O ensino de microbiologia deve ser considerado importante na educação, pois a didática utilizada impacta diretamente no processo de aprendizagem. Objetivou-se contribuir com métodos práticos e didáticos no ensino online de microbiologia de uma instituição de ensino superior de Teresina-PI. A pesquisa é do tipo exploratória de abordagem quantitativa e qualitativa. Assim, a realização do COM utilizou metodologias ativas (Google Classroom, Google Forms, e Kahoot) para a interação. Os resultados apresentaram-se significativos, onde 90% dos discentes afirmaram que as atividades contribuíram na assimilação dos conteúdos. Conclui-se que os métodos práticos de ensino online usados, foram significativos no processo de aprendizagem dos conteúdos de microbiologia.

Objective: To characterize the influence of birthplace on outcomes of patients with gastroschisis admitted to three hospitals in a state in Brazil’s southeastern region, according to condition inborn (born in a reference center) or outborn (born outside the reference center). Methods: Retrospective multicenter cohort study of patients with gastroschisis. The sample size utilized was of patients admitted in three hospitals with a diagnosis of gastroschisis ICD 10 Q79.3 between January 2000 to December 2018. Patients were divided into two groups, inborn and outborn. Characteristics of prenatal, perinatal and postoperative were compared using statistical tests. The level of significance adopted was P-value < 0.05. Results: In total, 144 cases of gastroschisis were investigated. The outborn patients group had higher rates of absence of antenatal diagnosis (p = 0.001), vaginal delivery (p = 0.001), longer time between birth and abdominal wall closure surgery (p = 0.001), to silo removal (p = 0.001), to first enteral feeding (p = 0.008), for weaning from mechanical ventilation (p = 0.034), used less peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) and required more venous dissections (p = 0.001), and lower mean of serum sodium (p = 0.015). There were no differences in mortality rates and length of hospital stay between the inborn and outborn groups. Conclusion: Although outborn patients with gastroschisis were less likely to have an antenatal diagnosis and were more prone to a longer time to undergo surgical and feeding procedures, and to spend more time in mechanical ventilation, these disadvantages seemed not to reflect on the death rate and the length of hospital stay of patients from this group.

Broiler flock welfare is usually assessed through mortality, physiology, behavior, and walking ability. The possibility of assessing broiler chicken lameness using the bird walking ability was investigated using the machine learning approach for the first time. Data on broiler walking speed and acceleration, genetic strain, and sex were recorded and input in a dataset. Broilers were classified according to the 6-point gait score (GS0 is a sound bird, and GS5 is a severely lame bird). Decision trees were built initially using all datasets. The confusion matrix of each developed model was analyzed. The pruning technique was used, removing from the dataset the variables that did not infer in the classification results. We reorganized the dataset and re-arranged the data by grouping the intermediate target class of gait score using the Borda Count method. Re-processing data, we obtained a new set of decision trees. Using the 3-point gait score (GS0 is a sound bird, and GS2 is a lame bird), we obtained a new model with better accuracy (78%); however, the model had a lower accuracy for classifying lame broilers (GS2, 5%). The final decision tree was selected for classifying broilers, either sound or lame, according to their walking speed. The developed model presented good accuracy (91%), and it ordered properly sound (86%) and lame birds (92%). The novel model might be used to assess broiler lameness on-farm by registering the bird displacement velocity. Further developments using the model might allow flock lameness detection automatically.

Medical Medicine specialists are using images more and more as support in decision making in the identification of pathologies with greater complexity and severity in the specific case. Predictive and diagnostic models in images with neoplasia (collagen V) associated with exposure to asbestos fibers were studied. In this article we intend to initially assess machine learning on the basis containing 100 images classified by specialists with characteristics of normality and abnormality to aid diagnosis. Therefore, the objective is to analyze and use the concepts of learning by the technique of artificial intelligence with neural networks that culminated in significant advances of 81% of correct answers in the image diagnostics and to propose the application of the Paraconsistent Standard Analyser Unit of Artificial Neural Networks in order to categorize the degree of abnormality (normal, almost normal, almost abnormal, abnormal) with the use of the extreme and non-extreme states of Paraconsistent Logic and thus support specialists in decision making in the diagnosis of cancer.

Radiographic examinations combined with clinical and histological tests play an important role in diagnosing changes in the craniofacial region. Considering that X-radiation is a form of ionizing energy capable of damaging the DNA of individuals, it has been the object of studies since its introduction. The micronucleus test is used to quantify this damage, assessing whether or not chromosomal breakage occurs. Objective: To evaluate, through a systematic review (SR) with meta-analysis, the occurrence of genotoxic effects in the oral epithelium after the exposure of patients to panoramic radiographs. Methods: An SR was performed with the PICOS (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome, and Study design) strategy, aiming to answer the following question: “Can panoramic radiographs induce genotoxic effects on the oral epithelium?” The study was registered in the PROSPERO (International prospective register of systematic reviews) platform. A systematic search was performed in the following electronic databases: PubMed (including MedLine), Scopus, Embase, LILACS, Medline EbscoHost, and Google Scholar. Treatment effects were defined as standardized mean difference (SMD), and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were established. The Joanna Briggs Institute questionnaire for observational studies was applied to assess the risk of bias. The GRADE tool was used to assess the quality of evidence of the SR. Results: A total of 251 potentially relevant studies were selected through the search strategy. After screening titles and abstracts, 11 full-text manuscripts were assessed for eligibility and nine observational studies were included in the meta-analysis. The present study showed an increase in micronuclei after the exposure (SMD = 0.21, 95% CI, 0.03 to 0.28, p = 0.02), with a Tau2index = 0.00, Chi2 = 2.35, and p-value = 0.97. Therefore, the articles selected were considered homogeneous and the I² of 0% indicated low heterogeneity. Conclusion: According to the studies analysed, although the quality of evidence was considered low, panoramic radiographs can cause genotoxic damage in the oral epithelium but with a small effect size.

