Objective. To establish better diagnosis thinking and provide advanced understanding of MSK, the CT imaging features, clinical characteristics, and the expression of suspected genes in the kidney spatiotemporal immune zonation and fetal renal development were investigated. Methods. 17 patients with MSK hospitalized in our hospital were selected as our research subjects. Human Phenotype Ontology, MalaCards: The Human Disease Database, GeneCards: The Human Gene Database, Human Protein Atlas, and Single Cell Expression Atlas were used to analyze this disease. Results. In our 17 patients, the incidence of MSK tended to be the same in male and female, and the onset age of MSK was probably 31-50 years old. The top one related disease of MSK was nephrocalcinosis and the most frequent phenotype related to MSK was nephrolithiasis. In addition, the expression of HNF1B, CLCN5, GDNF, ATP6V0A4, ATP6V1B1, LAMA2, RET, ACAN, and ABCC8 has been implicated in both human kidney immune zonation and fetal kidney development. Conclusions. HNF1B, CLCN5, GDNF, ATP6V0A4, ATP6V1B1, LAMA2, RET, ACAN, and ABCC8 could be independent indicators for the diagnosis and preventive intervention of MSK patients, and abnormal kidney development due to mutations in key genes was the underlying cause of MSK.

To uncover novel prognostic and therapeutic targets for BLCA, our study is the first to investigate the role of hsa-mir-183 and its up-regulated predicted target genes in bladder urothelial carcinoma.To address this issue, our study explored the roles of hsa-mir-183 predicted target genes in the prognosis of BLCA via UALCAN, Metascape, Kaplan-Meier plotter, Human Protein Atlas, TIMER2.0, cBioPortal and Genomics of Drug Sensitivity in Cancer databases.High transcriptional expressions of PDCD6, GNG5, PHF6 and MAL2 were markedly relevant to favorable OS in BLCA patients, whereas SLC25A15 and PTDSS1 had opposite expression significance. Additionally, high transcriptional expression of PDCD6, GNG5, PHF6, MAL2, SLC25A15 and PTDSS1 were significantly correlated with BLCA individual cancer stages and molecular subtypes. Furthermore, high mutation rate of PDCD6, MAL2, SLC25A15 and PTDSS1 were observed. Finally, TP53 mutation of PDCD6, GNG5, PHF6, MAL2, SLC25A15 and PTDSS1 has guiding significance for drug selection in BLCA.PDCD6, GNG5, PHF6, MAL2, SLC25A15 and PTDSS1 could be the advanced independent indicators for prognosis of BLCA patients, and TP53-mutation might be a biomarker for drug option in BLCA patients.

Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) are well known for their immunoregulatory roles on allergic inflammation particularly by acting on T cells, B cells, and dendritic cells (DCs). MSC-derived small extracellular vesicles (MSC-sEV) are increasingly considered as one of the main factors for the effects of MSCs on immune responses. However, the effects of MSC-sEV on DCs in allergic diseases remain unclear. MSC-sEV were prepared from the induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC)-MSCs by anion-exchange chromatography, and were characterized with the size, morphology, and specific markers. Human monocyte-derived DCs were generated and cultured in the presence of MSC-sEV to differentiate the so-called sEV-immature DCs (sEV-iDCs) and sEV-mature DCs (sEV-mDCs), respectively. Background Alcohol septal ablation (ASA) has been proven to reverse left ventricular (LV) remodeling in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). However, there are no studies on the effect of sex on LV remodeling after ASA. We aimed to investigate whether sex differences affect the process of LV remodeling and outcome after ASA. Methods A total of 107 patients with obstructive HCM (54 men and 53 women, mean age 51 ± 8 years) were recruited. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) was performed at baseline and 16 months after ASA. The extent of late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) was measured. Results Women had a higher indexed LV mass and smaller indexed LV end-systolic volumes than men at the time of ASA. After ASA, both men and women exhibited a regression of LV mass, and the percentage of mass regression was greater in men than women (15.3% ± 4.3% vs. 10.7% ± 1.8%, p p = 0.038] and LV mass preablation (HR, 1.019, p = 0.010) were independent predictors of cardiovascular outcomes. Conclusions Males with HCM had favorable reverse remodeling with greater LV mass regression post-ASA than female patients. This favorable LV reverse remodeling might provide a mechanistic explanation for the survival advantage in men.

There were gender differences in the prevalence and severity of allergic diseases. Group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) were recently reported to play a critical role in allergic diseases. We investigated the sex-dependent differences in ILC2-dominant allergic airway inflammation model using T\B cell-deficient mice, and determined the gender differences of ILC2 levels in patients with asthma and allergic rhinitis. Female mice exhibited higher levels of inflammatory infiltration and large production of IL-5 and IL-13, especially for ILC2 levels compared to male mice with the induction of IL-33. However, no significant differences were found for the levels of circulating ILC2s between the genders of patients. The treatment of testosterone significantly decreased the intracellular type 2 cytokines in ILC2s and the proliferation of pure ILC2s in response to epithelial cytokines. Our study suggested the sex differences and the involvement of androgen on ILC2s in allergic diseases.

BACKGROUND Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are a subpopulation of cancer cells with the potential of self-renewal and differentiation. CSCs play critical roles in tumorigenesis, recurrence, metastasis, radiation tolerance and chemoresistance. AIM To assess the expression patterns and clinical potential of doublecortin-like kinase 1 (DCLK1) and leucine-rich repeat-containing G-protein-coupled receptor 5 (Lgr5), as prognostic CSC markers of colorectal cancer (CRC). METHODS The expression of DCLK1 and Lgr5 in CRC tissue sections from 92 patients was determined by immunohistochemistry. Each case was evaluated using a combined scoring method based on signal intensity staining (scored 0-3) and the proportion of positively stained cancer cells (scored 0-3). The final staining score was calculated as the intensity score multiplied by the proportion score. Low expression of DCLK1 and Lgr5 was defined as a score of 0-3; high expression of DCLK1 and Lgr5 was defined as a score of ≥ 4. Specimens were categorized as either high or low expression, and the correlation between the expression of DCLK1 or Lgr5 and clinicopathological factors was investigated. RESULTS DCLK1 and Lgr5 expression levels were significantly positively correlated. CRC patients with high DCLK1, Lgr5 and DCLK1/Lgr5 expressions had poorer progression-free survival and overall survival. Moreover, high expression of DCLK1 was an independent prognostic factor for recurrence and overall survival in patients with CRC by multivariate analysis (P = 0.026 and P = 0.049, respectively). CONCLUSION DCLK1 may be a potential CSC marker for the recurrence and survival of CRC patients.

