Reaction of [Ru 2 (O 2 CMe) 4 ]Cl and Na[Co III Pc(CN) 2 ] (H 2 Pc = phthalocyanine) forms [Ru 2 (O 2 CMe) 4 ][Co III Pc(CN) 2 ] with the targeted linear structure possessing linear ⋯Ru–N C–Co⋯ linkages. The magnetic properties of [Ru 2 (O 2 CMe) 4 ][Co III Pc(CN) 2 ] can be fit to a zero field splitting model with D /k B = 95 K (66 cm −1 ). The article discusses a study on the crystal and molecular structures of the organic compound 2-ethoxybenzamide or C9H11NO2. The ribbon-like packing motifs were instigated by additional hydrogen bonds between adjacent dimers. A T-shaped herringbone pattern characterized the ribbons. The simulated annealing global optimization algorithm was used to solve the crystal structure.

Purification of C2H4 from an C2H4 /C2H6 mixture is one of the most challenging separation processes, which is achieved mainly through energy‐intensive, cryogenic distillation in industry. Sustainable, non‐distillation methods are highly desired as alternatives. We discovered that the fluorinated bis(pyrazolyl)borate ligand supported copper(I) complex {[(CF3)2Bp]Cu}3 has features very desirable in an olefin–paraffin separation material. It binds ethylene exclusively over ethane generating [(CF3)2Bp]Cu(C2H4). This molecular compound exhibits extremely high and record ideal adsorbed solution theory (IAST) C2H4 /C2H6 gas separation selectivity, affording high purity (>99.5 %) ethylene that can be readily desorbed from separation columns. In‐situ PXRD provides a "live" picture of the reversible conversion between [(CF3)2Bp]Cu(C2H4) and the ethylene‐free sorbent in the solid‐state, driven by the presence or removal of C2H4. Abstract: Reaction of [Ru2(O2CMe)4]Cl with K3[Cr(CN)5NO] in water forms H x [RuII/III 2(O2CMe)4]3− x -[Cr(CN)5NO]·zH2O (x =0.2) that magnetically orders at 4.0K and possesses an interpenetrating body centered cubic [a =13.2509(2)Å] structure with random locations of the bridging nitrosyl ligands, and x/3 vacant cation sites. Similarly, the aqueous reaction of [Ru2(O2CMe)4]Cl with Na2[Fe(CN)5NO] forms paramagnetic [Ru2(O2CMe)4]2[Fe(CN)5NO]·H2O, which has a similar tetragonal interpenetrating structure [a =13.0186(1)Å, c =13.0699(2)Å] where the NO ligands are presumably nonbridging and 1/3 of the expected cation sites are unoccupied. The presence of uncoordinated NO sites in addition to missing neighboring [Ru2(O2CMe)4]+ units, results in significant vacancies (or holes) in the lattice. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

The M-[TCNE] (M = 3d metal; TCNE = tetracyanoethylene) system is one of the most interesting classes of molecule-based magnets, exhibiting a plethora of compositions and structures (inorganic polymer chains, 2D layers, 3D networks, and amorphous solids) with a wide range of magnetic ordering temperatures (up to 400 K). A systematic study of vibrational (both infrared and, for the first time, Raman) properties of the family of new TCNE-based magnets of MII(TCNE) (NCMe)2[SbF6] [M = Mn, Fe, Ni] composition is discussed in conjunction with their magnetic behavior and newly reso-lved crystal structures. The vibrational properties of the isolated TCNE•- anion in the paramagnetic Bu4N [TCNE•-] salt and recently characterized 2D layered magnet FeII(TCNE)(NCMe)2[FeCl4] are also reported for comparison. Additionally, a linear correlation between νC=C (ag) frequency of the TCNE ligand and its formal charge Z (the spin density on the π* orbital), Z = [1571 - νC=C (ag)]/154.5 [e], is presented. It is shown that monitoring Z by Raman spectroscopy is of great use in providing information that allows understanding the peculiarity of the superexchange interaction in M-[TCNE] magnets and establishing the structure-magnetic properties correlations in this class of magnetic material. MIICl2 (M = Mn, Fe, Co) as their acetonitrile solvates were isolated, and their structural, spectroscopic, and magnetic properties were studied. MCl2(NCMe)2 (M = Fe, Mn) form 1-D chains of octahedral MII ions with four bridging chlorides and two axial MeCN's. The presence of an axial distortion for MFe causes a significant magnetic anisotropy that increases significantly below 150 K; however, χav [=(χ‖ + 2χ⊥)/3] almost coincides with the value obtained on a polycrystalline sample. MnCl2(NCMe)2 is a paramagnet with a weak antiferromagnetic coupling. Annealing FeCl2-(NCMe)2 at 55 °C forms the monosolvate of FeCl2(NCMe) composition in which two chains collapse into a double chain with formation of Fe-Cl bonding such that half of the μ-Cl's becomes μ3-Cl's. This material orders magnetically below Tc = 4.3 K. For M = Co, paramagnetic tetrahedral [CoCl3(NCMe)]- anions are isolated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Reports that the compounds tetrakis(trimethylsilyl)methane (TC) and tetrakis(trimethylsilyl)silane (TSi) have crystal structures with the molecules in a cubic closed-packed stacking. Space group at room temperature of both structures; Description of an X-ray scattering data by a molecule with approximately sixfold orientational disorder, ruling out structure with free rotating molecules.