Introdução: A fibromialgia (FM) é definida como uma síndrome dolorosa crônica na qual não ocorre inflamação de etiologia desconhecida e apresenta dor generalizada no sistema musculoesquelético. O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar a melhora clínica da dor, qualidade de vida e do sono em mulheres portadoras de FM por meio da Estimulação Elétrica Nervosa Transcutânea (TENS). Métodos: Foram incluídas no estudo mulheres com diagnóstico clínico de FM e excluídas mulheres com mais de 60 anos ou que não pudessem comparecer aos atendimentos. Os instrumentos de avaliação utilizados foram: Escala Visual Analógica (EVA), Mapa de Dor, Índice de Qualidade do Sono de Pittsburgh (PSQI) e Questionário de Impacto da Fibromialgia (FIQ). As participantes foram submetidas a 14 aplicações da TENS no modo acupuntura e as avaliações foram realizadas em três momentos. Resultados: Houve redução da intensidade da dor e número de tender points em 3 participantes assim como melhora na qualidade do sono e um efeito mais discreto em uma delas. Houve melhora da qualidade de vida para três das pacientes submetidas a TENS. Conclusões: A melhora da dor, qualidade de vida e qualidade do sono com a aplicação da TENS, mesmo após um mês do tratamento, sugere que esta modalidade terapêutica pode ser positiva para pacientes com fibromialgia.

The intrauterine device (IUD) is a long-acting reversible contraceptive (LARC) option and has a low cost to the health system. It is an excellent cost-effective strategy for contraception. This study aimed to characterize the epidemiological profile of women who had an IUD inserted, in addition to evaluating the degree of pain during insertion, correlating it with age and obstetric variables. This is a retrospective study with women who inserted an IUD in a reference service in Sergipe between November 2018 and February 2021. Information such as age, number of pregnancies, deliveries and abortions before IUD insertion, pathology or reason for IUD indication, pain scale, hysterometry and wire size after insertion was analyzed. The study included 346 women who inserted copper IUDs and 47 who inserted hormonal IUDs. The mean age of patients was 27.1 years and 33.7 years, mean pain was 4.6 and 5.5 and mean hysterometry was 8.29 and 8.55, respectively. It was noticed that more than 60% of women had at least one pregnancy prior to insertion of the device, in both cases. There was no correlation between pain level and age and parity. Most women who inserted IUDs were in the post-adolescent phase. In addition, most had already had at least one previous pregnancy and experienced moderate pain during IUD insertion. El dispositivo intrauterino (DIU) es una opción anticonceptiva reversible de acción prolongada (LARC) y tiene un bajo costo para el sistema de salud, por lo tanto, es una excelente estrategia costo-efectiva para la anticoncepción. El objetivo fue caracterizar el perfil epidemiológico de las mujeres a las que se les colocó un DIU, además de evaluar el grado de dolor durante la inserción, correlacionándolo con edad y variables obstétricas. Se trata de un estudio retrospectivo con mujeres que se colocaron un DIU en un servicio de referencia en Sergipe entre noviembre de 2018 y febrero de 2021. Se analizó información como edad, número de embarazos, partos y abortos antes de la inserción del DIU, patología o motivo de la indicación del DIU, escala de dolor, histerometría y tamaño del alambre después de la inserción. 346 mujeres se colocaron DIU de cobre y 47 se colocaron DIU hormonales. La edad media de los pacientes fue 27,1 años y 33,7 años, el dolor medio fue 4,6 y 5,5 y la histerometría media fue 8,29 y 8,55, respectivamente. Se notó que más del 60% de las mujeres tenían al menos un embarazo antes de la inserción del dispositivo, en ambos casos. No hubo correlación entre el nivel de dolor y la edad y la paridad. La mayoría de las mujeres que se colocaron DIU estaban en la fase posadolescente. Además, la mayoría ya había tenido al menos un embarazo anterior y experimentaron un dolor moderado durante la inserción del DIU. O objetivo foi caracterizar o perfil epidemiológico das mulheres que inseriram DIU, além de avaliar o grau de dor na inserção, correlacionando-o com idade e variáveis obstétricas. Trata-se de um estudo retrospectivo com mulheres que inseriram DIU em um serviço de referência em Sergipe entre novembro de 2018 e fevereiro de 2021. Foram analisadas informações como idade, quantidade de gestações, partos e abortos antes da inserção do DIU, patologia ou motivo da indicação do DIU, escala de dor, histerometria e tamanho do fio após inserção. 346 mulheres inseriram DIU de cobre e 47 inseriram DIU hormonal. Além disso, a maior parte já tinha tido pelo menos uma gestação prévia e apresentou dor moderada durante a inserção do DIU.

Highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) allows chronicity of AIDS evolution, leading to association of other pathologies such as coronary artery disease (CAD). Myocardial ischemia (MI) and left ventricular diastolic dysfunction (LVDD) evaluation in HIV-infected patients may favor primary prevention of CAD. The study aimed to evaluate frequencies of MI and LVDD in the population living with the human immunodeficiency virus (PLHIV) and asymptomatic for CAD. We analyzed data from 110 HIV-infected patients who underwent clinical and laboratory evaluation, treadmill exercise stress test, and transthoracic echocardiogram, and compared it with 2,619 healthy individuals from the control group (non-HIV and non-CAD), selected from the database. HIV-infected patients presented lower average age (51.5 ± 7.7), systemic arterial hypertension (28.0%) and dyslipidemia frequencies (32.0%). On the other hand, their MI frequency was twice as high (14.7%); and diastolic dysfunction (DD) percentage was higher in ischemic patients (45.5%). In the HIV-infected group, MI frequency was 10.0%, while that of DD was 18.2%. MI was twice as frequent among HIV infected patients compared to uninfected, despite lower frequency of risk factors for CAD. Non-ischemic patients living with HIV had a frequency of DD more than twice compared to the control individuals. La terapia antirretroviral de gran actividad (TARGA) permite la cronicidad de la evolución del SIDA, lo que lleva a la asociación de otras patologias, como la enfermedad de las arterias coronarias (EAC). La evaluación de isquemia miocárdica (IM) y disfunción diastólica del ventrículo izquierdo (DDVI) en pacientes infectados por VIH puede favorecer la prevención primaria de la EAC. El objetivo fue evaluar las frecuencias de IM y DDVI en la población que vive con el virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana (PVVIH) y asintomática de EAC. Analizamos datos de 110 pacientes infectados por VIH que se sometieron a evaluación clínica y de laboratorio, prueba de esfuerzo y ecocardiograma transtorácica y los comparamos con 2.619 individuos sanos del grupo control (sin VIH y sin EAC), seleccionados del base de datos. Los pacientes infectados por VIH presentaron menor edad promedio (51,5 ± 7,7) y frecuencias de hipertensión arterial sistémica (28,0%) y de dislipidemias (32,0%). Por otro lado, su frecuencia de IM fue dos veces mayor (14,7%); y el porcentaje de disfunción diastólica (DD) fue mayor en los pacientes isquémicos (45,5%). En el grupo infectado por VIH, las frecuencias de IM fueron 10%, mientras que la DD fue 18,2%. La IM fue dos veces más frecuente entre los pacientes infectados por VIH en comparación con los no infectados, a pesar de la menor frecuencia de factores de riesgo de EAC. Los pacientes no isquémicos que vivían con VIH tenían una frecuencia de DD de más del doble en comparación con los individuos de control. A terapia antirretroviral altamente eficaz (HAART) permite a cronicidade da evolução da AIDS, levando à associação de outras patologias, como a doença arterial coronariana (DAC). A avaliação da isquemia miocárdica (IM) e da disfunção diastólica do ventrículo esquerdo (DDVE) em pacientes infectados pelo HIV pode favorecer a prevenção primária de DAC. O estudo teve como objetivo avaliar as frequências de IM e DDVE na população vivendo com o vírus da imunodeficiência humana (PVHIV) e assintomática para DAC. Analisamos dados de 110 pacientes infectados pelo HIV submetidos a avaliação clínica e laboratorial, teste ergométrico em esteira e ecocardiograma transtorácico, e comparamos com 2.619 indivíduos saudáveis do grupo controle (sem HIV e sem DAC), selecionados da base de dados. Pacientes infectados pelo HIV apresentaram menores média de idade (51,5 ± 7,7) e frequência de hipertensão arterial sistêmica (28,0%) e de dislipidemia (32,0%). Por outro lado, sua frequência de IM foi duas vezes maior (14,7%); e o percentual de disfunção diastólica (DD) foi maior nos pacientes isquêmicos (45,5%). No grupo infectado pelo HIV, a frequência de IM foi de 10,0%, enquanto a de DD foi de 18,2%. O IM foi duas vezes mais frequente entre os pacientes infectados pelo HIV em comparação com os não infectados, apesar da menor frequência de fatores de risco para DAC. Pacientes não isquêmicos que vivem com HIV tiveram uma frequência de DD mais de duas vezes maior em comparação com os indivíduos controle.

Hyperreactio luteinalis (HL) is a very rare and benign condition related to pregnancy, in which there is a massive and functional increase in ovaries, occupied by multiple benign theca lutein cysts. It generally does not affect pregnancy course and can be observed and diagnosed incidentally in third trimester. The cysts and, consequently, the ovaries regress spontaneously after delivery due to decrease in hCG. This report describes a case of HL in a 29-year-old primiparous woman with dyspnea, pelvic pain and clinical signs of hyperandrogenism, with the ovaries enlarged on transvaginal ultrasound. The conduct was expectant and, during delivery, a biopsy was performed, which confirmed the diagnosis. The knowledge of benign and self-limited disease defends a conservative treatment and helps in differentiation between HL and other malignant diseases. It is, therefore, essential that obstetricians are familiar with HL to guide the correct management and avoid unnecessary iatrogenic procedures.

Cranium bifidum occultum (CBO) is a rare congenital disease characterized by the anomalous ossification of parietal bones, which presents with a midline bone defect with no extrusion of intracranial content. Its association with craniosynostosis has been reported only a few times to date. The aim of this case report was to describe, for the first time, the association between presumed non-syndromic trigonocephaly and CBO, as well as the treatment of both conditions using the same surgical approach. This was done by performing fronto-orbital advancement and the split-bone technique using piezosurgery, in order to achieve an autologous sample to cover the bone defect. To the best of our knowledge, this approach was proven to be safe and able to treat both diseases without a heterologous bone graft.

