The simultaneous maturation of multiple digital and telecommunications technologies in 2020 has created an unprecedented opportunity for ophthalmology to adapt to new models of care using tele-health supported by digital innovations. These digital innovations include artificial intelligence (AI), 5th generation (5G) telecommunication networks and the Internet of Things (IoT), creating an inter-dependent ecosystem offering opportunities to develop new models of eye care addressing the challenges of COVID-19 and beyond. Ophthalmology has thrived in some of these areas partly due to its many image-based investigations. Tele-health and AI provide synchronous solutions to challenges facing ophthalmologists and healthcare providers worldwide. This article reviews how countries across the world have utilised these digital innovations to tackle diabetic retinopathy, retinopathy of prematurity, age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, refractive error correction, cataract and other anterior segment disorders. The review summarises the digital strategies that countries are developing and discusses technologies that may increasingly enter the clinical workflow and processes of ophthalmologists. Furthermore as countries around the world have initiated a series of escalating containment and mitigation measures during the COVID-19 pandemic, the delivery of eye care services globally has been significantly impacted. As ophthalmic services adapt and form a "new normal", the rapid adoption of some of telehealth and digital innovation during the pandemic is also discussed. This study presents a bibliometric analysis of the relationship between digital innovation and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a specific focus on the concept of green growth. Green growth refers to fostering economic growth while ensuring environmental sustainability, making it a critical framework for achieving the SDGs. By systematically reviewing a decade's worth of academic literature, we quantify the contributions of digital technologies to sustainable development initiatives. Utilizing data from prominent scholarly databases, we analyzed 271 articles to identify emerging trends, key themes, and research gaps within this interdisciplinary field. Our findings reveal significant patterns in how digital innovations, such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and the Internet of Things (IoT), are being leveraged to promote economic efficiency, resource conservation, and social equity—core tenets of green growth. Furthermore, we examine the geographical disparities in the adoption and impact of these technologies across developed and developing countries, highlighting unique challenges and opportunities. This bibliometric analysis not only underscores the transformative potential of digital tools in advancing sustainable practices but also emphasizes the necessity for targeted strategies that align technological advancements with the principles of green growth and inclusivity. Frontline supervisors are pivotal in mining productivity, but face challenges due to the long working hours and rapid decision-making skills required. This paper proposes the application of Short Interval Control (SIC) to streamline information flow and support decision systems in mining, by developing a framework that aims to improve shovel performance during critical hours. Initial results demonstrated improvements in shift change and reduced operational disruption due to lunchtime breaks. Conclusively, although the methodology didn't translate directly to significant improvements due to data availability, it became evident that SIC can help identify deviations and facilitate quick shifts within operational mining processes. Using a qualitative approach, this study examines the role of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in promoting sustainable agriculture and environmental protection among smallholder farmers in tropical Africa. It emphasises how tools such as community radios, mobile phones, satellite systems, and artificial intelligence provide crucial market data, weather forecasts, and agricultural practices. The research highlights the need for equitable access to ICT solutions to narrow the digital divide and foster sustainable development. Among these technologies, community radio stations and mobile phones are identified as the most accessible and affordable options for many farmers, and they can effectively spread knowledge about sustainable practices. While advanced technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT), drones, and artificial intelligence have the potential to enhance agricultural productivity and environmental conservation, their adoption in tropical Africa is often hindered by challenges related to infrastructure and literacy. This study demonstrates the role of ICTs in enhancing agricultural productivity and environmental sustainability among smallholder farmers in tropical Africa. It emphasises the need for equitable access to digital tools and strong policy frameworks to tackle infrastructure and literacy challenges, which are essential for closing the digital divide. The examination of the impact of digital innovations on employee motivation and engagement is crucial given the rapid technological advancements. This study focused on digital HRM practices, such as digital interaction platforms. The results indicated that respondents generally had positive to neutral views on these practices, with big data analytics receiving the highest rating for its potential to enhance organizational performance and employee engagement. The study revealed a moderately strong positive correlation between the use of digital platforms and big data analytics, suggesting a holistic approach to digital transformation in HRM. However, a weak correlation between digital innovations and engagement suggests that the direct impact of digital tools on employee engagement is limited