A space floating potential detector (FPD) is an instrument being developed to study the charging of spacecraft structures. It measures the floating potential that arises as the spacecraft interacts with the low Earth orbit (LEO) plasma as well as the Earth’s magnetic field. The FPD belongs to the active potential control system and consists of three functional modules. Leakage current-eliminating and zero-clearing techniques are used in the detector design to ensure the measurement of the floating potential over the long term within the range from −150 to 0 V and at a voltage resolution of less than 1 V. In order to investigate the performance of the FPD, a typical LEO space plasma environment is simulated in the laboratory. The calibrations of the FPD show that the output voltage is basically linear with the input bias voltage, and the maximum nonlinear error is less than 0.9%.

Background Sarcoidosis is a multi-system, idiopathic, inflammatory disorder that affects the lungs in over 90% of patients. The incidence of bone lesions in sarcoidosis is only 1-13%. Case report This study describes a 60-year-old woman with a previous history of thyroid cancer, and a more recent diagnosis of lung cancer with suspicious metastatic lesions, which were confirmed to be sarcoidosis. Conclusion This case suggests that pulmonary neoplasms and pulmonary sarcoidosis can coexist and be easily confused. When lung cancer is accompanied by symmetric hilar lymph node enlargement and multiple lung nodules, sarcoidosis should be considered in addition to metastasis, and a biopsy should be performed for confirmation.

In the traditional measurement theory, precision is defined as the dispersion of measured value, and is used as the basis of weights calculation in the adjustment of measurement data with different qualities, which leads to the trouble that trueness is completely ignored in the weight allocation. In this paper, following the pure concepts of probability theory, the measured value (observed value) is regarded as a constant, the error as a random variable, and the variance is the dispersion of all possible values of an unknown error. Thus, a rigorous formula for weights calculation and variance propagation is derived, which solves the theoretical trouble of determining the weight values in the adjustment of multi-channel observation data with different qualities. The results show that the optimal weights are not only determined by the covariance array of observation errors, but also related to the model of adjustment.

In order to satisfy the requirements of power operation scene safety monitoring and lessen the human accidents, a novel framework of video surveillance for abnormal detection in substations based on artificial technology was presented. Firstly, a multi-classes detector based on improved YOLOv3 was proposed to realize the detection and localization of multiple targets. Then, types of violation and defect were discriminated by secondary analysis for the workers or equipments based on detection results. Substation safety monitoring system was developed to implement environment abnormal detection, and it improved the automation and intelligentization level of unmanned substation. The experimental results demonstrate that the mAP(Mean Average Precision) reaches 0.85, which is slightly improved compared with YOLOv3. Nevertheless, the proposed algorithm is capable of real-time detection as faster than 15 frames per second (fps).

Zero-difference balanced (ZDB) functions have many applications in coding theory, cryptography and communications engineering and so on. Recently, the authors [10, 11] generalized the definition of ZDB functions to be G-ZDB functions. In this paper, based on p-cyclotomic cosets, two classes of ZDB functions are obtained, and several new classes of G-ZDB functions are constructed. Furthermore, some frequency-hopping sequences are obtained directly from G-ZDB functions.

With the industrialization and urbanization, the status of electricity in the production and life is getting higher and higher. So the prediction of power quality is the more potential significance. Traditional power quality analysis methods include: power quality data compression, disturbance event pattern classification, disturbance parameter calculation. Under certain conditions, these methods can predict power quality. This paper analyses the temporal variation of power quality of one provincial power grid in China from time angle. The distribution of power quality was analyzed based on spatial autocorrelation. This paper tries to prove that the research idea of geography is effective for mining the potential information of power quality.

In this paper, we propose a novel vision navigation method based on three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction from real-time image sequences. It adapts 3D reconstruction and terrain matching to establish the correspondence between image points and 3D space points and the terrain reference (by using a digital elevation map (DEM)). An adaptive weighted orthogonal iterative pose estimation method is employed to calculate the position and attitude angle of the aircraft. Synthesized and real experiments show that the proposed method is capable of providing accurate navigation parameters for a long-endurance flight without using a global positioning system or an inertial navigation system (INS). Moreover, it can be combined with an INS to achieve an improved navigation result.

