Vitamin E is the most abundant lipid-soluble antioxidants present in plasma; however, the relationship between serum vitamin E and change in body mass index (BMI)-for-age Z scores in adolescents has not been well described. This study is a cross-sectional study. Data were analyzed from 4014 adolescents who participated in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. The nutritional status was calculated by BMI Z scores and was classified into normal weight, overweight, and obese. Multivariable-adjusted logistic regression was used to examine the association between serum vitamin E levels with overweight/obesity. Besides, the interaction effects between potential confounders and vitamin E on obesity were further evaluated. After adjusting potential confounders, serum vitamin E levels were negatively associated with overweight/obesity in girls but not in boys. Per standard deviation increment in vitamin E concentrations was associated with a 92% decreased risk of obesity in females. Besides, lower quartiles of serum vitamin E were associated with a higher risk of overweight/obesity in girls. Moreover, the inverse association between serum vitamin E levels and obesity was also found in most subgroups through subgroup analysis. Our study supports the negative association between serum vitamin E levels and overweight/obesity in adolescents. A higher serum vitamin E level may be associated with a reduced probability of obesity in girls, but not in boys.

Ovarian cancer (OC) is a devastating malignancy with a poor prognosis. The complex tumor immune microenvironment results in only a small number of patients benefiting from immunotherapy. To explore the different factors that lead to immune invasion and determine prognosis and response to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), we established a prognostic risk scoring model (PRSM) with differential expression of immune-related genes (IRGs) to identify key prognostic IRGs. Patients were divided into high-risk and low-risk groups according to their immune and stromal scores. We used a bioinformatics method to identify four key IRGs that had differences in expression between the two groups and affected prognosis. We evaluated the sensitivity of treatment from three aspects, namely chemotherapy, targeted inhibitors (TIs), and immunotherapy, to evaluate the value of prediction models and key prognostic IRGs in the clinical treatment of OC. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses revealed that these four key IRGs were independent prognostic factors of overall survival in OC patients. In the high-risk group comprising four genes, macrophage M0 cells, macrophage M2 cells, and regulatory T cells, observed to be associated with poor overall survival in our study, were higher. The high-risk group had a high immunophenoscore, indicating a better response to ICIs. Taken together, we constructed a PRSM and identified four key prognostic IRGs for predicting survival and response to ICIs. Finally, the expression of these key genes in OC was evaluated using RT-qPCR. Thus, these genes provide a novel predictive biomarker for immunotherapy and immunomodulation.

The stringer-stiffened structure is widely used due to its excellent mechanical properties. Improving the manufacturing quality of stringer-stiffened structure which have complex geometry is important to ensure the bearing capacity of aviation components. Herein, composite hat-stiffened composite structures were manufactured by different filling forms and bladders with various properties, the deformation of silicone rubber bladder in co-curing process was studied by using the finite element method. The thickness measurement at different positions of the hat-stiffened structure was performed to determine the best filling form and bladder property. Moreover, in view of the detection difficulties in R-zone of stringer, numerical simulation was performed to get the sound pressure and impulse response of at the R-zone of stringer by Rayleigh integration method, and an effective equipment which could stably detect the manufacturing quality of R-zone was designed to verify the correctness of sound field simulation and realize the detection of stringer. With the optimum filling form and bladder properties, hat-stiffened composites can be manufactured integrally with improved surface quality and geometric accuracy, based on co-curing process.