by other factors. Larger companies tend to implement advanced digital HRM practices more due to their greater resources. The study's limitations include a restricted sample from the Central and Eastern European region and reliance on self-assessed data. Future studies should include more diverse regions and long-term studies, combining quantitative data with qualitative insights. Digital innovations in HRM offer promises for process improvement and data-driven decision-making, but their impact on employee engagement is complex and requires an integrated approach of technological and managerial practices. The advent of technology has revolutionized many aspects of human life, including the operation and engagement methods of religious institutions. Historically, church services were confined to physical spaces, limiting congregational engagement to in-person attendance. Traditional worship, involving sermons, hymns, and communal activities, fostered a sense of community and spiritual enrichment. However, declining attendance in traditional settings necessitates the integration of modern digital tools to revitalize worship experiences and engage tech-savvy youth. This study explores the transformative impact of technology on church services, particularly its effectiveness in engaging younger congregants, through a quantitative survey of church leaders, technology experts, and congregants across various denominations. The research examines the adoption and impact of digital innovations such as live-streaming, social media outreach, mobile apps, and multimedia worship formats. Findings highlight enhanced accessibility, participation, and connection, making faith more relevant to younger generations. Challenges such as the potential dilution of spiritual experiences and the digital divide are also identified. Applying the Diffusion of Innovations theory, the study underscores the need for strategic, thoughtful integration of technology that balances modern conveniences with core religious values, bridging generational gaps and ensuring the continued vitality of religious communities in the digital age. This study provides a holistic and systematic review of the literature on the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) in the banking sector since 2005. In this study, the authors examined 44 articles through a systematic literature review approach and conducted a thematic and content analysis on them. This review identifies research themes demonstrating the utilization of AI in banking, develops and classifies sub-themes of past research, and uses thematic findings coupled with prior research to propose an AI banking service framework that bridges the gap between academic research and industry knowledge. The findings demonstrate how the literature on AI and banking extends to three key areas of research: Strategy, Process, and Customer. These findings may benefit marketers and decision-makers in the banking sector to formulate strategic decisions regarding the utilization and optimization of value from AI technologies in the banking sector. The full-scale adoption of digital technologies in Filipino social life became more apparent during the COVID-19 pandemic. The abrupt emergence of this global catastrophe challenged many to shift to digital infrastructures instantaneously, similar to how local government units (LGU s) implemented their e-governance initiatives. Following a case study design, this article sought to find out how local governments carry out digital innovations, specifically the Province of South Cotabato which can be considered exemplary in this area based on awards it received. A total of 524 Facebook posts, gathered from the first quarter of 2021, were examined using quantitative content analysis. Findings of this study revealed that the LGU s (city, municipality and province) demonstrated "prioritization," "appropriation," and "amplification" in fulfilling adjunct roles of being public administrators and content creators at the same time. Purpose: This study aims to examine the main aspects of innovation development regarding digital tools used in the tourism industry in a local area. Design/methodology/approach: A qualitative approach and the descriptive analysis technique was employed to analyse completed semi-structured expert survey questionnaires created in Google Forms. The aim is to examine the opportunities and potential for digital innovation in tourism in the Baltic region. Specialists representing tourism and hotel businesses, the guide profession as well as the disciplines of business and economics were selected as experts. Findings: The experts indicated that digital marketing was very important for tourism development, and it is still considered a new field of science with huge potential. The research results showed that when introducing/developing digital innovations in a local area, tourism companies were faced with low-quality or no data analytics at all. In addition, long-term maintenance of digital tools was not considered, and the investment outweighed the benefits of implementing the technologies. The number of studies dealing with digital innovation in sport marketing has increased rapidly in recent years. These studies address the global phenomenon of digital transformation and its impact on the field of sport marketing. However, most studies have not considered digital transformation in its full complexity nor analyzed its facets through the lens of value co-creation. Therefore, this article reconciles the fragmented research on digital transformation in sport marketing with the current understanding of value co-creation to develop an agenda for sport marketing research. We conduct a systematic scoping review of the literature on digital transformation of value co-creation in sport marketing. The scoping review combines a database search and a manual search, in which we identified 270 relevant articles. Most studies on digital transformation