A new method for measuring the alternating current (AC) half-wave voltage of a Mach-Zehnder modulator is proposed and verified by experiment in this paper. Based on the opto-electronic self-oscillation technology, the physical relationship between the saturation output power of the oscillating signal and the AC half-wave voltage is revealed, and the value of the AC half-wave voltage is solved by measuring the saturation output power of the oscillating signal. The experimental results show that the measured data of this new method involved are in agreement with a traditional method, and not only an external microwave signal source but also the calibration for different frequency measurements is not needed in our new method. The measuring process is simplified with this new method on the premise of ensuring the accuracy of measurement, and it owns good practical value.

The method of improved wavelet transform neural network based on hybrid GA(genetic algorithm) is presented to diagnose rolling bearings faults in this paper. Genetic Artificial Neural Networks(GA-ANN) overcomes BP neural network’s fault of slow convergence, long hours of training, and falling into the local minimum point. And First, the signal is processed through the wavelet deoising, Then, three— layer wavelet packet is adopted to decompose the denoising signal of rolling beatings, and constructs the wavelet packet energy eigenvector, then takes those wavelet packet energy eigenvectors as fault samples to train BP neural network. Genetic algorithm is used to optimize the training process of BP network. The experimental results show that the optimized BP network by genetic algorithm can diagnose bearing faults, and it is superior to the BP network without optimization, the method has fair prospects of application for the rotary machine fault diagnosis.

[Background] An outbreak of gastroenteritis happened in a high school in Fangshan District, Beijing, China in March 2016,in which 44 students developed the symptoms of vomiting, nausea, diarrhea and abdominal pain. Epidemiological investigation, laboratory investigation and Statistical analysis were conducted to identify the agent and source of this outbreak.[Methods] A case–control study was performed to discover the factors associated with this infection. Questionnaires and clinical data from those infection-exposed people were assessed. Here an outbreak case was defined as a student who developed at least three following symptoms: diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain and nausea in 72 hours after the lunch on 2nd March., and controls were those who study or work in the school but did not have lunch on the day. Samples (Stool samples, rectal swabs and vomit samples) from infection-exposed students and controls, as well as environmental samples like food were collected to test for the existence of any suspicious bacteria or viruses. Detection of norovirus wasdone by real-time TaqMan RT-PCR and sequence analysis. Chi-square test was used to decide whether those differences could be of any statistical significance. [Results] The total number of respondents with complete data was 44. An epidemiological data combined with the epidemic curve indicated that the outbreak started initially from a point source type, and was followed by a secondary transmission. Five stool samples, three rectal swabs and one vomit sample from case group turned out to be positive for norovirus genotype I by real-time PCR, and two asymptomatic food handlers in control group were positive for NoV GI. Sequence analysis of GI positive sample confirmed that the norovirus GI.6 variant was the etiological agent of the outbreak. Comparasion between the tested results from samples of those students who had lunch in school canteen and those who did notindicates that the difference of incidence was of statistical significance (P

This paper presents the design of a linear-quadratic-regulator (LQR) with integral action to improve dynamic performance of an electronic power transformer for distribution systems (DEPT). The integral action is added to cancel the steady-state errors knowing that the standard LQR provides only proportional gains. This controller is designed to achieve the following four control objectives: (1) to keep the input currents sinusoidal and in phase with the input voltages to achieve unity input power factor, (2) to maintain the dc-link voltage at a reference value, (3) to maintain the output voltages at a constant value and (4) to keep the output voltages sinusoidal and symmetric. The DEPT model which includes the integral action in the d–q rotating frame is built and linearized around a set point. The system is tested for dc-link reference voltage, load and input voltages variations, respectively. The validity of the built model and the proposed control strategy is demonstrated by simulation results based on MATLAB/SIMULINK.

