Objectives: The purpose of this research is to summarize the structure of radiomics-based knowledge and to explore potential trends and priorities by using bibliometric analysis. Methods: Select radiomics-related publications from 2012 to October 2022 from the Science Core Collection Web site. Use VOSviewer (version 1.6.18), CiteSpace (version 6.1.3), Tableau (version 2022), Microsoft Excel and Rstudio's free online platforms (http://bibliometric.com) for co-writing, co-citing, and co-occurrence analysis of countries, institutions, authors, references, and keywords in the field. The visual analysis is also carried out on it. Results: The study included 6428 articles. Since 2012, there has been an increase in research papers based on radiomics. Judging by publications, China has made the largest contribution in this area. We identify the most productive institutions and authors as Fudan University and Tianjie. The top three magazines with the most publications are《FRONTIERS IN ONCOLOGY》, 《EUROPEAN RADIOLOGY》, and 《CANCERS》. According to the results of reference and keyword analysis, "deep learning, nomogram, ultrasound, f-18-fdg, machine learning, covid-19, radiogenomics" has been determined as the main research direction in the future. Conclusion: Radiomics is in a phase of vigorous development with broad prospects. Cross-border cooperation between countries and institutions should be strengthened in the future. It can be predicted that the development of deep learning-based models and multimodal fusion models will be the focus of future research. Background: The growing interest suggests that the widespread application of radiomics has facilitated the development of neurological disease diagnosis, prognosis, and classification. The application of artificial intelligence methods in radiomics has increasingly achieved outstanding prediction results in recent years. However, there are few studies that have systematically analyzed this field through bibliometrics. Our destination is to study the visual relationships of publications to identify the trends and hotspots in radiomics research and encourage more researchers to participate in radiomics studies. Methods: Publications in radiomics in the field of neurological disease research can be retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection. Analysis of relevant countries, institutions, journals, authors, keywords, and references is conducted using Microsoft Excel 2019, VOSviewer, and CiteSpace V. We analyze the research status and hot trends through burst detection. Results: On October 23, 2022, 746 records of studies on the application of radiomics in the diagnosis of neurological disorders were retrieved and published from 2011 to 2023. Approximately half of them were written by scholars in the United States, and most were published in Frontiers in Oncology, European Radiology, Cancer, and SCIENTIFIC REPORTS. Although China ranks first in the number of publications, the United States is the driving force in the field and enjoys a good academic reputation. NORBERT GALLDIKS and JIE TIAN published the most relevant articles, while GILLIES RJ was cited the most. RADIOLOGY is a representative and influential journal in the field. "Glioma" is a current attractive research hotspot. Keywords such as "machine learning," "brain metastasis," and "gene mutations" have recently appeared at the research frontier. Conclusion: Most of the studies focus on clinical trial outcomes, such as the diagnosis, prediction, and prognosis of neurological disorders. The radiomics biomarkers and multi-omics studies of neurological disorders may soon become a hot topic and should be closely monitored, particularly the relationship between tumor-related non-invasive imaging biomarkers and the intrinsic micro- environment of tumors. Background: Accurate microsatellite instability (MSI) testing is essential for identifying gastric cancer (GC) patients eligible for immunotherapy. We aimed to develop and validate a CT-based radiomics signature to predict MSI and immunotherapy outcomes in GC. Methods: This retrospective multicohort study included a total of 457 GC patients from two independent medical centers in China and The Cancer Imaging Archive (TCIA) databases. The primary cohort (n = 201, center 1, 2017–2022), was used for signature development via Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) and logistic regression analysis. Two independent immunotherapy cohorts, one from center 1 (n = 184, 2018–2021) and another from center 2 (n = 43, 2020–2021), were utilized to assess the signature's association with immunotherapy response and survival. Diagnostic efficiency was evaluated using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), and survival outcomes were analyzed via the Kaplan-Meier method. The TCIA cohort (n = 29) was included to evaluate the immune infiltration landscape of the radiomics signature subgroups using both CT images and mRNA sequencing data. Results: Nine radiomics features were identified for signature development, exhibiting excellent discriminative