Background Sodium para-aminosalicylic acid (PAS-Na), an anti-tuberculosis drug, has been demonstrated its function in facilitating the Mn elimination in manganism patients and Mn-exposed models in vivo and improving the symptoms of Mn poisoning. But whether it can improve the growth retardation and inflammatory responses induced by Mn have not been reported. Objectives This study was designed to investigate the preventive effects of PAS-Na on the development of retardation and inflammatory responses in Mn-exposed rats. Methods Male Sprague Dawley (SD) rats (8 weeks old, weighing 180 ± 20 g) were randomly divided into normal control group and Mn-exposed group in the 4 weeks experiment observation and normal control group, Mn-exposed group, PAS-Na preventive group and PAS-Na control group in the 8 weeks experiment observation. The Mn-exposed group received an intraperitoneal injection (i.p.) of 15 mg/kg MnCl2 and the normal control group i.p. physiological Saline in the same volume once a day for 4 or 8 weeks, 5 days per week. The PAS-Na preventive group i.p. 15 mg/kg MnCl2 along with back subcutaneous (s.c.) injection of 240 mg/kg PAS-Na once a day for 8 weeks, 5 days per week. PAS-Na control group received s.c. injection of 240 mg/kg PAS-Na along with i.p. injection of saline once daily. The body weight was determined once a week until the end of the experiment. The manganese contents in the blood were detected by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry. The inflammatory factor levels (TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, and PGE2) in the blood were detected by using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (Elisa) and each organ taking from rats were weighed and recorded. Results Mn exposure significantly suppressed the growth in rats and increased heart, liver, spleen and kidney coefficients as compared with the control group. The whole blood Mn level and serum levels of IL-1β, IL-6, PGE2, and TNF-α in sub-chronic Mn-exposure group were markedly higher than those in the control group. However, preventive treatment with PAS-Na obviously reduced the whole blood Mn level, the spleen and liver coefficients of the Mn-exposed rats. And serum levels of IL-1β and TNF-α were significantly reduced by 33.9% and 14.7% respectively in PAS-Na prevention group. Conclusions PAS-Na could improve the growth retardation and alleviate inflammatory responses in Mn-exposed rats.

This paper proposes an optimal group charging method for battery integrated modular multilevel power conversion system in EV. During single phase AC charging mode, different amounts of sub-modules could be switched on due to its modular structure. With different number of sub-module inserted, the circulating current is also affected, which indicates the potential to decrease system losses. The mathematical analysis between inserted number and power losses is presented. With the optimal inserted number selected, the efficiency of power conversion system could be improved. Finally, simulation results are also obtained to verify the effectiveness of optimal group charging method.

Ischemia/reperfusion-derived myocardial dysfunction is a common clinical scenario in patients after cardiac surgery. In particular, the sensitivity of cardiomyocytes to ischemic injury is higher than that of other cell populations. At present, hypothermia affords considerable protection against an expected ischemic insult. However, investigations into complex hypothermia-induced molecular changes remain limited. Therefore, it is essential to identify a culture condition similar to in vivo conditions that can induce damage similar to that observed in the clinical condition in a reproducible manner. To mimic ischemia-like conditions in vitro, the cells in these models were treated by oxygen/glucose deprivation (OGD). In addition, we applied a standard time-temperature protocol used during cardiac surgery. Furthermore, we propose an approach to use a simple but comprehensive method for the quantitative analysis of myocardial injury. Apoptosis and expression levels of apoptosis-associated proteins were assessed by flow cytometry and using an ELISA kit. In this model, we tested a hypothesis regarding the effects of different temperature conditions on cardiomyocyte apoptosis in vitro. The reliability of this model depends on strict temperature control, controllable experimental procedures, and stable experimental results. Additionally, this model can be used to study the molecular mechanism of hypothermic cardioprotection, which may have important implications for the development of complementary therapies for use with hypothermia.

