Purpose: The aim of this article is to identify and evaluate the economic benefits for companies that result from the provision of business services provided by a Shared Service Centre. Design/methodology/approach: The study used primary and secondary data. Data were obtained using, among others: descriptive analysis, content analysis, diagnostic survey, cause-effect analysis and qualitative analysis. The study, in the form of in-depth interviews, was conducted in 2021-2022. It was attended by experts with many years of professional experience in managerial and managerial positions. Findings: In the search for new opportunities to improve the efficiency of enterprises, a conceptual framework for an enterprise business model was developed, taking into account Shared Service Centre services. In a turbulent environment, Shared Service Centre services are becoming valuable competitive instruments, especially in terms of their ability to influence a company's financial situation, as confirmed by the experts participating in the study. Research limitations/implications: The article does not undertake a quantitative assessment of the impact of the services provided by Shared Service Centers on the financial situation of the enterprises covered by the study. Due to the confidentiality of the data, the experts participating in the study did not consent to their disclosure. The results of these analyzes encourage further, extended research in this area, including entities publishing financial data. Practical implications: The essence of the services provided by the Shared Service Centre means that they have a significant role to play in the management of the company. Indeed, all categories of Shared Service Centre services are fundamentally oriented towards a greater degree of coordination and flexibility of activities and the reduction of associated costs. Originality/value: The proposed enterprise business model can contribute to the improvement of decision-making tools for cooperation with the Shared Service Centre, in an effort to improve the financial situation of enterprises. This need is triggered by constant cost competition, which prompts companies to create an efficient value chain to build competitive advantage and grow. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper examines the impact of institutional pressure (IP), top management support (TMS), green supply chain management practices (GSCM), and supply chain competitive advantage (SCCA) on corporate environmental performance (EP). We also analyze the mediation effect of GSCM on the interplay between TMS and EP. Additionally, the paper also provides an analysis of the moderating role of SCCA between IP and EP. To attain the objective of this research, we assembled data from 710 business entities within the Shaanxi province of China utilizing a survey design approach. The structural equation model (SEM) was applied to test and assess the hypothetical outline. The study outcomes empirically show that TMS, GSCM, and SCCA positively and significantly impact EP. Interestingly, our study found an insignificant association between IP and EP. The study's results also demonstrate that IP directly relates to top management support. Moreover, the study's empirical findings reveal that GSCM positively mediates IP and EP. The study findings show that SCCA shapes IP and EP's connection. Accordingly, the practical implications of our study's findings suggest that business managers, investors, and government agencies must know the importance of adopting sustainable practices within the supply chain. Business managers must take action to integrate environmental criteria into supplier selection, evaluate suppliers' EP, and collaborate with eco‐friendly suppliers. Hence, government agencies, stakeholders, and business managers can use this information to shape regulations and policies that encourage businesses to adopt sustainable supply chain practices. Offering incentives such as tax benefits or grants for sustainability initiatives can also promote adoption. The study recommends that a business culture that targets improving EP due to IP and top management support is essential in achieving GSCM practices, thereby promising competitive advantage. DIVERSITY in organizations , *INDUSTRIAL management , *LITERATURE reviews , *SOCIAL pressure , *COMPETITIVE advantage in business - Abstract
The theme of organizational inclusion and diversity emerges as a response to social pressure from various groups. However, organizations have come to perceive diversity as a source of competitive differentiation. The aim of this study is to interpret the relationship between ethnic-racial organizational diversity and competitive advantage. Employing a qualitative approach, this research utilized bibliographic review and literature review as methodological procedures. The results indicate that the reviewed literature indiscriminately attributes competitive advantages arising from other forms of diversity to ethnic-racial diversity. Only one analyzed text identified specific positive factors related to ethnic-racial diversity. In light of these results, we propose criticism for companies neglecting the management of the impact of ethnic-racial diversity and the black underrepresentation in the social framework. This study contributes to outlining the Brazilian scientific framework on the subject and establishing sources of competitive advantage associated with ethnic-racial diversity practices. PARTIAL least squares regression , *QUANTILE regression , *INDUSTRIAL management , *OPEN innovation , *HOTELS , *ORGANIZATIONAL aims & objectives , *COMPETITIVE advantage in business , *SMALL business - Abstract
