Research has been conducted on the square-planar platinum(II) complexes. The results of the X-ray crystallographic analysis indicate that bis{1-(9-anthracene)}phosphiranedithioplatinum(II) complexes have different molecular and crystal structures.

The structural characterization of the platinum complexes with Z configuration iminoether ligands has been carried out and the results indicate that the stabilization of the Z configuration can be achieved via the use of a substituent in the iminoether moiety.

Research has been conducted on the ruthenium/platinum mixed-metal cluster complexes formed via capping the Ru (sub)3 P face of the nido cluster with the labile Pt(0) reagent. The results of the spectroscopic and structural data comparison for the clusters which reveals the effects of the mu (sub)4 -phosphinidene, phosphorus monoxide ligands on the cluster bonding are reported.

Research has been conducted on the triangulo palladium(II) and platinum(II) complexes which contain substituted 2,2'-bipyridine and triply bridging sulfide ligands. The structural and luminescent characteristics of these complexes have been investigated and the results are reported.

Research has been conducted on the quasi-one-dimensional halogen-bridged Cu (super)II- Pt (super)IV mixed-metal complexes of the form [Cu(chxn) (sub)2][PtX (sub)2 (chxn) (sub)2]X (sub)4, where chxn= 1R,2R-diminocyclohexane and X is Cl or Br. The synthesis of these complexes has been carried out and the crystal structures of the compounds determined by the single-crystal X-ray diffraction have been investigated.

Research has been conducted on the homoleptic bimetallic anionic complexes. The results of the variable-temperature (super)19 F NMR study of these complexes indicate that the occurrence of the dynamic processes produce stereoisomeric species in solution.

The synthesis and characterization of these complexes have been performed via the IR and magnetic resonance spectroscopies and crystallographic methods and the crystal structures of the ionic complexes and mixed-ligand dimers have been determined.

Research has been conducted on the the bis(8-quinolinyl)amine-type ligands. Results indicate that these ligands can be related to the anionic pincer ligand family which can afford a rich reaction chemistry with metals.

Research has been conducted on the of pyridine-2-thiol. Results indicate that the treatment of this compound with H (sub)2 in the presence of 5-methylpyridine-2-thiolate (5-mpyt)-bridged dinuclear platinum(II), platinum(III) or palladium(II) complexes in N,N-dimethylformamide produces pyridine.

Research has been conducted on the p-chiral organophosphorus compounds. The stereochemistry of the P-H bond oxidative addition to metal complexes has been studied and the results indicate the configuration retention at the phosphorus center in the reaction of (R (sub)p)-phenylnylphosphinate with platinum (0) complexes.

Research has been conducted on the oxidative damage of DNA by metal complexes. Results indicate that a platinum complex with the high reduction potential oxidizes such compounds as guanine in guanosine-5'-monophosphate and a douple-stranded oligonucleotide to 8-oxo-guanine.
