In the article, the author discusses how the dentistry profession and dental hygienists could prepare to provide the needs of baby boomers in the U.S. She cites that based on statistics, 10,000 Americans are turning 65 beginning January 1, 2011. She presents the introduction of toothbrushing by Claude Hopkins in the U.S., the National Institute on Aging (NIA) Baltimore Longitudinal Study on Aging (BLSA), and the American Dental Association (ADA) Center for Evidence-Based Dentistry (EBD).
