This study examines the impact of technology orientation on entrepreneurial orientation and its consequent effect on the innovation performance of Indonesian startups. In this study, 156 local startups were examined using the structural equation model (SEM). The results demonstrate a significant and positive relationship between innovation performance and both entrepreneurial and technology orientation. Notably, the technology orientation has a positive effect on the entrepreneurial orientation, which partially mediates the indirect relationship between the technology orientation and innovation performance. This study's integrated framework concept to enhance the innovation performance of startups in emerging economies is unprecedented. The findings also urge businesses to adopt proactive, inventive, and risk-taking practices to keep up with the rapid pace of technological advancements. Certain limitations of this study must be acknowledged, including the subjective evaluation of constructs by senior management and the deliberate selection of the sample. To advance this topic further, it is suggested that future research include objective data gathered through assessments by various stakeholders and investigate case studies of designated businesses. - Abstract
The emergence of advanced technologies brings various opportunities for all kinds of business organizations. This topic was selected for research and discussion to figure out the possible impacts of using the ever-increasing development of digitalization, big data analytic capabilities (BDACs) and innovation in the field of sport-based entrepreneurship, which is the main pillar for the economic wellbeing, development and growth of sport activities. This study highlights the function of the BDAC of entrepreneurs in the acceleration of their readiness and innovation activities. Beyond the direct association of BDAC with an entrepreneur's readiness and innovation performance (IP), we also tested the mediation of entrepreneurial readiness between the BDAC and IP of sport-based entrepreneurs. Moreover, the moderation of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) was also considered for the readiness and IP link. In this study, data were collected from 562 sport-based entrepreneurs. Online questionnaires were used for data collection, and various statistical techniques, including correlation, regression and structural equation modeling (AMOS 7.0), were applied for the analyses of the collected data. The outcomes of this study disclosed that BDAC and entrepreneur readiness positively predicted the IP. The results revealed that entrepreneurial readiness mediated between BDAC and IP. The findings suggested that sport-based entrepreneurs should enhance their BDAC for the execution of sport-related innovative activities. In spite of its valuable findings and suggestions, the current study is subject to some limitations. Firstly, this study is limited to sport-based entrepreneurs only. Secondly, AIT theory was used here, so for future considerations, other pillars of the economy such as the manufacturing sector should also be considered and the many other theories available should be employed. Traditionally, innovation system literature favors studies of well-functioning economies and innovation in high-technology sectors. In emerging economies, such as Latin America, a significant number of gaps is still found, especially in terms of understanding behaviors towards innovation and how these attitudes might impact the innovation outputs. Based on this scenario, the present study aims to measure how entrepreneurial innovation - a multidimensional construct formed by innovativeness, proactiveness and risk taking - impacts on innovation performance. This study adapts the model of Sheppard (2023), originally applied to a Canadian multi-sectoral sample, to an also multi-sector group located in the Caribbean region of Colombia. A translated questionnaire was applied to 154 companies. A total of 123 micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) valid cases was considered for analysis. Results show significant impact of entrepreneurial orientation on innovation performance, confirming initial hypothesis. The impact of environmental dynamism presents diverse data that needs to be further analyzed and 'slack resources' were found as a statistically significant antecedent to innovation performance. The limitation to measure growth due to restrictions in data access is an important future opportunity to expand the analysis, allowing full comparison to the original model. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The impacts of entrepreneurial orientation on performance present important research, however, theoretical gaps were identified. This essay intends to fill these gaps, proposing an integrated model in Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) that combines entrepreneurial orientation, absorption capacity, ambidexterity, innovative performance and performance. We advocate a framework that integrates all five buildings. We also suggest that the model be tested using structural equation modeling. By filling the theoretical gap, the visualization of the proposed theoretical model encourages MSEs to improve their entrepreneurial orientations, aiming to capture external knowledge to innovate their actions, aiming at a better performance. This study examines the influence of socioemotional wealth (SEW) dimensions on the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and innovation performance in family firms. Based on an analysis of a dataset comprising 145 family firms, our findings provide evidence that SEW positively moderates the association between EO and innovation performance. Notably, the dimension (E) emotional attachment of family members within SEW solely drives this interaction effect. Surprisingly, none of the other dimensions exhibit a significant moderating effect on the entrepreneurial orientation–innovation performance relationship. Furthermore, the overall moderation is substantially more pronounced for multidimensional SEW than for unidimensional SEW. Our findings challenge the results of previous studies on the entrepreneurial orientation–performance relationship in family firms, which considered SEW as unidimensional. Finally, we discuss implications for corporate entrepreneurship as well as SEW literature and provide directions for future research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