This paper analyses the effects of open innovation (OI), organizational strategy and the existence of a corporate risk management (CRM) strategy on competitive advantage (CA) in cost, service and product in the Portuguese hotel sector. This paper uses a survey over 251 CEOs of Portuguese small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) hotels and applies two complementary statistical methods: partial least squares regression and quantile regression. It can be stated that both OI and the degree of dynamism and flexibility of the organizational structure and CRM are relevant to explain the different types of competitive advantage. However, the results show that the importance of the incidence of the different explanatory factors considered is different depending on the type of competitive advantage that we are analysing and the relevance of disaggregating those associated with AI (inbound and outbound) and organizational strategy (dynamic of the environment, internal organizational flexibility and innovative strategic position). Thus, the CRM variable is the fundamental variable in the explanation of the competitive advantage in cost, while the incidence of inbound OI is especially relevant in the CA in service and product. Within organizational strategy, the factor that most clearly affects competitive advantage is the strategic position with respect to innovation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The research aims to unravel Green Competitive Advantage (GCA) management which has emerged as a crucial strategy in recent years for organizations seeking a competitive edge. The growing literature on GCA underscores its significance, highlighting its potential to enhance organizational sustainability and performance while also providing a competitive advantage. The adoption of green innovation and high environmental awareness has been shown to yield improved performance and a better competitive advantage. This contributes to sustainable business practices and positions the company favorably in the business landscape. Therefore, understanding the implications of GCA is essential for policymakers who need to define the best mechanism for developing green innovation. This, in turn, can help organizations achieve a competitive advantage and ensure business sustainability. The study emphasizes the importance of GCA literacy among practitioners and stakeholders. The novelty of the research results indicates that understanding encourages the selection of green changes within organizations, promoting GCA as a sustainable business framework. Summing up, GCA management not only offers a competitive edge for businesses but is also a step towards a sustainable future. Therefore, exploring the role of GCA in business management and its potential implications is of utmost importance in today's business world. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In light of the market uncertainty for hospitality and tourism companies caused by COVID-19, which even led to the legal closure of borders, a study model is proposed. Our model considers market uncertainty as a moderator of the principles of business management. This moderator leads to a sustainable competitive advantage through organizational values, participative leadership, market orientation and innovative intensity. The viability of the proposed model has been analyzed with a mixed methodology using the Smart-PLS tool, on the one hand, and two fsQCA-based samples of hospitality and tourism companies located in Spain and South Korea, on the other hand. The results show the relevance of participative leadership supported by organizational values in obtaining a sustainable competitive advantage. This will help the tourism sector to adapt to future health pandemics. Market uncertainty has not affected participative leadership in achieving this sustainable competitive advantage. The combined effect of coercion (public and private pressure), self‐interest (competitive advantage) and conviction (intrinsically motivated or genuine) explain why environmental issues have become a key priority for companies. While research has explored coercion and competitive advantage, the role of conviction has received little attention. This paper aims to address this gap. Conviction, which has been correlated with institutional and individual drivers, offers more stable results and a potential multiplier effect as good examples are disseminated by imitation throughout an industry. While the role of imitation has drawn increasing attention of business management studies, it has received scant attention in research on sustainability. This is the second gap this paper aims to address, contributing to the literature on sustainability in two ways: firstly, we will further explore the role of conviction in environmental sustainability; secondly, employing a compartmental model of epidemic propagation, used for other social phenomena, we model the role genuine examples by leaders can play within an industry and the dissemination of good behavior by imitation. Defining genuine conviction as the voluntary mitigation of the externalities of a firm's operations beyond that required by law or the market, substantiated in the responsible behavior of its leaders, our model discovers patterns that policymakers could use to create a "sustainability epidemic". We suggest mathematical models of epidemics can be applied to sustainability, offering a fresh perspective on the phenomenon of imitation, allowing us to discover how some cultural and social habits can be used. The goal of this research was to look at how market orientation and corporate innovation affected the success of PT Perkebunan Nusantara II, a state-owned corporation. PT Perkebunan Nusantara II is currently facing a challenge in achieving the Health Assessment Level of State-Owned Enterprises in categories B and BB (Unhealthy). Digital change acts as a mediator, while competitive advantage acts as a moderator. The study population consists of