BDI veRSES puanlarında anlamlı fark bulunmadı (p>0.05).SonuçSonuç olarak, adjuvan radyoterapi sırasında denetimliegzersiz eğitiminin anksiyete, yorgunluk, enerji, genelsağlık algılarını iyileştirdiği ve etkili baş etme stratejilerininkullanılmasında azalmayı önlediği görüldü., ObjectiveTreatment side effects lead to a negative impact onthe quality of life in breast cancer survivors. Exerciseis reported to improve the physical and psychologicalstatus of these patients. We aimed to investigate theeffect of exercise during radiotherapy on physical andpsychological status in breast cancer patients.Material and MethodA randomized controlled study was set in outpatientrehabilitation clinic. Histologically proven stageI-III breast cancer patients referred for adjuvantradiotherapy were randomly assigned to a supervisedaerobic and strengthening exercise program or usualmedical care without exercise training. The primaryoutcome parameters were Rosenberg Self EsteemScale (RSES), Short Form-36 (SF_36) Quality of life,Coping Strategies Questionnaire (COPE Inventory),Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS), Beck DepressionInventory (BDI), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI). Endpoints were assessed 1 week prior to and 1 weekfollowing 6 weeks of exercise training.ResultsIn the repeated measured analysis, BAI and FSSscores decreased, general health (GH) and energy/fatigue (E) scores of SF-36 increased in the exercisegroup (p=0.045, Cohen d=0.757 for BAI, p=0.02,Cohen d=0.863, p=0.010, Cohen d =1.02 for GH,p=0.032, Cohen d=0.801 for E), while the use ofproblem-based coping score decreased in the controlgroup (p=0.049, Cohen d=0.641). No significantdifferences were found in scores for BDI and RSES(p>0.05).ConclusionIn conclusion, supervised comined exercise trainingduring adjuvant radiotherapy improved anxiety, fatigue, energy, general health perceptions andprevented decreasing in using effective copingstrategies.
