Results of a study on management development revealed that such programs may not be realizing their strategic potential. A total of 123 managers who attended a management development program at Cranfield School of Management completed questionnaires. Findings showed that, even though perceived value of management development is on the rise, its practical application has not been satisfactory. Organizations have not been implementing management development strategies or aligning management development with strategic requirements. This suggests that the problem does not actually lie with the management development programs themselves but with the organizations that send people to attend these courses. Management development professionals should be more proactive in marketing the value of these programs.
