This article presents abstracts of papers presented at the 1964 Annual Meeting of the American Society of Criminology in Montreal, Canada, on December 28-30, 1964. The paper entitled Father-Daughter Incest: Treatment of the Family, reports on the treatment of twenty families with the problem of father-daughter incest where the father did not serve a prison sentence but was placed on probation. The paper entitled Evaluation of Records in Delinquency Research, focuses on the Southern California Records Matching Project which deals with the manner in which the records of delinquency adjudicating agencies at the local level maybe linked with Federal Census Records in order to maximize the efficiency of data collection and analysis. The paper entitled Juvenile Court Judge's Institute, summarized attacks on the Juvenile Court from any quarters, the weaknesses that inspire these attacks, and the crucial role that the Juvenile Court has to play in spearheading the introduction of personalized justice in the administration of the criminal law. The paper entitled A Spectrum of Sexual Problems Found in an Out-Patient Setting, focuses on the Forensic Clinic which was established in 1956. It is an out-patient division of the Toronto Psychiatric Hospital operated by the Ontario Department of Health under provincial statute.

The article presents a call for papers for the meeting titled "Annual Allied Social Sciences Association Meetings" to be held on January 4-6, 2008 at New Orleans, Louisiana with a theme about inequality, democracy, and the economy. The Association for Social Economics members and nonmembers are encouraged to submit proposals for the New Orleans ASE program. The article presents the summaries of the papers presented at the British Association of Dermatologists Fifty-fourth Annual Meeting, 1974 and Franco-British Reunion. Koilonychia is most commonly seen as a sign of iron deficiency anaemia. It also occurs as an isolated congenital anomaly, as a temporary normal phenomenon in young children and in association with Raynaud's phenomenon. The pruritus of obstructive jaundice is thought to be due to bile salt retention. The correlation between serum bile salt concentration and pruritus is poor however, and so far as we know, the effect of the individual bile salts on the skin has never been tested.

This article presents abstracts of papers presented at the Nineteenth Annual Meeting of The Society for Psychophysiological Research held in Cincinnati, Ohio on October 18-21, 1979. As in recent years, the majority of the research reports were given and discussed informally at two Science Fairs, on October 18 and 20. In addition, research reports were presented at two traditional paper sessions and others were included in the Display and Discussion poster session which ran in tandem with the meetings. Several symposia, invited addresses, and workshops were also included in this year's program.

This article presents abstracts of research papers presented at the 14th Annual Meeting of the Society for Psychophysiological Research. The paper on "Cardiac Components of the Defense in Infants," by W.K. Berg, found that the majority of studies of heart rate responses in alert infants report only deceleratory change, a component of the orienting response. The paper "Negative Slow Potentials Emitted by Participants in an EEG-Controlled Computer Game," by P.A. Brickett, found that CNV are produced prior to a required EEG response.

The article presents information about the program of the American Economic Association Meeting. In programs of the annual meetings of the American Economic Association for the five years 1950-54, persons from the economics departments of fifteen academic institutions delivered 114 out of a total of 210 papers, or 54.3 percent. When papers delivered by people outside the academic field are excluded it is found that of 156 papers originating in colleges and universities these fifteen institutions were responsible for 73.1 percent. Only a few organizations outside the academic field were able to reach the more than two papers category. There was a substantial amount of duplication by individuals from "big 15" universities. Sixteen persons delivered two or more papers, accounting for a total of 37 of 161 papers originating in colleges and universities. These sixteen scholars also served as discussants 6 times. Two of them delivered as many as four papers each in five years, full staffs of only eleven colleges and universities did as well or better.

Often the most invigorating conferences are those which bring together many different specialties and integrate them within interdisciplinary panels. Such was the case with the Forty-Fifth Annual Meeting of the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies (ASECS), which took place in March in Williamsburg, Virginia. The event was enormous, with over eight hundred presenters spread among 221 panels, in addition to seven plenary sessions and other special events such as the masquerade ball hosted by the Women's Caucus. Music and other performing arts were well represented throughout the weekend; both the Society for Eighteenth-Century Music and the Mozart Society of America sponsored panels, and many papers about the arts were included in other groupings. Given the large number of papers and other events, it was impossible to attend all or even most of the offerings. Editorial. The special section of the International Transactions in Operational Research is devoted to papers related to the International Federation of Operational Research Societies (IFORS) Operational Research for Development Prize Competition. It is held along with the IFORS triennial meetings. This prize is awarded to encourage, recognize and reward outstanding work related to operations research in development. The papers submitted for the prize should also have relevance to the development process of developing countries.