While youth and future generations will carry the burden of the crisis's long-term economic and social implications, short-term economic and equity considerations may outweigh their business sustainability. The purpose of this study is to find out and analyze the entrepreneurial orientation impact on business sustainability during COVID-19 pandemic. A sample of 101 young respondents was selected from small and medium online businesses in Jakarta. A random sampling technique was executed. For this study, a cross-sectional and quantitative research design was used based on the survey process. The two-part questionnaire was used for data collection. Structural Equation Model (SEM) was used to assess the hypothesis of this study. The result shows that entrepreneurial orientation has a positive and significant impact directly on business sustainability. The same situation also occurred as an indirect effect of entrepreneurial orientation on business sustainability through innovation performance. This study suggests that online small and medium entrepreneurs need to implement entrepreneurial orientation strategy to grow their online customer acquisition business process. Young e-business owners are advised that understanding the importance of constantly producing, evaluating, and successfully implementing new ideas have a higher chance of surviving and prospering in today's competitive global market. There has been a steady decline in sales of small and medium enterprises caused by the recent global occurrence. Viewing these current changes, it is clear that the sustainability of local businesses and their ecology are under threat, and that an entrepreneurial viewpoint would yield a deeper understanding and solution to this emerging problem. The purpose of this study is to find out and analyze the entrepreneurial orientation impact on business sustainability during COVID-19 pandemic. Structural equation modeling and the partial least squares model were used to present path modeling and multigroup analysis. Data have been collected during November-December 2020 when the pandemic was still at large. Using a sample of 101 young online business owners in Jakarta area, our results reveal that entrepreneurial orientation has a positive and significant impact directly on business sustainability and indirectly mediated by innovation performance. This study suggests that online small and medium entrepreneurs need to implement entrepreneurial orientation strategy and make an innovation for their products/services to make their business sustain. - Abstract
Purpose: Drawing on the resource-based view of the firm, the study aims to develop a holistic conceptual model to examine the nexus between entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and innovation performance (INPF) of social enterprises in an emerging economy, Ghana. Design/methodology/approach: A quantitative research approach was used to collect and analyse 206 usable survey questionnaires through structural equation modelling-partial least square. Findings: Results demonstrate that all the dimensions of EO – innovativeness, proactiveness, autonomy, risk-taking and competitive aggressiveness significantly influence the INPF of social enterprises. However, a paired t-test analysis shows that risk-taking has the largest effect size, followed by innovativeness, proactiveness, autonomy and competitive aggressiveness, in that order. The results highlight that social enterprises must exploit EO as a strategic asset in their corporate strategies and initiatives to realize competitive advantage and enhance INPF. Originality/value: This study makes an incremental contribution to the extant literature by examining the impact of EO on INPF of social enterprises; it thus extends the EO framework from the conservative entrepreneurship context to the social entrepreneurship context, thereby advancing our understanding of the development and application of the EO framework in the social entrepreneurship context in emerging economies. The study concludes with the theoretical and managerial implications of the findings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aims to assess the relationship between effectual control orientation (ECO) and a firm's innovation performance, with entrepreneurial orientation (EO) as a mediator, in a corporate context. Based on data from 157 established corporations in Germany, the findings indicate that ECO has a positive effect on innovation performance. The study also shows that EO's behavioral dimension (i.e., innovation and proactiveness), rather than risk-taking, acts as a mediating mechanism between ECO and innovation performance. The empirical results provide theoretical and managerial implications for innovation, effectuation, and EO literatures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