The search for sustainable agriculture is a reality that aims saving water and agricultural inputs to obtain greater productivity. Some techniques can be used for this purpose, such as drip irrigation and the plastic mulch of the soil. Thus, the aim of this study was to verify the effects of plastic mulch under two water depths on the productive characteristics of a commercial tomato field. The employed experimental design was the completely randomized in a 2 x 2 factorial. The sources of variation were two types of soil cover (with and without plastic mulch) and two water depths (164 mm and 188 mm) with nine replicates. Plant height and water use efficiency were not influenced by soil mulch or water depth variation. Soil with plastic mulch provided a lower mean fruit mass (108.32 g fruit-1), however, with a higher number of fruits per plant (70), which contributed to a higher commercial yield (58.42 t ha-1). The highest total yield (64.08 t ha-1) was obtained in the soil with plastic mulch under the water depth of 188 mm. The use of plastic mulch associated with a water depth of 188 mm provided an increase in tomato yield.

Ever since the shunt device became the gold standard treatment for hydrocephalus, complications due to infections and mechanical problems have increased while lives have been saved. In addition, abdominal complications have become an important issue as the peritoneum is now the main place to insert the distal catheter. The most common complications were abdominal pseudocyst, distal catheter migration, inguinal hernia, catheter disconnection, and intestinal obstruction. The pediatric population is more prone to develop most of these complications due to their rapidly growing body, weaker abdominal musculature, and increased intraabdominal pressure. The goal of this review was to study the main aspects associated with abdominal complications after ventriculoperitoneal shunt (VPS) insertion, including the pathophysiology, epidemiological aspects, as well as the rationale for management and prevention according to the current “state-of-the-art.” It is paramount to recognize the risk factors associated with various types of complications to manage them properly.

Traditional Logistic Systems related to the modules of routes and vehicle tracking were observed, which use classical logic. In this study, whose main objective is a proposal for digital transformation with the implementation of the use of Paraconsistent Logic Evidential Annotated Eτ for optimization and reduction exposure to the risk of the cargo transport process in these types of systems. The methodology used para-analyzer algorithm, with selection of specialists in decision-making issues to improve the safety of the routes and minimize the risks exposed in the cargo’s path from shipment to the destination. An exploratory research was used surveys through applied logical questionnaires. The main results were compared to the Case Study of the Volkswagen Modular Consortium - Trucks and buses, from a logistical point of view, in which the three main factors resulting from this study can prove an alignment regarding the implementation of this innovation. In addition, data on incidents occurred at the Agrobusiness Company regarding the Routes and Tracking Systems were presented, proving the risk of the loads and the need for digital transformation in these types of systems.

Due to the momentum of Industry 4.0 in various product and service sectors, academic and business investments in the development of new technologies in the logistics sector also stand out. Based on these trends, bibliographical research was carried out of articles dedicated to robotics with application in the logistics sector. Based on the bibliographic survey results, this work proposes a prototype of an autonomous terrestrial mobile robot that must go through corridors in specific layouts in logistics centres focusing on the aid of control tasks and management information for decision making. The main contribution is testing a para-analyzer algorithm based on non-classical logic such as Paraconsistent Annotated Logic Eτ, as the decision-making tool to avoid obstacles.

Rapid technological change and globalization have created new challenges when it comes to the protection and processing of personal data. In 2018, Brazil presented a new law that has the proposal to inform how personal data should be collected and treated, to guarantee the security and integrity of the data holder. The society has been driven to create parameters for sustainable development and to transposition into the circular economy. Sustainability strategies were assessed in fabric value chain and clothing. To discuss this subject, we analyzed the results found using the information published in the current literature about sustainability in the textile chain. The results indicate that the fabric and clothing production chain needs to expand sustainable practices, such as selective collection, reuse, recycling, and proper disposal of textile waste, and to improve the population’s awareness of the theme, one of the obstacles to sustainability. The adoption of recycling will be a qualitative leap for the circular economy in the studied business chains and will just happen when education becomes a priority. The results show it is urgent to change the paradigm in society in order to enter a circular and sustainable economy.

The article suggests the use of the Paraconsistent Decision Method (MPD) to improve the analysis of data captured in a standardized SUS-System Usability Scale questionnaire. The paraconsistent evaluation allows you to measure the usability quality of the provider registration software developed on the SalesForce platform. The data obtained through the questionnaire must be processed to be submitted to the Para-analyzer algorithm of The Paraconsistent Annotated Logic Evidential Eτ - Logic Eτ. Logic Eτ is used as a non-classical logic that allows analyzing the opinions of users considering their uncertainties, inaccuracies, ambiguities, and subjectivities that are inherent to human values. Through the Para-analyzer algorithm, we intend to obtain a consensus of the opinions of the experts on the usability of the software. The model with Logic Eτ allows being used in addition to the statistical treatment provided by the SUS method, improving the analysis of the data. With the result of this analysis, it is intended to diagnose usability problems contributing to the improvement of software development.

The incidence of tethered cord syndrome after myelomenigocele (MMC) repair is higher in patients undergoing in utero than postnatally. However, a paucity of studies have described the details of untethering in children which MMC was corrected during fetal life. In this technical note, we describe the spinal cord untethering of a girl after MMC in utero repair, highlighting the main steps regarding the anatomic recognition as well as neurophysiological monitoring finding role.

The pleomorphic adenoma is the most frequent benign neoplasm that affects the salivary glands. It presents a predilection for the female sex and for the age from 30 to 60 years. It is most commonly located in the parotid glands followed by submandibular and minor salivary glands. On minor salivary glands, the most frequent site is the hard palate region. The clinical manifestation is a firm, painless, slow-growing volume increase. The initial treatment is to perform a biopsy, and to aid in the diagnosis, the use of computed tomography is required. Pleomorphic adenomas are best treated by surgical excision. The objective is to report a case of pleomorphic adenoma in the palate of a 17-year-old female leucoderm patient. The examination showed an ovoid-shaped swelling located in a region of right, asymptomatic, sessile rigid palate with a rubbery consistency, measuring about 3 cm. The treatment was surgical excision.