The article presents an announcement of the annual meeting of Association for the Sociology of Religion, to be held from August 15-17, 1996 in New York. The theme for the meeting, that is understanding religion and society, invites the public to take stock of the connections between religion and other social institutions--the economy, medicine, education, the family, politics and the state, among others--in the U.S. and around the globe. This program welcomes papers on any topic or issue in sociology of religion including religious values, career choices and economic behavior, economic theories of religious behavior, cultural production and religious change within the world system, postmodernism, deconstuctionism and the sociology of religion and other related topics. Questionnaire data from 137 panel chairs at the 2003 Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences meeting in Boston reveal respondent perceptions of the conference site, overall impressions of the conference, as well as panelist attendance, and the quality of information presented by panelists. The findings reveal high marks for the conference space, hotel rooms, and the city of Boston itself, resulting in an overall positive conference experience, but responses also highlight several areas of concern, including panelist attendance problems and presentation etiquette. The article presents information related to the 1968 meeting of the Ohio Valley Sociological Society which is to be held in Detroit, Michigan from May 2-4, 1967. The article presents a review of the 2004 Meeting of International Association for the Study of Popular Music-United States in Charlottesville, Virginia. The first panel that the author attended was titled "Johnny Cash." Several papers on this panel were discussed. Another panel that the author attended was titled "Masculinities," which emphasizes that gender, and specifically queer studies, has evolved as a critical facet of popular music studies.

The article focuses on the increasing attention paid to marginal religions by associations dealing with the sociology of religion. The organizations, which promote sociology of religion, include the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion and the Religious Research Association. A factor that becomes very noticeable as one examines programs from the 1950s through the 1960s and then over the last thirty years is that they become longer and more complex, as the societies grew, so did their meetings. One effect of this growth was that program themes, while still important, began to determine the character of the individual meetings less and less. One cannot all change our research agendas from one year to the next to suit these themes. Accordingly, as the meetings grew, program themes began to be complemented by the regular appearance of papers and above all sessions on specific recurring subjects. Among these were changing sets of themes that touch on "other" religions. Tracing the appearance, growth, and persistence of these themes showed that, not only is the idea of "otherness" difficult to pin down objectively, it also shifts with time.

President of the American Sociological Society Louis Wirth is planning for a Section on Contributed Papers for the next annual meeting that is to be held in New York from December 28 to 30, December, 1947. Although this Section is particularly de- signed for those younger members of the Society, including graduate students, who have not yet had an opportunity to appear on the pro- gram in other sections, contributions from other members of the Society will be welcome. Since this Committee is working closely with the Committee on Research, it is being urged that members who have completed research papers suitable for oral presentation and which do not fall within the scope of other Sections be offered for consideration in the Section on Contributed Papers.

The article presents information on the 59th annual meeting of the Southeastern Division of the Association of American Geographers that was held in Biloxi, Mississippi from November 21, 2004 to November 23, 2004. Participation in the Biloxi meeting was robust, indicating a healthy process of scholarly exchanges, and a promising future for the organization. The meeting consisted of 29 sessions, including 14 regular paper sessions, four special sessions, five panel sessions, two student honors sessions, two poster sessions, and two undergraduate Gamma Theta Upsilon sessions.

The article presents a calendar of events that lists congresses and conventions organized by the Technical Association for the Pulp, Paper and Converting Industry (TAPPI) in the U.S. A symposium on Advanced Coating Fundamentals will be held on February 8-10. The 2006 TAPPI Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony will be held on March 6-8. A Hands on Workshop for Pulp and Paper Basics will be held on March 6-10. A conference for papermakers will be held on April 24-27. A course on Web handling and converting will be held on March 20-21.

On behalf of the Committee in charge of the Section on Sociology and Social Work, the author, as chairman, has the privilege to present to the readers of the periodical "Social Forces," the papers and discussions presented at the meetings of the Section held in Chicago in connection with the meetings of the American Sociological Society, December 26-29, 1919. The special issue of the periodical last June which printed the papers read at the meetings of this Section in 1917, was so well received that it was decided to publish these papers again as a unit and the writer wishes to take this opportunity to express his thanks and appreciation to the editors of the periodical for making this possible. In preparation for the meetings of this Section for 1928 a questionnaire was sent to all members of the Society who indicated an interest in this section, asking their advice on subjects to be treated during the 1928 sessions and for suggestions as to persons who might be called upon to present papers as well as those who might discuss them. It was indicated in the questionnaire that those in charge of the program of the Section were desirous of having the papers based on actual research which had been completed or was being carried on in the various fields of interest to sociology and social work. The response to the 350 questionnaires was wholehearted and generous.

The article reports on the meeting of the Association of Suppliers to the Paper Industry held in Stone Mountain, Georgia which was attended by industry executives. The meeting was held with educational sessions and networking opportunities for companies and participants. The association's spring meeting will be held in March 2006 at Amelia Island Plantation in Amelia Island, Florida.