LEAKAGE ,INFORMATION economy ,JUDGMENT sampling ,SAMPLING (Process) - Abstract
In today's knowledge-based economy, organizations are progressively accumulating the knowledge, which they required for innovation, from outside their boundaries. Having accepted the important role of knowledge sharing in innovation performance, it is disappointing to note that the potential harmful impacts of accidental and intentional knowledge leakage on this relationship are still neglected or undeveloped in the literature. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the impact of knowledge sharing and entrepreneurial orientation on organization's innovation performance, considering intentional and accidental leakage of knowledge. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire from 151 manufacturing SMEs operating in Malaysia, listed in Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) directory of 2017. Purposive sampling technique was used in this study and data were analyzed using partial least squares technique. The findings of this study show that there is a positive and significant relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and knowledge sharing (R
2 = 0.140). Moreover, knowledge sharing and entrepreneurial orientation have a positive and significant effect on innovation performance (R2 = 0.500). In addition, the results show that accidental knowledge leakage negatively moderates the relationship between knowledge sharing and innovation performance. However, accidental knowledge leakage has no moderating effect in the same relationship. This research is important due to the increasing complexity and the networked nature of innovation and high risk of knowledge leakage in this environment. The findings of this study contribute to the understanding of the potentially positive and negative issues related to entrepreneurial orientation, knowledge sharing, innovation performance, and knowledge leakage, which have thus far remained empirically under-researched. Beyond the direct association of BDAC with an entrepreneur’s readiness and innovation performance (IP), we also tested the mediation of entrepreneurial readiness between the BDAC and IP of sport-based entrepreneurs.

Using a survey of 324 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) of the Yangtze River Delta in China, this study discusses the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation, absorptive capacity, environmental dynamism, and corporate technological innovation performance. The results based on a moderated moderation model show that the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and innovation performance is significantly positive. The absorptive capacity can positively moderate this relationship. When the external environment is in high dynamism, the moderating effect of absorptive capacity will be stronger than when the environment is in low dynamism. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PurposeWhile the significance of organizational resources and capabilities is widely discussed, little is known about their interrelationships as well as benefits for firms that are involved in coopetitive relationships. Against this backdrop, the purpose of this paper is to investigate the performance effects of entrepreneurial orientation, strategic intent and potential absorptive capacity as well as their complementarity effects on operational and innovation performance for firms involved in horizontal coopetitive relationships.Design/methodology/approachDrawing upon the resource-based-view, dynamic capabilities and the relational view theories, this study forwards numerous hypotheses between the constructs of interest. The proposed hypotheses are tested utilizing survey data collected from 313 horizontal coopetitive relationships.FindingsThe results clearly suggest that entrepreneurial orientation, strategic intent and potential absorptive capacity could positively impact innovation and operational performance outcomes independently. In addition, the authors also find strategic intent and potential absorptive capacity to have differential moderating effects on the relationships between entrepreneurial orientation and the performance outcomes.Originality/valueThe findings suggest that although strategic intent and potential absorptive capacity could lead to performance benefits independently, when it comes to coopetitive relationships, the use of both these capabilities may not substantially increase the positive impact of entrepreneurial orientation on performance outcomes. Specifically, given that these capabilities could intensify competitiveness as well as hostility between partners, they seem to affect the firm's performance differently.

Existing research on enterprise innovation focuses on internal perspectives such as resource and capabilities. However, enterprise innovation needs not only the input of enterprises themselves, but also the support of institutional environments. Based on the institution–strategy–performance research paradigm, which combines perspectives from both institutional theory and resource-based theory, this research explores the mechanism of institutional support on the innovation performance of new ventures, focusing on the mediating role of entrepreneurial orientation and the moderating role of innovative resource acquisition. An empirical analysis based on 278 survey samples shows that: (formal/informal) institutional support positively affects the innovation performance of new ventures; entrepreneurial orientation plays an intermediary role between institutional support and the innovation performance of new ventures; innovation resource acquisition not only positively regulates the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and the innovation performance of new ventures, but also enhances the mediation of entrepreneurial orientation between institutional support and innovation performance. The conclusion shows that institutional support plays an important role in the innovation practice of new ventures, and can provide guidance for the innovation management practices of new ventures. This study discusses the theoretical and managerial implications for enterprise innovation research in detail by identifying and testing the relationships among these constructs.

