The productive technology can be defined for different levels of aggregation (e.g., enterprises, economic sectors, economies). The groups of relatively homogenous observations can be established in order to model their performance with respect to the corresponding frontiers. The grand technology comprising all the frontiers is termed as the metafrontier. In this paper, we look into the dynamics of productivity of the three Baltic States, namely, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania over the period of 2000-2016. We establish country-specific frontiers and a metafrontier in order to identify technological superiority of the countries against each other. What is more, we apply both convex and non-convex metafrontier in order to ascertain whether the underlying axioms impact the technological gaps. The results confirm the technological superiority of Estonia with regards to the other two Baltic states. Capital productivity requires improvement in Lithuania, whereas both capital and labour productivity gains are necessary in Latvia in order to approach the metafrontier.

Straipsnyje apžvelgiami lietuvių sakytinės kalbos tekstynai ir kai kurie lietuvių kaip pirmosios kalbos įsisavinimo tyrimai. Autorė daugiausia remiasi šaltiniais anglų kalba, nes jie gali praversti lietuviškai nemokantiems tyrėjams bei tapti metodologine ir (ar) teorine paskata tolesnėms įvairių kalbų studijoms. Tarp nagrinėjamų sakytinės kalbos tekstynų yra lietuvių šnekos garsynas „Liepa“, „Sakytinės kalbos įrašų bazė“, „Sakytinės lietuvių kalbos tekstynas“. Išsamiau analizuojamas paskutinysis, kadangi jis yra glaudžiai susijęs su lietuvių vaikų ir į vaikus nukreiptos kalbos tekstyno sudarymu. Antrojoje straipsnio dalyje apžvelgiami lietuvių kaip pirmosios kalbos įsisavinimo tyrimai. Dauguma tokių tyrimų (tarp jų ir tarptautiniai daugiakalbiai projektai), paremtų tekstynų duomenimis, yra skirti gimtakalbių lietuvių gramatikos įsisavinimui. Tačiau pastaruoju metu stebimas susidomėjimas ir kitais pirmosios kalbos įsisavinimo aspektais (tarp jų – fonologija ir morfonologija) bei naujais tyrimo metodais – vis populiaresni darosi eksperimentai. The paper provides an overview of Lithuanian spontaneous speech corpora and certain studies of the acquisition of Lithuanian as a first language. The author focuses mainly on those resources and papers that are published in English and thus can be used by non-Lithuanian speaking researchers as methodological and/or theoretical inspiration for further studies on different languages. Among the spoken corpora discussed in the paper are: the speech corpus Liepa, Sakytinės kalbos įrašų bazė, the Corpus of Spoken Lithuanian. The author pays special attention to the latter as it is closely connected to the development of the Lithuanian corpus of child and child-directed speech. The studies of the acquisition of Lithuanian as a first language are overviewed in the second part of the paper. The majority of studies on corpus data (including those conducted within international cross-linguistic projects) describe the acquisition of grammar by native speakers of Lithuanian. In the most recent research, there is a shift towards new aspects of first language acquisition (including phonology and morphophonology) and new methods (experiments becoming more and more popular).

Darbe nagrinėjamas Nelson-Siegel palūkanų kreivės modelis. Šio darbo tikslas – parinkti geriausią Nelson-Siegel modelį euro zonai, palyginti Lietuvos palūkanų normas su sumodeliuotomis euro zonos palūkanų normomis ir tuo vadovaujantis, įvertinti Lietuvos pasirengimą įstoti į euro zoną 2007 ir 2015 m. Remiantis euro zonos nulinės atkarpos obligacijų palūkanų normų 2004–2017 m. duomenimis buvo sudaryti statiniai modeliai: viso laikotarpio ir kiekvieniems metams atskirai. Naudojantis parinktu geriausiu euro zonos palūkanų normų modeliu buvo apskaičiuotos vidutinės absoliučios Lietuvos palūkanų normų paklaidos. Gauti rezultatai rodo, kad statinis Nelson-Siegel modelis gana tiksliai aprašo palūkanų normas, jeigu jis sudaromas kiekvieniems metams atskirai. In this paper Nelson-Siegel model has been examined. The main purpose of this paper is to fit the best Nelson-Siegel model to the Euro Area yield curves and to compare with Lithuanian yields in order to draw conclusions about readiness of Lithuania to join the Euro Area. In order to succeed in achieving the goal, Euro Area zero coupon bonds have been examined and various static Nelson-Siegel models were developed. Also, the mean of absolute error of the Lithuanian government treasury bills was calculated using the best-fitting Nelson-Siegel model of the Euro Area yields. The results have shown that if the static model is calculated for each year, the yield are described precisely in the model.

Straipsnis skirtas išsilavinimo kaip vieno iš bendrinės kalbos vaizdinio požymių integruotumo analizei pristatyti. Tyrimo pagrindas – mokslinio projekto „Bendrinės kalbos vieta mentaliniame lietuvių kalbos žemėlapyje“ duomenys. Tyrimas vykdytas dešimtyje punktų, kurie, atsižvelgiant į užimamą plotą, proporcingai pasirinkti žemaičių (3) ir aukštaičių (7) geolektinėse ir regiolektinėse zonose. Bendra tyrimo imtis – 1415 tiriamųjų. Medžiagos tipas – sąmoningosios jaunuolių nuostatos, gautos atlikus anoniminį anketavimą. Pagrindinis anketos klausimų ir užduočių blokas yra skirtas regioninio variantiškumo vertinimui, savo požiūrį į bendrinę kalbą tiriamieji atskleidė per mentalinį žemėlapį ir atsakydami į atvirąjį ketvirtąjį anketos klausimą, skirtą bendrine kalba kalbančio žmogaus asociatams išsiaiškinti. Straipsnyje pristatomo tyrimo tikslui pasiekti yra svarbi bendrinės kalbos vartotojo asociatų užduoties medžiaga. Analizuojant laikomasi nuostatos, kad varianto ir jo vartotojo bruožai paprastojo kalbos bendruomenės nario požiūriu iš esmės yra susiję. Plėtojant įžvalgas apie išsilavinimo kaip bendrinės kalbos požymio integruotumą Lietuvos jaunuolių vaizdiniuose, nuosekliai išskleidžiami visų dešimties tyrimo punktų duomenys, aiškinami juose fiksuoti bendrumai ir skirtumai. The paper analyses the integrality of education feature in the image of standard language constructed by ordinary members of a language community. A part of the material taken from the research project "The Position of Standard Language in the Mental Map of the Lithuanian Language" devoted to the analysis of geolinguistic competence of ordinary members of a language community makes the empirical basis for such inquiry. The geolinguistic competence research was carried out in ten areas across the entire territory of Lithuania. Its general sample is 1,415 respondents. The paper focuses on the data received during the so called associate task when the respondents had to name the major associates of a standard language user. Upon employing the "keywords" technique for the classification of the associate data, it was discovered that education was integrated into the standard language images both among highlanders and lowlanders. The education associate was verbalised by the categories of intelligence, education, learnedness, high intellect, knowledge, and other. Approximately one third of young lowlanders (i.e. around 32% respondents of Plungė geolect; 30.77% respondents of Mažeikiai geolect; 32.20% respondents of Kretinga geolect) pointed out education as the most distinct layer of the standard language image. The comparative analysis of the three areas of the Lowland background concerning an inclusion of the education element into the image of standard language revealed that the images distinguished by Kretinga youth and Mažeikiai youth were closer to each other. In the structure of their standard language conceptualisation, the education segment occupied the central position together with the city segment. Other features, such as contemporaneity, culture, (simply) Lithuanian, etc. operated as secondary. Education was integrated into the generalised images of standard language by representatives of all the young highlanders’ groups; yet this segment was not equally important to the respondents of all the groups. The highest percentage (51.90%) of the respondents of the West-eastern Highland regiolect centre distinguished education as a significant feature of the standard language image. The same attitude was verbalised by approximately one third of the respondents of the geolect zones of Biržai and Varėna (including Merkinė), the respondents of the North-western Highland regiolect centre (Šiauliai) and the border zone of the Eastern and Western regiolects of East Highland (Kupiškis). The attitudes of the Vilkaviškis young respondents were most exclusive among all the respondent groups representing the Highland linguistic background: the stereotypical evaluation of a standard language user which might include the education associate has not been spread more widely.

Straipsnyje tiriami kompiuterijos skolinių ir jų lietuviškų atitikmenų vartosenos polinkiai tarp studentų ir nustatyti jų pasirinkimą lemiantys veiksniai. Kompiuterijos terminija yra vienas iš naujausių specialiosios terminijos sluoksnių, todėl nėra nusistovėjusi. Daugelis kompiuterijos terminų yra atėję iš anglų kalbos ir jų plitimą stengiamasi riboti, todėl kompiuterijos svetimybės keičiamos į lietuviškus terminus. Tačiau ne visada pavyksta surasti tinkamų pakaitalų. Be to, ne visi specialistų siūlomi nauji terminai prigyja lietuvių kalboje. Konkretaus lietuviško termino pasirinkimą ar atmetimą gali lemti įvairūs veiksniai: termino trumpumas, skambumas, vartosenos patogumas, aiškumas, tikslumas, skolinio įsigalėjimas ir pan. Straipsnyje analizuojami anketiniu būdu apklaustų KTU studentų pateikti duomenys apie 10 kompiuterijos skolinių ir 13 jų atitikmenų vartojimą bei aptariami veiksniai, lemiantys jų pasirinkimą ar atmetimą. Iš anketinio tyrimo duomenų matyti, kad kompiuterijos skolinius respondentai vartoja gerokai dažniau nei jų lietuviškus atitikmenis: skolinius vartoja 60,5%, lietuviškus atitikmenis – 39,5% apklaustųjų. Svarbiausi veiksniai, nulėmę kompiuterijos svetimybių pasirinkimą, yra jų įprastumas ir patogumas. Dažniausiai skolinių respondentai nevartoja, nes šie neįprasti ir ne visiems suprantami. Pasirenkant lietuvišką terminą, svarbiausi yra bendresni, išoriniai veiksniai: suprantamumas, patogumas ir lietuviškumas. Pastebėta, kad kelių žodžių lietuviškam terminui sunkiau konkuruoti su vienažodžiu skoliniu. Be to, vartosenoje lengviau prigyja terminizuoti bendrinės kalbos žodžiai nei naujadarai. In the paper computer loanwords and tendencies of the use of Lithuanian equivalents among students were explored and the factors determining their choice were defined. The computer terminology is one of the newest sections of special terminology and thus has not yet been established. The larger half of computer terms are adopted from English, the spread of which is being tried to restrain, that is why barbarisms are being replaced by appropriate Lithuanian terms. However, suitable substitutes are not always to be found. Furthermore, not all of the new terms proposed by the specialists establish themselves in the Lithuanian language. The adoption or rejection of a particular Lithuanian term can be defined by various factors: brevity of term, sonority, comfort of use, clarity, fidelity, adoption of the loanword, etc. The paper analyses the data, provided in questionnaires by students of Kaunas University of Technology, about the use of 10 computer loanwords and the use of 1 equivalent and discusses the factors, defining the adoption or rejection of loanwords