business unit leaders from Top Management, Middle Management, and Lower Management. A total of 255 people were included in the study, one from each of the 25 business divisions. The sample strategies employed were Proportional Cluster Sampling and Stratified Random Sampling. SmartPLS as an analytical tool for structural equation modeling. With a total effect coefficient of 0.547 and 0.310, the findings demonstrate that market orientation and corporate innovation have a positive and significant impact on competitive advantage. With a total coefficient of influence of 0.343 and 0.108, market orientation and corporate innovation have a positive but not significant impact on business unit performance. With a total coefficient of influence of 0.570, competitive advantage has a positive and significant impact on the performance of business units. With a total influence coefficient of 0.090, digital transformation is able to reduce the impact of market orientation on business unit performance. With a total effect coefficient of -0.087, digital transformation is unable to control the impact of the company's innovation on business unit performance. At PT Perkebunan Nusantara II in Medan, North Sumatra, competitive advantage can mediate the impact of market orientation on business unit performance with an influence coefficient of 0.311, while corporate innovation through competitive advantage has a positive and significant impact on business unit performance with an influence coefficient of 0.177. Modern conditions of turbulence in the external economic environment require business structures not only to respond quickly to new challenges, but also to form scenario models of behaviour in order to maintain competitive market advantages based on an objective review of their own commercial potential and reserves. It is noteworthy that the internal risks of the business structure are the primary obstacle in the growth of the efficiency of the commercial structure and determine its level of profitability. The purpose of the research is to assess the factor of formation of biased management decisions and the features of their implementation as factors of reducing the manifestation of internal business risks. Indicated that the system of effective business management must always take into account the manifestation and pressure of internal risk due to a number of factors that cannot be accurately assessed. Modern methodology of project management and project management does not take into account the tool of biased decisions. Anti-crisis management is presented as a mandatory element of management knowledge. Therefore, the further development of management should focus on the adoption of biased management decisions and the development of mechanisms for their timely implementation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study analyzes the effects of inbound and outbound open innovation, along with organizational strategy and corporate risk management, on competitive advantage and disadvantage in the Portuguese hospitality sector's cost, service, and product. We use a quantitative approach based on fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) of survey data from 251 executive directors of hotels from Portuguese small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The results allow visualization of the interactions of inbound and outbound open innovation with corporate risk management and organizational strategy in order to generate competitive advantage. The results demonstrate that corporate risk management is a keystone for a competitive cost advantage, whereas inbound open innovation plays a fundamental role in obtaining competitive advantages for products and services. Other factors, such as outbound open innovation or those linked with organizational strategy, have less impact, and/or the sign of their influence depends on the configuration of the remaining variables. Business Intelligence is a collection of strategies and technologies used in business analysis to acquire and turn raw data into relevant and usable information. BI systems are able to manage massive amounts of unstructured data, which aids in the identification, development, and creation of new strategic business possibilities. Bi's objective is to simplify the interpretation of massive amounts of data. Identifying possibilities and adopting a forward-looking plan may provide organisations with a competitive advantage and long-term stability. BI systems can give historical, current, and projected company operations data. These are the purposes of BI technology: Reporting; Data exploitation; Business performance management; Comparative analysis; Predictive analysis; Prescriptive analysis. BI is utilised to support a broad variety of business choices, from operational to strategic, with the most fundamental decisions being product positioning and pricing. Combining data from a firm operating in an external market with data from a company operating in an internal market, such as data and financial operations, demonstrates the high efficiency of BI. This paper presents a self-learning technique for adapting modular automated assembly systems. The technique consists of automatically analysing sensor data and acquiring experience on the changes made on an assembly system to cope with new production requirements or to recover from disruptions. Experience is generalised into operational knowledge that is used to aid engineers in future adaptations by guiding them throughout the process. At each step, applicable changes are presented and ranked based on: (1) similarity between the current context and those in the experience base; (2) estimate of the impact on system performance. The experience model and the self-learning technique reflect the modular structure of the assembly machine and are particularly suitable for plug