Se describen a los micro-papers como formatos novedosos e incipientes para la difusión del conocimiento científico, tanto en revistas científicas como a través de otros métodos nativos del Internet (repositorios, blogs, etcétera). Planteamos la importancia de la utilización de este formato reducido de comunicación de la ciencia para transmitir ciertos tipos de hallazgos, pues presenta una condensación de la información básica en un documento breve, de fácil lectura y con amplia audiencia, sin perder la calidad propia de los trabajos científicos revisados. Para ello, se realiza un estudio descriptivo de carácter exploratorio por medio de una revisión bibliográfica que ahonda en su uso actual y experiencias previas. Concluimos que su viabilidad para la difusión de contenidos científicos concretos busca la agilidad, sin que ello implique la pérdida de la calidad en la difusión científica.

A descriptive annotated bibliography is presented of recent selected publications dealing with the reported health benefits and risks of fish and seafood consumption; fish and seafood including farmed and wild-caught finfish, crustaceans, mollusks, and seaweeds. The bibliography is presented in four parts, namely (1) review papers dealing with both the health benefits and risks of fish and seafood consumption, (2) specific papers dealing with health benefits related to: antioxidants; bone health; brain and mental health; cancer prevention; diabetes prevention; elderly and senior adults; fermentation; heart health and hypertension; immune response and allergies; infant and child health; lipids, fatty acids and sterols; minerals and trace elements; obesity and overweight reduction; polysaccharides; pregnancy and gestational health; proteins, peptides and amino acids; and vitamins and bioactive compounds; (3) specific papers dealing with health risks related to: algal blooms and shellfish biotoxins; antibiotics use and residues; cancer risks; chemicals; chronic kidney disease; microbial quality and safety; microplastics; minerals and heavy metals; parasites and pathogens; pesticides and persistent organic pollutants; public perception and media; seafood allergy; and smoking risks; and (4) supporting papers dealing with consumption advisories and dietary guidelines; improved decontamination and processing methods; and fish, food and nutrient security. A total of 552 papers are presented together with their annotated summaries. On the basis of the papers presented in this review, it is believed that the higher nutritional value and health benefits derived from increased fish and seafood consumption far out-way the potential negative risks to human health, and as such fish and seafood represent a valuable and much healthier alternative than processed fast-foods and many terrestrial animal food products in the global fight against heart disease and related health ailments. Identifying factors that associate with more cited or higher quality research may be useful to improve science or to support research evaluation. This article reviews evidence for the existence of such factors in article text and metadata. It also reviews studies attempting to estimate article quality or predict long‐term citation counts using statistical regression or machine learning for journal articles or conference papers. Although the primary focus is on document‐level evidence, the related task of estimating the average quality scores of entire departments from bibliometric information is also considered. The review lists a huge range of factors that associate with higher quality or more cited research in some contexts (fields, years, journals) but the strength and direction of association often depends on the set of papers examined, with little systematic pattern and rarely any cause‐and‐effect evidence. The strongest patterns found include the near universal usefulness of journal citation rates, author numbers, reference properties, and international collaboration in predicting (or associating with) higher citation counts, and the greater usefulness of citation‐related information for predicting article quality in the medical, health and physical sciences than in engineering, social sciences, arts, and humanities. This paper investigates retracted articles indexed in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) Brazil, using bibliometric techniques to identify the characteristics of these retractions and relevant citation trends. All records of retracted articles from the first record in October 2004 to April 2022 were included. Sixty-seven retractions and 870 citations pre- and post-retraction were analyzed. Results indicate a change of scenario that began in 2015, with recurrences of retracted articles allegedly produced by paper mills. The prevalence of retractions derived from professional misconduct in health research and the frequency of post-retraction citations in health sciences raise concerns in the chain of stakeholders, public health, and scientific development. Watermarks are key to retracing the origins of paper manuscripts and early printed books and to understanding the context in which they were produced. TEI-P5, one of the most commonly used XML standards for digital descriptions of text-bearing objects, offers the possibility to describe watermarks, but not yet in a sufficiently detailed and consistent manner. The present article introduces a TEI-P5 customization for the description of paper and watermarks based on the International Standard for the Description of Paper, Watermarks and Paper Moulds in Relational Databases (IPHN 2.1.1). This customization provides TEI users with tools to make detailed, structured and standardized descriptions of paper, watermarks, and paper moulds. Such descriptions have the potential to improve the communication and collaboration between the different scholars working on paper manuscripts and early printed books. Moreover, once organized into a database, they can be mined in order to determine the origin and circulation of paper types. Therefore, the present customization can represent a strong asset in the study of the origins and material contexts of paper documents, handwritten or printed.