Ovarian cancer is the most lethal gynecologic malignancy. Surgery and chemotherapy are the primary treatments for ovarian cancer; however, patients often succumb to recurrence with chemotherapeutic resistance within several years after the initial treatment. In the past two decades, immunotherapy has rapidly developed, and has revolutionized the treatment of various types of cancer. Despite the fact that immunotherapy response rates among ovarian cancer patients remain modest, treatment with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)- and TCR-engineered T cells is rapidly developing. Therapeutic efficiency could be improved significantly if immunotherapy is included as an adjuvant therapy, in combination with chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and the use of anti-angiogenesis drugs, and poly ADP ribose polymerase inhibitors (PARPi). Newly developed technologies that identify therapeutic targets, predict treatment efficacy, rapidly screen potential immunotherapy drugs, provide neoadjuvant immunotherapy, and utilize nanomedicine technology provide new opportunities for the treatment of ovarian cancer, and have the potential to prolong patient survival. However, important issues that may hinder the efficacy of such approaches, including hyperprogressive disease (HPD), immunotherapy-resistance, and toxicity of the treatments, including neurotoxicity, must be taken into account and addressed for these therapies to be effective.

Background Cervical cancer is the second leading cause of death in women 20–39 years old. Because coverage for cervical cancer screening is low, and the vaccination rate of human papillomavirus (HPV) is poor in some countries, potential markers to detect the disease at early stages are needed. E2F transcription factors (E2Fs) are a family of transcription factors that function in cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and tumorigenesis. As abnormal activation and regulation of E2Fs are related to tumor development and poor prognosis, we performed bioinformatic analyses and in vitro assays to evaluate the role of E2Fs in cervical cancer. Methods Transcriptional expression of E2Fs was initially evaluated in silico using ONCOMINE and Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis (GEPIA), followed by evaluation of E2F1/2/7/8 protein levels using immunohistochemistry in 88 patient tissues. E2F2 and E2F7 mRNA levels were measured by RT-qPCR. LinkedOmics and Metascape were used to predict functions of E2Fs, and in vitro experiments were performed to assess the tumorigenic role of E2F2 and E2F7. Results In silico analysis showed that E2F1/2/7/8 were significantly overexpressed in cervical cancer, findings which were confirmed at the protein level using immunohistochemistry. Further, upregulation of E2F1/2/7/8 was associated with different clinicopathological prognostic factors, including positivity for lymph vessel invasion and deep invasion of cervical stroma. Increased expression of E2F1/2/7/8 was also related to shorter overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) in patients with cervical cancer. Using multivariate analysis, we confirmed E2F1/2/7/8 as independent prognostic factors for shorter OS of patients with cervical cancer. Finally, in vitro experiments showed that E2F2 and E2F7 are involved in cell proliferation and migration and cell cycle regulation in both HPV-positive and HPV-negative cervical cancer cells. Conclusions E2F1/2/7/8 may be prognostic biomarkers for survival of patients with cervical cancer. E2F2 and E2F7 are involved in cell proliferation, migration, and cell cycle in both HPV-positive and HPV-negative cervical cancer cells.

Some clinical investigations have assessed the efficacy and safety of bevacizumab combined with platinum anti-cancer drugs versus platinum drugs alone in treating malignant pleural effusion (MPE) caused by lung cancer through intrapleural injection. This report is a meta-analysis of independent research conclusions. Eleven controlled trials with 769 MPE patients were included in this report. Pooled odds ratios and standardized mean difference with 95% confidence intervals were estimated using the fixed or random effects model of meta-analysis. For treating MPE through intrapleural injection, bevacizumab combined with platinum chemotherapy drugs increased the overall response rate (p = 0.003), decreased the incidence of chest pain (p < 0.001) and relieved the dyspnea of patients with MPE (p = 0.002), as compared with platinum chemotherapy drugs alone. In addition, intrapleural injection of bevacizumab participation decreased the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor in MPE (p < 0.001). The main adverse effects of two groups were myelotoxicity, hypertension, digestive reaction and damage of liver and kidney. However, the presence of bevacizumab did not show an extra influence on the incidence of adverse effects (p > 0.05). In summary, bevacizumab combined with platinum chemotherapy drugs for treating MPE caused by lung cancer through intrapleural injection has a better benefit of overall response rate and quality of life. And, the participation of bevacizumab did not increase adverse effects.

Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) shows great advantage in the diagnosis of brain diseases, including cervical spinal cord (CSC) disease. This study aims to obtain the normal values of the DTI parameters for a healthy population and to establish a baseline for CSC disease diagnosis using DTI.A total of 36 healthy adults were subjected to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for the entire CSC using the Siemens 3.0 T MR System. Sagittal DTI acquisition was carried out with a single-shot spin-echo echo-planar imaging (EPI) sequence along 12 non-collinear directions. Fractional anisotropy (FA) and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values were determined at different cervical levels using a region of interest (ROI) method, following which they were correlated with parameters, like age and sex. Further, diffusion tensor tracking (DTT) was carried out to reconstruct the white matter fiber bundles of the CSC.The full and complete fiber bundle structure of a normal CSC was confirmed in both the T2-weighted and DTI images. The FA and ADC values were significantly negatively correlated with each other and showed strongly negative and positive correlations with age, respectively, but not with sex. Additionally, there was no significant difference between the FA and the ADC values at different cervical levels.The DTI technique can act as an important supplement to the conventional MRI technique for CSC observation. Moreover, the FA and ADC values can be used as sensitive parameters in the DTI study on the CSC by taking the effects of age into consideration.

Aiming at the problem that how to quickly and accurately detect the target object in front of the running vehicle is difficult to achieve real-time target detection on mobile devices, this paper adopts the framework of the lightweight network model Mobile Net-SSD, and designs a combined network LSTM-SSD for road video multi-target detection. The temporal dimension features between the video frames are extracted by the combined network, so the results of the detection model are corrected. This method effectively improves the confidence of detection and reduces the instability problem in single image detection. Compared with the two detection network models of VGG-SSD\MobileNet-SSD, the average accuracy of the detection results is increased by 2%~8%, which indicates that the LSTM-SSD combined detection network model can achieve good detection results when dealing with the interference situations such as fuzziness\occlusion\etc. This model can provide basis and reference for real-time target detection of unmanned driving.

In order to measure the DC current measurement, a method of current measurement and interference error elimination based on tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) DC sensor is established. Firstly, the basic principle of TMR sensor is described, and its open-loop transfer function is derived, and the parameter variables related to its open-loop gain are analyzed; an adaptive filtering algorithm based on least mean squares (LMS) is proposed to detect the magnetic induction intensity. Taking three magnetic sensors as an example, the magnetic field estimation value under this condition is calculated. Finally, the correctness and effectiveness of the design method are verified by simulation.

This study investigated the influencing factors of the Stirling refrigeration bench on the cooling and churning functions and applied the Stirling refrigeration technology to butter processing. Results showed that both refrigerant volume and mechanical vibration frequency have significant effects on the cooling effect. Optimal cooling effect was achieved for the refrigeration bench with 50 mL refrigerant volume and 12.5 Hz vibration frequency. The temperature of cold end decreased 34.5 ± 2.3 °C after 420 s of refrigeration. Given the parameters mentioned above, the fastest butter formation was achieved when the initial fat content in the cream was 25 %. The quality of the resulting butter is better than the resulting butter formed by using creams with 15 or 35 % initial fat contents. The results provide certain theoretical references for the application of the Stirling refrigeration technology to the butter processing industry.

Scientific evaluation of industry ecologicalization level in all states and cities of Yunnan Province is regarded as necessary premise for developing industry and economy development policies in Yunnan Province reasonably. In the paper, 16 states and cities in Yunnan Province are selected as research objects based on big data and related statistical data. Evaluation index system of industry ecologicalization levels in all states and cities of Yunnan Province is constructed from four aspects of resource, environment, economy and society. Factor analysis method and clustering methodology are applied for comparative analysis on industry ecologicalization level in 16 states and cities of Yunnan Province. Based on ArcGIS platform for the current situation of industrial ecology. Problems, problem reasons, countermeasures and suggestions in industry ecologicalization development are analyzed mainly.