Straipsnyje aptariamas G. Frege's indėlis sprendžiant pažintinio turinio formalizavimo galimybių problemą. Matematikos būklė ir poreikiai, paskatinę autorių imtis bendrųjų minties funkcionavimo principų analizės, sukoncentravo jo pastangas logikos srityje. Adekvačios minčiai kalbinės išraiškos paieška atvedė prie kalbos galimybių tyrimo. Frege's tyrinėjimai remiasi prielaida, kad loginė minties analizė galima tik per loginę kalbos analizę. Straipsnyje norima pabrėžti, kad autoriaus dėmesys kalbai – netiesioginis. Jis sąlygotas minties, jog kalboje tam tikru būdu yra duotas žinojimas. Analizuojami matematikos loginio konstravimo metmenys Frege's filosofijoje leidžia parodyti, kad matematikos logizavimas skatino naują pačios logikos ir jos pažintinių galimybių sampratą. Frege's kuriama formulių kalba, kaip tam tikra struktūra, jo filosofinių tyrinėjimų kontekste įgyja fundamentalią metodo reikšmę. Tai skatino pripažinti formalaus aspekto svarbą pažinime. Įvairi kalbinė minties raiška atkreipė Frege 's dėmesį į simbolizavimo būdų skirtingą pažintinę vertę. Tai iškėlė prasmės ir reikšmės skyrimo problemą. Susiejęs prasmę ir reikšmę su sakinio struktūra, jis loginę kalbos analizę nukreipė į semantines problemas. Šios Frege 's idėjos veikė vėlesnius filosofijos bandymus tyrinėti mūsų pažinimo galimybes prasmingos kalbos ribose. Paper discusses Frege’s contribution to solving the problem of cognitive contents formalization. The state and needs of mathematics have led the author to analyse the general principles of thought and focused his efforts on the sphere of logics. Frege’ss research is based on the assumption that logical thought analysis is possible only through logical language analysis. The article points out stresses that the author’s interest in language is indirect. It is based upon the idea that language conveys knowledge in a certain way. The paper analyses Frege’s outline of mathematical logical construction. The language of formulas developed by Frege as a certain structure acquires a fundamental value of a method in the context of his philosophical research. This induced Frege to acknowledge the significance of the formal aspect in cognition. Differences in linguistic expression of a thought turned Frege’s attention to cognitive value of symbolization. This gave rise to the problem of differentiating between the sense and the meaning. By relating the sense and the meaning to the sentence structure Frege directs logical analysis towards semantic problems. These Frege’s ideas influenced further attempts of philosophers to study the potentialities of our cognition within the range of meaningful language.

Straipsnyje siekiama palyginti esamas akcentines vardažodžių priesagų klasifikacijas, taip pat kiek kitaip pažvelgti į akcentinę priesagų, kaip darybos priemonių, galią, į tyrimo objektą įtraukti kol kas nuošaly paliktus atvejus, kurių analizė padėtų plėsti afiksų klasifikacijos schemą. Priesagos, straipsnio autoriaus nuomone, skirstytinos į stiprinančiąsias ir silpninančiąsias pagal jų poveikį vedinių kamienams. Stiprinančiosios priesagos yra tos, kurias pridėję gauname stipriojo kamieno vedinius, o silpninančiosios yra tos, kurias pridėję gauname silpnojo kamieno vedinius. Kadangi visos vardažodžių priesagos lemia vedinių kirčiavimą, galima manyti, kad visos jos yra dominacinės (veikliosios).Vardažodžių priesagų skirstymą į stiprinančiąsias ir silpninančiąsias labiau tiktų grįsti akcentiniu jų poveikiu ne pamatinių žodžių, o vedinių kamienams. Silpninančiosios priesagos gali būti ne tik silpnosios, bet ir stipriosios. Apibūdinant stipriąsias priesagas ne visada pakanka pasakyti, kurios jų yra akūtinės (tvirtapradės), kurios − neakūtinės (netvirtapradės). Jeigu į priesagą įeina dviejų skiemenų pagrindo garsai, derėtų nurodyti ir kirčio vietą. Ne vienu atveju akcentinės priesagų savybės yra sąlyginės (aptariant jų vedinius reikia pridėti papildomų taisyklių ar bent išvardyti idiomatizuotus pavyzdžius). Didelė dalis priesagų yra nesąlyginių (jų vedinių kirčiavimas nesaistomas su kokiomis nors sąlygomis). This paper presents some remarks on the definition of accentual value of Lithuanian nominal suffixes. All of these suffixes determine the accentuation of derivatives and, therefore, these morphemes can be considered as dominant. It is argued in this paper that the classification of nominal suffixes into strengthening and weakening ones should be based on the effect these suffixes make on the stems of the derivatives rather than on the stems of the base words. One should note that the weakening suffixes can be not only weak, but also strong in some cases. The description of strong suffixes should not be limited to indicating whether they are acute or non-acute. If the vocal phonemes of the suffix belong to two syllables, the place of the stress also has to be taken into account. In a number of cases the accentual properties of suffixes are conditional (i.e. when the derivatives of these suffixes are described, additional rules have to be provided or at least the irregular items have to be listed). On the other hand, one should note that the majority of suffixes are unconditional (the accentuation of their derivatives is not related to certain conditions).

Valukonio knyga „Aukštosios matematikos paskaitos”, iš kurios galima spręsti apie dėstomo matematikos kurso VDU techniškųjų fakultetų studentams turinį. On overview of pedagogical and methodical activities of Vytautas Magnus University mathematicians in 1940–1943 is given in this paper. Bibliographic data of Vytautas Magnus University mathematicians are supplemented by new facts. An analysis of the first and the third parts of J. Valukonis book “Lectures in High Mathematics” published in 1943 is presented in the paper. The second part of this book has not been found yet in Lithuania.

Factors of sustainability and harmony in planning urban development The paper discusses conceptual differences of the definitions “sustainability” and “harmony” and the confusion caused by incorrect interpretations of sustainable development strategies. The paper also deals with gaps in urban design and planning standardization, which becomes a serious obstacle to sustainable urban and regional development. The priority targets indicated in this paper are: 1) urban design normative validation; 2) differential definition of urban structural areas development; 3) establishment of detailed urban central part formation and 4) integrated planning of the suburban and metropolitan range area. Šis straipsnis yra diskusinis atsakas į Danguolės Melnikienės straipsnį "Lemos pateikimo ir aiškinimo ypatumai dvikalbio žodyno straipsnyje" (Kalbotyra (3) 57, 2007, 177–185). Jame apžvelgiamos pagrindinės leksikografinės problemos, aprašant lemą. Ypatingas dėmesys kreipiamas į dvikalbių, ypač į dvikalbių frazeologizmų žodynų sudarymo problemas. Siūlomi galimi sprendimo būdai, jau naudojami garsiausiųjų Europos leidyklų praktinėje veikloje. This paper is a discussion response to the article “Lemos pateikimo ir aiškinimo ypatumai dvikalbio žodyno straipsnyje” [The Particularities of Presentation and Explanation of the Lemma in the Entry of a Bilingual Dictionary] by Danguolė Melnikienė (Kalbotyra (3) 57, 2007, 177–185). It overviews the main lexicographical problems of lemma description. Particular focus is shifted towards the problems of compiling bilingual dictionaries, especially bilingual phraseology dictionaries. The paper suggests possible solutions that are already used in the practice of the most outstanding European publishing houses.

Pastaruoju metu aukštas šalies konkurencingumo ir palankus verslo klimatas tapo viena svarbiausių sėkmingos ekonominės plėtros sudedamųjų dalių. Valstybės skiria vis daugiau dėmesio eksportuojamos produkcijos konkurencingumui užsienio rinkose didinti ir verslo sąlygoms gerinti. Šiuo tikslu yra steigiamos specialios institucijos, kuriamos skatinamųjų priemonių programos. Daugybė įtakingų tarptautinių organizacijų, tyrimo centrų ir verslo lyderių stengiasi išmatuoti šalių konkurencingumo lygį, įvertinti jų pažangą šioje srityje. Tačiau reikėtų pripažinti, kad pasaulio konkurencingumo vertinimai dažnai neatspindi ekonominių tendencijų arba joms net prieštarauja. Kyla klausimas, ar iš tikrųjų tarptautinio konkurencingumo rodikliai yra tinkamas ekonominės politikos orientyras siekiant sistemingai gerinti šalies verslo sąlygas. Šis straipsnio tikslas – įvertinti galimus tarptautinio institucijų ir nacionalinių agentūrų konkurencingumo vertinimo metodikų nukrypimus. Analizei buvo pasirinkti du plačiai ekonomikos literatūroje cituojami tarptautiniai tyrimai – Pasaulio banko ir Europos rekonstrukcijų ir plėtros banko verslo klimato vertinimo apžvalgos „Verslas“ (angl. Doing Business) ir Pasaulio ekonomikos forumo „Globalaus konkurencingumo ataskaita“ (angl. Global Competitiveness Report). Be to, straipsnyje buvo panaudotos įmonių vadovų apklausos apie verslo sąlygas, svarbiausios kliūtys skatinant verslo plėtrą ir pritraukiant investicijas Lietuvoje. Tyrimas parodė, kad tarptautinių institucijų vertinimai tik iš dalies atitinka nacionalinę konkurencingumo koncepciją. Straipsnyje buvo pateiktos išvados ir siūlymai, kaip pagerinti verslo klimatą Lietuvoje ir padidinti šalies konkurencingumą. In recent years, the concept of national competitiveness and favourable business environment is broadly associated with economic development. The countries are increasingly paying attention to their competitiveness on global markets by promoting national programs and founding institutions aimed at tackling competitiveness issues. A number of leading international organizations, research institutes and business entities carry out global comparative studies on nation’s competitiveness. However, the global competitiveness ranking results are often inconsistent with economic trends. This raises a question whether the international competitiveness rankings provide a proper guidance for an individual economy in improving the business environment.The paper aims at revealing the factors behind the discrepancies in evaluating a national competitiveness by international institutions and national agents. The analysis is based on the datasets of two influential publications – Doing Business (the World Bank) and Global Competitiveness Report (World Economic Forum). The study was enriched by a questionnaire, specially tailored to assess the most problematic issues in measuring the business and investment environment.The research has shown that the international comparisons only partially correspond to the national perception of competitiveness. The paper also addresses policy insights for enhancing Lithuania’s competitiveness.

We focus on two types of centralised national examinations (the 10th grade tests and Matura examination) that are being carried out in Lithuania for two decades. The aim of the paper is to analyse assessments of mathematics for the entire Lithuanian secondary school population that have no sampling errors while considering the factors of location, school ownership and gender as important indicators when judging about educational effectiveness in terms of quality and equity. We analyse the results of the 10th grade tests for the 2011–2015 period and the results of the same cohorts participating in the Matura examination. We observe that the distribution of the assessments of both exams is asymmetric with a positive skew. The median often is below the middle of the grade scale indicating poor performance or mismatch between knowledge and examination tasks. There are limited differences in assessments with respect to gender and school location, although we detect a tendency to have better mathematics achievement in private schools. The conclusions drawn from national assessment data is somewhat different from international data thus one cannot neglect national information for the development of educational policy. The variables analysed in the analysis has limited predictive power for achievements in mathematics and further analysis is called-for.

