Phylosymbiosis is defined as the relationship in which the microbiome recapitulates the phylogeny of the host and has been demonstrated in a variety of terrestrial organisms, although it has been understudied in fish, the most phylogenetically diverse vertebrate. Given that the species-specificity of fish microbiomes was detected in multiple body parts and differed by body parts, we assumed that the phylogenetic reflection of the microbiome would differ across body parts. Thus, we analyze the difference of phylosymbiotic relationships in the microbial communities found in three body parts (skin, gills, and intestine) of seven wild fish species from four families (Labridae, Sebastidae, Sparidae, and Rajidae) via 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing. Fishes were purchased at Docheon port market in Tongyeong City, Korea and were transported to nearby research institutes for aliveness. Mantel tests using dissimilarity values of microbiomes and hosts' divergence times showed that the differences in microbial communities in all three body parts were related to the hosts' divergence time. This pattern was the most pronounced in the skin. Furthermore, fishes from the same family showed similar bacterial compositions on their skins and gills, with clear differences depending on the family, with the exception of Labridae. These results suggest that the skin microbiome is particularly vulnerable to evolutionary pressures. We hypothesized that the evolution of the fish immune system and the difference in feeding habits induced the stronger phylosymbiotic signal in the skin. A Gram-stain-negative, facultatively anaerobic, rod-shaped (1.8-4.4×0.5-0.7 µm) and motile marine bacterium, designated as MEBiC13590 T , was isolated from tidal flat sediment sampled at Incheon City, on the west coast of the Republic of Korea. The 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that strain MEBiC13590 T showed high similarity to Oricola cellulosilytica CC-AMH-0 T (98.2 %), followed by Oceaniradius stylonematis StC1 T (97.5 %); however, it clustered with Oricola cellulosilytica . The phylogenomic tree inferred by the up-to-date bacterial core gene set suggested that strain MEBiC13590 T shared a phyletic line with Oricola cellulosilytica . Average nucleotide identity and digital DNA-DNA hybridization values (75.0 and 19.3 %, respectively) between strain MEBiC13590 T and Oricola cellulosilytica CC-AMH-0 T were below the respective species delineation cutoffs. Growth was observed at 22-50 °C (optimum, 45 °C), at pH 5-9 (optimum, pH 7) and with 1-6 % (optimum, 3 %) NaCl. The predominant cellular fatty acids were C 16 : 0 (7.6 %), C 18 : 0 (12.2 %), 11-methyl C 18 : 1  ω7 c (5.7 %), C 19 : 0 cyclo ω6 c and summed feature 8 (comprising C 18 : 1  ω7 c and/or C 18 : 1  ω6 c ; 38 %). The DNA G+C content was 63.5 mol%. The major respiratory quinone was Q-10. Several phenotypic characteristics such as growth temperature, oxygen requirement, enzyme activities of urease, gelatinase, lipase (C 14 ), α-chymotrypsin, acid phosphatase, β-galactosidase, β-glucosidase etc. differentiate strain MEBiC13590 T from Oricola cellulosilytica CC-AMH-0 T . Based on this polyphasic taxonomic data, strain MEBiC13590 T should be classified as representing a novel species in the genus Oricola for which the name Oricola thermophila sp. nov. is proposed . The type strain is MEBiC13590 T (=KCCM 43313 T =JCM 33661 T ).

Strain MEBiC09520 T , which was isolated from a tidal sediment in Incheon, Korea, is a pale yellow, rod-shaped bacterium, cells of which are 0.4-0.5 µm in width and 1.5-2 µm in length. Strain MEBiC09520 T shared 95.17 and 92.57% 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity with Emcibacter nanhaiensis and E. congregatus , respectively. It grew optimally at pH 6.0, at 55 °C and with 2.5-3.5% (w/v) NaCl. Its polar lipid components included phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), diphosphatidylglycerol (DPG), phosphatidylglycerol (PG), an unidentified phospholipid (PL), three unidentified aminolipids (ALs) and two unidentified lipids (L). The fatty acids C 16:0 , C 19:0 cyclo ω8 c , C 14:0 2-OH and summed feature 8 (C 18:1 ω7 c and/or C 18:1 ω6 c ) were predominantly present in its cell wall. Strain MEBiC09520 T was thermophilic, while E. nanhaiensis and E. congregatus were mesophilic. Although E. nanhaiensis showed no nitrate reduction activity, MEBiC09520 T and E. congregatus showed a positive reaction. These strains differed in carbohydrate utilization. In particular, E. congregatus was able to thrive on various carbohydrate substrates as compared to the other strains. The average nucleotide identity value was 69.92% between strain MEBiC09520 T and E. congregatus ZYL T , 70.38% between E. congregatus ZYL T and E. nanhaiensis HTCJW17 T , and 72.83% between strain MEBiC09520 and E. nanhaiensis HTCJW17 T . Considering these differences, strain MEBiC09520 T (=KCCM 43320 T =MCCC 1K03920 T ) is suggested to represent and novel species of a new genus, Luteithermobacter gelatinilyticus gen. nov., sp. nov., and E. congregatus should be reclassified as Paremcibacter congregatus gen. nov., comb. nov.

