Between 13 and 14 September 2018, the European Probation Confederation (CEP) and the West University of Timisoara (UVT) - Faculty of Sociology and Psychology, Department of Social Work organized the 7th edition of the International Conference Multidisciplinary Perspectives in the Qausi-Coercive Treatment of Offenders - SPECTO. The International Conference SPECTO, whose promoter since the first 2009 edition is Prof. Univ. Dr. Mihaela Alida Tomiţă, has become an expected meeting with much interest both by people working in academia and also by practitioners, civil society representatives, social experts and the general public. The article reports on a conference on the place of the creation of the state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany, in 1952 within the broader history of the German federal system, held in Stuttgart, Germany, from October 11-12, 2012. Abstract: The analysis of the ICTAC kinetics study, considered in Part 1, is extended to non-isothermal results. This time there are many analysis methods to be tested by writing our own computer programs. Again the results were compared with those obtained by the contributors using commercial or their own programs. Possible reasons for errors in the original study are suggested and recommendations made. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

This article challenges the traditionally accepted claims that in the early months of 1936, the anarcho-syndicalist labour union Confederación Nacional del Trabajo [National Confederation of Labour], or CNT, posed a revolutionary threat to the Spanish Second Republic. This argument has been used to explain the collapse of the Republican regime, and consequently the military coup that sparked the Spanish Civil War in July 1936. Though revolutionary insurrectionism was inherently characteristic of the CNT and the anarcho-syndicalist movement, in 1936, the organisation was neither prepared nor willing to incite a social revolution. This article analyses the reasons for the anarcho-syndicalists' turn to moderation, paying special attention to the emergence of a perceived 'fascist threat' that heavily influenced the change in anarcho-syndicalist insurrectionary tactics which lasted into the Spanish Civil War. It also evaluates the impact of these findings on Civil War historiography, and proposes a reconsideration of the assessment of blame for beginning the conflict. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article presents information about the 7th Congress of the European Federation of Sexology (EFS), held in Brighton between May 12 to 16, 2004. The opening ceremony was an evening of speeches and entertainment. Kevan Wylie, President of EFS 2004 spoke first welcoming dignitaries, speakers and delegates to the Congress. Short bursts of entertainment, representative of Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland, provided light relief during the evening. The Deputy Mayor of Brighton and Hove Council welcomed all those present, to the towns, with a Civic Reception. Women are complex, therefore it is better to consider sexual disorders or dissatisfaction rather than sexual dysfunction.

This article presents an overview on federalism in the Russian Federation. Americans' familiarity with federalism leads many of them to equate it solely with U.S. version. In the global settings, a wide variety of federal governmental forms exists in both democratic and nondemocratic context. This symposium on federalism in the Russian Federation is designed to increase the American audience about federal systems. Another objective is to provide background on the circumstances and events that led to the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the development of the Russian Federation. The symposium poses basic questions about politics, power, economics and governmental structures that are important for the study of any federal system. The origin of this symposium was a December 1994 Conference in Moscow, Russia on Fiscal Federalism and Change of Functions in the Finance and Banking Systems. The Russian officials and American participants discussed on the principals that should be used for optimum allocation of governmental functions and revenue sources across national, territorial and local governments.

This article focuses on educational federation in Scandinavian countries. The three Scandinavian countries, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway, will begin their postwar education with one great constructive force not existing among any other nations: an educational federation. The educational federation among these three nations is indeed a unique feature. It has peacefully united these formerly aggressive and war-minded nations into a family of nations, yet it has avoided any form of compulsion or uniformity. It is no exaggeration to state that war between these nations from now on is impossible. Yet this Scandinavian federation is not based on any diplomatic acts or international treaties. Educational federation takes the place of peace treaties. The Nordic educational conferences have no weight except their moral influence, yet they have produced among many other results the only real effective system to take out of the textbooks errors, prejudices, and lies that poison youth in international relations, and the antiquated history teaching.

The article presents information about various news and announcements related to operations research. The First General Meeting of International Federation of Operational Research Societies was held at Aix-en-Provence, France on 5 September 1960, it was attended by the official delegates of the member societies. The Secretary of the Federation, Charles Goodeve, reported that the First International Conference had yielded a surplus of nearly 1,000 pound, that the ten Member Societies had a combined membership of 4,243, that an application for membership had been received from the Operations Research Society of Japan, and that be would propose a levy for 1961 of five shillings per qualified member. The meeting considered three proposals. The meeting expressed approval of all three of these proposals and all three were later formally approved by a mail ballot. This ballot also formally approved the five-shilling levy for 1961 and the membership of the Operations Research Society of Japan effective January 1, 1961.

The Second International Conference on Operational Research, organized by the International Federation of Operational Research Societies, took place at Aix-en-Provence, France, September 5-9, 1960. The article gives information about the 13th Congress of the Dutch Federation of Associations of Social Science Students. The theme of the 13th Congress was "The Plural Society--the Applicability of the Concept in Various Countries." The first speaker Dr. A.N.J. den Hollander, professor of sociology and American studies at the University of Amsterdam, discussed "The Social Structure in the Southern States of America" with reference to the concepts "caste" and "class." He made the point that the Negroes and whites have one common cultural pattern and system of values, and that it is therefore impossible to regard the southern states of America as having a plural society. Another speaker felt that the use of the term "plural society" created confusion. J.D. Speckman, research fellow attached to the Institute for Cultural Anthropology and Sociology of the non-Western Peoples of the University of Leyden, spoke on the subject "Plurality in Surinam." He demonstrated that this plurality has developed in stages and pointed out that the standards for measuring plurality are not yet very clear; he thought the social distance scale might be a useful instrument. The last speaker, Dr. W.F. Wertheim, professor of the modern history and sociology of South-East Asia at the University of Amsterdam, treating the subject "Plurality and Unity of Values in South-East Asia and Elsewhere," was also critical of the term "plural society" and preferred to view those societies called plural from the point of view of unity and conflict of values. In the discussions which followed it emerged that the term 'plural society' was generally considered to be inapplicable in the social sciences.
