The development of Nursing knowledge, the way in which students learn and the use they make of it to resolve situations specific to the Nursing discipline in the academic and clinical environment is essential for the quality of care. Narrative pedagogy arises from lived experiences and focuses on presenting multiple epistemologies (knowledge), exploring ways of knowing and thinking practices. Objective: To know the perceptions of Nursing students about the use of narratives, as a strategy that allows the learning of epistemological and ontological components for reflective practice in Nursing students. Method: Descriptive qualitative study with content analysis based on inductive categorization using the provisions of Bengtsson, 66 students who took the subject Epistemology of Care participated, the information was collected through a questionnaire with open questions. Results: Five categories emerged: 1. Integration of theory and practice, 2. Learning about Nursing, as a discipline oriented towards practice and humanized care, 3. A means of expression and empathetic communication with the patient, 4. Improving thinking skills critical and reflective, 5. Make care visible as an ethical responsibility in clinical practice. Conclusion: The use of narratives as a pedagogical tool contributes to the development of different dimensions in Nursing students such as critical, reflective and creative thinking. NURSING education , *NURSING practice , *NURSING research , *MEDICAL coding , *GROUNDED theory - Abstract
It is a priority to build theories that allow to explain and describe the phenomena of interest to any discipline, however, theorizing supposes an effort for the researcher, due to the complexity of the methods and the constant need for renewal in the research phenomena. The Grounded Theory is a qualitative research method which allows generating theoretical approaches that can be used to strengthen the conceptual basis of professional disciplines such as Nursing. This article describes strategies for collecting information in qualitative research, organizing the data to facilitate the researcher's understanding of the process the participant has experienced, and then, through an example, explains how, using the words of the participant or living codes, the analysis of the data is carried out with the coding proposal of Strauss, A. and Corbin, J, until arriving at the construction of the theory based on the data. Objective: To narrate the systematization of the experience of an educational action with nursing students on the care of people with viral hepatitis. Methods: Systematization of experience, with a participatory approach, which involved a problematizing educational action with 12 nursing students. Data were collected through participant observation in field diaries and meeting minutes, based on meetings and discussions, and by completing a questionnaire administered via a playful platform. Quantitative data were analyzed descriptively and qualitative data were analyzed in an exploratory manner using documentary analysis Results: The active participation of students in the idealization, the use of fun and the organization of the activity into modules were some of the learning enhancers about prevention, transmission, diagnosis and treatment of viral hepatitis. On the other hand, the excess of topics covered in a short period, the remote conduction and the overload with other graduation demands were some limitations of the experience. Conclusion: The use of participatory strategies was a potential instrument in teaching-learning, highlighting the importance of problematizing reality, in an autonomous and emancipatory way, for the transformation of knowledge and practices. It is envisaged that the educational strategy presented can contribute to the professional qualification of nurses with a view to eliminating viral hepatitis by 2030. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Goals: Understand the relationship that is established among professors, students and assistencial nurses, between the theory and practice of cultural care. Methods: Qualitative, hermeneutic, with a critical approach. A sociodemographic questionnaire, discussion groups and episodic interviews were used. Model: 34 participants: 6 teachers, 11 nurses and 17 students. Results: Three subjects were identified: 1. The theory and practice of cultural care in nursery: the learned knowledge. The cultural care is not formalized in the curriculum, some aspects from the cultural care are included in the theory of the courses. 2. Practice and theory of the cultural care in nursery: the lived experience. The rigid protocols and homogenizers from the health institutions were the major obstacle to specify along the practice of cultural care. 3: The relationship of theory and practice in nursery: what is recognized. Professors and nurses formers of human talent recognize their lack of preparation to form the students in cul-tural care. Conclusions: There is a breach between the theory and the practice around cultural care. It is required to include the cultural care in the curriculum and make it congruent with the theory and the practice, allowing the dialog of knowledge and surpassing not only the communication barriers, but attitudinal and institutional, which were found in the study. In the period of the First Republic in Portugal, during the First World War, professional re-education was implemented, based on the teaching experience of Casa Pia in Lisbon, and was particularly important in the recovery of mutilated and maimed soldiers. Objective: To interpret and analyse the nurses' practices in the professional re-education of Portuguese soldiers at the Santa Izabel Institute for the Re-education of War Mutilates at Casa Pia in Lisbon during the First World War. Methodology: Use of the historical method to synthesise the historical narrative. Results: Important references can be found in the Casa Pia of Lisbon Yearbooks to the functions carried out by the nurses, namely "the propaganda that the nurses made to the wounded about the advantages of re-education"; the "massotherapy treatment"; "the massage treatments" and also to the "extremely important role" of the ladies (nurses) in the "small infirmary" headed by Dr V. Pontes where there was a small "massotherapy" service, a "provisional prothesis" workshop and a laboratory for examining aptitudes. Conclusion: This confirms that the nurses played an important role in the "preparatory re-education" services at the Santa Izabel Institute for the Re-education of Mutilated People at Casa Pia in Lisbon, intervening in a distinctive and effective way, earning good recognition. Introduction: The incidence of Burnout Syndrome (BS) among nurses is higher. For this group, nursing residents undergo periodic assessments regarding compliance with the care workload in closed sectors, such as Intensive Care and Emergency Care, that put them at higher risk for the syndrome. Objective: Identify the prevalence and related factors for BS in nursing residents. Material and Methods: Quantitative, analytical, cross-sectional study with 106 nurses enrolled in the Residency program in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, based on the following instruments: Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey Scale and an occupational sociodemographic questionnaire. Non-parametric statistical tests for independent samples were applied and Mann-Whitney test 15 was used for quantitative variables. Results: The results show that variable changes in relationships indicates stage 4 of the BS when compared to the other stages. For the other variables, there were no statistically significant differences. Discussion: Studies reveal that work-family balance is closely related to how job satisfaction is affected and mitigates the negative effects of BS. Conclusions: Consequences on relation patterns are among the most affected symptoms in the lives of nursing residents. This study is expected to contribute to raising awareness of the problem in question and to improve the quality of work life of resident nurses, detecting and preventing their illness. - Abstract
Objective: To understand the meaning of self-care for nursing students at a public university during their university training process. Method: Hermeneutical phenomenological study. Sixteen in-depth interviews were carried out with nursing students from a public university in the city of Medellin, during the years 2021 and 2022. Narrative was used, which allowed a greater approach to people as social individuals and the understanding of the way in which they construct their personal and cultural realities. Results: Four thematic categories emerged: Changes and transformations of the student, meaning of self-care, aspects that have not yet been incorporated, and practices that have been incorporated. Conclusions: The narratives of the participants about what those first years of encounter with university life mean and the process lived throughout it, allow understanding the paths taken from their perspectives and contexts, as well as understanding of the efforts and struggles from its limitations. Transcending this understanding, and from the Foucaultian paradigm, it is also important to hope, as some of them have done, that they learn to know and recognize-themselves, their desires, capacities, strengths, resources and limitations, as well as to learn how to overcome and transform the various moments into a continuous process of introspection and reflection by making self-care an attitude of life and transcending the knowledge they have learned in their university education when they care for others. - Abstract
Background: Education is a process that must be continuously developed throughout professional life. Objective: To reflect on the challenges of lifelong learning in modern nursing. Main topics under analysis: The advancement of nursing practice depends on integrating professional, personal, cultural, and socioeconomic knowledge. The fundamental changes occurring in theoretical and practical knowledge require more complex care actions and services, which demand that nurses learn to adapt continuously to new technologies. Different generations with distinctive characteristics and interests undergo the learning and educational process. Nurses must actively manage their knowledge, skills, and attitudes and harmonize professional demands and challenges with quality of life. Conclusion: The innovative nursing professional combines technical and behavioral skills. The main challenge is the combination of work environment, social context, and educational strategies, which should stimulate learning success, allow safe care delivery to patients and communities, and contribute to universal health. To identify, on the social network Instagram®, the understanding of students and nurses about the use of active methodologies in the teaching-learning process in Nursing. This is a descriptive, sectional study, with a quantitative approach applied through the use of Instagram® stickers to capture information from users about the use of the application as a teaching-learning