Objective To investigate the spatial and temporal evolution patterns of pension resource allocation across various provinces in China and to explore the spatial adaptability relationship and influencing factors between pension resource allocation and new urbanization development, providing recommendations for their balanced development. Methods An evaluation index system for pension resource allocation and new urbanization development levels in China was established. The coupling coordination model and Tobit model were employed to analyze the spatial adaptability and influencing factors of pension resources and new urbanization development. Results Between 2012 and 2021, there was a significant improvement in the levels of pension resource allocation and urbanization across 31 provinces in China; however, both exhibited notable regional disparities. The spatial adaptability between pension resource allocation and new urbanization levels required enhancement, with evident regional differences. Technological promotion and government guidance significantly impacted the spatial adaptability of pension resource allocation and new urbanization. Conclusion Macro-control should leverage government policy guidance and financial support. Technological development should facilitate the efficient utilization and effective scheduling of resources, and regional radiative effects should be harnessed to ensure unobstructed resource circulation channels and coordinated regional development. Abstract New urbanization (NU) and ecological welfare performance (EWP) play pivotal roles in achieving sustainable urban development, with both emphasizing social equity and environmental management. Exploring the coordinated relationship between EWP and NU is invaluable for understanding the symbiotic interplay between humans and nature. We constructed a framework to elucidate the coupling mechanism of EWP and NU from the perspective of systems theory. We quantified the levels of NU and EWP utilizing the entropy weighting method and the super-efficient SBM method, respectively. Furthermore, we assessed the degree of coupling coordination between the two using the coupling coordination degree model (CCDM). Spatial and temporal evolution analysis was conducted, and factors influencing the degree of coupling coordination between EWP and NU were explored through a spatial–temporal geographically-weighted regression model (GTWR). The results indicate: (1) During the study period, the average annual increase in EWP in the study area was 2.59%, with a narrowing relative gap between cities. Conversely, the average annual increase in the level of NU was 7.6%, with demographic and economic dimensions carrying the highest weights. (2) The type of coupling coordination between EWP and NU transitions from basic coordination to moderate coordination, with the development of EWP lagging behind that of NU. (3) City size demonstrates a positive yet diminishing trend on the coupling coordination level, with economic development exerting the greatest influence and exhibiting a "V" trend, while the impact of green technology innovation diminishes negatively. Additionally, regional disparities are significant, with city size exhibiting a negative impact in areas of high population density and low economic levels, and green technology innovation showing notable polarization characteristics in core cities. These findings serve as a foundation for fostering coordinated ecological development amid the rapid urbanization process of the Chengdu–Chongqing Economic Circle.

The coupling coordination relationship between regional highway transportation and new urbanization is an increasingly important issue in the field of regional sustainable development. This paper aims to establish an index system and develop an integrated method to measure the coupling coordination between regional highway transportation and new urbanization. The evaluation index system comprised two hierarchies, six aspects and 19 indexes, which were weighted by the entropy weight method (EWM). Furthermore, a coupling degree model (CDM) and a coupling coordination degree model (CCDM) were established based on the statistical data from 2011 to 2017 in Heilongjiang Province, China. The ArcGIS spatial analysis method was utilized to analyze the spatial–temporal coupling evolution characteristics of the two subsystems. The findings revealed that the development level of the two subsystems showed an upward tendency. The coupling degree between the two subsystems was leaping from antagonistic stage to breaking-in period. The coupling coordination degree between the two subsystems was the transition stage from imbalance to coordination. Specifically, the spatial differentiation characteristics of the coupling coordination development between the two subsystems were prominent in Heilongjiang Province, China. The results showed that the approach combining CCDM with ArcGIS spatial analysis can be applied as an effective method to explore the spatial–temporal evolution of coupling coordination development. With the requirements of a high-quality development strategy, new urbanization also takes high quality as the development goal. This paper utilizes Henan Province as the spatial research carrier to screen and construct a model for urbanization high-quality development and ecological and culturally coordinated development. Comprehensive use of ArcGIS spatial analysis, coupled coordination degree model, synchronicity model and Markov chain and other methods and other methods of the main system, to analyze the regional differences in the level of high-quality and coordinated development of urbanization in Henan Province and the spatial evolution process. It also explores the evolutionary characteristics and functional interaction between urbanization and ecological culture in Henan from the perspective of high-quality development. The results show that the level of urbanization in Henan Province under the integration of ecological culture has been steadily increasing, but there is a large gap between the urbanization levels of various regions. Significant differences exist between the high-quality synergistic development of urbanization in Zhengzhou at the highest level of 0.7782 in the 2022 time period and the low level of only 0.33. This study can provide corresponding policy recommendations for the high-quality development of urbanization in Henan Province, as well as a reference for other provinces with similar urbanization processes as Henan Province.