Introduction: The use of the mobile device is based on radiofrequency waves, a type of electromagnetic wave, formed by a magnetic and electric field. This technology uses radio transmitters and receivers, operating in the microwave range, and therefore, ends up being an emitter and receiver of nonionizing energy. Objective: To evaluate whether the nonionizing radiation emitted by smartphones cause genotoxic and/or cytotoxic effects on the cells present in the oral mucosa, and to compare the different brands. Study design: A total of 30 adults were divided into 2 groups according to 2 mobile phone brands. The material was collected by smearing the jugal mucosa bilaterally with a spatula, and it was evaluated by means of the micronucleus test. This test analyzed the shape, borders, changes within the cytoplasm, and the chromatin structure, color, and texture. Statistical analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon test, with a significance level of 5%. Results: For micronuclei, there was no statistically significant difference between exposed and nonexposed sides (P = .251); however, for the other alterations, there was a statistically significant difference (P = .024). Regarding the comparison between the marks, there was no statistically significant difference (P = .47). Conclusion: The different brands of smartphones do not appear to offer risks of inducing genotoxicity. However, both brands showed cytotoxicity. Funding: CNPq.

O início da implantação do Programa Teleodontologia no Estado de Sergipe aconteceu em 2012 em parceria com o Ministério da Saúde, contemplando os 75 municípios sergipanos com pontos de acesso presentes em unidades e clínicas de Atenção Primária à Saúde. Atualmente, o Núcleo de Teleodontologia Sergipe contempla 100% dos municípios do Estado com 163 pontos implantados. Assim, o presente estudo teve por objetivo identificar as demandas enviadas pelos cirurgiões-dentistas do Estado de Sergipe ao Telessaúde no período de 2013 a 2019. Os dados foram coletados de bancos de dados da Teleodontologia, contendo informações de 230 profissionais cadastrados, totalizando uma amostra de 137 dúvidas. Dentre as dúvidas, aproximadamente 30% são sobre diagnóstico, seguidas por 13% sobre tipo de medicação principalmente relacionada a grupos como gestantes e hipertensos. Dentre os municípios que mais utilizam a ferramenta tem-se Aracaju e Nossa Senhora do Socorro. Observa-se uso gradativo por parte dos profissionais, sendo no ano de 2013 a 2014 com apenas 27 perguntas. Houve grande adesão pelo uso da ferramenta pelos profissionais auxiliando no processo de melhor atendimento à população e diagnósticos pautados em referencias do Ministério da Saúde.

O objetivo do presente estudo foi analisar o desempenho da atenção odontológica especializada nos Pacientes com Necessidades Especiais (PNE) atendidos no Centro de Especialidades Odontológicas (CEO) de Aracaju, Brasil. Trata-se de um estudo transversal, observacional e analítico em que a coleta dos dados foi feita a partir dos prontuários dos PNE atendidos no CEO nos anos de 2017 até 2019. Foram avaliadas as produções ambulatoriais realizadas nos PNE nos anos de 2018 e 2019 através de informações cadastradas no Departamento de Informática do Sistema Único de Saúde (DATASUS) por meio do aplicativo de domínio público TABNET e comparadas com a meta preconizada pela Portaria nº 1.464 de 24 de junho de 2011 do Gabinete do Ministro (GM) / Ministério da Saúde (MS). Foram avaliados 218 prontuários, sendo encontrado o registro de 23,4% dos pacientes com o diagnóstico de distúrbios comportamentais, observando-se que em 86 prontuários houve o registro de atividade de educação em saúde bucal, incluindo escovação supervisionada nos PNE, 10% dos atendimentos foram exodontia e 62% dos que procuravam o serviço era via referenciamento. Quanto às produções registradas no DATASUS verificou-se no ano de 2018, que em 3 meses não conseguiram atingir a meta preconizadas pelo MS e para o ano de 2019, 8 meses ficaram abaixo do preconizado. Os resultados demonstram desempenho insatisfatório do cumprimento global das metas, no que concerne ao registro da produção realizada nos PNE do CEO Aracaju, sendo assim é necessário regularizar os atendimentos mensais desses pacientes, tendo como parâmetro a Portaria 1.464 GM/MS.

O trabalho tem como objetivo discutir acerca do carcinoma epidermoide de palato mole, suas principais características clínicas, histológicas e prevalência, critérios fundamentais para auxiliar no diagnóstico e tratamento dessa patologia. O carcinoma epidermoide é o tumor maligno mais comumente encontrado na cavidade oral, acomete principalmente a borda posterior da língua, tendo predileção por indivíduos tabagistas e/ou etilistas crônicos devido maior probabilidade de desenvolver o câncer bucal associado ao fator irritativo crônico. Sua manifestação ocorre em diferentes graus de malignidade tendo como características predominantes anaplasia, destruição do tecido local, crescimento rápido e capacidade de metástase. O diagnóstico do carcinoma epidermoide geralmente é tardio, seja pelo desconhecimento da patologia pelo profissional ou mesmo percepção das alterações na mucosa pelo próprio paciente que evitam buscar atendimento por temer o diagnóstico. Trata-se de uma revisão narrativa, de natureza qualitativa e exploratória, a qual objetiva elencar e evidenciar os critérios diagnósticos para o carcinoma epidermoide de palato mole, pautados em critérios clínicos, histológicos, tratamento e sua etiologia. Foi realizada uma busca ativa nas seguintes bases de dados eletrônicas: PUBMED, Medline, Google Scholar, Diadorim, Portal Periódicos CAPES, utilizando-se de descritores, Descriptors in Health Science (DeCS) e Medical Subject Headings (MeSH). Com o estudo, conclui-se que o conhecimento sobre lesões tumorais é de suma importância por parte dos profissionais da saúde, auxiliando assim em um diagnóstico precoce, tornando-se menos negativo e elevando as taxas de sobrevida do paciente.

