative analysis provides originality in the methodology rarely seen in VET education. The purpose of this two-phase study is to develop guidelines for the leadership of educational administration of the Ministry of Interior Thailand Local Administration Organization(TLAO), and to identify the confirmatory factors for a good governance education management of Ministry of Interior TLAO. In order to identify the guideline of good governance, the methodology consisted of two phases: 1. Document analysis, and 2. Interview data analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. The interview data were synthesized into four categories of good governance: general criteria qualification, specific criteria qualification, systematic administration, and outstanding performance; and these underpinned the development of the 128-item survey questionnaire. Confirmatory Factor Analysis and correlation of causal model variables were carried out using multi-stage sampling. The confirmatory factor analysis indicated four confirmatory factors: the environment, input, process, and productivity, each weighing at 0.05 significance level. This result was confirmed by c2 = 162.61, c-'/df = 0.99, df = 164, p value = 0.52, GFI = .96, AGFI = .94 and RMSEA = 0.000. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Renovation of general education in Vietnam is laying down new requirements for important secondary school administrators. From the theoretical studies on the management staff of the secondary schools, the article focuses on the factors influencing the development of secondary school administrators. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to contribute to the worldwide discussion of conceptualization, multiple functions and management of national education in an era of globalisation by proposing a new comprehensive framework for research, policy analysis and practical implementation.Design/methodology/approach Based on a review of the diversity in definitions of national education, the controversies in policy and implementation of national education are discussed. The different interpretations of national education stem from different assumptions and perspectives. Each of them seems too confining in globalisation. To overcome the controversies, this paper calls for a re-conceptualisation of national education from a broader perspective.Findings The conceptualisation of broad-based national education is premised on two fundamental principles. First, national education which is meant for development is a process by which humankind moves forward at multiple levels including the personal, local, national and global levels. Second, national education nowadays must be understood against a globalised context, in which there are multiple, complex and dynamic developments at play including technological, economic, social, political, cultural and learning developments of not only individuals and local communities within the nation but also the global world beyond the nation. In brief, broad-based education serves multiple functions at multiple levels. With national identity understood in a broader perspective, the multiplicity and complexity of national education may be better addressed. Identifying with one’s own nation is a dynamic and complicated process in which interaction and integration between the different levels and different functions of civic identities are involved. The approaches to management, implementation and pedagogy of broad-based national education are also discussed.Research limitations/implications The new framework of conceptualisation and the comparison between the characteristic profiles of broad-based and narrow-based national education provide new implications and possibilities not only for policy and implementation but also for research involving multiple functions and multiple levels.Originality/value The new perspectives associated with the broad-based national education will contribute to future research worldwide in this area. The concept of distributed leadership is presented in this article as an alternative to the hierarchical models of leadership. According to this concept, leadership is a property of groups and organizations, and is not a personality trait. Research has focused traditionally on identifying the personality traits and ideal actions of leaders, while ignoring that leadership also is manifest collectively, as a multi-level phenomenon. An overview of the various school leadership models is provided, and the concept of distributed leadership is put forth as a recent alternative to the individualistic idea of leadership. It is argued that institutional change and improvement in the modern school depend largely on collective participation in decision-making and on the existence of leadership exercised by teachers at levels other than the administrative level. One of the recent remarkable developments in education is the introduction of Information Communication Technology (ICT). The purpose of this research was to study the use of ICT in school management of Maldivian schools. Quantitative and qualitative methods are used in this study with a representative sample of school teachers/ teachers-supervisors and principals selected for the study. The findings of the research demonstrate that even though the facilities and equipment of ICT are available in some Maldivian schools, ICT is not used effectively in educational management of schools, rather they are used to some extent for daily administrative purposes of the school. The findings of the study will benefit the policy makers of developing countries, Ministry of Education, principals, teachers and other schooling education related personalities of the Maldives. The strengthening of continuing education and training for society members, especially employees, comprises an important part of the establishment of a lifelong learning system and learning society in China. This paper expounds the necessity and importance of developing continuing education in China, describes the developing status of its various types and forms, analyzes the opportunities and challenges it faces, and proposes a series of strategic suggestions regarding the strengthening of system construction and innovation in China's continuing education, covering topics such as its managerial system, incentive mechanism, nationwide participation, quality assurance, application of modern technology, assessment and review, and the exchange and connection between different types of education. The article suggests the contemporary school in its diverse contexts be regarded on the basis of teachers' work. This option is supported by studies and research done in recent years on the conditions, social implications and prospects for the teacher's work in a social context marked by capitalist relations that eventually make it precarious or unstable by increasing and imposing conditions on performance. The prospects derived from this analysis are grouped into a system known as education management; that is, recovery of the importance of teaching by working teachers who give classes and, in those classes, produce knowledge in conjunction with their students.