Background. Coronary atherosclerotic plaque could go through rapid progression and induce adverse cardiac events. This study aimed to evaluate the impacts of smoking status on clinical outcomes of coronary non-target lesions. Methods. Consecutive patients with coronary heart disease who underwent two serial coronary angiographies were included. All coronary non-target lesions were recorded at first coronary angiography and analyzed using quantitative coronary angiography at both procedures. Patients were grouped into non-smokers, quitters, and smokers according to their smoking status. Clinical outcomes including rapid lesion progression, lesion re-vascularization, and myocardial infarction were recorded at second coronary angiography. Multivariable Cox regression analysis was used to investigate the association between smoking status and clinical outcomes. Results. A total of 1255 patients and 1670 lesions were included. Smokers were younger and more likely to be male compared with non-smokers. Increase in percent diameter stenosis was significantly lower (2.7 [0.6, 7.1] % vs. 3.5 [0.9, 8.9]%) and 3.4 [1.1, 7.7]%, P = 0.020) in quitters than those in smokers and non-smokers. Quitters tended to have a decreased incidence of rapid lesions progression (15.8% [76/482] vs. 21.6% [74/342] and 20.6% [89/431], P = 0.062), lesion re-vascularization (13.1% [63/482] vs. 15.5% [53/432] and 15.5% [67/431], P = 0.448), lesion-related myocardial infarction (0.8% [4/482] vs. 2.6% [9/342] and 1.4% [6/431], P = 0.110) and all-cause myocardial infarction (1.9% [9/482] vs. 4.1% [14/342] and 2.3% [10/431], P = 0.128) compared with smokers and non-smokers. In multivariable analysis, smoking status was not an independent predictor for rapid lesion progression, lesion re-vascularization, and lesion-related myocardial infarction except that a higher risk of all-cause myocardial infarction was observed in smokers than non-smokers (hazards ratio: 3.00, 95% confidence interval: 1.04–8.62, P = 0.042). Conclusion. Smoking cessation mitigates the increase in percent diameter stenosis of coronary non-target lesions, meanwhile, smokers are associated with increased risk for all-cause myocardial infarction compared with non-smokers.

Background: The Chinese appropriate use criteria (AUC) for coronary revascularization was released in 2016 to improve the use of coronary revascularization. This study aimed to evaluate the association between the appropriateness of coronary revascularization based on the Chinese AUC and 1-year outcomes in stable coronary artery disease (CAD) patients. Methods: We conducted a prospective, multi-center cohort study of stable CAD patients with coronary lesion stenosis ≥50%. After the classification of appropriateness based on Chinese AUC, patients were categorized into the coronary revascularization group or the medical therapy group based on treatment received. The primary outcome was a composite of death, myocardial infarction, stroke, repeated revascularization, and ischemic symptoms with hospital admission. Results: From August 2016 to August 2017, 6085 patients were consecutively enrolled. Coronary revascularization was associated with a lower adjusted hazard of 1-year major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCEs; hazard ratio [HR]: 0.62; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.45–0.86; P = 0.004) than medical therapy in patients with appropriate indications (n = 1617). No significant benefit in 1-year MACCEs was found after revascularization compared to after medical therapy in patients with uncertain indications (n = 2658, HR: 0.81; 95% CI: 0.52–1.25; P = 0.338) and inappropriate indications (n = 1810, HR: 0.80; 95% CI: 0.51–1.23; P = 0.308). Conclusions: In patients with appropriate indications according to Chinese AUC, coronary revascularization was associated with significantly lower risk of MACCEs at 1 year. No benefit was found in coronary revascularization in patients with inappropriate indications. Our findings provide evidence for using Chinese AUC to guide clinical decision-making. Background Severe influenza is often associated with bacterial coinfection and can trigger sepsis, which increases the severity, complexity and mortality of the disease. To determine an effective method for predicting 28-day mortality of emergency department (ED) patients with influenza, we investigated the Mortality in Emergency Department Sepsis (MEDS) score, procalcitonin (PCT) and other relevant biomarkers. Methods We conducted a retrospective, observational, monocentric study, and the endpoint was 28-day mortality. Independent predictors were identified and a new combination predictive model was created both by logistic regression, and the model was evaluated by a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Results A total of 364 consecutive ED admitted patients with influenza were enrolled and 45 patients died within 28 days. For predicting 28-day mortality, the MEDS score and PCT were independent predictors with adjusted odds ratio of 1.318 (95% CI 1.206–1.439) and 1.038 (95% CI 1.010–1.065), and with AUCs of 0.817 (95% CI 0.756–0.878) and 0.793 (95% CI 0.725–0.861), respectively. The new combination of the MEDS score with PCT significantly improved the efficacy for predicting 28-day mortality with an AUC of 0.857 (95% CI 0.809–0.905), and was superior to the SOFA score with an AUC of 0.837 (95% CI 0.779–0.894). Conclusion The MEDS score and PCT, especially when combined, perform well for predicting mortality of ED admitted patients with influenza.

To provide a comprehensive introduction of mediastinal hematoma.Mediastinal hematoma is a rare complication that is usually not considered in the differential diagnosis of chest pain after cardiac catheterization.From January 1, 2006, to December 31, 2013, at Fuwai Hospital, 126,265 patients underwent coronary angiography (CAG); 121,215 of them underwent CAG via the radial artery. Ultimately, 10 patients with mediastinal hematoma due to cardiac catheterization were included. Patients' clinical characteristics, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis were retrospectively analyzed.The incidences of mediastinal hematoma in cardiac catheterization and transradial cardiac catheterization were 0.79‱ and 0.74‱, respectively. A super slide hydrophilic guidewire was used in all 10 patients with mediastinal hematoma. These patients felt chest pain and dyspnea during/after the procedure, and computed tomography (CT) was used to diagnose mediastinal hematoma. Among them, two patients had a neck hematoma. The post-procedural hemoglobin level decreased substantially in all patients. Antiplatelet therapy was discontinued for 8-20 days in three patients without stents implanted, and then only oral aspirin was prescribed. Aspirin was transiently discontinued for 2 days in one patient undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention. The others continued taking dual antiplatelet drugs. Two patients received blood transfusion. There was no case of stent thrombosis, and surgery was not indicated for any patient. No complication was observed after discharge during the 9.0 ± 2.5-year follow-up.CT should be performed as early as possible in patients with suspected mediastinal hematoma. The prognosis of mediastinal hematoma is usually good with early diagnosis and suitable therapy.

