The current paper touches up the reasons of difficulties that the English-speaking Learners of Arabic face in the pronunciation of some phonemes. The author explains this phenomenon through the description of the mechanism of formation of similar sounds in Arabic and English and the problematic sounds for English-speaking Learners. She also gives a brief comparative analysis of Arabic and English phonemes that are mistakenly perceived by students as identical. This paper also analyzes the challenges of English-speaking Learners related to the pronunciation of Arabic phonemes that are absent in English. In addition to the theoretical part, the article contains practical recommendations aimed at solving the difficulties associated with the setting up the correct pronunciation of this category of students. In addition to the exercises targeted at setting up the correct pronunciation, the author provides the lesson plan, containing various activities for resolving this issueThis work also briefly highlights issues related to the uneasy situation in the field of teaching pronunciation as one of the aspects of learning Arabic in the United States.

This article presents a theoretical view on embedded cultural thinking and action in encounters between patient and health professional. A key point of the analysis indicates that a highly efficient health sector may entail an implicit duality. On the one hand, the health professional can and often must relate pragmatically to the patient in order to solve problems and also solve them quickly, while on the other hand, the professional can be personally challenged when cultural thinking leads to conflicts or dilemmas. This means that a purely pragmatic perspective will be challenged when such conflicts occur. In the article we look into interrelated dimensions such as “culture,” “prejudice” and “meaning” in order to shed light on the presuppositions of the cultural encounter between patient and health professional. This kind of analysis will contribute to a raised awareness of what is actually – apart from pragmatic problem solving – going on in such encounters. The conceptual framework used in this article primarily draws on the German philosopher Hans-Georg Gadamer contrasted by a pragmatic perspective from the American philosopher Richard Rorty. The verticals of 5G, such as the automotive, smart grid, and smart cities sectors, will bring new sensors and IoT devices requiring Internet connectivity. Most of these machine-type terminals will be sparsely distributed, covering a very large geographical area and, from time to time, will have to update their software, firmware, and/or other relevant data. Given this situation, one viable solution to implement the “Over-the-Air” update of these IoT terminals can be done with the aid of GEO satellite systems. However, due to the ultra-dense radio frequency reuse factor that contemporary High-Throughput Satellite (HTS) systems implement in the access link to serve the IoT terminals, the use of a time-packed Free Space Optical (FSO) link represents a practical solution to avoid the bottleneck that the satellite gateway experiences in the feeder link. The performance of both Detect-and-Forward and Decode-and-Forward relaying strategies are studied, assuming that the single-carrier M-PAM symbols that are transmitted on the optical feeder link are mapped into M-QAM symbols that modulate the multiple sub-carriers of the OFDM-based radio access link. In addition, the benefits of encapsulating the NB-IoT frames into DVB-S2(X) satellite frames is also analyzed in detail. The effects of the impairments introduced in both the optical feeder and radio access links are characterized in detail, and the end-to-end error correction capabilities of the Modulation and Coding Schemes (MCS) defined in the contemporary releases of the NB-IoT and DVB-S2(X) standards are studied for different working regimes. © 2021 by the authors. Scrubbers are widely used for air pollution treatment in semiconductor. Efficiency of waste gas treatment must be carefully maintained for environmental and health issue. However, due to the complex types of exhaust system and the needs of using chemicals with different characteristics at the same time in the semiconductor process, many conditions will occur in the operation of the scrubber tower and the processing efficiency will be reduced. This paper aims at the common problems such as growth of bacteria, unstable pH, white smoke, and inaccurate monitoring of exhaust gas flow rate. Based on the investigation, all the analysis, results and solutions are provided as practical reference for other semiconductor companies. The meaning of lifestyle in economic interactions is the kind of Islamic teachings that the society follows in its economic life and solving its economic problems. The economic discourse of Islam is not separate from its ethical discourse, and the two of the discourses are completely interrelated. This interrelation by itself is one of the most important features of Islamic economics.In the field of economic interactions, Imam Sajjad (A.S.) considers commitment to some insights, thoughts and beliefs necessary for activating Islam’s rulings in the field of economics. Some of these insights and beliefs include believing in God’s justice in spreading His blessings, the necessity of satisfaction with divine ordinance, earning wealth being one of the most important areas of human examination, etc.Multiple practical solutions could be found in the prayers of al-Sahifah al-Sajjadiah, including thanksgiving, preserving dignity and self-respect, acquiring lawful wealth, leaning toward Quran for increasing God’s blessings, moderation in costs and avoiding debts, etc. The research method in this article is descriptive, analytical and text-based; and the goal is to explain the principles and methods of economic interactions based on the prayers of al-Sahifah al-Sajjadiah.