Objetivo: Realizar um apanhado na literatura das informações mais recentes acerca do risco de infecção cruzada durante atendimento odontológico, bem como abordar cuidados de prevenção da contaminação por COVID-19. Métodos: Revisão Sistematizada da Literatura. Foi realizada uma busca completa por estudos recentes nas bases de dados PubMed, Science Direct, Scielo e Lilacs, a partir dos Descritores em Ciências da Saúde “DENTISTRY, CROSS INFECTION, COVID-19”, inseridos na plataforma de maneira cruzada adotando a expressão booleana AND. Dos 40 artigos identificados e selecionados para análise, 34 foram excluídos por apresentarem um ou mais critérios de exclusão. Portanto, seis artigos foram qualificados para inclusão nesta revisão. Resultados: Todos os trabalhos consultados apontam que apesar do alto risco de contaminação devido à proximidade com o paciente durante o atendimento e formação de aerossóis, a utilização de equipamentos de proteção individual e seguir normas de segurança tendem a reduzir drasticamente o índice de contaminação. Considerações finais: A pandemia do COVID-19 tem causado efeitos negativos em todo o mundo. Cabe a cada indivíduo seguir e respeitar as orientações de saúde para uma melhora dessa condição.

The use of the mobile device is based on radiofrequency waves, an electromagnetic wave type. To verify if cellular damage occurs, the micronucleus test was developed, aiming to identify an increase in the frequency of mutations in cells that are exposed to a varied range of agents. Objective: This study aims to answer the following question: "Could the nonionizing radiation emitted by mobile telephone devices cause genotoxic and/or cytotoxic effects in the cells present in the oral mucosa, from microscopic observation by the micronucleus test?" Study Design: Three stages were followed: defining the objective, tracing the search method (PICO), selecting articles, and extracting data. The databases consulted were: MEDLINE, PubMed (AllDatabases, MeSH), Scopus, LILACS, Google academic, PROSPERO, and COCHRANE using the Boolean operators Persons, Smartphone, Mutagenicity Tests, and Mouth, based on MeSH terms. Results: A total of 396 articles were found, 323 abstracts were analyzed, 312 abstracts were excluded, and w6 full texts and 6 studies were included, according to the table of scientific evidence (grade 5). Conclusion: Our study revealed that there is no occurrence of genotoxic effects; nonetheless, there is a suggestion of occurrence of cytotoxic effects caused by exposure to electromagnetic fields of radiofrequency emitted by mobile phones, especially in case of prolonged exposure.

Objective: To evaluate the antimicrobial effect of 0.12% chlorhexidine aqueous solution under the buccal microbiota of patients undergoing mechanical ventilation in intensive care units (ICUs), analyzing the effect of this substance after 6, 8, and 12 hours of oral hygiene. Study Design: Thirty patients admitted to the ICUs of a hospital in Aracaju-SE, selected by for convenience December 2017 to January 2018, which met the inclusion criteria were randomized and divided equally into 3 groups. Oral hygiene followed the disinfection protocol adopted by the hospital, the same recommended by the Association of Brazilian Intensive Medicine. Samples of saliva were collected before, immediately after, and after 6, 8, and 12 hours according to each group. The evaluation by the technique of bacterioscopy also called Gram staining, the results were tabulated in worksheets and analyzed through the Fisher and 1-way analysis of variance tests. Results: This study showed that even in critical patients, which is common to the alteration of the normal microbiota, the aqueous solution of chlorhexidine 0.12% was also efficient as an oral disinfection agent. Conclusion: Our results indicate that the 12-hour interval still seems to be the most interesting if we consider the cost and risks regarding the greater amount of manipulation of fluids in the oral cavity of patients on mechanical ventilation.

Obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) is a highly prevalent condition with cardiovascular and neurocognitive consequences. The alteration is the collapse of the upper airways during sleep, with consequent hypoxemia and hypercapnia, requiring a respiratory effort to reverse it. This leads to awakening, with the muscle contractions opening the airway followed by a period of hyperventilation. Sleep returns collapsing of the airway and restarting the cycle. Surgical procedures aiming increasing the airspace have been used, and orthognathic surgery has been indicated in more severe cases. This study presents a report of an OSAHS treatment through maxillomandibular advancement surgery. A 47-year-old patient with apnea-hypopnea index of 53.3 was submitted to previous septoplasty and uvulopalatopharyngoplasty without satisfactory results. The final treatment was maxillomandibular advancement surgery with excellent outcome and life quality improvement.

This study aims to present findings and dental management in a clinical case of Stevens-Johnson Syndrome. Patient A. A. L., female, brown Skinned, 59 years old, was hospitalized for aneurysm clipping surgery. She was admitted to the intensive care unit after lowering the level of consciousness. During dental evaluation the patient presented generalized facial edema, maculopapular exanthema, and desquamative erythroderma. In the intraoral inspection multiple ulcerated lesions were observed with bleeding at the lowest stimulation in lips and oral mucosa. Laboratory tests revealed eosinophilia, thrombocytosis, and leukocytosis. Because of the clinical manifestations and the anatomopathologic report of the cutaneous biopsy, it was found to be Steven-Johnson syndrome. The treatment of oral lesions consisted of the removal of bloody crusts and laser therapy. After 15 days of laser therapy, there was a progressive clinical improvement of the lesions. The patient died, corroborating the high morbidity and mortality rates of the syndrome.