in sport marketing relate to research about social media. Based on the scoping review, we reorder the literature from the perspective of value co-creation and identify relevant research gaps. Based on these research gaps, we develop an agenda for future research in sport marketing, including methodological approaches. This article provides scholars with a basis for innovative future research in the digital era of value co-creation in sport marketing and enhances the repertoire of sport managers for facing the challenges of digital transformation in the sport business. The Fourth Industrial Revolution, with the emergence of educational technologies and digital innovations, makes it essential for the Higher Education sector to review the teaching-learning practices to reshape the futuristic plans for 21st Century learners. English language education has been focused in regions, where the language-learning environment and procedures are transforming with the bend of new technological intrusions and AI intervention. Therefore; the present study aims to investigate the future of EFL Teaching and Learning given the 4IR in the MENA Region. The study is significant as it probes the teaching-learning strategies and examines the readiness of teachers, learners, and the learning environment. The study's main question is, 'To what extent is the learning environment concerning English language teaching and learning at universities in the MENA Region ready to cope with the 4IR demands?' A survey, with 39 items under four sub-divisions, and a fully-structured interview were used. A total of 70 EL teachers participated from universities in the MENA and its neighboring regions. Linear Regression and Thematic analysis of the data show quantitative and qualitative results, respectively. Findings reveal an evident level of readiness in teachers. Results show that Teachers' awareness seems to impact their tendency toward integrating educational technologies. The findings suggest careful curriculum revision because the resources are often reported as outdated. Since the role of EFL in the MENA is to prepare learners for 4IR socio-economic systems and their diversified challenges, the study recommends a thorough review to upgrade the teachinglearning resources, materials, and procedures. Hospitality, which suffered a huge blow during the Covid-19 period and had to adapt its operation to pandemic measures, heads for its recovery. Innovation is one of the ways to get out of an unfavourable situation having in mind that health risks can represent a significant factor affecting participation in tourism. The paper specifies the perception of the necessity of digital innovations application as health protection factor and sustainable mean of hospitality sector development. It shows how of tourism participant in domestic condition of Slovak republic perceive the need of their application to hospitality services. Through the questionnaire method it examined opinion of domestic visitors in hospitality and its direction towards the digitization of services in this sphere, and subsequently tested by Mann-Whitney and Kruskall-Wallis tests. The results show that Slovak tourists treat digital innovation in hospitality services as the ones, that are a necessary part of tourism services portfolio. Their specifics can also be defined in terms of health protection. They can act as an element of health protection by eliminating contact among individual tourism participants. While there is an evolving literature on the benefits of texting and patient-centered technologies, texting initiatives have not focused on family members. We sought to identify patients' family members' perspectives on facilitators and barriers to using 1 digital texting innovation to promote family-centered care during patients' hospitalizations. This qualitative study was conducted at a tertiary care center in Houston, consisting of 7 hospitals (1 academic hospital and 6 community hospitals), involving analyzation of 3137 comments from family members who used the digital texting technology. Thematic analysis methods were used. The data analysis for loved ones' feedback resulted in 4 themes as facilitators: (1) inpatient text messaging keeps loved ones updated and connected (n = 611); (2) inpatient text messaging allows for stronger continuity of communication (n = 69); (3) messaging promotes a sense of staff compassion and service (n = 245); and (4) messaging reduces phone calls (n = 65). The data analysis resulted in 4 themes as barriers to text messaging helpfulness: (1) messages could feel generic (n = 31); (2) inpatient texting was not needed if all loved ones were regularly at bedside (n = 6); (3) messages could have a perceived delay (n = 37); and (4) security features could impact convenience (n = 29). Our findings indicate that family members and loved ones value inpatient text messages, not only for the information the messages provide, but also because the act of writing text messages and preparing loved ones shows inclusiveness, compassion, and family-centered care. The purpose of this study is to identify and analyse the impact of digital innovations to manage business operations during COVID-19 lockdown. Due to COVID-19, a nation-wide lockdown affected the Indian economy severely as both service and manufacturing organizations were closed for a long duration. Thus, to manage with these challenges and address the expectations of their employees, organizations identified various artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud-based digital innovations to continue their business operations during lockdown. The study used a systematic review of literature and document analysis to unravel such innovations that have been initiated and implemented in Indian organizations during COVID-19 lockdown. The study finds that digital innovations and strategies are useful for coping with unseen challenges and also can transform the organizations