For ground penetrating radar (GPR), clutter suppression effect has an important role on target detection. Approaches based on minimal entropy, the signal to clutter ratio (SCR) and image contrast are widely used for assessment. These traditional approaches have inevitable defects. Such as, minimum entropy and image contrast methods lead to inaccurate image evaluation under the cases of heavy clutter. SCR method will be influenced by subjective feeling. This paper presents an adaptive SCR evaluation method. This method can evaluate clutter cancellation effect quantitatively without being influenced by subjective factors.

A new method and instrument for measuring circular motion error of numerical control (NC) machine tools are described in this paper. The instrument consists of a linear displacement transducer bar with two balls at each end and a high accuracy rotary encoder. The radius variations are detected by the transducer and the rotation angle of the bar is measured by the rotary encoder while the machine is moving in a circular path. The measuring area is circular except for a small area around the center of the disc. The bar can be expanded and contracted along its axis for different application. The instrument has a compact structure and can be installed on a machine tool simply and quickly. It is shown by the experimental results that the instrument has good repeatability and high precision of measuring circular motion trajectories. The instrument can be widely used especially in the error-compensation and error-source project in the industrial application.

Pentraxin-3 (PTX3) is an inflammatory marker thought to be more specific to cardiovascular inflammation than C-reactive protein (CRP). Our aim was to assess the prognostic value of PTX3 in patients with stable coronary artery disease (CAD) after drug eluting stent (DES) implantation. Plasma PTX3 levels were measured before percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and at 24 h post-PCI in 596 consecutive patients with stable CAD. Patients were followed up for a median of 3 years (range 1–5) for major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs). We found that the post-PCI plasma PTX3 levels were significantly higher at 24 h after PCI than pre-PCI, patients with MACEs had higher post-PCI PTX3 levels compared with MACEs-free patients, patients with higher post-PCI PTX3 levels (median > 4.384 ng/mL) had a higher risk for MACEs than those with PTX3 < 4.384 ng/mL, and post-PCI PTX3, cTnI, multiple stents, and age but not high-sensitivity CRP (hsCRP) were independently associated with the prevalence of MACEs after DES implantation. The present study shows that post-PCI PTX3 may be a more reliable inflammatory predictor of long-term MACEs in patients with stable CAD undergoing DES implantation than CRP. Measurement of post-PCI PTX3 levels could provide a rationale for risk stratification of patients with stable CAD after DES implantation.

The application of modulated stepped frequency signal in digital array radar is discussed based on the High-Resolution image algorithms. The effects of phase error in every single-channel on high resolution range are analyzed, that is , the nonlinear increase in interpulse frequency will result in distorted main lobe and increased sidelobe, which affects the quality of radar imaging. Also, inconsistent slope characteristics and phase error between different channels will result in the shifting of pattern beam and increase of sidelobe, thereby affects the quality of the angle measurement. In this paper, linear fitting of the phase and adjustment of the slopes are carried. The simulation and experimental results have demonstrated the effectiveness of the method. (5 pages)

This paper presents a new optimal pulse width modulation (OPWM) technique for the current source converter (CSC) which is used as part of the static exciter. The reduction of total harmonic distortion (THD) of ac side line current is considered as the control objective of the proposed OPWM. This is formulated as an optimization problem in this paper, and particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is applied to solve the nonlinear transcendental equations. Furthermore, in order to make this CSC based exciter fulfill more roles than the traditional static exciter, a decoupled loop control technique is adopted to design a controller for this exciter. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed OPWM technique and the control strategy.