Straipsnyje supažindinama su aktyvumo indeksų taikymu ekonominiams procesams analizuoti ir prognozuoti užsienio šalyse, pateikiama Lietuvos realaus ekonomikos sektoriaus indekso LBIX R sudarymo ir skaičiavimo metodika. Pagrindinis straipsnio tikslas – parodyti, kad aktyvumo indeksai įtraukti į prognozuoti bendrąjį vidaus produktą (BVP) skirtus modelius, leidžia patobulinti prognozavimo algoritmus ir patikslinti BVP prognozes. Aktyvumo indeksų naudojimo būtinumą lemia ir tai, kad jiems skaičiuoti reikiami duomenys gaunami gerokai anksčiau negu skelbiamas BVP In this article the Lithuanian real sector activity index LBIX R is presented. This index is calculated without using weights and values, i.e. all data arc provided in physical terms. That means inflationary processes arc eliminated. Time scries data are aggregated into 5 subindices: industry, agriculture, transport, communication and construction. The activity indices were calculated for all of these sectors, and after that they were combined into the consolidated index LBIX R. Similar indices arc successfully used at many central banks, e.g. Japan, Germany, France, Russia, etc. The methodology of calculation of LBIX R is also presented. The second part of this paper is devoted to describe different models of GDR The join behaviour of Lithuanian GDP, exports of goods and services and average monthly salaries is examined by the structural vector auto-regression models (SVAR). Striving for the larger accuracy, apart the aggregated indicators their components arc analysed as well. To describe relations of cointegration, vector error correction model (VECM) was used. The accuracy of forecasts that were calculated as a sum of forecasts of separate parts of GDP was made more precise by using the residual of cointegration. In the third part of this paper different models of GDP were added by activity indices as new regressors. An accuracy of the forecast of each model differs. Therefore, two kinds of errors were calculated: ordinary errors as difference between actual data and forecasted values and Jack knife errors (in absolute terms or modulus). Two periods of modelling results were analysed: before the Russian crisis and after it. Such general conclusion can be made: before the Russian crisis better forecasts of GDP were got using VEC model, and after the Russian crisis VEC model with LBIX R index as a new regressor gave better results, i.e. the average modulus errors of this model were the least

Straipsnio tikslas – pristatyti šiuolaikinės negalios filosofijos problematiką, susitelkiant prie ontologinių ir epistemologinių eiblistinės kultūros prielaidų. Negalia straipsnyje suprantama ir aiškinama kaip kultūrinis fenomenas, o ne kaip natūrali biologinė duotis (tai būdinga visai negalios filosofijos krypčiai, iš kurios čia daugiausia remiamasi Billo Hugheso, Lennardo Daviso, Margrit Shildrick tekstais). Pirmiausia straipsnyje trumpai aptariama žmogiško kūno normos problematika (pasak Daviso, Michelio Foucault, George’o Canguilhemo), aiškiamasi, kiek ir kaip atskirose kultūrose įsigalinčios normos lemia negalios sąvoką, pagal kurią savo ruožtu konstruojamos kūnus kategorizuojančios sistemos (Jackie Leach Scully). Aiškinant ontologines negalios sąvokos prielaidas analizuojama Hugheso pasiūlyta ontologinio nugalinimo sąvoka ir kaip vienas iš nugalinimo būdų minimas perteklinio kūniškumo fenomenas. Ontologinis nugalinimas susiejamas su radikaliais, žmogaus prigimtį hierarchizuojančiais dvasiniais ir politiniais judėjimais (remiantis Roberto Esposito, Sergejumi Prozorovu). Epistemologinės negalios sąvokos prielaidos pateikiamos pristatant atsieto nuo materialaus kūno epistemologinio subjekto kritiką, plėtojamą Catherine Malabou ir Tomo Sparrow plastiškumo filosofijoje, epizodiškai lyginant ją su Luce Irigaray ir Alfredo Schutzo teorijomis. Išvadose susiejamos ontologinė ir epistemologinė negalios sąvoką grindžiančios plotmės ir nužymimas galimas kelias link šios sąvokos ištirpimo pakitusiose socialinėse praktikose. The aim of the paper is to present the contemporary problematics of the philosophy of disability, focusing mainly on the ontological and epistemological presuppositions of an ableistic culture. In this article, instead of being regarded as a natural biological given, disability is considered and explained as a cultural phenomenon (such an attitude is inherent in the entire philosophy of disability, which is here mainly represented by texts of Bill Hughes, Lennard Davis, and Margrit Shildrick). The first section gives a short account of the philosophical problem of the bodily norm (according to Davis, Michel Foucault, and George Canguilhem). The prevailing norms give rise to different concepts of disability in different cultures, resulting in various systems of categorization of human bodies (J. L. Scully). Speaking of the ontological presuppositions of the concept of disability, the term “ontological disabling” (coined by Hughes) is analyzed, with the phenomenon of excessive corporality being one of the ways such disabling takes place. This article links ontological disabling to radical spiritual and political movements engendering hierarchies of human nature (texts of Robert Esposito, Giorgio Agamben, and Sergei Prozorov are taken as grounds here). Epistemological presuppositions of the concept of disability are explained with the help of a critique of the subject as well as classical epistemology, developed in the philosophy of plasticity of Catherine Malabou and Tom Sparrow.

Straipsnyje pateiktas naujas požiūris į ekonominių procesų valdymą, akcentuojant grįžtamąjį ryšį ekonomikoje. Požiūris grindžiamas nauja holistine bendrųjų procentų idėja ir iš jos kylančiu soties (užpildymo) fenomenu. Parodoma, kad viena silpniausių vietų ekonomikoje yra neteisingas finansinio burbulo supratimas, teigiamo grįžtamojo ryšio nepakankamas ištyrimas ar netinkamas jo taikymas. Nustatyta, kad neigiamas grįžtamasis ryšys virsta teigiamu esant soties efektui, kurį lemia rinkos finansinis prisotinimas. Parodoma, kad atsiradus teigiamam grįžtamajam ryšiui formuojasi ekonominis burbulas. Pateikiamas patikslintas finansinio burbulo apibrėžimas. Taikant fenomenologinį metodą daroma prielaida, kad minios efektą gali paaiškinti susiformavęs soties efektas ir teigiamas grįžtamasis ryšys. Atliktas tyrimas atskleidė, kad ekonominių procesų valdymo analizėje, orientuojantis į bendruosius procentus (bendrąsias palūkanas), atsiskleidė nauji jo aspektai, leidę geriau paaiškinti teigiamą grįžtamąjį ryšį, prisotinimą, soties paradoksą, finansinius burbulus, infliaciją ir kitus ekonominius reiškinius. Darbe taikyta sisteminė ir lyginamoji mokslinių šaltinių analizė, modeliavimas, ekonominė logistinė analizė ir sintezė, fenomenologinis tyrimų metodas. This article is based on a newly discovered general interest model. The model is based on the paradox of market saturation. This model allows research of other economic phenomena, and provides a deeper understanding of economic mechanisms. Further analysis is grounded on the assumption that economics does not differ from other exact sciences. Economic science can be analysed with the same principles that are used in physics, but those principles have to be adapted to the specific needs of economic science. The biggest problem in economic science today is that major research is limited to observational or descriptive types. This means that ways of research are limited to correlation and other statistical data analyses. There is a lack of focus on the behaviour of economic phenomena and economic mechanics. That is why we see little research on understanding aspects such as capital saturation, financial bubbles and cycles, overproduction and inflation. This makes scientists change their attitudes and investigation paradigms. This article focuses on positive economic feedback, and its transformation from a negative phase to a positive one. The influence of capital saturation phenomena is emphasised in the research. This allows us to improve the management of economic processes. The new method of analysis is based on a new concept of general interest and financial saturation modelling. The study shows that positive feedback exists in investment practice, and has a major role in the process. Understanding the impact on the economy of positive feedback is essential for understanding investment processes. In this article, the holistic nature of the term general interest is explained together with the paradox of financial saturation. This allows us to understand the nature of financial bubbles, and to move forward to a deeper understanding of the influence of inflation on this process. The study shows that positive feedback allows the formation of financial bubbles. The definition of a financial bubble was created by applying a phenomenological method that combines theoretical and empirical levels. It sounds something like: a financial bubble is a large-scale and rapid price increase that is created by investment cycles that have a pattern of positive financial feedback triggered by an increase in returns in a deficit market together with the financial saturation effect. This definition explains the financial bubble as economic resonance, and lowers the importance of behavioural elements in explanations of the nature of the financial bubble. This approach also allows us to explain what the fundamental price is. The term fundamental price presents the price that is set in an oversupplied and financially not saturated market. The article also stresses the importance of a behavioural approach, especially in investment management. The crowd effect is used in the research process. The phenomenological method allows us to explain crowd effects by using the interaction between positive feedback and financial saturation. This allows us to understand that the financial bubble and the crowd effect are the outcome of the interaction between saturation and positive feedback. This paper shows that the use of general interest allows us to understand the economic process better. It allows us to explain the nature of financial bubbles in economic systems.

Darbo tikslas yra sudaryti Lietuvos piliakalnių amžių įvertinantį matematinį modelį. Pritaikius archeologines žinias apie piliakalnius, jie buvo suskirstyti į šešis periodus. Straipsnyje nagrinėjami tik tie periodai, kuriems priskiriami piliakalniai yra datuojami tik vienu tam tikru istoriniu laikotarpiu. Pritaikius α-normaliojo skirstinio tankio funkciją, buvo rasti parametrai α ir σ bei sudaryta tų parametrų duomenų bazė. Radus empirines šių parametrų charakteristikas, buvo sudaryti kiekvienam periodui būdingo idealaus piliakalnio aukščio ir aikštelės pločio parametrai. Pasinaudojus sudarytomis parametrų duomenų bazėmis paaiškėjo, kad galima nesudėtingai nustatyti Lietuvos piliakalnių amžių, t. y. priklausymą konkrečiam chronologiniam periodui. The aim of this paper is to develop a mathematical model for estimation of the age of mounds in Lithuania. On the grounds of archaeological literature it was found that mounds are of six periods. This study considers only these mounds that date back to a certain historical period. Using mathematical statistics and the α-normal distribution density function the database for the obtained parameters α and σ was formed. Having obtained empirical characteristics of these parameters the height and width of mounds of each period were found. Using the database of these parameters, the age of mounds can be easily determined, i.e. they can be attributed to some chronological period.