into smarter ones. The technological and digital transformation in the world has brought Innovations such as online shopping, e-books, smart watches and mobile services. In the way of consumers the adoption of these digital Innovations, including mobile banking services, does not occur at the same pace for everyone. Individuals born into technology (digital natives) and individuals trying to keep up with digital change (digital immigrants) have different attitudes towards adopting these Innovations. Immigrants may be more distant, while digital natives are closer to adopting Innovations. In this research, it is aimed to determine the differences in terms of adopting mobile banking services between digital natives and digital immigrants based on the dimensions in the Technology Acceptance Model. In addition, the relationships between the demographic characteristics of consumers in both groups and their attitudes towards adopting mobile banking services were also examined. For this purpose, a survey study was conducted in the province of Istanbul. A total of 404 questionnaires were applied. The data obtained from the questionnaires were analyzed using the SPSS 23.0 statistical program. Descriptive statistics, t-test, factor analysis and correlation analysis were used in the analysis of the data. According to the results, digital natives think that using mobile banking services is more advantageous, practical, fast and compatible with their lifestyles than digital immigrants. The aim of the article is to identify the relationship between the level of regulation of various segments of the FinTech industry and the level of development of this sector. To address this research problem, the paper analyses the scope of regulation in 14 segments of the FinTech sector, and based on that, develops the FinTech Regulation Index for the individual European Union countries. Then, the paper uses this index to examine if there is a relationship between the level of regulation and the level of FinTech development in the various European Union countries. The econometric analysis confirmed the initial hypothesis that there is a significant relationship between the level of FinTech sector regulation and the level of its development. As digitalization increasingly gains attention in the agriculture sector, many African youths are seizing the opportunity provided by digital technologies to engage in agriculture. While prior studies have started examining the intricacies of digitalization in agriculture, they have paid less attention to its implications for fostering institutions and inter-organizational synergies that can support and sustain the businesses of youth enterprises engaging with Africa's agriculture. Against this backdrop, we undertook a qualitative case study to shed light on the development of a community of practice comprising youth enterprises engaging in agriculture through digitalization. Thus, we studied Africa Goes Digital (AFGD), a consortium of young African enterprises that rely on digital technologies and solutions to provide services to farmers across the African continent. The results showed that: (1) the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation ACP-EU (CTA) played a pioneering role as a development agency in supporting enterprises with drones and training for agriculture, which led to the formation of AFGD; (2) two prevalent themes characterized the services offered by AFGD members; (3) AFGD brings members under one platform where they leverage WhatsApp for communication and knowledge sharing and Twitter to showcase success stories and form partnerships with each other to execute certain development projects with governments and development agencies; (4) the lack of regulations or the restrictive regulations on the use of drones are still problems that some members face, and the high costs of sensors and related drones are challenges for the members. Building on the results, we discuss the implications of digitalization for supporting African governments in meeting sustainability goals and conclude by describing the theoretical contribution of our study and promising future research directions. The article is aimed at researching the interpretations of the concept of «digitalization», formulating the authors’ own definition of the concept, analyzing tendencies in the development of digitalization, studying its impact on business and other sectors of the economy and determining perspective directions of digitalization in Ukraine. The article defines that stiff competition in the context of globalization, dynamic changes in the external environment, and the COVID-19 pandemic challenged all sectors of the economy, forcing them to look for new innovative ways to stay in the market. It is determined that only those areas of business that managed to quickly begin the transition to electronic systems were able to adapt to the new conditions of existence, which allowed them to keep on the market and even increase their profits. Digital technologies are becoming the trend of our time, and digitalization increasingly covers all spheres of life. The introduction of digital innovations allows companies to ensure stable, efficient future operations and market competitiveness. Based on the analysis of the definitions of different authors, the article proposes its own interpretation of the concept of «digitalization». The main advantages of digitalization are also considered and allocated. The research carried out by the authors allowed distinguish priority directions for the implementation of digitalization in Ukraine, namely: medicine, digital marketing, education, public services, and culture. The article explains what results in these areas have already been fulfilled in the direction of digitalization and proposes actions that should be implemented in the future. The development of an efficient system of digitalization of business and the State is a powerful lever of influence on the development of the economy of Ukraine. The carried out research indicates the objective need for further active digitalization of the priority directions identified in the article, which will facilitate the transparency of doing business in all sectors of the economy and public administration in Ukraine.

