Gaucher disease (GD) is a rare autosomal recessive metabolic disorder. It is characterized by a deficiency of lysosomal glucocerebrosidase, which results in the accumulation of glycosphingolipid substrates, primarily glucosylceramide, in the phagocyte system. In GD Type 1, the liver, spleen, and bone marrow are typically affected. We report the case of a 7-year-old female with GD Type 1 who presented with hepatosplenomegaly detected incidentally following a motor vehicle accident. She was found to have concomitant thrombocytopenia and Erlenmeyer flask deformities of her lower limbs. Diagnosis was made on the basis of very low leukocyte β-glucocerebrosidase activity and elevated plasma chitotriosidase. DNA mutation studies revealed both c.1226A>G and c.116_1505 deletion (exons 3-11). The patient is currently managed with biweekly intravenous imiglucerase (Cerezyme) replacement therapy. She demonstrated resolution of thrombocytopenia and hepatosplenomegaly at 2-year follow-up. Physicians must consider this rare diagnosis in children presenting with hepatosplenomegaly to prompt timely management.

A three-component, four center Ugi reaction of 3-(1-(2-aminophenyl)-5-phenyl-1H-pyrrol-2-yl)propanoic acid with aromatic aldehyde and t-butyl isocyanide has been achieved to produce a novel class of N-tert-butyl-2-(6-oxo-11-phenyl-7,8-dihydrobenzo[b]pyrrolo[1,2-d][1,4]diazacine-5(6H)-yl)-2-phenylacetamides in moderate to good yields.

The macula is the part of the eye that helps to provide us with our central vision. Diabetic Maculopathy is when the macula sustains some form of dames. DM is a blurring of one central vision. In this paper we have proposed algorithm for macula on retinal images by using fuzzy c-means (FCM) algorithm. The pre-processing stages of macula detection including image resizing, noise removal is performed. Feature extraction based on gray level cooccurrence matrix (GLCM) techniques is implemented. Finally the retinal images and classification is developed using FCM classifier and CNN classifier.

A series of E-(1)-(6-benzoyl-3,5-dimethylfuro[3′,2′:4,5]benzo[b]furan-2-yl)-3-(aryl)-2-propen-1-ones were synthesized by the Claisen–Schimdt reaction of 2-acetyl-3,5-dimethyl-6-benzoyl benzodifuran with aromatic/heteroaromatic aldehydes under solvent-free microwave irradiation. All these compounds were characterized by means of their IR, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR spectra and elemental analysis. All the compounds were screened for their antibacterial activity.

The synthesis and characterisation of some new furoisoflavones prepared from 4, 6-diacetylresorcinol is reported.

Reaction of 2-benzoyl-6-hydroxy-3-methyl-5-(2′-substituted-2′,3′-dihydro-1,5-benzothiazein-4′-yl) benzofurans (4a-f) with a mixture of acetic anhydride and pyridine afforded 6-acetoxy-2-benzoyl-3-methyl-5-(3′-acetyl-2′-substitutedstyryl-2′,3′-dihydrobenzothiazole-2′-yl) benzofurans (5a-f) as sole products in good yields. A reaction mechanism for the ring contraction is proposed. All the compounds (5a-f) were screened for their antifeedant activity by the “Non-Choice test method” using 6 h prestarved fourth instar larvae of Spodoptera litura F. Compounds 5a, 5c and 5d exhibited highest antifeedant activity.

An efficient synthesis of novel spiro 2,3,7,8-tetrahydro-benzo[1,2-b:5,4-b′]dipyran-4,6-dione and 2,3,8,9-tetrahydro-benzo[1,2-b:4,3-b′]dipyran-4,10-dione derivatives in high yields under microwave irradiation is described. The reaction was also studied under conventional heating conditions.

A series of 1-{2, 4-dihydroxy-5-[5-(aryl)-1-pyridine/pyrimidine-4-carbonyl)-4, 5-dihydro-1H-pyrazol-3-yl]-phenyl}-3-(aryl)-propenones (2a-h) have been synthesized from 1-[2,4-dihydroxy-5-(aryl acryloyl)phenyl]-aryl propenones(1a-h)by Micheal addition with isoniazide/pyrazinic acid hydrazide under microwave irradiation and classical heating. The synthesized compounds were characterized by IR,1H-NMR,13C-NMR and Mass spectral data. All the compounds were screened for their Antibacterial activity.

An efficient and mild method for tetrahydropyranylation of thiols, alcohols, phenols and primary amines using a catalytic amount of MgX 2 (X = Br or I) is described; due to the neutral conditions employed, the method is also compatible with compounds which possess acid-sensitive functional groups.

A new 1,2-dihydroanthraquinone, roxburghinol was isolated from the leaves of Cassia roxburghii . its structure was established as 1,2-dihydro-1,3,8-trihydroxy-2-methyl anthraquinone on the basis of physical and chemical evidence.
