The use of 1H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol (H2trzS) has led to a rare inorganic-organic hybrid supramolecular nanotube built from novel Ni5-substituted polyoxotungstates, which presents interesting structural characteristics, high chemical stability, and proton-conducting properties.

An oxalate-assisted strategy was first developed for creating new polyoxotantalates (POTas). With this strategy, two brand-new POTa supramolecular frameworks based on uncommon dimeric POTa secondary building units (SBUs) were constructed and characterized. Interestingly, the oxalate ligand can not only serve as a coordination ligand to form unique POTa SBUs but also act as a key hydrogen bond acceptor to construct supramolecular architectures. This work demonstrates a feasible strategy for the synthesis of new zeolite-like framework materials. With the strategy of using two different supertetrahedral clusters as secondary building units, two new heterometallic zeolite-like frameworks with isomeric structures but tunable topologies were first made. Two novel inorganic–organic hybrid 3D TM–Ln incorporated POM-based frameworks, H2[Cu2OL3(H2O)2][Ce(L)(H2O)3(PW11O39)]·17H2O (1) and H4[CuL3]2[Ln(H2O)3(PW11O39)]2·28H2O (2) (L = 4,4′-bipyridine), were hydrothermally synthesized at different temperatures. Structural analysis reveals that both compounds are constructed from [Ln(PW11O39)]4− polyoxoanions and different copper complexes. Interestingly, in compound 1, 2D copper complex layers and 1D chain [Ln(PW11O39)]4− polyoxoanions interconnect to form a 3D framework. In contrast, in compound 2, 1D copper complex chains join the 2D [Ln(PW11O39)]4− layers to give rise to a 3D framework. Both compounds exhibit excellent chemical stability. Furthermore, the dye adsorption and proton conduction properties of both compounds were also investigated. The conductivities of 1 and 2 are 3.175 × 10−4 S cm−1 and 1.750 × 10−4 S cm−1 at 85 °C and 98% RH, respectively. Dye adsorption studies indicate that they can selectively adsorb cationic dyes MB, CV and BR over anionic dyes MO, AO and large cationic RhB. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Polyoxometalate (POM) macrocycles have been extensively investigated due to their potential applications in various fields, including sensing, optics, magnetism, proton conduction, catalysis, and host–guest chemistry, leveraging the advantages offered by their unique wheeled structures. In this review, the recent progress of POM macrocycles, including their assembly strategies, crystal structures, properties, and various applications, is reviewed. Two new inorganic-organic hybrid polyoxotantalates (POTas), H 2 [Co(en) 3 ] 3 Ta 6 O 19 (1) and Na 2 (H 2 O) 6 H 2 [Co(en) 3 ] 2 Ta 6 O 19 (2) (en ​= ​ethylenediamine) have been hydrothermally synthesized by using the phosphate buffer solution (Na 3 PO 4 /Na 2 HPO 4 , pH ​= ​12.36) as reaction medium. Notably, both compounds are built from anionic [Ta 6 O 19 ]8− clusters and [Co(en) 3 ]2+ complexes, showing good stability. Moreover, it is demonstrated that both compounds exhibit moderate proton conduction properties. Two new proton-conductive inorganic-organic hybrid polyoxotantalates (POTas), have been hydrothermally synthesized by using the phosphate buffer solution (Na 3 PO 4 /Na 2 HPO 4 , pH ​= ​12.36) as reaction medium, demonstrating a promising strategy for developing new functional POTa materials. Two new hollow 3D tubular polyoxoniobate frameworks are built from { SiNb 18 O 54 } clusters, copper-organic complexes and helical heterometallic Ba 2 K 4 O 13 / Ba 2 NaO 7 cluster chains.