Tyrimu siekta išsiaiškinti, kokios socialiai atsiribojusių mokinių įgalinimo bendrojo lavinimo mokykloje galimybės. Pabrėžiama mokyklos gyvenimo pilnatvės ir darnos idėja, iš esmės lemianti mokyklos, kaip visumos, poveikį individo dvasinei raidai. [...] Socialiai atsiriboję mokiniai iš pirmo žvilgsnio išoriškai atrodo sėkmingi (yra pažangūs, puikiai elgiasi), bet jie turi emocinių sunkumų: bijo atsakinėti prie lentos, atsakinėjant žodžiu jų rankos dreba, jie kalba labai tyliai, verksmingai, visada stengiasi būti nuošaliau. Tokie vaikai labai nerimastingi, jie pernelyg prastai save vertina, yra labai pažeidžiami ir dėl per didelio nerimastingumo, drovumo negali tinkamai išreikšti savo gebėjimų. Aptarus socialinio atsiribojimo ir socialinio įgalinimo sąvokas, daugiausia dėmesio sutelkiama į socialiai atsiribojusių mokinių įgalinimo bendrojo lavinimo mokykloje galimybes, norint teoriškai išanalizuoti ir empiriškai pagrįsti minėtų mokinių įgalinimo bendrojo lavinimo mokykloje modelį. Pastebima, kad socialiai atsiribojusių mokinių įgalinimą turėtų inicijuoti: psichologinės-pedagoginės komandos nariai kartu su socialiniu pedagogu, įtraukdami dalykų mokytojus, klasių auklėtojus; turėtų būti rengiami planai, užsibrėžiami tikslai, o visus proceso dalyvius turi sieti vieningai organizuota veikla. Pabrėžiama tai, kad socialiai atsiribojusių mokinių įgalinimo bendrojo lavinimo mokykloje paveikiais proceso dalyviais galėtų būti socialiai aktyvūs bendraamžiai. Aktyvių mokinių bendravimas su socialiai atsiribojusiais mokiniais yra veiksmingesnis sprendžiant įtakos klausimą nei suaugusiųjų The goal of the paper is to investigate possibilities of social empowerment for socially withdrawn pupils at school. The idea of school life completeness and harmony is emphasized as determinant of spiritual development of a person. Years spent at school enable a child to learn a lot of new things, to better understand the surrounding world and find a lot of friends. For most children who start school, the future seems challenging and full of various opportunities. They believe they can reach and conquer everything. The school, as well as friendship with their contemporaries, is very important for schoolchildren. The process of socialization (the opposite of isolation and self-isolation) during the school years actually is a complete impact of the environment on a child giving him/her an opportunity to fully indulge into the life of society. Disassociated children who seem to be successful (good results, satisfactory behaviour) may have emotional problems: they may feel uncomfortable if they are asked to talk in front of the class, their hands tremble while speaking, their voice is very low and lamentable, and they prefer staying aloof. A high level of uneasiness is characteristic to such children. They underestimate themselves; they are easily hurt and cannot express all their abilities. After presenting the conceptions of social empowerment and social withdrawal, the attention was focused on possibilities of social empowerment of socially withdrawn pupils at school. Research data collected indicates that it is theoretically possible to build a model in order to socially empower those pupils who are socially withdrawn through proper guidance concerning the developmentment of necessary social interaction skills: social educators and special psychologic-pedagogical teams should initiate social empowerment programs for socially withdrawn pupils. School subject teachers should be involved in this process too; class, group of peers have the main lineaments of community and also have the lighest importance in citizenship education and social empowerment of socially withdrawn pupils; socially active classmates can be useful participants in the process of social empowerment of socially withdrawn pupils. Social educators and teachers must take care, however, to properly prepare socially active classmates for proper participation in this process; in conclusion it should be stressed that this theoretical model of social empowerment of socially withdrawn pupils at school can be used only after its verification by an experiment or an action research and further research

Straipsnyje gvildenamas rytų aukštaičių uteniškių ilgųjų balsių priegaidžių skyrimo klausimas. Pirmiausia dėmesys kreipiamas į istorinę klausimo analizę, tikintis, kad iš turimų šaltinių galima patikimai rekonstruoti pirminę rytinių lietuvių kalbos tarmių priegaidžių akustinę struktūrą. Nagrinėjamas Kuršaičio, Baranausko, Jauniaus rašytinis palikimas, taip pat nuo XX a. pr. rūpimu klausimu paskelbtų eksperimentinių tyrimų duomenys. Antroji straipsnio dalis skirta naujam instrumentiniam tyrimui, kuriuo siekiama išsiaiškinti dabartines rytų aukštaičių uteniškių prozodijos realijas, t. y. nustatyti, ar šiuo metu esama toninių ir (ar) dinaminių šios tarmės ilgųjų balsių priegaidžių skirtumų. Tiek teorinė klausimo perspektyva, tiek nauji empiriniai duomenys (nediferencijuoti tono tęstumo koeficiento rodikliai ir intensyvumo maksimumo taškai) daugiau argumentų teikia išvadai, kad uteniškių tarmės priegaidės ne(be)turi fonetinio pagrindo. Keliama prielaida, kad priegaidžių niveliacija galėtų būti sąlygojama ilgųjų kirčiuotų balsių redukcijos. The present paper deals with the question of whether there is an acoustic basis for pitch accent distinction in High Lithuanian (i.e. in Utena subdialect). First, a historical survey was conducted in which theoretical frameworks of Kuršaitis, Baranauskas, Jaunius were discussed. In addition, the data from experimental studies were taken into account. The second part of this article deals with a new experimental investigation in which both tone sustainability coefficient and intensity extrema of long stressed vowels were estimated. In comparison to other dialects, none of these parameters appeared to be of great significance. On the basis of these results a conclusion that there is no reliable theoretical or experimental basis for the pitch accent functionality in Utena subdialect might be drawn. The cause of such prosodic process might be explained by a significant reduction in vowel quantity.

Asmeniškai ieškoma apie visavertį gyvenimą, bendradarbiavimą, atskirtį, gerovės valstybę, socialinę partnerystę. problemas spręsti padeda integruotas ugdymo turinys, o ypač socialinio ugdymo dalykas, pirmiausia turėtų integruoti pilietinio ugdymo, etikos ir ekonomikos dalykus. Social Education – the ability to understand the processes taking place in society, make interactive relationship and the impact on themselves, community and the world. Poverty, consumerism, work, pollution, inequality, health, migration, social networking, voting, propaganda – these phenomena faced by each person. These topics include issues that may be discused like at personal, communities, society or global levels. Personally all of us searched for answers about a full life, cooperation, exclusion, welfare state, social partnership. Discusion about real the problems can be integrated in education curriculum, and especially in social education in first steps integrate civic education, ethical and economic issues. This problem was analize by questioner 271 teachers and qualitative survey of 4 experts and conducted 4 focus group discussions about socially conscious student’s education through the integrated social education lessons 9–10 – classes in economics, ethics, citizenship. Experts was selected from university lecturer from Finland (1), Vilnius (3), a teacher of Estonian high schools (2), 1 teacher from Vilnius Vytautas Magnus high schools (4). The paper used focus group discussions with school principals, teachers, counselors and teacher educators thoughts from Vilnius and Finland.

The concept of thinking is an area of interest for researchers in a wide variety of disciplines: humanities, social and natural sciences. Unlike neurobiologists, who use special technologies to examine human brain activity, the scientists in humanities (philosophers and those of logic) research thinking only through language. The language itself is not only the means for capturing thought and its expression, but also one of the most important elements of culture. Each language, with its own system of words, vowels and grammar, is not only a unique source of knowledge about human life, but also the indicator and symbol of cultural identity. The changes in the language do not occur without reason, because every language is developing along with the economy, culture, science and technology. Thinking and language are very closely related processes, thus, for evaluation of changes in thinking, in this article it is assumed that changes made in language reflect the changes in thinking. Furthermore, this paper discusses features of thought expression, the conception of linguistic as well as logical levels of a sentence, the differences in logical validity and linguistic correctness and their influence on the changes of thinking in the light of the contemporary understanding of language and its relationship to thinking. Mąstymas domina ne tik humanitarinių mokslų tyrinėtojus, bet, kitaip nei neurobiologai, žmogaus smegenų veiklos analizei taikantys specialius tyrimo metodus ir technologijas, humanitarai gali pasiekti mąstymą tik per kalbą. Todėl filosofai ir logikai tiria mąstymą, išreikštą kalba. Tačiau kalba nėra vien tik priemonė mintims fiksuoti ar reikšti. Kiekviena kalba su savąja garsų, gramatikos ir žodyno sistema yra vienas svarbiausių kultūros elementų, ne tik unikalus žinių apie žmonių gyvenimą šaltinis, bet ir bendruomenės tapatybės rodiklis bei simbolis. Kalbos kitimai nevyksta be priežasties, nes kiekviena kalba vystosi kartu su ekonomika, kultūra, mokslo ir technologijų tobulėjimu. Kadangi kalba ir mąstymas yra glaudžiai susiję, tai, ieškant kriterijų mąstymo pokyčių tyrimui, šiame straipsnyje daroma prielaida, kad kalbos pakitimai liudija ir mąstymo kitimą. Šiuolaikinės kalbos ir mąstymo santykio problemos sampratos kontekste aptariami minties išraiškos kalboje ypatumai bei sakinio kalbinio ir loginio lygmenų santykis, nagrinėjamas loginio ir kalbinio taisyklingumo sampratų skirtingumas ir jo įtaka mąstymo pokyčiams.

Trumpai aptariamos pagrindinės muziejaus darbo kryptys įvairiais laikotarpiais, atskleidžiama šios kultūros įstaigos visuomeninė reikšmė. In the paper, a survey on the life and activity of the former and longtime chief of the Lithuanian museum of mathematicians Doc. Henrikas Jasiūnas (1925–2015) is given. The main directions of the museum work in variuos periods are shortly discussed, the public importance of this cultural institution is disclosed.

Straipsnyje pateikiama mokytojų poreikio prognozė iki 2024 metų. Atrenkami mokytojų poreikio prognozei poveikį darantys kriterijai. Nurodoma, kaip prognozuojamas moksleivių skaičius, atsižvelgiant į vaikų gimstamumą, ikimokyklinio amžiaus vaikų skaičių bei moksleivių pokytį pereinant iš žemesnės į aukštesnę klasę. Nagrinėjamas mokytojų amžiaus pasiskirstymas, darantis poveikį mokytojų skaičiaus prognozei. Įvertinami naujai rengiamų mokytojų skaičiai. Mokytojų poreikis (perteklius ar trūkumas) apskaičiuojamas įvertinus prognozuojamus moksleivių skaičius, mokytojų amžių, mokytojų rengimo programas baigsiančių absolventų skaičius. Nustatyta, kada pritrūks fizikos, matematikos, rusų kalbos, chemijos, informacinių technologijų ir kitų bendrųjų mokomųjų dalykų mokytojų. In this paper, the demand of teachers has been forecasted up to the year 2024. The criteria affecting the forecast of the teacher demand have been chosen. It has been indicated how the number of pupils are forecasted taking into consideration the birth rate and the number of pre-school children, the change of pupils moving from a lower to a higher class. The distribution of teacher age affecting the forecast of the teacher numbers has been also investigated. The number of new prepared teachers has been evaluated. The demand of teachers (excess or deficiency) has been calculated taking into account the forecasted number of pupils, the age of teachers, the number of students, graduated teacher training programs. The forecast shows when the deficiency of teachers of physics, mathematics, the Russian language, chemistry, information technology and other subjects will appear.

In this paper a new method of constructing the leading economic index is presented. Its main advantage is the ability to distinguish domestic and foreign factors influencing the growth of economy and it is performed via dynamic hierarchical factor modelling. An application is carried out with Lithuanian data and the results indicate that foreign component corresponds to an economically and statistically significant amount of variance. Under this new methodology, a hypothesis that the effect of international trends on the growth of economy is increasing over time is validated. Results indicate that globalization effect can be quantified and monitored using the proposed decomposition.

