The study examines 18 terracotta lamps housed at the Fethiye Museum and obtained by confiscation or purchase. Nos 9, 11, 12, and 17 were recovered from Esenköy (Fethiye District), while No. 15 was found during excavations at the Telmessos theater. Findspots of the remaining lamps are unknown. Instead of creating new types or groups for this museum assemblage, it was deemed more appropriate to analyze it according to a typology developed in previous comprehensive studies. Hence, lamps dated to the 5th-7th centuries AD were studied according to the Cibyra lamp typology. Nos 1-7 are wheel-made lamps (Kbr-T10), very similar to one another in form. The remaining 11 are mold-made and represent subgroups of type Kbr-T26. Unlike the wheel-made examples, the lamps produced using molds vary in form and decoration. Although the findspots of most of them are unknown, the characteristics of clay and form of specimens in this assemblage suggest that they were produced in the same place or even the same workshop. Discovery of two lamps at the Roman fort of Apsaros (Gonio, Georgia) offers further insights concerning adaptation of the pelta motif on Roman lamps. Inquiry into the nature of the ornaments on the base - previously unknown in Colchis - leads to conclusions about the possible influx of goods to the fort located on the outskirts of the Roman Empire. In this study, 14 terrecota lamps brought to the museum by means of confiscation or transfer were examined in Giresun Museum inventory. The lamps divided into two groups, Hellenistic and Roman periods, also grouped under separate types in themselves. In this context, while there were six types of lamps dated back to Hellenistic period, the Roman period artifacts were examined under four types. Since the lamps with unknown finding location were not localized, they were tried to date through comparison with the existing lamp catalogs rather than its layer of finding location. At the end of the study, 7 of the lamps were dated to the Hellenistic period, and 7 of them were dated to Roman period. These data obtained were obtained as a result of comparison of form, dough and lining properties of similar lamps. No excavations were carried out in the region except excavations in Giresun Island. There were no lamps found in the excavations carried out in Giresun Island, where the remains of the present day were dated to the Middle Ages. New excavations and findings to be carried out in the region in the future will undoubtedly shed light on the archeology of the region.