In the process of stepped frequency radar signal, we usually obtain the range information of the target through the target extraction algorithm. For the moving target, in order to avoid the issues such as amplitude loss, target lost and fake peak, we need to do the speed compensation before extracting target directly. Based on the target range high-low-resolution two-dimensional image analysis and processing, this paper gives a method to extract the target range and speed information at the same time from the two-dimensional images, and the constraints of the method for stepped frequency signal parameters design. The idea that the secondary voltage of the conventional transformer is selected as the reference voltage of electronic power transformer - EPT's output voltage is proposed on the base of the analysis of parallel principle of EPT and conventional transformer in this paper, in order to eliminate the circulation current and the power unbalance resulted from the parallel operation of EPT and conventional transformer. A novel parallel control scheme based on the proposed idea is proposed and its control performance is also analyzed in detail. The proposed scheme includes three control loops, one is the reference voltage feedforward loop and the other two are the instantaneous output voltage feedback loop and the instantaneous inductance current feedback loop. The theory analysis indicates the proposed scheme has good steady- state accuracy and a fast dynamic response compared with the conventional PI control scheme. Detailed computer simulations based on MATLAB/SIMULINK for one EPT and one conventional transformer parallel operation is conducted, and this parallel system is also implemented in laboratory based on DSP TMS320F2812. Simulation results and experimental results show that the proposed control scheme has excellent power sharing and current-sharing regulation characteristic, a fast dynamic response.

An ac/dc hybrid parallel operation control scheme of EPT based on distributed logic control is proposed in order to eliminate circulation current and further improve redundancy performance in this paper. The proposed ac/dc hybrid parallel operation control scheme consists of a dc side current-sharing control scheme and an ac side current-sharing control scheme. The realization of current-sharing no matter in the ac side or in the dc side is based upon instantaneous average current method. Detailed computer simulations based on MATLAB/SIMULINK for the two EPTs parallel operation is conducted, and this parallel system is also implemented in laboratory based on DSP TMS320F2812. Simulation results and experimental results show that the proposed control scheme has good current-sharing performance under both steady-state and dynamic operation.

Objectives Coronary stent implantation induces a significant inflammatory reaction in the injured vessel wall that leads to the adverse cardiovascular events. A long pentraxin, PTX3, is a useful marker for localised vascular inflammation and damage to the cardiovascular system, however, its prognostic value in patients after coronary stent implantationremains unclear. The aim of this study was to assess the prognostic value of PTX3 in patients with coronary artery disease after coronary stent implantation. Methods 164 consecutive patients with coronary artery disease and undergoing coronary stenting were prospectively enrolled for clinical 1-year follow-up. Plasma PTX3 levels were determined in the second morning after coronary stent implantation. The major adverse cardiac events, which were defined as cardiac death, repeat revascularisation and rehospitalisation for worsening heart failure, were monitored for 1 year after admission. Results During the 1-year follow-up period, there were 39 cardiac events, including 6 cardiac deaths, 17 repeat revascularisation and 16 rehospitalisation for worsening heart failure. In a stepwise Cox regression analysis including 13 well-known clinical and biochemical predictors of CAD outcome, PTX3 (relative risk 3.108 per 10-fold increment, P P P = 0.027) but not hsCRP, were independently associated with the 1-year cardiac events. The plasma levels of PTX3 were higher in patients with cardiac events than those without (5.34 ± 0.79 ng/mL vs. 4.10 ± 0.81 ng/mL, P 4.39 ng/mL of median value) than those without (35.4% vs. 12.2%, P P Conclusions PTX3, cTnI and multiple stents may be potent and independent predictors for 1-year cardiac events in patients after coronary stent implantation. Measurement of plasma PTX3 may substantially improve the early risk stratification of patients undergoing coronary stenting.

Background Proteomics is the new system biological approach to the study of proteins and protein variation on a large scale as a result of biological processes which can identificate several proteins at a given time in a sample. Proteomic analysis has provided important insights into ischaemic heart disease, heart failure, and cardiovascular pathophysiology. Blood represents one of the most accessible sources for biomarkers and has broad clinical significance. Serum or plasma samples provide an excellent source of materials for proteomic analysis. Objectives The aim of this study was to seek the special plasma molecule in the plasma protein map from the patient with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) using proteomics. Methods Plasma from 60 patients, 20 with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and 20 with unstable angina (UA), was investigated. The control group included 20 age-matched volunteers. 2-DE-DIGE/MALDI-TOF- MS analysis was performed during the procedure. The optimal abundant proteins in plasma were removed with the polyclonal antibody affinity column. Results With 2DE-DIGE/MALDI-TOF-MS analysis, 14 different expression proteins were found in plasma of patients with ACS. (1) As compared with the control, serum amyloid A2, CP20 kDa protein, alpha-1 antitrypsin, haptoglobin beta and alpha-2chain, C6 precursor and C4, fibrinogen gammar chain and fibrin beta were up-regulated in plasma from UA and AMI patients. (2) Meanwhile, apolipoprotein A-I, A-IV and A-IV precursor, TF 11 and 7 kDa protein, transthyretin, gelsolin and gelsolin precursor isoform 1, myosin-11, HBB Truncated beta-globin were down-regulated in plasma from ACS patients. (3) Moreover, ELISA analysis showed that SAA was up-regulated and gelsolin was down-regulated in the plasma of UAP and AMI. Conclusions Various proteins involving in acute phase protein, complement system, and cytoskeleton, apolipoprotein, energy metabolism were participated in the procession of ACS. The newly discovered different proteins, serum amyloid A2 and gelsolin might be the special molecules for ACS. But further investigation should be carrying out in the future.