We investigated the relationships between body mass index change (ΔBMI) and prognoses and clinical effects of patients with advanced colorectal cancer (CRC).From January 2008 to December 2012, 224patients with stage IV CRC were diagnosed in our hospital, and their clinical and pathological data were collected for this retrospective study. These patients were divided into lowΔ BMI group (ΔBMI ≤-0.45 kg/m) and high ΔBMI (ΔBMI >-0.45 kg/m) group.After 2 cycles of chemotherapy, there were no significant differences between prediagnosis BMI, ΔBMI, and clinical effects (P = .196; P = .59).There was also no significant difference in median progression-free survival of the high ΔBMI and low ΔBMI groups (P = .530). The overall survival (OS) time of the high ΔBMI group was significantly longer than that of the low ΔBMI group (P = .002). Family history (P = .041), eastern cooperative oncology group performance status (ECOG PS) score (P = .001), ΔBMI (P = .023), and carcinoembryonic antigen, (P = 0.02) were independent predictive factors of OS rates in patients with CRC. The relative risk was 0.72-fold for patients with CRC patients with high ΔBMI levels, relative to those with lower ΔBMI levels.Our results demonstrate that ΔBMI decreases predict poor prognoses for patients with advanced CRC, and elevated ΔBMI was a predictive factor for high survival rate. Thus, ΔBMI appears to be an independent predictive factor of CRC survival rates.

AIm: The current study aims to explore the clinical characteristics of craniocerebral firearm injury and to improve the diagnosis and treatment of this condition. mAterIAl and methOds: Data from 56 patients with craniocerebral firearm injury were analyzed retrospectively for projectile types, traumatic conditions, and treatment approaches. results: 43 patients exhibited intracranial foreign body residence. Of them, 40 were subjected to complete foreign body removal and 2 to partial removal, leaving 1 without receiving removal treatment. 54 patients (96.4%) survived and 2 (3.6%) died. Of the survivors, 36 (64.3%) recovered well, 15 (26.8%) were moderately disabled, 2 (3.6%) were severely disabled, and 1 (1.8%) lapsed into vegetative state. Patients receiving debridement within 8 h after injury had a significantly higher recovery rate than those receiving such treatment after 8 h (82.1% vs. 26.7%; P < 0.001). COnClusIOn: Craniocerebral firearm injury is characterized by rapid traumatic condition development as well as serious trauma and contamination. Accurately judging the traumatic condition and the ballistic tract, performing complete debridement as early as possible, reasonably deciding on the operative mode and approach for intracranial residing foreign body removal, and increasing vigilance regarding concomitant injuries are the keys to the improvement of the overall treatment of craniocerebral firearm injury.

To investigate the variation and significance of malondialdehyde (MDA) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) in brain tissue after secondary brain injury (SBI) with seawater immersion in rats.We randomly divided 163 male Sprague Dawley rats into 4 groups, as normal (Group A), SBI (Group B), SBI with physiological saline immersion (Group C) and SBI with seawater immersion (Group D) groups. The animal model of ischemic SBI with seawater immersion was established based on the Marmarou's model of diffuse brain injury. The water content, and the MDA and SOD contents of brain tissue were detected at 1, 3, 6, 12, 24 and 48 hours after the injury.Compared to group A, there were significant changes of various indicators in group D after injury at 1 hour after injury (P0.05). The water content and MDA contents in brain tissue were persistently elevated and significantly higher than that in groups B and C at each time phase (P0.05). The SOD content showed a persistent decline and was significantly lower than that in groups B and C at each time phase (P0.05). The SOD content was negatively correlated with the MDA content with a correlation coefficient of -0.992 (P0.01).The SBI with seawater immersion is faster and more serious than the simple SBI.