Straipsnis skirtas bendrinės kalbos ir tarmių distribucijos problemai. Remiantis Žemaitijos (tyrimas vykdytas Telšių „Atžalyno“ vidurinėje mokykloje) ir Dzūkijos (tyrimas vykdytas Varėnos „Ryto“ vidurinėje mokykloje) jaunimo sąmoningųjų nuostatų tyrimo duomenimis, yra vertinami tarminio kodo sklaidos polinkiai vadinamuosiuose solidarumo (pvz., draugai), izoliuotajame (pvz., šeima) ir instrumentiniame viešajame (pvz., mokykla) domenuose. Kalbos atmainų distribucija domenuose yra aiški nuoroda į kodo vitališkumą ir išlikimą. Reikia pripažinti, kad kalbos atmainų distribucija, kitaip nei skirtingų kalbų distribucija dvikalbėse ar daugiakalbėse bendruomenėse, numato tik ribotas grėsmes kalbai kaip visuminiam konkrečios etninės bendruomenės komunikaciniam, taip pat saviraiškos, tapatumo ir kt. vienetui. Kita vertus, tarminio kodo palaikymo požiūriu, pavyzdžiui, namų domeno praradimas, be abejo, yra nuoroda į tarmės mirtį. Be to, savo ruožtu bendrinės kalbos ir tarminio kalbėjimo distribucijos schema, tiksliau eilinių kalbos bendruomenės narių įsivaizduojamoji bendrinės kalbos ir tarminio kalbėjimo distribucijos schema (straipsnyje kalbama apie tyrimą, kuriame taikyti tik netiesioginiai metodai, taigi tikslumas gali būti tik dalinis!), yra informatyvi ir kitais aspektais, pavyzdžiui, atsiranda galimybė įvertinti bendrinės kalbos ir tarminio kalbėjimo ideologinę vertę socialiniame kontekste ir pan. The object of the paper is Standard Language and dialect domains. Domain is understood as an extralinguistic category that concerns activity rather than place; a discursive situation rather than mere language. The trinomial domain classification extended by Anton M. Hagen (instrumental public domains, e.g., school, public institutions, conversations with strangers; solidarity domains, e.g., friends, neighbours, colleagues; separate domains, e.g., family) serves as an organizational scheme that has structured the analysis performed. The empirical basis for the scientific discussion was formed by the research data of youth language attitudes. 302 respondents from Varėna "Rytas" and Telšiai "Atžalynas" compulsory schools took part in the test. The data for the research was obtained with the use of indirect method, that is why the formulated insights are not strictly imperative; they should be considered rather as hypotheses for the holistic Standard Language and dialectal language domain analysis that could embrace both the direct and indirect methods. The research data show that in the consciousness of the ordinary representatives of the younger generation, opposition between the Standard Language and dialect domains is not clear or strict. This might be due to the alteration of the "market value" of the dialectal language. High rates of the dialects’ suitability in certain domains (e.g., separate; solidarity) do confirm such an observation. The sample of the research does not allow a formulation of any one-sided insights due to an altering value of dialectal language in the social context. However, rather high level of competence of the respondents and their parents as well as the declared code selections when communicating with grandparents, parents, brothers and sisters are informative enough. No doubt, the language attitudes of young people may serve as a sufficient basis for a construction of the competitive Standard Language and dialectal language schemes in a separate (i.e., home) domain. The analysis showed that Standard Language and dialectal language share the solidarity (i.e., friends’) domain. Indeed, such competition is very significant. The solidarity domain is the realm of identification formation; in other words, if the acceptance of a dialect usage is not questioned in regard to a young person’s expression of identity, it is reasonable to speak about the dialect renaissance in Lithuania. On the other hand, the analysis reveals that such opposites as publicity/privateness and officiality/unofficiality still remain significant factors for the selection of Standard Language or dialectal language. Hence, Standard Language dominates within the instrumental domain.

Tikėtinumas, kaip episteminė kalbos modalumo apibrėžtis, laikytina gradacine kategorija. Straipsnyje lyginami kokybiniai ir kiekybiniai aukšto ir žemo tikėtinumo laipsnio realizacijų parametrai lietuvių ir anglų kalbose. Dėmesys sutelkiamas į modalinius žodžius ir dalelytes lietuvių kalboje ir jų angliškuosius atitikmenis. Šiuo lyginamuoju tyrimu siekiama išsiaiškinti, ar tikėtinumo raiška yra nulemta konkrečių kalbinių ypatybių. Analizė atskleidžia keletą svarbių aplinkybių lietuvių ir anglų kalbose: pirmiausia išryškėja tam tikri kalbiniai skirtumai, susiję su tiriamo reiškinio gramatiškumu – pagalbinių prieveiksmių vartojimo strategijos ir dažnumas patvirtina tyrinėtojų įžvalgą, jog anglų kalboje pagalbinė raiška yra daug labiau gramatizuota, nei lietuvių. Ši tendencija atsispindi ir lietuvių, besimokančių anglų kalbą, angliškoje kalbėsenoje, kurioje pastebimas modalinių žodžių perteklius ir, atitinkamai, retas pagalbinių veiksmažodžių vartojimas. Tyrimas taip pat parodė, kad modalinių prieveiksmių ir žodžių reikšmė ypač priklauso nuo konteksto. Lietuvių kalbos prieveiksmis „tikriausiai“ galimai patyrė analogišką reikšmės persikeitimą, kaip anglų kalbos „surely“ – nuo tiesioginės tikrumo reikšmės prie tam tikro netikrumo laipsnio. Taip pat pastebėtina, kad lietuvių kalboje sunkiau atskirti modaliniais žodžiais ir dalelytėmis reiškiamo kalbėtojo įsitikinimo laipsnį. Probability, an epistemic qualification of modality in language, is considered to be a gradable category. The paper will look at the qualitative and quantitative parameters of equivalence between the realizations of high and low degree of probability in English and Lithuanian. The focus of the contrast is on modal words and particles in Lithuanian and their correspondences in English. The purpose of this parallel corpus-based pilot study is to see whether there is any language-specific conceptualization of probability in Lithuanian.

Straipsnyje analizuojama lietuvių kalbos dūrinių su neoklasikiniais dėmenimis struktūra ir jų integracija į lietuvių kalbos žodžių darybos sistemą. Taip pat aptariamas morfologinis neoklasikinių dėmenų statusas. Tyrimas atskleidžia, kad dūriniai su pirmuoju neoklasikiniu ir antruoju indigeniu dėmeniu arba pirmuoju indigeniu ir antruoju neoklasikiniu dėmeniu, išskyrus hibridinius dūrinius su pirmuoju sietiniu kamienu, darybos požiūriu nesiskiria nuo savakilmių dūrinių. Hibridiniai dūriniai, kurių pirmasis dėmuo yra sietinis, pasižymi silpna integracija į lietuvių kalbos sistemą. Pagal sandų tarpusavio santykį dauguma tiriamųjų kaip ir savakilmių dūrinių yra determinatyviniai, o kopuliatyvinių pasitaiko tik vienas kitas. The article focuses on the structure of Lithuanian compounds with neoclassical constituents and their integration into the native word formation system. The paper also discusses the morphological status of the constituent parts of neoclassical compounds. Two types of hybrid neoclassical formations can be singled out in Lithuanian from the point of view of their morphonological accommodation and integration into the word formation system: (1) compounds with the first indigenous or neoclassical stem or the first neoclassical and second indigenous stem and (2) compounds with the first bound stem. The patterns of neoclassical hybrid compounds that belong to the first type conform to the patterns of native compounds in the recipient language (cf. betòn-maiš-ė ‘concrete-mixer’ and pùs-metal-is see, examples 2a-6a), meanwhile neoclassical hybrid formations that belong to the second type show, as a rule, no morphonological accommodation and weak integration into the Lithuanian word formation system. In the morphological system such words function as if no neoclassical stem existed (cf. hidro-elektrìn-ė ‘hydrostation’ and elektrìn-ė ‘power-station’). However, in native word formation system, a new tendency to accommodate and integrate words with the first neoclassical bound stem can be observed (cf. turb-ó-grąžt-is ‘drill’ and turbo- ‘turbo’, grą̃žtas ‘drill’).The majority of analysed Lithuanian compounds with neoclassical constituents as compounds in general are determinative, namely they are characterized by a subordinate relation in which the first constituent modifies the second one which functions morphosyntactically and semantically as the head of the construction (e.g. pùs-metal-is ‘semi-metal’). Moreover, there are also some copulative compounds that encompass a coordinative relation between the native and indigenous constituent (e.g. atòm-laiv-is ‘tanker’).

Informacinių ir komunikacinių technologijų pasiūla lemia naujų mokymui ir mokymuisi skirtų priemonių plėtrą. Pastarosios gali būti įvairiai taikomos siekiant pagerinti ir praturtinti matematikos mokymo procesą. Nagrinėjant technologijų integravimą į matematikos mokymą, akivaizdu, kad ilgamečių priemonių, tokių kaip lenta ir kreida, pakeitimas skaitmeniniu turiniu neapima visų matematikos mokymo ypatumų. Vienas iš svarbiausių veiksnių, lemiančių kokybišką technologijų integravimą į matematikos mokymą, yra mokytojo asmenybė: jo žinios, siekimas ir noras kurti pamokas, kuriose matematika būtų glaudžiai siejama su šiuolaikinių mokinių poreikiais. „Geogebra“ yra dinaminė matematikos mokymui ir mokymuisi skirta priemonė, įgalinanti naudotojus tyrinėti įvairiai pristatomus matematinius konceptus. Straipsnyje nagrinėjama programos „Geogebra“ taikymo Lietuvos pradinio ugdymo mokyklose problema, žvelgiant į ją iš mokytojų perspektyvos. Pagrindinis straipsnio tikslas – išnagrinėti veiksnius, lemiančius matematikos mokymo priemonės „Geogebra“ ir ja parengtų mokomųjų objektų taikymo pradiniame ugdyme galimybes. Siekiant ištirti programos „Geogebra“ tinkamumą pradiniam ugdymui buvo atliktas žvalgomasis, mokytojų ekspertų apklausa grįstas, tyrimas. Straipsnyje aprašomi gauti rezultatai ir pateikiamos bendros išvados. With the advance of information and communications technologies, new teaching tools are becoming more pervasive. These tools can be utilized in a variety of ways to improve and enhance math teaching. Considering the integration of technology in teaching mathematics, it is clear that the replacement of board and chalk with digital presentation material does not cover all the aspects of the mathematic subjects. One of the important prerequisites for quality of integration technology into mathematics teaching is the teacher’s personality, i.e. knowledge, willingness and desire to improve his/her lessons bringing mathematics closer to the present generations of pupils. GeoGebra as a dynamic mathematics software allows users to explore multiple representations of mathematics concepts. The paper deals with the problem of deployment of GeoGebra in Lithuanian’s primary math education and the main purpose of this study is to investigate reasons/factors affecting teachers’ decision to utilize GeoGebra and learning objects prepared by it in their teaching process. With a view to evaluate GeoGebra’s suitability to primary education an expert opinion poll was conducted and results of that exploratory study are presented.