This is the author's second bibliography on process capability indices (PCIs) and contains approximately 1080 journal papers and books for the period 2010–2021. The related literature is classified into six major categories, namely, books, review/overview papers, theory‐ and method‐related papers, special applications, software packages, and papers omitted in the author's previous bibliography. Theory‐ and method‐related papers are further classified into univariate, multivariate, and functional PCI‐related papers. Special applications include acceptance sampling, control charts, supplier selection, and tolerance design and other optimizations. The present bibliography consists of two parts. Objective - This study is designed to discover what kinds of sources are cited by composition students in the text of their papers and to determine what types of sources are used most frequently. It also examines the relationship of bibliographies to in-text citations to determine whether students "pad" their bibliographies with traditional academic sources not used in the text of their papers. Methods - The study employs a novel method grounded in multidisciplinary research, which the authors used to tally 1,652 in-text citations from a sample of 71 student papers gathered from English Composition II courses at three universities in the United States. These data were then compared against the papers' bibliographic references, which had previously been categorized using the WHY Method. Results - The results indicate that students rely primarily on traditional academic and journalistic sources in their writing, but also incorporate a significant and diverse array of other kinds of source material. The findings identify a strong institutional effect on student source use, as well as the average number and type of in-text citations, which demographic characteristics do not explain. Additionally, the study demonstrates that student bibliographies are highly predictive of in-text source selection, and that students do not exhibit a pattern of "padding" bibliographies with academic sources. Conclusion - The data warrant the conclusions that an understanding of one's own institution is vitally important for effective work with students regarding their source selection, and that close analysis of student bibliographies gives an unexpectedly reliable picture of the types and proportions of sources cited in student writing. They originated from 16 different countries, predominantly from the USA (n=52), and were all published in English. To more reasonably allocate a paper's credit, this article argues that both a paper's authors and references contribute to a given paper. Accordingly, we quantitatively represent the proportion of contributions from each author and reference to a paper. A paper's credit can be allocated among its authors and references based on their contributions. All papers carry innate credit because of publication. If cited, they also carry external credit from the citing papers. The proportion of a paper's credit allocated to references can be regarded as a credit output and serves as an input for these references. In this scenario, only the credit assigned to a paper's authors remains as the paper's deserved credit. The credit of papers can be transferred in a direction opposite that of knowledge diffusion. Via this method, the estimate of an individual reference's contribution incorporates content‐based citation analysis, a promising method to differentiate different citations. A paper's deserved credit represents the contribution of the paper's authors to the scientific community via the new knowledge they provide in the paper. Background: There have been several papers published about pemphigus. Bibliometric analysis is useful in determining the most significant research in a certain topic. By bibliometric research, we were able to determine the 100 most frequently reference articles in pemphigus. Aims and Objective: Using bibliometric tools to find and evaluate the top 100 most reference papers in pemphigus. Materials and Methods: On 19 February 2023, the Web of Science database was utilized to launch a title-specific search. Publications were listed in degrading order on the basis of their total citations. We examined the top 100 most reference pemphigus publications. Results: The years of publication varied from 1971 to 2020, with the 1990s being the most active. According to diverse study objectives, the 100 publications were separated into clinical aspects and diagnosis (20%), pathophysiology (52%), therapy (13%), epidemiology (8%), related disorders (1%) and others (6%). The 100 papers were published in 37 different publications. The top 100 reference articles included 54 first authors of 11 nations, most of whom came from North America and Europe. Stanley, J R, from Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, was the principal author. Citation rates can be used as an indicator of the influence and relevance of scientific papers. The present study analyzed the 100 most-cited articles related to erosive tooth wear (ETW). The top 100 most-cited papers focusing on ETW topics were collected from the Web of Science database on November 11, 2020. The following bibliometric data were extracted from papers: title, authorship, institutions, countries, number of citations, year of publication, journal title, study design, topic, and keywords. Scopus and Google Scholar were searched to compare the number of citations. The VOSviewer software was used to generate collaborative network maps for the authors and keywords. The number of citations of the 100 most-cited papers ranged from 71 to 330 (average: 97.44). The papers were published between 1949 and 2015. Caries Research (28%) and The Journal of Dentistry (16%) presented the majority of papers. Laboratorial (44%) and observational studies (33%) were the most common study designs. The most studied topics were epidemiology (31%) and the erosive potential of substances (drinks, foods, or medicines) (22%). The countries with the highest number of most-cited papers were England (32%), Germany (18%), and Switzerland (10%). The University of Bern was the institution with the most papers (10%). Lussi A was the author with the highest number of papers in the top 100 (14%). The most common keyword was "dental erosion" with 64 occurrences. The top 100 most-cited papers related to ETW were composed mainly of laboratorial and observational studies focusing on epidemiology and the erosive potential of substances. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose It aimed at assessing the current status of physics research in North Korea through a bibliographic and content analysis of the physics papers from North Korea indexed in the Scopus from 2005 to 2018. Methods The Scopus was searched on January 18, 2019 by using the search option ‘Affiliation city’ with “Pyongyang OR Chongjin OR Hamhung OR Sariwon OR Wonsan OR Kimchaek” as the city name and 171 physics papers from North Korea written in English were identified. By performing supplementary searches based on the author names and the references, 46 papers belonging to physics were added and the total of 217 papers were identified. They were classified by publication year, co-authors’ country, institution, subfield, journal and author. Representative North Korean physicists and the active subfields of physics were identified. Results The number of physics papers from North Korea has been growing rapidly in the recent years. Physics research activities in North Korea were extremely centralized in its capital, Pyongyang, where all major research institutions were located. Major research areas included condensed matter physics, optics and high energy physics and the large majority of papers were theoretical ones. From a bibliographic and content analysis, sixteen representative or notable physicists in North Korea were identified. Conclusion It appears that the North Korean government is actively encouraging researchers to publish more papers in international journals. There is a strong growth potential in physics research in North Korea. In order to achieve balanced development in physics, it is an important task to build competitive experimental groups.

Classifying papers according to the fields of knowledge is critical to clearly understand the dynamics of scientific (sub)fields, their leading questions, and trends. Most studies rely on journal categories defined by popular databases such as WoS or Scopus, but some experts find that those categories may not correctly map the existing subfields nor identify the subfield of a specific article. This study addresses the classification problem using data from each paper (Abstract, Title, Keywords, and the KeyWords Plus) and the help of experts to identify the existing subfields and journals exclusive of each subfield. These "exclusive journals" are critical to obtain, through a pattern detection procedure that uses machine learning techniques (from software NVivo), a list of the frequent terms that are specific to each subfield. With that list of terms and with the help of optimization procedures, we can identify to which subfield each paper most likely belongs. This study can contribute to support scientific policy‐makers, funding, and research institutions—via more accurate academic performance evaluations—, to support editors in their tasks to redefine the scopes of journals, and to support popular databases in their processes of refining categories. Chassica Kirchhoff, an art historian and curator, has published a book titled "The Thun-Hohenstein Album" which focuses on the study of the second volume of the Thun-Hohenstein albums. Institutional discovery environments now serve as central resource databases for researchers in the academic environment. Over the last several decades, there have been numerous discovery layer research inquiries centering primarily on user satisfaction measures of discovery system effectiveness. This study focuses on the creation of a largely automated method for evaluating discovery layer quality, utilizing the bibliographic sources from student research projects. Building on past research, the current study replaces a semiautomated Excel Fuzzy Lookup Add-In process with a fully scripted R-based approach, which employs the stringdist R package and applies the Jaro-Winkler distance metric as the matching evaluator. The researchers consider the error rate incurred by relying solely on an automated matching metric. They also use Open Refine for normalization processes and package the tools together on an OSF site for other institutions to use. Since the R-based approach does not require special processing or time and can be reproduced with minimal effort, it will allow future studies and users of our method to capture larger sample sizes, boosting validity. While the assessment process has been streamlined and shows promise, there remain issues in establishing solid connections between research paper bibliographies and discovery layer use. Subsequent research will focus on creating alternatives to paper titles as search proxies that better resemble genuine information-seeking behavior and comparing undergraduate and graduate student interactions within discovery environments. The article presents a survey of 19th-century papers' manufacture and terminology based on the period's sources. It references studies on the subject made by Philip Gaskell in 1972, and Cathleen A. Baker in 2010. Topics discussed include the 18th-century terminology's accepted lack of precision that allows descriptive bibliography, the changes effected by the paper-making machine in the 19th century, and the old terminology's much later use only for general convenience by mid-20th century.