Unlike alliance proponents, we posited that high-tech small firms (HTSFs) may not prefer interfirm collaboration for innovation activities. Drawing on the transaction cost and corporate entrepreneurship perspectives, we proposed that boundary decisions in innovation activities are determined by the perceived uncertainties of innovation projects and entrepreneurial orientation (EO). We also examined the consequences of collaborative innovation. In a sample of 178 Korean HTSFs in software development, we found that some aspects of perceived uncertainty prevented collaborative innovation, and that EO moderated this effect, enhancing the outcomes of collaborative innovation. We discuss theoretical and practical insights of these findings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The influence of organizational ambidexterity on innovation and the growth of enterprises has gradually become an important research topic in the field of strategic management and organization theory. This paper builds up a theoretical framework of the relationship between organizational ambidexterity and innovation performance with regards to corporate entrepreneurship orientation. We select 175 companies from high and new technology industries in China's three large cities, Beijing, Tianjin and Dalian, as samples to carry out an empirical test. We find that the balance and complement of organizational ambidexterity are positively correlated with the innovation performance of enterprises; a corporate entrepreneurial orientation has a significantly moderating effect on the relationship between the balance dimension of organizational ambidexterity and innovation performance, yet it has no significant positive moderating effect on the relationship between the combined dimension of organizational ambidexterity and innovation performance. Entrepreneurial orientation has become an enormously significant construct in the innovation studies literature. Predominantly for SMEs, its role has been widely recognized in almost all regional contexts across the globe. The present study is aimed at investigating the effects of entrepreneurial orientation, transformational leadership and organizational commitment on innovation performance. The data for the present study were collected from 1095 employees working at various levels in SMEs. The present study used partial least square structural equation modeling to examine the constructed hypotheses. The findings suggested the significantly positive direct relationships among entrepreneurial orientations, organizational commitment and innovation performance. Besides, organizational commitment positively mediated the relationships between entrepreneurial orientation and innovation performance. Additionally, this study also found the significant moderation of transformational leadership among entrepreneurship orientation and organizational commitment. Leaders of small and medium-sized enterprises should practice entrepreneurial orientation (innovativeness, proactiveness, and risk-taking) and transformation leadership (articulating a compelling vision, focus on goal achievement, and creative problem solving) to enhance the innovation performance of their firms. Moreover, this study provides a robust mechanism for leaders at SMEs to develop strategies for enhancing the willingness of the firms to bring innovation and offer new products and services. The policymakers should enhance the emotional attachment of employees with their firms, sense of moral obligation to remain with the firm which will, in turn, increase the organizational commitment of employees for innovation performance. The study provides empirical evidence to the resource-based view in the context of SMEs. The study delivers solid theoretical and practical implications to experts, leaders and policymakers.

Previous research examining the relationship between centralization and innovation performance has suggested conflicting views and mixed results. Drawing on the knowledge-based view, this study identifies two mechanisms underlying the relationship between centralization and innovation performance: information flow and behavior change of organizational members. We argue that the relationship between centralization and innovation performance can be positively moderated if the constrained information flow can be compensated, or the undermined motivation of employees can be adjusted, or both information and behavior drawbacks can be mitigated. With a sample of Chinese high-tech firms, we find that a positive relationship between centralization and innovation performance is more likely to occur if the firm owns higher-level human capital, charismatic leadership or entrepreneurial orientation. These findings shed light on the debate concerning when centralization enhances innovation performance and provide managerial implications for firms in emerging economies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The emergence of advanced technologies has brought new challenges and opportunities for all kinds of business organizations. In a technologically advanced era, innovation plays a dominant role for the successful operation of the commercial landscape. Therefore, the current study was conducted to investigate the impact of network capabilities (NC) and frugal innovation (FI) on innovation performance (IP). Furthermore, the mediating role of FI and moderating role of innovation strategies has also been tested on the link between NC and IP. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) registered with small and medium enterprises development authorities (SMEDA) were approached for the completion of the current study. Only 509 owner/managers agreed to participate. A quantitative research design was employed for the current study. During the two-three months process of data collection only 387 complete responses were received from the SMEs working in Pakistan's big cities. Correlation, regression and bootstrap methods were applied to test the study hypotheses. The findings revealed that NC positively affect FI and IP. Furthermore, the findings also confirmed the mediating effect of FI between NC and IP link. The performance of SMEs working in emerging economies is largely based on their innovative activities. In this dynamic scenario SMEs' survival is attached to continuous IP in their products and services. The study delivers solid theoretical and practical implications to experts, leaders and policymakers. info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

External collaboration is an effective way for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to improve innovation performance and obtain sustainable competitiveness. This study focuses on the influence of external collaboration on innovation performance of SMEs. Specifically, this study classifies external collaboration into formal and informal external collaboration, and explores their different impacts on innovation performance of SMEs, respectively. Moreover, this study examines the moderating effects of managers&rsquo, entrepreneurial orientation and organizational legitimacy on the relationships between formal and informal collaboration and innovation performance of SMEs. Survey data from 213 high-tech manufacturing SMEs in China reveals that: (1) Both formal and informal external collaboration have positive effects on innovation performance of SMEs, and informal external collaboration offers greater benefits than formal external collaboration, (2) managers&rsquo, entrepreneurial orientation positively moderates the relationship between informal external collaboration and SMEs&rsquo, innovation performance, (3) organizational legitimacy positively moderates the relationships between formal and informal external collaboration and SMEs&rsquo, innovation performance. This study enriches the research on the relationship between external collaboration and innovation performance of SMEs, and advances the understanding of the contextual factors between formal and informal external collaboration-SMEs&rsquo, innovation performance relationships through elucidating the moderating role of managers&rsquo, entrepreneurial orientation and organizational legitimacy.

