Two new 3,4-seco-lanostane-type triterpenes, named as 15α-hydroxy-3,4-seco-lanosta-4(28),8,24-triene-3,21-dioic acid (1), 5α-hydroxy-3,4-seco-lanosta-4(28),8,24-triene-3,21-dioic acid 3-methyl ester (2), and one new lanostane triterpene 15α-acetoxylhydroxytrametenolic acid (3) together with a known one versisponic acid D (4) were isolated from the fruiting bodies ofLaetiporus sulphureusvar.miniatus. Their structures were determined on the basis of extensive spectroscopic methods and comparison with reported data. All four compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxicities against five human cancer cell lines; however, none exhibited inhibitory effects. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

A novel lanthanum cadmium complex [LaCd(bpy)4(NO3)5] (where bpy = 2,2′-Bipyridine) has been synthesized and structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction method, elemental analysis, spectral method (IR), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), electronic spectra (UV–vis) and photoluminescence properties. The complex crystallizes in the monoclinic space groupP21/cwith unit cell parametersa= 16.883(2) Å,b= 14.382(2) Å,c= 18.981(3) Å,β= 96.806(2),V= 4576.5(11) Å3, andZ= 4. The complex is completed by two crystallographically and chemically independent, octahedrally coordinated Cd(II) ion and icosahedronly coordinated La(III) ion. Three new bisabolane sesquiterpenoids, inonotic acid A (1), 3-O-formyl inonotic acid A (2), inonotic acid B (3), and one new drimane sesquiterpenoid 3α,6β-dihydroxycinnamolide (4), were isolated from the fruiting bodies of mushroomInonotus rickii. Their structures were elucidated by means of extensive spectroscopic methods. Compound4had moderate inhibitory activity on human colon cancer SW480 (IC50 = 20.4 μmol). [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

Two new ylangene-type sesquiterpenoids, postinins A (1) and B (2), were isolated from cultures of the fungus Postia sp. Structures 1 and 2 were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis. The bioactivity evaluation showed that both compounds had significant inhibitory activities against protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B, and SH2-containing cytoplasmic tyrosine phosphatase-1 and -2 with IC50 values of 1.6–6.2 μg/ml. A supramolecular CuII complex, [Cu(L)(H2O)] (H2L: 4,4′,6,6′-tetrachloro-2,2′-[ethylenedioxybis(nitrilomethylidyne)]diphenol), has been synthesized and structurally characterized. X-ray crystallographic analysis shows that the complex is a centrosymmetric mononuclear CuII complex, and the CuII atom is penta-coordinated by two phenolic O atoms and two oxime N atoms from the deprotonated Salen-type ligand, and one oxygen atom from the coordinated water molecule. A self-assembling continual supramolecular structure is formed by intermolecular O3-H3···O2 and O3-H3···Cl1 hydrogen bonds. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: Two new Mn(II) coordination polymers, namely, [Mn(Haip)2(H2O)2] (1), and [Mn2(aip)2(bpy)]·3H2O (2) were obtained under hydrothermal conditions (aip=5-aminoisophthalate; bpy=2, 2′-bipyridine). Compound 1 features a 1D loop-like chain structure, and complex 2 possesses an interesting (3, 5)-connected 2-nodal 3D architecture with the Schläfli symbol of (4.62)(4.67.82), which is constructed from helical chains. Coordination modes of H2aip molecules and coligands have significant effect on the structures of the resulting complexes. Moreover, variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility measurement of complex 2 exhibits antiferromagnetic interactions between nearest Mn(II) ions with J =−0.88(5)cm−1 and g=2.04(3). Abstract: Four new luminescent complexes, namely, [Eu(aba)2(NO3)(C2H5OH)2] (1), [Eu(aba)3(H2O)2]·0.5 (4, 4′-bpy)·2H2O (2), [Eu2(aba)4(2, 2′-bpy)2(NO3)2]·4H2O (3) and [Tb2(aba)4(phen)2(NO3)2]·2C2H5OH (4) were obtained by treating Ln(NO3)3·6H2O and 4-acetamidobenzoic acid (Haba) with different coligands (4, 4′-bpy=4, 4′–bipyridine, 2, 2′-bpy=2, 2′-bipyridine, and phen=1, 10-phenanthroline). They exhibit 1D chains (1–2) and dimeric structures (3–4), respectively. This structural variation is mainly attributed to the change of coligands and various coordination modes of aba molecules. Moreover, the coordination units are further connected via hydrogen bonds to form 2D even 3D supramolecular networks. These complexes show characteristic emissions in the visible region at room temperature. In addition, thermal behaviors of four complexes have been investigated under air atmosphere. Three mononuclear Schiff base copper(II) complexes, [Cu(L1)2] (1), [Cu(L2)2] (2) and [Cu(L3)2] (3) (HL1= 2,4-dichloro-6-[(2-chloro-3-pyridyl)iminomethyl]phenol, HL2 = 2,4-dibromo-6-[(2-chloro-3-pyridyl)-iminomethyl]phenol, HL3 = 2-bromo-4-chloro-6-[(2-chloro-3-pyridyl)iminomethyl]phenol), have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV-Vis spectra, and X-ray single crystal diffraction. X-ray structures reveal each crystal unit contains two molecules and the coordination environment around the copper(II) atom is tetracoordinated by two Schiff base ligands, showing a tetrahedron geometry with some distortion. Pairs of intermolecular C-H···X (X = Cl or Br), C-H···N and C-H···O hydrogen bonds form many hydrogen bonding rings and play a crucial role in stabilizing the crystal structures. A new Co(II) cluster, {[CoL(DMF)]2(OAc)2Co}·2DMF (H2L = 4,4'-dichloro-2,2'-[(1,3-propylene)dioxybis (nitrilomethylidyne)]diphenol), has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectrum, UV-Vis spectrum, and X-ray diffraction method. The results indicate that the Co(II) cluster consists of three Co(II) ions, two tetradentate (μ-L)2- units, two coordinated μ-acetate ions, two coordinated DMF, and two crystallizing DMF molecules. All the hexa-coordinated Co(II) ions of the Co(II) cluster have a slightly distorted octahedral geometry. The crystal packing of the Co(II) cluster shows that a notable feature of this structure resides in the formation of a novel 2D supramolecular structure through intermolecular C-H···O interaction and weak intramolecular C-H···(Ph) interaction along the b-axes. Abstract: Four supramolecular complexes [MnL1(H2O)2] (1), {[CoL2(OAc)(H2O)]2Co}·5CH3CH2OH (2), {[NiL3(OAc)(CH3OH)]2Ni}·2CH3COCH3·2CH3OH (3) and {[ZnL2(OAc)]2Zn}·CHCl3 (4), have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV–Vis spectra and X-ray diffraction techniques. All the complexes have the trinuclear configuration except for MnII complex being mononuclear configuration. Every trinuclear complex contains two acetate ions coordinate to the three metal ions via a familiar M–O–C–O–M (M=Co, Ni, Zn) coordinated mode. Although complexes 1 and 3 display 1D supramolecular chains, the different coordination environments (mononuclear in 1, trinuclear in 3) provoke divergence in the structures and aggregations of the chain subunits. Complex 2 forms a 3D hydrogen-bonding supramolecular networks possessing a channel composing of six O–H···O hydrogen bonds, while complex 4 exhibits a 2D hydrogen-bonding supramolecular networks with the formation of “grottos” occupied by chloroform molecules through intermolecular hydrogen-bond interactions. Abstract: Two solvent-induced trinuclear nickel(II) clusters, [{NiL(CH3OH)}2(OAc)2Ni]·2CH3OH (I) and [{NiL(C2H5OH)}2(OAc)2Ni]·2C2H5OH (II), have been synthesized by the reaction of a new Salen-type bisoxime chelating ligand of 5,5′-di(N,N′-diethylamino)-2,2′-[(1,3-propylene)dioxybis(nitrilomethylidyne)]diphenol (H2L) with nickel(II) acetate tetrahydrate in different solvents. Clusters I and II were characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra, UV–vis absorption spectra, TG–DTA and X-ray diffraction methods. In clusters I (or II), there are two ligand moieties (which provide N2O2 donors), two acetate ions, two coordinated methanol (or ethanol) molecules and two crystallizing methanol (or ethanol) molecules, which result in the formation of three slightly distorted octahedral geometries around Ni(II) ions. Interestingly, nickel(II) ions in the structures of clusters I and II are all six-coordinated geometry, but clusters I and II are grown up in different solvent. Abstract: An unprecedented linear supramolecular manganese(III)-lithium(I) coordination polymer, [MnIIIL(OH)2LiI] n , has been prepared and structurally characterized. The polymer is a one-dimensional infinite Mn(III)–O–Li(I) chain supramolecular structure formed by intermolecular O–H···O and O–H···Cl hydrogen bonds and π–π stacking of neighboring benzene rings. Abstract: Two new lanthanide supramolecular complexes, [Tb(qoa)2(H2O)2]⋅NO3 ⋅ H2O (1) and [Er(qoa)3] ⋅ 2H2O (2) [qoa=(8-quinolinyloxy)acetate] were obtained by treating the corresponding nitrates and (8-quinolinyloxy)acetic acid (Hqoa) under hydrothermal conditions. Complex 1 possesses a 1D zigzag chain bridged by the qoa anions, which is further connected to form a 3D supramolecular framework via hydrogen bonds and π–π attractions. Compound 2 is a mononuclear structure and the coordination units are further assembled to a 1D helical chain parallel to the b-axis via hydrogen bonds. Obviously, various coordination modes of the qoa anions and the intermolecular attractions have effect on the formations of two complexes. Abstract: Five new lanthanide supramolecular complexes, namely, [Sm(oqa)2(H2O)4]2 (ClO4)2 ·(bpy)2 (1), [Ln(oqa)3]·2H2O [Ln=Sm(2), Gd(3)] and [Ln(oqa)2(NO3)(H2O)] [Ln=Pr(4), Eu(5)] (oqa=4-oxo-1(4H)-quinolineacetate, bpy=4,4′-bipyridine), have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. These complexes exhibit three typical structure features. Complex 1 possesses a dimeric structure, which is further connected together through hydrogen bonds and π–π attractions, forming a 3D supramolecular framework. Compounds 2–3 are isomorphous and contain 1D ring-like chains, which are further interconnected by the oqa ligands into 2D sheet-like structures. 4 and 5 exhibit eight-connected 3D network of 424·64-bcu topology. The various coordination modes of carboxylate ligands and the selection of the counterions have clearly affected the topological structures. Furthermore, the solid-state luminescent properties of complexes 1, 2 and 5 were investigated at room temperature and they show intense, characteristic emissions in the visible region. Abstract: Reactions of 4-oxo-1(4H)-quinolineacetic acid (Hoqa) and varied metal salts of Zn(II), Cd(II) and Ag(I) resulted in the formation of three new coordination polymers, namely, [Zn(oqa)2]·H2O (1), [Cd(bpy)(oqa)2(H2O)2]·4H2O (2) and [Ag(bpy)(oqa)]·2H2O (3) (bpy=4,4′-bipyridine). Complex 1 has a three-dimensional (3D) polymeric network with diamondoid topology; compounds 2–3 exhibit one-dimensional (1D) chain structure characteristics, which are further assembled through π–π stacking attractions and hydrogen bonds, forming the 3D supramolecular frameworks.