A strictly anaerobic, dissimilatory Fe(III)-reducing hyperthermophilic archaeon, designated as strain IOH1 T , was isolated from a new deep-sea hydrothermal vent (Onnuri Vent Field) area in the Central Indian Ocean ridge. Strain IOH1 T showed > 99% 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity with Thermococcus celericrescens TS2 T (99.4%) and T. siculi DSM 12349 T (99.2%). Additional three species T. barossii SHCK-94 T (99.0%), T. celer Vu13 T (98.8%), and T. piezophilus (98.6%) showed > 98.6% of 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity, however, the maximum OrthoANI value is 89.8% for the genome of T. celericrescens TS2 T . Strain IOH1 T cells are coccoid, 1.2-1.8 μm in diameter, and motile by flagella. Growth was at 70-82°C (optimum 80°C), pH 5.4-8.0 (optimum pH 6.0) with 2-4% (optimum 3%) NaCl. Growth of strain IOH1T was enhanced by starch, pyruvate, D(+)-maltose and maltodextrin as a carbon sources, and elemental sulfur as an electron acceptor; clearly different from those of related species T. celecrescens DSM 17994 T and T. siculi DSM 12349 T . Strain IOH1 T , T. celercrescence DSM 17994 T , and T. siculi DSM 12349 T reduced soluble Fe(III)-citrate present in the medium, whereas the amount of total cellular proteins increased with the concomitant accumulation of Fe(II). We determined a circular chromosome of 2,234 kb with an extra-chromosomal archaeal plasmid, pTI1, of 7.7 kb and predicted 2,425 genes. The DNA G + C content was 54.9 mol%. Based on physiological properties, phylogenetic, and genome analysis, we proposed that strain IOH1 T (= KCTC 15844 T = JCM 39077 T ) is assigned to a new species in the genus Thermococcus and named Thermococcus indicus sp. nov.

An anaerobic, rod-shaped, mesophilic, chemolithoautotrophic, sulfate-reducing bacterial strain IOR2 T was isolated from a newly found deep-sea hydrothermal vent (OVF, Onnuri Vent Field) area in the central Indian Ocean ridge (11°24'88″ S 66°25'42″ E, 2021 m water depth). The 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that the strain IOR2 T was most closely related to Desulfovibrio senegalensis BLaC1 T (96.7%). However, it showed low similarity with the members of the family Desulfovibrionaceae, such as Desulfovibrio tunisiensis RB22 T (94.0%), D. brasiliensis LVform1 T (93.9%), D. halophilus DSM 5663 T (93.7%), and Pseudodesulfovibrio aespoeensis Aspo-2 T (93.2%). The strain IOR2 T could grow at 23-42°C (optimum 37°C), pH 5.0-8.0 (optimum pH 7.0) and with 0.5-6.5% (optimum 3.0%) NaCl. The strain could use lactate, pyruvate, H 2 , and glycerol as electron donors and sulfate, thiosulfate, and sulfite as electron acceptors. The major fatty acids of the strain IOR2 T were iso-C 15:0 , iso-C 17:0 , ante-iso-C 15:0 , and summed feature 9 (C 16:0 methyl/iso-C 17:1 ω9c). Both the strains IOR2 T and BLaC1 T could grow with CO 2 and H 2 as the sole sources of carbon and energy, respectively. Genomic evidence for the Wood-Ljungdahl pathway in both the strains reflects chemolithoautotrophic growth. The DNA G + C content of the strain IOR2 T and BLaC1 T was 58.1-60.5 mol%. Based on the results of the phylogenetic and physiologic studies, Paradesulfovibrio onnuriensis gen. nov., sp. nov. with the type strain IOR2 T (= KCTC 15845 T = MCCC 1K04559 T ) was proposed to be a member of the family Desulfovibrionaceae. We have also proposed the reclassification of D. senegalensis as Paradesulfovibrio senegalensis comb. nov.

A mesophilic, straight-rod-shaped, non-flagellated bacterium, designated MEBiC05444 T , was isolated from a marine sponge collected from Chuuk lagoon, Federated States of Micronesia. The strain was Gram-negative, catalase- and oxidase-positive, and facultative anaerobic. The isolate aerobically grew at 8-38 °C (optimum, 24-32 °C), pH 4.0-10.0 (pH 7.0-7.5) with an absolute requirement for Na + up to 6 % (w/v) NaCl (2 %). Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that MEBiC05444 T belonged to the family Shewanellaceae , within the class Gammaproteobacteria. Strain MEBiC05444 T showed highest 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity to Parashewanella curva C51 T , followed by [ Shewanella ] irciniae UST040317-058 T and Parashewanella spongiae HJ039 T (98.9 %, 97.2 and 95.7 %, respectively). In the phylogenetic tree based on the 16S rRNA gene sequences, MEBiC05444 T formed a cluster with P. curva C51 T , but the average nucleotide identity value between the two strains was 82 %, thus confirming their separation at species level. The major fatty acids were iso-C 15 : 0 (19.7 %), summed feature 3 (composed of C 16 : 1  ω7 c and/or C 16 : 1 ω6 c ; 16.1 %) and C 17 : 1 ω8 c (10.2 %). The only detected respiratory quinone was ubiquinone Q-8. The major polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, diphosphatidylglycerol, three unidentified aminoglycolipids, two unidentified glycolipids, an unidentified aminoglycophospholipid and an unidentified lipid. The genomic DNA G+C content of strain MEBiC05444 T was 40.8 mol%. Based on the results of polyphasic analysis, the strain represents a novel species of the genus Parashewanella , distinct from P. curva C51 T , [ Shewanella ] irciniae UST040317-058 T and P. spongiae HJ039 T for which the name Parashewanellatropica sp. nov. is proposed with type strain MEBiC05444 T (=KCCM 43304 T =JCM 16653 T ).