Šiuolaikiniame vertimo moksle vertimas traktuojamas kaip sisteminė tarpkalbinė ir tarpkultūrinė komunikacija, todėl, nagrinėjant kultūrinę reikšmę turinčių realijų vertimą, atsisakoma leksinių vienetų kalbinio deficito, kalbinio ekvivalentiškumo problemos nagrinėjimo, bet stengiamasi nustatyti realijų vertimo strategijas ir sprendimus kūrinio visumos požiūriu. Straipsnyje analizuojamas mikrostruktūrinių teksto vienetų – lietuvių literatūros kultūrinių realijų vertimo į prancūzų kalbą strategijos, nagrinėjami jų vertimo sunkumai ir vyraujančios realijų vertimo tendencijos. Atliekant tyrimą, remiamasi užsienio tyrėjų A. Chestermano, E. E. Davieso, M. Lederer, F. Herbulot, J.-L Cordonniero, P. Sardino, Ch. Nord ir kitų darbais, aptariamas Lietuvos vertėjų, vertimo kritikų požiūris į kultūrinių realijų vertimą. Straipsnyje nagrinėjamos realijos, surinktos iš lietuvių literatūros tekstų (jų apimtis – daugiau kaip 1000 puslapių), kurių vertimai į prancūzų kalbą buvo publikuoti per paskutiniuosius 24 metus, t. y. nuo 1990 metų pradžios iki 2014 metų pabaigos. Visus tekstus vertė frankofonai vertėjai. Beveik ketvirtį amžiaus apimančio vertimų laikotarpio tyrimas leidžia pastebėti šiuolaikinių prancūzų vertėjų požiūrį į lietuvių kultūrines realijas, jų kultūrines konotacijas ir parodo vyraujančias lietuvių literatūros kultūrinių realijų vertimo į prancūzų kalbą tendencijas, lietuvių literatūros vertimo kokybę. According to the contemporary translation theory, translation is an inter-language and intercultural communication. Separate elements of the text language are not considered as independent unit of translation. These separate elements are components of a translation unit. In accordance with this approach, a separate segment of a text becomes stylistically and semantically important as a part of the whole. A translator is able to foresee certain translation strategies and solutions after they become acquainted with the whole of the work and with its explicated and implied meanings. This article aims to analyse translation strategies of Lithuanian culture-specific items into French as well as difficulties and dominant tendencies of translation of culture-specific items. The analysis is based on the works of foreign researchers such as A. Chesterman, E. E. Davies, M. Lederer, F. Herbulot, J.-L. Cordonnier, P. Sardin, Ch. Nord. It is also based on the viewpoints of Lithuanian translators and translation critics to translation of cultural-specific items. This paper describes culture-specific items found in Lithuanian literary texts, which consist of more than 1000 pages. Their translations composed of the same number of pages have been published from 1990 until the end of 2014. All the texts have been translated from Lithuanian into French by francophone translators. Due to methodological reasons, the analysis includes translations of Lithuanian literature that were made from Lithuanian into French. The study of translations made throughout almost a quarter of the century permits to describe contemporary French translators’ approach to culture-specific items of other countries and their cultural connotations. It also reflects the prevailing translation tendencies of the Lithuanian literature and the quality of translation. The results of the analysis of translation of cultural-specific items found in Lithuanian literary texts allow to distinguish five translation strategies: 1) explicitation of culture-specific items or explanation of culture-specific items; 2) preservation of culture-specific items, i.e. original culturespecific items are preserved without their explanation; 3) cultural filtering, i.e. original culture-specific items are replaced by usual and similar units of the target-language without their explanation; 4) conversion, i.e. original culture-specific items are conveyed by certain units of a third or intermediate language, for example, by Englishisms or Russicisms; 5) omission of culture-specific items in the target-language text. The analysis of translation of culture-specific items has been made using the method of quantitative and contrastive translation analysis.

Straipsnyje analizuojama savarankiško darbo įtaka matematinių kompetencijų ugdymui, apžvelgiami mokslinės literatūros šaltiniai, pateikiama Taikomosios matematikos dalyko savarankiško darbo organizavimo tvarka, užduočių pavyzdžiai ir jų sąsajos su matematinėmis kompetencijomis. Taip pat pristatomi tyrimo, kuriuo siekiama nustatyti, kaip studentai supranta, kokias matematines kompetencijas išsiugdė atlikdami savarankiškus darbus, bei kaip savarankiškų darbų rezultatai daro įtaką galutiniam Taikomosios matematikos egzamino vertinimui, rezultatų analizė. The article describes how important an impact of own-study work skills for development of mathematical competences based on the analysis of the scientific literature. The paper presents organization order of Applied Mathematics own-study work as well as examples of tasks and their links with development of mathematical competences. This article presents a study aimed at determining how students understand which of mathematical competencies developed by doing independent work, as well as the results of individual work influence to the final exam Applied Mathematics assessment, analysis of the results.

Straipsnyje pristatomas tyrimas, atliktas siekiant išryškinti edukacinės aplinkos mokymo(si) proceso ir socialinių-psichologinių sąlygų charakteristikas, susijusias su aukštesniais IX-X klasių mokinių matematikos mokymosi pasiekimais. Tyrimo metu gauti duomenys leido nustatyti, su kokiais mokytojo taikomais mokymo(si) metodais ir būdais susiję matematikos mokymosi rezultatai ir kaip juos lemia matematikos mokytojų bendravimo su mokiniais pobūdis. Aukštesni mokinių matematikos mokymosi rezultatai susiję su tokiomis edukacinės aplinkos mokymo(si) proceso charakteristikomis: IX klasėje – klasės draugo arba suolo kaimyno darbo patikrinimas ir vertinimas, klasės arba namų darbų pasitikrinimas kelių mokinių grupėje, darbas kompiuteriu namie atliekant matematikos užduotis; X klasėje – matematikos istorijos elementų pateikimas. Aukštesni matematikos mokymosi rezultatai IX klasėje susiję su mokytojo dėmesiu mokinių interesams ir jų savijautai klasėje, išklausymu iki galo, kai jie atsakinėja, teikiama pagalba, kai mokiniai jos prašo, tikėjimu mokinių geranoriškumu ir gerumu, maloniu bendravimu su mokiniais, mokinių skatinimu būti pareigingiems; X klasėje svarbus mokytojo dėmesys mokinių gerovei ir interesams. This paper presents a study carried out for the purpose to highlight the characteristics of social-psychological conditions of educational environment associated with higher math learning outcomes of the IX–Xth form students. The study obtained data allowed to determine teachers’ teaching and learning methods and techniques are related with mathematics learning outcomes, and how they are determined by the nature of mathematics teachers’ communication with students. Higher mathematics learning outcomes are associated with such teachers’ teaching and learning methods and techniques: in the IXth grade – the checking and assessing of classmates’ work, check oneself class work or home work in the group of students, working with a computer at home; in the Xth grade-presentation of elements of the mathematics history. Higher mathematics learning out comes in grade IXth are related with teachers’ attention to student’s interests and emotions in the classroom, with listening to the end, when they are answering, the teachers’ assistance when the students requested it, believing in benevolence and kindness of students, pleas ant interaction with the students, the promotion of students to be dutiful; in the grade X-teachers’ attention to student well-being and interests.

In the Low Lithuanian dialects reflexive half-participles and verbal nouns are indeclinable and display a unique ending -damos, resp. -imos. The aim of this paper is to explain the invariability of these forms, which represents a striking feature of Low Lithuanian. It is proposed that invariability in the verbal nouns in -imos derives from their neuter origin, whereas in the half-participles in -damos it results from complex processes of phonological merging. In both cases, the preservation of invariability is due to the overall difficulty of building reflexive nominal forms of the verbs.

Kiekviena etninė kalba turi daugiau ar mažiau skolinių, tad jau XX a. pradžioje Hermannas Paulis sukuria pirmąją sistemą, mėginančią juos suklasifikuoti. Nors per pastarąjį šimtmetį buvo nuolatos bandoma surasti geriausią ir aiškiausią skolinių klasifikacijos schemą, nesunku pastebėti, kad pateikiami šių sistemų kriterijai yra labai panašūs ir persipinantys. Dėl to neretai susiduriama su sunkumais, bandant priskirti vieną ar kitą iš svetimos kalbos atėjusį žodį kuriai nors konkrečiai skolinių kategorijai. Ne mažiau neaiškumų kyla dėl skolinius įvardijančių terminų. Antai lietuvių kalboje greta sąvokos „skolinys“, vartojamos ir tokios kaip „svetimžodis“, „svetimybė“, „vertinys“, „barbarizmas“. Viena vertus, šitokia terminų gausa liudija kalbos turtingumą ir jos leksines galimybes bei padeda tiksliau apibūdinti skolinius. Kita vertus, ji įneša nemažai painiavos ir subjektyvumo vertinant lingvistinius reiškinius. Šiame straipsnyje buvo surinkti dažniausiai lietuvių kalboje vartojami ispanų kalbos skoliniai (ispanizmai) ir, juos susisteminus ir suklasifikavus į skirtingas grupes, sudarytas jų sąvadas. Darbe taip pat buvo aptarta gausi terminija, vartojama šiuolaikinėje lietuvių kalboje svetimos kilmės žodžiams apibūdinti, bei pagrįsta nuostata, kodėl straipsnyje buvo pasirinktas „skolinio“ terminas. Every ethnic language has a greater or smaller number of borrowings. The first endeavour to classify loanwords by H. Paul are observed at the beginning of 20th century. Although, in the last century, effort has been made to find a good and clear loanword classification scheme, it is noticed that systematisation criteria presented by various researches are very similar and intertwining. Therefore, any attempts to classify such words in certain categories are frequently confronted with difficulties. A similar phenomenon is noticed in a variety of terms used to refer to loanwords. In the Lithuanian language, along with the term “loanword” such terms as “borrowing”, “alien-word”, “calque”, “barbarism” can also be found. On the one hand, such great number of different terms demonstrates the richness of the language and its lexical potentiality and helps to describe loanwords more specifically. On the other hand, this introduces confusion and subjectivity into the analysis of linguistic phenomena. The goal of this paper was to collect commonly used Spanish language borrowings (hispanisms) in Lithuanian language, systematize as well as classify them into different categories, and create a list. In the article, a deeper look was taken into today’s terminology used to describe loanwords in the contemporary Lithuanian, as well as to justify the choice of the term “loanword”. The list produced by the research shows that hispanisms belong to different areas and have different usage possibilities. The great majority of borrowings are used in art and zoology, but they are also found in such areas as botany, chemistry, economy. But, despite the fact that these words are used in the natural language, not all of them are included in the Contemporary Lithuanian Language Dictionary or international scientific dictionaries, not all of them can be found in Lithuanian language corpora either. A small amount of direct and indirect Spanish language borrowings used in the Lithuanian language suggests considerable cultural differences and a weak historical interaction between the two societies. The absence of sufficient information about Spanish language borrowings in the Lithuanian language as well as the lack of scientific research in this field shows that this is an area which may offer researchers interesting and important discoveries.

Straipsnyje nagrinėjamas anglų kalbos raktinis žodis „right“, jo reikšmės ir vertimas į lietuvių kalbą. Anot A. Wierzbickos, esama tam tikrų kultūrinių konceptų, kaip antai „right“ (ir „wrong“), kurie dėl savo specifikos yra skirtingai interpretuojami tos tautos kultūroje, kuriai jie priklauso, ir kitose kultūrose, kurioms šie konceptai svetimi. Siekiant išsiaiškinti, ar tikrai žodis „right“ gali būti laikomas specifiniu, būdingu tik angliškai kultūrai žodžiu, buvo nagrinėjami angliškojo „right“ vertimai į lietuvių kalbą, pateikiami Vytauto Didžiojo universiteto Kompiuterinės lingvistikos centro lygiagrečiajame anglų-lietuvių kalbų tekstyne, ir patyrinėti, ką šis žodis reiškia ir kokių prasmių gali turėti skirtinguose kontekstuose. Buvo pastebėta, kad angliškas raktinis žodis „right“ daugiausia vartojamas perteikti reikšmėms, susijusioms su mąstymu, protine veikla, dedukcija, socialiniu gyvenimu ir morale. Išsamesnė moralinių ir intelektinių žodžio „right“ prasmių analizė parodė, kad „right“ yra kultūros konceptas, veikiausiai neturintis vienareikšmių analogų lietuvių kalboje. Lietuvių kultūroje „right“ prasmėms perteikti dažniausiai pasitelkiami kiti leksinės raiškos būdai. Paaiškėjo, kad žodis „right“ turi savo specifiką: į lietuvių kalbą jis paprastai verčiamas pasitelkiant TIESOS, teisingumo, teisumo sąvoką arba grindžiamas gėrio (geras) ir blogio (blogas) dichotomija, o anglų kultūroje, kurioje ypač svarbios žinios, mąstymas, pagrįstumas tam tikrais turimais įrodymais ir logika, – priešingai – „right“ susijęs ne tiek su TIESA, kiek su intelektu ir jo išdavomis. The present paper reports on the study of the cultural word "right", which is arguably one of the most culture-specific words in the English language (Wierzbicka 2006, 64). One of the means of measurement of culture-specificity is its translation into other languages. In the present study, the Parallel English-Lithuanian Corpus, compiled at the Centre of Computational Linguistics of Vytautas Magnus University, was used as the basis for checking the translations of the word "right". Both quantitative and qualitative methods of research were applied in distinguishing the senses of the English word "right" and its correspondences in Lithuanian as well as making some inferences regarding the possible cultural differences. The research findings show that while the concept of the English word "right" is based on respect for rational thinking, logical deductions, and evidence, the Lithuanian correspondences are associated more with metaphysical truth and the dichotomy between GOOD and BAD.