BackgroundAllergic rhinitis (AR) is characterized by IgE-mediated mucosa response after exposure to allergens. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are nano-size vesicles containing biological cargos for intercellular communications. However, the role of plasma EVs in pathogenesis of AR remains largely unknown.MethodsPlasma EVs from patients with AR were isolated, quantified, and characterized. The expression of Der p 1 and antigen-presenting molecules on EVs was determined by Western blot, flow cytometry, or ELISA. PKH26- and CFSE (carboxyfluorescein succinimidyl ester)-stained AR-EVs were used to determine the uptake of EVs by CD4+T cells and their effects on CD4+T cell proliferation, respectively.ResultsPlasma EVs in healthy control (HC) and AR patients were similar in the concentration of particles, expression for specific EV markers, and both had structural lipid bilayer. However, the levels of Der p 1 on plasma EVs from both mild and moderate-severe AR patients were significantly higher than that on HC. The levels of antigen-presenting molecules on plasma EVs were similar from three subjects. Moreover, levels of Der p 1 on EVs in plasma, but not nasal secretion, were significantly associated with the symptom score of AR patients and level of plasma IL-13. Additionally, plasma EVs from patients with AR promoted the development of Th2 cells, while no effect was found on CD4+ T-cell proliferation.ConclusionsPlasma EVs derived from patients with AR exhibited antigen-presenting characteristics and promoted differentiation of Th2 cells, thus providing novel understanding of the pathogenesis of AR.

Oxytropiols A-J, ten undescribed guaiane-type sesquiterpenoids, and the mycotoxin swainsonine (SW) were isolated from the locoweed endophytic fungus Alternaria oxytropis. The chemical structures of these sesquiterpenoids were elucidated on the basis of HR-ESI-MS and NMR data including 1H, 13C, HSQC, 1H-1H COSY, HMBC, and NOESY spectra, and the absolute configurations of these compounds were determined using a modified Mosher's method and X-ray diffraction spectroscopy. A possible biosynthetic pathway of these guaiane-type sesquiterpenoids is discussed, and proposed that post-modification oxidative enzymes might form these highly polyhydroxylated structures. Compound 1 displayed biological effects on the root growth of Arabidopsis thaliana, and SW displayed cytotoxicity against A549 and HeLa cancer cell lines.

Background: It is currently unclear if fibrinogen is a risk factor for adverse events in patients receiving percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) or merely serves as a marker of pre-existing comorbidities and other causal factors. We therefore investigated the association between fibrinogen levels and 2-year all-cause mortality, and compared the additional predictive value of adding fibrinogen to a basic model including traditional risk factors in patients receiving contemporary PCI. Objective: To evaluate the effect of transcutaneous electrical acupuncture point stimulation (TEAS) on sperm parameters and the underlying molecular mechanisms. Methods: A total of 121 patients diagnosed with oligozoospermia, asthenozoospermia or oligoasthenozoospermia were randomised into four groups (three treatment groups, one control): the TEAS groups were treated with 2 Hz (n=31), 100 Hz (n=31), or mock stimulation (n=29) at acupuncture points BL23, ST36, CV1 and CV4 for 2 months. The control group (n=30) was provided with lifestyle advice only. Results The changes in total sperm count and motility in the 2 Hz TEAS group were significantly greater than those in the mock group and the control group. The change in neutral α-glucosidase (NAG) and zinc levels in the 2 Hz group were significantly greater than those in the mock group and control group, and the changes in fructose levels of the 2 Hz group were significantly greater than those in the control group. Significant increases in calcium and integrin-binding protein 1 (CIB1) and reduction of cyclin-dependent kinase 1 b (CDK1) were also found after 2 Hz TEAS treatment. Conclusions The present findings suggest that 2 Hz TEAS can improve sperm count and motility in patients with abnormal semen parameters, and is associated with increases in seminal plasma zinc, NAG and fructose. The upregulation of CIB1 and downregulation of CDK1 by TEAS may be associated with its positive effects on sperm motility and count. Trial registration: http://www.chictr.org ; registration no. Influenza is frequently complicated by bacterial co-infection, causing additional hospitalization and mortality. We determined the incidence, risk factors and outcomes of patients with influenza-associated community-acquired bacterial co-infection.This was a retrospective, observational study. Influenza was diagnosed using the polymerase chain reaction. Co-infection had to be confirmed using standard bacteriological tests. The primary endpoint was presence of community-acquired co-infection, and the secondary endpoint was in-hospital mortality.During the 8 influenza seasons from 2010 to 2018, of the 209 influenza-associated pneumonia admitted patients, 41 (19.6%) were identified with community-acquired bacterial co-infections and Staphylococcus aureus was the predominant strain. Compared with patients without co-infection, patients with co-infection had similar demographic characteristics and co-morbidities, obtained a higher APACHE II score and a higher SOFA score, and had higher ratio of sepsis shock, invasive mechanical ventilation, and ICU requirement. In-hospital mortality independently associated with bacterial co-infection (adjusted hazard ratio (aHR) 2.619; 95%CI 1.252-5.480; p = 0.011); in subgroup S. aureus (aHR 6.267; 95%CI 2.679-14.662; p 0.001) and other pathogens (aHR 2.964; 95%CI 1.160-7.577; p = 0.023); and in subgroup positive findings in bloodstream (aHR 7.420; 95%CI 2.712-20.302; p 0.001) and positive findings in other site (aHR 3.427; 95%CI 1.514-7.757; p = 0.003).Community-acquired bacterial co-infection was frequent in influenza-associated pneumonia, without risk factor identified yet. Bacterial co-infection was likely to predict severity, and was an independent risk factor for in-hospital mortality. Co-infection of Staphylococcus aureus with influenza was identified as a lethal synergism, and should be targeted when developing clinical antibiotic strategies.

Summary We previously identified an immunomodulatory role of human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in asthmatic inflammation. Mitochondrial transfer from bone marrow MSCs to epithelial cells can result in the attenuation of acute lung injury in mice. However, the effects of mitochondrial transfer from iPSC-MSCs to epithelial cells in asthma and the mechanisms underlying these effects are unclear. We found that iPSC-MSC transplantation significantly reduced T helper 2 cytokines, attenuated the mitochondrial dysfunction of epithelial cells, and alleviated asthma inflammation in mice. Tunneling nanotubes (TNTs) were formed between iPSC-MSCs and epithelial cells, and mitochondrial transfer from iPSC-MSCs to epithelial cells via TNTs was observed both in vitro and in mice. Overexpression or silencing of connexin 43 (CX43) in iPSC-MSCs demonstrated that CX43 plays a critical role in the regulation of TNT formation by mediating mitochondrial transfer between iPSC-MSCs and epithelial cells. To investigate the degree of psychological distress of patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma after operation and its influencing factors, and the impact of radiotherapy on their quality of life.Univariate analysis and regression analysis were used to evaluate the relationship between psychological distress and socio-economic and therapeutic factors. The quality of life of the subjects before and after radiotherapy was evaluated by paired t-test using the Chinese version of European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire Core 30/ Head and Neck 35. SPSS 22.0 software package was used to deal with the data.Age, AJCC stage and median incision of lower lip were the main factors affecting psychological distress. In addition, there were significant differences in scores of most functional areas and specific items before and after radiotherapy.Clinicians should select individualized treatment programs and procedures for patients of different ages and stages, and screen high-risk groups for psychological distress and provide additional psychological and social support. In addition, radiotherapy can improve or aggravate some special symptoms of patients. Clinicians should take targeted preventive measures.