A Gram-stain-negative oval-rod-shaped, spore-forming anaerobic bacterium, designated as strain MCWD5 T , was isolated from sediment of a salt pond in the Republic of Korea (35° 7' 18″ N 126° 19' 4″ E). The 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that strain MCWD5 T had low similarity values to members in the family Lachnospiraceae, such as Robinsoniella peoriensis PPC31 T (94.8 %), Ruminococcusgauvreauii CCRI-16110 T (94.2 %) and Lachnotalea glycerini DLD10 T (94.0 %), and its phylogenetic position is unstable. The strain could grow at 20-42 °C (optimum, 38-42 °C), pH 5.5-10.0 (pH 7.0) and with 0-6 % (2.0 %) NaCl. Strain MCWD5 T could not use nitrate, nitrite, sulfate or sulfite as electron acceptors. The strain could utilize various carbohydrates, such as arabinose, cellobiose, glucose, etc., and polymers such as pectin and starch. The major fatty acids of strain MCWD5 T were C14 : 0, C16 : 0, C16 : 1ω7c, C18 : 1ω7c DMA and summed feature 8 (C17 : 1ω8c and/or C17 : 2), which was clearly different from those of related genera. The major polar lipids were diphosphatidyglycerol, phosphatidyglycerol and an unknown phospholipid. Based on the results of phylogenetic, physiologic and chemotaxonomic studies, Anaerosacchariphilus polymeriproducens gen. nov., sp. nov. with the type strain MCWD5 T (=KCTC 15595 T =DSM 105757 T ) is proposed in the family Lachnospiraceae.

A novel bacterium with cells that were pinkish-cream-coloured, aerobic, rod-shaped, 0.62-1.00 µm wide and 2.3-3.3 µm long, designated as strain MEBiC09517 T , was isolated from Buksung-Po, a small port in Incheon, Republic of Korea. Strain MEBiC09517 T had low 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity to validly reported strains; among them, Rubrivirgaprofundi SAORIC-476 T displayed highest sequence similarity (89.9 %). Nevertheless, the novel strain shared a phylogenetic line with members of the genus Rhodothermus, not the genus Rubrivirga. Optimum growth conditions of strain MEBiC09517 T were at 50-55 °C, pH 7 and in 2.0-4.0 % salt concentration. Strain MEBiC09517 T was found to be an obligate marine bacterium that requires KCl, MgCl2 and CaCl2 as well as NaCl for growth. A phosphatidylethanolamine, a diphosphatidylglycerol, three glycolipids and four unidentified lipids were the strain's predominant polar lipid components. The fatty acid of the cell wall mainly consisted of carbons with 16 or 18 chain lengths such as C16 : 0, C18 : 0, C18 : 1 and summed feature 3 (C16 : 1ω6c and/or C16 : 1ω7c). The predominant menaquinone was MK-7. The DNA G+C content is 68.65 mol%. Strain MEBiC09517 T differs from genera of the order Rhodothermales in terms of fatty acid composition, growth conditions, and range of carbon source utilization. Based on phylogenetic analysis using the strain's 16S rRNA gene sequence and results of physiological tests, strain MEBiC09517 T (KCCM=43267 T , JCM=32374 T ) is proposed as Roseithermus sacchariphilus gen. nov., sp. nov. Additionally, the novel family Salisaetaceae fam. nov. based on phylogenetic analysis and physiological characteristics is suggested.

A yellow-pigmented bacterium with the ability to degrade starch, designated MEBiC07310 T , was isolated from tidal flat sediment collected in Taean County, Republic of Korea. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence indicated that strain MEBiC07310 T was affiliated with the genus Flavobacterium in the phylum Bacteroidetes and showed that the strain was most closely related to Flavobacterium haoranii LQY-7 T (96.8 % similarity), followed by Flavobacterium indicum GPTSA 100-9 T (95.2 %) and Flavobacterium urocaniciphilum YIT 12746 T (94.6 %). Genome-based analysis of the average nucleotide identity (ANI) and in silico DNA-DNA hybridization (DDH) of strain MEBiC07310 T compared with F. haoranii LQY-7 T and F. indicum GPTSA 100-9 T yielded ANI values of 77.0 and 73.3 % and DDH values of 18.0±2.7 and 16.1±3.6 %, respectively. The DNA G+C content of strain MEBiC07310 T was 35.2 mol%. Cells of the strain were aerobic, Gram-stain-negative and rod-shaped, and negative for flexirubin-type pigments. Growth was observed at 17-43 °C (optimum 32 °C), at pH 5.0-8.0 (optimum pH 7.0) and with 0-3 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum 1 %). The major fatty acids (>10 %) of strain MEBiC07310 T were iso-C15 : 0, iso-C17 : 0 3-OH, summed feature 1 (iso-C15 : 1 H and/or C13 : 0 3-OH) and summed feature 3 (C16 : 1ω6c and/or C16 : 1ω7c). The major respiratory quinone was menaquinone MK-6. Based on its phenotypic and genotypic characteristics, strain MEBiC07310 T should be classified as representing a novel species of the genus Flavobacterium, for which the name Flavobacterium sediminis sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is MEBiC07310 T (=KCTC 62132 T =JCM 32291 T ).