The paper mainly deals with two of the four postpositional locative cases in the old Lithuanian language – the allative and the adessive – and their semantic interrelation. The former case was created by attaching the postposition *pie ‘near, by’ to the genitive (e. g. miškó-pi ‘to the forest’, miškum-pi ‘to the forests’) while the singular forms of the latter have two interpretations of their origin. According to the traditional view, the singular forms of the adessive were created by adding the postposition *pie to the old locative form (Stang 1966, 182; Kazlauskas 1968, 160; Zinkevičius 1982, 22). However, Rosinas suggests that they were formed from the dative and the same postposition *pie. Rosinas asserts that his theory of the origin of adessive is confirmed by syntactic constructions, cf. sėdėti prieg skomiai ‘to sit at the table’, where preposition governs the dative case, and sėdėti skomiaip ‘idem’, where the basis of the adessive skomiaip is thought to be the dative (Rosinas 1995, 64; 2000, 174; 2001, 144). According to Rosinas, the formation of the allative validates the symmetry of syntactic and analytic forms as well, cf. bėgti prie miško (gen. sg.) and bėgti miškop (allat. sg.) ‘to run to the forest’. Having accepted the dative as the basis for the singular forms of the adessive, Rosinas explains that the neutralization of the adessive and the allative was determined by the change of the functions of prepositional constructions prieg + gen. and prieg + dat. (Rosinas 2000; 2001, 136-152). The construction prieg + gen. had the original allative meaning and was used with verbs denoting motion. As it gradually moved to the contexts with the verbs denoting state ("kurié su mumis prieġ tosiaġ skomios sêdi 35235" - "those who sit at the table with us"), the allative case also occurred in static contexts and moved into the semantic field of the adessive (and the dative). In summary, Rosinas considers the adessive and the dative morphologically and semantically close, while the allative acquires some of the functions of the adessive after semantic changes of the construction prieg + gen. Rosinas substantiates the neutralization of the adessive and the allative with the following contexts: usage of both cases denoting addressee; occurrence with the verbs turėti ‘have’ and būti ‘be’ and the allative governed by the verb prilyginti ‘compare’ denoting standard for comparison. The examination of the above-mentioned contexts proves that none of them can be regarded as instances of neutralization of the allative and the adessive. Both cases retain different meanings: it is obvious from both the semantics of the spatial cases and the Polish equivalents of the Lithuanian examples. The interchangeability of the adessive and allative is possible with the verbs sėsti(s) ‘sit down’, stoti(s) ‘stand up’, gulti(s) ‘lie down’, pulti ‘fall upon’, dėti ‘put’, cf. pulti kojosemp ‘to fall at one’s legs’ / pulti kojump ‘to fall to one’s legs’. Nevertheless, they are not confused in these contexts. The choice of the case depends on the focus of attention: in the utterance with the adessive the location of the moved Figure is highlighted while the goal of the Figure’s motion is emphasized in the utterance with the allative. It is claimed that the allative is semantically highly related to the dative. Such a phenomenon is very common crosslinguistically and is observed also in old Lithuanian when denoting not only goal of motion, but also addressee, emotional target, purpose, recipient, standard for comparison and possessor. On the contrary, the interrelation of the adessive and the allative (and dative) cannot be proved semantically. The semantic incompatibility of the adessive and the dative casts doubts on the dative as the etymological basis of the adessive as well.

Straipsnyje apibūdinama mokymo metodų samprata bei jų skirstymas pagal įvairias mokslininkų metodikas, be to išskiriami inovatyvūs mokymo metodai (IMM), nagrinėjami šių metodų taikymo privalumai ir trūkumai dėstant matematiką. Kolegijų matematikos dėstytojų apklausos rezultatai parodė, kad dažniausiai taikomi tradiciniai mokymo metodai, technologijų ir skirtingų metodikų pagalba integruojant į juos inovatyvius metodus. This paper describes the concept of teaching methods and their distribution to the various scientific methods, in addition to described innovative teaching methods. Considered innovative teaching methods advantages and disadvantages of teaching mathematics, the math topics examples. College mathematics teachers survey showed that the most applied are traditional methods by integrating into them innovative methods, based on technologies and different methodologies.

Straipsnyje aptariamas pasikliautinųjų intervalų vertinimas oficialiosios statistikos tyrimuose. Atkreipiamas dėmesys į atvejus, kada įprasti normaliuoju skirstiniu pagrįsti pasikliautinųjų intervalų įvertiniai yra nepakankamai tikslūs. Tai iliustruojama Lietuvos statistinių tyrimų pavyzdžiais. Siūlomi alternatyvūs Edgewortho skleidinio ir savirankos metodais pagrįsti pasikliautinųjų intervalų įvertiniai. In the paper, the application of confidence intervals in the surveys of official statistics is discussed. It is noticed that there are situations where at the first sight natural normal distribution-based confidence intervals are not suitable. We demonstrate it by examples taken from Lithuanian statistical surveys. We also discuss an Edgeworth expansion and a bootstrap method as an alternative to the normal approximation.

„Izmaragdu“ vadinamas pamokymų rinkinys, bažnytinėje slavų raštijoje atsiradęs XIV a. antroje pusėje ar paskutiniame to amžiaus trečdalyje. Šiuo metu žinomos trys „Izmaragdo“ atmainos: 1-oji, 2-oji ir 3-ioji redakcijos. Straipsnyje aptariami 3-iosios „Izmaragdo“ redakcijos, sukurtos Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštijos žemėse, seniausio nuorašo (LMAB, f. 19, № 240, datuojamo XVI a. pirmu ketvirčiu), struktūra ir šaltiniai. Sugretinus šį palyginti vėlyvą raštijos paminklą su senesniais 1-os ir 2-os redakcijų „Izmaragdais“, rankraščio № 240 struktūroje aptikta gausių inovacijų. Pamokymai šio rankraščio tekste sugrupuoti pagal autorius į 7 dalis: Jono Auksaburnio, Bazilijaus Didžiojo, Efremo Siro, Atanazo Aleksandriečio, Kirilo Jeruzaliečio ir kt. Kiekvienoje dalyje pateiktas j ją įeinančių tekstų pavadinimų aprašas. Dažniausiai „Izmaragdo“ 3-ios redakcijos nuorašus sudaro 526 pamokymai. Pasitelkus lyginamąją analizę išaiškinta, kad daugiau kaip 100 rankraštyje № 240 surašytų tekstų kilo iš 2-os „Izmaragdo“ redakcijos. Kitas svarbus „Izmaragdo“ 3-iosios redakcijos šaltinis buvo „Sinaksaras“ – kalendorinis šventųjų gyvenimų aprašymų ir pamokymų rinkinys, iš jo hagiografinės dalies „Izmaragdo“ 3-iajai redakcijai „pasiskolinti“ 33 tekstai, o iš pamokomosios – 260. Kai kurie „Sitiaksaro“ tekstai „Izmaragdo“ 3-iojoje redakcijoje buvo perrikiuoti monografine tvarka (pagal autorius). Manytina, kad „Izmaragdo“ 3-iosios redakcijos sudarymui buvo panaudotas 2-os „Sitiaksaro“ redakcijos metinis komplektas ir kai kurie kiti didaktiniai tekstai. The "Izmaragd" is a collection of didactic articles in Church Slavonic which first appeared in the second half or the last third of the 14t h century. The collection has three modifications: the first, the second and the third editions. This paper discusses the sources and structure attributable to the latest handwritten copy of the third edition, compiled in the first quarter of the 16t h century and currently stored at the LMAB, f. 19, № 240. "Izmaragd"№ 240 has certain structural characteristics which distinguish it from the earlier first and second editions. Articles by the same author (John Chrysostome, Basil the Great, Ephrem the Syrian, Afanasy the Alexandrian, Cyril of Jeruzalem etc.) are grouped into separate chapters, each containing an article index. There are seven such chapters in total. The third edition of the "Izmaragd" typically contains 526 articles. A comparative analysis has been conducted in order to determine their sources. The results indicate that over 100 texts in "Izmaragd" № 240 were transferred from the second edition of the "Izmaragd". Another important source of texts was the "Synaxarion", n compilation of didactic articles and hagiographies arranged in a chronological order. 33 texts in the "Izmaragd" were borrowed from its hagiographical part, while another 260 come from the didactic part. Some of these texts were re-arranged in a monographical order, with texts by the same author being grouped into separate units. The third edition of the "Izmaragd" was presumably based on the yearly volume of the second (expanded) edition of the "Plain Synaxarion", as well as some other didactic texts

Straipsnio nagrinėjami P. Vileišio vadovėlio „Keturi svarbiausiejie veikalai aritmetikos“ (1886) vartojami aritmetikos terminai, jų kilmė, darybos būdai ir priemonės bei sinoniminė raiška. Svarbu tai, kad vadovėlyje autorius pateikia kai kurių matematikos terminų apibrėžtis. Tyrimui surinkta apie 150 terminų. Būdingas vadovėlio terminų bruožas – lietuviškumas. Vienažodžiai lietuviškos kilmės terminai, kurie eina sudėtinių terminų pagrindu, sudaro net 75,8 proc. visų rastų terminų. Dauguma šių terminų aritmetikoje nebevartojami, pvz.: iszteisinimas, padaugintinis, vaisius. Nelietuviškos kilmės terminai sudaro 21 proc., hibridiniai terminai – 3,2 proc. Vienažodžių terminų, kuriais eina pirminiai žodžiai, vadovėlyje rasta tik 2 (4,1 proc. ): labas, spugas. Didžiąją dalį antrinių žodžių sudaro dariniai (priesagų, galūnių vediniai ir vienas dūrinys) – net 95,9 proc. visų vienažodžių terminų. Vyrauja priesagų vediniai, iš kurių gausiausią grupę sudaro priesagos -imas (-ymas) vediniai, kiek mažiau priesagų vedinių sudaro terminai, padaryti su kitomis priesagomis: -urnas, -ybė, -uotis, -tis, -tojas, -alas, -ana, -ėjas, -yklė, -lė, -line, -tinis. Galūnių vediniai sudaryti su galūnėmis -is (-ys), -ė, -(i)us. Vadovėlyje vartojami sudėtiniai terminai sudaro 57,8 proc. visų rastų terminų. Tai dvižodžiai ir trižodžiai terminai, kuriuos galima išskirti į derinamojo ir nederinamojo pažyminio junginius. Didžioji dalis nagrinėjamų terminų fiksuojami akademiniame Lietuvių kalbos žodyne, bet yra terminų ar jų reikšmių, nepatekusių į tą žodyną, pvz.: stalveikslis, padaugintinis, labas. The paper examines arithmetic terms used in P. Vileišis’ textbook “Keturi svarbiausiejie veikalai aritmetikos” [The Four Most Important Arithmetic Treatises] (1886), their origin, ways and means of word-formation as well as synonymic expression. The important fact is that the author gives the definitions of some mathematical terms in the textbook. About 150 terms were collected for the research. The Lithuanian aspect is a typical feature of terms from the textbook. One-word terms of Lithuanian origin, which form the basis for composite terms, constitute as much as 75.8% of all found terms. The majority of these terms are no longer used in arithmetic, e.g. iszteisinimas, padaugintinis, vaisius. Non-Lithuanian terms constitute 21%, hybrid terms – 3.2%. Only two one-word terms (4.1%) which are primary words, i.e. labas and spugas, were found in the textbook. The majority of secondary words are formations (suffixal or ending derivatives and one compound) – as much as 95.9% of all one-word terms. Suffixal derivatives prevail; the most numerous group of them are derivatives with the suffix -imas (-ymas), whereas other suffixes are used less often: -urnas, -ybė, -uotis, -tis, -tojas, -alas, -ana, -ėjas, -yklė, -lė, -line, -tinis. Ending derivatives have the endings -is (-ys), -ė, -(i)us. Composite terms used in the textbook constitute 57.8% of all found terms. These are two-word and three-word terms that may be classified as combinations of an agreeing modifier and combinations of a non-agreeing modifier. The majority of analysed terms are recorded in the Academic Dictionary of Lithuanian; however, there are terms or their meanings that are not included in the dictionary, e.g. stalveikslis, padaugintinis, labas.