Promoting the integrated development of both rural and urban locations in the context of new urbanization is a major strategic initiative for comprehensively building a socialist modernized country and achieving coordinated development across regions. The first section of this essay focuses on the significance of modern urbanization and urban-rural combined development, as well as their interactions and internal dynamics. Second, using the province of Henan as an example, it constructs an indicator evaluation system, calculates indicator weights using the entropy value method, and analyzes the development comprehensive evaluation index in order to assess the degree of new urbanization and urban-rural integration development. In the end, a coupling degree of coordination model is constructed to examine the coupling cooperation between new urbanization and urban-rural combined development. Specific suggestions are given to innovate institutional systems that promote urban-rural integrated growth in Henan Province. The overall urban-rural integrated Henan Province’s development index exhibits an upward trend between 2010 and 2020; the comprehensive index increased from 0.1548 to 0.8628, with an average annual growth rate of almost 23.84%.In Henan Province, the value of coupling among the two systems of new urbanization and urban-rural integrated development has grown from 0.932 to 0.985, which is at a high degree of coupling. Urban-rural interaction will be realized, and the efficiency of urban-rural coordinated growth will be increased if the urban-rural built development approach in Henan Province is implemented based on local conditions, scientific positioning, and accelerating the melding of production and urbanization.

Technology innovation capability as an endogenous driving force plays an increasingly important role in the low-carbon transformation of new urbanization. This paper's purpose is to delve into the coupling coordination relationship among the three variables, and promote system's and region's synergy development. Based on the coupling coordination degree model, spatial autocorrelation model and obstacle degree model, this paper investigated the coupling coordination of low-carbon development (LCD) quality, technology innovation (TI) capability and new urbanization (NU) level in China from 2009 to 2019. The results indicate: (1) The coupling coordination degree (CCD) of LCD quality, TI capability and NU level in all regions of the country were fluctuating for a long time, and the regions that reach the coordinated development level showed a slow rising trend with obvious regional differences. (2) Three subsystems' CCD showed significant spatial correlation characteristics, and the degree of spatial agglomeration was constantly increasing. (3) The obstacles affecting the systems' synergy mainly reflected in economic and social indexes. In the end, this paper proposed that policy coordination and linkage should be strengthened, emphasizing the integrated development of the three subsystems. It is necessary to formulate development plans in combination with geographic location and resource endowment to enhance the regional driving effect.

In the current process of deepening reform in China, industrial structure upgrading, economic structural transformation and new urbanization are important takes to promote social and economic development, and technological innovation has gradually become the primary driving force for industrial upgrading, economic transformation and the realization of new urbanization. The article analyzed the action mechanism of scientific and technological innovation on the integration of industrialization and urbanization through qualitative and quantitative methods, found out the prominent problems faced by Henan through the empirical analysis of relevant data of Henan Province, and then proposed the integrated development path driven by scientific and technological innovation. As the key issue in the process of new urbanization, the problem of city-industry integration has drawn the increasing attention from government and academicians, especially in western China. Based on the Urban-Population-Industry (UPI) system, the study utilizes coupling coordination degree to evaluate urbanization city-industry integration level, and identifies the key factors affecting the level of urbanization city-industry integration. Firstly, this study attempts to comprehensively describe the urbanization city-industry integration by a complex system that combines with U, P, I subsystem. Secondly, a comprehensive method for calculating the coupling coordination degree is proposed to reveal the urbanization city-industry integration level in the process of urbanization, including: (i) Grey Relation Analysis (GRA) with Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS); (ii) Hesitant Fuzzy Preference Relationship (HFPR) and Entropy Method (EM); (iii) Coupling Coordination Degree Model (CCDM); and (iv) Particle Swarm Optimization Back Propagation Artificial Neural Network (PSOBPANN). Then, identify the key aspects that influence the level of urbanization city-industry integration. Finally, an empirical analysis of panel data of 18 cities in Sichuan Province from 2000 to 2016 was conducted to analyze the development process. The results indicated: (1) At present, most cities in Sichuan, western China, are at the low coordination level of urbanization city-industry integration. Attention should be given to promote common regional development by playing to the radiating role of the central city; and (2) U, P, I subsystem's insufficient development is the reason for low coordination between the level of urbanization city-industry integration.