A Gram-negative, yellow-pigmented, non-flagellated, gliding, rod-shaped and aerobic bacterium, designated MEBiC 12267 T , was isolated from green algae of Jeju Island. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that the strain MEBiC 12267 T was affiliated to the genus Euzebyella of the family Flavobacteriaceae and showed the highest similarity to Euzebyella marina KCTC 42440 T (98.5 %). The DNA-DNA relatedness value of strain MEBiC 12267 T with E. marina KCTC 42440 T was 25 %. Growth was observed at 10-37 °C (optimum, 30-33 °C), at pH 6.0-9.5 (optimum, 8.0-8.5) and with 0.5-9.0 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 2.5-3.5 %). The predominant cellular fatty acids were iso-C15 : 0, iso-C15 : 1 G and iso-C17 : 0 3-OH. The major respiratory quinone was MK-6. Polar lipids included phosphatidylethanolamine, seven unidentified lipids and two unidentified aminolipids. The DNA G+C content was 40.7 mol%. On the basis of the data from the polyphasic taxonomic study, it was concluded that the strain MEBiC 12267 T represents a novel species within the genus Euzebyella, for which the name Euzebyella algicola sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain of E. algicola is MEBiC 12267 T (=KCCM 43264 T =JCM 32170 T ).

A gram-stain-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped (1.3-1.9×0.3-0.5 µm) and non-motile marine bacterium, designated MEBiC09412 T , was isolated from seaweed collected at Yeonggwang County, South Korea. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis demonstrated that strain MEBiC09412 T shared high sequence similarity with Marinirhabdus gelatinilytica NH83 T (95.4 %). Growth was observed at 17-38 °C (optimum 30 °C), at pH 4.0-8.5 (optimum pH 7.0) and with 0.5-6.0 % (w/v; optimum 2.5 %) NaCl. The predominant cellular fatty acids were iso-C15 : 0 (27.4 %), iso-C15 : 1 G (9.6 %), anteiso-C15 : 0 (14.6 %), iso-C16 : 0 (6.2 %), iso-C17 : 0 3OH (13.2 %) and summed feature 3 (comprising C16 : 1ω6c and/or C16 : 1ω7c; 7.4 %). The DNA G+C content was determined to be 43.1 mol%, while the major respiratory quinone was menaquinone-6. Several phenotypic characteristics such as indole production, the oxidizing patterns of several carbohydrtaes (of glucose, fructose, sucrose, maltose, mannose etc.) and organic acids, and the enzyme activities of α-chymotrypsin and α-glucosidase differentiated strain MEBiC09412 T from M. gelatinilytica NH83 T . On the basis of this polyphasic taxonomic data, strain MEBiC09412 T should be classified as a novel species of the genus Marinirhabduswith the suggested name Marinirhabdus citrea sp. nov. The type strain is MEBiC09412 T (=KCCM 43216 T =JCM 31588 T ).

A Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped (1.4-3.6×0.4-0.6 µm) and motile marine bacterium, designated as MEBiC09124T, was isolated from tidal flat sediment of Suncheon Bay, South Korea. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that strain MEBiC09124T showed high similarity to Oleiagrimonas soli 3.5XT (96.7 %). Growth was observed at 18-38 °C (optimum 30 °C), at pH 4.0-8.5 (optimum pH 7.5) and with 0-6 % (w/v) (optimum 2.5 %) NaCl. The predominant cellular fatty acids were iso-C15 : 0, iso-C16 : 0, iso-C17 : 0 and summed feature 9 (comprising 10-methyl C16 : 0 and/or iso-C17 : 1ω9c). The DNA G+C content was 66.1 mol%. The major respiratory quinone was Q-8. Biochemical characteristics such as production of acetoin and enzyme activities of trypsin, α-chymotrypsin and N-acetyl-β-glucosaminidase differentiated strain MEBiC09124T from O. soli 3.5XT. On the basis of data from this polyphasic taxonomic study, strain MEBiC09124T (=KCCM 43131T=JCM 30904T) is classified as the type strain of a novel species in the genus Oleiagrimonas, for which the name Oleiagrimonas citrea sp. nov. is proposed. Emended descriptions of the genus Oleiagrimonas and Oleiagrimonas soli are also given.