and produce systems, which are designed to offer high levels of self-organisation and adaptability. Adaptations can be performed and evaluated at different levels: from the smallest pluggable unit to the whole assembly system. Knowledge on individual modules can be reused when modules are plugged into other systems. An experimental evaluation has been conducted on an industrial case study and the results show that, with experience-based learning, adaptations of plug and produce systems can be performed in a shorter time. The main objective of the research work was to identify the dimensions of complexity and study the relationship between these defined dimensions in the industrial automation sector. To achieve these objectives in the study, there was assumed the following major hypothesis: With the increasing role of dynamic cross-section of the complexity there is growing importance of relationship dimension for competitive advantage. In the study there were diagnosed four dimensions of complexity. Existence of the relationship between these four identified dimensions of complexity occurred by the use of the Fisher's exact test, which is a variant of the test of independence X2. Furthermore, there were calculated VCramer factors to estimate the intensity of the above-mentioned relationship between analyzed dimensions. The research discovered that the three out of four dimensions such as the number of elements, variety of elements and uncertainty depend on the last dimension of complexity which is the relationship between elements. In the turbulent environment there is a growing importance of the relationship dimension. It forms competitive advantage and is a key condition of success in creating a new type of modern enterprise strategy that occurs within complexity management in the industrial automation sector. Purpose: As inter-company cooperation and competition grow, orchestration capability plays an increasingly important role. This paper aims to present an overview of orchestration capability in the business and management field, identify the current state and explore future research trends. Design/methodology/approach: This literature review is based on 132 papers collected from the Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection data (1997–March 2021). HistCite was used to analyze the year of publication, leading scholars, influential articles, key journals, top countries and institutions. Research streams were identified from analysis of co-citation, bibliographic coupling and keyword co-occurrence by HistCite and VOSviewer. Findings: This paper finds that Hitt MA is the most prolific scholar, and the Strategic Management Journal is the most dominating publication among the orchestration capability publications. The USA and Texas A&M University are the most influential countries and institutions, respectively. Three major clusters are identified based on citation mapping, bibliographic coupling analysis of documents and keywords co-occurrence analysis: dynamic capability and resource-based view, resource orchestration and network orchestration. Based on the three clusters, the authors analyze how resource orchestration and network orchestration research develops over time and summarize the evolutionary path of orchestration capability literature. Research limitations/implications: This article builds on data from WoS Core Collection, and some new but important articles may not be analyzed, since bibliometrics consider high citation as an indicator to select influential articles. Practical implications: With the rapid development of the digital economy, the frequent interactions between companies pose many challenges for businesses. Enterprises can take orchestration actions effectively and efficiently from various perspectives and continuously improve their orchestration capabilities in collaboration with partners to achieve and sustain competitive advantages. Originality/value: This paper provides a systematic review of orchestration capability using bibliometric analysis, which has not been employed in previous studies. Besides, this article presents a broad understanding of how scholars have researched the subject over the years. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Many people with neurological conditions such as autism spectrum disorder and dyslexia have extraordinary skills, including in pattern recognition, memory, and mathematics. Yet they often struggle to fit the profiles sought by employers. A growing number of companies, including SAP, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and Microsoft, have reformed their HR processes in order to access neurodiverse talent—and are seeing productivity gains, quality improvement, boosts in innovative capabilities, and increased employee engagement as a result. The programs vary but have seven major elements in common. Companies should: • Team with governments or nonprofits experienced in working with people with disabilities • Use noninterview assessment processes • Train other workers and managers in what to expect • Set up a support system • Tailor methods for managing careers • Scale the program • Mainstream the program The work for managers will be harder, but the payoff to companies will be considerable: access to more of their employees’ talents, along with diverse perspectives that will help them compete. Scientific research is one of the pillars of local and global investment, and that is why countries are seeking to prepare qualified researchers with knowledge and skills, to overcome the challenges and difficulties facing scientific research in the Arab world, which led to outputs that are not worthy of the history of the Arabs and their outstanding contributions in the field of scientific research. This research dealt with the issue of agility and obesity in the performance of