Now a days construction labour productivity plays very important role in all projects. Labour productivity effects on contractor, sub-contractor and owner also. There are number of factors affecting labour productivity on any construction sites. So in this project we have suggested number of practical solutions to increase labour productivity. Questionnaires survey was conducted for top ranked important factors which are affecting labour productivity and experts solutions were collected from the survey to improve labour productivity on site. First of all, on site labour productivity is calculated; at the same time factors affecting labour productivity are identified. We found some practical solutions and these were implemented on site to improve labour productivity. After implementation of solutions, it was observed that, labour productivity is increased. Procjenjuje se da je između 50 i 125 milijuna Europljana energetski ugroženo. Neke europske države već su poduzele mjere za borbu protiv energetskog siromaštva. Stoga je u ovome radu napravljen pregled uspješnih praktičnih akcija nekih država, usmjerenih na borbu protiv energetskog siromaštva, koje se odnose na povećanje energetske učinkovitosti. Također, izneseni su podaci o energetskom siromaštvu u Hrvatskoj te je napravljena analiza rezultata. Na kraju je analizirana primjenjivost navedenih akcija u Hrvatskoj. Budući da u Hrvatskoj nije jasno definirano energetsko siromaštvo, zaključuje se da bi se mjere trebale provoditi na lokalnoj razini te uz financijsku pomoć iz Europskih fondova. It is estimated that between 50 and 125 million Europeans are energy poor. Some European countries have already taken measures to tackle energy poverty. Therefore, this paper gives an overview of successful practical actions that some countries overtook to tackle energy poverty, with emphasis on increasing energy efficiency. Also presented are data on energy poverty in Croatia and an analysis of the results. Finally, the applicability of the listed actions in Croatia was analyzed. Since energy poverty is not exactly defined, it is concluded that measures should be implemented at the local level and with financial assistance from European funds.

In this short paper, we analyze different privacy threats and propose simple countermeasures for the generic architecture mainly used in the literature. In particular, we present and evaluate a new practical solution against a critical attack of a malicious medical center trying to actively infer raw genetic information of patients. © 2015 IEEE.

The article discusses the problem of teaching Polish as a heritage language, outside of Poland and when the number of teaching hours is limited. In such a situation it is worthwhile to integrate subsystems and language skills as well as combining the curricula of a range of subjects. This eclectic approach seems to be effective here. The approach is described not as a set of random actions, but as well-thought out and coherent procedures. The article uses the example of Barańczak’s Garden party to present how different techniques can be applied in teaching. It also underlines the necessity of using different media, which makes language education more modern and more attractive.

Resilient design necessitates a paradigm shift with respect to the methods historically used in system design. The basic of resilient design requires concepts of redundancy, resourcesfulness, diversity and defence in depth that were once only considered for reliability and now can be broadened for application to all measures. Applying control principles to improve resilience assessment of systems is a new field which has not been explored yet. A resilience decision support system should include some critical elements: (i) Assess risk, (ii) identify choiches (Identify choices for reducing vulnerability that focus on joint solutions across social, economic, and ecological systems; provide decision support, including Web-based guidance and scenarios to assess options) and (iii) take actions (Help communities develop and implement solutions). The field of structural control provides loops which are able to approach the problem in a more rational way and provide practical solutions to the resilience design strategies. The paper describes the concept and provides an application of the proposed interdisciplinary approach.

In agent research, emergent narrative aims for practical solutions to the narrative paradox problem in both drama and interactive scenarios. At the same time, organisational frameworks can be used in games to provide flexibility, adaptiveness, or social-awareness. In this paper, we propose an extension of our cOncienS framework to support emergent narrative in games with two objectives: 1) provide social-awareness in emergent narrative by means of an organisational model, and 2) create convincing dynamic and flexible storytelling in games.

International audience; Quantification of the effects of combined variations of building and system parameters on energy consumption requires a large number of simulations and time-consuming analysis of obtained results. The use of experimental designs is a practical solution to this problem. The experimental designs are used to express the energy consumption of a building by a polynomial expression which represents the effects and interactions of different parameters. The polynomial models derived from an energy consumption simulation tool are highly precise in their predictive ability with respect to the tool itself. In this report, the resulting non-dimensional models of different building types in different climates are created and assembled in a database. This database is a fast tool for selection and comparison of technical solutions by designers and contractors. These experimental models are useful for consulting and assistance with decision making and are easily expandable for techno-economical optimization.

A recent exploitation technique, called Return-Oriented Programming (ROP), has lately attracted a considerable attention from academia. Past research on the topic has mostly focused on refining the original attack technique, or on proposing partial solutions that target only particular variants of the attack. In this paper, we present G-Free, a compiler-based approach that represents the first practical solution against any possible form of ROP. Our solution is able to eliminate all unaligned free-branch instructions inside a binary executable, and to protect the aligned free-branch instructions to prevent them from being misused by an attacker. We developed a prototype based on our approach, and evaluated it by compiling GNU libc and a number of real-world applications. The results of the experiments show that our solution is able to prevent any form of return-oriented programming. © 2010 ACM.

We describe relay attacks on Bluetooth authentication protocol. The aim of these attacks is impersonation. The attacker does not need to guess or obtain a common secret known to both victims in order to set up these attacks, merely to relay the information it receives from one victim to the other during the authentication protocol run. Bluetooth authentication protocol allows such a relay if the victims do not hear each other. Such a setting is highly probable. We analyze the attacks for several scenarios and propose practical solutions. Moreover, we simulate attacks to make sure about their feasibility. These simulations show that current Bluetooth specifications do not have defensive mechanisms for relay attacks. However, relay attacks create a significant partial delay during the connection that might be useful for detection. © Springer-Verlag 2004.

The usage of modern information technologies will be successful only if information system development is aligned with business system development strategy. This way we can maximise support to business processes. Such approach is usually regarded as strategic planning of information system (SPIS). There is no unified methodology, which could be applied while performing SPIS. We have several methods, techniques and templates that should be inventively integrated to develop optimal approach to IS development for each particular business system. This paper presents how this integration could be performed to obtain consistent methodology. Such methodology has been applied to six large - scale projects in very different business systems. This way theoretical approach was confirmed and extended by new experiences presented in this article.