performance in both the training (AUC: 0.851, 95%CI: 0.782, 0.919) and validation cohorts (AUC: 0.816, 95%CI: 0.706, 0.926). The radscore, calculated using the signature, demonstrated strong predictive abilities for objective response in immunotherapy cohorts (AUC: 0.734, 95%CI: 0.662, 0.806; AUC: 0.724, 95%CI: 0.572, 0.877). Additionally, the radscore showed a significant association with PFS and OS, with GC patients with a low radscore experiencing a significant survival benefit from immunotherapy. Immune infiltration analysis revealed significantly higher levels of CD8 + T cells, activated CD4 + B cells, and TNFRSF18 expression in the low radscore group, while the high radscore group exhibited higher levels of T cells regulatory and HHLA2 expression. Conclusion: This study developed a robust radiomics signature with the potential to serve as a non-invasive biomarker for GC's MSI status and immunotherapy response, demonstrating notable links to post-immunotherapy PFS and OS. Simple Summary: The noninvasive differentiation of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) from intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) remains challenging. In recent years, the number of studies on the application of radiomics in liver cancer has grown dramatically. However, there have been very few studies on the differentiation of HCC from ICC based on multisequence magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) radiomics. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of a radiomics model based on pretherapeutic fat suppression T2-weighted imaging (FS-T2WI) and dynamic-contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI) features obtained from the arterial phase (AP) and portal venous phase (PVP) for noninvasively differentiating HCC from ICC. The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficacy of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) radiomics in differentiating hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) from intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC). The clinical and MRI data of 129 pathologically confirmed HCC patients and 48 ICC patients treated at the Affiliated Hospital of North Sichuan Medical College between April 2016 and December 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were randomly divided at a ratio of 7:3 into a training group of 124 patients (90 with HCC and 34 with ICC) and a validation group of 53 patients (39 with HCC and 14 with ICC). Radiomic features were extracted from axial fat suppression T2-weighted imaging (FS-T2WI) and axial arterial-phase (AP) and portal-venous-phase (PVP) dynamic-contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI) sequences, and the corresponding datasets were generated. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) method was used to select the best radiomic features. Logistic regression was used to establish radiomic models for each sequence (FS-T2WI, AP and PVP models), a clinical model for optimal clinical variables (C model) and a joint radiomics model (JR model) integrating the radiomics features of all the sequences as well as a radiomics–clinical model combining optimal radiomic features and clinical risk factors (RC model). The performance of each model was evaluated using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC). The AUCs of the FS-T2WI, AP, PVP, JR, C and RC models for distinguishing HCC from ICC were 0.693, 0.863, 0.818, 0.914, 0.936 and 0.977 in the training group and 0.690, 0.784, 0.727, 0.802, 0.860 and 0.877 in the validation group, respectively. The results of this study suggest that MRI-based radiomics may help noninvasively differentiate HCC from ICC. Objectives: Radiomics is the high-throughput extraction of mineable and—possibly—reproducible quantitative imaging features from medical imaging. The aim of this work is to perform an unbiased bibliometric analysis on Radiomics 10 years after the first work became available, to highlight its status, pitfalls, and growing interest. Methods: Scopus database was used to investigate all the available English manuscripts about Radiomics. R Bibliometrix package was used for data analysis: a cumulative analysis of document categories, authors affiliations, country scientific collaborations, institution collaboration networks, keyword analysis, comprehensive of co-occurrence network, thematic map analysis, and 2021 sub-analysis of trend topics was performed. Results: A total of 5623 articles and 16,833 authors from 908 different sources have been identified. The first available document was published in March 2012, while the most recent included was released on the 31st of December 2021. China and USA were the most productive countries. Co-occurrence network analysis identified five words clusters based on top 50 authors' keywords: Radiomics, computed tomography, radiogenomics, deep learning, tomography. Trend topics analysis for 2021 showed an increased interest in artificial intelligence (n = 286), nomogram (n = 166), hepatocellular carcinoma (n = 125), COVID-19 (n = 63), and