Suponuojami pakitimai gali būti rekonstruojami taip: ‘ožys, ožka’ (ankst. ide.) >‘šokinėjantis ožiukas’ (ide.) >‘šokinėjantis vabzdys’ (vėlyvas ide. ar poide. procesas, paliudytas iranėnų, armėnų, rytų baltų kalbose) >‘utėlė’ (arm., rytų bl.) >‘bet koks vabzdys’ (tik lie.). In his paper the author suggests that Lith. bužỹs ‘insect, cockchafer, beetle, louse’ and Latvian buzis ‘louse’ (both from East Baltic *bužias m.), as well as Latv. būza ‘louse’, were originally derivatives from the Indo-European word for ‘she-goat’ (IE. *bhugos m. ‘buck, he-goat’, *bhugā f. ‘she-goat’), cf. Armenian buc ‘lamb; young goat, kid’, Avestan būza- m. ‘he-goat’, New Persian buz ‘goat’ and so on. The same semantic development is also attested in other Indo-European languages, cf. Arm. bcic ‘louse’ : Arm. buc ‘lamb; young goat, kid’; Yazghulami vazák ‘a tiny black insect, which moves about by jumping’ : Yazgh. vaz f. ‘goat’; Shughni vazič f. ‘grasshopper’ : Sh. vaz m. ‘he-goat’, vāz f. ‘she-goat’. The suggested transformations may be reconstructed in the following way: ‘goat’ (early IE) >‘jumping kid’ (IE) >‘jumping insect’ (a late Indo-European or post-Indo-European process, attested in Iranian, Armenian, East Baltic) >‘louse’ (Armenian, East Baltic) >‘any insect’ (only in Lithuanian).

Straipsnyje nagrinėjami 11–12 kl. mokiniams skirti matematikos mokymosi objektai, atrinkti iš Nacionalinės mokymosi objektų aprašų saugyklos. Mokymosi objektai nagrinėjami trim aspektais: 1) mokymosi objektų, skirtų 11–12 kl. gausos, paieškos problemos; 2) atrinktų mokymosi objektų turinio tyrimas; 3) mokymosi turinio ir mokinio veikimo sąveikos tyrimas. Sąveikos tyrimas parodė, kad dauguma mokymosi objektų neišnaudoja galimų turinio ir mokinio veiklos sąveikos būdų. This paper deals with LOs for mathematics of 11–12 class students. LOs from the national learning objects metadata repository have been selected. The discussion has been focused on three aspects: 1) how many LOs are there of 11–12 class students, search problems; 2) investigation of content provided in LOs; 3) investigation of interaction between learning content and students activities. It is found that LOs are poor in use of advanced interaction between content and students activities.

Studentai į Kauno technologijos universiteto Panevėžio fakultetus stoja daugiausia iš šiaurės Lietuvos rajonų, tačiau jų matematikos pasiruošimas yra gana skirtingas. Silpnos matematikos žinios neretai tampa nesėkmingų studijų priežastimi. Pirmo kurso studentams, nepakankamai mokantiems vidurinės mokyklos matematikos kursą, rekomenduojama lankyti papildomas išlyginamąsias matematikos paskaitas. Norint sudaryti išlyginamojo kurso programą, pirmojo semestro pradžioje 300 studentų buvo pateikta penkiolikos uždavinių matematiniai testai. Kiekvienas uždavinys turėjo 6 galimus atsakymus, tačiau tik vieną teisingą. Testų rezultatai parodė, kad 94,4 proc. studentų išsprendė nuo 2 iki 9 uždavinių. Tik 4 uždavinius (aritmedniai skaičiavimai ir algebrinio reiškinio su laipsniais supaprastinamas) išsprendė daugiau nei 50 proc. studentų. Nebuvo tokio uždavinio, kurį būtų išsprendę daugiau kaip 60 proc. studentų. Tik nedidelė studentų dalis išsprendė uždavinius, kuriuose reikėjo identifikuoti duoto funkcijos grafiko savybes, rasd nesudėtingos funkcijos apibrėžimo sritį, rasti nesudėtingos funkcijos išvestinę, nustatyti duotos funkcijos monotoniškumo sritį, supaprastinti trigonometrinę išraišką. Pritaikius ARTl algoritmą, paaiškėjo, kad yra nemažai studentų, kurie pasižymi nepakankamomis žiniomis atliekant veiksmus su trupmenomis bei atliekant algebrinius pertvarkius. Vidurinėje mokykloje mokomų aukštosios matematikos pagrindų spragas galima universitete pašaHnti bendrąjį aukštosios matematikos kursą, pradedant jį dėstyti nuo pagrindų. Tačiau elementariąją matematiką tenka kartoti per papildomas išlyginamąsias matematikos paskaitas. Autorių nuomone, vidurinių mokyklų abiturientų silpnų matematikos žinių problemą būtų gahma sumažinti, jei vidurinėse mokyklose būtų daugiau dėmesio skiriama elementariajai matematikai, paliekant aukštosios matematikos pagrindus aukštajai mokyklai. Tačiau šis tyrimas neatsako, ar rezultatai būtų buvę panašūs, jei studentams būtų pateikta ne testai su galimais atsakymais, o tiesiog uždaviniai. Tai yra autorių kitų tyrimų planai. Students of the first course that enroll Panevėžys campus of Kaunas University of Technology have different mathematical readiness. Weak readiness usually results in poor knowledge of higher mathematics and failures during the first or the second terms. In the beginning of the first term students were given tests containing tasks of secondary school mathematical problems in order to suggest extra mathematical lectures for those students who lack necessary skills. Results of these tests are analyzed in this paper.

Straipsnyje nagrinėjami angliški ir lietuviški dvižodžiai statybos ir civilinės statybos terminai jų gramatinės ir semantinės struktūros atžvilgiu. Remiantis gretinamuoju tyrimo metodu, išnagrinėtos bendrosios ir skirtingos aptariamųjų terminų struktūros. Išskirta keletas pagrindinių dvižodžio termino struktūrų šiose kalbose. Šių dviejų kalbų gramatikos ypatumai atsispindi skirtingose terminų struktūrose. Aptariamas semantinis tokių terminų kai kurių sudedamųjų dalių atitikimas ar neatitikimas ir paaiškinamas gretinamųjų terminų reikšmės tapatumas. Gretinamasis tokių terminų nagrinėjimas turėtų prisidėti prie greito tam tikrų gramatinių konstrukcijų atpažinimo ir supratimo bei vartojimo. Gretinamųjų angliškų ir lietuviškų terminų atitikimas reiškia jų reikšmės tapatumą, būtent tai ir yra svarbu dalykiniam bendravimui. This paper studies English and Lithuanian two-word terms of building and civil engineering with respect to their grammatical and semantic structures. By means of a comparative analysis common and diverse structures of the terms under discussion have been considered, and some main two-word parallel term structures are distinguished in these languages. Structural differences are characterized by the grammatical peculiarities of the two languages. Semantic equivalence or non-equivalence of some components of such terms is discussed, and the adequacy of the meaning of the terms compared is explained. The comparative study of such terms should add to quick recognizing of certain structures and to facilitating comprehension and use of the terms. The adequacy of the English and Lithuanian terms means the identity of their meaning, and namely, this is what matters in special-subject communication

Mokymosi sėkmė priklauso nuo daugelio veiksnių ir sąlygų: mokinio, mokytojo asmenybės, mokyklinės situacijos, mikrosocialinės aplinkos bei makroaplinkos veiksnių. Straipsnyje nagrinėjamos harmoningai asmenybei išugdyti būtinos sąlygos visose ugdymo institucijose: šeimoje, mokykloje ir bendruomenėje, keliamas klausimas, ar sudaromos palankios sąlygos pradinuko sėkmingam mokymuisi, kokie psichosocialinės aplinkos veiksniai padeda, o kokie trukdo vaiko ugdymui, jo mokymosi motyvacijai ir rezultatams. Siekiant atskleisti pradinių klasių moksleivių psichosocialinės aplinkos ir jų požiūrio į matematiką sąveiką, 2001-2003 m. atliktas tyrimas, kuriame dalyvavo 3389 mokiniai, besimokantys 1-5 klasėse įvairiuose Lietuvos miestuose bei rajonuose. Remiantis gautų rezultatų analize, galima teigti, kad psichosocialinė pradinukų aplinka turi įtakos matematikos mokymuisi. Dalis mokinių (38,5 proc.) matematikos mokosi todėl, kad nenori atsilikti nuo savo draugų, o dalis (21,2 proc. tyrime dalyvavusių mokinių) - nes nori būti geresni už kitus. Net 68 proc. moksleivių gauna nemokamą maitinimą mokykloje: tai reiškia, kad daugeliui šeimų reikalinga valstybės parama vaikui ugdyti, nes šeima negali garantuoti harmoningo asmenybės vystymosi. Per pamokas mokytojai retai naudoja žaidimą kaip mokymo metodą (44,4 proc. moksleivių nurodė norį daugiau matematinių žaidimų). Atlikto tyrimo rezultatai leidžia kitaip pažvelgti į pradinukų mokymąsi, padeda optimizuoti papildomojo matematinio ugdymo vyksmą, atsižvelgti į moksleivių socialinės aplinkos veiksnius, darančius įtaką jų matematiniams gebėjimams. The learning success depends on many factors and conditions: learner, teacher’s personality, school situation, microsocial environment and microenvironment factors. The paper investigates the conditions that are necessary in order to develop a harmonious personality in all education institutions: family, school and community; asks a question whether favourable conditions are created for the successful learning of the primary school pupil, which factors of the psychosocial environment help and which ones interfere with the child’s education, his learning motivation and results. Seeking to reveal the interaction of the psychosocial environment of primary school pupils and their attitude towards maths, a study was carried out in 2001–2003, which involved 3389 pupils learning in forms 1–5 in various Lithuanian cities and regions. Based on the analysis of obtained results, we could state that the psychosocial environment has an impact on the learning of maths. Some pupils (38.5 per cent) learn maths, because they do not want to lag behind their peers, whereas others (21.2 per cent of the respondents) want to be better than their peers. As much as 68 per cent of pupils receive free meals at school, which means that many families are in need of state support for the development of the child, because the family cannot guarantee the harmonious personality development. At classes, teachers rarely use games as the teaching method (44.4 per cent of pupils said they would like to play more mathematical games). The results of the study enable a different look at the teaching of primary school pupils, help to optimise supplementary maths education, pay regard to the factors of pupils’ social environment that influence their mathematical abilities.