A yellowish-orange-pigmented marine bacterium, designated MEBiC08714T was isolated from a sea urchin Strongylocentrotus intermedius collected at the west edge of the East Sea of Korea. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that MEBiC08714T was affiliated with the genus Echinicola and that the strain was most closely related to Echinicola vietnamensis KCTC 12713T (96.9 %), followed by 'Echinicola shivajiensis' JCM 17847 (96.3 %), Echinicola jeungdonensis KCTC 23122T (96.1 %), and Echinicola pacifica KCTC 12368T (95.0 %). Cells were strictly aerobic, Gram-stain-negative, rod shaped, flexirubin-type pigments-negative and motile by gliding. Growth was observed at 20-35 °C (optimum 25 °C), at pH 6-11 (optimum pH 7.0), and with 0-13 % NaCl (optimum 2 %). This strain was able to hydrolyze agar and starch. The polar lipids of MEBiC08714T contained phosphatidylethanolamine, an unidentified phospholipid, and four unidentified lipids. The major fatty acids were iso-C15 : 0 (27.5 %), iso-C17 : 0 3-OH (11.5 %), anteiso-C15 : 0 (5.2 %), summed feature 3 (C16:1ω7c and/or C16:1ω6c, 20.3 %) and summed feature 9 (iso-C17 : 1ω9c and/or10-methyl C16 : 06, 6.3 %). The DNA G+C content was 44.2 mol% and the major respiratory quinone was MK-7. On the basis of these polyphasic taxonomic data, MEBiC08714T represents a novel species of the genus Echinicola, for which the name Echinicola strongylocentroti sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is MEBiC08714T (=KCTC 52052T=JCM 31307T).

A novel Gram-reaction-negative, rod-shaped, aerobic and motile strain, designated MEBiC06469T, was isolated from tidal flat sediment of the Taean province, South Korea. Strain MEBiC06469T produced ivory-coloured colonies on marine agar 2216 medium and could degrade carboxymethyl-cellulose. On the basis of 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity, the closest relative was Pseudomaricurvus alkylphenolicus KU41GT with 96.5 % similarity. The isolate was catalase-positive but oxidase-negative. Growth was observed at 16-38 °C (optimum, 32 °C), at pH 6.0-9.0 (optimum, pH 7.5) and in the presence of 0.0-8.0 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 1.5 %). The only isoprenoid quinone was Q-8.The dominant fatty acids were summed feature 3 (comprised of C15 : 0 2-OH and/or C16 : 1ω7c; 20.4 %) and C17 : 1ω8c (30.9 %), summed feature 8 (comprised of C18 : 1ω7c and/or C18 : 1ω6c; 9.5 %), C16 : 0 (9.0 %), C15 : 1ω8c (5.3 %), and C11 : 0 3-OH (5.2 %). Based on these phenotypic properties and phylogenetic data, strain MEBiC06469T should be classified as a novel species within the genus Pseudomaricurvus for which the name Pseudomaricurvus alcaniphilus sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is MEBiC06469T ( = KCCM 42976T = JCM 18313T). Emended descriptions of the genus Pseudomaricurvus, Pseudomaricurvus alkylphenolicusIwaki et al. 2014, and Maricurvus nonylphenolicusIwaki et al. 2012 are also provided.

A Gram-stain-negative, rod-shaped (1.2-2.1 μm × 0.8-0.9 μm), flagellated and motile marine bacterium, designated MEBiC05461T, was isolated from a marine sponge inhabiting Micronesia. Strain MEBiC05461T was oxidase-negative and catalase-positive. Growth was observed at 8.0-35.6 °C (optimum 30.0 °C), at pH 5.0-9.0 (optimum pH 7.0) and with 1.5-6.0 % (w/v, optimum 2.0-2.5 %) NaCl. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that strain MEBiC05461T showed high similarity to members of the genus Amphritea (96.4-96.6 %). The predominant cellular fatty acids were C16:0 (23.9 %), summed feature 3 (C16:1ω7c and/or C16:1ω6c; 39.7 %) and summed feature 8 (C18:1ω7c and/or C18:1ω6c; 22.0 %). The DNA G+C content was 48.5 mol%. The major respiratory quinone was Q-8.Phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, one unidentified glycolipid, one unidentified aminolipid, one unidentified glycophospholipid and two unidentified lipids were detected as the major polar lipids. On the basis of the data from this polyphasic taxonomic study, strain MEBiC05461T should be classified as a representative of a novel species in the genus Amphritea, and the name proposed is Amphritea spongicola sp. nov. The type strain is MEBiC05461T ( = KCCM 42943T = JCM 16668T). Emendations of the genus Amphritea and species Amphritea atlanticaGärtner et al. 2008 and Amphritea balenaeMiyazaki et al. 2008 are were also given.