Objective: Olfactory deficits have been reported in bipolar disorder, but this finding is controversial. This study investigated whether olfactory deficit can serve as a specific marker for bipolar disorder by comparing olfactory function in different mood episodes of bipolar disorder. We also compared olfactory function in bipolar disorder and other mental disorders – namely, major depressive disorder and schizophrenia. Methods: The study consisted of two experiments. Experiment 1 enrolled 175 bipolar disorder patients (70 depressed subgroup, 70 manic subgroup and 35 euthymic subgroup) and 47 controls. Experiment 2 enrolled the participants from Experiment 1, along with 85 major depressive disorder and 90 schizophrenia patients. The Sniffin’ Sticks test was used to evaluate odour identification ability and odour threshold (as a measure of odour sensitivity). The Hamilton Depression Rating Scale and Young Mania Rating Scale were used to assess depressive symptoms in all subjects and manic symptoms in bipolar disorder patients, respectively. We also used the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale to assess clinical symptoms in schizophrenia patients. Results: All three bipolar disorder patient subgroups (depressed, manic and euthymic subgroup) showed reduced odour identification ability compared to controls; however, only patients in the acute phase of a mood episode (depressed, and manic subgroup) showed impaired odour sensitivity. Clinical symptoms were negatively correlated with odour sensitivity but not odour identification ability. Bipolar disorder and major depressive disorder patients showed less odour identification and sensitivity impairment than schizophrenia patients. Conclusion: Odour sensitivity is a potential dopaminergic marker for distinguishing between bipolar disorder patients in acute phase vs remission, while odour identification is a trait but a nonspecific marker of bipolar disorder.

Many middle-aged and older adults have more than one chronic health condition. It is therefore important to explore the effectiveness of interventions for multiple chronic conditions. Tai Chi is widely used in China and other countries, and many studies have examined the effect of Tai Chi on anxiety and depression. However, there are no systematic reviews of the effect of Tai Chi on anxiety and depression in various chronic conditions. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the effects of Tai Chi on anxiety and depression symptoms in four chronic conditions: cancer, stroke, heart failure (HF), and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).We searched Chinese and English databases (Cochrane Library, PubMed, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), China Science and Technology Journal Database (VIP), Wanfang Database, and Sinomed) from inception to October 2020. Review Manager version 5.2 and Stata version 12.0 were used to perform a systematic review. The quality of the included studies was evaluated using the Cochrane risk of bias tool. The study was registered with the PROSPERO database (number CRD42020209594).Of the 596 studies identified, we included 25 randomized controlled trials involving 1819 participants. Combined analysis of the four diseases showed statistically significant differences between the Tai Chi and control groups for anxiety symptoms (SMD -0.99, 95%CI: -1.5, -0.47; P 0.01) and depressive symptoms (SMD 0.70, 95%CI: -1.01, -0.39; P 0.01). Subgroup analyses showed statistically significant differences between the Tai Chi and control groups for depressive symptoms in stroke (SMD -0.43, 95%CI: -0.67, -0.18; P 0.01) and HF (SMD -0.57, 95%CI: -0.8, -0.33; P 0.01). However, no statistically significant differences were found for depressive symptoms in COPD or cancer. There were statistically significant differences between the Tai Chi and control groups for anxiety symptoms in stroke (SMD -0.60, 95%CI: -0.88, -0.32; P 0.01) and cancer (SMD -0.69, 95%CI: -1.22, -0.17; P 0.01), but not in COPD or HF. Subgroup, sensitivity, meta regression, and publication bias analyses showed high heterogeneity correlated with a single study and study quality. Sensitivity analysis showed that most meta-analysis results had good stability, but those for anxiety symptoms in COPD were unstable; therefore, careful interpretation is required.Tai Chi has a positive effect on anxiety and depression, especially for patients with cancer, stroke, and HF. However, given the weak evidence, this approach is not a substitute for psychiatric treatment.

There is currently no drug or therapy that can cure the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), which is highly contagious and can be life-threatening in severe cases. Therefore, seeking potential effective therapies is an urgent task. An older female at the Leishenshan Hospital in Wuhan, China, with a severe case of COVID-19 with significant shortness of breath and decrease in peripheral oxygen saturation (SpO2), was treated using manual acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine granule formula Fuzheng Rescue Lung with Xuebijing Injection in addition to standard care. The patient's breath rate, SpO2, heart rate, ratio of neutrophil/lymphocyte (NLR), ratio of monocyte/lymphocyte (MLR), C-reactive protein (CRP), and chest computed tomography were monitored. Acupuncture significantly improved the patient's breathing function, increased SpO2, and decreased her heart rate. Chinese herbal medicine might make the effect of acupuncture more stable; the use of herbal medicine also seemed to accelerate the absorption of lung infection lesions when its dosage was increased. The combination of acupuncture and herbs decreased NLR from 14.14 to 5.83, MLR from 1.15 to 0.33 and CRP from 15.25 to 6.01 mg/L. These results indicate that acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, as adjuvants to standard care, might achieve better results in treating severe cases of COVID-19.

Supracondylar humerus fractures are the most frequent fractures of the paediatric elbow. The present study introduced a modified surgical procedure for treatment of supracondylar humerus fractures in children.From February 2015 to August 2019, 73 patients with Gartland's type II and III supracondylar fractures were treated with this modified method. Totally, 68 of all patients were followed up for 3-12 months (mean 8.25 months). The evaluation results included fracture nonunion, ulnar nerve injury, pin track infection, carrying angle and elbow joint Flynn score.The results showed that bone union was observed in all children, one case had an iatrogenic ulnar nerve injury, and the symptoms were completely relieved in 4 months after removing of the medial-side pin. All children had no cubitus varus deformity and no pin track infection, and the rate of satisfactory results according to Flynn's criteria score was 100%.The modified closed reduction and Kirschner wires internal fixation could effectively reduce the rate of open reduction, the risk of iatrogenic ulnar nerve injury, and the incidence of cubitus varus deformity in treatment of supracondylar humerus fractures in children.