Digitalization has the potential to hasten the economic transition towards a more resource-efficient as well as robust circular production system. However, there is a paucity of empirical research on the influence that digitalization has on the ability of a circular economy to function effectively. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect that digitalization has on the performance of the circular economy. The research was based on an empirical analysis of quantitative data obtained from a sample size of 200 investors and entrepreneurs in the financial sector of Kozani, Greece. Regression results showed that there is a positive relationship between digital practices and performance of a circular economy, and that digital business innovations have a positive effect on performance of a circular economy. Even while a sizeable proportion of Greek companies apply new business innovations to support the strategy of resource efficiency, it is abundantly obvious that this percentage is far higher among industrial organizations that place a heavy focus on digitalization. According to the findings of the research, there is a favorable correlation between the adoption of digital business practices and innovations and the success of circular economies. This article aims to explore the relationship between digital innovations and sustainable development before and during the pandemic, taking into consideration the level of development of countries. The authors employed both qualitative and quantitative methods, including a critical review of the literature and the analysis of a database of 31 European countries, using various indicators such as the global sustainability index, global innovation index, human capital and research, infrastructure, business sophistication, knowledge and technology outputs, country innovation performance, and creative output. The investigated European countries have been categorized into three clusters based on the level of sustainable development, and their characteristics before and during the pandemic have been examined. The study also explored the relationship between global sustainability and digital innovation. The results suggest that global action is needed to address structural factors perpetuating inequality and underdevelopment in less-developed countries. Hence, this research offers insights into the potential of digital innovations in promoting sustainable development during crises. Policymakers, development practitioners, and scholars interested in sustainable development can benefit from this research to design more effective policies and interventions for different country clusters to understand the impact of the pandemic on sustainable development and develop more effective responses. Purpose. To study the impact of digitalization on the development of industrial enterprises. Methodology. The study used general and special methods of cognition: system analysis and synthesis, which allowed considering the impact of digitalization on the processes and subsequent costs of enterprises; structural and functional method for research and comparison of digitization and robotics; deduction, logical research, graphical way of presenting information to display significant research results. Findings. The study proved that digitalization is a strategic category rather than a technological one. Such levels of digitization as digitizing, digitization, digital transformation are considered. An analysis of the state of digitalization is proposed, which in the future may become a navigation tool for practitioners in decision-making on digital innovation and digital strategy and provide an opportunity to relate them to identified problems and opportunities in different industries with different challenges. The method of increasing the advantages of enterprises such as robotics and its relationship and impact on the level of digitalization is considered. Originality. An analysis of the manifestations of digitalization of enterprises, which are considered on the criteria of reducing costs, creating new value of goods and services provided by enterprises, is conducted. In the conditions of digital redistribution of markets, enterprises are offered to use digital tools as much as possible and to invest in innovations that will allow achieving uniqueness of the offered service or product in the future. The purpose of this work is to study the legal status of actors in Russian experimental legal regimes (regulatory sandboxes). This research analyzes categories of actors of experimental legal regimes (regulatory sandboxes), as provisioned by current Russian legislation. It distinguishes two main groups of actors according to their role in experimental legal regimes (regulatory sandboxes). The research methodology is based on formal logic, systemic and structural analysis, and interpretation of legal regulations. The study distinguished two groups of actors of experimental legal regimes (regulatory sandboxes): participating actors and regulating actors. The former group includes initiators, contenders, subjects, and participants. The latter comprises regulating and authorized bodies, the business community organization, coordinating authorities, and the Bank of Russia. The research aims to determine the legal status of actors of experimental legal regimes (regulatory sandboxes), an institution previously unknown in Russia. It provides a description of subjects involved in establishing a regulatory sandbox, as provisioned by the national legislation, and makes a distinction between participating and regulating actors. Incumbents' inertia in the face of disruptive