A Gram-reaction-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped and non-motile marine bacterium, designated MEBiC09566(T) was isolated from a sponge collected at Uljin County in the coastal area of the East Sea (36° 55' N, 129° 25' E), Korea. The 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that strain MEBiC09566(T) showed the highest similarity with the Kiloniella laminariae LD81(T) (96.7%). Growth was observed at 11-31 °C (optimum 25 °C), at pH 6.0-8.5 (optimum pH 7.0) and with 0-6% (optimum 2.5%) NaCl. The predominant cellular fatty acids were summed feature 8 (comprised of C18:1ω7c/C18:1ω6c) and summed feature 3 (comprised of C16:1ω7c and/or C16:1ω6c). The DNA G+C content is 44.6 mol%. The major respiratory quinone is Q-9. Phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, an unidentified lipid, two unidentified aminophospholipids and one unidentified aminolipid were detected as major polar lipids. On the basis of this polyphasic taxonomic data, it is concluded that strain MEBiC09566(T) should be classified as representing a novel species in the genus Kiloniella and the name proposed is Kiloniella spongiae sp. nov. A Gram-reaction-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped (1.2-1.6 µm×0.6-0.8 µm), flagellated and motile marine bacterium, designated MEBiC06243(T), was isolated from a sediment collected at Daebu Island in the Yellow Sea (37° 20' N 126° 41' E), Korea. The 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that strain MEBiC06243(T) showed high similarity with Neptunomonas naphthovorans NAG-2N-126(T) (96.3%). Growth was observed at 10-39 °C (optimum 29 °C), at pH 6.0-9.0 (optimum pH 7) and with 0-7% (optimum 2.5%) NaCl. The predominant cellular fatty acids were C(10:0) 3-OH (6.1%), C(12:0) (5.8%), C(16:0) (30.5%), C(18:1)ω7c (21.6%) and summed feature 3 (comprising C(15:0) 2-OH and/or C(16:1)ω7c; 30.7%). The DNA G+C content was 41.4 mol%. The major respiratory quinone was Q-8. Phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, diphosphatidylglycerol, two unidentified lipids, one unidentified aminophospholipid and three unidentified aminolipids were detected as major polar lipids. On the basis of this polyphasic taxonomic data, strain MEBiC06243(T) should be classified as a novel species of the genus Neptunomonas proposed as Neptunomonas acidivorans sp. nov. A Gram-reaction-negative, proteorhodopsin-containing, yellow-pigmented, rod-shaped, non-gliding and strictly aerobic bacterium, designated strain YIK12(T), was isolated from tidal flat sediment of Yeongheung Island at the coast of the West Sea of Korea. Cells produced non-diffusible carotenoid pigments, but not flexirubin-type pigment. Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that the isolate was affiliated to the family Flavobacteriaceae and showed highest similarity to Sediminibacter furfurosus MAOS-86(T) (93.3%). Growth was observed at 24-44 °C (optimum 30 °C), at pH 6.5-8.0 (optimum 7.0) and in the presence of 1.5-7.0% sea salts (optimum 2%). The DNA G+C content was 40.4 mol% and the predominant cellular fatty acids were iso-C(15 : 0), iso-C(15 : 1) G, iso-C(17 : 0) 3-OH, iso-C(16 : 0) 3-OH, anteiso-C(15 : 0) and iso-C(15 : 0) 3-OH. The major respiratory quinone was MK-6. On the basis of data from the present polyphasic taxonomic study, strain YIK12(T) is considered to represent a novel species of a new genus in the family Flavobacteriaceae, for which the name Hoppeia youngheungensis gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. Two novel bacterial strains, GH2-4T and GH2-5, were isolated from mangrove soil near the seashore of Weno island in Chuuk state, Micronesia, and were characterized by a polyphasic approach. The two strains were strictly aerobic, Gram-staining-positive, motile, endospore-forming rods that were catalase- and oxidase-positive. Colonies were circular, convex, stringy and transparent yellowish (GH2-4T) or opaque whitish (GH2-5). The 16S rRNA gene sequences of the two isolates were identical. The most closely related strains in terms of 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity were Bacillus kochii WCC 4582T, B. horneckiae DSM 23495T, B. azotoformans LMG 9581T, B. cohnii DSM 6307T and B. halmapalus DSM 8723T (95.6, 95.4, 95.4, 95.2 and 95.2% similarity, respectively). The partial groEL sequence of strain GH2-4T was identical to that of strain GH2-5 and showed <85% similarity to those of the most closely related strains. The isolates grew at pH 5-12 (optimal growth at pH 9), at 10-40 °C (optimum 30-35 °C) and at 0-9% (w/v) NaCl (optimum 1-3% NaCl). The cell-wall peptidoglycan of strains GH2-4T and GH2-5 contained meso-diaminopimelic acid and cell-wall hydrolysates contained ribose as a major sugar. The DNA G+C content was 36 mol%, and DNA-DNA relatedness between the isolates and five related reference strains was 20-24%. Strain GH2-4T exhibited 81% DNA-DNA relatedness with strain GH2-5. The major cellular fatty acids of both strains were iso-C15:0, iso-C16:0, iso-C14:0 and anteiso-C15:0 and the predominant menaquinone was MK-7. On the basis of the evidence from this polyphasic study, strains GH2-4T and GH2-5 (=KCTC 33143=JCM 18995=DSM 27084) represent a novel species of the genus Bacillus, for which the name Bacillus solimangrovi sp. nov. is proposed; the type strain is GH2-4T (=KCTC 33142T=JCM 18994T=DSM 27083T).