Allergic airway inflammation is a major public health disease that affects up to 300 million people in the world. However, its management remains largely unsatisfactory. The dysfunction of pulmonary macrophages contributes greatly to the development of allergic airway inflammation. It has been reported that small extracellular vesicles derived from mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC-sEV) were able to display extensive therapeutic effects in some immune diseases. This study aimed to investigate the effects of MSC-sEV on allergic airway inflammation, and the role of macrophages involved in it. We successfully isolated MSC-sEV by using anion exchange chromatography, which were morphologically intact and positive for the specific EV markers. MSC-sEV significantly reduced infiltration of inflammatory cells and number of epithelial goblet cells in lung tissues of mice with allergic airway inflammation. Levels of inflammatory cells and cytokines in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid were also significantly decreased. Importantly, levels of monocytes-derived alveolar macrophages and M2 macrophages were significantly reduced by MSC-sEV. MSC-sEV were excreted through spleen and liver at 24 h post-administration in mice, and were able to be taken in by macrophages both in vivo and in vitro. In addition, proteomics analysis of MSC-sEV revealed that the indicated three types of MSC-sEV contained different quantities of proteins and shared 312 common proteins, which may be involved in the therapeutic effects of MSC-sEV. In total, our study demonstrated that MSC-sEV isolated by anion exchange chromatography were able to ameliorate Th2-dominant allergic airway inflammation through immunoregulation on pulmonary macrophages, suggesting that MSC-sEV were promising alternative therapy for allergic airway inflammation in the future.

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounts for about 85% of all lung cancer cases. The pathogenesis of NSCLC involves complex gene networks that include different types of non-coding RNAs, such as long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs). The role of lncRNAs in NSCLC is gaining an increasing interest as their function is being explored in various human cancers. Recently, a new oncogenic lncRNA, LINC00152 (cytoskeleton regulator RNA (CYTOR)), has been identified in different tumor types. In NSCLC, the high expression of LINC00152 in tumor tissue and peripheral blood samples has been shown to be associated with worse prognoses of NSCLC patients. Overexpression of LINC00152 has been confirmed to promote the proliferation, invasion, and migration of NSCLC cells in vitro, as well as increase tumor growth in vivo. This review discusses the role of LINC00152 in NSCLC.

Aim: To determine the efficacy and safety of intracoronary infusion of autologous bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSCINJ) in combination with intensive atorvastatin (ATV) treatment for patients with anterior ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction-elevation myocardial infarction. Patients & methods: The trial enrolls a total of 100 patients with anterior ST-elevation myocardial infarction. The subjects are randomly assigned (1:1:1:1) to receive routine ATV (20 mg/d) with placebo or MSCsINJ and intensive ATV (80 mg/d) with placebo or MSCsINJ. The primary end point is the absolute change of left ventricular ejection fraction within 12 months. The secondary end points include parameters in cardiac function, remodeling and regeneration, quality of life, biomarkers and clinical outcomes. Results & conclusion: The trial will implicate the essential of cardiac micro-environment improvement (‘fertilizing’) for cell-based therapy. Clinical Trial Registration: NCT03047772.

Salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma (SACC) is often accompanied with poor prognosis due to local recurrence, distant metastasis, and perineural invasion. The mechanism involved in SACC metastasis is not yet fully understood. In this study, we profiled the expression of messenger RNA (mRNA) and microRNA (miRNA) in a SACC cell line, ACC-2, and a highly metastatic SACC cell line, ACC-M, using high-throughput sequencing. We discovered that: (1) differentially expressed (DE) mRNAs and DE miRNAs are potentially involved in SACC metastasis; (2) multiple regulatory interactions between DE miRNAs and DE mRNAs exist; and (3) miR-338–5p/3p target LAMC2 to impair motility and invasion of ACC-M and MDA-MB-231 cells. In conclusion, our study integrated the regulatory effects of miRNAs and mRNAs on SACC metastasis and provided a potential application for miRNAs in future therapeutic intervention.

Background Human induced pluripotent stem cells-derived mesenchymal stem cells (iPSC-MSCs) have been shown to be effective in Type 2 helper T cells (Th2)-dominant eosinophilic allergic airway inflammation. However, the role of iPSC-MSCs in Type 17 helper T cells (Th17)-dominant neutrophilic airway inflammation remains poorly studied. Therefore, this study was to explore the effects of iPSC-MSCs on an experimental mouse model of steroid-resistant neutrophilic airway inflammation and further determine the underlying mechanisms. Methods A mouse model of neutrophilic airway inflammation was established using ovalbumin (OVA) and lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Human iPSC-MSCs were systemically administered, and the lungs or bronchoalveolar lavage fluids (BALF) were collected at 4 h and 48 h post-challenge. The pathology and inflammatory cell infiltration, the T helper cells, T helper cells-associated cytokines, nuclear transcription factors and possible signaling pathways were evaluated. Human CD4+ T cells were polarized to T helper cells and the effects of iPSC-MSCs on the differentiation of T helper cells were determined. Results We successfully induced the mouse model of Th17 dominant neutrophilic airway inflammation. Human iPSC-MSCs but not dexamethasone significantly prevented the neutrophilic airway inflammation and decreased the levels of Th17 cells, IL-17A and p-STAT3. The mRNA levels of Gata3 and RORγt were also decreased with the treatment of iPSC-MSCs. We further confirmed the suppressive effects of iPSC-MSCs on the differentiation of human T helper cells. Conclusions iPSC-MSCs showed therapeutic potentials in neutrophilic airway inflammation through the regulation on Th17 cells, suggesting that the iPSC-MSCs could be applied in the therapy for the asthma patients with steroid-resistant neutrophilic airway inflammation. With the development of coronary angiography for the diagnosis of coronary artery disease, its clinical significance in detecting coronary artery anomalies and evaluating the seriousness is attracting more attention. In the study we aimed to assess the prevalence of anomalous origin of coronary arteries in a Chinese population who underwent coronary angiography for coronary artery disease, and explore any patterns in the common variants and typical anomalies, especially the potentially serious ones. Patients who underwent coronary angiography from January 2013 to December 2016 in Fuwai Hospital were included. Baseline characteristics and angiographic data were collected, the incidence of anomalous origin of coronary arteries was calculated, and the typical patterns were analyzed. Comparisons between the present results and those of existing reports were also conducted. A total of 110,158 patients were included in the study, among which 0.76% (835 cases) had anomalous origin of coronary arteries. Among the anomalies, the incidences of anomalous origin of the right coronary artery (RCA), the left coronary artery (LCA), both the RCA and LCA, single coronary artery (SCA) and dextrocardia were 76.76% (641 cases), 14.61% (122 cases), 1.80% (15 cases), 4.67% (39 cases) and 2.16% (18 cases), respectively. Moreover, 47.54% (397 cases) of the anomalies were shown to be potentially serious, and an RCA arising from the left sinus of Valsalva (LSV) was the most common subtype (39.28%, 328 cases). Although anomalous origin of coronary arteries is not quite common, more clinical attention should be paid to this condition due to the potential risk of serious sequelae.