The General Index is a free database that offers unprecedented access to keywords and ngrams derived from the full text of over 107 million scholarly articles. Its simplest use is looking up articles that contain a term of interest, but the data set is large enough for text mining and corpus linguistics. Despite being positioned as a public utility, there is no user interface; one must download, query, and extract results from raw data tables. Not only is computing skill a barrier to use, but the file sizes are too large for most desktop computers to handle. This article will show a practical way to use the GI for researchers with moderate skills and resources. It will walk though building a bibliography of articles and a visualizing yearly prevalence of a topic in the General Index, using simple R programming commands and a modestly equipped desktop computer (code is available at https://osf.io/s39n7/). Working papers are an important source of information for finance researchers. Almost ten percent of the citations from a sample of article bibliographies from leading finance journals were to working papers. The citations were primarily to working papers issued by academic institutions during the previous four years. Checking the citations against three important electronic resources covering working papers -EconLit, IDEAS, and the Social Science Research Network-revealed that fewer than half of the cited working papers were included and only a small percentage were offered in full text. When writing a research paper, significant effort is spent comparing the current work to other related studies. In general, these comparisons comprise the 'Related Work' section of the paper, with the relevant reference papers cited and analyzed. An automatic method for gathering and managing information about other researchers' reviews of reference papers would reduce the time and effort needed for such comparisons. Thus, in this paper, we propose a crawler that gathers the comments made by other researchers on the papers that are cited in the 'Related Work' section and listed in the 'Bibliography' or 'References' section of a research paper. The Reference Comments Crawler (RCC) system collects the text pertaining to the reference papers, providing useful information to researchers by extracting relevant data from the comments. The RCC considers different types of reference identifiers and the comment sentences are extracted based on these reference identifiers and user-defined extraction rule. Also, the RCC system extracts and provides the previous and subsequent sentences, labeled as PreSentences and PostSentences, as well as the comment sentences including the reference identifier. A series of experiments were performed to evaluate precision and recall, and the results showed that the RCC system can provide useful information with a high degree of precision and recall to the user. The paper is a review of bibliographical publications relating to transparent papers during the period 1960 to 1999. Emphasis is placed on conservation treatments. An introductory chapter covering the history and technology of these papers is followed by a description of types of degradation frequently encountered and a short paragraph dedicated to analysis. This study explores the methodologies for editing scientific research articles in the field of social sciences, incorporating bibliographic research considerations. Emphasis is placed on organizing and presenting both the formal and conceptual structures of the articles in a coherent manner. While correct formal structures are essential, issues in content often persist. Purpose. To provide a bibliographical-historical perspective and main interest in the field of myopia. Methods. In this bibliographic study, the Web of Science Database was searched from 1999 to 2018. Recorded parameters included journal name, impact factor, year and language, number of authors, type and origin, methodology, number of subjects, funding, and topics. Results. Epidemiological assessments were the leading type of article (28%), and half of the papers were prospective studies. The number of citations for multicenter studies was significantly higher (P = 0.034). The articles were published in 27 journals, with the majority in Investigative Ophthalmology, Vision Sciences (28%), and Ophthalmology (26%). Etiology, signs and symptoms, and treatment equally encompassed the topics. Papers addressing etiology, specifically genetic and environmental factors (P = 0.029), signs and symptoms (P = 0.001), and prevention, specifically public awareness (47%, P = 0.005), received significantly more citations. Treatment to decrease myopia progression was a much more common topic (68%) than refractive surgery (32%). Optical treatment was the most popular modality (39%). Half of the publications came from 3 countries: the United States (US), Australia, and Singapore. The highest ranked and cited papers came from the US (P = 0.028) and Singapore (P = 0.028). Conclusions. To our knowledge, this is the first report of the top-cited articles on myopia. There is a predominance of epidemiological assessments and multicenter studies originating from the US, Australia, and Singapore, assessing etiology, signs and symptoms, and prevention. These are more frequently cited, emphasizing the great interest in mapping the increase in the incidence of myopia in different countries, public health awareness, and myopia control.