Mobile Ubiquitous Network (MUN) is an integrated network that consists of cellular network, ad hoc network, as well as local area networks (LAN) and so on. In such heterogeneous environment, the location management is one of the most important problems. It is studied in this paper the location management of the ubiquitous wireless networks. A unified location management framework is proposed which uses the coordinates mapping approach, and in which the location management of the familiar heterogeneous networks and the future networks could be achieved without changing the exiting networking much. The analyzing at the end of the paper shows that it has better performance than that of the architecture in existence.

Eu3+ doped CaMoO4 micron phosphors of different concentrations were prepared by chemical precipitation method. The photoluminescence properties were studied in detail. The X-ray diffraction measurements indicate that the samples are scheelite structure, and doping Eu3+ enlarge the lattice parameter of host material. The scanning electron microscope images show that the particle morphology is near-spherical and the size is 4-5 μm. The excitation and emission spectra of CaMoO4:Eu show that CaMoO4:Eu can be effectively excited by blue light and near UV-light, and the red light emission of high colour purity can be realized. The electron-phonon coupling properties were also studied. The results indicate that the magnitude of Huang-Rhys factor is 10-2, so the CaMoO4:Eu is a weak electron-phonon coupling material. The results also indicate that the Huang-Rhys factor increases with the increase of concentration. It is probably because that increasing the doping concentration enhances the lattice relaxation. The transition intensity parameter Ω2 of Eu3+ enlarges while the concentration is increasing. Because Ω2 and the luminescent center environment are closely related, the numerical value of Ω2 enlarges with the increase of degree of environmental disorder. But Ω4 doesn't have obvious change. It can be explained that the environmental sensitivity level of Eu3+5D0→7F2 transition is higher than that of 5D0→7F4 transition. The quantum efficiency of Eu3+ 5D0 energy level decreases with the increase of doping concentration. This can be attributed that the enhancement of Eu3+ doping concentration enlarges the energy transfer rate between luminescent centers, so the energy of excited electrons can be transferred to quenching center more easily and then the nonradiative relaxation rate of excited electrons increases. The best doping concentration of Eu3+ is 25% by drawing the concentration quenching curve. Furthermore, the energy transfer type of Eu3+ in CaMoO4 host is confirmed to be exchange interaction and the critical distance is calculated to be 8.4 Å. The chromaticity coordinate of CaMoO4:Eu phosphors is (0.654, 0.334), so the samples have high colour purity. The study indicates that CaMoO4:Eu micron phosphor prepared by chemical precipitation method is a red phosphor material with excellent property.

The most striking symptom of hypokalemic flabbiness disease is symmetric flaccid paralysis involving both the upper and lower extremities, which is characterized by weaker proximal muscle groups than distal ones and weaker lower extremities than upper ones. Paralysis is associated frequently with symptoms of the alimentary and circulatory system. Laboratory examinations revealed mainly decrease of serum potassium and hypokalemic changes in the electrocardiogram. Abnormal renal tubular function and decrease of CO2-combining power may be observed in some of the patients. Attention should be given to differentiation of this illness from the other hypokalemic paralytic diseases and Guillain-Barre syndrome. The treatment is aimed mainly at administration of potassium in sufficient dosage and concentration as early as possible.

The new disease entity, hypokalemic flabbiness, is an endemic and epidemic hypokalemic paralytic disease found in recent twenty years mainly in certain rural districts in China where cotton is produced. We have carried out extensive investigations and deep-going research work on it for more than ten years. The following preliminary conclusions were drawn: (1) This disease does not belong to the group of well known hypokalemic paralysis of different origins (such as hypokalemic periodic paralysis and Cohn’s disease, etc.). It refers to a new clinical entity which was first discovered and described in China. Up to the present it has not yet been reported in medical literature abroad. (2) Its etiology is very closely related to the gossypol in the raw cotton seed oil usually taken by the inhabitants living in the endemic areas. (3) Pathologically and pathophysiologically, there are evidences of renal tubular damage and renal tubular acidosis, and the loss of body potassium is via kidney. Allergic reaction may presumably take part in the pathogenesis of this disease.