BackgroundCurrent incidence and outcome of patients with acute hypoxaemic respiratory failure requiring mechanical ventilation in the intensive care unit (ICU) are unknown, especially for patients not meeting criteria for acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).MethodsAn international, multicentre, prospective cohort study of patients presenting with hypoxaemia early in the course of mechanical ventilation, conducted during four consecutive weeks in the winter of 2014 in 459 ICUs from 50 countries (LUNG SAFE). Patients were enrolled with arterial oxygen tension/inspiratory oxygen fraction ratio ≤300 mmHg, new pulmonary infiltrates and need for mechanical ventilation with a positive end-expiratory pressure of ≥5 cmH2O. ICU prevalence, causes of hypoxaemia, hospital survival and factors associated with hospital mortality were measured. Patients with unilateral versus bilateral opacities were compared.Findings12 906 critically ill patients received mechanical ventilation and 34.9% with hypoxaemia and new infiltrates were enrolled, separated into ARDS (69.0%), unilateral infiltrate (22.7%) and congestive heart failure (CHF; 8.2%). The global hospital mortality was 38.6%. CHF patients had a mortality comparable to ARDS (44.1% versus 40.4%). Patients with unilateral-infiltrate had lower unadjusted mortality, but similar adjusted mortality compared to those with ARDS. The number of quadrants on chest imaging was associated with an increased risk of death. There was no difference in mortality comparing patients with unilateral-infiltrate and ARDS with only two quadrants involved.InterpretationMore than one-third of patients receiving mechanical ventilation have hypoxaemia and new infiltrates with a hospital mortality of 38.6%. Survival is dependent on the degree of pulmonary involvement whether or not ARDS criteria are reached.

Background To determine the frequency of, and factors associated with, death in hospital following ICU discharge to the ward. Methods The Large observational study to UNderstand the Global impact of Severe Acute respiratory FailurE study was an international, multicenter, prospective cohort study of patients with severe respiratory failure, conducted across 459 ICUs from 50 countries globally. This study aimed to understand the frequency and factors associated with death in hospital in patients who survived their ICU stay. We examined outcomes in the subpopulation discharged with no limitations of life sustaining treatments (‘treatment limitations’), and the subpopulations with treatment limitations. Results 2186 (94%) patients with no treatment limitations discharged from ICU survived, while 142 (6%) died in hospital. 118 (61%) of patients with treatment limitations survived while 77 (39%) patients died in hospital. Patients without treatment limitations that died in hospital after ICU discharge were older, more likely to have COPD, immunocompromise or chronic renal failure, less likely to have trauma as a risk factor for ARDS. Patients that died post ICU discharge were less likely to receive neuromuscular blockade, or to receive any adjunctive measure, and had a higher pre- ICU discharge non-pulmonary SOFA score. A similar pattern was seen in patients with treatment limitations that died in hospital following ICU discharge. Conclusions A significant proportion of patients die in hospital following discharge from ICU, with higher mortality in patients with limitations of life-sustaining treatments in place. Non-survivors had higher systemic illness severity scores at ICU discharge than survivors. Trial Registration: ClinicalTrials.gov NCT02010073.