The philosopher Aristotle seeks the definition of man as a political being, responsible for making decisions. Political decisions generate changes in their environment and in producing change they seek constant adaptations, which in turn leads to contradictions, inconsistencies, truths, falsehoods. So soon, studies of the non-classical logical calls [2] have become a tool as an aid in the making of decisions. The logic calls attention to the brilliance of containing provisions contrary to some of the basic principles of Aristotelian Logic, such as the contradiction. In this article, the use of the technology allows proposing a structured decision making contained in the unified process Paraconsistent Logic. The unified process Paraconsistent Logic aims to be a facilitator in supporting the construction of the decision support and adherent the Paraconsistent Decision Method proposed in the studies with announcements for project recount in the function point analysis technique. A network of paraconsistent analysis can be used applications focused on the use of artificial intelligence, situations that the classic logic does not meet in its fullness, for the simple fact of operating with only two states, true or false, paraconsistent has a lot of room to deal with data inconsistencies and with real-world uncertainties.

Recent developments in low-cost structure-from-motion (SfM) technologies offer new opportunities for geoscientists to acquire high-resolution soil microtopography data at a fraction of the cost of conventional techniques. However, these new methodologies often lack easily accessible error metrics and hence are difficult to evaluate. In this research, a framework was developed to evaluate a SfM approach for soil microtopography measurement through assessment of uncertainty sources and quantification of their potential impact on overall 3D reconstruction. Standard deviations of camera interior orientation parameters estimated from SfM self-calibration within five different soil surface models were several orders of magnitude larger than precisions expected from pattern-based camera calibration. Sensitivity analysis identified the principal point position as the dominant source of calibration-induced uncertainty. Overall, surface elevation values estimated from both technologies were similar in magnitude with a root mean square (RMS) of elevation difference of 0·2 mm. Nevertheless, the presence of deformation in either SfM or traditional photogrammetric point clouds highlights the importance of quality assurance safeguards (such as a judicious choice of control points) in SfM workflows for soil microtopography applications.

Objective: To assess the discrimination and calibration of the Pediatric Index of Mortality 2 in patients admitted to a pediatric intensive care unit. Methods: The study was conducted with a contemporary cohort from November 2005 to November 2006. Patients aged 29 days to 18 years were included in the study. Patients who died within 12 hours of admission and cases of readmission were excluded from the study. The performance of the Pediatric Index of Mortality 2 was assessed by means of the Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness-of-fit test, the standardized mortality ratio and the area under receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve with 95% confidence interval. The significance level was established as 5%. Results: A total of 276 admissions to the pediatric intensive care unit were included in the analysis. The mortality rate was 14.13%, and the efficiency of admission 0.88%. The median age of the sample was 42.22 months, and most participants were male (60.1%). Most admissions were referrals from the emergency department. The mean duration of stay in pediatric intensive care unit was 6.43±5.23 days. Approximately 72.46% of admissions were for clinical reasons and exhibited an association with the outcome death (odds ratio: 2.9; 95%CI: 1.09-7.74; p=0.017). Calibration of the Pediatric Index of Mortality 2 with the chi-square statistic was 12.2686 (p=0.1396) in the Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness-of-fit test, and the standardized mortality ratio was 1.0. The area under the ROC curve assessing model discrimination was 0.778. Conclusion: Pediatric Index of Mortality 2 exhibited satisfactory performance.

Purpose With the increasing number of surgical procedures for osseointegrated implant placement, there has also been an increase in the number of professionals performing this procedure. Surgeons undergo different types of training, and this may influence their surgical experience. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of surgical experience on the osseointegration of dental implants. Materials and Methods A retrospective study was conducted using clinical charts from 2002 through 2008, during which time 265 implants were performed in 110 patients by 2 professionals who completed a postgraduate program in implant dentistry in 2002. Cases were selected for degree of difficulty, avoiding those involving areas that required bone grafts for the placement of implants, with a regular platform (3.75) and a height ranging from 10 to 13 mm. The criteria for evaluating implant osseointegration included clinical and radiographic evidence observed for a minimum period of 1 year, in accordance with the success criteria proposed by Albrektsson et al: 1 1 ) individual, unattached implant is immobile when tested clinically; 2 ) radiograph does not demonstrate evidence of peri-implant radiolucency; 3 ) vertical bone loss is less than 0.2 mm annually after the first year postimplantation; and 4 ) individual implant performance is characterized by an absence of signs and symptoms such as pain, infections, neuropathies, paresthesia, or violation of the mandibular canal. Implantation was performed in 2 stages. To relate the osseointegration rate with professional experience, cases were arranged by increasing order of placement date and were then evaluated per year and region. They were then separated into 2 groups: first 50 implants performed and implants performed after the first 50. Results The osseointegration rate of implants performed was 92.5%, with rates of 87.6% for those placed in the maxilla and 95.6% for those in the mandible. For the first 50 implants, the osseointegration rate was 84.0%, whereas in the implants performed thereafter, the rate was 94.4%. Conclusion Surgical experience acquired during and after a postgraduate program in implant dentistry appears to influence osseointegration of dental implants, with a higher osseointegration rate found in implants performed by more experienced professionals.