X-ray computed (n = 60). Conclusions: Our work demonstrates the importance of bibliometrics in aggregating information that otherwise would not be available in a granular analysis, detecting unknown patterns in Radiomics publications, while highlighting potential developments to ensure knowledge dissemination in the field and its future real-life applications in the clinical practice. Background: With the continuous development of medical imaging informatics technology, radiomics has become a new and evolving field in medical applications. Radiomics aims to be an aid to support clinical decision making by extracting quantitative features from medical images and has a very wide range of applications. The purpose of this study was to perform a bibliometric and visual analysis of scientific results and research trends in the research application of radiomics in glioma. Methods: We searched the Web of Science Core Collection (WOScc) for publications related to glioma radiomics. A bibliometric and visual analysis of online publications in this field related to countries/regions, authors, journals, references and keywords was performed using CiteSpace and R software. Results: A total of 587 relevant literature published from 2012 to September 2022 were retrieved in WOScc, and finally a total of 484 publications were obtained according to the filtering criteria, including 393 (81.20%) articles and 91 (18.80%) reviews. The number of relevant publications increases year by year. The highest number of publications was from the USA (171 articles, 35.33%) and China (170 articles, 35.12%). The research institution with the highest number of publications was Chinese Acad Sci (24), followed by Univ Penn (22) and Fudan Univ (21). WANG Y (27) had the most publications, followed by LI Y (22), and WANG J (20). Among the 555 co-cited authors, LOUIS DN (207) and KICKINGEREDER P (207) were the most cited authors. FRONTIERS IN ONCOLOGY (42) was the most published journal and NEURO-ONCOLOGY (412) was the most co-cited journal. The most frequent keywords in all publications included glioblastoma (187), survival (136), classification (131), magnetic resonance imaging (113), machine learning (100), tumor (82), and feature (79), central nervous system (66), IDH (57), and radiomics (55). Cluster analysis was performed on the basis of keyword cooccurrence, and a total of 16 clusters were formed, indicating that these directions are the current hotspots of radiomics research applications in glioma and may be the future directions of continuous development. Conclusion: In the past decade, radiomics has received much attention in the medical field and has been widely used in clinical research applications. Cooperation and communication between countries/regions need to be enhanced in future research to promote the development of radiomics in the field of medicine. In addition, the application of radiomics has improved the accuracy of pre-treatment diagnosis, efficacy prediction and prognosis assessment of glioma and helped to promote the development into precision medicine, the future still faces many challenges. Objectives: Post-stroke epilepsy (PSE) is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to develop and validate a novel prediction model combining clinical factors and radiomics features to accurately identify patients at high risk of developing PSE after intracerebral haemorrhage (ICH). Methods: Researchers performed a retrospective medical chart review to extract derivation and validation cohorts of patients with first-ever ICH that attended two tertiary hospitals in China between 2010 and 2020. Clinical data were extracted from electronic medical records and supplemented by tele-interview. Predictive clinical variables were selected by multivariable logistic regression to build the clinical model. Predictive radiomics features were identified, and a Rad-score was calculated according to the coefficient of the selected feature. Both clinical variables and radiomic features were combined to build the radiomics-clinical model. Performances of the clinical, Rad-score, and combined models were compared. Results: A total of 1571 patients were included in the analysis. Cortical involvement, early seizures within 7 days of ICH, NIHSS score, and ICH volume were included in the clinical model. Rad-score, instead of ICH volume, was included in the combined model. The combined model exhibited better discrimination ability and achieved an overall better benefit against threshold probability than the clinical model in the decision curve analysis (DCA). Conclusions: The combined radiomics-clinical model was better able to predict ICH-associated PSE compared to the clinical model. This can help clinicians better predict an individual patient's risk of PSE following a first-ever ICH and facilitate earlier PSE diagnosis and treatment. Currently, the prognosis assessment of stage II colorectal cancer (CRC) remains a difficult clinical problem; therefore, more accurate prognostic predictors must be developed. In our study, we developed a prognostic