Endophytic fungi from desert, arid, and grassland areas are an ecologically important but unique group with poor chemical investigation. During our ongoing study to mine bioactive secondary metabolites from unique fungal environments, a new shunt product spiciferone F (1) including two new analogs spiciferones G (2) and H (3) together with four known ones spiciferone A (4), spiciferol A (5), 6, and 7 were isolated from endophytic fungus Phoma betae inhabiting in plant Kalidium foliatum (Pall.) Moq from Ningxia Province of West China. The planar, relative, and absolute configurations of these new compounds were elucidated by nuclear magnetic resonance, high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry, and electronic circular dichroism experiments. According to the shunt products, intermediates and analogs isolated from this endophytic fungus, the possible biosynthetic pathway of spiciferones was reconstructed. Compounds 1-7 were evaluated cytotoxic activities against three cancer cell lines HCT 116, HeLa, and MCF7, and only did 1 display strong biological effect against MCF7 with a half-maximal inhibitory concentration value at 7.73 ± 0.11 μM compared with the cis-platinum (14.32 ± 1.01 μM).

Inflammatory linear verrucous epidermal nevus and linear psoriasis are sometimes hard to differentiate clinically and pathologically. Although immunohistochemical expression of keratin 10 (K10), K16, Ki-67, and involucrin may be useful for differentiating both entities, these results have been reported in only a few cases. We collected data from 8 patients with inflammatory linear verrucous epidermal nevus, 11 with psoriasis vulgaris, and 8 healthy controls and evaluated immunohistochemical expression of Ki-67, K16, involucrin, and filaggrin among them. Ki-67 and K16 overexpression was similar in inflammatory linear verrucous epidermal nevus and psoriasis vulgaris compared with normal skin. Although staining for involucrin showed discontinuous expression in parakeratotic regions in 4 inflammatory linear verrucous epidermal nevus cases, it was continuous in the other 4 cases and in all psoriasis vulgaris cases. Filaggrin expression was present in hyperkeratotic regions but scarce in parakeratotic areas in both inflammatory linear verrucous epidermal nevus and psoriasis vulgaris. The immunostaining pattern of Ki-67, K16, involucrin, and filaggrin may be insufficient to discriminate inflammatory linear verrucous epidermal nevus from psoriasis vulgaris.

Background: Preoperative anatomical scoring system is conducive to comparison between treatment options and evaluation of postoperative outcomes in patients with small renal tumors. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical application efficacy of the R.E.N.A.L. nephrometry score (RNS) in predicting perioperative outcomes in patients with renal tumor who underwent laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (LPN). Methods: The clinical data of 139 patients with renal tumors who underwent LPN between 2009 and 2015 were collected and analyzed. Patients were divided into three groups according to their RNS (low, moderate, and high). Clinical characteristics including perioperative variables, complications, and RNS were compared to evaluate the differences between the three groups. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the risk factors of postoperative complications. Results: According to the RNS, there were 74, 50, and 15 patients in the low, moderate, and high RNS groups, respectively. There were significant differences in estimated blood loss (EBL; χ2 = 7.285, P = 0.026), warm ischemia time (WIT; χ2 = 13.718, P = 0.001), operation time (OT; χ2 = 6.882, P = 0.032), perioperative creatinine clearance change (PCCC; χ2 = 6.206, P = 0.045), and number of patients with complications (NPC; P = 0.002) among the three groups. The values for EBL, WIT, OT, PCCC, and NPC for patients in the high RNS group were higher than those for patients in the low RNS group. After adjustment for OT, WIT, and EBL, RNS was statistically significantly associated with the risk of postoperative complications in a multivariable logistic regression model (odds ratio = 1.541, 95% confidence interval: 1.059–2.242, P = 0.024). Conclusions: The RNS is a valuable tool for evaluating the complexity of renal tumor anatomy. It can aid surgeons in preoperative decision-making concerning management therapy. Future multicenter, large sample size studies are warranted for evaluating its predicting performance of perioperative outcomes. Key words: Laparoscopic Partial Nephrectomy; R.E.N.A.L. Trichoderpyrone (1), a unique polyketide with a cyclopentenone-pyrone hybrid skeleton, was isolated from the plant endophytic fungus Trichoderma gamsii. The structure of 1 was determined by detailed analysis of NMR data together with comparison of chemical shift values of similar fragments. The relative and absolute configurations were established by NOESY correlations and CD experiment. Trichoderpyrone (1) displayed weak cytotoxic activities against A549, HepG2, and HeLa cancer cell lines. 1 might originate from a hybrid biosynthetic pathway through two nonreduced (NR) polyketide megasynthetases.

Background: Shock is a life-threatening condition in emergency departments (EDs) and is associated with a high mortality; however, its clinical characteristics and current interventions in China are seldom reported. This study investigated the clinical characteristics and current interventions of shock patients in Chinese EDs. Methods: This multicenter prospective cohort study was conducted in the EDs of 33 academic hospitals in 16 Chinese provinces. Adult shock patients were enrolled from December 2013 to April 2014. Age, sex, comorbidities, shock subtype, and vital signs were recorded on ED arrival; details of subsequent interventions and treatments were added. We compared those data between survivors and nonsurvivors. All patients were followed up for 3 days. The primary outcome was 3-day mortality. Binary logistic regression analysis identified the independent predictors of that mortality. Results: We enrolled 1095 shock patients. The 3-day mortality was 27.5%, 36.3%, and 29.0%, respectively, in the whole cohort and for cardiogenic and septic shock. Within the first 24 h, 1039 patients (94.9%) were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. Use of bicarbonate, epinephrine, and dopamine is an independent predictor for mortality. Hemorrhage and trauma (39.1%), along with sepsis (40.4%) were the most commonly observed causes of shock in the ED. In nondiabetic patients with cardiogenic shock, 3-day mortality was 69.2% for patients needing glucose control — much higher than in those not needing glucose control (30.0%, P = 0.01). Hydroxyethyl starch (HES) was applied in 29.6% of septic shock patients, and the mortality of septic patients who received HES was much higher than those who did not (38.2% vs. 25.1%, P = 0.006). Conclusions: In China, short-term mortality of shock patients in EDs is still high, especially among those with cardiogenic and septic shock. To analyze factors associated with unplanned revascularization (UR) risk in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).A total of 10,640 cases with CAD who underwent PCI were analyzed. Multivariate COX regressions and competing risk regressions were applied.The patients who underwent UR following PCI in 30 days, 1, and 2 years accounted for 0.3%, 6.5%, and 8.7%, respectively. To explore the relationship between the status quo and influencial factors of oral cancer patients and their quality of life.Using the Distress Themometer (DT) and the University of Washington Quality of Life Questionnaire (UW-QOL), 250 patients admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from October 2016 to September 2017 with oral cancer were investigated. Chi-square test, t test, logistic regression analysis and Spearman correlation analysis were used to analyze the data with SPSS20.0 software package.A total of 250 questionnaires were issued, 239 valid questionnaires were available for analysis. In 239 oral cancer patients, 139 (58.2%) had DT score ≥4. The average total score of UWQOL scale was 53.3±17.1, score4 was noted in 100 patients (41.8%); the average UWQOL scale was 52.8±17.4. Univariate analysis showed that psychological distress was related to age, educational level, income level, pathological stage, jaw resection and recurrence (χOral cancer patients have a higher incidence of psychological distress. Younger patients,and those with maxillectomy and recurrence have more serious symptoms of distress.