Aim: The present study aimed to evaluate if the oral cavity of chronic periodontitis patients can harbor Helicobacter pylori after systemic eradication therapy. Materials and Methods: Samples of 30 patients (15 with gingivitis and 15 with chronic periodontitis) positive for H. pylori in the stomach were evaluated. Samples were collected 3 months after triple systemic antibiotic therapy from saliva, microbiota from the dorsum of the tongue, supra- and sub-gingival plaque as well as gastric biopsies. DNA of each sample was extracted by the boiling method and used as a template in polymerase chain reaction with the primers JW22/23. Results: Eighteen patients (60%) harboured H. pylori in their mouths. Five patients (16.6%) were positive in saliva, two (6.6%) on the dorsum of the tongue, nine (30%) in supra-gingival plaque, 14 (46.6%) in sub-gingival plaque and three (10%) in the stomach. A ostectomia é uma manobra cirúrgica fundamental que pode afetar a reparação tecidual de modo a aumentar ou reduzir a morbidade do procedimento. O tipo de equipamento e/ou instrumental utilizado para a ostectomia pode influenciar diretamente no reparo ósseo. O objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar uma revisão bibliográfica a respeito da utilização do sistema piezoelétrico em cirurgias orais e maxilofaciais, avaliando as suas indicações, vantagens e desvantagens. Para a elaboração desta revisão crítica da literatura foi realizada uma busca de artigos científicos no PUBMED até o ano de 2012. Segundo os critérios de inclusão e exclusão propostos pelos autores, foi encontrado um total de 28 artigos compatíveis com o objetivo do trabalho. Como conclusão, pode-se afirmar que o sistema piezelétrico tem demonstrado ser uma técnica cirúrgica muito promissora indicada para cirurgias orais, proporcionando osteotomias precisas, limpas e com mínimo de trauma para os tecidos moles. No entanto, há o desgaste acentuado das pontas ultrassônicas elevando o custo da utilização do sistema e aumentando o tempo em alguns procedimentos.

Algumas das características especiais do laser associadas a fenômenos ópticos, permitem uma série de aplicações na área biológica, baseadas no fenômeno conhecido como "biospeckle". A técnica do biospeckle tem sido desenvolvida como uma ferramenta para análise da atividade de materiais biológicos, monitoramento de umidade, nível de atividade e presença de parasitos, dentre outros atributos. Apesar do monitoramento ocorrer através da iluminação do material por uma fonte de laser de baixa potência, a influência da luz na atividade biológica do espécime passa a ser sempre uma variável a ser investigada. Com este trabalho se objetivou avaliar a influência do laser na análise da atividade biológica medida pelo biospeckle de um tecido vegetal, caso em que uma folha de planta de café teve, como parâmetro, o tempo de iluminação. Utilizaram-se duas abordagens de iluminação, a primeira incidindo só o laser na folha e a segunda tendo o laser incidindo com uma fonte de luz não coerente, iluminando o ambiente. Pelos resultados experimentais verificou-se que os dados da atividade não exerceram influência significativa com a incidência do laser nem da luz, não coerente ao longo do tempo. Some of the special characteristics of the laser associated with optical phenomena allows a series of applications in the biological area, based on the well-known phenomenon biospeckle. The technique of biospeckle has been developed as a tool for analysis of biological materials activity for the checking of moisture, level of activity, presence of parasites, among other attributes. Although the monitoring occurs by illuminating the material with a source of low power laser, the influence of the light on up the specimen's biological activity becomes always a variable to be investigated. This work had as its objective to evaluation the influence the laser in the analysis of the biological activity measured by the biospeckle of a vegetal tissue; in this case a leaf of coffee plant, using the illumination time as parameter. Two ways of illumination had been used, the first one being reflecting only the laser on the leaf; and the second one the laser reflecting with a source of non-coherent light illuminating the environment. From the experimental results, it was verified that the data of the activity did not have any significant influence with the incidence of the laser, as well as of the non-coherent light throughout the time.

The relation between gender and survival after a diagnosis of AIDS was studied in a cohort of patients with HIV infection in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. During the study period, 124 of 617 patients (20%) developed AIDS. Of this group, 91 patients were men and 33 were women. There were no gender related differences regarding the access to antiretroviral therapy or to prophylaxis for Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia. Survival was shorter among women (hazard ratio [HR] = 4.43; p.001) after adjustment for age and AIDS-defining condition. Adjusting for CD4+ and CD8+ counts reduced the difference between genders (HR = 3.33; p = .017). These results suggest that survival after an AIDS diagnosis may be shorter among women than men in Brazil. Further studies are needed to determine the factors that may be negatively influencing the prognosis of women with AIDS in Brazil.The association between gender and survival after AIDS diagnosis was investigated through use of data from an ongoing HIV cohort study in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Among the 617 patients (425 men and 192 women) enrolled in this study, 124 AIDS cases were diagnosed during 1991-95. There was no significant difference between the proportion of men (21%) and women (17%) who progressed to AIDS. The median age at AIDS diagnosis was 35 years for men and 38 years for women. CD4 and CD8 counts were available at the time of AIDS diagnosis for 57 men and 20 women. Median CD4 counts were similar for men and women (86/cu. mm and 95/cu. mm, respectively), but women had significantly lower mean CD8 counts (494/cu. mm) than men (870/cu. mm). There were 33 deaths (36%) among men and 17 (52%) among women. The median survival time after AIDS diagnosis was 20.4 months for men and 11 months for women. Survival remained shorter among women after adjustment for age and AIDS-defining condition (hazard ratio, 4.43). Adjustment for CD4 and CD8 counts reduced the difference between genders (hazard ratio, 3.33). The observed difference in survival between men and women could be due, in part, to reduced T-cell homeostasis at the time of AIDS diagnosis in women.