prediction model for stage II CRC by fusing radiomics and deep‐learning (DL) features of primary lesions and peripheral lymph nodes (LNs) in computed tomography (CT) scans. First, two CT radiomics models were built using primary lesion and LN image features. Subsequently, an information fusion method was used to build a fusion radiomics model by combining the tumor and LN image features. Furthermore, a transfer learning method was applied to build a deep convolutional neural network (CNN) model. Finally, the prediction scores generated by the radiomics and CNN models were fused to improve the prognosis prediction performance. The disease‐free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) prediction areas under the curves (AUCs) generated by the fusion model improved to 0.76 ± 0.08 and 0.91 ± 0.05, respectively. These were significantly higher than the AUCs generated by the models using the individual CT radiomics and deep image features. Applying the survival analysis method, the DFS and OS fusion models yielded concordance index (C‐index) values of 0.73 and 0.9, respectively. Hence, the combined model exhibited good predictive efficacy; therefore, it could be used for the accurate assessment of the prognosis of stage II CRC patients. Moreover, it could be used to screen out high‐risk patients with poor prognoses, and assist in the formulation of clinical treatment decisions in a timely manner to achieve precision medicine. Objective: Low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein-1 (LRP-1) and survivin are associated with radiotherapy resistance in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC). This study aimed to evaluate the value of a radiomics model based on dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) for the preoperative assessment of LRP-1 and survivin expressions in these patients. Methods: One hundred patients with pathologically confirmed LARC who underwent DCE-MRI before surgery between February 2017 and September 2021 were included in this retrospective study. DCE-MRI perfusion histogram parameters were calculated for the entire lesion using post-processing software (Omni Kinetics, G.E. Healthcare, China), with three quantitative parameter maps. LRP-1 and survivin expressions were assessed by immunohistochemical methods and patients were classified into low- and high-expression groups. Results: Four radiomics features were selected to construct the LRP-1 discrimination model. The LRP-1 predictive model achieved excellent diagnostic performance, with areas under the receiver operating curve (AUCs) of 0.853 and 0.747 in the training and validation cohorts, respectively. The other four radiomics characteristics were screened to construct the survivin predictive model, with AUCs of 0.780 and 0.800 in the training and validation cohorts, respectively. Decision curve analysis confirmed the clinical usefulness of the radiomics models. Conclusion: DCE-MRI radiomics models are particularly useful for evaluating LRP-1 and survivin expressions in patients with LARC. Our model has significant potential for the preoperative identification of patients with radiotherapy resistance and can serve as an essential reference for treatment planning. Background: The determination of HER2 expression status contributes significantly to HER2-targeted therapy in breast carcinoma. However, an economical, efficient, and non-invasive assessment of HER2 is lacking. We aimed to develop a clinicoradiomic nomogram based on radiomics scores extracted from multiparametric MRI (mpMRI, including ADC-map, T2W1, DCE-T1WI) and clinical risk factors to assess HER2 status.Methods: We retrospectively collected 214 patients with pathologically confirmed invasive ductal carcinoma between January 2018 to March 2021 from Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center, and randomly divided this cohort into training set (n = 128, 42 HER2-positive and 86 HER2-negative cases) and validation set (n = 86, 28 HER2-positive and 58 HER2-negative cases) at a ratio of 6:4. The original and transformed pretherapy mpMRI images were treated by semi-automated segmentation and manual modification on the DeepWise scientific research platform v1.6 ( http://keyan.deepwise.com/ ), then radiomics feature extraction was implemented with PyRadiomics library. Recursive feature elimination (RFE) based on logistic regression (LR) and LASSO regression were adpoted to identify optimal features before modeling. LR, Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA), support vector machine (SVM), random forest (RF), naive Bayesian (NB) and XGBoost (XGB) algorithms were used to construct the radiomics signatures. Independent clinical predictors were identified through univariate logistic analysis (age, tumor location, ki-67 index, histological grade, and lymph node metastasis). Then, the radiomics signature with the best diagnostic performance (Rad score) was further combined with significant clinical risk factors to develop a clinicoradiomic model (nomogram) using multivariate logistic regression. The discriminative power