Heart failure is a serious condition with high prevalence and mortality. The application of the novel big data analysis in heart failure can improve the management of this condition,especially in terms of diagnosis,classification,and prognostic prediction. This articles reviews relevant literature and validates the role of big data analysis for heart failure patients.

Inflammation is associated with retinal diseases. Our recent data demonstrate that immunoproteasome catalytic subunit β2i contributes to angiotensin II (Ang II)-induced retinopathy in mice. Here, we investigated the role of another catalytic subunit β5i in regulating retinopathy and its underlying mechanisms. We induced a murine model of retinopathy by infusing Ang II (3,000 ng/kg/min) for 3 weeks into wild-type (WT) mice, β5i-knockout (KO) mice, or WT mice injected with either adenovirus-expressing β5i (Ad-β5i) or angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1R)-associated protein (Ad-ATRAP), which inhibits AT1R. The β5i expression and chymotrypsin-like activity were most significantly elevated in Ang II-infused retinas and serum from patients with hypertensive retinopathy. Moreover, Ang II infusion-induced retinopathy was markedly attenuated in β5i-KO mice but aggravated in Ad-β5i-injected mice. Accordingly, β5i KO markedly restored Ang II-induced downregulation of ATRAP and activation of AT1R downstream mediators, which was further enhanced in Ad-β5i-injected mice. Interestingly, overexpression of ATRAP significantly abrogated Ang II-induced retinopathy in Ad-β5i-injected mice. This study found that β5i promoted Ang II-induced retinopathy by promoting ATRAP degradation and activation of AT1R-mediated signals.

Key Points Question Is prophylactic aprepitant therapy combined with palonosetron and dexamethasone effective in preventing nausea and vomiting in women receiving moderately emetogenic chemotherapy? Findings In this randomized phase 3 clinical trial that included 248 women younger than 50 years with no or little alcohol use, the complete response rate in the overall phase for chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting was 87% in the aprepitant group vs 67% in the control group. The overall complete response rate was significantly higher in the aprepitant group vs the control group. Meaning Adding aprepitant to palonosetron and dexamethasone was effective in reducing nausea and vomiting for women who received moderately emetogenic chemotherapy., Importance The prevention of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting has an important role in the overall management of cancer treatment. Objective To evaluate whether adding aprepitant to palonosetron and dexamethasone can further prevent the incidence and severity of nausea and vomiting caused by FOLFIRI (fluorouracil, leucovorin, and irinotecan) or FOLFOX (fluorouracil, leucovorin, and oxaliplatin) chemotherapy regimens among women with gastrointestinal cancer at higher risk. Design, Setting, and Participants This phase 3, double-blind, placebo-controlled randomized clinical trial recruited young women (age ≤50 years) who drank little or no alcohol and had gastrointestinal cancer for which they received FOLFOX or FOLFIRI chemotherapy. A total of 248 women were enrolled and assigned in the ratio 1:1 to intervention and control groups from August 4, 2015, to March 31, 2020. Intention-to-treat analysis was used to evaluate patient baseline characteristics and efficacy. The analysis was conducted on October 30, 2020. Interventions Patients were randomly assigned to the aprepitant group (aprepitant, 125 mg, orally 60 minutes before initiation of chemotherapy on day 1 and 80 mg orally each morning of days 2 and 3; palonosetron, 0.25 mg, intravenously; and dexamethasone, 6 mg, orally 30 minutes before chemotherapy initiation on day 1) or the placebo group (placebo, 125 mg, orally 60 minutes before initiation of chemotherapy on day 1 and 80 mg orally on each morning of days 2 and 3; palonosetron, 0.25 mg, intravenously; and dexamethasone, 12 mg, orally 30 minutes before chemotherapy initiation on day 1). Main Outcomes and Measures The primary end point was the complete response (CR) rate, defined as the proportion of patients without emesis episodes or rescue medication use during the overall phase of the first cycle. Other efficacy indicators, such as no vomiting and no nausea, were measured as the secondary and exploratory end points. Results A total of 248 women from 4 clinical centers in China entered this study, and 243 patients (aprepitant regimen, 125 patients [51.4%]; placebo regimen, 118 patients [48.5%]) were evaluable for efficacy and safety; mean (SD) age of the total population was 40.1 (7.3) years. The CR rate was significantly higher in the aprepitant group vs the control group overall (107 [87.0%] vs 80 [66.7%]; P, This randomized clinical trial examines the use of aprepitant combined with palonosetron and dexamethasone for prophylactic treatment in women with chemotherapy-associated nausea and vomiting.

Background: Antegrade selective cerebral perfusion (ASCP) is regarded to perform cerebral protection during the thoracic aorta surgery as an adjunctive technique to deep hypothermic circulatory arrest (DHCA). However, brain metabolism profile after ASCP has not been systematically investigated by metabolomics technology. Methods: To clarify the metabolomics profiling of ASCP, 12 New Zealand white rabbits were randomly assigned into 60 min DHCA with (DHCA+ASCP [DA] group, n = 6) and without ( DHCA [D] group, n = 6) ASCP according to the random number table. ASCP was conducted by cannulation on the right subclavian artery and cross-clamping of the innominate artery. Rabbits were sacrificed 60 min after weaning off cardiopulmonary bypass. The metabolic features of the cerebral cortex were analyzed by a nontargeted metabolic profiling strategy based on gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Variable importance projection values exceeding 1.0 were selected as potentially changed metabolites, and then Student's t -test was applied to test for statistical significance between the two groups. Results: Metabolic profiling of brain was distinctive significantly between the two groups (Q 2 Y = 0.88 for partial least squares-DA model). In comparing to group D, 62 definable metabolites were varied significantly after ASCP, which were mainly related to amino acid metabolism, carbohydrate metabolism, and lipid metabolism. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analysis revealed that metabolic pathways after DHCA with ASCP were mainly involved in the activated glycolytic pathway, subdued anaerobic metabolism, and oxidative stress. In addition, L-kynurenine ( P = 0.0019), 5-methoxyindole-3-acetic acid ( P = 0.0499), and 5-hydroxyindole-3-acetic acid ( P = 0.0495) in tryptophan metabolism pathways were decreased, and citrulline ( P = 0.0158) in urea cycle was increased in group DA comparing to group D. Conclusions: The present study applied metabolomics analysis to identify the cerebral metabolic profiling in rabbits with ASCP, and the results may shed new lights that cerebral metabolism is better preserved by ASCP compared with DHCA alone.