researchers when preparing and formulating their research projects and theses. By reviewing the theoretical literature on this subject, the researcher noticed a research interest since the eighties of the twentieth century in studying the term of agility in various fields, including management, business administration, shopping, production, sports and physical sciences, engineering and others. On the other hand, there is a lack of research interest in studying or writing about the concept of agility in the field of scientific research, especially with regard to the performance of researchers in their projects and theses. Therefore, this research aimed to study agility and obesity in scientific research, a theoretical study, using the measurement or transformation strategy referred to by Assaf (2012). From the previous theoretical literature on organizational agility, strategic agility, agility in athlete performance and other conceptual theoretical frameworks and studies, the researcher precedent, and transformed it into agility in the field of scientific research. In light of this, the current research reached to formulate a theoretical framework about the concept of scientific agility and obesity according to the research paradigm, by providing a definition of research agility and its requirements and characteristics of agile research performance, and clarifying the concept of research obesity and its risks. The researcher also listed the characteristics of a good research thesis, and identified the most common mistakes that researchers fall into when preparing their projects and theses, and cause the obesity in their performance, sagging project and theses and loss of competitive advantage. In light of these findings, the researcher formulated several recommendations, including holding training courses on agility and research obesity, and preparing a guide for researchers about the most common mistakes in preparing the project and theses that cause their performance obesity, so that this research contributes to its findings in spreading the culture of agility performance to engaged in scientific research in universities and research centers that enable them to exploit the essential opportunities and capabilities in their research production to achieve competitive advantage, and enlighten them about the dangers of research obesity and the scientific weakness and slack in their scientific production, which prevents them from achieving competitive advantage and the delay of their universities in international rankings. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of emerging market professional service small and medium-sized enterprises' (PSF SME) internal competencies and capabilities on their ability to establish relationship value among clients and achieve superior financial performance. This study addresses the paucity of research on emerging market PSF SMEs and their ability to build value for their clients. Design/methodology/approach: Data were collected from 251 senior managers or owners of PSF SMEs who were from an emerging market economy but had operations in various foreign markets. The two-step structural equation modeling procedure was used to analyze the data and investigate the hypothesized relationships. Findings: The results show the positive impacts of the PSF SME's human capital on innovativeness, service capabilities and relationship value. Human capital also had indirect positive impacts on relationship value and financial performance. Service capabilities were found to have a positive impact on relationship value and financial performance. In addition, innovativeness was found to have a positive impact on financial performance. Practical implications: Emerging market PSF SMEs can gain competitive advantages and build solid long-term relationships with clients in the global marketplace when they focus on strengthening their human capital resources and successfully leveraging their innovativeness and service capabilities. Originality/value: The study fills a gap in international business and management literature by offering guidance on how emerging market PSF SMEs can effectively use their internal resources and capabilities to build solid relationships with clients, deliver superior services and achieve global marketplace success. COMPETITIVE advantage in business , *CAPITALISM , *WEALTH , *AMBIDEXTERITY , *INDUSTRIAL management - Abstract
In one of the most influential contributions to modern political economy, Hall and Soskice have launched a distinction between 'liberal' and 'coordinated' market economies, placing the Nordic countries firmly in the latter category. We argue that, while the H&S distinction may serve classificatory purposes, seeing the Nordic model in terms of 'coordinated capitalism' blurs the distinctive features of the Nordic countries' success as productive and fair economies. We contend that the central formula behind this success lies in what we call the Nordic model's ambidexterity – the capacity to combine collaborative and competitive elements and skilfully navigate between them. Using an interdisciplinary perspective (inspired by organisation theory, cultural semiotics and evolutionary analysis), we provide a conceptual basis for reinterpreting the Nordic Model as an ambidextrous combination of culturally rooted, collaborative strategies that are subsequently competitively exposed. The article illustrates the workings of this ambidexterity in three societal domains: work life (including female participation), resource management – illustrated by the Norwegian petro-economy – and international business management and regulation with a focus on CSR. In each case we will show how collaboration is intertwined with pragmatic competitive exposure, yielding high productivity, high welfare, as well as fair income and wealth distribution.