Two facultatively anaerobic mesophilic bacteria, strains MEBiC 07026(T) and MEBiC 08903(T), were isolated from two different tidal flat sediments and both strains showed approximately 92.2 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity with [Cytophaga] fermentans DSM 9555(T). 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity between the two new isolates was 97.5 % but levels of DNA-DNA relatedness between the two were 31.3-31.8 %. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the two isolates and [Cytophaga] fermentans DSM 9555(T) were affiliated with the family Marinilabiliaceae in the class Bacteroidia. The dominant fatty acids of strains MEBiC 07026(T), MEBiC 08903(T) and [Cytophaga] fermentans DSM 9555(T) were branched-type or hydroxylated C15 : 0, but [Cytophaga] fermentans DSM 9555(T) contained a higher proportion of anteiso-branched fatty acids. The two new isolates contained a markedly higher proportion of monounsaturated fatty acids than other members of the family Marinilabiliaceae. The major respiratory quinone of the strains was MK-7. Strains MEBiC07026(T) and MEBiC08903(T) utilized a wide range of carboxylic acids whereas [Cytophaga] fermentans DSM 9555(T) utilized carbohydrates rather than carboxylic acids. The DNA G+C content of the novel strains was about 44 mol% but that of [Cytophaga] fermentans DSM 9555(T) revealed from the genome sequence was 37.6 mol%. Based on evidence from this polyphasic taxonomic study, a novel genus, Carboxylicivirga gen. nov., is proposed in the family Marinilabiliaceae with two novel species, Carboxylicivirga mesophila sp. nov. with type strain MEBiC 07026(T) ( = KCCM 42978(T) = JCM 18290(T)) and Carboxylicivirga taeanensis sp. nov. with type strain MEBiC 08903(T) ( = KCCM 43024(T) = JCM 19490(T)). Additionally, [Cytophaga] fermentans DSM 9555(T) ( = ATCC 19072(T)) is reclassified as Saccharicrinis fermentans gen. nov., comb. nov.

A Gram-negative, proteorhodopsin-containing, orange pigmented, rod-shaped and strictly aerobic bacterium, designated strain AKS622(T), was isolated from a glacier core collected from the coast of King George Island, Antarctica. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that strain AKS622(T) was affiliated to the genus Nonlabens of the family Flavobacteriaceae and showed highest similarity to Nonlabens marinus S1-08(T) (97.9%). The level of DNA-DNA relatedness between strain AKS622(T) and N. marinus S1-08(T) was 46%. Optimal growth of strain AKS622(T) was observed at pH 7.0, at 15 °C and with 2.0% NaCl. The predominant cellular fatty acids were anteiso-C(15 : 0), iso-C(16 : 0), iso-C(16 : 0) 3-OH, C17:0 2-OH and summed feature 3 (comprising C(16 : 1)ω7c and/or C(16 : 1)ω6c). The DNA G+C content was 37.9 mol%. The major respiratory quinone was MK-6. Phosphatidylethanolamine, four unidentified glycolipids, three unidentified aminolipids and one unidentified lipid were detected as major polar lipids. On the basis of the data from this polyphasic taxonomic study, it was concluded that strain AKS622(T) represents a novel species within the genus Nonlabens, for which the name Nonlabens antarcticus sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is AKS622(T) ( = KCCM 43019(T) = JCM 14068(T)). Emended descriptions of N. marinus Park et al. 2012 and Nonlabens agnitus Yi and Chun 2012 are given.

A novel strain, designated SJP7(T), was isolated from sediment of the Tofua Arc of the Tonga Trench. The 16S rRNA gene sequence of the isolate showed the highest similarity to that of Marinoscillum pacificum KCCM 42325(T) (95.9%). Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the isolate formed a distinct phyletic line with Marinoscillum pacificum KCCM 42325(T) and Marinoscillum furvescens LMG 13023(T) within the family Cytophagaceae. Cells of strain SJP7(T) were Gram-stain-negative and appeared as long rods that were motile by gliding. Growth was observed at 15-40 °C (optimum, 30 °C), at pH 5.5-9.0 (optimum, pH 7.5-8.0) and in the presence of 0.5-7.0% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 2.5-3%). The major respiratory quinone was MK-7. The dominant fatty acids were summed feature 3 (comprising C(16:1)ω7c and/or C(16:1)ω6c), iso-C(15:0) and C(16:1)ω5c. The DNA G+C content was 43.5 mol%. These properties support the affiliation of strain SJP7(T) with the genus Marinoscillum. Further phenotypic differentiation of strain SJP7(T) from other species of the genus Marinoscillum was indicated by the results of physiological and biochemical tests. On the basis of evidence from our polyphasic taxonomic study, strain SJP7(T) represents a novel species of the genus Marinoscillum, for which the name Marinoscillum luteum sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain of Marinoscillum luteum is SJP7(T) ( =KCTC 23939(T) =NCAIM B02491(T)).

A Gram-negative, facultatively anaerobic, rod-shaped (2.04-1.27 × 0.95-1.25 µm) and motile marine bacterium, designated MEBiC06500(T) was isolated from sediment collected at Daebu Island in the Yellow Sea (37° 20' N 126° 41' E), Korea. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that strain MEBiC06500(T) showed high similarity with Paramoritella alkaliphila A3F-7(T) (96.5%). Growth was observed at 10.5-30.2 °C (optimum 23.5 °C), at pH 6.0-9.5 (optimum 8.0) and with 0-5% (optimum 1.5%) NaCl. The predominant cellular fatty acids were C14:0, C16:0, C18:1ω7c and summed feature 3 (iso-C15:0 2-OH and/or C16:1ω7c). The DNA G+C content was 56.0 mol%. The respiratory quinone is Q-8. Phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, diphosphatidylglycerol, four unidentified lipids, one unidentified phospholipid and three unidentified aminolipids were detected as major polar lipids. On the basis of this polyphasic taxonomic data, strain MEBiC06500(T) should be classified as a representative of a novel species in the genus Paramoritella, and the proposed name is Paramoritella sediminis sp. nov. The type strain is MEBiC06500(T) (=KCCM 42977(T)=JCM 18292(T)). Emended descriptions of the genus Paramoritella Hosoya et al. 2009 and Paramoritella alkaliphila are also given.