tool. Research carried out with 34 participants, with a prevalence of females, aged between 18 and 24 years, white race, single marital status, Catholic religion and residents of the State of Rio de Janeiro, who mainly use the cell phone as a means of accessing the social network, in the night period. It was possible to identify the Instagram® social network as a teaching-learning resource through the affirmation of 100% of the participants. The importance of technologies in the health education process is perceived, not only for Nursing, but for all areas in which the contents are updated quickly. Therefore, Instagram® can be used as a teaching-learning strategy. Therefore, the product of this research, elaborated from the undergraduate course completion work, will contribute to teaching through information that nursing students and health professionals seek and consume on social networks. Objective: To analyze the panorama of the offer of integrated secondary education in nursing in Brazil. Methods: Quantitative-qualitative, documentary research. The data were collected from the National Information System for Professional and Technological Education, and a questionnaire using the Google Forms® digital platform for the schools included, analyzed with the aid of Microsoft Excel®. Results: 90 schools were found and validated. The largest number of these schools was in the Northeast region (68), followed by the Southeast, South, Midwest and North regions. Comparing the number of traditional nursing technical courses with courses in the integrated modality, we obtained ratios from 11: 1 to 378: 1, all from the public system. Of the schools that responded to the questionnaire, 60% use the integrated curriculum, about 50% carried out some training with the teachers, as well as showing the integrated modality offered in three different ways that altered the duration of the course and workload. The 32.5% dropout rate in that course drew attention. Conclusion: We found that the integrated modality has low capillarity in Brazil, with its greatest adherence in the Northeast region, and in the public sphere, since it assumes a commitment to integral human development and not only to the labor market. - Abstract
This study aims to reflect on the effects of the active learning strategy in the discipline of Nursing History at a college in Rio de Janeiro for nursing students and teaching, based on the composition between experience, meaning and word proposed by the philosopher Jorge Larrosa. This is a reflection study based on a teaching experience with first-term undergraduate students, between 2018 and 2020. The activity was developed in three moments: active search for historical and contemporary professional references, analysis of these findings and collective construction of a book. In this way, we realized that, from the active methodologies, there was a protagonism of the undergraduates in the teaching and learning process about the history of nursing, knowledge that is fundamental for the practice of the profession. It is concluded, therefore, that the use of innovative and active strategies in the nursing discipline can generate positive repercussions for both students and teachers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The training of students in higher education and specifically in the nursing degree has been the object of study by the professors. It is part of nursing practice to respect the student's decision- making process and provide the right to information, promoting the acquisition of skills that allow them to make responsible choices for their future. The objective of this investigation was to know the perspective of nursing students, regarding their involvement in pedagogical training on musculoskeletal symptoms. A qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive study was carried out using the focus group method with six nursing students. Qualitative analysis was performed according to Bardin and the mental map was performed using FreeMind® software. Students revealed satisfaction with the real interest in their learning with reflection on the acquisition of skills in terms of knowledge about musculoskeletal symptoms and the need for critical thinking in the nursing profession. Introduction: The continuity of care is understood as the adaptation of caregivers and their support network to the new health-disease situation. Objective: To understand nurses' perception of the applicability of the continuity of care process. Materials and Methods: Study with a qualitative and phenomenological approach. The subjects of the study were nurse coordinators. Semi-structured interviews were conducted. Atlas.ti was used for data analysis. Results: The participants partially applied continuity of care due to a lack of clarity of the concept, disconnection between primary health care and specialized care, and administrative limitations. The continuity of care is practiced in a disorganized and empirical manner. Discussion: There is a clear need for implementing communication strategies between the different levels of care to strengthen teamwork and promote patient self-care. According to the participants, the information is not shared among the different levels of care, hindering the continuity of patient care. Conclusions: The application of the continuity of care process is fragmented and disorganized. Based on evidence from other countries, the participants recognized that if continuity of care were applied in Colombia, it would improve the quality of services and the quality of life of patients.