of the constructed models were evaluated by AUC, DeLong test, calibration curve, and decision curve analysis (DCA).Results: 70 (32.71%) of the enrolled 214 cases were HER2-positive, while 144 (67.29%) were HER2-negative. Eleven best radiomics features were retained to develop 6 radiomcis classifiers in which RF classifier showed the highest AUC of 0.887 (95%CI: 0.827-0.947) in the training set and acheived the AUC of 0.840 (95%CI: 0.758-0.922) in the validation set. A nomogram that incorporated the Rad score with two selected clinical factors (Ki-67 index and histological grade) was constructed and yielded better discrimination compared with Rad score (p = 0.374, Delong test), with an AUC of 0.945 (95%CI: 0.904-0.987) in the training set and 0.868 (95%CI: 0.789-0.948; p = 0.123) in the validation set. Moreover, calibration with the p-value of 0.732 using Hosmer-Lemeshow test demonstrated good agreement, and the DCA verified the benefits of the nomogram.Conclusion: Post largescale validation, the clinicoradiomic nomogram may have the potential to be used as a non-invasive tool for determination of HER2 expression status in clinical HER2-targeted therapy prediction. Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has emerged as a global pandemic. According to the diagnosis and treatment guidelines of China, negative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) is the key criterion for discharging COVID-19 patients. However, repeated RT-PCR tests lead to medical waste and prolonged hospital stays for COVID-19 patients during the recovery period. Our purpose is to assess a model based on chest computed tomography (CT) radiomic features and clinical characteristics to predict RT-PCR negativity during clinical treatment. Methods: From February 10 to March 10, 2020, 203 mild COVID-19 patients in Fangcang Shelter Hospital were retrospectively included (training: n = 141; testing: n = 62), and clinical characteristics were collected. Lung abnormalities on chest CT images were segmented with a deep learning algorithm. CT quantitative features and radiomic features were automatically extracted. Clinical characteristics and CT quantitative features were compared between RT-PCR-negative and RT-PCR-positive groups. Univariate logistic regression and Spearman correlation analyses identified the strongest features associated with RT-PCR negativity, and a multivariate logistic regression model was established. The diagnostic performance was evaluated for both cohorts. Results: The RT-PCR-negative group had a longer time interval from symptom onset to CT exams than the RT-PCR-positive group (median 23 vs. 16 days, p < 0.001). There was no significant difference in the other clinical characteristics or CT quantitative features. In addition to the time interval from symptom onset to CT exams, nine CT radiomic features were selected for the model. ROC curve analysis revealed AUCs of 0.811 and 0.812 for differentiating the RT-PCR-negative group, with sensitivity/specificity of 0.765/0.625 and 0.784/0.600 in the training and testing datasets, respectively. Conclusion: The model combining CT radiomic features and clinical data helped predict RT-PCR negativity during clinical treatment, indicating the proper time for RT-PCR retesting. Background: Sarcopenia has been confirmed as a poor prognostic indicator of lung cancer. However, the lack of abdominal computed tomography (CT) hindered the application to assess the status of sarcopenia. The purpose of this study was to assess the ability of chest CT radiomics combined with machine learning classifiers to identify sarcopenia in advanced non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. Methods: This study retrospectively analyzed CT images of 99 patients with NSCLC. Skeletal muscle radiomics were extracted from a single axial slice of the chest CT scan at the 12th thoracic vertebrae level. In total, 854 radiomic and clinical features were obtained from each patient. Feature selection was conducted with FeatureSelector module, optimal key features were fed into the lightGBM classifier for model construction, and Bayesian optimization was adopted to tune hyperparameters. The model's performance was evaluated by specificity, sensitivity, accuracy, precision, F1‐score, Matthew's correlation coefficient (MCC), Cohen's kappa coefficient (Kappa), and AUC. Results: A total of 40 patients were found to have sarcopenia. Five optimal features were selected. In the base lightGBM model, the specificity, sensitivity, accuracy, precision, F1‐score, AUC, MCC, Kappa of validation set were 0.889, 0.750, 0.833, 0.818, 0.783, 0.819, 0.649, 0.648, respectively. After Bayesian hyperparameter tuning, the optimized lightGBM model achieved better prediction performance, and the corresponding values were 0.944, 0.833, 0.900, 0.909, 0.870, 0.889, 0.791, 0.789, respectively. Conclusions: Chest CT‐based radiomics has the potential to identify sarcopenia in NSCLC patients with the lightGBM classifier, and the optimal lightGBM model via Bayesian hyperparameter tuning demonstrated better performance.