Two novel Gram-stain-negative, chemoheterotrophic and strictly aerobic bacteria, strains GY2(T) and SPO729(T), were isolated from a tidal flat at Gwangyang Bay in Korea and a marine sponge sample from the Pacific Ocean, respectively. The two strains were halotolerant, catalase- and oxidase-positive, and non-motile rods. Optimum temperature and pH for growth of both strains were observed to be 35 °C and pH 7.0-7.5, but optimum salinity for strain SPO729(T) [2-3 % (w/v)] was slightly higher than that for strain GY2(T) (1-2 %). The major cellular fatty acids of both strains were C16 : 0, iso-C15 : 0, iso-C17 : 0, iso-C17 : 1ω9c, C18 : 1ω7c, iso-C11 : 0 and iso-C11 : 0 3-OH. The genomic DNA G+C contents of strains GY2(T) and SPO729(T) were 55.1 and 57.9 mol%, respectively, and ubiquinone 8 (Q-8) was detected as the sole respiratory quinone from the two strains. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strains GY2(T) and SPO729(T) formed tight phyletic lineages with members of the genus Microbulbifer. Strain GY2(T) was closely related to Microbulbifer okinawensis ABABA23(T) (98.2 %), strain SPO729(T) (98.0 %) and Microbulbifer donghaiensis CN85(T) (97.0 %); strain SPO729(T) was closely related to M. okinawensis ABABA23(T) (98.3 %) and M. donghaiensis CN85(T) (98.2 %). The DNA-DNA relatedness values of strain GY2(T) with M. okinawensis ABABA23(T), strain SPO729(T) and M. donghaiensis CN85(T) were 40.0±2.1 %, 13.1±3.9 % and 16.2±5.8 %, respectively, whereas those of strain SPO729(T) with M. okinawensis ABABA23(T) and M. donghaiensis CN85(T) were 48.0±4.0 % and 34.6±9.3 %, respectively. On the basis of phenotypic and molecular features, it is concluded that the two strains GY2(T) and SPO729(T) represent two novel species of the genus Microbulbifer, for which the names Microbulbifer gwangyangensis sp. nov. and Microbulbifer pacificus are proposed; the type strains are GY2(T) ( = KACC 16189(T) = JCM 17800(T)) and SPO729(T) ( = KCCM 42667(T) = JCM 14507(T)), respectively.

A Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped, non-motile and orange-coloured marine bacterium, YH207(T), was isolated from a tidal flat at Yeongheung-do on the coast of the Yellow Sea, Korea. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that strain YH207(T) was affiliated with the family Cryomorphaceae and showed highest similarity to Brumimicrobium glaciale IC156(T) (95.4 %). Growth was observed at 11-36 °C, at pH 6.5-10.0 and with 0.4-7.0 % NaCl. The predominant cellular fatty acids when grown at 20 °C were iso-C15 : 0 (44.2 %), iso-C15 : 1 G (34.3 %), iso-C17 : 0 3-OH (8.7 %) and summed feature 3 (comprising iso-C15 : 0 2-OH and/or C16 : 1ω7c; 2.3 %). The major respiratory quinone was MK-6. Phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, three unidentified lipids, three unidentified aminophospholipids, one unidentified phospholipid, four unidentified aminolipids and three unidentified glycolipids were identified as major polar lipids. The DNA G+C content was 34.3 mol%. On the basis of the data from our polyphasic taxonomic study, strain YH207(T) should be classified in a novel species in the genus Brumimicrobium, for which the name Brumimicrobium mesophilum sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is YH207(T) ( = KCCM 42331(T)  = JCM 14063(T)). Emended descriptions of the genus Brumimicrobium and Brumimicrobium glaciale Bowman et al. 2003 are also given.

A Gram-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped (0.6-0.9 × 0.7-1.2 µm), motile marine bacterium, designated MEBiC06554(T), was isolated from seawater collected from the East Sea, Korea (also known as the Sea of Japan). 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that strain MEBiC06554(T) was affiliated to the order Kordiimonadales and showed high similarity to Kordiimonas gwangyangensis GW14-5(T) (95.4 %), but formed a distinct phyletic line. Growth was observed at 10.5-35.0 °C (optimum 20 °C), at pH 5.0-8.0 (optimum pH 7.0) and with 0-13 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum 3.0-3.5 %). The predominant cellular fatty acids were iso-C(15 : 0) (14.9 %), iso-C(17 : 1)ω9c (44.6 %), iso-C(17 : 0) (6.3 %) and summed feature 3 (comprising iso-C(15 : 0) 2-OH and/or C(16 : 1)ω7c; 13.9 %). The DNA G+C content was 50.3 mol%. The major respiratory quinone was Q-10. Phosphatidylethanolamine, two unidentified glycolipids, six unidentified aminolipids, three unidentified lipids and one unidentified aminophospholipid were detected as major polar lipids. On the basis of the data from our polyphasic taxonomic study, strain MEBiC06554(T) should be classified within a novel species of the genus Kordiimonas, as Kordiimonas aquimaris sp. nov. The type strain is MEBiC06554(T) (= KCCM 42940(T) = JCM 16665(T)). Emended descriptions of the genus Kordiimonas and of its species Kordiimonas gwangyangensis and Kordiimonas lacus are also proposed.