Background Group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) were reported to serve a critical role in allergic diseases. Myeloid dendritic cells (mDCs) and plasmacytoid DCs (pDCs) play significant roles in allergic immune response. However, effects of DCs on ILC2s in allergic diseases, especially for patients with allergic rhinitis (AR), remain unclear. Objective We sought to address the roles of mDCs and pDCs in regulating ILC2 function in AR. Methods mDCs and pDCs were cocultured with human PBMCs isolated from patients with AR or ILC2s to measure soluble or intracellular TH2 cytokines, transcription factors, signaling pathways in ILC2s, and the following mechanisms were further investigated. The levels of peripheral IL-33+mDCs, pDCs, and ILC2s were studied in patients under an inhaled allergen challenge. Results We confirmed the presence of ILC2s, mDCs, and pDCs in the nasal mucosa of patients with AR. Both allogenic and autologous mDCs were found to activate ILC2s from patients with AR to produce TH2 cytokines, and increase the levels of GATA-3 and signal transducer and activator of transcription signaling pathways, in which IL-33–producing mDCs exerted the major role by binding on ST2 on ILC2s. We further identified high levels of IL-33+mDCs and ILC2s in patients with AR under antigen challenge. Activated pDCs inhibited the cytokine production of ILC2s isolated from patients with AR by secretion of IL-6. Conclusions mDCs promote ILC2 function by the IL-33/ST2 pathway, and activation of pDCs suppresses ILC2 function through IL-6 in patients with AR. Our findings provide new understanding of the interplay between DCs and ILC2s in allergic diseases.

With the developing of catering trade, cooking oil fume has became one of the three major air pollution sources in some cities. In recent years, a lot of research on the cooking oil fume have been done for its high threaten to human health. The cooking oil fume contains a large amount of unsaturated hydrocarbons produced by pyrolysis of edible oil, which are harmful to human health. The characteristics of the composition and content of edible oil fumes produced by pyrolysis of different edible oil are different. For classification and identification of edible oil, two kinds of classification and identification mathematical model are constructed. The spectrum data of different edible oil fume are collected by Fourier transform infrared spectrometer which is independent research and development. At the same time, different classification algorithms of the principal component analysis (PCA) combining probabilistic neural network (PNN) and the error back propagation artificial neural network (BPANN) are constructed respectively. Two kinds of classification algorithms are used to analyze the Fourier transform infrared spectrum data of different cooking fume gas. The mathematical models are trained by the sample data, and the trained mathematical model are used to analyze the unknown spectral data to determine the type of edible oil. The experimental results show that the two algorithms can classify and identify different types of oil fume. In the whole band recognition, the recognition rate is 90.25% and 97% respectively. By analyzed spectral data of flue gas absorption band, spectrums of atmospheric window and the strong absorption feature bands of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) (from 1 300 to 700 cm-1 and from 3 000 to 2 600 cm-1) were extracted. The absorbance data are divided into two parts with separated absorption band, and the two algorithms in 3 000～2 600 cm-1 band have better recognition rate. PCA-PNN algorithm recognition rate is 90.25% and PCA-BPANN algorithm recognition rate is 92.25%. Obviously, two kinds of artificial neural network algorithm combining principle component analysis respectively can effectively identify the types of edible oil fume.

Five new resorcylic acid lactones (RALs) hispidulactones A-E (1, 4, 5, 8, and 9), a new natural product (2), and four known ones (3, 6, 7, and 10) with different ring systems were isolated from the desert plant Chaetosphaeronema hispidulum. [corrected]. The new compounds were characterized by NMR data, CD spectra, and X-ray experiment. The new natural product (2) displayed strongly biological effects on the seedlings growth of Arabidopsis thaliana, Digitaria sanguinalis, and Echinochloa crusgalli with a dose-dependent relationship. The predictive value of N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) in patients with stable coronary artery disease (SCAD) in the drug-eluting stent era is not yet clear. We aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of NT-proBNP in SCAD patients after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).We examined 4,293 consecutive SCAD patients who underwent PCI between January 2013 and December 2013 in Fuwai Hospital, China. The primary endpoint was all-cause death. NT-proBNP levels were measured before PCI using Elisa kits (Biomedica, Austria). The indication for PCI was based on the degree of coronary stenosis and evidence of ischemia.Among 3,187 SCAD patients with NT-proBNP data, after a 2-year follow-up, NT-proBNP levels were predictive for all-cause death in the SCAD population [area under the receiver operating characteristic curve, 0.768; 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.687-0.849; P0.001]. At the optimum cutoff point of 732 pg/mL, the sensitivity and specificity of death was 75.0% and 72.3%, respectively. In a multivariable Cox regression model, the death hazard ratio was 6.43 (95% CI, 2.99-13.82; P0.001) for patients with NT-proBNP levels ⪖ 732 pg/mL, compared with732 pg/mL.NT-proBNP is a strong predictor of 2-year death with SCAD after PCI in the drug-eluting stent era.

Although the infectious diseases tuberculosis (TB) and cryptococcosis both cause formation of single or multiple nodules in immunodeficient hosts, cases of co-infection of these diseases are rarely seen. We report a patient who was co-infected with TB and cryptococcosis. A male patient with no clinical evidence of immunodeficiency presented with a 3-week history of abdominal distension accompanied by oedema of recurring lower extremities. The patient was diagnosed with tuberculous peritonitis and tuberculous pleurisy by an abdominal puncture biopsy. Several months after being treated for TB, the patient was diagnosed with Cryptococcus infection and received antifungal treatment. Computed tomographic and magnetic resonance imaging findings suggested that treatment was effective. This case illustrates the challenges encountered during assessment of neoplasms associated with TB and cryptococcosis. Differential diagnosis requires an abdominal puncture biopsy. Diagnosis of Cryptococcus infection also requires a positive cryptococcal culture and positive India ink staining analysis. Notably, our patient also showed no obvious symptoms of cryptococcosis after receiving anti-TB treatment. Accordingly, in this report, we discuss the possible pathogenic mechanisms that underlie the coincidence of both types of inflammatory lesions. We emphasize the need for a greater awareness of atypical presentations of TB accompanied by Cryptococcus infection.