innovations has been emphasised in prior literature. The relevance of inertia is particularly topical in the context of digital transformation. However, incumbents may be able to invest in disruptive digital innovations appropriately if they possess the motivation and ability to do so. In this paper, I use three streams of research in order to investigate contextual, organisational, and individual antecedents of incumbents' motivation and ability to adopt and use potentially disruptive digital innovations in health care: institutional theory, the resource-based view, and technology acceptance literature. I employ factor analyses and logistic regressions to test the impact on the adoption and usage of telemedicine applications using a dataset of 9,196 European general practitioners. I examine B2B as well as B2C applications in order to determine the effect of the antecedents on different business models. My findings suggest that only isomorphic pressure, complementary assets, and perceived output quality significantly influence both adoption and usage as well as B2B and B2C business models in the same way. Formal institutions and individual factors yield ambiguous results. These findings provide important implications for the understanding of incumbents' response to potentially disruptive digital innovations in regulated contexts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Realizing the full potential of digital innovations – tools, technologies, applications, and services – in Africa requires not just further development of these solutions at meaningful scales, but also more nuanced evidence from both successful and unsuccessful scaling efforts. This paper reviews the conceptual and empirical evidence on the transformative potential of digital innovations for African agricultural markets with an in-depth examination of solutions that have been rolled out to date in the continent. Specifically, the review addresses the following questions: (i) how can digital innovations improve the functioning of agricultural markets in Africa? (ii) what explains the apparent disconnect of most pilots to scale-ups? (iii) what is required to realize their full potential? and (iv) what are the emerging risks and opportunities associated with digital innovations for agricultural marketing? Although our review of the landscape and literature on market-focused digital innovations in Africa identifies several reasons to remain optimistic, the prevailing disconnect between pilots and scale-ups merits further evaluation. Scholars and practitioners have highlighted the importance of digital innovations in the drive towards a circular plastic economy. Therefore this paper investigates the role of digital innovators and the public's response to digital innovations on the African continent. The study draws from four focus groups, and cross-sectional surveys of 33 digital innovators and 1475 community members across 20 low-middle income communities in five African countries. The results indicate that, while digital innovators are strongly optimistic and highly motivated, their engagement and impact on the circular plastic economy ecosystem are limited by a range of institutional, infrastructural and socio-cultural factors. Furthermore, results from the regression models of cross-sectional data of community members show that understanding of the technologies and perceived ease of use have significant positive impacts on uptake of technological innovations for the circular plastic economy, and perceived ease of use is also a significant moderator of barriers to adoption. The findings underline the need for a well-informed and motivated cohort of digital innovators to promote diffusion of circular plastic innovations. It also emphasizes the importance of a more collaborative, multistakeholder and multi-sectoral synergy to create a critical mass of the consumer public needed to break the linear economy lock-in mechanisms and accelerate the transition to a circular plastic economy in Africa. • Motivated circular plastic economy (CPE) digital innovators are hampered by institutional and infrastructural constraints. • Digital innovations enable better interactions and collaborations among CPE stakeholders. • A multi-stakeholder strategy is critical to co-creating popular CPE innovations. • Easy-to-use innovations can help society break lock-in to older, linear economy technologies. • We have found strong complementarity and cyclical sequences of digital-technologies adoption. • More generic technologies are correlated with the acquisition of specific tools with a more complex nature. • For those technologies that are preceded by a positive shock in demand for digital skills, the time horizon is 3–4 years. • We register a surge in demand for digital skills either immediately or one year after a technology has been manifested. In this paper, we rethink the corporate digital divide, a phenomenon not studied in detail in prior research. Motivated by innovation-diffusion, competence-based and skill-biased technical change theories, we hypothesize that all digital technologies' innovations must be supported by demand for related skills and should be integrated into an innovation cycle. This research is conducted using a vast dataset of 1000 large Russian firms observed over ten years, with information collected from open internet-based sources and processed through content analysis. Among the key findings, the digital-innovation cycle has been explored and visualized, by identifying the most probable period of these innovations and their further diffusion. The digital-divide concept has been explicated by examining data on the relative dynamics of digital skills demanded by the same companies during the period of investigation. The empirical results deliver an interesting insight and encourage us to rethink the corporate digital divide through causality between competency accumulation and digital technological shifts.