- Abstract
In the strategy literature, the effect of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) on firm performance has been investigated in many studies. The latest researches investigate the relationship between them by considering the effects of third variables which can be internal and external factors. Within this framework, our study focuses on the mediating role of innovation performance and differentiation strategy on the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and firm performance. The survey of this study is conducted on 991 middle and senior managers of 331 middle and large scale firms operating in manufacturing industry in Turkey, in 2014. The data gathered from questionnaires are analyzed with SPSS statistical package program at firm level. The results of analyses showed that both differentiation strategy and innovation performance mediate the relationship between EO and firm performance. Also, analyses results revealed another mediating effect in which differentiation strategy mediates the relationship between EO and innovation performance.

[EN] This paper explores the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and innovation performance taken organizational learning capability as a mediating variable. This research question is important because allows us to better understand why entrepreneurial orientation don’t always increase organizational performance. We consider innovation performance as a measure very related to business performance. Using structural equations modeling in a sample of 182 ceramic tile industry firms, the results show that organizational learning capability plays a significant role in determining the effects of entrepreneurial orientation on innovation performance, [ES] Este artículo examina la relación entre la orientación emprendedora y el desempeño innovador tomando como variable mediadora la capacidad de aprendizaje organizativo.

Scholars have proposed that taking risks in organizations is important for explaining innovation performance. Scholars traditionally have analyzed this link from two unconnected perspectives. From a managerial perspective, entrepreneurial orientation and leadership theories have been used to explain the positive relation between manager's risk-taking and innovation. On the other hand, research on creativity suggests that a risk-taking climate helps to explain the generation of novel ideas. However, there is little empirical research analyzing this link. This study examines the possibility of a connection between managerial risk-taking propensity, risk-taking climate and innovation performance. To do so, we test a quantitative model where the impact of the manager' risk-taking propensity on innovation is mediated by its effect on risk-taking climate. Structural equation modeling is used to test the research hypotheses on a data set of 182 firms from the Spanish and Italian ceramic tile industry, The authors are grateful for the finance received from the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (ECO2011-28706, ECO2011-28749 and ECO2011-29863) to carry out this research. Trabajo presentado al EU-SPRI Forum Conference: Management of Innovation Policies: new forms of collaboration in policy design, implementation and evaluation, celebrado en Madrid (España) del 10 al 12 de Abril de 2013., Firms that partake in export activity are entrepreneurial in nature because exporting firms would benefit by proactively seeking new markets, engaging in innovative action to meet local market’s needs, and be able and willing to take risks by venturing into previously unknown markets. While prior studies have looked at the importance of entrepreneurial orientation, organizational learning or innovation in export strategy, they have overlooked the process view that allows understanding the way through which firms with this kind of characteristics are able to assure better export results. Through the use of structural equation modelling in a sample of 182 small and medium enterprises ceramic firms, the authors demonstrate that entrepreneurial orientation is a precursor of export intensity but this relationship is mediated by organizational learning and innovation performance. This result highlights the process view; those firms with entrepreneurial orientation are able to have the capability of learning and superior innovation performance which finally increases export intensity. Political implications could be done with our study. Governments that reinforce innovation policies in the firms are helping the openness of the companies indirectly.

- Abstract
This paper proposes a conceptual model of the effects of entrepreneurial orientation on innovation performance, open innovation proclivity, and organizational openness. We argue that high levels of entrepreneurial orientation increases innovation performance. Moreover, we posit that a higher degree of entrepreneurial orientation also positively affects the open innovation proclivity and the openness of a firm. The latter two constructs reinforce the suggested positive effects of entrepreneurial orientation. The article contributes to the ongoing dialog in the innovation and the entrepreneurship literatures, especially by suggesting open innovation proclivity as a missing link between the entrepreneurial orientation of a firm and its innovation performance levels.
